hey! another finnish vegan here!

I guess I'll just write some of my thoughts here.

- I hate it when I follow someone here and then they post pictures of "meat", or as I like to call it, mutilated corpses, especially when that particular person makes great art or writes amazing stuff or something, and I have to unfollow them

- I love how much better my relationship to food has become since I became vegan! Previously I had to force myself to eat, and when I did, I saw all those animals that had to suffer in my mind's eye. Then I realise I hurt others more than myself by this, and stopped eating animal products. Now I make food at home for my parents and myself all the time, sometimes several times a week! I actually enjoy food! I didn't understand why people said food could be good and enjoyable back then, but now I go to school lunches and eat my tofu or soijarouhe (don't know what that is in English, possibly soy groats) and actually think "this is so good" and then I eat my bread with hummus on it and for a few moments I think life might be decent afterall, you know. I even toyed with the thought of becoming a chef to a vegan restaurant when I get a bit older, but that wouldn't really be for me. I want to be a veterinarian, so maybe, just maybe, I could try to make the life of animals better. Or even ease some of the pain of those who are coming to their ends.

- Personally I don't understand when people say they couldn't be vegan because of cheese, or seem to think I made some kind of sacrifice when I gave cheese made from dairy up. I didn't. I just saw all of those pictures taken from the farms that "produce" milk by exploiting and hurting poor animals, and I felt no regret, ever. I don't really use vegan cheese much, pretty much only as a topping for pizza on special occasions. (Obviously I'm applauding for all the vegans who did struggle to get over (dairy) cheese. You did the right choice and I'm so proud of you!)

Also, a question for you: Do you think it is right to call an animal "se" (it) in Finnish when talking? As background information for those who are not Finnish, in casual talk people often call other people "se" too.

I don't think it'd be wrong to do that, but I avoid it myself. All animals are "hän" (a third person pronoun, gender neutral) for me. Maybe they wouldn't be, if everyone or at least the majority of people understood their inherent worth as living, feeling beings.

🧀 - i agree, after i connected the dots and went vegan all of the arguments i made as a meat eater sound SO weird to me. i like how cheese tastes very much but because of the animal suffering involved i never really missed it again after going vegan. "taste or life?" is the best way to put it! but indeed vegans who struggled to give up cheese or really miss it are absolutely legends! :D

🐷 - okay so my situation with finnish pronouns is pretty weird 😅 basically, i have always used "se" for everyone. my family and friends all use "se" for everyone. it just comes so naturally ehehe... unless i'm talking about someone in front of them, then i'm more... alert? animal rights is such an important subject to me so when i talk about it i'm very alert as well. i do often use the "hän" pronoun for the reason you mentioned. sp it can help others consider how other animals are important individuals too 😁

I think it is so frustrating and sad you have to not even tag things to avoid getting hate like adding anti tags should be enough but even then I just don’t understand why people are so so so sensitive about opposing opinions. I have a more nuanced opinion of Dany than 99% of Dany fans in that I acknowledge her darkness although I also don’t fully agree with everything you said about her. It’s not worth writing it up bc that’s not the point of this ask (long story short I think she’s inclined to violence at first but we see her being sickened by the memory of it aside from burning MMD which is a special case I could talk at length about, and I am intrigued by that conflict within her character). And I am so wholly unbothered by your interpretation and opinion of the character. I like your content a lot and it’s nice to be able to read opinions that conflict with mine mixed in with things I agree with and I honestly don’t understand why other people don’t feel the same way. Which isn’t judgement. People are allowed to want to see only things they agree with. But it is so foreign to me. We are talking about a book series here.

As an entirely unrelated side question: do you have a post anywhere talking about the reader in your fic or have you left her as more of a blank slate? I’ve never been interested in x reader fic but I love Jon and want to read yours but what I worry about x reader content is that the reader won’t be enough of a blank slate. I am also simply curious about what you have thought up about her whether or not the fic ends up being for me

I'm totally fine with other opinons, but I have had issues before of being harassed over my opinons of Dany before and I would rather not tempt fate because it was pretty brutal last time. I also don't enjoy debate, because I don't use my blog as a platform to entertain that kind of discussion, I like open minded discussion of similar ideas and using different opinons to explain my side. But I do not wish to have a back and forth of totally disagreeing sides, that is not fun to me that gives me anxiety.

I'm fine with people thinking my interpretation of Dany is overly extreme, because I do understand what about her people like and why one may disagree. But debating someone about those issues isn't why I like talking about her. I like exploring a character not defending why I have a stance over and over again. But Dany stans have been unforgiving in the past and I don't want to risk it. And I don't want to platform debates and hostile arguments on this blog.

I made a Sansa post earlier which stemmed from someone whom I follow that made a point I did not agree with, but I did not go directly to them or add to their post. I made my own as to not be negative in a space talking positively about a character or subject. I dont belive in hijacking someones post to argue against what they are saying or going into there inbox to yell at them for it either, I dont think it is a productive way to get your point across. I prefer making my own posts where I can logically display my opinions and why in a well thought out manner, not argue with someone personally.

But Dany stans are not fond of me, and so I sometimes don't tag at all, soley out of anxiey because having a barrage of disagreeing opinions angry in my inbox insulting and demeaning me was what happened last time. So I avoid it to not create a hostile enviroment for my own followers as well.

As for my story, I appreciate you expressing interest but I cannot speak as to the degree of a blank slate reader. I try to not inundate the story with an overly vocal or overly involved reader, I try to blend her into the background of the story without being obtrusive or give her to strong of a vivid personality, but the reader does have a character consistency throughout.

I would suggest reading a little bit of the first chapter, because its pretty indicative of the style in which I portray the reader and make your decision from there. I don't want to mislead you one way or another but the first few scenes should give you a solid idea as to if it is your cup of tea or not.

Either way, thank you for your message I appreciate when someone who thinks differently then I do does not see the value in personally attacking someone for it, and expressing interest in my story, if you read it or not I am flattered either way you are very kind!

2023, November, my first post…

What about giving healing one more chance in order to recover?

Aren’t you already tired of yourself and your life? Do you often feel like it’s too much to handle? Do you feel like you’re not going anywhere or in a bad direction? Do you feel overwhelmed by just doing a simple tasks? Do you want to change?

Let me guess..

You are for long years in this state of mind where you feel FRUSTRATION of how you live your life because you feel powerless over it and your last 6 years were just full of some crap called trauma(s) and consequences that comes with of being traumatized over and over again (in some cases with the same traumatic event again just in different time, on different space…)

Spending time in such enviroment can easily leave you traumatized and even more if you are experiencing it over and over again.

You feel exhausted after doing just simple tasks? And don’t you even have a trouble with concentrating, staying focused on whatever? Is going to public spaces too much?

Your life is constantly falling apart and you think it’s just because of the fact that you’ve done wrong everything what you possible could’ve done?

You didn’t set any boundaries to yourself neither to other people because you feel like you don’t deserve anything?

You don’t feel that it’s right when someone says something pleasent about you, because you’re only used to hearing how bad person you are, how you let other people down.. Do you see the fact that you focus more on those frases that demonstrates how bad person you are than on anything what’s appreciating you?

Are you so unhappy every single living day, wanna unalive yourself but youˇve tried many times so you don’t believe you are able to quit this world…

So if you’re choosing the path of recovery …

Nobody said it will be easy but it will be worth it. Do something for your inner child. Chase that hope of better tomorrows like you did when you was hurt for the first time. You probably know all of this, you have creative mind, big heart and free space to use your own head.

Now it’s time to make a change, you won’t get better if you wouldn’t follow your heart. I mean if everything’s stayed so wrong and you tried everything to make it different but you came to conclusion that your surroundings is not the problem, your view on things and life is.

It’s easier to stay at place and don’t make anything about your miserable state.

What is my purpose there, what are my intentions and who i am?

We have to move in order to survive. Let me say that I’m just the same as you. I’ve been thru a couple of traumatic events and due to it my personality has splited into pieces.

I decided to write this kind of stuff blog to get sort of better perspective on things i know about but i can’t change anyhhing about. I want to be educative chanel and i also wish to help someone who could be possible reading those words. Also there’s thing that i set myself this work to get myself though my upcoming crisis. When the autumn dark nights come, i get the feeling of nostalgia and sadness. It’s not just the sadness. The thing is that the autumn of the year 2017 was the time in my life when i firstly felt what it’s like to be 100% desperate. I was diagnosed with severe depression that time and eventhough I’m on my meds, i still get some sense of the old vibes and this year I’m feeling it much more than i think i would.

My current thoughts on Sonic Frontiers

With the unstoppable courage Get a fire pow- Oh wait, wrong Frontier.

So, almost a week ago we got a new trailer for Sonic Frontiers and...my thoughts are pretty mixed, so I’ll just get out of the way what I thought of the trailer itself.

To be frank, I actually loved it! My main critique is the obvious lack of gameplay, which is a red flag considering SEGA’s own confidence in the project. I think it can’t be stressed enough the fact that by this point we SHOULD have some footage of actual gameplay, granted what we say wasn’t all CGI but we shouldn’t have to wait more to see how Sonic plays in this game. I just hope that SEGA is indeed doing this for the sake of giving a surprise to the audience instead of more unfortunate reasons like a lack of confidence or progress.

About the aesthetic itself...if I’m honest, I wanted a less cartoony and whimsical Sonic game for a long time, however I have to point out that the enviroment is guilty of suffering of the ‘’Sonic on Unreal Engine 4 Fan Game’’ syndrome, since at first glance it looks generic and unremarkable. However, I also saw some interesting bits that makes me hope this new enviroment will have a chance to stand out on its own during gameplay. I am aware of the BotW comparisons but let’s be honest, that game was a big hit and it’s impact on other open world games is to be expected, so I don’t see the point in calling this a BotW rip-off. From my perspective at least, it’s like calling a Metroidvania a rip-off of Super Metroid or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night...when it has become a standard for games in the genre to use those titles as reference because of the impact they made.

Now here’s the interesting part...the story.

This post might get outdated in days because apparently the plot summaries we got are inaccurate, but I’m still going to give my two scents on what we actually have to work with.

So far the premise we got of the story is that Eggman discovers an ancient technology, installs an AI program to hack it and then it turns out this gets out of his control and now Sonic has to save the day.

I’m going to be frank here...

This premise is absolute garbage.

I’m not usually the one to jump to negative conclusions regarding Sonic, and anyone who follows my blog knows that, but I’m also not going to pretend this is fine and I will quickly explain why.

The reason this premise is so bad is because its yet ANOTHER plot of ‘’Oh, Eggman awakens an ancient monster but he gets upstaged because he can’t control it’’ and to be frank, I don’t even want to give it the benefit of the doubt because this trend should have stayed dead, period. We already have 10 games with this shitty ‘’Eggman gets fucked up’’ plotline, so why do it AGAIN, specially when the post-2010 games, in spite of all their flaws, have moved on from this?

I’m just gonna ask a simple question to illustrate how pointless this trend is.

Why shouldn’t this franchise have new antagonist who don’t need to upstage Eggman to stand out?

And it’s not like they never did this before, the Storybook games had Erazor Djinn and Merlina and it turns out they’re more memorable than the majority of generic villains this series has that had to upstage Eggman to prove their worth.

In fact, with this premise I can be sure that the antagonist is going to have the personality of a cardboard box and I can assure Eggman is going to get upstaged in a stupid way.

Besides, it’s been apparently confirmed that Ian Flynn is writing the script of the game. I know that there are a lot of folks hyped for this but to be honest, Ian shouldn’t be writing for the games since he has proven to be unreliable with his hijinks in the comics, particularly his superficial understanding of the characters and his habit of bending characterization for the sake of plot convenience.

The fact that the Metal Virus arc in the comics ended up with Eggman being upstaged to ‘’raise the stakes’’ is part of the reason I’m sure Flynn will play the premise of ‘’Eggman fucks up because plot needs new villain’’ painfully straight.

I know someone will inevitably say

‘‘But Flynn is better than Pontaff!’‘

And yes, he is...but here’s the big question. Is that enough?

Because really, Pontaff didn’t set the bar high to begin with, and Flynn has more than a decade under his belt repeating the same writing mistakes, to the point that the recent Sonic Encyclo-speed-ia is filled with errors regarding continuity and game events...and if we speculate that Ian probably did this on purpose to fit his headcanons into the canon, then it’s even worse. I find it very ironic that the fandom preaches about not accepting mediocrity in Sonic, and yet it lowered its standards so much that they’re happy to have consistently mediocre writing because ‘’It’s better than Pontaff’’. If the characters are going to be bent whenever the writer sees it fit, then Pontaff and Flynn are interchangable, the only difference is that the later’s writing pretends better to be IC.

Am I really supposed to be hyped about the games’ writing resembling this in the future?

Please bring Maekawa or Nishiyama back instead.

On a side note, Ian writing for the games also worries me in the long run because it means that now he has a more direct influence on the canon, and considering what I just mentioned that’s far from a good thing. Because if Ian doesn’t care about bending the canon if it suits whatever he’s writing at the moment, the results will be incosistencies that will slowly but surely pile on each other until it becomes obvious and I certainly don’t like the sound of that.

I know I’ve been pretty harsh with Ian Flynn but really, I’m just tired of his influence on the franchise as of late. And regardless of the fact that I’m tired of Sonic having western writing, I would be more open minded if not only Ian actually tried to improve from his trademark writing mistakes, but also if his fans stopped excusing every controversial take or writing choice he does, specially considering that apparently he can only do wrong when SEGA is involved according to them.

I don’t think he’s a bad writer per se, but I would definitely take anyone else over him to write for the actual canon games.

Anyway, I hope the actual plot of this game is not another Eggman getting upstaged story, but if it turns out only minor details revealed to us were innacurate, then my grievances still stand. I just hope Frontiers at the very least turns out to be a good enough game to make up for the potential problems its writing might have.

woof other anon completely misses the point of fanfic--and also completely misrepresents published work at the same time.

there was a post here on tumblr a couple/few years back where a former editor for a publishing company during the Twilight Craze talked about the sheer girth of the vampire romance stories they got. And they said, straight up, that even some of the worst fanfics were more tolerable than the stuff that actually got published back then.

just because something got published doesn't mean its somehow the Best Writing Ever, it can easily just tie into whatever is a popular trend at the time. publishing companies, after all, have to follow marketing trends to keep making money. quality of work isn't always their biggest concern lmao

also angst isn't. trauma porn? like, if you go the route of no happy endings, than romeo & juliet is trauma porn. if you go the route of bad things just keep happening, its literally every long running series ever.

trauma porn is another one of those terms these days that people throw around that used to have a specific definition but now people just use it to describe 'bad things happen to characters and you LIKE it??' time vibe and i'm sorry to tell other anon but.

technically the DSMP itself with count as trauma porn in that case.

further: what does that mean? 'the writing has no substance'? it just sounds like the author's writing style has no appeal for the anon. or that just the general fanfic style isn't appealing for that anon.

like, genuinely, i don't actually like how the lord of the rings books were written. this is not a dig at tolkien: he wrote the books in his style and his style just happens to not appeal to me at all. that's just how it is.

other anon, going out of your way to insult an entire community of people isn't very Pogchamp of you. smh

I just want to clarify something here: other Anon did say that they wrote that pretty late when they were tired and preventively informed me that their opinion on the matter would be negative, and I have absolutely nothing against them for expressing it.

After all, any discussion is worth having in my opinion, as long as everyone involved is respectful.

That said, yes, I do agree that their problem with fanfiction sounded more like a matter of personal preference, while the generalized wording of it made it feel as if it was an objective fact. Which, of course, again, fanfiction often isn't really written to appeal to other people as much as it's written so the author can have fun, and I'd say that's the main difference between it and published works more so than being an issue of quality.

Also, you do raise a good point about the whole "trauma porn" thing. I'm so tired of seeing it thrown around by a bunch of pretentious kids who sound like they've never read a book in their life. There are plenty of books out there were things keep going worse and worse and they're widely recognized as wonderful pieces of literature. There is literally no limit to how horribly things can go for a certain character, the only limit there is given by your personal preference in the matter. And in the foster aus that were mentioned the limit is normally pretty low? Like, "kid was treated badly, and is now in a loving enviroment where he's able to slowly heal" is hardly dark content, I'm sorry. The dsmp explores much darker themes most of the time from what I've seen.

It's just something that slightly annoys me when I see it talked about.

I already know I’ll be getting hate from this especially in my inbox but I feel like it's my time to show my side of the story. While the last time I talked to Io was in July 2021, what has happened still affects me to this day.

Most likely Io, was known as IoWriting but I can’t find their account so I assume they are gone, may try to e-kill me for this but I’m tired of being treated like a villain in this situation.

Also after this I'd like to never talk about this again. Subjects involving Io and the state I was in while around 2021.

These aren’t just my experience, I have collected experience with other people with these two

Also this is in no ill intent towards either people, I hope they both get the help they need but to just bring awareness to what me (and other people) have experience due to IoWriting

We’ll start with probably the one that no one is surprised about, Io has a history of abuse to people that they are close to and manipulation. While many of my conversations with Io have been deleted, there is still much much proof against Io as being very different from the person they try to appear as

To summerize this the best I can: Io shows a lot of guiltripping and manipulating in this discord message to their former partner. Now I'm not here to speak for Moth because Moth is perfectly capable of doing that for themself but just reading this really shows the kind of person that Io is. The kind of person that Io tried to hide.

Io hid how dangerous and abuse that they could be behind a persona online and would proceed to make lies and send their army after anyone that did anything against them.

I believe personally that Moth did more for Io than was deserved. Moth had done their best to get Io help, even helping Io get out of an abuse enviroment and offering them a place to stay; but this was just another weapon against Moth to guilt trip and manipulate.

While knowing that Moth had their own problems to deal with, Io constantly put their problems onto Moth. Now I'm not gonna post everything on Moth's account here so if you want more backstory feel free to visit Moth's account (if you're over 18 please)

I believe with 100% seriousness that Io needs serious help, help that while constantly yelling at others to get, Io avoids.

Now is Moth's screenshots the entire story? No, but there will be more on that later.

Io would constantly preach about others getting help mentally but would refuse to do the same for themself. When Moth would beg Io to seek help, it was ignored. If anyone that Io didn't like had a mental issue it was Io's weapon against them. Io would constantly use my own disorder against me (BPD) as an excuse to hate me. Everytime that I felt the need to hurt myself or attempt suicide it was used as a weapon.

Now I will admit, in 2021 I had my issues as well. I was not a good person, I was not good mentally, I was not good physically. I was abusing alcohol and in and out of homes on the verge of homelessness.

I was not good, I never said I was. Have I grown as a person now in 2022, yes, I believe I'm a better person now surrounded by better people and getting perfessional help.

I will say it again, I was an awful person in 2021, abusing anything I could get my hands on. Io had ever right to be upset with me for how I was acting but Io did not have the right to say I was lying about my experiences.

Io was aware of my experience with therapists and the abuse I've been under through multiple therapists. When someone has been constantly hurt and harassed by, of course I'm gonna be scared to go to another one. While now I'm with a good therapist before I was terrfified to be hurt again so of course I was gonna be hestitant.

If you tell a child for years that if they touch water they will drown, when they actually have to go in water they aren't gonna jump straight in. Bad example but hey it works.

I do suffer with borderline personality disorder (BPD), yes I have a disconnect to others but it doesn't mean I'm a total sociopath like Io likes to make it seem like I am.

I would post the rest of what Io said in the end message but it was just more of them yelling at me and calling me an awful person and I think that was already brought up enough.

While Io says they are begging others to get help, they constantly refuse it themself. There are serious serious issues with Io that I seriously wish they got help with but alas, they refuse to. Io abuses the power they have over people. I was planning to make this post earlier but I wanted to wait till Io was gone to say anything purely out of fear. I was terrified of Io.

Io seems to be a pathological liar. Io has claimed things against people that were just completely untrue or making a situation seem way worse than it was purely from making lies.

As some may know, I had both a sfw and a nsfw account. The nsfw account was purely an 18+ account and none of my mutuals on the sfw were to interact with that account. Issue was that Io made up complete lies with that part to make me look bad that I was having minors in nsfw spaces.

This was not true, Io showed a screenshot of a minor reacting to a post of mine that was on the sfw account which allowed minors and claimed that I was letting a minor in an nsfw space with little to no evidence.

Io also shows signs of dangerous behavior, going as far as to dox people! Moth, Io's former partner, shared much personal information about Moth on an account of over 600 people without Moth's permission, this is doxing.

Io also shows signs of obsessive behavior, blocking people just to unblock them to stalk them and block them again. By blocking someone you are setting a boundry with that person, when you abuse that blocking system that is purely disrespectful.

Io also has a history of straight up insult and dehumanizing people. Calling some of the people that don't agree with Io mentally challenged.

Look it's already well known by almost anyone that was around and following Io that Io is an attention drama slut. Io will look for any kind of drama that they can worm themself into because that's all they know. All they know is hate and they can't stand if the attention isn't on them for more than a second.

Avoiding Resposibility

Io has a repeated act of avoiding resposibility for their actions. If something happens that Io doesn't like or someone calls them out, Io will simply make a post on tumblr lying about them making a situation seem worse and pull a pity party on their account making their white knights of followers come to their rescue and harass said person the post was made about.

Io has admitted to going to therapy, do I support this? Yes absolutely, get the help you need. But Io has also admitted to straight up lying to their therapist. This is not how you get help! Therapists are there to help you and do their best to get you back to a stable mindset. By lying to your therapist you are just harming yourself more and making you look more like a victim.

Look I completely understand that something like responsibility can be overwhelming, especially online because people online are just bitches but you still have to. No one is gonna hold you hand and do everything for you, Io is an adult yet is acting like a child who didn't get their way.

Io if you are reading this somehow, please please get help. Stop lying to your therapist, its not gonna help you. You also cannot use your mental illness as an excuse, as someone who used to do this, it's so unhealthy and needs to stop, its purely a way to manipulate and guilt trip.

I truly do wish the best for Io and I want Io to get help, but if Io keeps refusing the help that they need, there's not much I can do.

Hidden Secrets

I am finally back! Sorry for the long delay without stories, but my life’s been rather hectic lately. I have hopefully compensated with a very interesting storyline I’ve wanted to write for a while now. Everyone has their secrets, and sometimes if they are revealed, things can come to a head...

Aboard the Omen

Three figures sat around a table. All were relaxed, slightly slouching in their seats. The lights were not the uncomfortable brightness of the medical bays or halls, nor the dim-lit spaces of the engine rooms or hidden maintenance gantries. It was a comfortable, cozy light, illuminating the fake wood of the table and the three that sat around it.

“How the hell did we get on this topic of conversation?” asked Admiral Vir, his face swirling a myriad of colors: the green of his eyes, blond of his hair, black of his eyepatch, and currently, red of his face.

“I’m not precisely sure,” drawled Commander Shepard, “But I believe it has something to do with our good comrade Quill over there complementing extra-terrestrial hips.”

“Hey! There is nothing wrong with pointing out that your chief engineer, despite wearing a face mask and enviro-suit all the time, is pretty hot. Perfect, well-rounded figure,” replied Quill, grinning and adjusting his long, red-brown greatcoat. “Though, it’s just an observation. I’m already taken. By an alien with just as good, if not better, hips.” Vir buried his face in his hands, and Shepard just sighed. “What I don’t get, though,” he continued, “Is why the hell Vir here is attracted to Sunny? Listen, Gamora and Tali are hot. They have ass.” At this, Shepard groaned loudly and joined Vir with his head in his hands. “I don’t get why you’re attracted to an eight foot tall, four armed, beaked, carapaced alien. Unless you’re into some pretty… interesting… things.” Vir looked over to Shepard.

“This is how this conversation’s going to go, isn’t it?” he said. Shepard simply nodded.

“Yeah,” he replied.

“I mean, no judgement if you are,” continued Quill. “I’ve done it with aliens a lot weirder than Drev. If you’re into that sort of thing… whatever thing a Drev is, that’s fine.” Vir simply sighed again.

“Jesus, Quill.” He looked around, staring at the ceiling for a moment before turning back to his companions. “Alright. Fine.” He cracked his neck. “You know what? You want me to ‘fess up, I will. I…” He trailed off for a moment, working his jaw and wringing his hands before letting out a breath. “I… like…” He noticed the expectant looks of the other two at the table. “Okay, fine, love… Sunny.” He threw up his hands, face an even deeper shade of red, if at all possible. “There. Said it. Please kill me.”

“Well. No offense Adam, but I wasn’t expecting you to start off with that,” replied Shepard.

“Neither did I,” murmured Adam. He looked over to Quill once more. “It’s not that I like Drev. It’s just that I like… her. I… She… Well…”

“C’mon Adam. Spit it out.” Vir sighed again.

“I love her. No matter who or what she may be. Not because she’s an alien. Everything about her being… her. If that makes sense,” he finished lamely. Shepard and Quill, though, both nodded along sagely.

“Yeah. It does,” replied Shepard quietly. “I… feel the same way. In a way.” He laughed. “I guess tonight none of us are going to have a way with words.” He let out a large sigh, and his eyes went distant, seeing things that existed a thousand miles away. “I… think I do love Tali. I think I do… but I haven’t even told her.” He gave another laugh, this one much more bitter. “I’m telling this all to you, but I haven’t even told her. I… just… I don’t want to hurt her.” He looked at his own scarred hands miserably. “I’m a Spectre, and I’m running the most dangerous mission in the galaxy, on an unauthorized ship, and I just… don’t want anyone to hurt her. And I don’t want to hurt her. So I haven’t said anything,” he finished.

“Yeah,” replied Quill, much more soberly than his teasing before. “I know how you both feel. I was a bit of a playboy for a while,” he grinned. His expression became serious once more. “But, after I met Gamora, and… was in a world without her, for a bit, I finally understood. What it meant. To actually love someone.” He gave his cocky smile once again. “Despite, you know, her being a super-assassin who can and has kicked my ass on multiple occasions.” Both Vir and Shepard laughed.

“You know, it’s funny how just talking can make you see things differently. Make the world seem better,” said Shepard. He grinned at Vir. “Thanks for inviting us over.” Vir looked at him strangely, frowning.

“What do you mean? You invited us. You said you wanted to talk, and talk on my ship.” Shepard responded with an equally puzzled expression.

“No, I didn’t,” he insisted. “You invited us here.” Quill nodded in conformation.

“Yeah. You invited us.”

“No I didn’t!” shot back Vir.

“Well if you didn’t, who did?” asked Shepard. Their argument was broken by a new voice, filled with righteous hate and vengeance, as cold as an ice-world blizzard.

“I did.” Quill, Vir, and Shepard started. They hadn’t even heard the door open. The imposing figure of Commissar Ciaphas Cain, clad in his heavy black greatcoat, boots, and cap, swirled through the door, holding his laspistol at the ready. Vir, being the one in most contact with Cain (Cain was stationed aboard his ship, after all), had heard stories from the Valhallan infantry about Imperial commissars. They had all said how lucky they’d been to have Cain, as many commissars were hate-filled, imposing men and women who ruled through sheer terror. Vir had laughed it off. Cain was calm. Cain was understanding. Cain was always one to look for a solution to any problems, and prevent people from fighting. Even when they had first met, when the Imperials, so unused to aliens, had tried to pick fights with the Omen’s crew, Cain had calmed things down. He was the perfect officer.

But now, Vir remembered the Valhallans’ stories. Cain fit the description of a commissar perfectly now. His massive height, the dark uniform, the eyes blazing with a hate that was so un-Cain like and outstretched laspistol made him a figure of nightmares from a totalitarian and xenophobic government. Xenophobic… Shit! Apparently, all three men sitting at the table had the same idea at once, and made a motion to rise. Cain tightened his grip on the laspistol, and flicked it clearly at each one of them in turn.

“Ah, un uh. Sit back down,” he hissed. “Hands on the table.” The three complied, lowering themselves back into their seats slowly. Cain kept the gun pointed at them.

“Cain?” asked Shepard hesitantly. “What’s this about?”

“I’m no fool,” replied Cain, “Though I think you believe me one.” His gloved fingers tightened on the laspistol grip. There was a brief pause as Cain glared at the three.

What made both Shepard and Vir such good commanding officers was their ability to read people. They were experts at knowing what people were thinking, and how to react accordingly. What shocked them both was the expression of pure betrayal behind Cain’s cold eyes. That was an emotion neither of them expected.

“I’d heard rumors, of course. Some tabloid drama, accusing humanity's greatest heroes of xenophilia, of all things.” Cain scoffed. “Disgusting, I thought. How dare they slander you so!” Cain’s voice dropped from anger to pure fury. “But then,” he hissed, “Then I heard more official reports. I heard your speeches. I saw pictures. I heard rumors not from some disgusting two-bit reporter, but from your own crews. I am not blind, though you might think me so. And this?” He waved his pistol around the room. “You were humanity’s best.” His voice dropped into a whisper, resonating with hurt and betrayal. “I gave you a chance. I thought it could not be so. I thought that even though you served with aliens, they were subservient to you. To humanity. But now I have proof. Proof of your degeneracy. From your own mouths. You confessed. I gave you a chance to say otherwise, a second chance, but you… scum,” he finished, too angry for words. He noticed their glances at the door and gave out a dark laugh. “Oh, no. There’s no one here to save you, traitors. I made sure of it.”

“So what now?” asked Shepard calmly, breaking the tension.

“Now?” replied Cain, laspistol still pointed at the three. “Now I kill you, as is my duty. I lock this door, and pretend there is some urgent conference I need you for. I tell Kasteen and Brocklaw to have Simone set a course to Watch Fortress Novus Galactica, and there the Inquisition will purge this ship, then return for the others. There is no escape.” Vir stood up, hands raised, fury on his face.

“If I’m going to die I’m going to get my say. I never did enough of that in life,” he said with a bitter laugh. He fixed Cain with an equally furious stare, looking at the double-headed golden eagles on Cain’s cap and lapels. Those eagles. Those god-damned eagles. “I’ve had enough of people like you. I’ve had enough of trying to explain myself. I’m not some sick fuck. I’m not a degenerate. I love an alien for who she is, not what she is. And if you kill me, then you kill me,” he spat. Cain smirked.

“So be it.” He was interrupted by a sound. A metallic click-click. A sound known by every member in the room. A sound known to almost every human and alien in existence. A sound known by all who ever watched human movies, or fought human armies. A sound that first came into existence in 1835 and was repeated every day, somewhere in human territory across nine galaxies ever since. The sound of a revolver hammer being cocked.

“Put the gun down, Commissar.” The voice of Thomas Drake was smooth. Unemotional, and uncaring at the drama unfolding in front of him. His matt-black revolver, held by his dark gloves, was pointed at Cain’s head. He was at a perfect distance, where Cain could not turn on him before being gunned down. Vir still stood, Shepard and Quill both seated, their hands still up or on the table. The only movement Cain made was to clench his jaw and extend his pistol arm farther.

“Drake,” hissed Cain. “I should have known. You knew all their secrets. You hid this from us!”

“Of course,” replied Drake. “Their actions are their own, though, and their secrets were not mine to give out.” Cain’s hand squeezed the pistol grip even tighter, his augmetic fingers balancing it through his rage.

“I can still kill them, Drake. I suggest you put your gun down before that happens,” he suggested, his voice tight. Drake laughed.

“Yes. One. Before I kill you. One squeeze of the trigger I can’t prevent. I can prevent two, though. But you won’t.” Drake’s voice was delighted, smiling wryly at a secret only he possessed. “You won’t because I know you won’t. You won’t because I know your secrets. I read your book! Your autobiography!” he announced with malicious triumph. “I know how your mind works, and I know that you don’t want to die on this ship, or anywhere else, especially for the life of one measly heretic. So you put your gun down, Commissar.” Cain struggled for a moment, his muscles clenching and unclenching, before he finally gave a disgusted snort and tossed his laspistol on the table. Vir, Quill, and Shepard let out breaths they didn’t know they were holding.

“So then,” sneered Cain. “What now, oh Captain Drake? You have already proven you won’t kill me, and they cannot be allowed to live,” he said. Drake merely smiled.

“Have you ever heard the phrase, ‘To understand someone you must see the world through their eyes’?” he asked. The other four occupants of the room nodded, unsure of where this was going. “Well, that’s precisely what’s going to happen. Let’s see if you’ll kill each other when you know precisely how you each operate.” He gave a dark grin and gestured with his pistol at Vir, Shepard, and Quill. “Now. You three. Put your weapons on the table,” he ordered. The three stared at him in shock.

“But… why?” replied Quill. “You saved us,” he said, as if that explained his reasoning. Drake simply laughed again.

“I like to be the only one in a room holding a weapon. Especially in a situation as intense as this. Now. Guns on the table. Vir, you aren’t carrying a weapon. Shameful,” he drawled. “Your pistols, Quill, and the knives I know you have in your sleeve and boot. Your sidearm, Shepard.” The three complied, Drake’s revolver now pointed at them as Cain scowled at the situation. “Wonderful,” said Drake. He took a step back, walking through the doorway, and gestured at the four men to follow him. They complied grudgingly, still shooting death glares at each other. Drake put a hand to the communications device in his left ear, not moving his gun arm an inch. “Beam us up, Scotty,” he said simply. With a whir and flash, the five disappeared from the Omen, only to suddenly see the hallways of the Enterprise around them.

“So. Kirk and the Starfleet officers are in on this as well. Why I am not surprised,” stated Cain, looking at his surroundings with grudging simplicity.

“Maybe. Maybe not,” replied Drake. He lowered his pistol, finger coming off the trigger. “No one’s here, either. No help from the crew here.” He tilted his head to a large grey door. “In that room.” Looking warily at his gun, trying and thinking how to take it from him all the while, the four followed Drake’s command. The room was an empty expanse of darkness. None of them could tell its purpose or how big it truly was.

“What is this place?” asked Quill.

“It's called a ‘holodeck’,” replied Drake. “It is a room that is, essentially, a massive virtual reality. It’s usually used for some sort of training simulation programs, but this time, I’ve made sure it can read memories. Oh yeah,” he grinned. “It can do that. And that is what’s going to happen. We are going to delve inside each of our minds, and see what makes us all tick. Maybe if you see someone else’s entire life laid out in front of them from their point of view you’ll be less likely to kill them.” Drake took in their apprehensive glances. “Oh yes. I know. All of us have secrets. And I’m sure none of you really trust this. That’s why I’ll go first. Let us begin.”

There we have it. Cain can tolerate a lot of things, including working with aliens, but absolutely not romancing aliens. I shall continue this story line, with all of these characters giving their own horrible memories. As always, I own no one except Drake, and all characters belong to their original rightful owners. Once again the fandom coming together to daydream about Mickey helping Ian out and seeing him back on track to become an emt again but why is that on Mickey? Why does he always have to do things to make Ian happy when Ian's usually nothing but annoyed by Mickey and does nothing to make Mickey happy? Truly shows which character y'all care about more.

This got absurdly long, because I am who I am and did take the opportunity to go off on a tangent about valid conclusions and what not, so I put it under a cut. Read at your own risk! Oh, and I also do address the actual question about whether or not Ian's career is on Mickey, and whether or not Ian never does anything to make Mickey happy. ;)

For the sake of clarity, I got this ask in response to this post.

And I gotta say, nonnie, getting this ask perplexed me to the point of running off to Trusted Fandom Friends, demanding to know how my undying love and loyalty for Mickey could ever be doubted. Had to laugh at myself a little, actually, and the strenght of my befuddlement. It reminded me of the time I went on a trip with people from the 501st (cosplayers dedicated to the bad guys in Star Wars) and Rebel Legion (cosplayers dedicated to the good guys in Star Wars) and a lot of people assumed I was a Rebel sympathizer simply because I had friends in that group and those were the people who had invited me. Excuse me, I didn't yell, I have like 30 Darth Vaders in my damned home, how dare you question my allegiance? I was so used to always being known as a diehard Vaderkin fangirl that the mer fact of strangers failing to recognize me as such genuinely fucked a little with my sense of identity. My love of Mickey isn't anywhere near as deeply ingrained into my sense of self, since he's only been an occasional presence in my life since 2016 while Darth Vader's been my main man since 1994, but it was still a little jarring to suddenly find myself (mis)identified as an Ian stan.

Being a fangirl is strange.

And I want to make it clear that I do love Ian. He's a fascinating character and, to me, he's a character that's often much harder to understand than Mickey. He rewards careful analysis and discussion, though, so I guess I tend to talk a lot about him? I don't need to spend as much time considering Mickey's feelings and motivations because they are (almost) always pretty obvious; I don't need to tease them out. But at the end of the day, Mickey is my favourite. (Though I'll always love Ian and Mickey together more than I love either of them on their own. It's like fresh cilantro and mint – each perfectly lovely in their own right, but the combination of them creates a flavour that's just out of this world.)

Now, you might argue that you don't follow me and so have no idea who I am and what I like to post about, and that going only by that single post (which, in fairness, was tagged with 'i just want ian to be happy okay?') I give off the general impression of an Ian stan. And that's fair enough; I'm an obscure blog in a decently big fandom and you're not required to keep track of anyone. However, if you want to throw around passive aggressive accusations of caring more about one character than the other, I will ask you to do your research first. Reacting to one single piece of data without considering the context is a common but highly unfortunate practice that needlessly complicates meaningful conversations, and we'd all do well to abstain from it.

Oh, you don't want to spend a lot of time and energy on consdering every single thing a specific Tumblr blog has ever said on a specific topic just so you can draw a valid conclusion about their stance? That's perfectly understandable, nonnie, and easily sorted: refrain from making unsubstantiated claims about what other people think or don't think and you won't have to. Ask them, if you wonder. If you see a tendency in fandom to put the responsibility for Ian's wellbeing and career or Mickey's shoulders and want to discuss that, that's totally cool! I am game (and will address that question below)! But it's very possible to do that without somewhat rudely ascribing perferences and opinions to other people, and you'll get better answers for it (for instance, you won't have to wade through me rambling on about valid conclusions and my memories from other fandoms... ).

It seems to me, though, that this touches upon a long-held frustration of yours. If I interpret your ask correctly, you think the show gives us an Ian who is mostly annoyed with Mickey and doesn't do anything to make him happy, and you think that the fandom responds to this by relegating Mickey to the role of Ian's caretaker, whose sole purpose is to serve Ian's needs without any regard for what might Mickey himself happy. Have I got that right?

If so, it should be noted that I don't agree with either of these takes: I don't think that's the Ian the show gives us (a point I will return to below), and I don't think that fandom at large only cares about Ian's happiness, and I particularly don't think that my post can be used a evidence of the latter.

For instance, when you sent me this ask the post in question had all of 40 notes. As I write this, it has just over 70. ”The fandom coming together” seems to be slightly overstating the case, don't you think? There are certainly fans who care more about Ian and only see Mickey as valuable as long as he contributes to Ian's happiness, just as there are fans who care more about Mickey and only see Ian as valuable as long as he contributes to Mickey's happiness - but this single post with less than a hundred notes does not support that either of these stances would be predominant within the fandom. (And, while on the topic, I'd like to state that I don't actually see a problem with either of those stances; these are fictional characters that exists for our entertainment and we don't have any moral obligations to treat them equally and fairly. Don't ruin other fans' fun by dumping on either of them in the character or shipping tags or on character and shipping posts and this is not a problem. It might be a somewhat unpopular opinion, but I don't think you have to love or even like all characters in a ship to ship it: I refuse to drink plain tea because it's nasty but put a splash of milk in it and its my favourite thing ever. You can love a combination without loving all the seperate pieces on their own. And yeah, I do revert to food metaphors a lot. I like food.)

Secondly, whether or not the post can be said to represent the feeling of the fandom at large (it cannot), I think that reading a post specifically about ”Mickey helping Ian out and seeing him back on track to become an emt again” and then extrapolating from that that Mickey ”always have to do things to make Ian happy” is a little wild. The very first thing I wrote for this fandom was a vision of Ian offering Mickey comfort, goddammit. (Ian giving Mickey a hug is so high on my list of desires, you can't even imagine)

As for your actual question (and, ah, imagine how much shorter this post would be if you had just left it at that) – of course that's not on Mickey. That much, incidentally, I've actually explicitly stated in another post. Ian might have his issues but he's still an adult and responsible for himself. That being said, I don't see it as particularly strange that someone would go out of their way to help their partner when they see them struggling? If I realize that someone I care about is unhappy and there's a way for me to help, I would want to help because I love them and want them to be happy, even if it's – ethically speaking – not my responsibility to do so. Pretty sure Mickey, who is action-oriented and so very protective of the people he loves, feels the same way.

Of course, if it's a one-sided thing – if one partner is always the one to do stuff for the other and never receives any support in return – that's not a healthy relationship, and I assume that this is what you're seeing in the show and taking exception to?

Only... I can't help but wonder who this Ian is, this uncaring, selfish version you see – because I don't quite get how it can be the Ian who emptied his bank account for Mickey, or the Ian who was ready to throw his parole and stay in prison for Mickey even when they were in the middle of a fight specifically because Mickey said it would make him happy, or the one who kept trying to talk to Mickey and win him back after Mickey punched him in the face, accidentally broke his leg, and took off with a new lover (I'm not taking sides in this one, btw – I have a lot of sympathy and understanding for both of them and their actions throughout this whole sorry affair), or the Ian who immediately wanted to marry Mickey protect him from the consequences of a murder Ian thought he had actually comitted, or the Ian who went along with arranging a real wedding even though he initially didn't at all understand why this was important to Mickey and who had someone come serenade him once he did, or the Ian who chose At last for Mickey to walk up to the aisle to, or the Ian who keeps trying to reach out to Mickey and to touch him and discuss their issues in a mature way even when he's (justifiably) upset about Mickey using all their wedding money without telling Ian. (Though Ian deciding for both of them that they're saving the money isn't great either.)

I mean, Ian's absolutely done shitty things, as has Mickey. They're human, and they're the products of a chaotic and often hostile enviroment. They do mess up a lot; they've hurt each other rather badly over the years. Depending on your perspective and preferences, you may think one or the other have behaved worse, but as far as I can see, the claim that Ian never does anything to make Mickey happy is simply not supported.

Ian has seemed unusually annoyed with Mickey this season, I'll give you that, but while that's not always the most fun thing to watch and I strongly sympathize with the wish to just see Ian look at Mickey with that fond look again, I don't find him being frustrated right now all that weird, given the circumstances. I'd argue it has less to do with Mickey and more to do with a general frustration over thwarted ambitions and not being able to hold on even to a really shitty job, though Mickey's attitude doesn’t exactly help (which is not to say that I think that Ian's the one in the right here, becasue Ian's way of handling things hasn't always been been stellar either). However, I do have faith in them sorting this out – because even though they fight and bicker and get annoyed with each other, there's never any indication that they're not both committed to making this marriage thing work. They certainly stumble, they misunderstand each other and lash out, but they calm down and go to sleep in the same bed and compromise and keep trying. Every day, they – both of them – choose each other.

I'd like to finish this off by noting, even though it's not entirely relevant to my argument, that that the number one thing that does make Mickey happy is being together with Ian, and even when Ian is pissed at Mickey and withholding sex (which was very ill-advised but says a lot of interesting things about his character, I think!) no one's sleeping on the couch, there are no nights away from the house and each other, and even in the middle of an argument they sit and stand next to each other. I think that's pretty telling of Ian's dedication, especially given his propensity for running away from his problems.

Phew. Okay, nonnie – though we don't agree and I doubt you'll find this answer satisfactory, I hope you see that I have done my best to understand your point of view and treat your arguments fairly and give you a thoughtful response. If you'd like to get back to me and elaborate on your stance, I'd ask that you show me the same courtesy. :)

Well, We have the Seven of chalices and this one isn’t giving me much of a /what is/ your dream job but how do you feel about it? But I will keep writing what comes to mind- So we have the seven of chalices and this one is talking about a lot of opportunities you have to follow this dream or opportunities you have with this job- but the thing is you also have a lot of dreams and illusions and it’s hard to pinpoint what is the reality and what is an illusion. You may pass a lot of time dreaming and thinking how amazing it would be but when it comes to the work you aren’t making anything to archive that. This can happen because you have so many ways to reach there that you don’t know how to reach or you can’t see what path is better because your judgment is clouded. For this job to take place you have to be ready to take action and to fight for it, you will have to commit to it. You might have a great plan on how to make this happen but it’s not that grounded with reality and it might not even work. You might be stuck on the idea phase but when it comes to bringing them to the life you stop. What is best here is for you to see all the options you have, see the pros and cons and even write them down if needed!

Next, we have the ten of swords, which means this will be hard on you. The ten of swords is something that we can’t predict and it’s something you can’t stop. You will feel that the world will or is crumbling on you, you are in pain with the lack of something, and this will bring you down enough to start questioning what you actually like or if it’s all worth it. You might even feel somebody stabbed you and now it’s hard for you to trust, you weren’t expecting any of this but now that you’re here you are completely lost. But not everything is a bad thing, the Ten of Swords also speaks about the final straw, as in yes you went through hell but that is that, you won’t be suffering at least from what brought you down. When this time comes, cry, scream, let the feeling sink in order to move forward, it’s not going to be easy but this pain won’t last forever, you will rise up from the ground and think about what happened and you will learn from this, when this happens you will be more mature and all that you suffered won’t be in vain.

We have nine pentacles. Finally, we can breathe, right? Nine of pentacles is all about pampering yourself after hard work. Right now you finally are stable, this might be the job you were after. You are financially stable and since this card talks about harmony, I think those who didn’t agree with you finally understand you and support you. Tho what brought you here /wasn’t their support/ You couldn’t rely on them so you independently raised yourself up, you trusted yourself, you worked for it and now you can relax and enjoy how far you reached.

The Stars Reversed, Remember the options? In the first reading? Maybe you didn’t go through that well and went with the illusion one where everything seemed right and even though you were happy and content, now you feel tired and exhausted about repeating the same things over and over again, you loved what you did but now something is missing, you lost faith in something, you don’t find motivation. This might not also be about your work but your personal life that is affecting your worth but overall you feel you are disconnected from everything. It is important for you to see what truly matters for your soul and well-being. This can also mean that you should take time for yourself, maybe this job isn’t as bad as you think but you are so tired of doing the same over and over again that you aren’t even taking a breath. You should invest in your soul, in your spiritual needs, from a warm bath, reiki massage, anything that helps you feel relaxed once again

For the last card, we have The seven of wands reversed, so basically, this is reinforcing what the stars reversed said. You are feeling pressured, and tired, you feel everyone now is judging you with your choices because you seem like you can’t handle what you dug down and you are even self-doubting yourself and everything you worked for and you are even ready to give up. This card helps tell you to not give up! You have fought until this point, stay strong and keep close your beliefs because it was them who helped you in your way and no one else! You also may be drawn to criticize yourself and compare yourself to others, don’t, the best you can do is be yourself. You might even feel a lot of people aren’t on your side- well this card also helps you remember that you won’t be able to please everyone and that is ok, it’s your own life, you are the one that has to be happy, so don’t change yourself! What you have to do is rebuild your self-esteem- and work on yourself. And remember to always see if your pain is worthwhile.

Ps: Whenever I have a ...not so good reading, I always say that you can mold your own future independent of what the cards say. They are only here to serve as a warning or guide and it is you to decide on what to do and nothing else. So stay strong, whatever happens, keep moving forward!

SKAM: An analysis

Part 1

This is not anything anyone has ever asked for, but I can’t sleep so here you go. A personal analysis of my likes, dislikes and favourite characters from every version of SKAM. Starting of with:

SKAM (The OG, Norwegian one)

Likes:

My own language and culture

A well written interesting teen show that tackled important problems you meet in life and brought out stories you didn’t see much of in media at the time.

The cast consisted of litteral teens. Tarjei who played Isak was a first year at the real school «Nissen».

The actors were so good. They all played such important roles, and you could tell they put a whole lot of personality into it.

I LOVED the format. SKAM has a lot of references to Henrik Ibsen (norwegian author), and he was known for writing plays in a style that in norwegian is called «Titteskap teater» (rough translation: a cupboard you can look into). The minimizes the distance between the audience and the action, creating much more debate around the plot. By giving us the clips online while they were happening «in real time» and giving the characters real SoMe accounts SKAM did exactly that. (Our teacher would seriously pause the class if any clips came out during).

I also liked how short the clips were. I don’t watch a lot of shows as I simply don’t have the time or attention span. But watching 2-10 minute clips and reading small text exchanges, thats something i could do!

None of the characters were «simple». They were all written and acted quite dynamic, deep and dimentional, and i loved that.

SKAM was brought up so goddamn much in our norwegian classes i swear. I did so many papers on it.

Unpopular opinion: i liked that it ended after 4 season. Ended on a high.

GREAT SOUNDTRACK

Dislikes:

SKAM is made in certain part of Oslo, which is the capital and biggest city of Norway. I don’t think it should’ve been changed, I just didn’t relate to a lot of the cultural youth references as I am from the north myself. And yes those enviroments are very different! So I just feel like letting the fandom know that that not all of norwegian is definitely like that.

They definitely could’ve done more with Sana’s season. I do not think that it was a bad season, i just think that there was too much focus on Noorhelm and girl drama which were topics that didn’t really need more focus.

Eva’s season just being overlooked in promos and in general. I get that it was the first season and the show gathered more attention around the second season but come on. Eva and her storyline is so important, the acting was so good and it laid a solid foundation for the rest of the show. I just feel like Eva’s character didn’t get the justice it deserved.

Favourite characters:

Vilde. Now my people let me tell you a little bit about Vilde. Vilde was the most important character in the entire show. She was the glue that brought together all the other characters. And she was so devoted to everthing she did: her friends, the bus, all the small gatherings. And i feel like everyone went to school with a person like this. Who was maybe teased and looked at like weird, but in hindsight you realise how much they really did for their community. In the last season we get a little peak into the life Vilde is living when she’s not at school and it’s absolutely heartbreaking. And again unpopular opinion but i liked that we never got a Vilde season, cus thats the reality of it. Most situations like these are hidden, and they are hidden so well. And not giving Vilde a season really enhances that. Vilde really just wanted to be good for the world and for the world to be a better place. And that scene from season 4 between Vilde, Chris and Magnus is honestly one of the most beautiful scenes of the entire show and both Vilde and Chris’ friendship and Vilde and Magnus’ relationship is so healthy and lovely. I love Vilde fight me.

Eskil. He is, without any doubt to ever excist about it, the funniest character on the show. He really gives me «Will and Grace»-vibes. But I also love that even though he is funny, he is not reduced to just funny lines. He is an example of how important one person can be to anothers life. He really did take care of the people around him, even though not everyone perceived his behaviour that way. He took care of Noora and brought her out of her shell. He took care of Isak and helped him come to terms with his sexuality and internalized homophobia. He took care of Linn and accepted her as she was while simultanously helping her be a part of their social community. He was also an very important counterpart to Isak’s character in season three. It gave out the message that there is definitely not one way to be gay. Although he wasn’t the best roomate, he was a good character.

Isak. My most favourite thing about his character is that i don’t 100% like him. It’s like having a friend that doesn’t agree with you on every single subject and i honestly feel like that enriches the relationship. And he is such a realistic norwegian boy, so many of my guy friends act similar to him. Guys and their feelings are very under-represented in the media, and i think as much as the third season is praised for its focus on lgbt+ and mental health, it should get some credit for putting guys and the way they face issues in the limelight. I love that he’s such a snake sometimes, because people do dumb, selfish shit no matter how much of a nice person you think they are. His friendship with Eva? Amazing. And also veey realistic. Sometimes friends grow a little apart before they come back together, and i think their friendship is a strong one. His friendship with Jonas? Amazing. That coming out scene at the bench says it all i need not write any further. His friendship with Sana? Amazing. Isak was such an important character in her season and she was so important in his. The talk they have at the bench in Sana’s season is such a nice scene. Also Tarjei, the actor who plays Isak, is one of norway’s finest. He’s so good, i’ve seen him in other things as well and he’s just astonishing. The «O Helga Natt» scene is good, but it wouldn’t be nearly as good without that amazing acting.

That concludes my personal analysis of OG SKAM that no one asked for, but if you wanna tag along make sure to look out for my next! And hopefully i will get to sleep now.

Cramp’s Comic Page Tutorial

So here is the turorial I’ve been wanting to do ever since my line art tip list

Just a quick reminder before we get started: I’m by no means an expert and I still have a lot to learn so everything I’ll say from now one is just part of my personal method of making a comic page and thereby should be taken with a grain of salt ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Okay now let’s get started :D

The Materials

These are the tools I use. I’m mostly working with drawing nibs, ink pens, copics and so on. I’ll show wich tool I use for each step.

Step 1: Storyboard

This scribbly abomination is a page from my sketchbook. I wrote the script for the story this page is taken from in there. Since it’s just for roughly planning a page the drawings can remain as messy as you want.

If you’re making a longer story it is advisable to always plan a few pages ahead to avoid similar looking panel layouts, wich can lead to a stale reading experience (unless of course you’re purposefully using it for artistic effects)

Step 2: Sketch

Once you’re content with your layout you can start drawing on the drawing board. I use 250 g/m² size A3 paper. For sketching I’d recommend tone H, 2H, HB graphite pencils.

When the sketching is done we can start with the ink!

Step 3: Panels And Speech Bubbles

The first ones to be inked are the panel frames and the speech bubbles. Sometimes I do these with brushes but for this page the frames have to be clear and straight forward so I draw with a nib and a ruler (careful when using a ruler for it can smudge the ink very easily. And let me tell you it’s FRUSTRATING)

The type of drawing nib for step 3, wich is perfect for drawing very even lines:

Step 4: Foreground and Characters

Next up the foreground (wich includes in many cases most of the depicted characters). You can emphasize perspective and plasticity of the characters by varying the line width. I did this by outlining the close-up in the middle panel with a brush to get even thicker lines.

For everyone else I used my favourite nib wich allows different line sizes by applying pressure:

Step 5: Background

The background and - for this page also - speed lines (my nemesis :/) are done with ink pens. The small sized pens can draw very fine lines wich is perfect for backgrounds and details. Ink pens have a slightly lighter tone than real ink wich again is beneficial in this case because it helps to set the characters apart from their enviroment.

Step 6: Area Inking

Now we fully ink the wider spaces. Since this is a black and white comic I have to rely on stark contrasts to make it work without colours (in moments like these I often regret making this story take place mostly at night :’D).

The bigger black areas get inked with a small brush.

For the smaller spaces I often abuse this nib here wich is actually for writing because it produces very thick lines:

Step 7: Erasure and Opaque White

When the ink is dry we finally erase the pencil sketches. Then we check the page for drawing mistakes such as ink smudges and spills. We repair them by using either Tipp-Ex or Opaque White. As you can see I also applied little white spots in the background in order to create a night sky full of stars (it’s a simple but effective method :3)

Step 8: Grey Areas

I use it sparsely for this project since I want to accomplish the most artistic effects with the black and white contrasts. But for the grey areas I use either grey copics (characters) or grey pencils (backgrounds).

Step 9: Lettering:

Now for the final step I have to say it’s still in the making because I’m currently still experimenting with the font I wanna use and the way I plan on making it (I haven’t decided yet weither I’ll do the lettering by hand or digitally). But let’s just say once it’s done I’d usually scan the page, polish it a bit via photoshop and Indesign.

So what you see here is a rough translation of the dialogue (I apologize for the messy text editing, I’ll work on it in nearby future) ^^

lord asriel’s quick analysis

Or why redemption isn’t always necessary.

Given that some people asked me to finish it and that I want to finish it, here’s my stroke over Lord Asriel’s arc. This is based on a post someone made it on reddit about the lack of redeeming traits on his part and this is my personal take on Asriel, so ok, here we go:

Let me get this out of the way: the thing about Lord Asriel is that he is not a redeemable character; that is not his purpose nor his story. He never seeks redemption, nor he sees his actions as a product of villainy or evil; in fact, Asriel believes he is quite righteous and he is willing to do whatever the fuck it takes to achieve his goals.

We never get a direct understanding of his motives: he does say he fights for freedom, he states his disgust with the Magisterium and the Kingdom of Heaven, and those who surround him believe in his cause and say, constantly, that his side is the right side, and that he fights for freedom and against the tyranny of the Church.

What is contantly overlooked is the fact Lord Asriel doesn’t require a redemption, this isn’t some sort of requirement a character needs every time they screw up. This, well, aversion to Asriel and the need to have him either punished or redeemed is solely based on the fact he killed Roger in cold blood, sort of, to wage his war for freedom. Was that fucked up? Absolutely! Does this means he requires redemption over that? No, and Philip Pullman himself explains why when Mary Malone says:

“I stopped believing there was a power of good and a power of evil that were outside us. And I came to believe that good and evil are names for what people do, not for what they are.” (The Amber Spyglass)

This has a lot to do with the recurring themes of the books, about morals, ethics and the poor use of free will by some, and it personifies almost every character in the books, from Lyra to Iorek. Everyone has committed some sort of bad deed at some point, but that does not label them as evil, and the same rules apply to Asriel. This is a man who’s crossed the very limits of the multiverse to achieve his goals, by being good in looking after the destruction of the Kingdom, and by being bad while killing Roger (plus being a bad father, a bad uncle, a bad lover, but let us remain philosophical for now).

Asriel is relentless, ruthless and sometimes, even cruel, to Lyra, to Marisa, to anyone really. At Jordan, he walks in, puts the fear of God (unironically lol) into almost everyone, including Lyra and the Master, he takes control of the enviroment and sets on to do what he went to Jordan for: to get money for his plot, so he can tear the sky apart and defy the Kingdom of Heaven. Lyra fears him (righteously) and admires his fierceness, she respects strength and brute force, it is the reason why she is so drawn to violent figures or rude characters, being herself quite rude and arrogant because she mirrors her uncle/dad.

He is considered to be a passionate man by almost everyone, and he causes a great impression in everyone he meets, including the reader. He was written as a likable character at first, made from scratch to fit in the role of the aloof, sometimes austere but caring uncle, or the traveler who serves as the inspiration for the hero (Bilbo Baggins, for quite the literal example, or Professor Kirke in Narnia). Sir Philip describes him, in Northern Lights:

“Then Lord Asriel stood up and turned away from the fire. She saw him fully, and marveled at the contrast he made with the plump Butler, the stooped and languid Scholars. Lord Asriel was a tall man with powerful shoulders, a fierce dark face, and eyes that seemed to flash and glitter with savage laughter. It was a face to be dominated by, or to fight: never a face to patronize or pity. All his movements were large and perfectly balanced, like those of a wild animal, and when he appeared in a room like this, he seemed a wild animal held in a cage too small for it. At the moment his expression was distant and preoccupied.” (page 13, Knopf edition).

He is, at first, compared to other men in Lyra’s life (the scholars, mostly) only to be extravangantly praised for being nothing like those men. Stelmaria, quiet and reserved, beautiful and pacifying, is the ultimate contrast for Asriel; together, they are one, and he is an aristocrat with wild temper, and she is a snow leopard, a predator, but beautiful and wise. These are the representation of Satan, as in Paradise Lost: forsaken and forgotten by history for fighting the Authority, Asriel and Stelmaria are the embodiment of disobedience and they are bound to rebel again because that is their nature. All that’s left to them is a reason and the Magisterium, oh boy, they’ve given them plenty.

Now, think about a man who’s had everything, then this rising power that was the Magisterium, comes and takes everything from him, from his money to his daughter over something, not trivial, but certainly something that didn’t require such harsh method of punishment; considering a lot of his wealth was confiscated and assuming he had to pay a lot of fees and taxes because of the Court Trial, he was very much not the man he was before Mrs. Coulter’s affair with him. He obeys the rules and stays away from Lyra, only to discover her mother is with the Church and that they intend to harm Lyra, even after he played nice. His friends in Oakley Street are trying to protect Lyra, but against the Magisterium, after witnessing how powerful they are, how far gone they are willing to go, things aren’t looking very bright for Asriel. He even says, in Northern Lights:

“They’re stronger than anyone, Asriel! You don’t know-”

“I don’t know? I? No one in the world knows better than I how strong the Church is! But it isn’t strong enough for this. The Dust will change everything, anyway. There’s no stopping it now.” (page 394, Knopf edition).

The Asriel we meet in La Belle Sauvage is younger and a man who’s just been massacred by the Church, as he reminds us of in Northern Lights; he is wounded after all that has happened, almost in a tender way, as if he had been softened by it. But he still is himself; proud, arrogant and scholarly, he risks Lyra’s safety and his own to indulge himself and be with her for a while, to spite the Magisterium and its distasteful influence. Under the moonlight, he loves her so immensely, in such a raw and fiery way, that for a moment Malcolm even thinks Asriel might leave with her, and so did I.

Everything Asriel does, everything that leads to his war in the name of the Republic of Heaven, has to do with Lyra’s birth and how he lost everything because of the injustice the Magisterium imposed on the world; how he had an affair with a woman he loved and how she could easily have gotten a divorce to prevent all of that; how they took his fortune and prestige because he was defiant. The murders, the oppression, his career as a scholar, his life as a whole, and then after the affair, his daughter’s, all was threatened by the Magisterium. It’s hard to say when he decided to fuck up the sky, but I like to think by the time he left Lyra at Jordan, he was already working on his revenge, because when he lost everything, that was his turning point. He doesn’t do any of this because he is a caring, loving person; he does out of hatred and indignation, two powerful tools that fuel his existence for the next twelve years, perhaps even before then, in small dosages.

There’s constant evidence of his hatred for the Church and their dogmas, especially on chapter 21 in Northern Lights, when he monologues to Lyra about Dust and how the Church allowed such things as Bolvangar to happen, implying that as many others, including scholars, he knew about what was happening. There could be a number of reasons as to why he didn’t interfer, and the most obvious one is that he was in prison, so there wasn’t much he could in his position. A second, deeper reason, is Mrs. Coulter’s involvement with Bolvangar, and by involvement I mean leadership, basically. He was fully aware she was the one responsible for Bolvangar, even enlightening us:

“That’s why they had to hide away in the far North, in darkness and obscurity. And why the Church was glad to have someone like your mother in charge, Who could doubt someone so charming, so well-connected, so sweet and reasonable?” (page 374/375, Knopf edition).

He speaks of her work with contempt and distaste, but also in a tone as someone who once fell for her masquerade before fully understanding who she was and her ultimate goal. Being his former lover, he sees the fact she works with the very Church who ruined him because of her, as disgusting despite their weird relationship dynamic, (which I could write a whole essay on but I’m not, because I already did it in college and that essay took me to a very dark place lol) and he despises her relation to the Church far more than he despises the nature of her work. And, as we see in the Amber Spyglass, despite inviting her to come with him, he is not eager to be in her company because he simply doesn’t trust himself when it comes to her and neither does anyone who knows both of them.

But the main reason he didn’t interfere, it’s because Bolvangar’s action, however crude and in favour of his enemies, was something he could take advantage of and their cruelty simply didn’t concern his own work, even if it was a discovery of his own that allowed such a thing. While they were doing something awful, they were too busy to notice his domination over his own house arrest or his plans in general, giving him the time and space he needed to finish his work.

Cruel and straightforward, Asriel is too practical and indecent to say he cared about the children: he hated what they were doing because the Church was tied to it; La Belle Sauvage!Asriel might have interfered and cared about it (he saved gyptian children from a flood, restored Malcolm’s boat, was gentle and wise in a rough way), but Northern Lights!Asriel was simply far too blindsided by his wrath against the Authority and the Church to give a damn. The only moment we see him hesitate is when he sees Lyra in the North, and for a moment he is taken by the shock of thinking he might have to sacrifice Lyra to kill God and destroy the Church, who was trying to, you know, kill Lyra. An ironic and cruel position to put him in, and he would’ve killed her, make no mistake; he keeps away from her because he simply knows he would’ve sacrificed her, or anyone else, including himself, to destroy God and the Magisterium.

Understanding this wild, carefree and inconsequential man is a crude task. The thing is, redemption is an overused trope and not everyone that does something bad needs it (or wants it for the matter), Asriel being the person who least requires it, because:

He is not a villain. I have seen this a lot and it honestly confuses me. Asriel, if anything, plays the part of the antihero, and even then he does so very loosely. We are constantly reassured by him and by basically every third party in the book (Ruta Skadi and her infatuation, John Parry and his wise comprehension, Baruch and Balthamos and their first-hand experience of the Kingdom’s brutality, amongst others) that Asriel is the “hero” of the war, that he is righteous and the one with the right views. He is not your conventional saviour, in fact, he is human and flawed, self-centered and ambitious, but charismatic and knowledgeable; that blur our senses and the lines and we’re stuck thinking he is either a hero or a villain when Asriel is, in fact, neither.

His ultimate goal is clear, albeit readable only between the lines sometimes. He is a liar, arrogant and wrathful, but once we get to the Subtle Knife, his goal is more clear, at least from Thorold and John Parry’s points of view (Ruta Skadi too, but she is far too unreliable for being too infatuated with Asriel): he wants to kill God and take down the Kingdom of Heaven. He says it’s for freedom and blah-blah-blah, and although I believe he seeks that outcome in the end, the reason he is doing this is much more self-serving and closer to revenge rather than doing what is right. He is a spiteful man, whom has been robbed of his wealth and his life by a religious institution who serves God and does anything in the name of God. Asriel wants to take them down because it satiates his need for vengeance, alongside his scholarly nature, by being a pioneer and an explorer of multiple worlds. It’s an ego booster, something to pat yourself on the back for.

He is unapologetic. He never apologises, or seems regretful over his actions. He isn’t apathetic, but he clearly does not resent his own choices. Killing Roger was a tough decision, but one he was intent on making because it was what he needed to do to achieve his purpose (hence his hesitation towards Lyra; he would’ve killed her if Roger wasn’t there). That was by far the most beautiful and sensible death ever written by Pullman: he doesn’t extend it or makes it purposefully dramatic and that’s because Roger’s death was merely a switch for everything else: Lyra and Asriel’s journey. Sir Philip makes us believe that Lyra’s ultimate goal is to stop her warmongering father, then he dismantles Asriel’s portrayal as the endgame bad guy for things of higher nature and Lyra simply stop blaming him, instead blaming herself, and everything she does from them on, is to spite Asriel by always staying away from him and his Republic.

These three aspects of Lord Asriel’s character core are relevant because they exempt him of a redemption arc. He doesn’t need to be redeemed, he asks for no forgiveness and he knew, from the start, where things were going. Perhaps not on Lyra’s account, but the overall outcome of his war. He never backs down, nor hesitates and Ogunwe claims:

“We’re not going to invade the Kingdom,” he said, “but if the Kingdom invades us, they had better be ready for war, because we are prepared.” (page 210, The Amber Spyglass, Knopf edition).

Despite the Republic’s claims of being builders, not conquerors, Asriel was the commander of a massive force and he was, fully aware, that the Kingdom would not leave them be to mind their business. They wanted that war, he wanted that war, and everything he did was because of it. That is why he only is granted peace, in a sense, in death as they plunge down into the abyss; it was a price worth paying for wrecking Heaven. He never truly dies, but instead is forged into oblivion.

A villain can be redeemed, and so can a purposeless character, but Asriel is neither of these things. He has a clear purpose, and he has done good and bad things in his life, he never apologises for what he’s done and he doesn’t intend to. He mimics great rebels of epic stories, and he embodies all that is truthful and essential to human nature: knowledge, passion, rebellious mind, the apex of free will and the wrath against those who do us wrong. He is neither a saint, nor sinner: he is both, as are every person in those books, and he embraces fully his nature. Once again, as Mary said: he’s done bad things, but he isn’t evil himself. No one truly is.

Drama with TDP... Again

Quick Edit: I am NOT choosing sides. I am still open to any and all information. I am simply giving you a side of a story I believe plays some part in all of this. Do with it what you will. I am going to continue doing what I have been doing since the beginning until more information presents itself. If Aaron is bad- He will be dead to me and I will advicate for his immediate removal within the prefession as well as protection for these girls. Justice. If the girls are lying- I will continue to support Wonderstorm and keep doing what im doing now without much change.

If you come to me aggresively, I will not aknowledge you, I will block and move on. Though I will still answer questions and take in any information with an open mind and a calm tone. Listen, at the end of the day you will choose your ‘side’ though I wish there was no need for sides.

This drama that is appearing all over twitter is OLD NEWS. Danika and Lulu DO NOT and HAVE NOT worked at Wonderstorm since this all went down a year ago.

Here is my take on all of this:

A year ago, I believe it was April? There was a very popular blog called Ask-Aaravos-Anything. This blog was liked and followed by a lot of the fanbase. Well, out of the blue there were accusations of AAA child luring, having NSFW material littering their blog and not taking into consideration the younger fans.

Now, anyone who actually interacted with this blog knew all of that to be absolute lies. AAA was always very traight forward, took everything into consideration, repeatedly reminded us to be mindful of how we tag things and never had actual nsfw materials on their blog.

At the time Danika was managing the tumblr tdp blog. Danika DMed AAA and was vile and aggressive in her messages, enough so that AAA deactivated shortly after. You can still find some of the screenshots of the actual DMs as well as some DMs of AAA conversing with others about what happened and how they had felt about it and why they were deactivating. Soon after AAA’s deactivation, we got news that Danika had been scolded for her actions (As the entire fanbase who knew what was going on got up in arms about it) and she suddenly, convenietly had ‘another better job oppertunity’ And shortly after that we began to hear of general workplace harassment and gaslighting and sexual harassment from Danika.

As you know, that brought everyone up in arms once again and there was discourse. Then her friend, Lulu popped up as well with the same talk of harassment and having to deal with a negative work enviroment. Being in this industry for one is absolutely grueling, its not for everyone. It can be as bad as being in the film industry with actual actors.

Eventually things simmered down and life moved on.

Both Danika and Lulu have had an ENTIRE YEAR to talk about this, to continue pushing the issue, to continue speaking of these issues- they were fine speaking of it last year. Yet they remained quiet for all this time.

Now, when season 3 is about to drop, when Netflix likes to cancel shows, at this critical moment- they suddenly both pop up again? Neither of them work there anymore, this shouldnt be an issue for them anymore. Especially when they had ALL THIS TIME to talk of it. Yet they didnt.

And in regards to Danika stating they already had season 3 ready long, long ago- I have been in this industry briefly and I know people who are still in it, thats not how these things work. I doubt they were done months and months ago and were just sitting around doing nothing. Animation takes time- I wont get into it but its a lot.

Now listen.. As hard as it might be to swallow, we DO NOT know all the facts, only what we have been told by Danika and Lulu. And with Aaron refusing to make any statements or even acknowleding theres anything going on its hard to gather any real information- and we wont. We will not get anymore information, we will not get any more facts.

Unless authorities are involved or someone brings in a hidden camera into the studio, we will never know what the actual truth is. If it comes out that the girls are right then I’ll eat a spreader bar.

But I am going to continue supporting TDP and those who are part of this creation. (I dont care about Aaron, I care about the animators, voice actors, sketch artists, ect) I am going to continue posting content, continue writing fanfic, continue interacting with TDP related blogs.

Because I find it VERY suspicious this crap pops back up right now when its been so silent for an entire year.

If you couldn’t tell already, I already am wary of these girls because of what they did to AAA and the community at the time.

I refuse to be a mindless follower, I will not take sides until there are actual FACTS presented. I know this all sounds harsh, but I am wary of trusting anything spoken without proof. I have proof- just look it up, the old screenshots are still floating around. Im a assault survivor too- I am in full support if this all comes out to be true- and Ill eat that spreader bar.

I just thought I would put in my two cents and let you all know what originally went on, and why i am suspicious of this all flaring up again after being silent for so long. I will not be speaking of this again, nor will I be posting another big post such as this. However I will answer any questions you may have on this topic. Im not bashing on the girls, I am simply wary of believeing anything they say after what they did to AAA.

Curious Beginnings: Mollymauk (Part 2)

I’m re-watching campaign 2 focusing in Mollymauk’s behavior and trying to analyze it. I don’t know i will continue this, or the reaction that this might get, but here it is. It’s a simple way to divide canon/fanon Molly that i enjoy doing, so just…you can read it and comment your opinions if you want. Sorry if there’s any mistakes or nonsense in my writing, english isn’t my first language. You will see titles that will summarize the content of the paragraph, so you can decide what u want to read.

Circus enviroment: The circus has began. Different races, different instruments, different actions. Molly is juggling two scimitars, and almost loses one in the march. I feel like even with 2 years in, he’s still training on “how to circus”. The about to be m9 group follows them. Matt mentions that the Crown’s guards are being wary of the circus people. With the amount of suspicious and mistrust that they had to deal daily, i’m not surprise that both Molly and Yasha have some things in their personalities that are quite unique, especially when both had such strange origins. Folks with memory loss being cared by misfits creates special individuals.

Group conversation (Molly, Yasha, Beau): I didn’t remember how this reunion happens. Beau starts so scream “Molly!! Molly, hey!!” and Molly answers with “Oh, it’s my favorites”. I will never not be sad about these two, about the chaotic potencial that they had. “It’s going to be great tonight!” and again, Yasha tries to copy him with “It’s gonna hav-it’s-it’s gonna blow you away…you’re gonna love it”’. I said that she copies him because it always happens when he starts to say something like that, which makes Yasha go like “oh now? now is the time to say that? ok lets go”, creating this deadpan hype. Beau, forgetting the bitter moment with the cards, continues to engage with Molly asking what are the best seats. Molly answers that he prefers the front, because “if something goes wrong, it’s nothing between you and whatever terrible bloody mess is going to happen. It’s just the best” he seems to be so into this idea that doesn’t realize that maybe ordinary people don’t want that (Beau: what???) honestly….fucking Mollymauk. He lives for the that, for the trill, for the adrenaline, for the risks without thinking about the consequences. Of fucking course that he’s gonna die first, and every phrase that he says sounds foreshadowing.

Work in the circus: Gustav interrupts them, not letting Yasha continue her “give me all ur weapons” talk. The work of the circus seems more spontaneous and messy than anything (Yasha continues the inspections inside). He sends them to “set up” but then changes his mind and sends Mollymauk to card duty because they are in need of change. The money talk is very important, is something that never leaves their mind it seems. Of course, when you are on the road and you have a lot of people in need of food and resources, that’s your main goal. Molly is used to this and just does what he says.

Cards duty, Mollymauk working: He has a small crowd around him, its not hard for him to gain attention. There’s a farmer asking for his 3-4 months cough. Molly seems insure, tries to calm this man attempting to convince him that he’s getting better. But when the man buys it, Mollymauk recommends him a tincture. “A tincture is a mix of alcohol, water, and herbs that have been steeped together for several weeks. The resulting liquid is an extract that supposedly can help with everything from sleep deprivation to migraines, depending on the specific herb’s healing properties. Tinctures can be made out of ingredients like chamomile, yarrow, and even marijuana and can be consumed though tea, a drop under the tongue, or a capsule”. He drops the act of the cards to recommend him a legic medicine that he probably uses and sends him to get that looked at. When the farmer insists on getting his answers from the cards, Molly even sounds frustrated but continues the farse and tells him that the cards say that he should go to a doctor. Molly is not so worried about this man, more annoyed than anything “Give me strenght”. I guess this happens often by the way that he handles it. “Platinum dragon be with you” this is the first time that we see him mention this deity that he worships in public.

Molly and Yasha (+ Jester): When Yasha tries to get a hold of the weapons, Molly assures them saying “she’s very trustworthy”. Listen the amount of support that these two give each other all the time in front of others is ridiculous. If i start to think about the amount of love and support that they give each other in private i’ll start crying. When Jester makes her pinky swear, Yasha looks uncomfortable and Molly whispers “oh my god” and gives that best-friend-look to Yasha. They totally talk shit about people all the time.

Beau and the limp: Beau and Jester try to convince them that Beau has a limp and needs the staff. Molly, not being the most educated, basically says “can you give me your staff and show me your limp? for my own entertaiment?” Beau recognizes the tone and gets defensive “are you patronizing me, Mollymauk?” and Molly, again, showing his perspective of the world and mindset with just one phrase says “no, i’m hoping that you’re going to patronize us”. So, here’s the truth. Or the truth about the truth in Mollymauk’s eyes. Beau knows she’s lying, Mollymauk knows she’s lying, everyone knows the truth and the lie in this situation. But Molly is not expecting to expose her farse with this tactic, he doesn’t need to show the truth to everyone or even see the truth himself. He’s waiting to Beau to fake the limp, to go further in her lie, to entertaint him. The truth? who cares. His own amusement? So valuable. The normal answer when you find out that someone is trying to trick you or lie to you, is get defensive, feel insulted and think that the other person thinks you’re an idiot. Molly’s mind doesn’t work like that at all. He is a peakcock, but not on this ego at least.

Molly and Yasha: After that, Mollymauk or Taelisin, i’m not sure, laughs about the Yasha-Beau moment. The homoerotism of the moment, you see. When Jester questions Yasha’s hability to keep everyones weapons, Mollymauk makes sure to say “She’s very good at this” (Yasha: “I’m very good at this”) I knew that these two always talked good about each other but i think that at this point i need to keep track of this because is both sweet and surprising, even if i’m *gasp* why i’m gasping i already knew this. Talking about Fjord’s falchon, Yasha says “is nice” and Molly agrees “is very nice”. I swear to god are they fucking twins or something?

Molly, Jester and cards: Molly grabs the cards in a “very especific order” and turns to Jester. “Tiefling to tiefling” and as a thank you, one on the house. The Moon and the Shadow. They mean something to Jester (supposedly). Does anything have a theory about this? Why did Mollymauk pulled out those cards and if it really meant something to Jester?

Beau and Molly: When Yasha starts to carry Beau, Molly screams “such grace! such form! such dignity!” I think that at this point he recognized what kind of relationship he could have with Beau and starts to create the atmosphere for it. I have more thoughts about it, but this is not the time, i will talk about this in the future.

Molly and Yasha about Jester: Yasha says that Jester is adorable, and Molly agrees. “Highly entertained” again, his entertainment is at least, one of the most valuables things for them. They both agree that they like her. From all the members, they focused on Jester. Was her attitude? the fact that she’s so friendly and from all of them, the one that could fit the most in the circus? Maybe is because she never showed any shady answer or look, but complete trust? Is because she is a tiefling? Maybe all the above?

Clarification: I’m not saying that the cast thought about all of this or that it all makes sense, but i can find a sense in all of it and thats one of the fun things about analyzing things like this. If you guys like this, i’ll continue. If you have any comments or things to add, please feel free
