i know the obey me boys are all pretty rowdy in their own ways, especially once they've combined forces, but I do genuinely believe that each and every one of them would do their own thing to make sure you feel included in conversations, even if you happen to be a pretty quiet and shy person by nature.

under the cut: the seven demon brothers finding ways to help a reader who struggles to be heard/listened to during conversations

Lucifer commands attention when he's talking, it's just a known fact of the world. Barely anybody ever dares to interrupt him. It may take him a while to notice that you struggle to participate in conversations and interactions, but once he has, it lingers non-stop in his mind until he figures out a smooth way to rope you into the subject. He'll scold those who interrupt you, and sometimes just may randomly ask for your opinion on things, a bit like a teacher randomly calling on a student. Though he can be a bit of a bulldozer at times, he does make a conscious effort to make sure you feel seen and heard, and you get an opportunity to say your part in every conversation.

Mammon struggles with this a lot himself, on both sides - he often talks over others, but also gets talked over in turn, so it really frustrates him to see when you're not getting your turn to speak. He takes a headstrong approach to it, simply demanding for everyone else to shut up so you can speak. If anyone argues with him or interrupts when you're speaking, they'll earn a smack upside the head and a surprisingly stern look ("What, you didn't think I could take authority like that? I'm the second oldest, c'mon, give me some credit!"). He won't hesitate to try and preside over an entire conversation just to make sure everyone is getting a fair turn, and nobody is going on for too long. If all else fails and he knows you're still struggling to break into the conversation, he's more than happy to just pull you off to the side and inform you that you're allowed to say whatever you like to him, the others just get to miss out because they were all absorbed in whatever they were saying.

Leviathan is almost painfully ignorant of how much he can talk at times. He can go for minutes at a time with barely a break to take a breath, especially when it's a subject he's passionate about. He thrives at first when you seem to just let him talk a lot, but over time he begins to pick up on the signs, because he's had it happen to him, too (albeit in a much more over-the-top way from his brothers), and he soon starts to fret over you - he may categorise you as a 'quiet character' archetype in conversations but it's like it hurts him personally to see you try to enter a conversation only to fail. He works really hard to push conversations towards your interests and things you'd know about so you'll be given a fair go and an opportunity to shine and show off your knowledge! (Bonus points if it's also something he likes as well)

Satan is on the ball from the first time he sees it happen, and he silently seethes on your behalf, even if you don't seem all that upset. He agonises over it for a while, trying to hold in his anger until it just pops a few minutes later, and he goes off at anyone who talked over you or wouldn't listen to what you had to say. He's been ignored and spoken over his fair share of times, so it's a touchy subject to him, and he firmly believes that nobody else deserves that sort of treatment. If it happens again, he's on it right away, pointing out that you had something to say, and whoever spoke over you needs to wait their turn (usually in more unfriendly words). If it happens a third time, however, he'll just take your arm and drag you off and insist that he's more than happy to listen to you for as long as you like.

Asmodeus finds it to be a pretty baffling conundrum at first, he just doesn't quite grasp what the big deal is, it's not something he really notices, but if it's pointed out, or there's a certain subject he really wants your opinion on, he starts to pick up on it more and more, and it just won't sit right with him. The more he thinks about it, the sadder he gets on your behalf - to him, not being paid attention to is akin to a dagger in the heart. It's not long before he's figured out his own 'Asmo-coded' way of making sure you stay in the loop. He'll stand close by you when he can, sometimes draping an arm around you, twining your pinkies or holding hands - he has no problem keeping attention on himself, so by including you in his radiance, it's like the both of you are suddenly being listened to - it works like a charm, and you'll have any chance you like to fully dominate the conversation.

Beelzebub isn't really on the ball with social situations - he's a demon of few words, and those words are usually some variation of "I'm hungry.". However, he's had a few incidents where he's had something he felt was very important or genuine that he needed to say and has been talked over by his chattier brothers, so he knows what it's like. You'll notice that he always pays careful attention to you when you're speaking, and will keep his eyes on you even if you trail off as you get interrupted. He's experienced the same situation with Belphie a lot over the years, so knows what signs to look out for, and doesn't want you to go through the same grief his little brother has. He asks follow up questions to your statements and pays careful attention to the things you say - he may not have the greatest memory, but he tries really hard, and his warmth and kindness has a sort of comforting glow to it.

Belphegor, while it seems like he always has the attention of the others, knows exactly how you feel (albeit in a slightly different way). While he's heard, he's not listened to, and others tend to brush him and his words off pretty quickly, only to give praise to someone else when they say pretty much the exact same thing. Once he's started to notice the pattern, it's like he's always got an eye on you (when they're not both closed, that is). It's kind of like a mimicry of what Beelzebub does, but in his own signature way. It's kind of like, when he notices you're being shunned out of the conversation, he's pulling you into a separate little bubble off to the side and making sure that you know that you've got his attention and you're allowed to speak as much as you like to him without having to worry about being spoken over or not listened to.

Isabelle is twisted from Belle, she's an RSA student!

Isabelle is the princess of a very small kingdom in the Shaftlands called Roseneuve (inspired by 19th century France and victorian/regency era England). Her dad, despite being king, loves to create things and study, so he always encourages her to study as much as she can. She's a bookworm and, despite being royalty, she's the youngest of the family, — third in line to the throne — so she's often teased by her sisters about how much time she prefers spending with her books than with real people.

Isabelle is kind and warm as often are RSA students, but different from them she can be really sassy, and doesn't stay quiet when people undermine her or her friends; speaking of which, surprisingly, Isabelle doesn't have many friends. Isabelle’s father and kingdom are known for being very creative and for being ahead of their time in the sense of improvement and inventions. Most people think she's a bit weird because of how much time she spends studying/reading books because of wanting to live up to the reputation of her dad so she's often labeled as the weirdo of the school — people don't bully her though, it's still RSA + they're not going to mess with a princess.

Also, Isabelle is the housewarden of Rosantée, a made up dorm based on Beauty and the Beast that me and my friend @viilpstick created. She got the position by dueling the current housewarden in her second year, wanting the position so people would stop avoiding her — while it did help and eventually she became respected in her dorm, at least in the beginning it backfired because people were forced to talk to her and didn't come to her because they wanted to.

Fun facts: Leona and Isabelle have chess matches with one another ever since they've become somewhat tolerable with each other's presence, and they've been on a tie ever since.

Unique Magic: Inner Beauty - allows her to read a specific aspect of a person's life, whichever one she chooses, (ex: their unique magic, their name, a certain part of their past etc) but it can only be done once. This only add to the fact of the students wanting to avoid her.

Relationship dynamics:

Leona Kingscholar: Isabelle and Leona were promised to each other a year before Isabelle enrolled at RSA to increase the better relationships between the two kingdoms (in other words, because Isabelle's kingdom is small, they're interested in it to gain a bigger, much stronger ally, and in Sunset Savannah's end they'd appreciate the amount of technological advances Isabelle's kingdom has). They hated the idea of an arranged marriage but they didn't have much of a say in the topic, and while Isabelle decided to deal with it the best she could so her country could prosper, Leona didn't really make any effort to get to know her at first nor to try and make the engagement something at least tolerable. Leona made an awful first impression to Isabelle, and ever since their first meeting they've been butting heads, but after a while of spending time together (forced time, may I add) and getting to know each other, they warmed up to each other and slowly fell in love.

Neige: Isabelle and Neige met each other right at her first year in school and he was one of the few people to actually accept her. She had a crush on him for a while, but she was rejected + she knew she wouldn't be able to break her engagement with Leona so she gave up. They're really good friends and always are seen together.

Chenya: Isabelle gave up trying to understand him a long time ago. At this point his weird manner of speaking and the way he just makes his head visible doesn't phase her one bit, she's used to him. Also, she's able to speak his full name with a straight face.

Malleus Draconia: they've known about each other since they're both royalty and because of Malleus's reputation, + him and Adeline have a will they won't they thing going on. Malleus and Isabelle have a mutual understanding, since most people tend to avoid them due to being scared and/or finding them weird. She tries to invite him to tea every once in a while.

Adeline Rosique (oc by @viilpstick <33) : Adeline and Isabelle are very close friends, and I believe Isabelle admires Adeline in a way, and she has this big sister vibe to her. She also appreciates how Adeline didn't really care for how beautiful she looks nor about the rumors and stuff people talk about her. Adeline is also Isabelle's vice housewarden and her most trusted friend in the school other than Neige.

Kavetham/ Haikaveh/ Alhaitham + Kaveh character analysis because yes

a/n: why is their colour christmas themed

This post will contain Kaveh and Al Haitham's past, Haitham's story quest, voicelines spoilers, Sumeru Archon Quest spoilers, shipping mentions!! proceed with caution. Enjoy my 2nd yap session :3

First, Al haitham. No, he is not a cold, apathetic alpha male that will abuse Kaveh (you heard me), he is a man with depth, depth!! He is the Scrbe of the Akademiya, now the Grand Sage, and he not remotely near anything of the fanon interpretations i mentioned above.

He is a man who not so much as struggles with emotions in that sense, but can be extremely blunt when getting his point across, as see throughout the archon quest. Because of this, people around the Akademiya and i think some people outside(?) call him cold, mean, and many negative traits.

Al Haitham was extremely close to his grandmother, and he has no recollection of his mother and father, who died very early in his childhood by a car accident. His grandmother, as far as i know, was one of his closest, perhaps his only family member. And she's dead.

Now, onto the blunt side (i'll get into Kaveh through his paragraph, trust). This blunt side of Al haitham is shown when speaking to Kaveh (i think during his story quest), which may spark the view in game and maybe some fan's interpretations that they hate each other's guts. But Haitham really does care for Kaveh, he just doesn't show it lik how Kaveh shows his care for Haitham, yk? Its a miscommunication issue between these two.

In turn, Laveh is a emotional, and emotionally intelligent man. His kindness is often taken advantage of. An example, Dori and her palace of alcazarzaray, which until now, he still owes debt towards her until now. Kaveh himself is a man who has a heavy and deep story to him. His father had passed away, and he had to watch his mother fall into a deep depression, and eventually, she moved to Fontaine after being offered a job there. So he's alone, great. Kaveh is a man who is emphathetic of the people around him, and ever so thoughtful. But it has its flaws. He's emotionally volatile, and far too considerate of everyone around him. A doormat, essentially.

Now, Haitham and Kaveh's bond. Romantic or platonic, they have history, you cannot deny that. They've known each other since theri schooling days at the Akademiya, and even if everyone who sees them on surface level, think of them as roommates who bicker, hate each other's guts, no. 100% wrong, incorrect buzzer, go cry. They care for each other, in their own little ways, you know? If they did hate each other, you'd think they'd even talk?? Im sure ecen if their roomates, they'd find ways to avoid each other if their enemies.

Kaveh and Haitham's bond, shipping or not, runs much, much deeper than simply schoolmates turned roommates who bicker and argue all day. If Haitham doesn't care for Kaveh, he'd surely kick him out. Dont forget, even though he collects rent from Kaveh, he's willing to let him stay. No enemy does that (yes, im looking at you enemies x y/n stories, no, haitham and kaveh are not that dynamic) for you except in your dreams. Likewise, if Kaveh hates Haitham's guts, he would most likely find his own place by now, even if he is kind and generous with mora, he'd save just to get away. So no, they dont hate each other, enough about 'enemies to lovers' troupe with them.

Now, this may be a lil bit of a stretch, but their voicelines contrast each other perfectly. Kaveh's favourite foods are hot soup and fruits, and Haitham's least favourite food? You guessed it, hot soup because he doesn't like eating that while reading. Even one of their idles match, its even canon, Al Haitham likes to take Kaveh's house keys, making Kaveh wait and have to ask Al Haitham to open the door. The two of them were made with love by hoyo, and whether you ship these two or not, they have a deep and close bond that unless you read their voicelines and stories, and other character's observations of them, its a little bit difficult to understand them both, separately or as a ship.

Conclusion: Al Haithem and Kaveh are complex characters by themselves, and their bond is equally as intricate as them. I may not play genshin as much, but i love them both.

Primitive Liars

Summary: Light is a being of intellect, not of instinct; however, he may be starting to understand that the two are not mutually exclusive. While he struggles to define himself in an unjust world, a new Kira holds society - along with a couple other valuable things - hostage. Omegaverse AU.

Notes: My absolute favorite lawlight fic. Right up there with Of Music. I have probably read Primitive Liars 20-30 times and still love it. Its that good. Primitive Liars is the fic that introduced me to the abo genre and I have not found another fic that does it as good as this one does. Primitive Liars, my beloved ❤️❤️❤️

Time Speaks

Summary: In his first life, L died in the arms of his greatest enemy.

In his brief second one, he died alone.

And in his third, too-long life, L died anticipating finally getting even with the man who'd won their game one too many times.

And Light Yagami? If he'd known this is what picking up the Death Note would bring....well, he'd probably still have done it anyway.

Notes: This fic has everything. I love it. I adore it. Its tied as my favorite ao3 fic with Primitive Liars. Lawlight loop over and over, and fall in love while Playing Their Game (reference intended). Each arc has something different, each arc is amazing. Words cannot describe how much i recommend this fic. If there's one and only one lawlight fic you will ever read, it should be this one 🙏.

Decisions and Consequences

Summary: [Part 1] “Ryuzaki I think you’re right about me, I think that at one point I was Kira”. Light decides to trust L when he admits that he too suspects himself of being Kira and asks L for help in preventing him from becoming Kira again.

[Part 2] After giving up the Death Note, Light struggles with the knowledge of what he has done. No longer believing in the ideals he followed as Kira, he now has to live with the fact that he himself is what he so despised: a murderer.

Notes: This is a series of 2 fics. It has ace Light, L who loves Light, Light facing the consequences of his actions and learning to live with them. This fic takes what it does seriously. This is a journey of Light healing from being Kira and finding someone to share his life with in the process. I cannot recommend this enough. Enough of Kira getting away scott free from his actions, giving up the notebook and never facing what he has done because amnesia is a get-out-of-jail free card. This Light faces reality head on.

In The Eye Of The Snowstorm

Summary: During a cold, Colorado winter after L's defeat of Kira, Light struggles to deal with the fact that he has lost the game. But along with the bitterness of losing his New World brews something deeper: the pain from a much more personal blow dealt to Light by L on the day his godhood crumbled around him, juxtaposed against his still-lingering love for the detective. Across five scenes where Light refuses to admit he's still in love with L, and one scene where he finally does - the two learn to live together again despite the storm that they've created.

Notes: People often forget that for the Kira case, it's ultimately L's decision on how it ends. L is the detective in charge of the case, L is the one with connections, resources and authority who could have both saved and/or condemned Light even if they had been in a relationship. In short: their relationship and its future was ultimately L's choice. This is a true compromise fic. Which can also be seen as an L wins fic. I love how soft it was and how they get their happy ending without either of them compromising their morals or thoughts, despite being in love.

Into The Grey

Summary: Light is a young, hot, reclusive Omega who follows all the rules and does it all right. Except when he's sneaking out to capture criminals as the vigilante only known as Kira. L will always and forever be the world's greatest detective, but the Alpha might have a little competition in the Kanto region of Japan.

In a world just barely free of Omega oppression, these two geniuses find themselves in a race against the clock and each other.

Notes: Another Lawlight abo fic. This is my one of my favorite abo fics, mixing a new case, a new take on death note characters in a world without shinigami. I love the dynamics and the political backstory this fic explores throughout the plot. The world building is amazing. I love it.

Seeking His Hand

Summary: Soichiro asks: "Why do you want to marry my son?"

L stares at him for a moment, then sighs almost imperceptibly. "It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife. …or husband."

A historical regency-esque romance AU in which L seeks Light's hand in marriage. And that's only the beginning.

Notes: Regency Era lawlight AU. Yes!

Heirs and Spares

Summary: L and Light are all that remain of the first generation of Wammy House kids. L's the world's greatest detective and Light runs the House cultivating a new generation of geniuses into useful positions. They're rivals first and family second. But Watari suggests, in case of emergencies, it makes sense for them to legally be each other's next of kin. Light's not so sure he wants to marry L, despite the logic of the suggestion, but L's seemingly on board with the idea. Or is it his idea in the first place…?

Notes: Growing up together at Wammy's AU! Yesyesyesyes!!! This is my favorite fic by TrashKing.

Death Wish

Summary: Death Note users don’t go to heaven or hell. Instead, Ryuk sends Light to an alternative universe where the Death Note exists but it doesn’t fall within his grasp. Even though he doesn’t have the Death Note, L still suspects him and the worst part is that in this new world he is an omega. Hilarity ensues.

Notes: Summary is accurate. I really can't say more because that would be spoilers.

The Sweet Taste Of Silver

Summary: Email after email…It only made Light sicker to look at them. Final notice. Past due. Expulsion threats. He knew going to one of the best schools in the country would be pricey, but that's what his scholarships were for, right? At least until they start running out. At least he'll have his internship…And his new employer.

Notes: The lawlight sugarbaby AU. Has a sequel from Ryuk's PoV, which is absolutely hilarious.

Sit and Stay A While

Summary: "The obsession prodded again, pushing at him, but Light didn’t let it near his mouth. He shoved it down, hard, until it thundered down the cellar stairs of his mind palace. Sulking below all his appropriate thoughts was the insistent wanting that made him avoid L’s gaze – the desire to sit in L’s lap."

(Light has a fantasy of sitting in L's lap, and he's got a plan to make that a reality.)

Notes: Light wants to sit in L's lap. He has a 12 step plan for it. Light is good at planning, so he achieves his goal.

Shining Light

Summary: Bored beyond comprehension, Ryuk decides after seeing what humans do with the Death Note, to experiment with what would happen if a human lived their whole life with access and knowledge of the Death Note. This leads him to find four-month-old Light Yagami, whom he decides to use as his test subject and has a little fun.

Light's parents, as with anybody else, can't see Ryuk and thus think Light is possessed, so while trying to find answers, Soichiro turns to a young cadet for assistance taking care of his son.

Light grows up knowing he is different but rarely bored with Ryuk by his side throughout his whole life and having little interest in using the Death Note, training in Shinigami magic and learning the ways of the world instead. But things become interesting when, after multiple incidents regarding his secret, someone else with the Death Note begins using it as the mass killer known as Kira.

Add in a dumbfounded detective and a task force all aware of Light's situation and far past caring, and Ryuk knows he made the right choice because he's found plenty of entertainment, even though he has to fight the protective instinct he's developed towards Light.

Notes: There are many things I love about this AU. The first and foremost being its world building.

Is This The Way It Ends Now

Summary: L dangled the note in front of him. It had appeared out of nowhere, as had the accompanying CD. It claimed to contain information crucial to their investigation.

Was this a trick? Another evolution of Kira's power? Perhaps a different supernatural force trying to help them against Kira?

He didn't know, but the only way to find out was to view it.

Notes: This fic is here because of three reasons. That its good and well written. That its the only complete series watch fic. And that I love this fic. However, I am aware this fic and its take on Kira isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Better than the rest

Honey In Your Tea

Summary: Light falls with a cup of hot coffee in hand. L is to blame.

Notes: A blind!Light AU. Light is not Kira AU too. So soft and sweet and tender and I just can't-

The Execution Of All Things

Summary: "I want to be soft, to say here is my underbelly and I want you to hold the knife, but I don’t know what I want you to do: plunge or mercy. I deserve both. I want to hold and be held." – Nicole Homer

A world where Light is shot by Higuchi at the end of episode 7 and doesn't regain his memories or the Note.

Notes: The one and only lawlight fic for the TV drama. Well, not really. There are other fics too. But this one, is my favorite of them all.

Fifteen Stories Down

Summary: When a series of explosions brings down a hotel in the heart of Tokyo, Detective Light Yagami finds himself trapped in the company of the strangest man he's ever met.

Notes: An excellent Light is not Kira AU, with adult!Light and L meeting down the line.

Bodach Killa

Summary: Having found Light's deadly notebook, L sees but one way to force a confession out of him: become his closest friend and confidant. To this purpose, L goes undercover to To-Oh, as Kira supporting college student Hideki Ryuga. Somewhere along the way of this ethically questionable quest, L finds the friend he'd been missing all along.

Notes: L finds early proof of the death note. The case takes a whole new direction.

Wordplay

Summary: Three murders in Japan mark the beginning of what seems to be a slightly abnormal copycat case. However, it turns into a much more complicated scheme that pushes L and Light to their limits in order to solve it and catch the killer.

Notes: A case fic with adult lawlight that's more about Light and Sayu's relationship. Lawlight is there too.

Passengers

Summary: It comes in the middle of the night, on the eve of L's death. Both L and Light find themselves on a train right out of science fiction, handcuffed and totally unprepared.

Notes: Lawlight crossover with infinity train. No prior knowledge of Infinity train required.

Bluebird

Summary: Light Yagami had always found his day to day life menial and mundane. He was startled out of his boredom by the sudden appearance of the supernatural mass murderer, Kira. Light had certainly not expected his last year of high school and first year of college to be so convoluted and stressful as the greatest detective in the world suspects him of being the greatest mass murderer in history. Light must work with L to catch the real Kira before it's too late.

Notes: Light isn't Kira in this AU. Someone else, an original character, is Kira. And that takes the plot in a whole new direction. That is what I love about this fic.

Hidden

Summary: All gammas are the same, seen as basically genderless they are raised equally before presenting as either alpha females or male omegas.

Light Yagami never really cared about his gamma status until other's took notice. Fearful of spending life as a kept omega, Light will fight against anything, including his own instincts, to be seen as an alpha instead.

But fighting one's dynamic isn't easy.

Light just hopes it isn't impossible.

Notes: A fic that explores the social problems inherent in an typical abo world.

Tangled

Summary: L and Light divorced ten years ago and split the kids. When Mello demands to meet his twin brother L is forced to reassemble the family unit and co-parent with Light while they figure out a new custody arrangement. But, despite all that’s been said and done, feelings linger and both parties start to wonder if there are pieces of their broken marriage that can be salvaged?

Notes: Ex and established lawlight AU. Lawlight as parents in this AU. It's wonderfully done and I love it.

Introduction To Muggle Studies By Yagami Light

Summary:

How to use a Death Note - Rule 4: The person in possession of the Death Note is possessed by a god of death, its original owner, until they die.

ICW Classification of Magical Beings - A muggle possessed or bonded with a magical being, similar to a muggle infected by a werewolf and surviving, is no longer a classified as a muggle. They are, for all intents and purposes, a wizard/witch.

Notes: This one was a tough choice for me, for various reasons. But in the end, I put it here because yes, it's a fun read! A crossover between Harry Potter and Death Note. Fake character death, lots of pining, long distance lawlight relationship. Knowledge of Harry Potter needed upto book 4.

Back Again

Summary: What is Light to do when he wakes up after his life as a Shinigami is over, only to find himself with both his memories and his life back to the way it was before…with the Death Note in his school bag?

Notes: Lawlight AU where Light time travels.

Touch Starved

Summary: L's a Blue Poison Dart, an endangered species closely related to the blue poison dart frog. His life has been difficult, prejudiced and overall touch-starved. But he spends his days as L, the world's greatest detective, who's species is undisclosed to the general populace. When other endangered species start dying and disappearing in Japan, he decides he must travel there to solve the case.

On the way, he meets the Kitsune Light, a Japanese 9-tailed fox. They start a relationship, L unaware that he's next on Light's list.

Summary: L wasn’t a good driver; he could admit that, to himself. Since he and Quillsh were the only ones who knew the route to the old Wammy summer home, L wasn’t surprised to be behind the wheel. (Thankful, maybe, that he had the forethought to secure this little automatic Volkswagen rather than flounder on the stick shift Quillsh always tried to teach him.) He dared to be happy about his driver role, even; it was appropriate that he chauffeured Light to where they’d be married in a day’s time. Something romantic about crossing the threshold, carrying his love into his world – L stuck out his tongue. Long drives made him corny.

Sail The Wildest Stretch

Summary: Light Yagami has a Final Destination-esque vision of his seven years as Kira. He wakes up in his high school on the day he receives the Death Note. What will he do differently, knowing the future?

Notes: What can I say, I have a weakness for lawlight time travel fics.

Do It Again, L!

Summary: "The moment L’s eyes close at the time of his death, he awakes in a panic in his bed.... Before L can move forward, he would need to perform tests.... The things he knows right now: .... He had just gone from dying of a heart attack in Japan to lying in his bed over 6,000 miles away in a blink of an eye. He distinctly remembers being 25 years old, but now he looks closer to ten. "

Notes: After 2 fics with Light going back in time, it's L's turn to time travel.

Throw the dice and play with me

Summary: You don’t forget how to play the game just because you lost at it and Light had their instructions manual permanently etched into his very soul.

L wins AU! in which Light has been in jail for two years when L shows up asking for his help with a case. Light desperately wants to help, he missed their competition and has been very bored without it but he feels that L is hiding something. Still, Light helps hesitantly, all the while trying to figure out what game the detective is playing at. Meanwhile, L is willing to play at any game, as long as Light plays with him.

Notes: An L wins fic, this fic has L coming back for Light. Light is, of course, still hurt by his time in prison and the lack of trust everyone except L shows him. L is there to catch light and put him back together. I loved reading this because it was not as dark as some other "L wins and Light in prison" fics get, but still tackles the issues it presents.

Corruption

Summary: After the LA BB murder case Naomi Misora has finally returned to work for the FBI as planned. Her first task on her return, requested through the pipeline by L, is to interrogate Beyond Birthday, who has not told any of the investigators anything about his crimes up to that point.

Beyond proves himself useful to the FBI to help solve the cases that they are stuck on, and so Naomi is sent back again and again, and gradually is drawn into Beyond's web.

Notes: Wherein Beyond gets together with Naomi and plays matchmaker for lawlight.

Another Path

Summary: Rem makes a different call (based from Episode 15 of the TV series).

Notes: Rem confesses to L that Light was Kira. L, attached to Light by now, decides he is a better choice for Light than death or prison. This fic has a novel approach to L wins post Yotsuba arc. I don't remember except that I enjoyed it.

Hurt, Angst, Tragedy, Whump. Mixed with Comfort and Bittersweet endings, for a treat.

Who Am I and Who Are You?

Summary: Light has been under suspicion of being Kira for far too long. After his girlfriend, Misa Amane, falls under suspicion for actual DNA evidence tying her to the case. Light then goes into confinement. And even after he has gone to extreme lengths to prove that there is no way he could be Kira, L still doubts him. Because L just KNOWS Light Yagami is Kira. The only way for L to be assured of Light's innocence or guilt is to become handcuffed to him. And no matter how long it takes, L will get a confession. No matter what he has to do, he will find out the truth. And Light will do anything to save his own life, to convince L that he isn't Kira. Even at the cost of his own sanity. This is all just a game, but a game that could be deadly.

Notes: Ever thought what if Light really wasn't Kira, he was really a scapegoat and L went on Hard Mode during Yotsuba arc? This is that fic. I love this version more than the rewrite, because this one has a happy ending. Bittersweet ending. As happy as it can be, anyways. A whump, hurt/comfort fic, this fic balances veryyyy nicely between hurt and comfort.

Note2: This fic has a second version, a sort of rewrite. That version is a very bad ending for lawlight. I won't link it here, but those industrious ones of you who enjoy such fics can look it up in the author works.

Genius Is A Curse

Summary: If Light had never touched the Death Note, would he ever have found an escape from the depression and boredom that plagued him? Would he have had a future at all?

Notes: This... isn't exactly lawlight. This is more L and Light. However, imo, lawlight undertones are there. It might just be the shipping fan in me speaking though. This fic isn't for the faint hearted. It's depressing. Light is depressed, L is depressed, at a point they both get suicidal. I don't suggest reading it in one go. I also suggest being at least 21+ when reading it. Please, read the tags, mind the warnings and be safe mentally when you read this fic.

A Thin Veil

Summary: There is a thin veil between sadism and masochism, life and death, order and chaos, and all of this becomes apparent as Light comes up with his most sadomasochistic plan yet, willingly subjecting himself to illness and an agonizing death to force the hand of the task force and scare them into dropping the case, as well as prove his "innocence."

While L suspects that this is all somehow Light's doing, he finds it harder and harder to watch Light suffer as he gets increasingly ill, even if he wants to help catch Kira with the limited amount of time he has left. L refuses to lose the game, but at the same time finds the idea of losing Light to be equally unpleasant, leading him to search frantically for a loophole or capture Kira before Light dies as collateral damage.

Notes: Light will do anything to prove himself as not-Kira. Including forcing himself through sickness- Uncaring of the emotional tolI it would take on himself and everyone around him. I was looking for hurt or sick Light fics other than the one with religious undertones. And I found an alt sick Light fic. This one. It was well worth the search as oh boy does Light prove to all and sundry just how much he is willing to sacrifice for his 'New World'.

Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

Summary: L has always struggled with insomnia and sleep paralysis. But the Kira Case is making it worse. He knows that if he continues like this, he'll end up self-destructing.

Notes: L and Light are both in a bad place. They help each other recover.

Grip me tight (won't you love me before you go)

Summary: Engaged Lawlight but Light isn't Kira and is killed by Kira for being with L.

Notes: Short, to the point, ripped my heart out in less than 1000 words.

Reflections

Summary: L spends a day with Light. Everything is as it should be.

Notes: A sad tragedy fic. This fic is here as a break before we go into truly bad ending and psychological horror/thriller fics.

I Will Follow You Into The Dark

Summary: Four hundred and ninety days.

Less cryptically, L kidnaps Light, perhaps for reasons all his own.

Notes: L is a sadistic bastard. Not in the whump way. L wants to win, L wants to defeat Kira, L wants Light. And L will do anything for it, Light's wishes and well-being be damned. There is no comfort here.

Inked

Summary: Light Yagami keeps his soulmark hidden at all times. L wants to know what it looks like. Things ensue.

Notes: A soulmate AU where L isn't Light's soulmate. That doesn't stop L.

A Balm For Social Failure

Summary: L begins to suspect something is missing from his life. He believes the key to be in social interaction - his weak point. At the appearance of the enigma named Light Yagami, he is challenged to rise to the occasion.

Notes: Light is a bastard. This has a happy ending, in a way. But the journey there is filled with dubious triggers.

Fade

Summary: When a mysterious notebook falls from the sky, bearing the story of a world in which Kira reigns supreme, L is forced into a desperate struggle to change both his fate and the fate of the world. But his attempts are complicated when he discovers that he only holds half of the story—and that the other half resides with the living paradox that is Light Yagami. The resulting chaos finds two geniuses from different worlds thrown together, racing to change the future.

Notes: This fic.... I like to pretend that L and Light reached Wammy's and that's where it ends. That it has a happy ending. But it does not. It took my heart, filled it, and then stomped it to the ground.

Prisoners

Summary: L got enough evidence to imprison Light but not destroy him. Two years into Light's confinement L is desperate to move the dial towards a decisive victory and close the Kira case once and for all but he’s not sure how much of his own mind he’ll have to crack into pieces to do that. Especially when there’s a very real chance Light’s lost his mind entirely.

Notes: Usually, I only read and rec happy ending fics. I remember reading this one, without checking the warnings. Its been a long time since, but I still remember this fic and believe it has to be here. Check the warning tag before reading, guys!

You're 38, Light

Summary: On Light's 38th birthday, he has a special visitor, triggering many memories.

Notes: This fic makes me sick. It's good as a bad ending fic, but oh gosh, why, just kill Light already, L.

Dealing With Shinigami

Summary: Meet Prince Light, a prince who, to the public's eye, is everything a prince is meant to be—handsome, brilliant, hand-working, kind, polite. In actuality, he is hot-headed and headstrong, has strong sense of justice that goes against how the kingdom runs...

And bored.

So bored that news of an arranged marriage leads him to run away to live with a Shinigami. And not just any Shinigami, but Ryuk—one of the most powerful, dangerous, and equally bored Shinigami around. Of course, Light has a way of hooking up with dangerous characters, and soon he's coping with a witch, a jinn, a death-dealing talking bird, a stone prince, and some very irritating Yotsuba wizards. Eventually, he will find the not-very-kingly King of the Enchanted Forest who may sweep him off his feet.

If the prince ran away to find some excitement, it looks like he's found plenty.

Notes: A fairy tale world with death note characters. Meet Light as a prince who is bored, L is a king who is lonely, Ryuk as a shinigami who is looking for fun. The world building uses classic tropes for fun, the character interaction leaves me wanting more, I love everything about this fic.

Welcome To The Family

Summary: L has concluded that Light is Kira but due to his own conflicted feelings instead of arresting Light or having him executed as he promised he kidnaps Light and dumps him at Wammy's House…

Notes: My favorite "Light gets taken to Wammy's" AU. Too bad it stops at the best time.

Yagami Light can have a little mental breakdown, as a treat.

Summary: In which Light goes through the five stages of grief, Misa is a good friend, L has the best night of his life, and everybody else is just along for the ride.

(AKA: The uni AU in which Light has a crush and doesn't know it until everybody else does as well).

Notes: Lawlight university AU. Misa helps Light "denial isn't just a river in Egypt" Yagami reach enlightenment. L "idiot in love and doesnt know how to flirt" Lawliet, the target of said crush, gets front row seats to the discussion.

The Complaints Box

Summary: "Gentlemen," he addressed everyone in the room with a meaningful glance, then focused on the cardboard box, "It is my understanding that ever since we've moved into this building, relationships between you all have been... tense. Petty arguments are not constructive for the workplace; therefore, I have decided to introduce a conflict preventative measure, a source of stress relief if you will."

In which, Watari decides that everyone in the office needs to begin venting their stress like mature adults. And within those pages were not rants worthy of a therapist's shrine, but a documented love story...

Notes: A fun and amusing read. Watari has such great ideas.

Eat, Fight, Love

Summary: L was perfectly content to live out a solitary existence among his sweets and puzzles, and never considered that one day he might actually have to beat the shit out of his soulmate upon seeing them for the first time.

Yes, what absolute nonsense.

Notes: Where soulmates punch each other at first sight.

Unexpected Little Guest

Summary: Sayu and her husband decides to go on a vacation for two weeks and leave their eight years old daughter, Mei, in the hands of Light and L.

Light had thought about starting a family for quite some time, so he gladly accepts it to see what kind of a father L would be with this little adventure.

L, on the other hand is everything but happy about this. But in this two weeks, he develops something for the little girl that he didn't expect at all...

Notes: Established lawlight. Light wants a child. Sayu needs a babysitter. Light has an idea.

Basket Case

Summary: During the day, he writes names on coffee cups. At night, he writes names in the Death Note. Now starting his third year at To-Oh, Light Yagami didn’t think his life could get any more complicated. Until L Lawliet came and screwed everything up.

A college AU where Light is Kira but L isn't a detective.

Notes: A fun AU where Light is Kira, L isn't a detective and Ryuk ships it.

This Isn't A Noir Film

Summary: Moving to Los Angeles was not Light's best idea. It's blazing hot, always on fire, the traffic is the worst, and the mafia is acting up all over again. When Rod Ross is found not guilty yet again on murder charges and the murders start up again, Light joins a taskforce with decidedly eccentric people who could all only be described as complete and utter pricks. He should be more worried about what's happening to the city he lives in and the people he's sworn to serve and protect, but honestly, he's a bit more concerned at how well he fits in with these weirdos.

Notes: A fic set in the backdrop of LA. I don't recall much about this fic except that it's good.

Treaty

Summary: When Great Britain and Japan come to an agreement on a major treaty between the two countries, there is a long standing requirement between the country's packs that must be upheld. A match between a high ranking or highly valued Alpha and Omega must be made between the countries as a sign of good faith. With all of the official nobility of age already mated in both countries, Great Britain selects an Alpha, the World's Greatest Detective as their representative. While the country of Japan, provides their best and brightest, the attractive son of the distinguished Chief of the NPA, Light Yagami.

Both L and Light are thrown in as reluctant participants. Each with their own secrets, personal challenges and life ambitions. Can they find a way to happily co-exist or will the obstacles they face prove too much to overcome?

Notes: This is a lawlight abo AU which is crack taken seriously. So dont take the fic seriously, alright? OOC abound.

Koi No Yokan

Summary: Koi no yokan 恋の予感: the feeling upon first meeting someone that you will inevitably fall in love with them.

Light decides to take a little risk and seek a no-strings-attached hookup and gets a surprising (accidental) match. Light and L gradually open up to each other over the course of a night, not knowing who the other is. However, as they go back to their lives in the morning, suspicions take hold and secrets come to light. The chance meeting starts to feel a lot more like fate as L closes in on Kira, and both must decide whether they felt anything real for the other and what that means. This decision is only the first of many as Light plans his New World and L finds out sinister secrets about his childhood and Wammy’s House.

Notes: The ultimate death note conspiracy fic. This fic has boldly gone where no fic has gone before. No regrets, no takebacks. Leave logic outside the door. There will be no fic that can compare to the twists and turns this one takes, ever again.

IWBFT meta: The Arks 1st person perspective

I love how Alice plays with 1st person perspective in IWBFT and the extra stories especially when it comes to the Ark.

First to keep in mind is that the week, we as the audience, are introduced to the Ark, they are not doing so well. All of them are stressed over the new contract. Being famous is a nightmare. Listers addiction issues are getting out of hand, Rowan and Bliss are in a rocky place and Jimmy is starting to regret their success. So it obviously colours their current relationships with each other as well. What's also clear from the bands timeline is that by becoming famous together at such a young age, their friendships aren't just friendships, they are also coworkers and the expectations one has towards one's coworkers is very different from one's friends. They are still navigating those dynamics and given that Listers friendship with Rowan and Jimmy was still relatively new in comparison to when they hit it big (about 2-3yrs old, they've been co-workers longer to be honest) this impacts his relationship with them as well since work has taken over the majority of their lives at this point.

In IWBFT we get Jimmy's perspective on his friends and the bands relationships with each other. I think the mistake a reader could make though is to assume that his perspective is the objective lens on how the boys operate with each other because Ghosted very much shifts a lot of what we were lead to assume by giving us Rowan and Listers POVs

Now there are some things at all three boys know and acknowledge in their POVs like that both Rowan and Lister are closer to Jimmy than they are to each other for example.

However Jimmy says that Lister and Rowan argue alot but in Ghosted we het context that both Rowan and Lister are pretty clear that these swipes at each other are largely banter and play fights for the most part.

Both Lister and Rowan may not have deep talks often but their blunt words are actually quite refreshing, in a better context it could even be a healthy dynamic that the two can shoot straight from the hip with each other. And though they don't share many similar hobbies they both love video games and bond over it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Lister told Rowan about the studio lady before he ever told Jimmy. And although Jimmy has known Rowan most of his life, it's only in Listers POV that we get a hint that Rowan might have some legitimate mental health issues that he hasn't yet come to terms with. This is big because there is a suggestion, that Rowan and Lister minimise their own issues to help Jimmy with his. But this results in Jimmy having a blind spot that the two of them dont have with each other. Also Rowan knew about Listers crush on Jimmy first. Jimmy wouldn't know some of these things cause Jimmy was not a part of these conversations or revelations. Case in point when Rowan reminisces about how during a sleepover when they were kids Jimmy fell asleep first and he and Lister stayed up watching videos and giggling together. Jimmy wouldnt know about these moments cause he isn't part of them. And its clear Rowan and Lister love each other they say it outright in Ghosted. And his own dynamic with them would shield him from some of these things.

Throughout Ghosted the pattern seems to be that Lister and Rowan start bickering, then have some moments of insight but before they can really pursue it, work interrupts. Lister mentions in Ghosted that Cecily cares about them but doesn't really show it and perhaps once she leaves the big label to become their manager exclusively, she may be able to form a more close relationship with them, maybe not, it's up to her but she will be less pressured by the labels to keep them at arms length

One thing I saw a lot was people critiquing Rowan for not taking Listers predicament seriously enough when they were searching for him in the woods. But some things to keep in mind are that he and Lister had a relatively nice night together chatting, that he only saw the beginning of Listers drunken binge and that he was not present for Jimmy and Listers talk where Lister admitted the Jowan photo was his fault and was in a really bad headspace. Also Jimmy does tend to catastrophise, it just so happens in this scenario that he was right. I think for Rowan he was also slightly in denial the same way he is for his own mental issues and the way he brushed off his own assault by a fan that he didn't realise how serious it was until they found Lister in the stream and was in part convincing himself that Lister was okay because he needed to believe that too.

I imagine if there is a sequel, this might haunt him. But I don't think he should be criticized for not taking the search as seriously as Jimmy initially did because he didn't have the same warning signs.

Rowan says in Ghosted that he has to be the responsible one and it's sort of true, he feels pressured by society to embody Black excellence while having to wrangle his wayward friends. And it's cost him alot, he lost Bliss and he was assaulted by a fan. He even finds he's very pleased to be comforted by Lister since its so rare and one imagines hes really needed it. He's at the end of his rope, he snarls at Lister and Jimmy, Jimmy snarls back and Lister just walks away to drink. The embodiment of this is near the end of the book when Rowan and Jimmy get into a screaming match and Lister surprises them both by shouting at them to stop fighting then wanders off to drink. The issue is that while Jimmy and Lister tell the audience and openly demonstrate that they are not doing well. Rowan insists through gritted teeth that he's fine but he is obviously not. I also think that's why Lister seems to cut him some slack, when Rowan yells at Jimmy, Jimmy yells right back and they hit low, cause friendship is beautiful but it's also ugly when you know the other person so well you can hit em where it hurts. But even when Rowan snaps at Lister with admittedly low blows, Lister doesn't retaliate, he laughs or leaves. But I think it's cause Lister can see Rowans 'fucked up too' and in a rare moment of acting his age (he's the eldest of the trio) and emotional insight and intelligence, he allows Rowan to throw a snit without escalating, he let's the kids (Jimmy and Rowan) fight it out, to an extent he still ends their fights if it gets to far both in Meeting Lister and in IWBFT, on the flip side he also may not feel secure enough with them to hit as low as they do and all of these things can be true at once.

What is excellent about these three is that that they feel real. They can be self absorbed, selfless, hurt, strong, mean and sweet by turns to each other and this is so legitimate in friend dynamics.

The Ghosted POV also reveals that Lister did not realise that he was the source of the Jowan photo until the day he confessed it to Jimmy. At first I had wondered how long he knew and kept it to himself but Ghosted shows that he figured it out at Pieros and confessed that very day. Because he never thinks about it in Ghosted and he would have as he confessed to Rowan about the bathroom kiss.

Lister says that he took the photo in a low moment of loneliness and drunkenly sent it to some friends and that one of then leaked it. But he didn't recall that the photo was originally from him until he was scrolling through his old photos.

The sad thing about Lister is that one of the reasons he drinks, other than to not have to think about his past trauma (sexual assault, bullying, poverty) is to numb the guilt he feels over some of his irresponsible actions (the suitcase photo) and that same drunkenness leads to more irresponsible actions (ex: taking the jowan photo and forgetting about it leading him to joke about stalkers that cranks up Jimmy's anxiety and makes him feel unsafe in his own home) which leads to Lister drinking more in a vicious cycle, leading him to jeopardize his friendship with Jimmy and Rowan as he fails to hold their trust.

What's huge for all of their growth is at the end where they decide to put themselves first over their jobs. It's big for Rowan who was made to undermine his own and his friends traumas in order to get the job done

Going from: " I'm sure being seen as a sex object is quite irritating, but we all have shit to deal with in this game" (the use of the term game has so many layers to unpack) and telling a stylist to cover his brick wound with makeup "You can put makeup on it; it doesn't hurt that much" (like honey no let it heal, take time off oh my god). To "‘No more of this … being pressured to do things. Being manipulated and forced to act in a certain way. We need to stand up for what we want. What we all want. The new contract can literally go and fuck itself.’ ‘Yeah,’ murmurs Rowan" like this is what they need. Keep in mind both Lister and Rowan saw Jimmy unraveling and still went on with work, Jimmy and Rowan both knew for a while that Lister has a drinking problem and still went on with work. Rowan even says in Ghosted that he and Jimmy need to talk to Lister about his alcohol issues before he ends up in the hospital but it'll have to wait until they sort out Jimmy, the irony. Throwing work away to look after themselves is what they all NEED and sadly it came from hitting rock bottom (for Lister literally).

If there is a sequel I look forward to seeing how their relationship will evolve now that they can refocus on their friendship without work getting in their way.

Lupin is easily the one she talks to the most outside of Jigen. She's known him the longest, having first met him at the same time she reunited with her brother, and he did help save her life back then, so he's the one she's most comfortable with. Plus, since he a) is close with Jigen and b) was involved in her kidnapping and rescue, she doesn't feel the need to be as secretive as she usually is and is able to be more open with him than most other people.

He comes around fairly often--sometimes with Jigen, sometimes without--and most of the time they have a couple of drinks and joke around, talk about life, shit like that.

He still tries to flirt with her because of course he does, he's Lupin, but weirdly enough he's more reserved and gentlemanly with her, especially when Jigen isn't around. When he is, Lupin likes to see how far he can push it before he is threatened with bodily harm. He usually get's shut down pretty quick, but whether they admit it or not they all know it's all in good fun.

tl;dr they get along pretty well! Lupin's definitely one of Aiko's closer friends both in and outside of the gang.

Goemon doesn't talk to her nearly as often as Lupin and Jigen. They've only met a handful of times, really. Having come around later than everyone else, he's a little behind on Aiko and her whole deal, so he's usually pretty quiet around her (though her being an attractive young woman who also happens to be his friend's sister doesn't help with that, either).

While they haven't spoken much, she seems to like him a lot. He's quiet and polite, which is a nice change of pace from how rowdy the rest of her boys seem to be. She still loves them, obviously, but it's nice to have someone a little less chaotic around for a change. Even if he is a modern day samurai carrying around a sword.

Truthfully he doesn't feel much different about her, though she does tend to be a little more boisterous than he is, especially when she's around people she's comfortable with (i.e. Lupin and/or Jigen) and double especially after she's had a few drinks. Still, she seems nice.

tl;dr they don't talk to each other very often but they like each other well enough.

Unfortunately there's not a whole lot to say about Fujiko or Zenigata since Aiko's never actually met either of them, only knowing about them from secondhand accounts courtesy of Lupin and Jigen. As far as she knows Fujiko's either an absolute bitch or a goddess who can do nothing wrong and Zenigata is the guy trying to put her brother and their mutual friend in jail. I imagine if they ever did meet Aiko would just be kinda wary around both of them. I can see her maybe warming up to them a little bit (more so Zenigata than Fujiko, though) but never enough to drop her guard around them, really.

I also feel the need to mention that because of a typo my friends and I now joke about Aiko being like, super down bad for Zenigata. Do what you will with this information.

Also he probably doesn't count but I briefly mentioned him in The Aible and also just want to talk about him a little bit but Dynamite Joe! He's a guy! Who may or may not have had sexual relations with her brother! Fun!

Basically Jigen set up Joe as Aiko's emergency contact because lord knows he's a hard man to reach and the list of people he trusts, especially with his sister, is like, microscopic. Joe was his only real option outside of the gang. She didn't really like talking to him at first since he was loud and scary and kinda gross but after a while they warmed up to each other and surprisingly ended up becoming pretty good friends and Jigen absolutely hates it.

Just how he is I'm afraid

Super emo deep please read caption a bit i beg please :) ?

Slight TW: mentions of abuse and blood (no graphic detail or anything)

So some of this has like- personal meaning which I won't get super into but I was fairly proud of the idea.

I also use "he" alot. Anyone can be an abuser. But i imagine this wolf and buck to both be males. And my situation was between two males so yk. But of course a man can abuse a woman, a woman can abuse a man. Non-binary can abuse men ect. Abuse isn't defined to a gender. Just thought i should make that clear.

For context- canines will do something I think people call "muzzling" where they bite eachothers muzzle. They may yelp, or growl and snarl while they do it and it's often between pups/cubs.

This is a play on that being that the wolf does not know any better, this is how he was brought up. Of course, the deer knowing this is how he shows his love, but quite clearly it's hurting him. Still he doesn't look phased or in pain. He just takes it.

The take on this is basically emotional abuse/manipulation. I am a believer that many abusers are like this because they've suffered abuse themself. The wolf having only known this as a sign of friendliness does it to show his love. This could be someone constantly venting, maybe they take their anger out on a loved one because they TRUST them. Maybe they became their "favourite person" of sorts. Maybe it can even get physical. Lots of different forms.

The tie is that the wolf is biting down on the deer in what would be considered a friendly way how he was brought up. But it's not a friendly way. He has drawn blood and it hurting the deer, maybe he doesn't realise it. The deer, knowing his worth to the other person is not turning away. He is just taking it.

For me in my situation. This was'

*verbal/emotional abuse/ manipulation/dumping his issues onto me as a literal child ect. (He had no friends LMAO)*

*me "just taking" it so it doesn't get worse"

The deer "just takes" the bite.

If the deer tried to break away, the wolf will surely bite down harder and the deers pulling will make the wound deeper. So the deer has no choice but to just take it.

If you look closely there are darker spots on the wolfs muzzle where the wolf may have also been bitten.

The real sad part is the abuser ("the wolf") in this situation will probably never change. Especially if they're older. They just are that way. It's the only way they've ever known.

Of course experiences are different for everyone.

Summery:

The wolf bites as a sign of love. This is the only love he has ever known.

But this is not love. The deer is hurt, still the deer takes it because if it tries to pull the wolf will bite down harder, making the wound deeper.

Emotional abuse CAN be built from an unhealthy attachment. But when the person starts pulling away, the "wolf" will only dig deeper, desperate for them to stay, perhaps not realising or not accepting what they've done despite being told many many times.

ALSO WHEN YOU'VE BEEN TELLING SOMEONE ABOUT HOW YOU MISS THEM BUT THEY SHOULDN'T (a whole other kettle of fish) AND THEY GO "Thats just how he is" OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES. LIKE YEAH?? I WAS THERE?

Every since i was younger i loved to draw animals, my "wolf" would often watch over me. Infact one of my first good tonal drawings was of a wolf, he saw it and said it was amazing.

Now adays aswell as just drawing animals because they're fun, I'll draw them with kind of hidden meanings and interpretations, like this one, usually i keep them secret my for me i like to see people online with like- similar experiences or interpretations to experiences? So maybe someone can relate?

Also, the flowers at the bottom each have meaning aswell as some of them just being a bit personal to me. But if you want to look them up the flowers are:

No matter what someone has been through it DOES NOT excuse abuse. You are not responsible for that, you are a victim of it. And all i can say it leave, don't even stay in contact, leave. I tried to have a foot in both worlds by leaving but staying in contact and trying to sway him in the right direction. It was draining, and every time i took a step forward with him i was thrown 100ft back and I was always the one in tears.

It's a brave thing to leave. It's scary. But it's brave. You prioritise you. You love you. And find someone who loves you the way you need to be loves.

Some of these may, admittedly, be a bit more self-indulgent than others, but Heist!Mark headcanons? I've been holding onto these for a WHILE.

General

He is somehow both one of the smartest men in an almost intimidating sense, but he's also so stupid; I say this with every ounce of affection in my heart. He can come up with the most complicated plans for heists and blueprint just about anything to a T, but he'll also pick the worst entrance and exit in terms of stealth. He's a known wordsmith who can use his charisma to get out of a good handful of scraps, but the second he gets asked a question he didn't expect he'll freeze for too long. He can technically make his own gear, but good luck knowing for sure if all of it's functional or safe. He can hotwire just about anything, but that doesn't guarantee he knows how to use it…

He has a lot of different scars from various heist mishaps, some of them ranging from "tried to fix the engine while the car was still running and burned himself", "fucked up using the grappling gun once and it came back down and hit him", "got hit by a laser trap", and "accidentally hurt himself cooking".

Speaking of cooking, he's got a big knack for breakfast foods; anything he can make quick, really, but especially that kind of food. Don't ask him to make coffee though, his coffee's awful and he knows it.

He's a bit more musical than one might think; he hums a lot to himself if he's lost in thought or trying to steady his thoughts, but if he's feeling especially bold sometimes he'll whistle in the middle of a goddamn heist while he's making an escape.

He has a big soft spot for dogs, and dogs have a big soft spot for him in return. "The ol' steak trick" is commonplace for him because he likes to feed any dogs he happens to come across. He almost hates that he has to ignore them, but he also knows that if he let himself be more affectionate with them, he'd be caught.

Trust is a big thing for him. Like, big. He has to be careful in his craft, he has to be cunning, he has to be quick, he has to be cold; anyone could be looking to turn him in, anyone could be looking to use his trust for their own gain and leave him once they've got what they want. He keeps strong walls, he keeps running…if he stops, if he lets himself truly show, it could mean the end of it all.

And then you come in.

You meet him when you're both after the same thing. You're so caught up in the light banter that sparks from this discovery that you almost miss the fact that there are guards after you. He almost thinks you're going to leave him to be caught, only for you to somehow find a way to distract the guards for long enough to give him the chance to escape. So caught in the shock of you letting him go, he almost misses the fact that you've taken off with what he was after in the first place. A respectful kind of rivalry buds here.

And it keeps going: you keep running into each other, you keep helping each other, so much so that after a while you finally properly introduce yourself to him: you give him your name, and you tell him what introduced you to the craft. At some point along the line, you're working for each other so often that your respectful rivalry based alliance becomes one of a proper partnership.

When he realizes he trusts you--fully trusts you--he's terrified in the beginning. You have more of him than he's ever given anyone, you have seen more of him--more of him--than he's ever given anyone else permission to…and yet in turn, you only give him more of yourself. Whether he would want you to or not, you would catch him if he fell; you wouldn't let go. (Somewhere along the line, he finally trusts himself enough to say that he hopes you never do.)

+ a handful of brief relationship headcanons (Originally I had a few more suggestive additions, but I didn't want this ask to get too much longer)

Most mornings are often spent cooking with you, peppering you in small bits of affection while you talk about plans for the upcoming week.

Nicknames started off as a playfully teasing thing on both of your ends ("Don't miss me too much, sweetheart." "Alright then, honey, what do you think we should do?"), but somewhere along the line it somehow became…not that. Or at the very least, less of that. (Perhaps now, teasing more in the sense where one purrs terms of endearment in the other's ear as they pass by, knowing full well that they need to keep themselves focused)

In the instances where both of you allow yourselves to rest together (Often one of you is on watch duty after another heist escape), you most often find your head pressed against his chest as he holds you.

His kisses are either the briefest kind of teasing pecks, or the hungry kind of kisses that linger, that plead for more.

Sometimes if you find yourselves having to keep hidden in the middle of a heist, he'll press the most teasing kisses along your neck and jaw, and you can feel the rumble of his laugh when he whispers that you'll have to keep quiet…if things don't escalate right then and there, you can bet things get heated once you make it back to base.

If you kiss some of the scars scattered along his back and chest, he will melt into your touch no matter what.

Just thinking about Eddie and Shannon and how much Eddie has changed not just in his openness but like - he's so sassy. Sipping his coffee from the sidelines. And we've known him for a while now. That wasn't always there. So I'm just thinking about how you're different sides of yourself with different people and while Eddie may have technically been being himself with people, there were also parts of him that just naturally got buried from having a lack of safe spaces to be those sides of himself. The side that likes gossip and telenovelas, for example.

And I think Eddie and Shannon probably fell in love because they got along really well. That dad jokes side of him, maybe. Based on the fact that Eddie was already serving when Christopher was born at when he was 23, he probably enrolled at 18, making them more likely than not, high school sweethearts - so it should also be noted that Eddie wasn't even out of the house when they met. And being still under his father's roof I'm sure affected how he presented himself.

So I think that they got along really well and, just thinking about his youth in proximity to his father, that can seem surface level but think of how BIG OF A DEAL it must have been for him to find someone to just relax with. To go out to dinner and joke with. And, knowing Eddie's mind, he likely wasn't envisioning/even able to envision anything better for himself. Because the best you've ever had will often seem like the best you ever will until you find something better.

They seem to me like a typical case of high school sweetheart-type who loved spending time with each other ("I haven't spent this much time with a woman since Shannon") who couldn't imagine anything better because they hadn't had it, rushed into things ("I wasn't ready to get married. I wasn't ready to have Christopher."), and found that they were unprepared to face adult life - financial struggles, work hours, tough choices and prioritizations.

I think they were probably one of those couples who loved each other and loved spending time with each other but tied the knot before they had had any real issues - maybe thinking that meant they wouldn't - and so didn't know that they didn't have the stability to handle them.

We know that Buddie have a basis, THEY know that they have a basis, because they have had the experience of needing to be support systems for each other. FULL supporting partners. In times of NEED. I don't think that Shannon and Eddie had that. I'm sure Shannon backed him up with his parents and he supported her when she was worried about her mom but other than that, it is actually canon that they are not good at communicating and working out their needs. Shannon even says that all she wanted was support.

In conclusion, their marriage can generally be attributed to being people who got along with each other better than anyone else that didn't have many problems early on and didn't have much foresight or future planning.

I just started thinking about this because of how much Eddie has changed individually - and inevitably so. In falling in love with each other as teenagers, especially with what we know about Eddie's repression, they fell in love with inevitably temporary versions of each other.

That's also why it makes so much sense to me for Buck and Eddie to fall in love after meeting at 26/30. They've still got a ways to go, as we've seen, but the brain develops until 24/25. And even if only in Buck knowing that he's a firefighter at heart or only Eddie knowing that he is Christopher's before anything, they have enough of a basis to be able to actually for those types of relationships with other people.

(note: I'm not saying high school sweethearts can't work out just that I don't think these two were their own people enough at that age.)

random thoughts (GETS LONG) but I've never developed what Mac Opsys and Frost would think of each other, considering that Frost was originally built by Brian (There was a 0.5 second of them not going after his neck)

They canonically (Like, our Frostbite Cogs Only canon) break reality and chill outside the game's bounds, like the game mechanics like that are canon for them which is also how HR got yeeted out (Being non canon breaking reality all that shit sadly I haven't read that dialogue in a bit + wasn't there for it) (Was asleep or at school)

And just that Mac like... Hacks and monitors stuff and is like The Tech Of The Toons

Like he absolutely knows Frost (and Spam by extension) are actually Cogs and he's probably even seen them being built and psobably has access to some of the files that were used to make them from Brian's computers

So Frost would absolutely be reported and be a known threat (They both are and aren't. They do legit harm and no good but also most of the time they're all bark no bite, it depends who you are) but for the sake of the funnies Frost does have Some Sort Of Plot Armor

But also, aside from me playing the game, in lore Frost basically never interacts with Toon Resistance stuff and the tasks and such anymore - they chill with their Toon friends and the Cogs and sort of just cause havoc as they do - they just do whatever they want really

Again at first they were scared, but realizing some Cogs know they're a Cog who was built to look like a Toon and don't attack them on sight for it - like they've got people behind their back and they sorta abuse that ajfjty

They stopped caring about hiding how they're a Cog and now to follow my current progress in the game just go raid the bosses for fun (though standing more on the side when going to a VP fight) and managers for a hang out or just... Argument or fight or whatever whenever I fight those. Otherwise they just stick with the Cogs and just... They're very very careless and everyone knows they're a Cog

Hell they LOVE attention and absolutely have a good bit of an ego and appearing on a whole show PROUDLY and SCARING TOONS PROUDLY literally ON PURPOSE making themselves known as like. A feared trickster just to boost their ego and confidence more

They're a little mother fucker but in a fun way because a lot of the times their attempts at Being Cool Or Menacing just Fucking Fail but they don't acknowledge it because That's Not Swag To Do.

So like clearly everyone knows but nobody has done anything yet shfhfjfj. I still gotta think if I ever do a more serious story with them or just... More concepts like that (still Toony silly tho) if they get affected by this more because they're just causing havoc with no restraint aside from them just. Failing often they're too overconfident and brash to be careful and just fuck things up goofily is what keeps them at bay

Though that isn't all there is to them - they still care about people and do know Rarely when to cool it down though even then they may joke (And possibly take it too far? One thing to know with Frost is to rarely take them seriously at a time like that, and just understand the sentiment they mean deep down) And often what they do they see as funny and one way they like making others around them happy is... Just by being an entertainer basically. Hell they're a co-host on a show

Basically Frost Is A Weirdo and THEY'RE VERY FUN and shouldn't be taken too seriously because them not being noticed by Toons is a big plot hole though I imagine some Toons just. Know. But they're just like. Okay they blow up buildings for fun and chase people and bite them (no serious injuries) but this is funny to watch. But also Toons do care about each other so they may to try and stop Frost sometime

I think the being gang piled on would just make them run off like OH THIS ISN'T THE END OF IT ALL... I'LL GET YOU. I'LL COME BACK. OHHHH and like go complain at sellbot hq and that's it (Though also many Toons are Scared because Frost Does Want People To Be Scared It's Funny For Them. BUT there's brave Toons out there!)

Another thing to be developed more is the family dynamic - it's very personal comfort based even if I do like thinking about the depth Cathal and Allan have and my thoughts about it... Some projection and oh GOD THAT OLD COMIC I NEVER FINISHED (glad I didn't some of my thoughts changed) but this stuff is a bit just... Disconnected from canon reality where things are a bit more idealized for funsies - like. Let's be honest Allan probably wouldn't adopt a toon cog his employee built because they're friends with his son and are helping him through his mental health and motivation issues. It'd take waayyy more time than it did in the story and no actual adoption would probably happen but then again there was never an actual adoption it was just. Being accepted into the family progressively. But like yeah still frost and spam don't even work normally for COGS INC - like they both work FOR employees of Cogs INC. LOOKS AT FROST'S GOOFY LIST OF JOBS

(Their main thing is working with High Roller as a show co-host plus some stage set up stuff and all that - Spam helps with it backstage. For Pace they do some of his paperwork Pace Place desk when they want to, but really they only took the job because their club leader is dating Graham + the club HQ is there. They also keep their closet of belongings there. They basically never actually do work there. Graham keeps them there because of Molly and because the two are highly competitive and wanna keep one upping each other in things. For Cosmo they work only so they don't have to pay off their massive tab. What they do is just go around and intimidate people into paying Cosmo. They call it being a hit man but all they do is just scare someone.)

So like?? It's again the fact that no matter what Frost is an absolute outlier. They look like a Toon, but have Cog insides. They're too toony for most Cogs, but too Coggy and mean for Toons. And that's honestly their whole character? They don't like rules and they like breaking them and doing whatever they want. That how they came to be - made to follow orders but they got corrupted and do the opposite. (Also one of the reasons why HR likes them, I imagine she's quite fascinated by Toons. He doesn't also like predictability and the more out there and fun and risky a thing is the more he likes it.

Frostbite at first glance is a Toon, and an extra wacky, loud and impulsive one at that - then you see it's a Cog and wonder how a Cog is just... This way. In a way them looking like a Toon and the show bringing both Toons and Cogs together is like. Almost symbolic. Of what? Who knows. Anyways HR saw Frost and thought 'I need to know more about whatever that is'.)

It's not a perfect story and again it cannot be taken too seriously and there's a lot of issues even I have with it but seeing as this is for fun and several things are there for comfort or just self indulgence it's just fine as it is like why bother with all detailed stuff when my result is just to goof off and have fun with scenarios with my friends? I can go into more serious detail whenever I decide to write something more serious, y'know ?

(Also side note ain't no way Allan accepting HIGH ROLLER into the extended family 😭😭😭😭😭) (Though Allan is the friendliest boss and HR is Marketable As Hell) (Chris can I borrow your employee 😭😭😭)

OK but again BACK TO WHERE WE STARTED. I need to see Mac Opsys and Frost dynamic someday there's a potential to be funny because on one hand Mac wants to stop stuff like this from happening he wants good for Toontown but also MUTUAL BRIAN BEEF

(Random thought, Frost always boasts about having many enemies but it's usually random on Le off Cogs and a few of the mgrs. Bostly Ben and Brian and like. Robert. In reality they're either friendly or neutral with most Cogs. They may be neutral but the other party doesn't like them as much, like with Thomas. Though a lot of these friendships are... Shallow and undeveloped and just there because they ARE a self insert and I'd like to be friends with certain characters. But no way in hell they'd get along with Misty oh my god they'd scare her probably. But also Frost isn't dumb and can see people who are distressed and as stated before they do tend to be calmer around like, Cathal and such.)

Ooh, yeah!! I love imagining a dynamic for them because their interaction is SO brief but I adore the thought of Louis bonding (trying to bond) with his mother-in-law

When they first meet, Gabrielle almost loses her mind because "Lestat, this is Nicki. This is literally Nicolas." (She does later, secretly and begrudgingly, realize she may have been unfair in writing Louis off as Nicki 2.0)

Louis REALLY wants to call her "madame" because he's terrified of her and his manners demand it, but she absolutely will not allow it. She likes that he's scared of her though. As it should be

She's pretty torn between being mad at Louis for setting her son on fire on principle but also figuring it was probably at least somewhat fair. She does think it's funny to bring it up in front of Louis because he looks like he's going to pass out every time

Both of them take approximately a century to warm up to new people, but once they stop staring at each other from across the room like tense cats they're able to bond really well over books. Lestat literally could not have chosen two people who are more neurotic and aloof, but they get there

(To give her silent approval, Gabrielle gifts Louis copies of a few of her favorite books)

Even after they get start getting along well, it's hard for her to trust Louis. Gabrielle knows her son. She sees how absolutely head over heels he is and knows that if things go sour again or if Louis leaves, he'll absolutely lose it. She doesn't like how much influence one person (one with a not awesome history with Lestat) has over her kiddo

They only talk about it once, and only briefly, but they're able to find some common ground in their shared guilt over Lestat. Both of them had to face some hard truths about the damage they did when they read TVL, and they have a mutual understanding. They can't really hate each other for hurting Lestat because they hurt him themselves too

The two of them are very different people so they're never best friends, but Gabrielle ends up liking Louis a lot more than she ever thought she would. She thinks he's kind of a pansy, but he's smart and polite and he loves her son. He's also just crazy enough to gain her respect. Arson isn't her choice of felony, but she admires it

That's not to say they never spend time together, and she even lets Louis take a turn dancing with her on occasion. They've been known to hunt together once in a while or commiserate about a certain blonde menace (Gabs loves her son, but she doesn't envy Louis). Mostly they talk about books though, everything from analyzing one they've both read or exchanging recommendations

Gabrielle never got to meet Claudia and she has mixed feelings for obvious reasons, but more than once she's gone to Louis to hear stories about her granddaughter. She can't bring herself to ask Lestat and Louis understands. He doesn't ask why she's coming to him instead of Lestat, he just tells his stories and answers her questions. Then she nods and leaves

Lestat, for his part, is absolutely thrilled that they like each other. Both Louis and Gabrielle find it extremely endearing how much Lestat loves spending time with the two of them together. Neither are thrilled about all the outings and group activities, but he's just so enthusiastic and they still feel guilty, so Lestat gets what he wants. Family shopping trip it is

Lestat isn't thrilled that they're in cahoots against him when they deem it necessary (they often do), but it's well worth it to have his two favorite people in his life

Potential

Logan had been a scholar when they met. A studious man. A little serious, but kind hearted. He meant well. He spent hours each day in his study, creating meticulous notes and drawing diagrams. When he ran out of room or places to store his findings, he'd bind them in a book.

And Logan had many of these books. Books in general, really. And scrolls. No bookcase could ever hold the amount he had.

He wanted to share his findings with his peers, but none would heed him. He wasn't of noble blood like the rest of them, and as such his word meant little. Which was rather unfortunate, for he had much to say.

He'd often ramble to himself as the sun settled on the horizon. He'd talk as though he weren't alone, as if he were having a chat with a friend. It helped him think, get the gears going. Made issues easier to spot.

And during one of these times, unbeknownst to himself, he'd gave the audience he so desperately craved.

Patton wasn't normally inclined to set foot in a mortal's home without their knowledge. But this was different. And, as he sat in the window, one could argue that he had yet to step into the dark haired man's study.

He had seen Logan around while he did his usual work. Saw how he was so blatantly ignored. And that didn't sit right with him. This man was clearly passionate about his studies. He had every right to speak and be heard.

And Patton would listen to him, each night for the past... oh he didn't even know how long. He figured it was time he made himself known.

"You make a lot of points." He spoke up from behind him, a deep laugh echoing through Logan's home when the spooked scholar jumped. "Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you."

Logan is staring right at this... this-no, no this was no man. Not with that ethereal glow about him.

"May I come in?" Ah, yes. He was sitting in his window, one leg bent with his elbow resting on it, and his other hovering just an inch above the floor. He had one arm keeping himself steady and braced-but after Logan gave a nod(because what else was he meant to do?)all he could focus on was the fluid movement of the god's robes when he stepped inside.

Logan finds his voice, "What... what can I do for you?" He asks the god, watching him move about his study with quiet interest. But his words seem to surprise him.

"What can you do for me? I've been around for thousands of years and you're the first to ask me that." He smiles, and Logan finds himself melting at the dimples.

This god was quite handsome. And the face was familiar-Patton. This was Patton. But-what did a fertility god want with him? He dealt with judgment as well-but surely Logan hadn't done anything to call for divine intervention. He's thinking all of this, but he's also thinking about how none of the depictions of Patton have gotten the freckles right.

"I have a feeling, tell me if I'm right." Patton moves closer, walking slowly around Logan. "I believe... you wish to improve the lives of those around you. To make things more..." he feels as though he's being appraised. "Efficient. Is that right?"

He nods, leaning against his desk. If only to keep himself steady.

Patton's lips twitch, "Use your words, you were given a voice for a reason." He chuckles.

"I-yes, but..."

"But the people won't hear you. I noticed. Must admit I've been watching you for while. Unfortunately, I can't do much in way of making them listen... but, I have a proposal."

Logan knew all too well that mortal dealings with gods could go many ways-and they weren't always good. "And that would be..."

"Take my hand, and become a god. You could do so much more with time and eternity at your fingertips."

Logan stood, slack jawed. "I... a mortal cannot just-godhood is for-for legends! Heroes! Those who have faced countless trials and I-I am but a scholar. I've done nothing special. "

"You are so much more. I see great potential in you, Logan. Heroes become gods because of the good they've done, but you? You can become a god to do the good."

This was a lot for Logan to wrap his head around. "I... may I think it over?" What if this was a dream? Yes. He's asleep at his desk again.

Patton smiles, "Of course. It's a big decision after all." He stands before him, "But I don't believe in parting without leaving a gift, so..." he thinks for a moment, fingers tapping along his chin. "Ah, I know." He snaps his fingers, and a basket of fresh fruit has appeared on Logan's desk. "I'm a little limited on what I can create," he tells him, taking a grape from the basket. "But I've been told my fruits are quite exceptional."

Logan should not be staring at the god's soft, sweet lips as he raises the grape to it.

"Ah, where are my manners?" Patton's laughter will not be leaving Logan's mind anytime soon. The god offers Logan the grape, the same one that had just brushed his own lips but moments before. The scholar would have normally been repulsed, but he finds himself accepting this treat. It's... exceptionally sweet. But he can't quite focus on the taste when Patton's fingers ghost his bottom lip.

"I do hope you accept my offer, Logan." Patton smiles, gone by the next blink.

Logan stands in his office, hand to his mouth. Did... did he just have an indirect kiss with the god of fertility?

His thoughts are interrupted by a gentle breeze, reminding him that his window is open. And with the wind he can still hear the god's voice. "Sleep well, Logan."

My Top Ten Overlooked Movies With Female Leads In No Particular Order

Note: When you see this emoji (⚠️) I will be talking about things people may find triggering, which are spoilery more often then not. I mention things that I think may count as triggers so that people with them will be aware before going in to watch any of these.

Hanna (2011)

So, before I get into why you should watch this movie, I just want to take a moment to say why it's near and dear to my heart. Growing up as a queer kid in the early 2000s, seeing portrayals of people like or similar to myself on anything was rare at best. It was mostly in more "adult" movies or shows that my parents would occasionally let me watch with them that I'd see any lgbtq+ rep at all. Often times they were either walking stereotypes, designed to be buried, evil, or all three.

Then here comes this PG-13 action thriller with a wonderfully written main female lead who, at the time, was close to my age, and who got to kiss another girl (her very first friend, Sophie) on screen in an extremely tender and heartwarming scene. To say the least, it was a life changing moment for me personally.

Now that I've gotten that out of the way, Hanna is a suspenseful movie about a child super-soldier named, you guessed it, Hanna (played by Saoirse Ronan) and her adoptive (?) father Erik Heller (played by Eric Bana) exiting the snowy and isolated wilderness of their home and taking on the shadowy CIA operative, Marissa Wiegler (played by Cate Blanchette) who wants Erik dead and Hanna for herself for mysterious reasons.

It also has an amazing soundtrack by the Chemical Brothers, great action scenes, and it has an over arching fairytale motif, which I'm always a sucker for.

⚠️ Mild blood effects, some painful looking strikes, various character deaths, and child endangerment all feature in this film. However, given its PG-13 rating, a majority of viewers are presumably able to handle this one. Still, be aware of these going in.

Sidenote: It's recently gotten a TV adaptation on Amazon TV, although I have not watched it, and do not know if Hanna and Sophie's romantic/semi-romantic relationship has transferred over.

A Simple Favor

A Simple Favor is a "black-comedy mystery thriller" centered entirely around the relationship between two mothers, the reclusive, rich, mysterious, and regal Emily (played by Blake Lively), and the local recently widowed but plucky mommy blogger, Stephanie (played by Anna Kendrick). When Emily suddenly goes missing, Stephanie takes it upon herself to find out what happened to her new best friend.

It's a fantastic and entertaining movie throughout, with fun, flawed and interesting characters. The relationship between the two female leads is also implied to be at least somewhat romantic in nature, and they even share a kiss.

⚠️ The only major warnings I can think of is that the movie contains an instance of incest and one of the main plotlines revolves around child abuse, although both of these potentially triggering topics are not connected to each other, so there is thankfully no csa going on.

Edit: I legitimately forgot there was drug use in this movie until now. So, yeah, if that's a trigger, be careful of that.

I Am Mother

I became mildly obsessed with this movie when it came out. I Am Mother is a sci-fi film that centers entirely around a cast of two woman, and a female-adjacent robot who is brought to life on screen with absolutely amazing practical effects.

The plot is such, after an extinction-level event, a lone robot known only as Mother tasks herself with replenishing the human race via artifical means. She begins with the film's main protagonist, Daughter. Years go by as Mother raises her human child and the two prepare for Daughter's first sibling (a brother) to be born. However, on Daughter's 16th birthday, the arrival of an outsider known only as Woman shakes Daughter's entire world view. She begins to question Mother's very nature, as well as what's really going on outside the bunker she and her caretaker call home.

⚠️ This movie features child endangerment and reference to child death.

Lilo and Stitch

When I decided to add a single Disney film to this list I initially thought it was going to be hard but almost immediately my brain went to Lilo and Stitch, and specifically about the relationship between Lilo and Nani.

On the surface, this film is about a lonely little girl accidentally adopting a fugitive alien creature as a "dog," but underneath that the story is also about two orphaned sisters and the older sister's attempts to not let social services tear them apart by stepping up as the younger sister's primary guardian. Despite its seemingly goofy premise, Lilo and Stitch has a very emotional and thoughtful center. It's little wonder how this movie managed to spawn an entire franchise.

Despite the franchise it spawned (or possibly because of it), I often find that Lilo and Stitch is overlooked and many people only remember it for the "little girl adopts an alien as a pet" portion of its plot, and I very rarely see it on people's top 10 Disney lists.

⚠️ This movie could be potentially triggering to people who were separated from their siblings or other family members due to social service intervention. There's also a bit of child endangerment, including a scene where Lilo and Stitch both almost drown.

Nausicaä and the Valley of the Wind

Unlike the above entry, I did struggle a little bit with picking a single Studio Ghibli film. Most media of the Ghibli catalogue have strong, well-written, unique, and interesting female leads so selecting just one seemed like quite the task.

However, I eventually settled on this particular film. In recent months, Princess Nausicaä has become my absolute favorite Ghibli protagonist and I'm absolutely enchanted by the world she lives in.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world overun by giant insects and under threat of a toxic forest and its poisoness spores, Nausicaä must try to protect the Valley of the Wind from invaders as she also tries to understand the science behind the toxic forest and attempts to bridge the gap between the insects and the humans.

For those who have never seen the film, I think Nausicaä's personality can best be described as being similar to OT Luke Skywalker. Both are caring, compassionate, and gentle souls who are able to see the best in nearly anyone or anything. She's an absolutely enthralling protagonist and after rewatching the film again for the first time in well over a decade she has easily become one of my all time favorite protagonists.

Whenever I see people talk about Ghibli films, they rarely mention this one, and when they do mention it, it's often in passing. In my opinion it's a must watch.

⚠️ This movie contains some blood, and the folks who either don't like insects or who have entomophobia may not appreciate the giant bugs running about throughout the movie. (Although most insects do not directly relate to real life bugs, and are fantasy creatures).

A Silent Voice

A Silent Voice is an animated movie adaptation of a manga of the same name. While I've never had the pleasure to read the manga, the movie is phenomenal. It covers topics such a bullying, living in the world with a disability, the desire for atonement, social anxiety, and depression in a well thought out manner that ties itself together through the progression of the relationship between its two leads, Shoya and Shouko. It's also beautifully animated. Although very popular among anime viewers, I've noticed that it's often overlooked by people who watch little to no anime. So I suppose this is me urging non-anime viewers to give this film a chance.

⚠️ As mentioned above, the movie deals with bullying, anxiety, and depression (with this last one including suicidal thoughts and behaviour). If discussion of those topics are triggering to you, than you may want to proceed with caution or skip this movie all together.

In This Corner of The World

Another manga adaptation, this one taking place during WWII-era Japan. In This Corner of The World follows the life of a civilian Japanese woman, Suzu Urano, as she navigates simply living and her new marriage as the wartime invades nearly all aspects of everyday life. I think this movie is a good representation of what it must be like to be living as civilian in a country at war where the fight is sometimes fought on one's own soil. It was also an interesting look into pre-50s Japanese culture in my opinion. It's also beautifully animated featuring an art style I don't see often.

Despite it being well known among anime fans, I never really see it be brought up, even among said anime fans themselves.

Side note: I've seen many WWII dramas centering around civilians but they've almost always been about American or UK civilians. This was the first movie I'd seen that features the perspective of a Japanese civilain.

⚠️ Features the death of a child and limb loss. There's also a disturbing scene featuring a victim of one of the atomic bombs near the end.

Wolf Children: Ame and Yuki

This film follows Hana, a Japan-native woman who fell in love with a magical shape-shifting wolf-man, and her trials with raising their children, who can also magically shape-shift into wolves, on her own. It's a very heartfelt movie about a mother's love and the struggles of doing right by your children when you have limited resources to actively guide and care for them. All the characters feel unique and alive in my opinion. Also, the animation is so good that my sister and I initially mistook it for a Ghibli film.

Again, like the previous two anime entries, I don't see it ever brought up outside of anime circles.

⚠️ There's some child endangerment present in the film, although none of it is the fault of Hana as far as I can remember.

Roman Holiday

Roman Holiday is about the fictional Princess Ann (played by Audrey Hepburn), who while on a whirlwind tour of Europe, finally reaches her breaking point over having her entire life be one big schedule and all her words and actions being rehearsed. In the spur of the moment, she runs away in hopes of experiencing what life is like for other women. Unfortunately, she was previously given a sedative, meaning she doesn't get too far before it takes effect. Fortunately, she is found by the kind reporter Joe Bradley (played by Gregory Peck). Believing her to be drunk and unable to get an address from her (because she has none) he ends up taking her home for safety's sake and allows her to sleep off her suppose drunken stupor. The next day, he realizes who she is, and decides to take her on a fun sight seeing trip across Rome in hopes of getting the big scoop. Along the way, they begin to fall for each other.

This is my favorite black and white, old romance film. I think the relationship between the main characters is absolutely beautiful and I have a lot of fun watching it.

⚠️ I'm not entirely sure what kind of warning this film would need. However, it was released in 1953, so values dissonance will probably be at play for many viewers to at least some extent. For example, early in the film Ann is given sedation drugs by her doctor for her behavior, something that is very unlikely to happen today. Also, Mr Bradley deciding to take Ann home to keep her safe rather than call the police or an ambulance is a very pre-90s decision in my opinion.

CHAPTER 12:

All the girls had at least one bag in their hand. Momo had eight (some big but most of them medium sized that only contained one or two things each), Mina four, Hagakure two, Jirou one, Uraraka one, Tsuyu two, and Aoyama five. The only one without any bags was Bakugou since he hasn’t bought anything. So far— and he will rather die than admit it out loud— hanging out with his classmates wasn’t the most terrible thing that has happened to him these past three days. He was actually kinda having a good time.

"You should have come with us to get your nails painted too, Bakugou-kun" Hagakure placed an invisible hand on his shoulder where he saw some glittery blue polish.

"Yeah! I think a nice /green/ would look great on you" Uraraka smiled, giving a wink to Tsuyu who shook her head.

“Actually, I think Bakubabe would prefer a firetruck /red/ ” Mina nudged Jirou who gave her friend a knowing look.

"On the contrary, I believe a nice dark color like black or purple would suit Bakugou-san best" Momo suggested, oblivious to what her other friends were hinting at. "Perhaps Bakugou would like to join us on our next trip?" she turned to look at him and he looked back at her then the rest who were waiting for his answer like they were insane.

"But I won't be a girl then" he replied like they'd forgotten.

"We know that, kero, but Bakugou-chan is fun when he is not yelling," Tsuyu responded, a finger to her cheek.

"You joining us again would be très bien, monsieur" Aoyama smiled over at him, wiggling his fingers in front of his face to show off simplistic french tipped fingernails.

Bakugou didn't really respond but he did smile a little on the inside. Not that they needed to know that though.

The conversation was dropped to start another one about what they've bought so far, cuticle care (via Aoyama), and what they wanted to do tomorrow in their free day. That somehow turned into Momo recalling a restaurant she visited with her parents where the food was magnificent and that led to Bakugou claiming he can make the best damn breakfast they've ever had and Jirou challenging him to cook breakfast for them tomorrow to prove it. He agreed of course and the girls couldn't wait. They already knew Bakugou was a great cook but challenging him was always fun for both them and for Bakugou since he liked to prove he was the best.

After walking around for a bit, the girls decided that they wanted to go into a store that just recently opened. It was one similar to Victoria Secret that sold lingerie and other intimate clothing that Bakugou didn’t feel comfortable in so the blonde stayed outside on his phone.

"Is that Bakugou Katsuki I'm seeing? Or do my eyes deceive me" Bakugou could practically hear the smirk and sarcasm dripping from the words. Looking up, he saw Emo Deku 2.0 walking over to where he was standing, the smug bastard.

"Is that the human vibrator I'm seeing? Or is it just a big pile of dog shit" he countered back, baring his teeth up at the guy. Shindou Yo always rubbed him the wrong way and just the sound of his voice and that dumb way he patronized and looked down at him like he was better was enough to make his blood boil. He thought he’d seen the end of him after their provisional hero license exam when he was a first year and Shindou was a third year, but fate has a funny way of working and Bakugou seems to run into the guy more often than he'd like when he's out doing public service hero work or at internships.

"No need for insults, Bakugou. I was just surprised to see you, that's all. I heard about what happened over at the agency but I didn't believe it. I mean, you /are/ supposed to be the best, right? So how on earth was I to believe that a small time thug got the upper hand on the Great Explosion Murder God DynaMight?" Shindou tilted his head, looking down at Bakugou with fake curiosity and concern. "I could see I was mistaken though. Maybe you're just not as amazing as they say you are /just/ yet. That's okay though. It took me all three years at Ketsubutsu Academy to fully learn how to be a great hero but I guess some people need more time. It's okay being a late bloomer. Isn't that right, Katsuki?"

Bakugou was positively fuming and it took everything in him not to launch at him right then and there. He wasn't the same explosive boy from his first year that couldn't control his impulses. Besides, making him lose his composure is what that asshole wanted and he won't give him the satisfaction. He won't compromise his perfect record and possibly endanger someone by using his quirk in a public setting. Clenching his fist as hard as he could, he let the sparks threatening to ignite die in his palms.

"What? You've got nothing to say, Katsuki? How very unlike you" the black haired boy teased. It's been two years since Shindou Yo graduated from Ketsubutsu Academy High School and half a year since he's been working as a rookie pro hero. He was assigned to this mall by the agency he works at and imagine his surprise when he saw Bakugou just standing there in the open like that. Really, he just couldn't resist coming over and saying hi. The blonde was always so entertaining.

"Pro-hero Grand! May we have your autograph?" a small girl and boy ran over to them, each holding a pen and notebook in their hands up to Shindou's face. The man's condescending smile changed into a friendly one at the flip of a switch. "Of course! It'd be an honor" he laughed and gave them both his signature. Bakugou let out a 'tch' sound, crossing his arms over his chest. "Thank you for your support!" he waved them goodbye and the children waved back with a 'thank you', running off back to a woman who they guessed was their mother.

"Does it ever get tiring being a two-faced bitch?" Bakugou growled and Shindou turned back to him, letting out an amused laugh.

"See? There he is. Or should I say she now?" he made a thinking face and laughed when Bakugou audibly growled like a dog. "That's what I like about you, Bakugou. Always so feisty" he cooed before stepping a bit closer. Bakugou kept his ground so they were almost chest to chest, Bakugou glaring up at the guy because of his new height. If he was smaller by one or two inches before, he is now nearly half a foot shorter than the bastard. "You know, this look actually kinda suits you. It makes you look cute when you're angry so really I can't even take you seriously. Not that I did before, but now I get the sudden urge to hug you. Isn't that funny?" he smirked.

"Well take a good long look, perv, because I'll be turning back to normal tomorrow morning," Bakugou spat. Shindou looked genuinely confused for a split second and it made Bakugou get a sinking feeling in his chest.

"Tomorrow morning? Are you sure? Did Eraser tell you that?" the pro hero raised an eyebrow, a smile tugging at his lips.

"What the hell are you getting at?" Bakugou frowned.

"Oh nothing, don't mind me. If that's what your teacher said then it must be true" he shrugged.

"Is there something you're not telling me? If there is, spit it out already."

"Like I said, it's nothing. Anyway, I must be getting back to work. The streets don't keep themselves safe, you know?" Shindou smiled and turned to leave but Bakugou immediately grabbed his arm, spinning him around to face him and gripping onto the black and gold top piece of his hero costume to pull him down to his eye level.

"Woah there Bakugou. Aren't we moving just a bit too fast?" the older of the two chuckled.

"Listen up, dumbass. I swear if there's something you're not telling me I'll—" he growled out before getting interrupted by a stern voice.

"Bakugou! What is going on here? Let go of him immediately" Iida stepped up to both of them. Midoriya, Todoroki, and the other three standing behind the tall, navy haired male were all ready to intervene if need be, Midoriya and Todoroki more so than the rest.

Bakugou unclenched his hands from Shindou's hero costume with a huff and Shindou smoothed it out with a throaty laugh.

"Thanks for that. Iida Tenya, right? Ingenium's younger brother?" Shindou smiled.

The class rep nodded and answered 'yes, I am' before putting his hands together. "Pro-hero Grand," Iida gave a deep bow, "I apologize in advance for my classmate's despicable behavior. As class rep it is my responsibility to ensure everyone acts their best in order to better represent the name of U.A. My apologies again, sir!" Iida was practically yelling and it caused a few heads to turn their way in curiosity to what was happening, but they all looked away with a sharp glare from a certain ash blonde that basically told them to mind their own fucking business. "Is everything okay? Was Bakugou bothering you?"

Bakugou could have laughed. Of course they'd think that so he wasn’t even surprised.

"What?" Shindou laughed before the black haired hero began maneuvering the younger so that he had an arm around Bakugou's shoulders and his other hand was holding one of Bakugou's wrists like they were the best of pals. "Oh no, not at all. Bakugou-kun and I were just talking about old times. I was giving him a few words of my experience so far and some advice as a pro hero" the male gave a bright smile. "What you saw just now was a new move Bakugou was demonstrating to me. There is no problem here, right Katsuki?"

"Whatever."

Midoriya's eyes flickered over to Kacchan. Honestly, he doesn't think that that was what happened at all. He thinks Shindou said or did something that made Bakugou react that way. He's known the blonde for a long time now and while his childhood friend might be a hot head, he wasn't the type to start fights without reason. Todoroki, Shoji, and Koda thought the same but didn't say anything. They didn’t get good vibes from Shindou either.

Todoroki didn't like the interaction between those two one bit and Izuku felt the need to go up and pull his Kacchan away from him.

"Well, that's a relief" Iida answered with a bit of hesitance. He was still a bit suspicious but let the matter slide.

"I hope to see you all out in the field in a few years. Work hard" Shindou said his goodbyes to all of them individually before turning to Bakugou. "It was nice bumping into you, Katsuki-chan. And I meant what I said earlier too. You look good" he winked and Bakugou growled. "Take care, guys" he smiled, waving goodbye.

They all watched the hero go before Iida was turning to Bakugou. "What happened between you two, Bakugou?" he frowned and Bakugou grumbled.

"Nothin' that concerns any of you. Now quit buggin me."

Iida tried not to take offense. After a few years of being classmates, he should be used to the blonde's somewhat hostile way of speaking. “As you wish. Why were you alone? Where are the girls and Aoyama?” he asked.

“In the store” he huffed, crossing his arms over his chest.

Almost as if by magic, Bakugou’s group started walking out of the store, some carrying new small bags.

“Deku-kun! Iida-kun!” Uraraka grinned, going up to them excitedly.

“Uraraka-san. It’s good to see you” Izuku smiled. The rest of them caught up before Iida started lecturing the girls about leaving Bakugou alone.

“I can take care of myself, four eyes!” he yelled but Iida paid no attention to him as he continued talking to the rest about what he saw happening with Bakugou and Shindou earlier to make a point about why we should all be in groups or in pairs at all times. Mina gasped loudly and Momo turned around to look at Bakugou with sympathy.

“Did he do something to you, Bakugou?" the pink girl was stomping over to him, a furious look on her face. "Where is he? I’ll beat him up I swear” Mina frowned, looking around to see if she can spot the black haired hero around. For his sake, he better pray she doesn't. Apparently she thought the same thing Midoriya did.

"Bakugou-kun! I am terribly sorry we left you alone. I should have known better and stayed behind with you. I am so sorry for your troubles" she apologized.

"Hah? Do you think I'm some type of damsel in distress now or something? It's fine, ponytail. Quit apologizing" he grumbled, looking away. “You too, Pinky.”

Momo gave him a soft smile and went in for a hug. She was sure he'd most likely push her off so when he didn't, she was very surprised. He didn't hug back but Momo didn't expect him to and she hugged him a bit tighter, the rest of the girls going in for a group hug as well. The boys were unsure what to do (even though some of them really wanted to join) so they stood to the side and watched how Bakugou started telling them to quit being "sentimental fucks" and let go already. They could tell he didn’t really mind it when he didn't immediately threaten to blow them up though.

Bakugou couldn’t wait until he went back to normal tomorrow.

Wow. lol-jackles seriously thinks Jensen's less attractive, popular, well known, and talented than Jared. Jensen's never going to rise above being 3rd on the call sheet unless a producer like Jared designs a role playing to his (read: limited) acting skills. Everything Jensen (and Misha) do/have/say is crap. But it's the hellers and AAs who are jealous and MEEEAN to poor Jared. I find literally none of them attractive personally because, you know, they’re men and all that.

But all it takes is one look at Jensen Ackles, even if you’re not personally attracted, to understand that he’s the more classically attractive of the lot. He meets every media standard of attractiveness, like some perfect shake and bake bag of classic attributes of male beauty. I don’t know what universe anybody lives in to pretend otherwise or like Jensen would have a harder time finding work from his looks.

Much less his acting. I’m sorry. Jensen Microexpressions Ackles vs Jared Macroexpressions Padalecki is not a contest. Not remotely. That’s not being “AA”. It’s literally observing the basic functions of their acting.

He just doesn’t. Sam was equally over the top in 15.20. Again, he just was.

I think part of it is in the universe they built to shit down on Destiel, they had to shit down on Jensen’s micro work. They would rather imply, subdermally, that Jensen somehow underplayed Dean’s death in 15.20 than gave a solid (if directorially overdrawn) performance while Jared Manly Wail Dot Jpeged through it. Why? Because they also can’t recognize the same features of acting he applied in 15.18.

I swear to god it felt like they were acting two entirely different scenes with the energy in the comedically long 15.20 death.

Why? Because in both scenes, there was an I Love You with nothing back.

Given, they bro’ed the bro scene. Destiel fandom out here always “No Fear; Cas/Dean calling Each Other Brother: One Fear” and it was literally the bro scene that they crapped on by throwing “my baby brother” in when Destiel didn’t get that, despite all the other “When I first raised you out of hell/got you from school” “knowing you changed me/you didn’t take any of dad’s crap (so I learned not to)” and then they slapped the goddamn “my baby brother” on it and Sam also didn’t say it back and respectively, never ever has.

By bronly logic: Sam doesn’t love Dean, even as a brother. Unless of course, you only respect Manly Wail Dot Jpeg. And not all the nuance Jensen brings to his acting. (”No response; flat; underacted” etc.) -- understanding that would understand 15.18 instantly so can’t have that.

And that’s enduring even before 15.18.

We won’t even talk about the fact that Jensen is currently out-trending Jared on every platform--be it imdb star rating for how often he’s searched, or google--while Jared’s constantly headlining articles on a new buzzy show and Jensen is.. shoveling snow? Posted a picture on instagram? Made a few statements several months ago? Has a production company with zero actual announcements or current products while Jared has one that’s actively attached to Walker? Has a show role for a show that’s going to air in 2022, that got announced half a year ago? IDK. Shrug emoji.

The same people currently don’t understand that 0.2 is a smaller number than 0.3 in the same year on the same timeslot on the same channel too. Nothing they say is grounded remotely in reality. The whole world is a conspiracy against Jarpad to them, and that’s why people talk about Chaos Machine and not Stick To Your Guns, I guess.

They’re in flat denial that this current show is--as someone on SR (the site they convinced themselves I somehow personally made in 2009 just to fuck with Walker in 2021 [which I don’t own]) put it-- in “Walker Try Not To Round Down To 0.1 In Your First Season Challenge” mode with its current ratings trajectory. Ebb and flow tells us it’s going to hover its current 0.21-0.23 for a bit but start draining on the back end and does genuinely risk dropping under 0.151 at this point. And I hate to break it to them again, but 0.1 is a smaller number than 0.3 still.

Flat-out: even beyond who’s more attractive, or who’s better as an actor, or who trends higher online: Jensen just chose his career path far more intelligently.

He courted multiple possible media suitors (WB, Disney, Amazon). He came out with a role on an Amazon show and an exclusive deal with the WB for a studio that can put his work anywhere from on the CW to HBO. He’s diversifying his recognition base and portfolio.

Jared chose a path that is plugging him back on the CW, and actually makes his popup studio in association with it wholly dependent on its parent companies, rather than being an independent operation contracted into exclusivity. If and when Jensen’s contract ends, if he doesn’t feel it’s fruitful, he can do whatever he wants with Chaos Machine, while having a strong bedrock of existing product and notoriety under it. Stick To Your Guns is a limited vessel and reliant on its current clout ladder. Jensen will be able to walk wherever he wants after this. Jared will not. Not as a producer. Not with a media company. He’ll be back to being an actor seeking casting that has some production experience. Which he should, by now, after being in acting for like 20 years. Maybe Stick To Your Guns will survive past and Pedowitz will order another series aimed for a similar demographic to also be on the CW. Because Stick To Your Guns isn’t going much of anywhere else. It even platforming Walker on HBOMax is a CBS-WB agreement for how they’re peddling product with the Netflix deal broken. It’s not gonna actively create content FOR HBO.

Add in Walker being on the CW, and being all but uncancellable as a CBS product on the CW, he’s tied in for at least 88 episodes or until catastrophic failure, whichever comes first. That means 4-5 seasons with its current episode format. That means Jared will have spent his entire professional life on the WB/CW, known as a “stupid teen network”--while, at worst, Jensen may produce content for that network while also handling things for HBO and other WB platforms and performing on other media throughout.

Jensen and Jared both stayed true to SPN as a production--neither can be faulted for how much of their lives went into that and it’s generally an attribute. But one chose to step forward, out, and wider and the other just stepped laterally in the same space and that IS noticeable on a professional level. Again, that’s just reality. That’s going to be looked at by future media agencies. It just is. No amount of hollering on tumblr about the great AA conspiracy against Jarpad is gonna change that.

Jared has officially niched himself into a role where after this he’s pretty much gonna be forever cursed to play The Dad On That New Teen Show unless he does something DRASTIC after this. Period. Like end of story. That’s reality. Short of absolutely embarrassing collapse of Walker he’s not walking out of the show before he’s 43-44. Jensen was already shuffling contract work with his current clients at 41. And came out more independent for it.
