OKAY SO.

As I'd mentioned back then in my Phantom Liberty Tour post, only a few of those who attended got to playtest the game themselves, while the rest got to see about an hour-long preview. And they didn't showcase much of the new abilities/skills beyond what they were gonna use in combat, and let's say... the V they showed was super flashy, his combat style looked super fun, but couldn't have been further from my playstyle xD Like... the finishers and stuff look amazing, but that's not something I'm gonna have much use for with my low-on-cyberware build that relies heavily on stealth and hacking really (but that I really really enjoy).

So I was a bit worried the whole time, low-key, how the fun would look like for a player like me. And now I finally got to play around in the build planner (https://www.cyberpunk.net/en/build-planner if you wanna have a go, but contains mild PL story spoilers - but again, you're reading this, so maybe you don't care as much for mild spoilers XD)

Looking at everything, especially the new stuff... MAN... :eyes emoji: x1000

I was worried Tech wouldn't be as useful for my low-on-cyberware build anymore, as it is very tied to that now BUT... it's also tied to the health item/ grenade cooldown, and, as before, enhances Tech-Weapons very nicely like... I think along with INT I'd like to make Tech my other 20 Ability. In combination with some of the new hacking abilities (overclocking your cyberdeck?? FUCK YEAH THAT IS... SO ÖAKHSFASDÖASJD that is *such* a thing Vince would do like öasjhdföasf when I saw that I screamed) it's so badass... I think it's gonna work really well together.

The only thing I haven't found that I'm a bit sad about was a Ninjutsu skill that let you pounce on enemies from above (I don't recall the name)... either I overlooked it or it's now integrated into some of the new movement stuff :O but even then, the new movement stuff?? Faster climbing?? Hello, where have you been all my life XDD

Also not to mention the abitlity to queue quickhacks that was teased in one of the trailers already like maaaaaan... Also a lot of counter-hacking abilities against enemy netrunners, CARHACKING... and I get the feeling, from some of the skill descriptions, how cyberware in general works (in the sense that, it reads as if you can upgrade it the way you could upgrade clothing and armour now? but not 100% sure, that would be awesome o.o) was really fundamentally changed.

Also, like... of all the arm cyberware the monowire was always the one where I said "this would be the one Vince *might* consider getting out of all of them, if he was forced to get one", and I don't really know how it was skilled previously... but now it's very closely tied to quickhacking and Intelligence, so one more reason why it would fit him the most XD Still don't think I'd get it cause... yeah, it would just not fit him as a character that much and the way he sees cyberware XD But I love that as a little sidenote.

I'm a little bit... hmm, not quite disappointed, but I would've expected something different from the Relic skilltree actually. I mean, it is very very cool, but also, again, the majority of the skills in there isn't really gonna be useful for my playstyle. And I wonder... if maybe you get advantages or disadvantages beyond extra abilities (read: story-related consequences) if you put a lot of points into it, with how these skills are unlocked >.> *suspicious noises*

But yeah... Usually I'm not looking forward to the updates as much cause... mods break xD But I really am looking forward to trying all of this in game now o.o But it's gonna be... such a difference like hhh...

I'm definitely not gonna start over a new save just to play PL, cause I simply don't have that time atm XD But I'm extremely looking forward to my 3rd fresh playthrough and seeing the skills grow over time instead of setting them all in one go xD

this is why i like . idk i love being online. i went on a whole rant today with my friend about like the freedom that having an online persona can give you. it's so much easier to experiment with gender identity with pronouns, etc etc

and even like... pfps. pfps mean so much to me. i have discord nitro and like . i literally thought it was useless until i did it to match pfps with my friend and then i never went back whoops, but i just... love being able to have multiple pfps. i love being able to express myself in so many different ways. i feel like having one pfp is so... constricting. i don't change my personality (or at least not consciously) when i talk to people online. in fact i feel more like myself online than in person lol but, it's nice to be able to express different parts of myself all at once.

and the amount of people who ive met online who are more comfortable with their online name than their irl name, idk i just find it neat :) i love seeing people having a safe space to truly be themselves eueueueu

agreed I love being anonymous online it's very fun to be able to give yourself kind of an alternate 'persona' where you can try stuff out like that!! names are especially fun. for pretty much all my teen years I could never come up with an internet pseudonym I liked more than my real name so I just. used my real name. because I was a little dumb BUT I didn't give away any other personal info about myself (like I never put my last name anywhere or anything) so I was fine

but yeah once i got into uni I started trying out internet nicknames and I have a lot of fun with them! I still really like my og nickname that I went by for a long time (I went by Cactus hence why my main blog is called bonesandcacti), but then when I got into mcyt I wanted to switch it up again. I liked the idea of going by bones, but I also wanted to try out bee because I have a bee tattoo and I love bees so I thought the name was cute. so that's how I got where I am now.

now it's reached a point where I go by bee in irl situations if I'm meeting people who (might) know me through my fics 😭 like anytime I'm in a lovejoy queue I introduce myself as bee, and when I was at twitchcon I only said my name was bee. I'm lucky that bee could also pass as a real name so it never raises eyebrows lol. I do actually really love my real name though. if I ever do get published you guys will find out what it is so you'll finally be able to call me it which would be fun

internet names are very fun and people should have fun with them :) I've never found a huge attachment to any of my pfps, except maybe my twitter pfp atm since it was art of me done by my dear friend @/aweirdlisa for my birthday last year. I love that art sm. but other than that I don't find I have a huge attachment to my pfps but I get what you mean. if I had full discord nitro I'd probably switch it up depending on the server just for funsies

As for your question, it’s a little hard to answer. For a long time, that was my biggest struggle with writing, knowing how to fill a book! But I’ve found that once you create your cast of characters and give everyone in your cast goals and issues they’re working on and lay out your different plot lines, you can develop the different plot lines and then intersperse them together. When you do that, the book kinda fills itself honestly.

Sorry if that doesn’t make much sense. It’s very late and I don’t think I answered this very well 😅 but feel free to send in more asks about writing craft, because I live for that.

So I'll admit I was more than a little irritated last night (mainly due to absolute sh*t attitudes and horrid fan entitlement behavior, up to and including horrid treatment aimed at fans of different parts of the franchise that I've been seeing around Digi-Twit since Mille ep dropped literally every time I try to check for decent things, seriously is basic decency towards other bloggers and fans not even a THING there anymore???) but that ASIDE.

Hi yes I'm still actually hyper-thyroidism and yes it's a genuine condition I have DIAGNOSED for 10+ years that I've mentioned off and on my blog since Tri era. I've had this diagnosed before Tri even dropped; yes I medicated for it as long as possible and overall that's helped (which is why I rb a lot more about Aut!issues) but I still experience symptoms off and on at times even when medicating, especially when my levels fluctuate really suddenly (I've talked about that before TOO...)

Anyway I was trying to take tylenol for physical pain earlier (which may or may not be unrelated, really bad stiffness all over basically etc) and basically threw up almost immediately after (I had taken tylenol abt 4 hrs before) I'm usually great at keeping tylenol down and 4 hrs is usually when it's wearing off for me as of lately (it tends to wear off faster in recent years) but hahaaa either I took it too early this time or I may genuinely have a stomach virus (C.O.V.I.D??? Who knows but I'm NOT running fever, sense of smell is fine, no sinus issues or chest specific pain atm etc it was more all over elsewhere,,, temp's actually low including right after that happened and this is very average for me, I typically have low temp especially early in morning and at night as of recent last 10~ years since thyroid diagnosis and I have NO idea why, since I did get fevers off and on as a tiny kid, but well)

I'll take a test in the morning (fortunately we still have some of the free ones) but so far last couple times I tried one in past months it came back negative each time.

After this thing tonight happened I did start feeling a bit better (still some irritation), but this has been a chronic issue ongoing 12~24 hours now with off-and-on pain cycles so who knows how much longer this is gonna last

Anyway when I say to people who rudely act like that towards other fans BACK OFF AND GIVE ME SOME SPACE this is what I MEAN because my f*cking health is way more important than ANYTHING TO DO WITH DigiAdvs, 02, or anything else fan wise and I'd put every single project I've planned on hold effective immeditely if it meant taking care of myself during an instance like this

I’m not confident with my art yet (i make waayyy more than I post) nor am I comfortable doing any sort of writing thing. I also don’t have the monetary means to like, give stuff away and send it to someone. So, right now, there is nothing planned and it’ll probably stay like that (who knows, maybe if I hit 1k I’ll do something extra big)

Anyway, on to big news. As you may have noticed, I’ve been getting back into Warcraft. I’ve always loved it, I’ve played the games since I was a kid (literally. I have videos of me playing my druid when I was 3/4). I grew up with WoW. (Now, I don’t want y’all coming into my inbox saying I shouldn’t have been playing that early. I know. It just is what it is, and that can’t be changed now 12 years later. It gave me something early on to love playing and to focus on/dedicate time to besides stuff like sports and school. Just.. don’t.) It was something I fell out of love with when I was at the beginning of my depression a few years ago and replaced with Elder Scrolls, and now that I’m much, much better, I’ve been more involved in all my wow servers and finding wow blogs and even convinced my dad to buy bfa for me. 

Now, I’m not saying I don’t like Elder Scrolls any more. That is far from the case. I love the games very much (the lore less so), and I probably always will.I will keep posting it. This started as a TESblr blog, and it will stay as such, mostly. At the moment, I am planning on switching my URL pfp, and theme either tonight or in the morning, probably more warcraft related just because that’s what I’m more into atm. Who knows, that may change. I’m not sure if the amount of TES posts will decrease, as I’ve been less active recently anyways, but atm I have over 100 warcraft posts in my queue, so it’ll be a lot. You can block the #warcraft tag, as thats what I use for all those posts if you have no interest in that stuff, or you can just unfollow me. I’m not offended if you unfollow, I understand you may not want to see stuff on your dash if you have no interest in it. 

Now, I have a bunch of TES stuff I’m working on. I have writings in my drafts I’m slowly working on (and ch 3 of RoTD), I have art for so many characters with prompts, I have small lore analysis(es? idk what the word is lmao) planned and in my drafts. I have playthroughs I want to do of Oblivion and Morrowind and Arena and Battlespire. I’m not done with TES, not by a long shot. 

TLDR: I am switching over to make this blog much more half TES, half Warcraft. I didn’t want to do it without saying anything, mainly because I can imagine how confusing if I switched everything on my blog without saying anything. Block the tag #warcraft if you don’t want to see that stuff, or just unfollow if it’s that big of a deal. Thank y’all so much for 500 followers and thank y’all so much for putting up with me.

5 ways Fintech improved my day to day life

As a student, my experience with managing finances is not very extensive. I graduated from high school 3 years ago, so you can imagine I’m not a financial expert. However, as a foreigner in Bulgaria, I’m always looking to avoid some challenges that I face when dealing with local banks. Today, there are many things that fintech improved in my life, here are five advantages that I find particularly helpful. 1. Anywhere, anytime Living in a big city, working and studying, there is no time to waste. I spend a lot of time going from uni to work, stuck in traffic jams or just looking for a parking spot around my apartment building. I can’t afford to waste any time on long queues in banks or at the ATM. Flexibility is something that’s very important for my dynamic way of living, it’s not easy balancing my studies, work and social life. I was looking for a solution that would save me time managing my finances. One day when having lunch with my colleagues from work, I expressed my struggle with the online banking app I was using at the time. My friend Anna showed me something on her phone called a digital wallet. I’ve been hooked ever since. A digital wallet gives me the possibility to manage my finances easily and send money in just a few clicks. It’s much more convenient than going to the bank, waiting in a queue and filing documents. Next time I’m having lunch with Anna, I won’t need to withdraw any cash from the ATM. I can pay the bill with my phone and she can send me money in just a few taps.  2. Safety first I have a confession. I’m a bit of a shopaholic. No, not the ones you see strolling through the mall with 15 bags, but the ones that shop online. My favorite email to receive is „Your package is on its way“. I immediately start fantasizing about all the ways I can combine and wear my new clothes. For me, there is nothing worse than receiving my long awaited package and being disappointed when it arrives. Or not receiving my package at all. It has happened quite a few times. I was kind of fed up with wasting my money, so I needed a new way to stay protected. Luckily, I already had found the perfect app, I just wasn’t aware of all of its features. The options of online boutiques are endless, but being safe with my money is always my priority. Fintech keeps me protected from online scams, I know my money is in safe hands when it’s in my digital wallet. With it’s two factor authentication, I’m always sure that no one except for me can access my money. The app’s 24/7 monitoring and real time notifications really give me a peace of mind. I use iCard so I can shop worry-free. 3. Clarity is key How can you learn to manage your money, if you don’t know much money you have? Not long ago, I used to keep my money in separate bank accounts. One for spending and one for saving. I found it difficult to log into different online banking apps every time and wait for my most recent transactions to show. Most online banking apps are slow, it can take up to 3 days to see the different payments you’ve made in one day. This is not very convenient, as I want to know the balance on my bank account at all times. Since I got a digital wallet, I was pleasantly surprised with the ability to have 20 different IBANs. I don’t use all of them, but it’s always nice to know I can have different bank accounts in one app and manage them all from the same place. I now have a much clearer overview of my personal finances and what’s even better is that there are no hidden fees or taxes.  4. Loyalty, loyalty, loyalty I love exploring new things and places, but when I really like something I keep coming back. Quality is something I really appreciate in the products I buy and when I find something good, I make sure to recommend it to all my friends. I mostly get my groceries from the same supermarket, I buy my make up from the same perfumery and I often buy my shoes from the same retailers. Don’t be surprised if you see me and one of my friends in the gym wearing the same brand of sports clothes, or using the same headphones. Most brands have loyalty cards that I’m happy to use. The downside is, I can’t keep all my cards in my wallet and with my Fiat 500, they probably wouldn’t even fit in the trunk of my car! My digital wallet offers a feature that allows me to digitize my loyalty cards. Next time when I’m going grocery shopping, I don’t have to worry about forgetting my loyalty card.  5. Cashless travel Travelling is a big part of my life, I’m constantly going back and forth between Bulgaria and the Netherlands. Travelling is also chaotic for me, as I often have a busy schedule and pack my suitcase in the very last minute. When packing last minute, I don’t have time to go and change my Bulgarian leva’s for euros. I remember last summer when I arrived at the airport in Eindhoven, I had to take a bus to my hometown Venray. I found the bus stop easily and everything went smooth until I got on the bus and had to pay for my bus ticket. I had a lot of luggage with me and I didn’t remember where I put my wallet. I started looking for it in my bag and I eventually found it, but the bus driver was not very happy I was holding up the line behind me. I opened my wallet and took out a 100EUR bill. The driver looked at me, visibly irritated, and asked if I could pay with card. Unfortunately, I only had my Bulgarian card with me, which often doesn’t work at POS terminals in the Netherlands. Long story short, a nice lady that was waiting behind me on the queue, offered to break down my 100EUR bill in bills of 20, and the problem was solved. But the situation could have been avoided, if only I knew about digital wallets back then … Situations like this are one of the main reasons I can’t live without my virtual cards anymore. I have different IBAN accounts for different currencies and I can transfer money in a few seconds. Since downloading the iCard app, I’m always prepared when I travel, even without really preparing. // So my life is a little bit stressful atm, so activity here is probably going to be scattered, more under the cut

First of all, I just got accepted for more work hours, so I’ll be working 5 days a week now (AKA full time). My activity has already plummeted due to my work, so expect even further delays. I’m now generally working off a queue so my blog can at least have some kind of activity during the week, so please don’t bother me in IM’s if I’m being slow (I do have a busy life outside of tumblr). I’m not sure when the new shift will be starting, but if it becomes too stressful, then I’m going to think about dropping some threads--I have a LOT over all my blogs :’D 

As a minor point added to this... I’m really not interested in threads that end up being one para responses. I get it, sometimes things can’t move, but this blog is multi para, and it stresses me to hell and back that I end up writing 3 paras and end up getting a response that is one, or even worse, just two lines. I’m not invested. I’m sorry, but I’m not, and I’m not going to waste my energy on it anymore. I can’t, especially when everything else is already stressful. 

I’m not against that being anyone’s style, that’s totally fine and you do you! I want you to be comfortable and do you when writing, and I don’t want to put pressure on anyone, it just means we’re not a good match, and that’s okay. You will always find people who are a good match, it’s just not me anymore. It’s very stressful for me. 

Secondly, my dad isn’t doing any better. He hasn’t gone in for surgery yet because the doctors have now said that he’s better off getting a heart transplant. My dad is nearly 70, so of course he’s trying to do the noble thing and turned down the offer because he wants someone younger to have the opportunity of a longer life. That’s sweet of him, but it’s also so very concerning because it’s clearly very serious if the doctors are saying he needs an entirely NEW heart...

He’s still going to go in for the triple bypass, but it’s taking a long time. He said possibly this Wednesday. Being interstate and not being there is really stressful for me and I’m getting most of this information second hand from my sister, so it’s delayed and just... it’s just very stressful.

- somehow find time to finish all the Zero gif projects I have running like Ultra Zero Fight, Ultraman Saga, Killer the BeatStar etc. preferably have all my Zero gifs finished before the start of the new ultra series which will start in little over a month....

pffffffff.............. and that’s just the work on the computer, so it’s on top of my actual job and doing household chores and such and apart from the Zero gifs, I only have like two days to do all the others... Kiriya another ending gifs HAVE to be done before the 27th to keep a nice steady upload schedule for the AE movies, the list of nesting boxes for work need to be done before the 30th... lupat 15 gifs need to be done before ep 16 airs obviously and god knows when I’ll have time for the rest....

dang it! xD I finally had a good schedule and workflow going and then the another ending movies were released like one after the other and threw everything off, of course I wanted to see the movies so I’m glad I didn’t had to wait too long between them but it also means I’m getting bombarded with a lot of work in a very short period of time...

hopefully I can get some lupat gifs done in the next two hours before bed so that there’s at least something in the queue for tonight and we’ll see where we go from there tomorrow....

I had a productive week. A bunch of stuff is fixed, and I finished a first version of multi-file url downloading.

multi-file support

A limitation of the old download system is that it always assumed a single 'post URL' could only ever produce a single file. This week, I have added full support for multi-files-per-post-URL to the new downloader. If a new parser generates multiple 'downloadable' URLs, the file import queue will generate and insert new download objects for each. Tags and associable URLs should all be passed along to the children as appropriate.

As a result, I can finally roll out support for several sites that provide files in this way. I've updated the inkbunny post parser, and added twitter tweet and artstation post parsers, so all these should now be drag-and-droppable onto the client. The twitter parser only supports images--no videos yet. The inkbunny parser may put its multi-files slightly out of order, and in one of my tests it pulled the artist profile picture as well, so it may need some tweaking. IB have a proper API, but it requires some login stuff, so I will look at that again when I have the new login system done.

And of course I have added a pixiv manga parser, which has been highly requested for a long time. This was fairly complicated, but I think I got all the referral URLs and tags lined up correct. It can even add 1-indexed page tags. Unfortunately, pixiv just changed my test login to the new (currently broken) JSON/javascript layout just today, as I did final testing. If it turns out pixiv have switched everyone over to the broken layout on the very day I finally roll out manga support, I think my head is going to explode, but even if so, I am confident the javascript layout is parsable--it'll just take a bit more work. I expect to have a fix for all pixiv users for v311 if another user doesn't post one sooner.

This multi-file parsing is a first version. There may be bugs, so please let me know. I also don't really like how the initial post URLs' file import objects get counted as 'successful' like a regular file, so I may make a new 'successfully parsed' type to distinguish them a bit and alter the file progress counts appropriately.

misc

The new 'x% in' video thumbnail generation works better and fails better now, including some better workflow and error-reporting when regen is manually started by the user. If you had some videos that failed to import or regen last week, please try them again and let me know if you still have problems.

The multiple watcher now has a 'check now' button.

I added a semi-crazy prototype checkbox to options->gui that puts all your page tabs on the left. It needs a restart to kick in. Test it at your own risk.

The new download system now informs the new network engine of file limits in your 'file import options'! So, if you say 'don't get gifs bitter than 32MB', and the server clearly identifies a newly started download as a gif with size 50MB, the download will be abandoned and a veto/ignored status set immediately! It also works with the regular min/max filesize as appropriate. Let me know if it goes wrong!

I cleaned up some file repository thumbnail sync and display code all around.

Github got bought by Microsoft, so I am considering migrating somewhere else. I only use Github as a file/code host and the workflow of syncing there is easy, so I may or may not go, or may just put it off and see what happens during the transition. I am interested in your thoughts on the whole deal and what you think of the alternatives.

jumbled around some parameters and merged the two new file import url commands (import 'file' vs import 'post') into one single simple 'work on this url, thanks' call that is now used across the program

the parsing system's 'content parser' no longer fetches file urls and post urls, but 'download urls' and 'source urls'. this helps some pipeline logic and also lets post urls be download urls

when file import objects parse post urls as the urls to download, it now creates 1-n new import objects, just like if multiple file urls.

improved some file import object file association code

refactored the 'seed' code, which handles all basic file import objects, to the new ClientImportSeeds.py

added a new string transformation type, 'integer addition', for shifting page number tags up and down

cleaned up some bandwidth announcement code--now, if bandwidth is due in less time than override time, that will now correctly be the status text

I switched to demon hunter when BfA came out because my guild needed to bring the 5% magic damage debuff and I was struggling to find a class/spec I actually enjoyed playing after they removed ranged survival and didn’t give any sort of second-best substitute.  It’s now been sixteen months and I’m beginning to get incredibly frustrated with my DH—I like her as an alt, but I feel incredibly constrained by her aesthetically because the pool of warglaive or warglaive-like appearances is so tiny (and isn’t likely to grow very much any time soon).  It’s dumb that that’s the kind of thing that can tilt me as hard as it’s been tilting me, but I’ve basically exhausted the appearance pool at this point.

Anyway I told my raid leader that I’d give him a concrete decision on what I was doing for 8.3 by the end of the year, which means I have to figure out what, if anything, I’m going to main switch to.  The big problem is that getting raid-ready at this point takes significantly more time and effort than it ought to at this point in the expansion, because there are no catch-up mechanics for the 8.2 Azerite Essences, and 8.3 isn’t actually going to help with that as far as I can tell (it’s lowering the rep requirement for two of the essences, but isn’t lowering the time or specialized currency requirements for most of the others).  Artifact knowledge helps with unlocking the slots and the 3% stamina bonuses and that’s in a good position, but unfortunately that means nothing when you’ve got nothing to put into those slots in the first place.

So I need to go through and figure out what I’m doing, and since I’m going in circles in my head about it I figured I ought to actually go long form on this MFer.  This is... going to be long, probably.  I don’t know if it’ll even help.  Let’s find out, I guess.

Shaman (elemental focus): + Hybrid (melee, ranged, healer) + One-spec hybrid (no expectation of having to know, gear up, and play both DPS specs the way a mage would) + Mentioned specifically as a thing we could use (ele) + Decent transmog pool (+KT heritage if race changed) - Still has a lot of baggage from when she was my main TBC-MoP - Resto not a fun or intuitive offspec - Condensed Life Force and Blood of the Enemy essentially required (multi-week raid + battlegrounds PvP) for ele - Turret caster (not my preferred playstyle)

Druid (all four specs viable to varying degrees): + Hybrid (melee, ranged, tank, healer) + Best possible offspecs (resto druid has a long history of being good to me in 5-man content, guardian makes sense and meshes well) + Long history and great library of fantastic transmog options with matchable weapons (both 1h and 2h) + Could also be a KT if I really wanted to give up shadowmeld (which is a v tall ask, but y’know) + Currently actually has my name on Skywall (no more having to stop and think before calling something out bc my character name isn’t the name I go by nonsense) - Balance is incredibly unintuitive to play and makes me feel real dumb real fast - Feral is also really not super great (and is melee, and severely limits mog options due to the way the legion artifact cat skins works) - We already have four in raid (one feral, two balance, one resto); would be very obvious very quickly that I’m the weakest link + Vision of Perfection isn’t as good as CLF for balance but only just barely and would at least be an acceptable stopgap while the incredibly long CLF acquisition period happened

Warlock: - Pure DPS (queues and group finder for catch-up, leveling, or maintenance going to be long with no option to play something less fun for less time investment) + Survivable in solo content (ty voidwalker) + Versatile(ish) playstyle with three specs to choose from - ... but that sort of implies that you have to know and play at least 2/3 (if not all 3) - Affliction is the ultimate multi-dot tracking spec and I’ve never found a good way to do that for me + Affliction is as mobile as casters get these days (and as close as you can get to ranged survival in the current game, fuck you blizzard) +/- Unexciting transmog options (but at least since I’ve never mained a clothie it’s all essentially new; on the flip side it also means I don’t own a lot of it already so I’d have to go out farming) - Wands are still A Thing™ - Destruction and Demonology are turret casters - CLF and Blood of the Enemy both incredibly strong (VoP is almost equal to CLF for destro)

Rogue: - Pure DPS - Not solo survivable at low gear levels (never played at high gear levels to know if that changes significantly) - Poisons (only a problem for assassination right now but they’re coming back in shadowlands bc blizzard is stupid so (: love that) - Transmog options limited by weapon type for 2/3 specs - Melee - Honestly why am I even putting them on the list I like Sylenna but I hate everything rogues stand for and would never want to main one lmao

Demon Hunter (havoc focus): + Hybrid (melee/tank) - Melee

- Incredibly limited transmog options (exclusively due to personal brain stuff since they can actually use swords and axes and fist weapons, I just don’t want to.  Also because some of the DH looks look real bad with the dark skin tone my DH uses and I refuse to spend 300g to whitewash her) - RC Loot Council still thinks they can use daggers and it hurts my soul every time - New weapon mog requires multiple bonus rolls over several weeks due to literally nobody else in the raid being eligible for the drops (and praying that extensions don’t happen or you’ll get fucked like in Dazar’alor) + Vengeance is pretty okay in casual dungeon environments (even if it never feels like I have a button to press for emergencies) + Essences are not an issue (b/c she’s already put the time in)

Mage: - Pure DPS - Incredibly not-survivable in solo content at low item levels.  I have never once felt safe in open world content on my mages once they hit max level. - Sharing a class with Cider strikes me as incredibly dangerous to my sanity (since he’s so tryhard about his damage) +/- Unexciting transmog options + I do have the mage MoP CM armor tho! - Wands + Best class mount by leaps and bounds + Ranged + Fire/Frost at least have some mobility options + Being in control of AI and hero so we don’t have to call for them fifty times a pull sounds real nice (except when I want to be the one not paying attention)

Priest (shadow focus): + Hybrid (ranged/healer/healer) + Disc is the only non-druid healing spec I feel at least slightly comfortable in in casual dungeons (though not anything actually challenging) - Shadow is a multidot spec and multitarget multidot is hard to keep track of - Also we have two already (including the guild leader) +/- Unexciting transmog options (exacerbated by shadowform) - Wands + Ranged

Death Knight: + Hybrid (melee/melee/tank) - Melee +/- Unexciting transmog options + Blood doesn’t seem bad as far as tanking specs go - I haven’t touched Unholy since Wrath and supposedly its top dog atm - Let’s just skip over DK for now, honestly—it doesn’t bring anything to the Xella Table that warrior doesn’t also do (except blood > prot)

Warrior: + Hybrid (melee/melee/tank) + Brings a semi-unique buff (Battle Shout for when Irken isn’t around) - Melee +/- Unexciting transmog options + Capable of stealing almost everyone else’s weapon mog, tho—v exciting! - Naha will probably crack jokes about how bad a tank I am and/or how bad my DPS is if I main a warrior again, and regardless of whether it was true or is true, it will quietly tilt me off the face of the planet. - Would need a facelift; current look works fine for an alt but isn’t versatile enough for a main (would also benefit from a name change at the same time, honestly)

Hunter: - Pure DPS + Incredibly survivable in solo content at low item levels - Only has two specs (fuck you blizzard) + Great mog options, both for default look and enough variants to keep me satisfied + Also has quiver options in at least one spec - Not as mobile as it should be + Still more mobile than pretty much any other ranged + Sporey + Ranged + BOWS

- (: - I’d probably tilt myself off the face of the planet within six months anyway, just bc I’d be constantly reminded that ranged survival doesn’t exist anymore which is why I’m playing the inferior spec(s). - Honestly I keep coming up with excuses not to go back to the hunter but I really don’t think it’d be good for me - But I really want to play her or my druid hrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh

Paladin: + Hybrid (melee/tank/healer) + Good offspec (protadin used to be better but is still entertaining, holy is a mystery tho) - Melee + We don’t have one + Utility (blessings and whatnot) - Unintuitive “rotation” - Very expensive to main (don’t have a paladin on Skywall, only 120 paladin at all atm is Horde)

Monk: + Hybrid (melee/tank/healer) - Offspecs are both dodgy (ha, brewmaster pun) - Melee - WW isn’t especially fun to play +/- Brings a unique (de)buff, but we already have two monks in our roster so it’s less an issue of never sitting/never getting to sit than the DH is. - Very expensive to main (the other class I don’t have on Skywall atm)

Travel day, and day 1

Our travel day started off well, but slowly started to descend into minor chaos. Lucy woke up around 11pm from an apt nightmare about missing our flight, and so the pair of us decided not to go back to sleep. This was partially so we would definitely be up in the morning, and partially so both of us might be tired enough to sleep on the flight. We tried the TV in our room, however this unfortunately didn’t work at all! We ended up chatting and playing random app games until 4:30, when we both got ready to head out for the day.

A taxi hailed by the front desk got us to Terminal 4, WHSmiths got me a lock for my suitcase - I had been unable to find mine before leaving home, and we finally got our cases checked in around 6:15.

Time for security, which I think is everyone’s least favourite part, but was definitely Lucy’s nemesis today! As well as being selected for the dreaded body scanner, her backpack was also selected for screening 😣 In contrast, I sailed right through for a change! (I seem to get all the random checks when travelling alone on planes - this is even more terrifying when you get pulled to the side whilst an officer speaks to you in German and all the German you know flies out your brain like whoosh). Security over, we had a browse of the shops and popped into Costa for a drink and a sit down until our gate was announced.

Bing! What’s that phone? Oh, delayed 45 minutes? I mean, that’s rough, but not the end of the world, our connection is still doable.

Just as if to prove me wrong, pretty much as soon as I said this another text arrived, putting the time back to 10am. This was...not so doable. At this point, Lucy is beginning to freak out that her nightmare is coming true, and quite honestly despite the brave face I was trying to put on to keep calm, so was I! Luckily no more texts were received, and we boarded the plane at 9:40 - which was definitely pushing it but hey if the plane took off at 10 we still had time before boarding opens!

*sigh*. I really should stop jinxing myself, because sod’s law took over and made us take off at 10:20. This meant that as we landed at 12:25 in Paris, we had 5 minutes before boarding opened, and it was looking increasingly unlikely that we were going to make it. We managed to jump off the plane at 12:40, and the pair of us literally sprinted as fast as our legs would carry us!

Charles de Gaulle unfortunately has another set of security when changing flights, and this is where all hope started to seem lost as Lucy got selected for bag screening again! We explained this to the officer and he very kindly did the fastest yet thorough bag check he could, and we continued our sprinting to the gate, allllllll the way down the end of the terminal! (Because of course it would be!)

Fortunately, the Japan gods seemed to be on our side, as check in had not yet closed! As we made our way onto the plane I received a notification that check in was closing ASAP, so we made it literally by the skin of our teeth.

Crisis averted and butts in seats, we finally were on our flight bound for Tokyo! Lucy settled in on the IFE with either Ant Man or Crazy Rich Asians - I initially debated whether to start watching Ralph Breaks The Internet, but figured I would start watching films after the dinner service. Instead, I settled in with the inflight map, whilst listening to Muse (Simulation Theory, in case anyone was wondering!)

Shortly afterwards, the hostesses came round with a wet towel, round of drinks, and some rosemary crackers. I initially wasn’t sure if I would like them, but they tasted a bit like focaccia bread in cracker form! They also went well with the apple juice I ordered, however after this light snack I was still hungry and dragged a Twix from my bag. After a play through of the album, I finally decided to start an episode of Family Guy when we were somewhere over Copenhagen, thinking food would be coming soon. This turned out to be a smart move, as the second the episode finished it was our turn to be served food!

Our choices today consisted of chicken in sauce, or Japanese style beef curry. I love Japanese curry, so decided to go for the beef, which did not disappoint! Yes, it’s airplane food. Yes, it will never be as good as the real thing served up in an actual restaurant. But for airplane food? The beef was tender and well seasoned, the sauce was delicious and easy on the tastebuds, and the rice wasn’t too soggy or too hard. Chase that down with Camembert and proper french butter on a roll, and a delicious lemon and poppy seed cake, and I was content.

However, I did leave the salad - I’m honestly not a great fan of vegetable salads, especially when smothered in mayo. Lucy has the same meal as me and tried the salad - she ended up leaving it as it was no bueno for her.

I kept an eye on the skymap whilst we ate; we were now flying over Helsinki! The flight seemed to be going really fast at this point, however there was still another 9 hours to go. I settled in and watched a documentary about airbus beluga planes, Lucy listened to some music, and then we both tried to have a nap. Emphasis on the ‘try’. After a lot of tossing and turning, a 30 minute food documentary break, and a change of album from Red Hot Chilli Pepper’s Greatest Hits to a Nirvana compilation, I managed to catch a disjointed 2/3 hours of sleep. Lucy was unable to sleep, and therefore watched another film before poking me awake around 2 hours before decent, taunting me that I missed the ice cream rounds xD

It was not long after I woke up that I began to notice a peculiar smell coming from the galley behind us - I figured this was breakfast, but it had a very strong smell of something that was making me feel ill. However, when food was brought round an hour before landing, breakfast tasted a lot better than it smelt!

This was a scrambled egg, vegetable and...some sort of starch medley - unfortunately I couldn’t read all of the French on the front. The smell I realised after tasting it was most likely soy; whilst I love soy sauce in many things, if I whiff the bottle directly? Nope. This went down with a roll, butter and strawberry jam, plus a nice creamier tasting french version of what I assume was actimel, and a madeline. There was also what I thought was a very fruity yoghurt as the front said ‘apple vanilla’ in French, but as it looked and tasted like baby food one tiny bite of this was enough for me.

Shortly after this, we began the decent, landing cards were completed, and we landed safely at Narita airport. At this point I began to have an ‘oh my god, is this actually real?’ moment, and felt quite emotional. I have wanted to visit Japan since I was 14, and never truly thought I would ever get to make it happen. It still doesn’t quite feel real at the minute! My mind was constantly narrating as we exited the plane such gems as ‘oh my god, I’m standing on a Japanese escalator!’ (Which, in hindsight, I am so glad I did not say out loud!).

On to immigration! Here I have another tip: you’re going to need a black or blue pen, and pick up an immigration card from the desk by the queue. Sit in one of the seats and fill it out. Do not pass go, do not collect £200.

Yes, the card you filled out on the plane...was not the whole story. You need to fill out an immigration card also alongside the customs landing card, which you are not told about on the plane, nor is it particularly well signposted until you get to the end of the queue and the official at the line directing you to a attended booth for fingerprints and photographs takes a look at your documents and tells you you need one to proceed.

Which is fine, but then please don’t be like me and fill the form out in red pen, because you will get kicked out the queue yet again to fill it out on a dark colour. No where is it stated that red pen is the work of the devil, but these things happen so off I went to do as the man said. Ah, Japanese bureaucracy at it’s finest!

It was around this point I turned my phone on and connected to the free WiFi, and my heart immediately sank. You see, I had one more fear that I did not tell Lucy about, knowing that it was most likely going to happen due to the short connection and not wanting her to worry, and I had just had it confirmed.

‘Your baggage items will not be delivered upon arrival. They are still in transport. Please visit the baggage desk for further information’. At this point, given the baggage situation, the third time round I jumped in the line I felt so dejected, like ‘please, dear lord, let this be it!’.

This time round the gentleman waved me through, I passed through immigration, met up with Lucy (who was fortunate enough to have filled the form out in blue pen the first time round after our queue kicking), and together waited in a queue with a lot of people from the same flight.

This was also where I experienced Japanese bureaucracy and efficiency at it’s finest - the desk staff were working so hard to explain the situation, advising how to fill in yet another form to confirm the loss of the baggage and open claims for everyone, and were then escorting people to Customs so they could be processed (as obviously we were no longer accompanied by baggage, the lost baggage forms had to be processed so Customs can check the baggage after its arrival). We were also advised that we would get the equivalent of $100 a person that would be refunded for the purchase of essentials upon providing receipts - assuming the delay is only as long as the day they stated, this is actually a better deal than our travel insurance!

Finally, finally we were free on Japanese soil - and all we wanted to do was get to the hotel and de stress. Not to be, as check in was not until much later in the day, and we now needed to purchase a change of clothes.

At this point, I decided to get out a bit of extra cash at a 7-11 atm, praying the whole time my card would not get blocked, and internally cheering when I was presented with a wad of cash. My second stop was to grab my newly purchased Passmo (a bit like an Oyster card, but it can be used across Japan, and not just London), and complete a childhood dream - paying for a drink at a vending machine with your train pass.

Okay, yes, that sounds really lame nowadays when we have contactless payments and you can use your phone to buy pretty much anything. However, back in college before this technology really even existed as more than a concept in the west, I saw a video on YouTube of a guy paying for his drink using his IC card, and this basically cemented the idea that ‘Japan is this cool place that thinks outside the box why do we not have this man I wanna go there’. And now I have. So I did xD

Peach coca cola in hand (10/10 would buy again, the Diet Coke version at home is far inferior), we jumped on the Sky Access train (half the price of the Skyliner, with only a couple more stops, plus you don’t need a reserved ticket) to the Skytree and its shopping mall to pick up some clothes, and other bits like a hairbrush or face wipes. I ended up going in Uniqlo, and in there I saw the cutest Moomin shirt :D So of course I brought it! I also grabbed a pair of shorts, a shirt, and some clean underwear to change into, and then after browsing a bit more we hit up a Combini for lunch as the food hall in the Solamachi was packed.

I chose a onigiri with chilli oil filling (it had a sort of umami taste, with sesame I think?) and Lucy had a cheeseburger. But that’s okay, because she got to enjoy that they will put it in the microwave for you! We also both picked out a pastry each, for which I went for a choco-coronet and Lucy went for a croissant which ended up having a delicious sugar crust on top!

At this point we still had time to kill, so it was time for a browse around outside in the fresh air. Cherry blossoms were still in bloom, albeit barely, so we took a moment to admire these before moving swiftly onwards, and finding a gacha shop.

For the uninitiated, a gacha shop is full of gachapon machines (gachapon being tiny capsules filled with toys, like what’s in a kinder egg but not encased in chocolate), all selling different collectible sets. From this with the meagre change I currently had, I ended up with a Hogwarts hufflepuff badge, a tiny Iron Man, and a Sylveon keychain. All fairly decent pulls.

Another wander, a jump on the subway one more stop, and we were checking into our hotel. More on the hotel hopefully later, but I can confirm it is very very nice :)

For today, that is where I will have to stop, as Lucy has been sleeping pretty much since (a full 24+ hours without sleep will wreak havoc on you, yikes), and I have been pottering around trying out things like the indoor slippers, and heated toilet seats (11/10, need one for home so I don’t freeze my arse off when attending the ladies room).

Cash is King.

Today I drove through Zims countryside to Bulawayo for 70kms by mistake. It was beautiful. Dry and deserty with rocks and heaps and heaps of goats everywhere. Many donkeys too and whole dirt road shoulders for donkey carts.

When I returned back to to Beitbridge town after my detour I remembered that I needed to get more cash - having spent most of it on the border already.

I filled up with petrol and asked for an ATM. The attendant directed me to a petrol station further back- the guy there said there is no cash but to go to the shop further back. Same thing - no cash. I asked the nearby guard where else I could go and he just simply said it’s Sunday- there won’t be anywhere. He told me to try do a ‘cash-back’ from the Spar. So I went inside and the cashier tells me that I have to buy at least 20$ worth of groceries to get 20$ cash back. And I said if I wanted more - say 50$? Then I had to get 50$ worth of groceries. And I asked her if she’s serious and people in the queue were laughing at how fucked up it was but it was all true.

By the way I have ascertained that the dollar in question is Zimbabwean dollar- but new bond notes that were recently brought into circulation.

So I now cannot get cash out of an ATM. And I can get cash out of a supermarket supposing my card works when swiped- but I’d need to buy groceries. I could also offer to buy someone their groceries and receive their cash payment. I counted my cash. R500 Definitely enough for petrol to masvingo- the halfway point to Harare. And if I slept over there I might hopefully be able to get an open bank with cash in it the next day. I literally don’t know if I’ll be okay. I’ll let you know.

Ps I found four donkey carcasses along the road. Is there an epidemic? Or are they being driven over- they look well fed enough all over. Donkeys are such wonderful big soft lovely things. Seeing one of their limp bodies up close and then being devoured by maggots from the inside is raw. When driving past one you can smell it long before seeing it. With their legs stiff in the air, bellies swollen. I am disconcerted strangely by how they are not being used. They just lie there legs out. Surely then it must be disease? If people are not taking their skins or the meat? Why aren’t they being burnt then or something?

Monday 10 July Visa doesn’t work anywhere It’s two PM ive been to three banks stood in queues for hours and hours Everyone says go to Barclays. They don’t take visa either. Petrol stations let me swipe and I get declined every time.

When I came out from the bank I saw my motorcycle was leaking. It was leaking fuel from the tank. It must have been bumped over and put back on its feet by someone. By now I was feeling hot and sweaty and in a big big panic and now this. I took out my tools and tried to clamp the hole down closed. It seemed better. I decided to just put all my cash into fuel tanks and drive to Harare where my friend Liberty would help me sort out this cash crisis. I filled up with my last r200 cash in my fuel bottles. Then liberty messaged me but isn’t it dangerous. And I stopped in my tracks! Yes! Of course it’s dangerous why wasn’t I thinking about how I wanted to drive with a leaking tank that drops fuel over my hot engine- am I a crazy face?

Luckily I have a friend in Harare. I used one of my last dollar coins to buy airtime and called him.

I asked him if there isn’t a way for him to send me money. By cellphone or something. I’ve been seeing a lot of cellphone cash adverts and even saw a news headline about how sex workers accept money transfers on their phones. He thought about it for a bit and said I would have to go get myself registered for eco cash. But all I needed was a copy of my passport and I had this. A tiny smidgeon of hope grew inside me.

I went in search of an ecocash store. I was sent around quite a bit but eventually found one. I luckily had premade copies of ID and everything I needed luckily but they said the number was already registered to someone- so I needed to buy a new one. I gave them a dollar and got 50c in return. Now upon closer inspection I realize someone gave me ten Rand instead of a 2dollar note. So I have less than a dollar, ten Rand note and fifty cents left. I please called me my friend Liberty and I am now sitting on the sidewalk next to my bike reeking of petrol, waiting for him to send me cash. I am planning to head back with my bike to where I stayed last night so I can empty my tank and try plug the tank with steel putty. Hopefully this will work

6:18 pm this was at around two pm Since then my very wonderful partner Sonya had tirelessly been looking into ways of sending me money via money share and western union and all sorts of things- we almost just managed to get cash through western union but they were closing for the day. Sonya googled around and found me a hotel in masvingo that accepts visa and eft and sent me the address. I arrived here feeling half dead having had only a cup of yoghurt for breakfast this morning and this massively crazy day. It’s quite an expensive place even though there isn’t hot water in our communal bathroom. But my card worked and they are giving me supper and breakfast and what can a cashless hobo want more in life than to hold a key to a room where I can put down my things I’ve been guarding on a bike all day, take off my shoes and have kind people find me a bucket to put my fuel into(having stupidly filled my jerry cans earlier). I have sort of managed to look at the tank with my head torch an it seems like it is rusty in those corners and might actually not have been bumped but simply have said a final no-thank-you to life and let the fuel through. There is also when the paint started peeling what seems to be an old brazing weld in a copper color underneath the paintwork. It must have been fixed professionally. I am worried that simply playing with steel putty won’t work because it is such an awkward shape I won’t be able to get it in there properly even

So I think I will leave the can empty for the night and if I have more hope for plugging it tomorrow, do it-else I will attempt to find a radiator fixing place who will be able to do the job. If I cannot find a place I will probably have to plug it best I can and make my way to Harare I’m reading online about all sorts of temporary fixes like plugging it with soap. I have wifi now but could not read about any solutions earlier.

Going to research more money transfer ways. A man who works at the hotel said that Mukuru is a really good way to get cash from South Africa. So I’m looking into it. Didn’t expect that not researching zim properly would leave me so stranded so quickly. I really really wish I knew about this before. Can someone just smack earlier me for me please? Thanks.
