i saw this one valgrace fic where jason was a ghost and helped leo move on from his death after leo planned to go to the underworld to get him back. and while i love the ending message i can't get leo going to the underworld to get jason back.

leo, heart broken, traveling down alone to the underworld. it's no use trying to stop him, for he's decided he's going to get jason back or join him in death. all that keeps him alive/sane on the way down is the thought of having jason back, and maybe everything will go back to the way it was. before calypso, and the trials, and the giant war.

jason, dead, already knowing what leo would do. he's torn– he wants to see leo, so badly, but he knows the fates have declared him dead. any change in his fate would be dangerous, having horrible consequences. especially since the fates don't simply let someone get away from death forever. every mortal dies, whether they're a king or hero.

maybe leo knows that, too. and yet, nothing stops him. he will get jason back.

maybe it's a bit like orpheus and eurydice. leo, orpheus, distraught over their lovers' young death. jason, eurydice, dead, waiting for their love in the afterlife. maybe they'd have the same ill-fated end. leo fails, and jason's gone. again. no do-overs this time.

they're seperated, only to be reunited by death. death, which takes everyone but leo. it takes his mom, and his friend, but not him. not yet, anyway.
