#this thing wouldn't cooperate while writing so sorry if its bad

people are really being obtuse about why people are upset with carlos. no one thinks his reasoning for the marriage was bad. honestly, i think people could even get over the lying aspect if idk carlos or THE SHOW ITSELF acted like it was bad? i'm sorry but the idea of carlos sitting there letting his secret wife interrogate tk AND not wanting to ~Push her~ makes me not want them to get married. like, good thing she disappears without signing them, tk shouldn't be marrying this asshole anyway.
I agree that many are misunderstanding what is upsetting about the storyline. It's not that he was married, many of us can understand that. For me, I just want to know why he kept it from TK for so long, why he accepted the proposal. Those are the parts that I struggle with. I can honestly say writing fics this week has been very therapeutic. This is going to be long - and may turn into a bit of a ramble as I get these thoughts out.
I have trust issues when it comes to anything Tim says. I also try to remind myself that we are reading pieces of interviews that Tim, Ronen, and Rafa did regarding this particular arc. They each did more than 1 interview with more than 1 journalist. Then each of those journalists released what they thought the others wouldn't be, they each asked similar questions with different wording, just as Tim, Ronen, & Rafa answered with slightly different wording. In one interview it looks like Rafa was saying that Tim told him that he had been married to Iris as early as season 1, while in another it stated that Tim had told him that Carlos and Iris had a closer relationship than had been shown, but hadn't said anything about marriage. You can get a headache trying to read between the lines with these articles, especially since we are so connected to the characters and their relationship (fictional as it is).
For me, the most irritating Tim comment was that he didn't see this as Carlos lying to TK since it wasn't a "real" marriage. Which, quite honestly, is bullshit. It's a real marriage as in there is a legal document that has to be signed by multiple parties, has to go through the court system, has a legal waiting period until that marriage is dissolved, then an additional waiting period before either party can remarry. Its not an intimate or romantic marriage, but it is real. Right now Carlos could break up with TK, no legal documents needed - other than the deed to the loft. Carlos hasn't seen Iris in years, yet needs to go through a legal process to dissolve their 'relationship'. It's a real marriage - there are marriages that are 'in name only' all over the world - they are still real.
I am trying my best to remain optimistic about this next episode. But, I agree - Iris really has no business giving a shovel talk to TK. I can sort of understand her wanting to meet him, but it should never have been a condition of signing the divorce paperwork, especially as she was no longer reliant on Carlos for her medical care. I hope they don't go the villainizing the mentally ill character for the sake of drama. I wish they would have given Carlos a friend outside of the 126 that didn't immediately cause conflict. I want him to have friends, I just don't understand why this was the route to get them for him.
There have been people saying that TK deserves this scene with Iris "roasting" him for the Cooper scene. The scene where an insecure Carlos was unable to realize that Cooper was like "Hey I know all about you, your boyfriend literally never shuts up about you." TK told Carlos about his sponsor the night that Cooper agreed to be his sponsor, had no problem with Carlos meeting him (acted as though it was completely normal for Cooper and Carlos to meet - which it was.), and once TK realized that Carlos was really struggling with the situation, he addressed it head on. He didn't run off, he calmly sat with Carlos, not reacting to the pettiness, just trying to make Carlos understand that while sometimes he would need more than Carlos, he also explained why - that he needed people that understood what he was going through.
Now, if at some point through out this little scene we see Carlos really reassuring him, telling him that even if she doesn't sign he will still file. Something to show that he understands what TK is going through, just as TK did in 3x13. I am hoping that the "you are a hot mess" isn't directed at TK's worry and concern over their future. ANY concerns TK has are valid. He doesn't know Iris, clearly this first meeting with her doesn't go well. And really, how well does Carlos really know her at this point? We just saw their first conversation in what we are to guess is 5/6 years.
I am glad that they won't be getting married in the 1st half of the season, there needs to be some real on screen development showing that Carlos is as committed to TK. I know people will say something about when he bought the loft, but - he was married to someone else and didn't tell TK. That shows that while he wanted a life with TK, TK wasn't a priority. He wasn't willing to be honest about his legal marital status, he accepted a proposal that he couldn't honor. That would make me seriously question my significant other's commitment. It would also make me question whether they really trusted me.
There is no doubt that Carlos loves TK. It has been clear all along. But they both have individual issues and only one of them is willing to talk about them. I have said many times that the writers did a great disservice to Carlos by not acknowledging any flaws he had before now. The breakup was an equal blame situation, yet the writers chose to only give blame to TK, as did a large portion of the fandom.
As I said, I am trying to be hopeful. I am trying to remember how annoyed I was over the breakup storyline, but Push made up for it (for the most part, other than in canon, absolving Carlos of any fault for it). I am hoping that they don't cut anymore scenes that they have shown us. I am sure I will be spending the next several weeks working out my feelings in my fics. I can say that this storyline has been amazing in terms of fic inspiration!!
I do want their wedding, I want the planning drama, I want the tears - but right now, one of them needs to earn it.

This is in the same universe as this. I honestly have no clue why I wrote this but here it is.
Once more, your impromptu roommates never cease to amaze you. Its still up in the air on whether or not that was a good thing however. So instead of anymore health questions (you think it stopped cause at one point someone hurled on the carpet) things had relatively settled into some form of mad normality.
Until the new neighbors got involved. They moved in maybe a week ago and seemed relatively normal at the time. It wasn’t that they were crazies or a bunch of murders, which was apparently your house instead, nope. It was that they seemed to think that they had the full reign to be in everyone’s business while letting their kids run amok. And that as neighbors they could bug you at all hours of the day for ‘neighborly favors’. You don’t mind helping someone out now and again. But you draw the line at someone complaining that your door wasn’t unlocked for them to waltz right in.
‘Oh I’m sooo sorry about that. Here let me give you my bank information, the keys to my house, my social security and my ID. Ya nooo.’
You refused to be pushed around like that. And it wasn’t much better when one of their spawn ‘At this point you couldn’t call them kids but calling them gremlins would be an insult to the gremlins’ for some reason were just...looking through your window cause that’s an entirely normal thing to do and saw one of your roommates. How do you know that? Because they told you after banging on your front door and trying to force themselves into your home demanding to quote unquote see the alien.
It was a bit of a hassle but you had managed to get out of the door to close it behind you so they wouldn’t try to get into the house. Leaving yourself and the two kids outside. The older of the two, a little girl of nine, stamped her foot. “We wanna see the alien!” she harrumph, glaring as well as small child could. Her little brother, six years old, nodded his head.
“Ok, why do you think there’s an alien in my house?” “Cause we saw them in the kitchen.” “Well you’re wrong there- wait” you paused for a second realizing something. You’re kitchen couldn’t be seen from the front window so that would mean... “Why were you looking in my window? More importantly why were you in my backyard?” “Bored.” You take a deep, calming, breath in. It wouldn’t do anything if you got mad at the kids. It took a lot of convincing that no, there was no ‘alien’ and that they wouldn’t be taking them on any space adventures. Luckily they didn’t throw their normal fit and headed back home.
You thought that was the end of that...until a couple days later another neighbor, this one non-crazy, came up to you. Apparently the spawn you caught trying to break into your house had told their mom you had an ‘alien’ living with you. But she took that as a different kind of alien and started spreading that you had an illegal person living with you. You may not have been too sure if the dudes could legally be at your house since they were a completely different species but still! Thanking them you went back to your house, neither of the parents would be back for a couple hours so you had to wait.
You fell face first into your couch groaning. These people have been trouble from day one. “Hey, you okay there?” Reluctantly removing your head from the cushion, you saw Deimos standing in the hallway. You gave a half-hearted wave before face planting back into the couch with a grumble. Maybe you could put off the inevitable headache. Apparently he didn’t get the memo as a few moments later something poked your cheek. Repeatedly.
Tilting your head enough to uncover an eye, you glared at his toothy grin. “Ah come on. No need for that. Why not tell little old me what’s got ya panties in a twist?” You considered that for a moment. They had heard you complain about the neighbors before. (”If they’re so annoying why not kill them?” “Hank, no. That’s illegal.” “Not in Nevada.” “Well your Nevada was a free for all murder fest.”)
Grumbling, you momentarily drop your plans of suffocation by cushion and sit up. “It’s the neighbors again.” You think he raised his eyebrow, kinda hard to tell from his lack of eyes. “Again? What they asking ya to babysit their brats again or gettin huffy about ya not lettin them come over.” Groaning you drag your hand over your face, “No, the mom’s spreading rumors that I have illegals in my house.” “Illegals?” “People that got into the country without a passport and paperwork.”
Deimos seemed slightly confused at that “Huh. And that’s bad why?” You reconsider your suffocation plan “It’s bad because if someone believes what she says they could call the cops.” He snorts. “No I’m serious Deimos, I have no clue how they would react to you guys. If they don’t arrest you for not being...y’know” you gestured to all of him “Plus I’m pretty sure you guys are living here free.” “One rude and two we pay rent.” “Dude I’m pretty sure you’re all committing tax evasion.” You had absolutely no clue how they were even paying rent and a part of you didn’t want to know.
Shaking that thought and its implications away, you get back on some tract. “I’m gonna try talking to the mom when she gets home from work in a couple hours to try and fix this mess. Hopefully things will go my way.” You really hope you didn’t jinx yourself...
And you jinxed yourself. When you tried to talk to her she did her best to brush you off. And when you brought up how her kids shouldn’t be in a strangers backyard she had the gall to laugh at you. Not only had she not punished her kids for basically trespassing on your property, she congratulated them on finding out about your ‘alien’ friend. If this woman wasn’t crazy you’d eat your favorite hat. So after unsuccessfully trying to talk some sense into the woman she slammed the door in your face. Sighing, you decided that you’ll try to catch the husband before he leaves for work tomorrow and see if he could talk some sense into his wife.
You’re pretty sure this is where things seemingly went off the rails. Because after having just as much luck with the husband as you did his wife, you didn’t hear from them for about two weeks. When you did hear from them it was when you got home to see a moving truck in their freeway and a for sale sign in the front yard. Catching a glimpse of them the parents looked disheveled and twitchy. Trying to catch their attention had them flinching and scrambling back into the house when they saw that it was you.
You found that a bit weird but went inside anyway to be greeted by a smug atmosphere. Deimos was sitting on the couch with a laptop but turned to you with a sharp toothed smirk. You had a gut feeling that something had happened that you wouldn’t like. It was proven right. “So I saw that the neighbors are movin out. Pretty weird I gotta say.” “Deimos-” “Real shame, they seemed like such nice folks.” “Deimos.” “They were just getting settled in and everythin.” “Deimos!” That got him to quiet down but did nothing for his shit eating grin. “What. Did. You. Do.”
Apparently he and the others took offense to the possibility of law enforcement. (”Not like it would do much but it would be annoying to loose a cozy place like this.”) So they, not including 2BDamned who seemed to be the only one with some kind of sense, decided to go to war with the neighbors. Which included but not limited to: messing with their cars, hacking their computers, ominously standing somewhere they weren’t supposed to be, sharpening weapons, moving everything in the house slightly off by an inch. Three fully grown and fully trained men decided that one annoying family in the suburbs was a threat.
You stood there blinking unable to grasp exactly you just heard. So you did the next best thing. Go straight to your room and sleep because you sure as hell did not know how you ended up with these loons.

Four-eyes| one shot damirae
A/n: I'm trying to stretch up my writing muscle before continuing other work. Sorry for crappy idea and crappy sketches.
Either her reason is to cut off from social interacting or just the aesthetic, Damian can't help find himself staring at her as she held her book close up, almost buried her face in it.
'What's with the pose?' Damian mumbled as he seen her sit at the living room, while other member interacting, playing even asking question while she simply choose to isolate herself by reading book way to close as if she literally pushing everyone away from her.
Damian as usual goes to the table which situated near the window and put down some document and report for him to finish and compiling. Other than patrolling, working on clerical stuff makes him busy.
Growing up training to kill, social were never be in his dictionary but it seems Raven's effort in social distancing is a bit...annoying as he seen her at the corner of his eyes while studying the statistic of how many times someone try to mess up banking system at the city then he decided to focus on his paper.
-------
He remember when the first time he was sent to teen titans by his father much to his dismay, the member seems to display a tiny of fear as they look at him like seeing a nightmare but for raven, she keep calm.
He thought she's different perhaps because she's the daughter of demons (the worst one), she takes no judgement. But still, he need to be cautious towards her.
Perhaps it is one of her trait where she tries to calm down her team mates if there's inner tension happening. If Starfire unable to calm down the fight between two boys especially when involves with him.
One thing he can't be control is him being hard head and stubborn to the point Raven almost sent him to another dimension. Raven's patience are not infinite and he definitely not going to be overboard with his attitude. Therefore, it train him to tolerate some of member attitude as well as how to cooperate and using other member's ability to achieve the objective of the mission.
He does prepare some plan and blueprint towards the teen titans member for tactical study. Beast boy and Wally simply scoffed as they skim up the document like it was nothing. They prefer to wing it in, as what they told Damian which almost makes him lectured them about preparedness and failure is only for people who don't prepare for any consequences.
However, Raven told him, he should lose up a bit and she does say the others are learning from him being better in tactical as she let him to observe the other member closely when they conducting some mission that involved less threat. She pat on his back, simply said " Don't worry, they got it. They learn it from you. " She smiled.
He felt something after he heard it. What is this flutter feeling in his chest?
His face felt some heat. what is happening?
Trying to avoid Raven from seeing his vulnerable state , he simply let out the sigh and step away from her. At the corner of his eyes he saw her face from pleasant smile to surprised.
Sometimes he cursed his past for not knowing the meaning of emotion. All he learn is vengeance and angry. Only those two. As soon as he move in Gotham, he start to learn respect, family love and worries. The feeling after being praised? He still figure it out what is it.
As time goes by, he eventually try to bond the team, helping them become better. "Dude, even though you'relike some sort of gremlin, I guess you are a good person after all!" Beast boy cracked then turn into a Macaque hugging Damian's face much to his disgust after he improved the shapeshifter's suit.
He sighed.
--------
After two years later, he's begin to be comfortable with the team and almost memorize their attitude and personalities. Somehow, he still haven't figure out Raven. When it comes to accomplish the mission, she glide through the air, launching attack and be as enigma and Raven-y as she can, casting fear towards the enemy. He swore he has seen the method before.
As soon as the mission over, she open the portal pulling the team back into teen titans tower like a worm hole short cut and after that the team disperse at the launching pad, getting rest or shower.
At night the team leisuring in living room but Raven spend her time in her room. But this time, Kori ask him to call her because it is the night of mandatory fun.
Damian keeping his composure, nodded and walked towards her room. He knocked three times, then he heard footstep walk towards the door. " What is it, Damian?"
Damian perhaps jolted a bit as he wonder how could she guess him but quickly discarded as he forget that she, is Raven who can read minds and an empath.
"Its Kori. She said it's Mandatory night." Damian simply state the business. Then he heard silent for a while.
"C-could you tell Kori that I'm not coming?" She spoke behind the door.
"I'll inform to her then." Damian nod and walk away. He inform to Kori about it.
"Ah, too bad. I wanted to show this new movie. Guess it's just us then." She smiled.
"I'm not coming too, Kori. I'm afraid if there's any emergency mission, I don't think she could handle it alone." Damian crossed his arms.
"Raven handle a case during valentine day when she was alone." Said Jackson as came up with casual clothes.
"Which she end up crying after she's back from the mission." Damian sneered at the Aqualad.
"I never knew Damian would care so much for a team mate or...are you planning something else?" Beast boy came up after putting his best clothes and his grin.
"Yes, I'm planning to take over the world, once you're back from outside please do inform me how it went so that I could proceed my plan." Damian said sarcastically.
"Ahah, don't worry, D. We'll buy something for ya." Wally pay on his shoulder.
"Just go." He shoved all three of them as Kori are about to leave the room.
---------
Damian now at leisuring room playing cheesy Viking 3 console mode to passed the time. The tower really quiet as four of them gone out excluding Raven and he really appreciate the moment of silence.
Suddenly he heard a fridge door open. Quickly he put the game on pause, and went to the kitchen.
As he coming to the room he saw the girl with bob hair style with dual color hair consist of navy blue with manogany red ending.
' That's must be Raven.' his heart spoke. As he pulled the chair at the kitchen the table, the girl froze.
"Who's there?!" She spun and held her hand that enveloped with purple energy towards him.
Damian simply stood there and so was she.
Both of them froze.
A moment passed, then another.
And...
"You ... wear glasses?" He rose his brow.
Raven with sweaty face, blink a couple of times as she adjusted her glasses with her other hands.
"Damian, what are you doing in here? I thought you follow others to Mandatory day?" Her hands with energy start to dispersed.
"That explain everything." His lips tug aside.
"What?" Raven confused with the answer he gave.
" The book, the pose, the distance." He chuckled. Then, he looks at flustered Raven.
"What do you mean? you still haven't answer my question, Damian Wayne." Raven getting confused.
"Ah, nothing. I decided to stay just in case of emergency mission and all. I Wouldn't let you handle the cases alone." Damian crossed his arm as he sit at the kitchen counter.
"So...you're doubting me?" It was Raven turn arched her brow.
"I'm not saying you're not capable. I'm saying that you'll need some back up. Two heads are better than one, wouldn't it?" Damian lean back at the chair.
"Never knew you would thought of that, that's very kind of you." She smiled. " An improvement too."
Damian clicked his tongue and looked away, but pink tint start to visible on his cheeks and his ears. Ah, again with this feeling.
He clear his throat a couple of times, then a mug set in from of him. "Peppermint ice tea?"
His eyes looked at Raven as she seat in front of him, with glasses and book on her hands. The Flowers of evil, as he observed the title. "Thank you."
As he sip his tea, he stared at the book. "Flowers of Evil?" As he pointed at the book.
"Yeah, might try to read something like old poem." as Raven looked at the book title.
"I could recommend Robert Frost."
"I did read some of his. The Road Not Taken." As Raven sipped her tea.
"I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."
Raven blink her eyes as she heard his recitation the last verse. "So, do you take it?"
"Take what?"
"The road less traveled by."
Damian looked at her. " This is the road less traveled by." He smirk as he sip the cup.
Raven try to understand that line but Damian simply silent. He's quite enjoy the company he's having now.
"All these time, I've been wonder what's with burying your face in the book." He rest both of his elbow on the table as well as his chin on his propped hand. " Never knew you were actually Four-eyes, metaphorically."
"Are you, mocking me?" Raven furrowed her brows as she put her cup on the table.
"I found you looks more professional in those glasses." He smirked as he stared at her which leads to Raven unknowingly adjusting her glasses as she looked away.
"The glasses is expensive. I lost mine as I bought to mission when I first join the titans, so I tend to leave it at room and I had to use some of my powers to adjust my visions."
"But you could heal them?" Damian's begun to curious.
"Only limited time."
"Did you know there's is laser treatment for that?"
Raven surprised as she heard it. She seems to be thinking but then she put down her cup.
"I'd rather wear glasses than risking my eyes to go blind." She sighed. "Unless I end up become Bran the third eye Raven."
Damian chuckled. She's indeed full of surprises.
"If you lost your glasses again, do tell me. I might know some excellent optometrist to do excellent job."
"Uh, n-no. You don't have to. I.."
"That's what team mate for right? Helping each other?" He smiled. A genuine smile.
She seems stunned by him. Smiling. Damian Wayne is actual smiling.
"Besides, you in glasses, is a rare opportunity and quite pleasant to the eyes." As he get up and goes towards the sink to wash his empty cup. At the corner of his eyes, Raven were blushed hard then adjusting her glasses.
Shit. He cursed under his breath. She IS adorable IN glasses.

Hi, so while I absolutely understand where your post about "queer coded relationship disturbing familial bonds" comes from, CW is just so Weird for me in this regard bc they also gave Steve no alternatives and in the end we were never shown anything he did specifically for Bucky that he wouldn't do if anyone else from WW II was the Winter Soldier. The alternative to Bucharest would be to let him be shot on sight, the alternative to helicopter scene - to let him go. After that it was all about
other 5 winter soldiers. And then what, should he just let Tony beat Bucky up and most likely him? And then everyone was like ~Steve defied everyone for Bucky. I wish???? A lot of marketing and interviews were framed that way but in the actual film Steve did the barest minimum he could do for someone with Bucky's history (they had to erase his memory to make him cooperate and nobody even suggested a third party could be involved even though he evidently was not violent for 2 years).
Oh yes, absolutely! The logic of the movie is a mess, they have tried to make an ~edgy~ ~complex~ story where both sides are a bit right and a bit wrong, but... they didn’t?? They just made something that barely makes sense by its own logic. I mean, there’s barely any logic.
The movie wants to make a compelling conflict where both sides have good points and bad points, but the actual result is... very embarrassing? For me at least, the main emotion I felt during the movie was second-hand embarrassment because they thought they were doing a cool, smart, engaging story, but in fact everyone acts weird because the only thing that matters is for the story to arrive to the points TPTB wanted, and (not unlike the last few episodes of Game of Thrones, you know?) characterization and internal coherency was sacrificed to make the characters go from point A to point B to point C. (That method of story-crafting isn’t inherently bad, but if you’re bad at it, the result is bad.)
Natasha being like “don’t get involved to you’ll make things worse” when if Steve didn’t get involved Bucky would have been killed? Natasha, who knows a thing or two about being a soviet-based psychologically abused assassin that was supposed to be killed by American agents but was rescued instead because someone saw the humanity in her? Okay!
Everyone with like five exceptions (I’m not actually counting) develops a bad case of idiot syndrome; Rhodey who is a high ranking officer in the American military who was certainly not on an extended vacation to Micronesia during the 90s suddenly acts like the UN send armed forces to protect civilian population efficiently and on time, without fail; the Hydra/Shield intelligence plot of TWS simultaneously happened and didn’t happen, depending on which parts are more convenient to the plot; Tony is written like the actual villain of the story but we’re supposed to be sorry for him because he’s traumatized/mentally ill* like basically almost the entire cast of the movie isn’t.
*The screenwriters have big issues with mental health, Catws again seems like it was written by someone else because Sam, the VA group, the very way Bucky is portrayed (which might or might not be the fortunate result of putting Sebastian Stan and Robert Redford in a room and let them act, more than the writers’ intention)... while suddenly Cacw has a very... weird depiction of a character canonically established as suffering from PTSD- mentally ill people are more likely to be the victim of violence and abuse rather than the perpetrators, while Tony’s trauma is portrayed as the reason he acts in ways that harm others, especially vulnerable others, which is sort of... um. Cacw also retcons (albeit it could be just an accident because the writers didn’t understand their own previous movie) Bucky’s cognitive and psychological/emotional issues into... a switch in his brain? Dafuq? (And to think that the Russos were going around before Cacw was released saying that Bucky ~wasn’t either Bucky Barnes or the Winter Soldier but he was something else~ and everyone was excited to see his arc in the movie... just to find out that Bucky was either fully Bucky Barnes or fully the Winter Soldier depending on which mode was activated. Okaaaaay, my fault for getting invested in the story you told in Catws, my bad!)
So basically: they meant to make Steve’s actions in the movie ~complex~ but, like you efficiently say, they didn’t. The narrative does frame his actions as ~complex~, though - we’re supposed to be like oh no the Avengers broke up that’s so sad :(( they were like a family but Steve chose Bucky over Tony :(( when in fact the only reaction that makes sense is to be upset that the writers didn’t, in fact, have Steve and Bucky and their allies go on an island to eat fruit salads and chill. (*inhales deeply while staring with intensity at an imaginary camera*)
The subtext that (accidentally? they don’t seem to, you know, think about what they write...) emerges from what they wrote (mind, when they are in Siberia they’re reconciling thanks to the truth about Zemo coming up, until the truth about Tony’s parents emerges, so the narrative is basically opening a new leaf) is that Steve picks Bucky over Tony, where Tony represents the familial bond that Steve has established with the Avengers (again in IW it’s reiterated that the Avengers broke up because Tony and Steve fought - accurate or not, it’s the emotional truth we’re supposed to accept) while Bucky is the guy he has this queer-coded relationship with, as seen by, like, everyone and their dog.
