DJ…. DJ Lilia with the headphones and a crooked, fanged smile.

Him in the middle of a club with all the flashing lights, fingers dancing across the soundboard with practised ease. Twisting and turning knobs, slender fingers adorned with silver rings turning the volume up, up, up. The music he pumps out is loud, yet somehow it resonates with your heart.

The bass thundering, shaking the entire club.

Maybe he’ll even put up a little show up there on the stage. Swaying his hips in a dance, winking at the audience. You can see the faint twinkle of his pierces as he sways, hands bobbing up and down to the deafening beat. Sweat glistening on his toned arms, the muscle tee stretching across his torso.

nie zhuyan makes soaps on the regular after moving to Gusu to marry a-yu? A lot of them go towards various people or groups in Gusu (family members/friends, the baoshi, etc.) though he sells some of the special ones.

I forgot that Nie Zhuyan actually learned how to make soap at some point, so when I came back to this ask, I thought he was making...soaps.

ooooughh h with the new New Crew episode it seems the Concierge is the MOST human-like out of any of the staff....his fantasy at the beginning...his ideal sanctuary being this fancy library (his lounge) with the perfect fire and the wine ....also thinking about how sensory-focused he is - how everything Needs to be Just So, how he hones in on details like taste and smell and appearance, and even the way he can 'read' the guests...

He has, I'd argue, the strangest way of Seeing of the Hotel out of any of the staff - not Nothing, like the Auditor, and not a bunch of meat and guts like the Bellhop, but the hazy starlight and cosmos etc etc. But then he has such heightened sense for the things they presumably do not. He has so much more earthly connection, but to what end? He'll never get to be there in the fancy library and taste the wine and feel the comforting yet not burning warmth of the fire, no matter how perfectly he can imagine it.

The temptations to be drawn into that more earthly, more human realm are there, if highly idealized (but then, who is the Concierge if not a man of standards so high they reach the cosmos itself?). But he sacrifices those wants and desires for the sake of proving himself, his loyalty and his duty to the Hotel...I wonder how long he can hold onto his refined composure for if that continues on?

#the hotel podcast #my first impressions reading the new crew transcript. still need to Listen #noticing an interesting trend w/ the new crew where theyre #on the whole much more satisfied and happy w/ what they do #where the old crew experience basically ONLY misery and pain and suffering etc #hop gets so GLEEFUL to watch the guests die. is so genuinely thrilled by watching them expire n her part in it #aud even with her whole. um. situation. still takes pleasure in the job she has. she seems quite happy to Be and perform her duties #and here we see the concierge as a character that deeply savors and relishes too in his own way #my train of thought is kinda going all over the place but yeah. i like this episode a lot

I have fallen into a rabbit hole how do I get out

#I saw a snippet of Thrill Me and I didn’t understand the portrayal of true crime through romantic lenses #so I looked up for essays on jstor like you do when you’re confused #and learnt that the many adaptations of the Leopold and Loed case aren’t as much true crime media #but rather reflections of changing attitudes towards homosexuality thorough the years #the older media linking homosexuality with murder as a crime #to later retellings making the chrs sympathetic through the homosexuality #it’s interesting how many homicidal queer chrs were written or performed by queer ppl even recently long after Hays Code #so uhhh now my rabbit hole is reading abt queer murderers in media and the context #I don’t even like crime media I was just curious /o\

There's not much entertainment here that we don't have to make ourselves, so It hasn't been too hard to keep up with. I thought it was fake at first because it doesn't change much, but then a second flower grew. I just hope it doesn't turn into one of the weird ones the Blight is always playing with.

As for music, everything's been much more fun as live performances lately. Though I've written some lyrics and still have the equipment to make tracks if I ask the entity to manifest it. I don't know if anything will reach anyone if I produce music here, but it's nice to have as mementos of my more exciting shows. Probably the same as some of you creepy guys with the photographs.
