Just a random thought. I don't think there's been a TV teacher that has left as much of an impact and resonated with multiple generations of youths than Mr. George Feeny. This man's wisdom and caring heart is second to none.

One of the things that brings me sm joy is how even though Cyrus is a jerk a solid 75% of the time, whenever he’s talking about something myth related (Aquila, or the entry quests of Azteca) you can literally HEAR in the voice acting how legit passionate he is about it.
Like yea, the man clearly doesn’t have the temperament for the education field (and needs some serious post Malistaire therapy) but you can’t say he isn’t legitimately passionate about Myth, and it’s so heartwarming to see him happy about something when so much of his storylines are depressing as all hell.

also. amber gris as a character is really important to me as an appalachian.
not just her accent or the specific type of person justin based her off of but like
the feeling of losing someone to addiction/overdose while the government does nothing to help, just criminalizes and stigmatizes and makes things worse. which obviously happens in more places than just around here, but we have one of the highest rates of overdose death in the whole country and that whole set of scenes felt like they were really informed by growing up around that

I'm only halfway though Hbomberguy's new video and I dont know if this is a universal experience but my main horrified takeaway from hbomb's plagiarism video so far is that one of my highschools TAUGHT AN ENTIRE CLASS OF 13 YEAR OLDS TO PLAGIARISE. LIKE, ON PURPOSE.
I ended up moving to a much better highschool, but my first highschool essentially taught us to "write" essays by reading what someone else had written and then write what they said again but putting it "into your own words". Which in practice was teaching us to change, for example, "the works of Shakespeare were regarded by many as the first popular art form" to "Shakespeare's plays have been said by some to be the first example of popular media". One teacher actually told us that the process of writing an essay was "saying what the people you've researched have said, in a way where it sounds like you said it".
Like. The tactics that actual plagiarists use to hide the fact that they were stealing. An actual teacher tried to teach me to do that.

i found a bunch of old voice memos from spanish class in high school on my phone and holy shit my voice dropped So Hard. those would've been from 6-9 months the first time i was on t and i recorded a real quick one now and the difference is fucking insane, i sound like two different people. i never bothered keeping actual track of my voice because listening to it made me so goddamn dysphoric before and i don't really regret that but it is very very cool to see how hard it's dropped in just like. the past few months

the thing that drives me crazy about the james baldwin post apart from the blatant racism is just the complete incuriosity. like idk i don't think you should pretend you know Everything just to keep from ever appearing ignorant because like yeah everyone has gaps in their knowledge that are a product of your family and home country and schooling system and things you were exposed to growing up and what degree path you chose. but don't you like. want to know more? when you see a quote that you like from a named author, don't you want to look that name up to see who the author is before you proudly say you don't know who they are and you don't care? why is your response "well my school never taught me that so why should i care!!!!" instead of "oh wow i've never heard of him! which work should i check out first?" are you proud of your ignorance? do you want to go through life spending your time, energy and resources defending your lack of knowledge rather than learning something new? are you not the most pretentious person in the room by proudly condemning a generation-defining black author you've never heard of and wearing your ignorance like a badge?

Thinking so much about OOT Impa and how she’s the such a gorgeous buff tall woman but also how despite being one of the last Sheikah and her culture and people has been wiped by the Hylian Royal Family, she still cared for Zelda/Sheik and put so much love into her teachings about the Sheikah culture and fighting style that Sheik proudly wears Sheikah clothing and declares himself Sheikah and cherishes everything that Impa has taught him. And how Impa was able to give Zelda/Sheik a life away from the castle so they can learn more about who they are as a person rather than being told that they are the princess and that’s the role they must live by all their life
How Impa cares for Kakariko despite being an execution site for her people because before then, it was the home to the Sheikah and despite all the dark ghosts and spirits that reside there, she does her best to care for the town and the dead and living who reside there
Also did I mention how beautiful and buff and tall she is and she’s so strong and it’s a crime that they removed her muscles in other young adaptions (except for oracle Impa I love you so much oracle Impa)

the fact that miles used the shoulder touch again to mess up miguel's suit and finally escape from being chased, just like when he took down kingpin, showing everyone both times how he is his own spiderman . him still holding onto aaron's words and sticking to his own path. but this time even with that escape he never reached where he was supposed to go and instead he had to see a version of his uncle that wouldnt have ever taught him about the shoulder touch in the first place

conflating sexual orientation with genital preference is just so weird to me. I told someone I was gay last night and they asked if I was into dick or pussy, and it completely short circuited my brain as I tried to explain that it's about gender, not genitals. It feels like if instead of asking someone if they liked coffee or tea, asking if they liked opaque or clear hot beverages. Like, I like tea with milk and also without, and I like coffee with cream but also espresso, but not black coffee? And in that same way, if someone is just squicked out by tea with milk that's completely valid for them, but to then extrapolate their own experience outward and define a tea drinker as someone who doesn't like milk is both a logical fallacy and reductive of the human experience. Gender and sex is so much more complex than that and I can't fathom trying to reduce it down to such a false binary.
