You have a small species of cryptid living in your apartment. They're a rather common urban cyptid species, but they're incredibly fast breeding. Most people hire exterminators for this type of situation but you'd rather not.
They're these little pale guys with big red eyes. You could probably hold a couple of them in your hands at once. You accidently killed one and you felt bad about it for awhile, you even gave them back the body, you couldn't bare the guilt.
As time goes on they build a little city in your walls. There must be thousands of them now, living their own little lives. They watch them getting breadcrumbs or farming mold in the mornings, and watch them sometimes sing little songs or do little rituals.
They come to view you as sort of a folk hero after some time. Like a giant that protects them. When you take your cat away from their settlement so she won't eat them, or when you fix something for them, or give them suger cubes, they must see these as great heroic acts. When you're out for a few hours a few of their generations pass, and you must fade into legned for then, until one day this great benevolent giant they didn't even know the reality of comes back to them.
Sometimes they make things for you. You know they have a statue for you at least. But they try to make you little emblems and jewelry. It's not very good, but they're definitely happy that you accepted their gifts. And sometimes when you have a hard day at work, or something goes wrong for you, it's nice to have those little guys there for you, even if you can't really talk to them or get to know them or anything.
One day your landlord finds out about these guys. He says he has to get rid of them. If you don't let them he'll get rid of you too. They want to hire an exterminators by Monday, they'll poison their crops, and let them slowly die off or starve, and gas out any survivors if they have to.
You realize they can't live here anymore. So you try to tell them. To tell them they have to move, that something is going to kill them all if they stay within the world they know. But they don't understand, you can make them afraid but you can't make them understand.
Two days before the exterminators come you realize what you have to do, what you know will make them leave. You look at their city, and you start destroying it. They feel betrayed, they thought you would always be there to protect them. It's like how the Greeks would see Hercules destroying Athens, or how the Britaish would see king Arthur leading armies agaisnt them. They think you were sent by God, as a manifestation of his anger. They're so much smaller then you, they didn't even think you betrayed them, they thought they betrayed you. You wish you could tell them, that this is your final act of protection.
Eventually they leave, you knew they would. You hope wherever they are they're safe, and that the next giant they know can know them for longer.

The Secret World of Tevayt
The secret world of Arrietty Au (Genshin Impact x reader)
I’ll never forget that summer, where I spent some time at a strange little inn. A close family friend ran it so Lumine thought it would be good to stay there before the surgery.
—----------
As Lumine drove through the path through the forest, her brother Aether sat quietly in the passenger seat as the trees passed by.
“Are you feeling okay Aether?” Lumine asked.
“I’m okay, it’s just… been a while since we were last here. Just wondering if Xianging and her dad are doing okay with their inn,” Aether said with a yawn.
“Well we're almost there and I hear they expanded it a while back, and they have interesting characters living there,” Lumine said as she pulled up into the driveway.
There waiting for them was Xianging, as she waved excitedly to the twins. The twins happily got out of their vehicle and hugged their long-time friend. Aether looked at the old inn, seeing it certainly has expanded. From a tiny bead and breakfast to a decent-sized inn for a good amount of people.
While Lumine and Xianging chatted, Aether decided to go visit the tiny backyard. The once small backyard grew into a large garden that overlooked a forest and valley. Aether could see himself spending most of his time in the lovely garden, breathing in the fresh air. As he walked along the brick path, passing by a bunch of silk flower bushes there was a tiny rustle in the bush.
From the corner of his eye, he could have sworn he saw a tiny human brush past between the leaves. He turned to search the bush, but he saw nothing, his eyes must have been playing tricks on him. It wasn’t long before Lumine began to call for her brother, and with a sigh, he left.
But he wasn’t the only one breathing out a sigh, a single leaf shifted from its place to reveal a tiny person with flowing (hair color/type). They smiled in relief as they held the silk flower petal and tea leaves close as they began to slide down the trunk of the bushes. As they slid down, Y/n noticed something coming straight for them.
Y/n came to a halt as an arrow lodged itself into the bark. They smirked as they side-eyed the perpetrator, Tartaglia.
“Where have you been girlie/buddy?” Tartaglia asked.
“You missed,” Y/n smirked playfully as she pulled out the arrow.
“Hey, you should be happy. I missed. Or else that would be one less comrade in the colony,” Child smirked as he rolled his eyes.
“Well if you weren’t shooting at me, I have everything under control. I remained hidden when supposed to, and I didn’t take more than needed,” Y/n smirked.
Tartaglia rolled his eyes at his childhood friend when he noticed a certain hairy feline. It glared at them and started to wiggle its tail to pounce. Y/n noticed Tartaglia’s sudden stiff stance as they could hear the low growl behind them.
“Jump down,” Y/n said as they ran to Tartaglia and pulled him down as the cat Reached into the Bush.
The two slide down the trunk of the bush as the cat got caught in the bush. Y/n and Tartaglia sprinted down the bricked path along the side of the house. The cat got free and began to chase the two tiny humans.
“There the rain drain is just up ahead,” Tartaglia pointed as he grabbed Y/n’s hand.
The two ran as hard as they could and they quickly slide into the rain drain on the side of the house wall. Y/n just made it through as the cat slammed into the wall, its paws reaching out for them. Targalia and Y/n landed gracefully as they turned with a smirk.
“Nice try, maybe better luck next time,” Tartaglia waved as Y/n ran ahead to return to the Colony first.
There was a small door that would always be guarded, and once and a while the guards will change out. If Y/n was lucky, the post will be vacant between the swap. Giving them a chance to slip in and know one… Other than Tartaglia would know that they snuck out.
Tartaglia ran after them to apprehend them, but Y/n already made it into the unguarded post and entered the colony. Once the surface it looks like a pile of bricks, but it was actually a deep bunker that housed about 45 people.
As Y/n ran through the door and was about to make it to the last door, a strong arm quickly wrapped around their waist and stopped them.
“And where do you think you're going?” Asked a suave voice.
Y/n sighed as they knew he was caught by Kaeya. The young lad/lass tried to break free, but Kaeya had an iron grip on them.
“Good you caught them,” Tartaglia panted as he stopped running to catch his breath.
“I had a good reason to be outside. I was collecting Mr.Zhongli’s tea leaves, it was on orders,” Y/n tried to reason.
“Still you are not a part of the Garden Rangers, so you cannot be outside in the garden. It’s not safe,” Kaeya said simply. “ You haven't chosen your role yet. If you do want to go outside then join their ranks.”
“But I also want to explore inside the house too, I don’t want to pick just one unit to join,” Y/n sighed.
“Well, that’s just how things are set. We all have a role to play to make sure everyone survives,” Tartaglia said with a sigh.
As the two guards scolded their colony friend, Caption Zhongli and Venti were strolling by. Y/n quickly wiggled their way out of Kaeya’s hold and ran over to them.
“Caption Zhongli! I have it! I got your tea leaves,” Y/n said as they presented the large leaves.
“Ah, good job Y/n. I knew I could rely on you to find these leaves,” Zhongli smiled as he took the leaves.
“Zhongli, if you wanted Tea leaves you could have placed a request on one of the collection teams,” Venti laughed.
“Sadly the garden rangers don’t make it a priority to get tea leaves. So most of the time they do not bring me my requested leaves.” Zhongli said.
“We tried to bring the grounded tea bags one time, but you didn’t like it,” Venti argued.
“Because grounded tea Leaves do not have the same tasted as whole tea leaves,” Zhongli said back. “Anyways, thank you Y/n for bringing the leaves I requested.”
“Wait, Y/n have you decided to join my Garden Rangers?” Venti asked excitedly.
“No, they snuck out,” Kaeya snitched.
“Oh? If you have the skills needed to sneak around then my Bowerers may be better suited for you,” Zhongli suggested.
“Yeah, umm about that. Can I accompany one of the teams on one mission?!” Y/n Begged.
“Y/n you asked this with Venti, Ei, and all other possessions groups in the colony. You still didn’t pick one,” Tartaglia sighed.
“Well, I just don’t want to end up with a role I will hate…Like Kaeya,” Y/n said.
“Wow…Way to throw me under the bus Y/n. I don’t hate my role, I just find it uneventful,” Kaeya countered.
“Well I don’t see the problem if it’s just one mission,” Venti shrugged with a carefree smile.
“Hmm, alright. But, one mission. After this, you will pick your role and work with 100%. Deal?” Zhongli asked as he held out his hand.
Y/n hesitated, knowing very well that Zhongli is going to make sure that this promise is going to be upheld. Although, this will probably be the only opportunity to explore the inside of the human house. So they shook Captin Zhongli’s hand and promised.
“Good, meet us at door 4 at 7:00,” Zhongli smiled and promptly left to go make his tea, and Y/n had more plants to stuff in their room.
Y/n’s room was filled with all sorts of berries and plants. “Y/n have you see-. Oh My, what happened to your room?” Kaveh asked with a dramatic gasp.
“It’s like my own little garden,” Y/n smiled.
“More like a jungle if you ask me. After I put in so much work in decorating this room,” Kaveh sighed. “Oh, it that… a silk flower?”
“Yes, it was meant for your birthday, but I could always keep it,” Y/n smirked as Kaveh reached for the flower.
“No no no, I know just what to do with that. It’s gonna lighten up the living room nicely,” Kaveh said as Y/n gave him the flower.
“Now get out, I have to get ready for tonight's Borrowing,” Y/n smiled as they pushed Kaveh out of the doorway.
