Dykes to Watch Out For #323 "I.D. fixe?" by Alison Bechdel
Illustrated in 1999, this strip features character Sparrow discussing being a bisexual lesbian, how she is not suddenly straight because she is dating a man, and the struggles she faces because of this. This strip also discusses the validity of gay trans men and transmasculinity, a very powerful comic for its time.

it cracks me up every time some pissy radfem girlie comes into my inbox being like “ur just a straight girl!!!!!!!!!!!” as if that’s gonna affect my life in the slightest. some 17 yr old in conneticut thinking i’m a straight woman isn’t gonna stop gay dudes from wanting to fuck me or calling my bottom growth a cock or begging me to top them. like i am truly sorry but gay sex will always be a stronger force in the world than transphobia.

Apparently a lot of you guys, especially people who suddenly decide they know everything about transmascs, don’t actually know what invisibility or erasure actually means. You guys phrase it like “the oppressor does not know you exist and ignores you while attacking others” but it’s actually the opposite. The oppressor is making sure YOU don’t see US. The oppressor is making sure that you don’t see the awful things done to transmascs. Transmascs are forced to leave their homes, denied medical care and gender affirming care, forced to detransition, forced into pregnancy, forced to be wives, etc. When transmascs die, many of us are buried with our deadnames, buried as women, and added to a woman statistic instead of being recognized as a transgender person. Terfs and transphobes ARE posting about trans men. Terfs are posting underage transmascs and encouraging harassing them for also being in sports, just like trans women, no matter which team they play on. Transmascs are being threatened and hurt, you’re just not seeing it, or choosing to ignore it. That’s what erasure is. If I’m forced to detransition, become a wife and have kids, that is not a privilege. That is a traumatizing and horrific outcome. If I’m denied medical care, that’s not a privilege. If I die, if I am killed for being trans, today, or tomorrow, or any point in the near future, I will be buried with my deadname and as a woman by my family, no doubt about it. Don’t tell me that that’s a privilege. That is not being ignored, that is having my identity erased, that is sweeping who I was under the rug, and that is in no way a privilege.

November 20th is transgender day of rememberance
Tumblr media
A day to remember transgender people who have died due to transphobic violence, suicide, or other often preventable, tragedies.
Personally, I also like to take this day to remember the people who have come before me who were died, unable to express themselves for who they are, oppressed, and erased from history.
"For the transcestors from whom I specifically came. I don't know your names, but my spirit says you existed." -Tre'vell Anderson, We See Each Other, dedication page
Please reblog to spread trans love and acceptance
*the names and people depicted in the image are not the names or depictions of any real people

Me: As a gay trans man, an actor, and a musician, I take a lot of fashion inspiration (and transition goals, tbh) from movements and subcultures pioneered by queer men. Because of this, my style tends to lean slightly androgynous or masculine in an explicitly queer way, outside the confines of patriarchal cishet masculinity.
Queer people, et al: I diagnose you with nonbinary, they/them pronouns, and bisexuality

A 3 watercolor and gouache painting series celebrating transmasc gay beauty and romance🌹🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 The result of a few painting experiments I shared previously, a series I've been wanting to draw for a while! These will be available as prints and the originals will be for sale too! ☺️
My process for these was: digital sketch > pencil tracing on watercolor paper > watercolors > gouache > lineart with colored ink and glass dip pen. A lot more steps than usual for watercolors for me but I'm happy with the results!

Why does everything have to be an argument. Using the MLM or “toothpaste” flag does not fucking mean you hate history or you don’t respect the community. It means that the original rainbow flag, does not symbolize being a gay man anymore.
It symbolizes and is an umbrella for the community as a whole, which is incredibly important for us to have!!
But if you’re bisexual and you want to flag that, you can wave the bi flag.
If you’re a lesbian you can wave the sunset flag.
But guess what?? If I as a gay trans man wear the rainbow flag, it doesn’t tell people that I’m a gay man, it tells people that I’m under the lgbt umbrella, which 90% of the time leads people to assume I’m a bi girl. I use the MLM flag to tie my gender to my sexuality, for my own comfort.
Is the MLM flag as well known as the others? Maybe not!
Does the rainbow flag still represent my family, my fight and my identity? Of course!
I agree that a disturbing amount of queer kids aren’t getting any history, and I’m sure there are some on twitter that are being little douchebags and trouncing on Gilbert Bakers name and that does make me want to cry
But denouncing flags and identities isn’t the way to make them come around. You can fly more than one flag. Your presentation and the information you show people is up to you. And trying to tell kids that they’re bad for wanting a flag that they feel represents them best really isn’t gonna make them listen.
