I really really hate how most art of transfems is just a cis girl with a cock or the most cis passing/adjacent body type ever.
Yeah, girlies like that do exist, but you know what there is so much more of?
Fat transfems, "clocky" transfems, transfems early on in or without hrt, transfems who don't "pass", transfems that don't get rid of or ashamed of their "boyish"/"masculine" features.
Not all transfems look like cis women models or twinks with boobs, please understand

you can be masculine and feminine at the same time. being masculine doesn't make you any less feminine. being feminine doesn't make you any less masculine. there is no inherent morality to any masculinity or femininity you express. you create the meaning behind it by expressing yourself - your joy, your queerness, your health. you are not a reflection of other people's harmful ideas about gender. that's their burden to carry, not yours.

If you're against perisex people using labels like AFAB transfem and AMAB transmasc, please kindly shut the fuck up. If you're against perisex people using pronoun sets such as shi/hir please kindly shut the fuck up.
I, myself, am intersex. I do not *care* if Sally sees her womanhood through a trans lens while being perisex AFAB. I am an avid believer that enforcing the notion that such labels are 'exclusive' to intersex people is harmful. 'Oh but shi/hir has been used against us!!!' That is not the fault of Billy, who just vibes with the pronoun set.
The sooner we as a community can realize that these 'progressive' boxes aren't much better than the ones made by our oppressors, the better.

Hey I love your blog! I wanted to ask if..Can a perisex afab label themselves as transfem? Coming from a point of genuine confusion.
Little background on me, I'm a black non binary and perisex afab and I don't believe to find myself medically transitioning ever..Yet I find myself relating to trans fem experiences more than trans masc experiences. I don't think I've identified quite why yet but im working on it 🩷
Sorry if this was a rude thing to ask, I will not be using any kind of label if it's not meant for me or disrespects other people which is what I'm trying to avoid by sending this ask. Thanks n have a fuckin awesome day yall. ✌✨
hello there, thanks for asking!
sorry for the late reply!
the answer to this is yes, depending on your lived experience; a lot of women and people of color in general feel as though they've had to fight to be seen as their proper gender due to white beauty standards being forced on them since childhood. if you are a black woman of color who feels as though you are not seen as yourself due to the fact that you do not conform to white beauty standards and other people judge you, misgender you, mislabel you, tell you you're not feminine enough, etc. you are having a transfeminine experience (and experiencing transmisogyny)-
race actually plays a huge role in gender roles as we know them and i'm sorry you're going through this as well. i'm mixed black and because of that, i was told i'm not feminine enough to be a woman because i have a large nose, heavy brow and deep set eyes. people don't know what they're talking about
it doesn't matter that you're perisex, but i appreciate you being respectful! this ask was totally in line, i've heard this experience from a ton of people of color, men of color experience the exact same thing in the other direction as well. you're not alone, this is common, and it is due to systemic racism.
hope this helps! take care of yourself! thanks for sending this ask, appreciate you!

you can be feminine with body and facial hair. you can be feminine with broad shoulders or narrow hips. you can be feminine with a strong jawline or receeding hairline. you can be feminine with a deep voice. your body does not dictate your gender - you do.
i hope you find peace and joy in your body, and are able to do whatever you need to obtain that. you are and will be beautiful, no matter what.

I believe that Iroh's conversation with Zuko when he catches him trying to steal Appa as the "blue spirit" makes viewing Zuko as a trans woman who is yet to realise that she is trans incredibly easy. Breaking it down:
Zuko's insistence on taking actions that are detrimental to his health or that put his life at risk chasing a goal she knows she cannot achieve show a large apathy towards his future. Can be read as depressed in general but it particularly resonates with me from a trans angle - I didn't take care of myself when I should have in the past because I couldn't imagine any future where I was happy, as a man.
"I know my own destiny uncle." to me reads as someone who is dejected about a future that they do not feel they can stop. Iroh's response of "is it your own destiny? or is it a destiny someone else tried to force on you?" works then, as a response, to make Zuko doubt that she actually has to have that destiny, to be a man.
"Its time to look inwards and ask yourself the big questions: who are you?" Does this need explaining.
Also, Zuko is wearing a mask that she chooses to leave behind at the end of the episode.

This essay argues that retrieval of the archive of trans women's engagement with women's liberation corrects a historical focus on the virulent trans misogyny that targeted trans women for exclusion from feminist milieus and projects beginning in 1973. This essay follows the arguments for trans exclusion into their contemporary iterations and proposes the archive of trans women's feminist work as a theoretical and political resource for countering trans misogyny.
