SIIIIIIIIIIGH oh my god though the power of across the spiderverse cannot be understated because I still think about Miguel O'Hara at least once a week and he's ruining me so I have a new idea for you guys (also did any of you see there's gonna be new Spiderman 2099 comics where he gets a Symbiote. Spidey 2099 being driven by his new Symbiote to finally act on his urges after hiding them from you completely for YEARS and just unleashes them all on you like a decade delayed volcanic eruption, just fucks you like an absolute animal who's about to go extinct and you're the only mate for miles--)
So anyways I was initially actually thinking of this for uh like Batman or the JL or whatever but, usually I come out here with my ideas, "what if Miguel meets you for the first time and you two get to know each other and he's crazy for you" but now I'm gonna hit you with "what if Miguel meets Reader and it's his first time meeting you but you've actually met different versions of him before" and it's in the most dramatic way possible (besides that "spiderwoman 2099 Reader who lost Miguel as her husband as her canon event falling prey to new Miguel who lost his wife as his canon event" idea anyways)
Miguel meets you when he chases an anomaly into your universe and finds himself drawn to you instantly, like magnetism, just so curious to learn about you, talk to you, spend time with you, and yet... you seem... off-put by him. You don't meet his eyes in a normal way, and there's a certain... agitation you regard him with more than once. He just wants to get to know you and you're practically AVOIDING him, even as you work for the Spider Society with him practically having to force that watch into your hand
He then finds out with all of these infinite universes, that there's a SECOND Spider Society, ran by another Miguel O'Hara
.... who is your ex-boyfriend
who never got over you
who still wants you back
who you're very obviously uncomfortable around, if not outright scared of, and everyone can immediately tell this second Miguel, let's call him Migs, is maybe not all entirely right in the head. He sees you and his entire personality changes. The tone of his voice. The light in his eyes. The way his smile pulls tight. The clear predatory interest.
Miguel is working with you amd there when Migs is 'introduced' and Miguel is INSTANTLY not only fiercely "territorial", but once he sees that you're actually kind of SCARED of this guy, well... Miguel doesn't want him there. Period. But Migs doesn't want to leave. The man claims you're still a member of his Arachnid Association, that everyone misses you, that HE misses you, misses working with you, misses holding you, FEELING you-
Like can you even imagine... Miguel watches you go from someone who is very unresponsive around him, giving him short answers, really only working with him when necessary, being intentionally emotionless, and then Migs comes out, and your hands are shaking, and you're breathing harder, and for a split second you look at Miguel and he KNOWS you're asking for help and he KNOWS he can see tears, even if you look away moments later trying to compose yourself, and it's ON, this guy has to LEAVE, Miguel doesn't even need a story or explanation he just KNOWS this motherfucker needs to get away from you and get out
Too bad the twist is that Migs is just a less intelligent and just more openly blatant alternate of Miguel, and you were just served on a silver platter to an infinitely more charismatic, more wizened, just as obsessive predator who you are now just SO grateful to. He's your HERO! Not to mention, you know, there were other people in the Arachnid Association that kind of gave you bad vibes, so, you should obviouslyyy stay under the protection of the Spider Society which Definitely :) isn't just as filled with eyes watching you as the last place if not even more, just smarter and more emotionally dedicated :) you can Totally relax here :) ignore that your Spidey Sense goes off sometimes when you're """alone""", it's just nerves, and you should totally totally totally tell Miguel or Peter B or your closest trusted "normal platonic friend" alllll about anything that happens and all of your feelings in detail! I mean, aren't they there to support you? They'll go over their game plan at the next meeting. You know, the secret ones you don't know about, the ones that are always only about one specific special person and I'll give you one guess as to who it is...

spiderman!kim sunwoo x reader (slight eric x reader)
6.7k words, spiderman across the spiderverse au, superhero au, est. relationship au, swearing, spoilers for the atsv movie! but some details of the plot are tweaked to fit my narrative (you'll see that i basically took one of the iconic scenes and put it in writing lol), mentions of death, mild violence, low-key not a full plot..?, kissing, slight angst, BARELY PROOFREAD IT'S LATE I'M SORRY
a/n: apologies in advance for shit poor storytelling in this one 😭 i just wanted to get this idea down and out before i chickened out TT
Tumblr media
His name was Kim Sunwoo, and you happened to know his story pretty well. After all, he was Brooklyn's one and only Spiderman.
"AHHH HOLY SHIT—"
You pulled your phone away from your ear with practiced grace as Sunwoo screeched through the speaker. The words from your textbook blurred as your focus drifted completely away from your assignment.
"BABY, I ALMOST GOT HIT BY A BUS."
"Again?" You teased, flipping the page backward to restart your reading. There was no way you were going to be able to get anything done while on call with your boyfriend, especially while he was actively swinging across New York traffic.
You heard his huff over the long blast of a car horn. "Hey! It wasn't even my fault this time; that guy definitely had headphones in, which is totally illegal."
Snickering, you leaned back in your desk chair and peered out the window of your apartment's bedroom at the city beyond. He would probably be here any minute now. "You should go arrest him then. Aren't you Mister Superhero now?"
"Mister Multiversal Superhero," he corrected with a tone that definitely sounded like he had the biggest grin on his face.
You rolled your eyes good naturedly. "Uh-huh. So is Mister Multiversal Superhero almost here or do I have to find another superhero to come rescue me?"
Just as you said this, your eyes spotted a blur of black and red swinging himself around the apartment building at the end of your block. He was steadily making his way to you, as you knew he had been.
"Woah, wait, have you been seeing other superheroes?"
You rested your cheek against your fist as you watched him get closer and closer. "Well, now that we know that there are multiple universes out there, who knows?"
Spiderman landed quietly on the metal railing of your fire escape, hands braced between his legs in the iconic pose. His suit was black and tight to his skin, leaving close to nothing to the imagination and allowing for easy movement. The ensemble was completed by a red spider symbol drawn over his chest, and a black hoodie thrown over the uniform.
Sunwoo gazed at you from behind the white lenses of his mask on the other side of your window. His heart never failed to literally fly out of his body when he saw you look at him like that. "Ma'am, I'm going to need you to open this window up," he coughed in his forced deep voice, even though he knew that you knew exactly who he was. It was all for fun and to see you smile anyway.
You put your mouth near the speaker of your phone. "It's open, tiger."
Oh, dear heavens…
He could have fainted off the fire escape then, backflipped through the air, and landed kur-splat on the Brooklyn sidewalk while still maintaining the hearts in his eyes. He ended the call feeding through his mask's wireless control, before going through the familiar motions of wiggling the locking mechanism, hauling the window up, and slipping inside your bedroom. He was hit with the smell of your soap and your laundry detergent, and took in a lungful of it. This was what home smelled like. It was simple, yet quaint and soft and nothing like the busy, dangerous world outside.
You stood from your desk chair and walked into his embrace as he shot his web shooters at the window shutter strings and yanked your shutters down and closed. "Show off," you mused, wrapping one arm around his shoulders and using the other to gently pull the mask up and off his lower face.
"Only for you." His pouty lips smiled, and his arms came around your form. "Hi baby."
"Hi tiger." You grazed your thumb over his lips. "Everything okay today?"
"Mhm," he hummed, rubbing his lips together. "You're not gonna take the rest of the mask off?" He chuckled.
"I kind of like you like this."
"I knew it; is this what you use me for? You only love me for my—mmmh!" You shut him up as you yanked him over to you and drew his mouth to yours in a proper greeting kiss. He melted into you with a soft moan, hands cradling you at your waist and lower back as your fronts melded together.
When you both pulled back, Sunwoo took the opportunity to tear his mask off and shove the garment into the pocket of his jacket. The two of you shared a grin.
"So, I hear you're in need of rescu—"
BONK!
You and Sunwoo froze at the sound of the metal railing outside your window rattling, followed by a swear and a familiar-sounding voice hissing, "Ow!"
Sunwoo's smile slipped into an annoyed frown as he yanked the shutter string to send the shutter flying upward. The motion revealed a young man perched where Sunwoo had been just a couple of minutes ago, except in less of the classic Spiderman pose, and more of a one-foot-balance-act situation. The newcomer wore a costume in dark red and black, but a larger percentage of red than Sunwoo's red spider. He rubbed his forehead furiously from where Sunwoo guessed he had hit his head on the fire escape for the apartment above yours.
The thought made him break his irritated expression and laugh. "Changmin hyung, do you just suck at aiming or something?"
The scarlet spider's white eyes narrowed slightly, and he simply held the place where his head hurt. "Hey, you try swinging around in an alternate New York City! Your universe is similar enough to mine, but I feel like everything's been moved, like, an inch to the left. Absolutely ridiculous."
You smiled in amusement, too, taking a step back to settle down in your desk chair again while Sunwoo leaned against the wall next to the window and poked his head out. "Welcome to Earth 412, I guess," you chuckled.
The alternate Spider man made a little waving motion with his hand. "Yeah, thanks, Yn. You know, it's so weird being back here."
"Why are you back?" Sunwoo asked. "As much as I enjoy you cockblocking me—" He hissed as you delivered a swift kick to his shin, "—yah! Okay, okay, I'm sorry!—Sangyeon hyung only said to use the watches when called for." He gestured to the sleek, black watch wrapped around his left wrist. It was a way to communicate between universes, as well as perform a variety of different tasks, one of them being traveling from universe to universe, as well.
Changmin, the spider of Earth 115, sighed and scratched the back of his head. "Well, I actually came to warn you."
Sunwoo tensed. "Huh?"
"Sangyeon's going to call you in soon."
"Oh, okay. I don't exactly see why you would need to warn me about that."
Changmin shook his head. "No, you don't—I can't… really tell you. Not here." His eyes flickered over to you, who sat listening intently. You and Sunwoo exchanged glances, and then Sunwoo looked back to his friend.
"Don't be held up on my account," you piped up in an attempt to lighten the mood. You stood and planted a kiss on Sunwoo's cheek. "Go do what you boys need to do."
Sunwoo smiled at you, grabbing your hand to give it a squeeze, before donning his mask once more. "I'll be back for dinner," he called back to you as he slipped out onto the fire escape with Changmin.
Your laugh rang in his ears as he swung away. "I'll hold you to it!"
Sunwoo grabbed onto the fire escape above yours to give him a swinging start, fingers triggering the firing mechanism of his web shooters as he defied gravity. With a WAHOO!, he slipped through the New York City skies, Changmin following closely after him. There was a place Sunwoo had in mind where the two of them could speak in private, without worry of anyone else eavesdropping or seeing them.
Behind the massive billboard face of Nike's most recent Air Jordans release, the two spider people landed near silent onto the cement rooftop. Sunwoo hopped up onto the railing behind the billboard, holding his arms as he walked across the beam with no problems. Changmin climbed up next to him, leaning against the end pole.
"So what's this all about?" Sunwoo asked above the cacophony of New York below.
Changmin crossed his arms. "You know when we recruited you?"
He stopped, turning to face his friend. "Yeah, what about it?" Sunwoo had been recruited to Sangyeon's team of multiversal spider people several months ago, when a particle collider in his universe threatened to dismantle the entirety of space and time as you knew it. When Sunwoo had stopped the collider from being restarted the first time, the resulting test had brought a handful of multiversal spiders crashing into Earth 412. It had been a mind blowing experience to learn about the multiverse, and that, for once, he wasn't actually alone.
He finally met people who understood him. He didn't have to carry the weight of this all by himself.
"We didn't tell you everything." There was a tension in his friend's shoulders and posture as he said this.
Sunwoo eyed him with trepidation and let out a nervous laugh. "What—what does that even mean?"
A tingling sensation erupted in Sunwoo's head, and both he and Changmin's focus whipped over toward the rooftop below where a large orange portal appeared. It felt as if it had torn a hole through the air, shoving its vacuum-like opening through the world. Sunwoo's heart leapt into his throat; it looked like he was about to find out from the man himself.
He briefly heard Changmin's curse disappear in the wind, and the two spiders leapt off the beams to meet the others coming through the portal to greet them.
Through the portal came one other, a Spiderman dressed in dark crimson and gold, a gold colored slab of lightweight metal attached to his back where four robotic metal legs would emerge when summoned. His helmet retracted, folding inwards on itself like that of a gradient—nano technology, as the wearer, Chanhee of Earth 426, had explained to Sunwoo when they first met.
"Did you tell him?" Chanhee asked Changmin.
The scarlet spider gave a brief shake of his head. "Nope," he said. Sunwoo could hear the disappointment in his tone.
"Told you coming earlier would've been better," Chanhee replied, inclining his head as he turned back to step into the portal, a silent beckon for them to follow.
Sunwoo exchanged glances with Changmin. "It's nice to see you too, hyung," Sunwoo teased.
Chanhee sent a look back to Sunwoo just before he stepped fully into the vortex portal. "You won't be saying that pretty soon."
He didn't have time to question any of this interaction, absolutely none. His brain ran wild with possibilities as he followed Changmin and Chanhee back to Earth 114. There was a sinking feeling in his gut… something he didn't even need his spider sense to tell him. Maybe he should have told you he wouldn't make it back for dinner after all.
Tumblr media
The New York of Earth 114 was home to the headquarters of the multiversal spiders called the Spider Society. It didn't matter how many times Sunwoo saw it with his own eyes, he could never take the awe out of his mouth. His lips parted in wonder as he passed by criss crossing pathways slicing to his left, right, and above and below him. Spider-beings passed by him in masses, all ranging in different varieties from their own diverse universes.
His friends walked ahead of him whilst making quiet conversation with one another, though it seemed like a hushed argument. That was why he refrained from butting in; something made him stay out of it. He didn't know why he feared what came ahead. For once, it wasn't his head saying it; it was his gut.
The scarlet and iron spider were leading him deeper into headquarters to where the shadows ran darker and the machinery ran faster. They passed by Chanhee's usual workstation where he manned the Go Home Machine, the device that scanned a being's target DNA and sent them back from where they came. Usually it was meant for Anomalies, beings that managed to crawl through the cracks between universes and ended up in one that would not be able to sustain them. Usually.
Instead of Chanhee manning the helm, however, there were a couple other spiders Sunwoo didn't recognize trying to labor over it and watch the machine do its thing. Maybe they were his protégés?
"Hey! You guys aren't teenagers; keep an eye on it, would you?" Chanhee barked at the spiders there, who immediately jolted into action.
Chanhee shook his head with an aggravated sigh. "This is what happens when people can't do what they're supposed to." He sent Changmin a pointed look, to which the latter pointedly ignored.
Sunwoo raised a hand in greeting as a few of his other friends passed by. "Hey guys!"
"Sup man," Kevin, Earth 223's resident Spider, exclaimed back in a wave. He, Juyeon, and Haknyeon all seemed to be headed out somewhere together, most likely on an assignment of their own. There were a couple others who Sunwoo had yet to see just yet, but he had a feeling that was about to be remedied.
They passed all the way into the inner lair, a large tunnel space that opened up into a taller tower-like area, housing a floating platform that acted as an office space of sorts. Navy blue light shone through the skylight at the very top of the tower, washing all of the specimens below it in that cool toned filter.
"—just a kid, Sangyeon."
"I've already made up my mind. Don't fight me on this, Jacob. He's already here."
Sunwoo swallowed at the sound of the distinct voices; he had a sneaking suspicion that the he Sangyeon and Jacob were referring to was him. He fidgeted with the watch on his wrist, trying desperately to calm his palpitating heart.
Changmin and Chanhee led him to the edge of the dark tunnel to peer up into the blue tower office. "We brought him," Chanhee said, his voice echoing against the tower walls.
The raised platform began to slowly make its descent, and Sunwoo gradually saw the spiders located onboard. There was Jacob of Earth 530 with his black uniform and pale yellow accents; and then there was Sangyeon of Earth 114, this Earth, with his broad shoulders fitted in a blue and red costume, a spider on the back that looked closer to fangs rather than the insect itself. Sangyeon was different from most of the spiders here—he was self-made, in the way that he had to continually inject himself with this red shit that made Sunwoo squirm in order to retain his powers… at least, that was what Changmin told him.
When the platform had lowered enough to fully view Sangyeon and Jacob but not enough for it to reach the ground, the two executives turned to face their guests.
"Hi hyungs," Sunwoo greeted, attempting to force the nerves out of his voice.
Jacob shot him a sunshine-like smile. "Hello Sunwoo. Nice to see you." He jabbed Sangyeon in the side with his elbow, urging the eldest to make his greeting.
Sangyeon's stony expression did not change. "Do you know why you're here?"
Jacob made an exasperated face, but said nothing else.
Sunwoo swallowed. "No sir. I'm guessing it's not for tteokbokki."
From beside him, he heard Chanhee snort and had to turn his head away to laugh.
Sangyeon merely lifted an unamused brow. He silently walked off the platform and landed on the ground floor with ease. Jacob followed swiftly after him. "When we first recruited you—and I use that term loosely—" He narrowed his eyes at Changmin in nod to his unconventionally forceful method of getting Sunwoo onto the team, "—we failed to mention something to you."
"I've pieced that much together," Sunwoo said, hand reaching up to cup the back of his head.
"Do you know what we're all connected by?" The blue and red spider asked. "Not simply by the names or insect we represent, but the destinies, the canon events written into our very DNA."
Sunwoo cracked his knuckles, heart kick-starting in his chest again like it was chugging up the incline of a rollercoaster. "What… what do you mean by canon?"
"A canon event is something like a pattern. It's a solidified event in your life, Sunwoo—in all of our lives." Sangyeon activated something with his watch, and the room was engulfed in a living hologram of orange. Lines zigzagged amongst each other like the connected dots, and Sangyeon expanded them with a flourish, revealing a familiar lineup of spider people to whom Sunwoo was acquainted with.
The lights of the hologram cut across the shadows of Sangyeon's face like a nightmare. "We're all made who we are by these canon events. Each spider being from each verse is shackled to the death of a mentor figure—"
Scenes of uncles and fathers being murdered flashed before Sunwoo's widened eyes, his body going slack at seeing his own uncle's dying breath leave his body. He couldn't even figure out what to say or think; his tongue had gone heavy in his mouth, words stringing together as slow and thick as wet sand. He couldn't breathe, all of a sudden. His uncle's eyes lost the light in them, they dimmed and dimmed and dimmed—hadn't it been all his fault? Couldn't he have been there to stop the robber?
"—and the death of one Captain or his… child."
More hunched over figures, one after the other, blood, tears, death—why was this being shown to him? Tears welled up in the corners of his eyes. Wait—did he just say Captain or his child?
"What," blew out of Sunwoo's mouth, breathlessly. "Wait, are you saying that—that Yn, my Yn, or her father is supposed to die?"
Sangyeon didn't answer immediately, but instead said gravely, "Canon events must happen, Sunwoo, or the fate of that world would be at stake. It would implode in on itself and destroy millions of innocent lives."
Sunwoo felt his heart rate spike, head whipping around to Jacob, to Changmin, to Chanhee. He imagined his eyes looked wild. "You're telling me she's going to die? Or her father—and, and what? What's the point of telling me all this?"
He couldn't let you die. He couldn't bear that devastation—not without at least trying to save you or your dad.
"When?" He huffed, fingers diving into his hair, mask fisted in one of his hands. "When is this happening?" He demanded.
A beat. "Three days."
Everything went quiet… and then the sound came rushing back in like a tidal wave crashing toward the shoreline.
"I have to save them—"
Jacob's voice cut in. "Sangyeon," like a warning.
But Sangyeon shook his head. "Oh no you don't."
Blood thundered in Sunwoo's ears as he yanked his mask back over his head and made a dash for the exit, only to have an orange, crystalline cage trap him in his place. Panic clambered into the dregs of his throat, suffocating suffocating suffocating…
"Sangyeon!"
"Sangyeon, don't do this!"
"He's just a fucking kid—!"
The world was spinning, and Sunwoo grunted as he punched and assaulted the cage walls, his friends pressing up against the outside and attempting to break through, too. "LET ME OUT!"
There were deep shadows beneath Sangyeon's eyes and he watched on with little to no sympathy. "It's for the good of the multiverse, Sunwoo. You'll understand someday."
Sunwoo bared his teeth. "You can't fucking expect me to not fight you on this."
"It will only be for a few days."
"Fuck you!" The amounting rage in Sunwoo's veins accumulated in a mass of electricity, and he forced that energy out at the force fields trapping him in. He screwed his eyes shut, arms swinging over his face, as he protected himself from the blast. When the cage shattered and blew his colleagues backward, Sunwoo wasted no time in sprinting down the hall.
An enraged roar followed after him—a web shooting past Sunwoo's face—not to grab Sunwoo, but instead to rip the watch right off his wrist.
He swore under his breath as he tripped over a piece of metal, cursing even more as he racked his brain for a way to get back to his earth.
"Bring me Kim Sunwoo," Sangyeon's voice boomed throughout the Spider Society's headquarters, accompanied by whirring red apocalypse lights, "don't let the Anomaly go home."
Anomaly—?
But Sunwoo had little time to dwell on that choice label as he slid through a closing doorway, nearly missing another spider's web flinging at his face.
"Okay, Sunwoo," he said aloud to himself as he emerged into the main quad area. It was bright out here, and hundreds of spider beings milled about like they were all at one massive Spider convention.
"He is an Anomaly, and considered armed and dangerous."
"Oh, shut the fuck up!" Sunwoo cried in distress, aiming his web shooter for one of the high rafters as everyone in the room set their eyes on him.
Dodging skilled versions of himself was not the easiest task, and he weaved through the masses like something akin to a thread through the eye of a needle.
He dared not look back as he crashed through one of the windows of the society headquarters and went soaring down into Earth 114's main city. The city itself was a funnel dive, forcing Sunwoo to zip his limbs to his side and thread the needle through multiple layers of hover transportation and floating roads. Cars were turned up on their sides and he nearly hit his head on a dozen traffic lights.
"Get him!"
"This guy is everywhere!" Sunwoo groaned as he leapt from hood to hood, eyes scanning for a place to duck into and hide. The tingling sensation in his brain was ever-present, and kept him well informed of the encroaching Lee Sangyeon.
"AHHH FUCK!" He screeched, forcefully diving off the side of the road. A long, screeching honk echoed after him. "It's always the buses!"
The level below became a labyrinth of metal rafters and pipes. Steam blew out from unseen origins, but provided the perfect cover for Sunwoo to slip through and catch his breath. He pressed his back up against one of the cool, metal bars, his fingers pressing against his eyes in an attempt to keep the tears at bay.
His heart was five palpitations from clearing his ribcage at this point. He needed a plan—he had to have a—
"What the—" Web slapped against his back and yanked him into an abandoned alcove, "—shit!"
Sunwoo groaned as he crashed to the hard ground, furiously rubbing his tailbone after the impact. He glanced up and met Changmin's eyes, who kneeled down beside him.
"Before you go all rage on me," Changmin said and held up his palms in surrender, "just hear me out, okay?"
Sunwoo's chest rose and fell rapidly. He narrowed his eyes on his friend whose face was hidden behind his own mask. "Yeah, okay… fine," he huffed, "but only… only because—" he staggered, climbing to his feet, "I need to catch my breath."
Changmin cocked his head as if he didn't believe that. "Ohh-kay whatever you say." But even as he said this, he still kept his hands out as if placating a hungry lion. "Sunwoo, I know it's a lot to take in—"
"Yeah, no shit," he spat. Fear spiked in his chest, so hard that it was experiencing a heart attack each time. His uncle's death replayed in his head over and over—but now your eyes, draining of life, joined that visual. It was enough to make dread weigh in the pit of his stomach, an anchor that dragged him down. And yet, the adrenaline was still there, the instinct to do something about it.
His friend suddenly tugged his mask off, revealing his face and mess of curls glistening in sweat and worry. "Hey man, I know it's scary and I know that it is unfair—"
"Hyung, he wants me to let them die!"
"It's to save lives, Sunwoo!"
"So you would let your own significant other die? Even if you have the foresight to save them?" Sunwoo scoffed in disbelief. "You would leave their life or their father's life to whatever bullshit—a canon event—dictated?"
Changmin's brows furrowed and he swallowed. "It is not that simple."
"It sounds pretty damn crystal clear to me."
His friend inched toward him. "We're all mad about it, Sunwoo—devastated, destroyed, even. It's not something easy to digest—and, and I admit that I haven't even fully digested it myself. It's not something I've really… I've really thought about."
Sunwoo stared into Changmin's eyes as if he could peer right into his soul. There was pain in Changmin's voice, a sort of tension that he could identify with. A tension that was human. Sunwoo's hands shook. "Changmin—" he exhaled, "—Changmin, I'm scared."
There was that sheen of compassion in Changmin's eyes as he planted his hands on either of Sunwoo's shoulders. "It's okay. You're gonna be okay. I got you."
And for a second, Sunwoo believed that.
Beep beep beep… Both heads whipped toward the watch on Changmin's wrist. "Target acquired. Changmin, we are heading toward you now." Sangyeon.
Betrayal ripped through Sunwoo, a strike of lightning, and he tore away from Changmin, stumbling and knees shaking. The latter gaped at him, then the watch on his wrist, mouth open like a gaping fish. "I—I swear to god, I didn't know it could do that—!"
It was no use. Sunwoo didn't have the time to entertain what ifs—he launched himself out of the alcove just as the walls crashed inward with the arrival of backup.
Think, Sunwoo, think!
Sunwoo furiously stumbled, clambered, whipped himself up and through vehicles screaming toward him and at him. His ears rang with the echoes of their horns, along with the distant (but encroaching) sound of Sangyeon's voice.
Why was keeping Sunwoo at bay so important? There was no way that stopping two people from being murdered would cause a rift in the space-time continuum. He couldn't be that important in the grand scheme of things—?
A hand grappled his ankle and Sunwoo yelped.
"Kid, you're making a mistake!" Sangyeon yelled above the cacophony of traffic raging all around them.
Sunwoo, heart beat tittering on the brink of collapse from the jumpscare, held firm to the hood of the SUV headed up and out of the main city. He peered under him, where Sangyeon stood just below, his hand stopping Sunwoo from going any further.
"You have nowhere to run, you know."
Sunwoo knew. God, he knew. "How could you step aside and let them die?" He exclaimed with his whole chest. He couldn't bear the thought.
A muscle feathered in Sangyeon's jaw. "You would choose the life of one person over millions? You're too young to understand, Sunwoo."
Youth, that was always the fucking argument, huh? Sunwoo's lip curled in disdain. "Just because you couldn't save whoever in your past doesn't mean that I—can't!" With the last word, he stomped Sangyeon's hand away with his other foot and flung himself further up to the next vehicle.
He heard the growl of rage behind him as he scrambled to swing himself up to the next thing. He slammed his fingers against his web shooter, spitting web fluid against the wind berating him at anything, literally anything it could catch.
When it caught onto something, he went flying with it—soaring up toward the sun on the high-speed train.
A flurry of spiders followed swiftly after him as Sunwoo continued his climb. Heart pounding, he gasped for air at this altitude, head twisting backward to catch a glimpse of how he had done so far.
You have nowhere to run, you know.
Well, Sunwoo didn't have to run anywhere. He just had to get far enough.
Sangyeon was the closest on his tail, his teeth bared, and for the first time, Sunwoo could see the threatening gleam of his razor-sharp canines. He made one massive leap up to where Sunwoo was, yanking down on his legs, clawing at his back. Sunwoo kicked his legs out in an attempt to fling him off—shot web fluid in Sangyeon's eyes, but it only seemed to irritate him even further.
Sunwoo cursed as he rolled out of the way of an incoming punch, cursing again when Sangyeon fisted the material of hoodie and pulled him into his grasp, predator meeting prey.
Sangyeon grasped him by the back of the head and slammed his face into the metal— "Maybe I should just get rid of you," he growled into Sunwoo's ear as the latter tried desperately to swing out of this hold, "you weren't even supposed to exist anyway."
Something foreign tugged at Sunwoo's chest. "Man, you gotta stop talking in riddles—!"
He pressed his side against the train car and horse-kicked Sangyeon's lower waist as hard as he possibly could. As if it happened in slow motion, he watched Sangyeon lose his grip and fumble to stay on board the train, but it was enough.
Sunwoo dove straight off the metro and headed straight for the now abandoned headquarters, hands jamming into the pockets of his hoodie and catching the wind to slow his fall. Wind roared through his ears, muffling the sound of Sangyeon's pure irritation as the older spider no doubt dove after him. Sunwoo's eyes zeroed in on his desired landing place, cradling his head with his arms to soften the impact.
The window shattered on impact—he tucked, rolled, and ran.
This time, he willed himself to turn invisible to the eye, even heightened spider eyes. His brain scrambled as he made a mad dash for the Go Home machine. It was somewhere around here—which damn hallway was it in—?!
"Where did he go?" Sunwoo heard from down one open corridor, which made him crawl up onto the ceiling and remain there until he got to his desired location. It hadn't been Sangyeon, but all of his friends had been chasing after him just the same.
He couldn't trust anyone.
Steeling his resolve, Sunwoo leapt off the ceiling and played around with the controls, dancing around the control panel and trying desperately not to panic. He couldn't have possibly run for an infinite amount of time; he only needed to buy himself time to use the one other option he had to get back home.
"Fuck fuck fuck," he muttered to himself when the monitor began playing a very loud song out of the speakers. But it was too late, even as his hand slammed down on the button to mute it.
"SOMEBODY'S PLAYING MY BALLROOM EXTRAVAGANZA." Yep, definitely a Chanhee playlist.
Sunwoo felt the sweat trickle down his spine—but then he swiped his way through controls and somehow managed to hit gold.
"Sequence initializing," announced the machine, and Sunwoo could have screamed with delight and relief.
That was, if he wasn't currently being hunted.
Still shrouded in his invisibility, Sunwoo swung himself onto the steel platform poised at the center of the massive chamber past the control board. A metal arm emerged from the side of the board, an amber orange light scanning over his form.
Chanhee and Changmin barreled into the room, going straight for the control board having yet seen Sunwoo on the platform.
"What's happening?" Changmin cried out as he gripped the edge of the railing, his eyes whipping between the platform and the computer.
Chanhee's two arms and mechanical spider limbs worked furiously to override the sequence. "I don't know!" He grunted. "It's not listening to me!"
"DNA match found. Go Home sequence, commencing."
Sunwoo's physical appearance materialized on the platform just as the machine arm began crafting a crystalline-like webbing around him from the ground up. When both Changmin and Chanhee saw him there, Sunwoo's arm raised, fingers poised over his web shooter trigger.
"Don't stop me," he said, forcing power into his voice. He was trying hard to not let his knees shake right now.
His friends gaped up at him. "Sunwoo, you can't—"
"WHAT'RE YOU DOING? STOP HIM!" And just like that, Sangyeon and company rushed into the chamber like a stampede of buffalo, the former of which going straight for the platform Sunwoo was on.
55% completion.
The crystal had just finished encasing Sunwoo in its cocoon, and Sunwoo yelled as Sangyeon slammed against the outside.
He flinched back. "Just let me go home! I want to go home!" He cried out, hugging his hands to his chest.
Sangyeon beat at the outside with his fist, at first, doing nothing to the crystal—but when it began to crack, Sunwoo's heart dropped clean into the pit of his stomach. "You know why you can't," the man grunted, rearing his fist back to land another solid CRACK to the cocoon, "I have to save the multiverse, and you're in my goddamn way."
75% completion.
"Just leave me alone!" Sunwoo shot back, then backed up against the opposite side of the capsule as Sangyeon's arm cracked through.
90% completion.
He cursed, feet scrambling against the platform as he tried to stay out of Sangyeon's reach.
"You're gonna regret—"
Sunwoo didn't catch the end of Sangyeon's sentence, though he could probably guess what it was. He felt the familiar, yet somehow alien, suction of the vacuum portal. One second, Sangyeon was breaking his fist against the crystal cocoon, and the next, Sunwoo was gone.
Tumblr media
Sunwoo emerged in New York to a glorious late afternoon and fell straight out of that saturated, blue sky. He swore colorfully as he just managed to shoot his webs up at the nearest building and swing himself to safety. He landed on the edge of a rooftop, but he couldn't find the Air Jordan billboard he'd been at earlier.
But he noted Time Square just a few blocks down from him, and a few buildings he recognized from central New York City.
"Get to Yn," he muttered to himself, breath heaving as his heart palpitated in his chest. He determined the direction he had to go in, then began making the trek across the city.
His first priority was to find you, to warn you. He didn't know what or how the canon event would play out, but he desperately needed to make sure you and your dad were okay. You had to be okay—
Tears stung at the corners of his eyes as he narrowly missed another screaming bus, turning the corner to your apartment. The sun was sinking into the horizon now, casting an eerie, blood orange tint across the skyline.
He could barely get his thoughts in order: you, your dad, dead, alone, alone, alone.
As he neared your apartment, he could recognize your silhouette in the window as you hunched over your desk, no doubt studying hard as usual. A smile crept onto his face, a giddiness only you caused, sending a jolt of energy down his spine. He was relieved to be in your arms again soon, maybe even in time for dinner—
Wait.
He paused, web latching onto the fire escape above yours like usual, you never had sheer curtains. They were always shutters—
An internal alarm in his head screamed.
A blur of red and blue crashed into Sunwoo's body, sensing him and the body that tackled him, straight to the alley below. For a split second, he panicked at the thought of Sangyeon already finding him so soon, but it didn't take long for him to realize that… this wasn't Sangyeon.
He and his blue and red assailant wrestled on the floor of the alley, throwing punches that missed, ripping webbing from their eyes—Sunwoo swore as the other guy kneed him in the stomach and pinned his wrists and knees down.
"Who the fuck are you?"
Sunwoo's eyes widened as he came face to face with himself, but red and blue in all the weird places. There were silverish lines criss crossing across his suit mimicking the lines of a spider's web. This guy didn't sound like him though… He glared. "Who are you?"
With a surge of courage, he whipped his forehead upward and straight into his opponent's, sending him cursing and scrambling away.
Sunwoo wasn't in much better shape either, but though his forehead throbbed, he forced himself to his feet.
He and this… alternate Spiderman stood across from each other, walking in a tantalizingly slow circle, assessing the other. It felt awfully familiar, this experience; maybe he'd seen it in a meme somewhere.
"I'm Spiderman," Red and Blue drawled out slowly, carefully. His head cocked to the side. "Who are you?"
Sunwoo froze. "I'm Spiderman."
Red and Blue Spiderman stopped short. The white eyes of his mask narrowed. "Who sent you? Osborne? Doc Ock?"
Sunwoo made a face. "Who?" What was a Doc Ock...
"And what the hell do you want with Y—I-I mean, that… uh, that random girl in the apartment?" Red and Blue scratched the back of his head awkwardly as he stammered out a cover-up.
"Nice one," Sunwoo deadpanned. Then, as the information marinated in his head and the cogs in his brain began to turn, a realization dawned on him… and it filled him with pure terror.
Red and Blue must have sensed Sunwoo's dread. "What? Got nothing to say now? How about I—"
"What Earth is this?" Sunwoo blurted, head swiveling to and fro to find some kind of indication that he hadn't just royally screwed up. He shot a web up to the top of the nearest apartment building and swung himself up.
Red and Blue blinked. "Huh?" He swiftly followed after him. "Dude, dunno what rock you crawled out from under, but there's only one Earth in this solar system. You learn that shit in first grade." When he landed on the rooftop, he trailed after Sunwoo, who was busy soaking the skyline around him with a new pair of eyes.
Everything looked relatively the same.
It all smelled the same.
"—as always, this is your daily reminder to keep your eyes peeled for the Spider Menace!—" Sunwoo tracked that awfully annoying voice broadcasting from an electronic billboard more than a few blocks to the west. Featured on the screen was an older man with salt and pepper hair, and a mustache shaped like a broom. His face looked like one of those that were trapped in a perpetual state of irritation.
He made a face. "Who the fuck…"
Red and Blue made a guttural sound of disgust. "J. Jonah Jameson. My absolute best bud."
Sunwoo's head turned toward him. "People don't like you here?"
A snort. "I wish. Tough crowd, I guess."
Sunwoo pursed his lips into a small frown, but nodded. He could relate to that. The authorities and public had mixed views of him, especially at the start of his career. Even if he aimed to save people every time, he couldn't exactly pay for all of the damages done to buildings and structures and… well, people.
"You're not from here, are you?" Red and Blue said after a moment.
The dread, the panic, the fear, was beginning to creep into his nerves again. Sunwoo cracked his knuckles, trying to wrack his brain for next moves. Anything, anything. "Yeah," was all he could voice. Reality was a quicksand he was sinking into, deeper and deeper.
"I'm guessing that doesn't mean you're from LA, does it?"
Sunwoo laughed, but it was a sad sound. "I wish. No, it's more like… a different universe."
"So... you have your own Yn in that universe?"
Sunwoo swallowed. "Yeah."
His colleague gave a small nod, unable to find anything to say to soothe Sunwoo's nerves. There was so much trembling in his voice, his fingers, his knees…
From out of his periphery, Sunwoo spotted a hand extended out to him. "Well, since it seems we're both spider people—I'm Eric."
Sunwoo glanced from the hand offered and the red and blue mask, eyes locked on him expectantly. He clasped Eric's hand. "Sunwoo."
With a firm shake, Eric said, "Well Sunwoo, how about we find a way to get you home, huh?"
He hadn't even realized tears had dampened the fabric of his mask until he sniffled. Sunwoo released a shaky breath, eyes wandering back to the skyline that had looked so close to his, but was now a complete foreign entity. He had less than three days to get back home to you with seemingly no way back at all.
Tumblr media
a/n: honestly unsure of a sequel lol but it would be cool to explore eric's spidey universe

my thoughts on the nimona movie (no spoilers)
I literally just finished watching the nimona movie. It is SO good. I liked the graphic novel and the trailers looked incredibly promising and it absolutely lived up to my expectations. It is so queer, and so trans, and knowing that ND Stevenson wrote Nimona years before coming out gave me a lot of emotions about the way this was realized on screen. I don’t know how much he was involved in the adaptation, but it’s absolutely something he should be proud of.
I wondered how Nimona would work as a movie, knowing that Hollywood is sometimes bad about book adaptations. But the trailers gave me the impression that they were changing some things but keeping the spirit of the graphic novel alive, and after seeing the movie I think that’s 100% true. They mixed things up quite a bit—there are a few scenes that are straight out of the graphic novel, but most of the events of the plot were new or reworked in a different way from the original. But the original themes underlying Nimona are not only still there, they’re made even more big and bold and obvious by the changes.
And let’s talk about the animation for a second!! Nimona might not quite be as flashy as spiderverse, but the animators were absolutely still doing groundbreaking things with the animation. It’s 3D animated, but rendered in a way that’s designed to look more like 2D animation. Instead of hyperrealism they went for stylization, but still with the super dynamic motion of 3D models. This article [https://mashable.com/article/nimona-animation-style] talks a little bit about the artistic choices that went into it, and how they were going for the vibe of "graphic novel come to life." (I still have no idea how they pulled off cel shading on 3D models, but I’m so impressed.) The lighting in particular stood out to me as very cool, and the transitions when Nimona shape shifts were absolutely seamless. The whole movie just looked incredibly cool.
Speaking of the artistic skill that went into this film, two of the three main characters (Ballister and Ambrosius) were drawn as white in the graphic novel, and were changed to people of color in the movie, with such skill that when I went back to reread the original to prepare for the movie I had a genuine moment of “wait, they were white?” Their character designs were adapted so perfectly as to be instantly recognizable, while also fitting their style into the updated aesthetic of the movie. (Which has a super cool medieval/futuristic thing going on, expanded from what we see in the graphic novel.) Nimona is also, I cannot overstate, so perfectly Nimona. It’s clear that a lot of effort went into capturing the essence of ND Stevenson’s drawings.
The plot of the movie was not anything particularly new—“maybe the monsters aren’t monsters after all” is an oldie but a goodie—but it was done very well. Even though I’d just reread the graphic novel, there were enough changes that there were plenty of surprises. Also, did I mention how funny it is? There are so many hilarious lines & visual gags that don’t veer into the awkward place that animated movies aimed at a young audience sometimes land. And again, I cannot emphasize enough that it is even more explicitly queer than original, and they leaned into the trans vibes of Nimona very hard. Props to Stevenson and everyone else who worked on this movie.

Uhm...
Hi everyone?
Back from my little break I guess.
1 year is quite little
yea sure April 18 ,2023( the last time I posted) was a long time ago but,
"It's April 21st!! Of 2024!!"
oh wait I'm talking to myself again..
----------------------------------------------
Guess whose back, Back again, Shady's back..tell a friend.
yea
I have an excuse! I was going to take a break in observance of my little sister turning 10 (she's 11 she's growing up way too fast), boom one year later.
Genuinely forgot why I left Tumblr, for that matter social media after that..blame it on mental health and stress.
People should know that stuff happens in a year, things change. So guess what, this blog is changing..whoopi. Excluding my pfp I love it so much for absolutely no reason
-----------------------------------------------
Blog things.
When I created this blog, I was in my "Jeantonio era", Jeantonio hyperfixation, if you were a CS fan in late 2022 most likely I was in your screen yapping about them and what not. Literally that was all my blog was good for, for that reason alone.
Yea, no more of that. I'm guessing the light switch turned off. I don't know what happened genuinely speaking they just aren't like..you can say I've gotten mature, when I look back at my posts I want to cry, bawl and curl up into a ball fetus position by the pure cringe of it. I don't know.
Not all only Jeantonio, it's just CS in general, sure I'm in a discord server (hi @tiredguyswag) about La Femme Rouge but I really just don't feel the same way about the show I used to. Blame it on personal life I guess.
now that I say that all I say on discord is how I stopped having a Jeantonio hyperfixation 🙃
Anyways,
Don't get me wrong I still love the,but I'll barely post about them. Yea, mind blower.
Next segment
--------------------------------------------------
Bio thing
It's funny how I haven't made this before but that's that I guess,
- I go by Cassandra,
(@r41nb0wzzz DO NOT CALL ME OUT, I KNOW WHAT MY NAME IS.)
-Minor (don't hit on me 😒)
-She/Her
Hobbies: Drawing, Animations, Running,..does talking count?
.. I'll just skip to the fandoms part.
- Avatar:The Last Airbender
- Carmen SanDiego (kinda obvious)
- Any kind of children's show
-Mandela Catalogue
- MLP
- Undertale, but just barely
- Steven Universe
- Genshin Impact
-Spiderverse
I've forgotten now
Now, this shall come as a Total shocker for you guys but,
- Total Drama Island
see what I did there
next segment
-------------------------------------------------
Everyone knows what a hyperfixation is,
A character(s) or show, or something you like so much you traumatize them or you draw them in class so much you have 3 full pages of that one character.
(Okay, funny thing is I've never drawn El Topo and Le Chèvre like, never in my life until like, January this year during Carmen week, crazy.)
Anyways, I'm pretty sure I was never one of those users that had a new hyperfixation like, by the day, "Jeantonio 4 life man"
Which is funny,
Okay I'll get on with it Rajbow (Raj and Bowie) is cool guys.
I love Rajbow so much man..
It's like ... it's like Terry McGurin watched Carmen SanDiego and then implemented Jeantonio onto Total Drama Island.
I will go on and on about them like..
Like look at them!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look.
Goofy Goobers times 2x man..
I didn't even mention Wayne man..Wayne!!!
I will put each of them in my pocket..each!
It's a brainrot.. man..
Will I be making remarks about my hating Bowie? No!
Le Chèvre got them because I hated him but now I don't because I forgot my reason,
or I just made him too fem queen in my head..
I love Bowie man..
And Raj..
And Wayne..
Platonic Raynebow 4 life man..
--------------------------------------------------
I forgot the majority of the stuff I came here to say, so I'll just say what I remember, and leave you guys to forget this,
-I'm going to delete a lot of my old posts most likely this weekend, they were very cringe man, understand where I'm coming from...
-Thetalkwithaveaclock isn't coming back, it's getting killed off. But then again nobody cared or knew what it was,
- Posting won't be something you'll be getting in every 56 seconds, it's more like every 56 days or something..I either just don't want to come back to Tumblr or its school man..
-----------------------------------------------
Yeah, that's pretty much it..I forgot a lot of what I was going to say to you guys, okay..uh..
Anyways,
Bye Bye..CS nation?.. I'm guessing the majority of this will be read by CS nation..

Miguel O’Hara is the Antithesis of the Spider-Man (Vague Spoilers)
I watched Across the Spiderverse a couple days ago and this idea has been driving me up the wall for the past 48 hours so I decided to finally sit down and hammer it out.
TLDR;  “It wasn’t done purposefully. It was done accidentally. But I think it was the best thing we did: making it so [Spider-Man] could be anyone under that costume.” ---Stan Lee
In Across the Spiderverse, Miguel is both an antagonist within the story but he is also an allegory (intentional or not) for the kinds of fans that are obsessed with gate-keeping and “canon events.” Miguel is obsessed with this idea that Miles isn’t supposed to be Spider-Man, and both diegetically as well as thematically fails to understand what exactly it means to be Spider-Man. Similarly, the kinds of fans that are obsessed with gate-keeping comics, characters, and canon, often fail to overlook the purpose of the art and the story that they so fervently protect.
The hypocrisy of Miguel and those like him is that they are not only antithetical to what Spider-Man is, but what comics are. Comics, especially superhero comics, are fan-made creations. Perhaps they didn’t start that way, some just started with two Jewish kids from New York. Eventually, those comics reached a wider audience. Kids from all over the nation were flocking weekly to their local pharmacies to pick up the brand new issue of Amazing Spider-Man. And those kids fell in love. And what they read as children inspired them to go on to write for those companies. It was fairly common in the comic book industry (especially during the Silver and Bronze age (60’s-80’s)) to have writers hopping around from [character] title to title. People added things and took things away, Steve Ditko himself transformed Spider-Man from the goofy awkward high schooler to something darker and more angst-ridden. But to this day, the quick talking Spider-Man and his awkward counterpart, Peter Parker, prevails. Canon is never truly fixed in comics, which, much like fan fiction, creators add what they want to see and if that idea or concept or “canon” becomes the most popular or the most utilized, it cements itself into the canon of the character. Retro-active canon in comics is very real and is still something you can see in characters like Batman, Superman, Cyborg, Wolverine, Spider-Man. Rewriting the same story over and over and over again is common! Rewriting it until something sticks and is accepted is the norm: some [comic] runs stand out and others flop. Comics are influenced by other media as well: actor portrayals very visibly affect the way the character is drawn and the way that they are even characterized. Christopher Reeves changed the way that Clark Kent was drawn. There are artists that still pull his film portrayal of Clark Kent as a reference for their depictions. You can’t control canon, even as much as publishing companies and comic dude bros (and also apparently, fictional futuristic Spider-Men), want to. Canon is changed and shaped and defined by so many other factors than just what is written down. Canon in comics is malleable and ever-changing, sometimes contradicting itself. But comic canon is this wild beautiful mythology that grows and changes and is shaped by the writers and the fans and the movies and the time and place in which they were written.
And as to Spider-Man… Miguel’s insistence that Miles is an anomaly, that he wasn’t supposed to be Spider-Man, is wrong. He focuses on the fact that Miles was bitten by a spider from a different universe, therefore, if Miles hadn’t been bitten by someone else's’ spider, the Peter Parker from Earth-1610 (Mile’s Universe) would’ve survived and Miles wouldn't have been Spider-Man. He singles out Miles as different, as anomaly, something that was true within comics for many years after the very first Black Spider-Man (Miles Morales) debuted. But the truth of the matter is that Spider-Man isn’t supposed to be anyone, he’s just… a guy: a friendly neighborhood guy. Just a kid from Brooklyn. A nerdy, dorky kid from Brooklyn, who got pushed around at school and happened to get bit by a radioactive spider. Miguel himself wasn’t even bitten by a spider! Half his DNA is spider DNA due to comic book zaniness and pseudo-science. By that sheer factor alone, Miguel wasn’t supposed to be Spider-Man either. Peter Parker isn’t supposed to be Spider-Man. Miles Morales isn't supposed to be Spider-Man. Fuck, Gwen Stacy being alive is an anomaly in most universes! All of the Spider-Men shown in Across the Spiderverse consistently break Miguel’s rule that someone else is supposed to be Spider-Man. Peter B. Parker has a daughter—something that doesn’t often happen. Jess Drew is based on a scrapped version of Spider-Woman from ‘74! What makes the Spider people Spider-Men is that they choose each and every day to take on the great responsibility that comes with the great power that they have. Anyone can wear the mask. You just have to be brave enough to put it on. In a multiverse of infinite possibilities, anyone can be Spider-Man. The first movie, in retrospect, understands this thematic element that Miguel O’Hara simply cannot seem to grasp. As Miles says, “Anyone can wear the mask. You can wear the mask. If you didn’t know that before, I hope you do now.”
And in the words of the man himself:
“It wasn’t done purposefully. It was done accidentally. But I think it was the best thing we did: making it so he could be anyone under that costume.” ---Stan Lee

Please Go Watch “Puss In Boots: The Last Wish”!
Please forgive this adrenaline fueled post; I need to let it all out after what I just witnessed.
I just came back from watching “Puss In Boots: The Last Wish” with my brother in the theater. The reviewers weren’t wrong; this movie was freaking amazing!
I was already drawn to it because of the animation, but seriously... everything about this movie was pure gold. The characters, the story, the twists... I loved everything! I could gush about how beautiful this movie is forever and how clever they were when playing around with the framerate for the action bits, because seriously; they did an incredible job. Puss’s new design is adorable and I just love how everyone was designed:
Tumblr media
But what really got me, besides the animation and story, were the characters. I loved them! The movie team did an amazing job making me care about them, especially the new characters that I thought I was going to hate, especially the dog. I love him and want to protect him, the poor thing!
Tumblr media
They were all great and I loved the found family trope they established. The emotional bonds they share feels so real and good, so when the emotional scenes happen, they are impactful!
And the villains/antagonists... my goodness... They were also amazing and were actually intimidating! I was scared and thrilled whenever they appeared. They were some of the best villains/antagonists characters I’ve seen in any movie for the longest time! Heck, they are far better than most villain characters I’ve seen from other popular properties.
Especially the Wolf, I freaking loved him! Everything about this character was great, from his design, voice, and overall presence. And I’m not afraid to admit that I think he’s horrifying and attractive:
Tumblr media
In relations to the villains, this movie has some really intense scenes, and without spoiling too much... this movie got away with so many things that I haven’t seen even in many action packed movies meant for older audiences, from action to even language. I’m not joking; the stuff they got away with in this movie was jaw dropping in the best way. Me and my brother literally had our jaws drop during some of these scenes. Some scenes were DEFINITELY not for little kids.
This is honestly one of the best animated movies I’ve seen in a long time. No, one of the best MOVIES I’ve seen in a long time. It is so high on my personal favorite movie list now, it’s right next to “Into the Spiderverse,” which one of my favorite movies. Hell, I’m even willing to say I loved this movie even more!
If you love great animation, action, story telling, and characters, please watch this movie when you get the chance! Especially in the theater so you can get the full experience, because that is what this was for me; a true spectacle. I sincerely hope more people see this movie because it’s well deserved. Dreamworks really outdid themselves this past year; first “the Bad Guys,” which was also a fun time, and now this. I also hope this means that we’ll see more movies like this with innovative animation and stellar characterization and storytelling. (TAKE THAT DISNEY!)
Tumblr media
This movie seriously exceeded my expectations and I fully intend on buying it soon as it becomes available. If you are at all interested, please give this movie a watch. You won’t regret it.
I certainly didn’t. It was worth every penny.

V AND CHEEKY IN THE SPIDERVERSE-
*swings out*
fffUCK - OKAY, HERE WE GO -
I JUST REDESIGNED MY SPIDERSONA SO I'M IN THE MOOD FOR SOME SPIDER CONTENT.
Alright, so, V and Cheeky are the spider in their respective universe.
I'll put this under the cut because there will be Across the Spiderverse spoilers.
~ Dari
Tumblr media
VeeVee was actually, shocker, a villain! At the time, he was fighting the Spiderperson of his current universe and like "Superior Spider-Man" became the new one after he'd killed them.
Who was under the mask was actually Lady Blade, who was the spouse of his late mentor Dark... Yeah.... V was pretty horrified. Especially because she went out of her way to be kind to him and he couldn't even do her the service of letting her know that he did it.
So was a mixture of guilt and resolution to make up for his wrongs; V went underground - only to debut as "Latrodectus". He got Blade's blood and so was able to use some connections in the black market to become the new Spiderperson.
Past his spider abilities; he can create dark blasts of energy and imbue his webs with something nasty - either way, touching it can burn or kill depending on its potency. He can also see in complete darkness.
He's still quite brutal though, still wants to crush the corrupt government and labs - kills a lot of the villains that can't be persuaded to change or gets in his way.
We know the Spider-Society ain't too picky and he's skilled so... He's on call a lot for the heavy shit. He really likes pissing off Miguel.
... Has an affection for Hobie and Gwen too.
Tumblr media
Cheeky, on the other hand, was kind of drawn into the fold of a terrible love triangle. Like, they were in love with their best friend - Peter Parker, who was in love with their other friend Gwen Stacy. When they became "Jumper", they found out that Gwen had actually had a thing for them. It was just a cycle....
But to quote Spider-Gwen; "In every universe Gwen Stacy falls for Spider-Man and in every universe, it doesn’t end well..."
Peter knew Gwen liked Jumper and in an attempt to try and be more like them, essentially went along with an experimental program to try and become stronger... And it worked.... But it made him much crueler than before - though it gave him the ability to change his voice and appearance...
He pretended to be Jumper and started besmirching their name by committing criminal acts dressed as them(including manslaughter). Of course, they had to stop this imposter.
Neither of them meant for Gwen to get caught up in this; collateral from a scuffle that became way too large. It was actually also where he'd managed to unmask them, only to be shocked to see his best friend instead... Peter and Cheeky could only watch on in horror as the two of them were not fast enough to stop a falling billboard...
After seeing the consequences of his actions and how they've hurt the people he loves, Peter stood down and gave himself up quietly - even confessing that he'd framed Jumper... Cheeky promises to visit him in prison (read: life sentence) when they can.
But since being recruited by Miguel... They haven't really felt as if there was a good time to do so.
They can't always look Spider-Gwen in the eye - it hurts their heart... But they always let her know she's supported and cared for.
There is also a parental affection for Hobie and Peni.
Their favorite is Pav though, shhhh, don't tell the others
Oh! And past the climbing on walls and shooting webs; they can manipulate light - turning it into concentrated heat or snuffing it entirely. Using it to stun opponents is fun too, they actually have night vision visors in their mask that double as strong sunglasses.

HONEYMOON MATCHUP WITH : MILES MORALES
Tumblr media Tumblr media
— honeymoon
— miles is not exactly sure how the two of you met — the one thing he vividly remembers about the first time he had seen your face though was the one time he bumped into you in the school hallway— you were carrying a stack of papers and he tripped over his own feet and the two of you fell to the ground — he apologized profusely while helping you gather your papers — he was a mess, blushing and stumbling over his own words and you laughed and he paused — the sound was like music to his ears. you'd smiled at him and told him that it was okay and he shouldn't worry about it — he might've said something along the lines of "uh, uhuh, yeah, i'm so sorry." because he truly couldn't manage anything else out, too awe-struck by you — you could say he literally fell for you.
— you became close friends quickly after miles found out the two of you share art class — by heart, he was an artist, so it was no surprise when you found sketches of yourself in his sketchbook and teased him about it, it was all good fun with the two of you laughing and then comfortable silence fell over the two of you after, and almost as if on instinct, miles leaned in, pressing his lips to yours in a soft peck — it was like he was drawn to your lips ( actually, he always has been ) and he pulled himself towards the attraction instead of resisting it, it was only to his surprise when you kissed him back.
— and then, when it was summertime and you were sitting atop a roof and miles swung right besides you — laughing at how you yelped in surprise before taking off his spider-man mask and handing you a bouquet of sunflowers he had handpicked for you himself, grinning at how happy you looked, you were laughing as you inhaled in the scent of the flowers, before hugging him tightly and thanking him, he laughed — his heart skipping beats in his chest as he leaned in to kiss you, to savor your sweet taste that matched the sweet words you always spoke to him, and he couldn't help but think about just how lucky he was.
— what's on the radio : stop the world cause i wanna get off with you, the arctic monkeys
Tumblr media
a/n : this man is literally so dhuwhjdsh i love him so much, ty for the request <33

I wonder if Scarecrow girl regret pushing away someone that she initially disliked? Given one of the meanings for scarecrow in dreams is wanting to correct negative decisions and realizing the good qualities in a person you dislike?
(give this post a read for context!)
MASTERPOST
Ok, I'm going to use this question to answer a few of the Ladies related questions I got. Thanks to all of you for the positive feedback on that theory, I really appreciated it!
Starting with you, anon.
1) About Scarecrow
You know, after making a full analysis on the Ladies and getting a good look at each one of their rooms, both in the Residence and in the Nest, I think I agree.
The question now would be, who was she pushing away?
An obvious answer would be (her) Mono. As I previously established: a Lady of the Maw cannot exist unless a Thin Man creates her and a Thin Man cannot exist unless he's betrayed by said Lady. Maybe she regrets leaving him to his fate? The Eye paintings are quite prominent in her section.
Or, this could be referring to the other girl.
Tumblr media
I theorized that Scarecrow may have had a sister who ruled the Maw alongside her. Not only that, it might have been one of the others as well.
The candidates to fit this role would be Tengu and Teapot. I lean more on the latter.
Tengu is tecnically the second in line, following the order we previously reconstructed, yet I also mentioned that she and Scarecrow may have been interchangable because you can choose to retrieve them in either order. They're the only ones to which this rule applies; Fox will always be first and Teapot will always be last. Plus, Scarecrow's pedestal is taller than Tengu's, effectively making her the second.
Tumblr media
Another thing I think is worth mentioning is that, in the way to reach Teapot, we have to pass over the two armchairs. Reminiscent of when Teapot had to sneak past the sisters, perhaps?
Then, when we do get Teapot, to leave the room we have to once again sneak past Tengu (albeit it's her false persona).
Lastly, I wanted to mention that Red and Blue have always been opposites. It would make sense for Scarecrow to dislike Tengu, especially considering how drastically different they behave. For example, while Scarecrow prefers to hide away from the monsters and ignore them, Tengu actively engages with them and pretends to be a monster herself. I could easily see the Lady in Blue be either disgusted or irritated by this way of handling things.
On the other hand, we have our other candidate, Teapot. I do believe it's less likely, but pictures of one of the girls in the paintings (the one with long braided hair) are seen in her area.
Of course, it's also possible that Scarecrow's possible sister is not one of the other Ladies and was someone else entirely.
This lowkey got me thinking though.
If the "Lady & Thin Man coexistence theory" (yes we're naming it lads), is true, then this means that, if there were two Ladies governing the Maw at the same time, then the number of Thin Men wouldn't line up... because one Mono accompanied two Ladies. Consequentially, our Mono would be the fifth Thin Man and not the sixth, and the number 6 on the Thin Man's door was indeed referring to the number of Ladies.
Now I can't help but wonder how such an event would go down. My guess would be that the Thin Man of the time only took one of the girls (maybe only one of them was wearing the yellow raincoat?), awakening her Hunger which would then lead her to become the Lady while her sister helplessly watches and follows.
Mh. I have to think this one through. The concept is really interesting though.
2) About Fox (and Six)
" I wonder if Fox Mask Girl met a gruesome end for being too kind? Given that kindness will guarantee suffering with certain death in the little nightmares world so it won't be too farfetched that she got killed by someone that she offered kindness to. " - anon
" You know given how Fox mask Lady was able to have children be comfortable in her presence and how she likely died a gruesome death, maybe she was the type to continue on being kind and caring despite what she experienced as a kid and becoming the Lady of Maw? Her horrible death is definitely her being punished for still being kind since the world of little nightmares is where kindness will make you suffer and guarantee certain death. " - anon
I do think she met her demise as a consequence of her gentle nature. But in her defense; if the order is correct, then she was the first Lady ever. Maybe she wasn't aware of the cycle/loop. I'm pretty sure she died at the hands of her successor after trying to offer her kindness and shelter.
(Another thing to think about: the rip on her statue kind of looks like a bite.)
People who try to be kind always get the worst possible outcomes in the Little Nightmares universe. Once again, that famous achievement expresses the core belief behind this world: "Kindness will be your undoing!"
And talking about achievements... the other day I was on the wiki reading the achievement list - as one does - and something caught my eye.
Tumblr media
Little fox.
In the achievements, Six is referred as a couple of small animals that relate to her in some way. For example, she's called a "little canary" or a "sneaky rat". Both connections are obvious: the canary is a bird with bright yellow feathers and rats are considered vermins - which is how Six is seen by the monsters.
This only draws more paralleles between Six and Fox, who have been stated to be quite similar in many ways.
3) Additional Color White Meaning - Teapot
Tumblr media
@pidgeapodge
That is absolutely correct! Then again, this begs the question: who or what could the Lady in White be mourning?
Again, maybe (her) Mono? Or perhaps she's mourning her own lost freedom?
Out of all the Ladies, current one included, Teapot really seems to be the most depressed about the whole situation. It's really heartbreaking considering how her coding made her out to be an innocent, pure hearted, happy go lucky soul.
4) About Scarecrow's and Teapot's masks.
Tumblr media
@doragonlw
Thank you so much for the kind words!
So, personally I do think they kept wearing their masks, even if they're a little peculiar.
Tumblr media
You have to keep in mind that people wearing masks is kind of the whole "brand" of the Maw.
When Six gets there every single employee and even some of the guests are wearing masks, with the only exception being the Granny. Then again, the Granny is a contractor, not an employee. She kinda does what she wants and no one can really stop her, which is really funny in my eyes.
Plus, Scarecrow is not the only one we see wearing a sack on her head. We have the Hunter as well! So I wouldn't say it's that uncommon.
Teapot's choice of mask is way more goofy, bc let's be honest. An extremely powerful force of darkness going around with a teapot on her head? But then again, it lines up with her innocent nature.
It's a stark contrast with the current Lady, who is so refined and came right after Teapot.
5) Lady Six design? An headcanon, I guess!
Tumblr media
@agandcw20
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!
I actually may have to correct you on one thing before we go though: if the girl in this portrait in the Lady's quarters is infact a younger Lady, then it's safe to assume all Ladies before her wore a yellow raincoat as well.
Tumblr media
Perhaps that's their signature clothing, like Mono's paper bag. Paperbag and yellow raincoat, always together.
Moving on!
Yes, I do agree on Six's kimono being yellow. A darker shade of the Lemon color - like how the Lady's kimono was a darker shade of Tangerine - would be PERFECT. Lemon is usually associated with Awareness, Enlightenment and Alertness, which I think would fit Lady Six. She finally realizes how things work in this world and how she was just a pawn into the Eye's plan all along.
As for the mask, I actually thought about it for a while. I don't think it would be the same as the Lady's, because they're really different from each other, but I still think it would have something to do with Noh masks.
Personally, I settled on the Ja mask. It's badass and scary, something I think Six would definetely wear.
Tumblr media
(Btw, I tried searching for what Noh mask could be associated with the Lady's. I found several, but the Fushikizō may be the best candidate.)
6) Same person from different dimentions?
" Random thought but what if the ladies and Six actually exist similar to the movie "Spiderman: Into The Spiderverse", where they are actually a different version of The Lady brought into Mono's dimension to continue the cycle? Some of the masks seem to hint the presence of other worlds, AND Six's connections to previous mask owners. Six herself is also hinted to be from a different world as well, as she is labelled to be "awaking in a world she cannot recognize" " - massive brain anon
OK BUT THIS ACTUALLY MAKES A LOT OF SENSE???
And this actually explains why Mono and the Thin Man would be drawn to her! It's still his friend, but a different version of her! Especially after we've established how the human children are all lured from other dimensions in the LN universe... Wow. Good thinking, anon. This way, the selection of the next Lady is not casual and actually makes sense all things considered.

'The Batman' or as I call it...
'Is there a real difference between emo and goth? That will be a highly covered topic in this unneeded POS.'
Sure, Farrel as the penguin was nice, but being he has little real screen time, no real character development (like everyone in the movie) you just are watching the best version of a live penguin (that stays closer to the gangster element).
You ever watch a movie and go 'this is not bad, but in no form was it one of the better movies, I'll forget it in a year or two, and it cost HOW MUCH to make?!'
It met expectations, but then stopped as soon as it did.
It's just so fucking drawn out, and 2 of the biggest plot holes are right in your face. Spoilers.
1-the bat signal. IMMEDIATELY after knocking out gordan, they meet on the building with the GIANT BAT LAMP!? NO cops thought 'I wonder if batman is gonna be nearby the THING THAT CALLS BATMAN THAT WAS JUST TURNED ON?!'
2-the riddler's writing is extremely noticeable. Alfred's seen ALL the evidence of the riddler. ...still opens the package with his DISTINCT style of writing covering it because....? BECAUSE....?
Ugh. And do not even get me started on catwoman. Great acting, great fights...and carried all the scenes where robbie boy decides to take his twilight character and meet michael keaton's batman...but their forced 'love' connection felt nothing but filler. And like this movie: unneeded (her fight scenes were much cooler than batman's on average tho).
I'll give you it was probably the most REALISTIC batman, but who the fuck cares? It was boring most times. Outside of figuring out the ridder's clues/backstory, nothing in this movie evolves or matters.
5.9/10. Yeah, I'd rather rewatch the BAD batman movies. They at least were bright and colorful.
ps-best part? The chase scene with the penguin. It's way more bad ass than the trailer. But not much else was.
Side note : I think the main reason above all this movie was a disappointment story wise was because if you watched all the batman movies, video games (tell tale-this was basically STOLEN DIRECTLY from their batman game), shows, specials (real and animated) this was like a frankenstein's monster of like...3 of those combined, so you kinda saw most of it coming. Even if you weren't a comic book fan: you KNEW most of this story. 1-the waynes being dirty. 2-mob and wayne's ties. 3-mob controlling the cops. These were totally all done before on some level. So if anything it was just the real life version of a cartoon they already did. Kinda like spiderman no way home was a knockoff of their own animated movie's story (spiderverse)...god forbid originality comes to play. Then ending it with catwoman and batman doing a paul walker fast and furious drive off? That's it. Everything has been done before. We're just recycling everything forever. Amazing. Fuck hollywood.
pps-no sequel. I do not care. Rob was so bland, like the movie, and nothing felt meaningful. Know when you eat something and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth? Well, that was this, but with NO taste. I didn't even know I ate something. It was like water. An ice cube.

Wonder Woman 1984
Director: Patty Jenkins
Starring: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Pedro Pascal, Kristen Wiig
Release Date: December 19, 2019, November 1, 2019, June 5, 2020, August 14 2020, October 2, 2020, December 25, 2020
My Rating: 8/10
My Review (WITHOUT SPOILERS...unless you never even watched the preview and got a vibe of who the bad guys are):
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this was the first new movie I saw in theaters since March 2020. And I made sure to wait a full month after it had been released so that I could see it with the least amount of people possible.
So before seeing this movie myself, I heard a lot of reviews. Sadly, a good amount were negative. While I did see some that I completely 100% agreed with (the ones that praised the escapism and the 1980s nostalgia), there were far too many that said the movie was slow, was boring, was overindulgent or cliché. I went in with low expectations as a result, just hoping for a good movie. And wouldn’t you know it - I was blessed with an awesome good time.
This movie overall made me feel a lot like I felt when I first saw Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. When I first saw that movie and was trying to explain it to people, I more often than not started my spiel off with: “have you ever wanted to WATCH a comic book? Not a comic-based movie. An actual comic book that has been animated?” Because that’s how that movie felt. Especially with the art style and graphics. It was a superhero movie, yeah, but it was a COMIC BOOK movie first and foremost and that really put it in a league of its own. That’s how I came out of Wonder Woman 1984 feeling. Instead of animating a comic book, they just made the graphic panels live-action. Dialogue, action sequences, hand-wavey science that can literally only be described as “comic-book science”.
In my head, I could easily imagine the shots of a scene drawn out in a comic book. Was this movie maybe overindulgent or cliché? Sure! But you know what else is overindulgent and cliché. Comic books. There’s literally a whole section of tropes in media dedicated to “comic book tropes”. It’s comic books’ bread and butter. That’s what made kids fall in love with comic books before superhero movies or television shows were even a thing. They were campy, they were magical, they were science fiction-y to the extreme and that’s what made them so fun! So maybe compared to other comic book based superhero movies, and especially compared to the other darker and grittier movies that make up the DCEU, Wonder Woman was lacking. But only when you’re looking at it from that certain point of view.
This movie felt more like a labor of love. It was made for Wonder Woman fans who love the character, loved the last movie, and wanted to see another fun adventure. For the past 13 years, superhero movies haven’t been in the one-off range. Wiith the original Spider-Man movies...it felt like they were just making one movie. And then if that one did well, they would come up with an idea for a sequel. That’s how most movie franchises went (disregard movies based off of books, those don’t count). With the MCU movies, the idea was ALWAYS to have them tie together into one bigger story. Just like how this movie kind of felt like watching a comic...the storyline itself just felt very true to the feel of comic book stories. There was no tying in to future blockbuster sequels. This could’ve been it’s own little arc within the comic book universe. It was a weird, fantastic stand alone plot and that was refreshing. There were a lot of great things about this movie, there were a number of things that I can agree weren’t the best, but overall this movie was simultaneously a breath of fresh air and a nostalgic thrill ride. Just like the first movie, it was in a league of its own. Too many people have been hating on this movie because they’re comparing it to every other superhero movie. Don’t do that. Judge it by it’s own merits...because it was pretty fucking great.
What I really liked: KRISTEN WIIG. I knew Pedro was going to be great because c’mon, it’s Pedro. Ted Cruz can suck a dick, Pedro’s performance was outstanding. A madman spiraling into more and more madness while trying to maintain the image that he’s being completely rational. Wonderfully executed. The one (1) actor I was worried about for this movie was Kristen Wiig...for as much as I love Kristen Wiig, she’s always going to be a goofy character. That’s what she’s known for, she’s the master of it. When I saw nerdy little Barbara at the beginning of the movie tripping on her heels and dropping her papers and being overall super awkward I was like, “yeah, I see how they thought of her for this role. Dorky comic relief”. I knew she was going to become the secondary villain but I wasn’t honestly expecting too much. Maybe I should be glad I went in not expecting a lot from her or her character because I was absolutely floored by her performance. Give this bitch more dramatic roles.
What I didn’t really like so much: The pacing. It’s one of the negative reviews I had heard before going in that I actually kind of agree with. It’s a long-ass movie and it delivers a wonderfully solid emotional punch more than once...but all that happens in the last 45 minutes or so of the movie. Luckily, the movie is beautiful and funny as are the actors, so it wasn’t a pain to sit through at all. But I did kind of get bored at times and find myself checking my phone.

Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse Full Review (Spoilers)
Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse starts off with a kid named Miles singing Post Malone's Sunflower, which is now stuck in my head. Hehe. He is currently struggling to cope with moving to a new school. He lies to his parents about getting ready, trying to stay home until he is forced to go. He starts trying to walk to school and... vandalizes...? Okay, this is where my first problems lie. I do not like criminals....at all. I mean, it's fine to create a criminal character but they need to have a reason as to why they're criminals. The movie doesn't seem to really explain that so this scene really bothers me. And the fact that it comes from his uncle is just poor parenting right there. I don't live in New York, I don't know if Miles was just being pressured to do this or trying to fit in or what because I heard there are a couple of things in this movie that are common with New Yorkers, such as Miles keeping his shoes untied, which I also don't like. I mean, that's just reckless.
While he's walking to school, he gets picked up by his dad, who insists on driving him to school in his police car, much to Miles's dismay. Now, this is the major reason why I turned the film off previously. The way Miles talks to his dad, saying irrational things such as "You're old" when his dad says "Is that a coffee shop or a disco" and when the dad says "With great ability comes great accountability", Miles rebuffs him saying, "That's not how the saying goes, dad". I don't think either of those things make sense.
Jefferson drops Miles off to school and tells him that he loves him. When Miles doesn't say it back, he then demands for Miles to tell him that he loves him back, humiliating him in front of his classmates and causing them to tease him. That wasn't very nice, Jefferson.
So yeah, there were a lot of irritating things I had to nitpick in the opening scenes. Blame it on my hate for kids 'cause I know most people aren't irritated by those things.
Okay, here's a positive I can say about the movie. I do like Miles's hey scene. The way he tries to impress Gwen by just following what his uncle says and acting like a dork over it and then getting his hand stuck on her hair is funny and memorable. This happened after he got bitten by the radioactive spider by the way.
I also like the way the film portrays how Miles views the world. Using different pictures of people talking while he's in the middle running in distress is a unique way to portray his perspective and his anxiety in a comic book kind of way. In addition, one positive I can give this movie is the animation style. It looks straight out of a comic book with that stop-motion/hand-drawn kind of feel to it. It's how I could imagine an animated comic book and it feels unique while also being reminiscent of something such as The Peanuts Movie, Sponge on the Run, and Scoob. It's groundbreaking, especially considering that Sony uses this kind of style for their upcoming Connected film.
And the scene that follows is one of my favorite scenes in the movie. Miles getting his hands stuck on everything and even ends up walking on the side of a building, walking on a ceiling, getting birds flown onto his face, accidentally playing music while people are listening or watching him with bewildered or even funny reactions such as "I like your singing voice" I think he thought that was Miles. lol That whole scene was comical and fun to watch.
And before I go onto the next scene ramble, I just want to say this real quick. HOW did Miles NOT get injured from falling from a great height (the scene where he first jumps off a building)? I mean clearly cartoon physics but still, it doesn't make sense. Especially since aside from Spider-Ham, these characters aren't supposed to be one of those wacky, cartoonish characters that can survive everything.
Okay, my next problem with the film is the way they introduced the Spider-men. Everytime they introduce a character, they always have to go into this long monologue of their backstory that we don't need. It feels like I'm watching a talk show instead of a movie. Peter Parker's story may have been necessary so that the audience can know why he's so depressed and irritable but I don't think we needed everyone else's backstory shoved down our throats right off the bat.
With Peter B. Parker introduced since Miles's universe of Peter Parker had died, it took me a long time for me to grown on Peter B. Parker. He just came off as kind of a jerk. I mean, we at least understand his backstory so that we can sympathize with him more but he still was hard to like at first. I do like how overtime, he does grow to like Miles and they become more of like a close teacher-pupil or father-son relationship.
Another scene I like was the part where they're trying to infilitrate Kingpin's facility and Miles ends up turning invisible and starts singing Sunflower out of nowhere with Peter trying to shut him up. Some parts of that scene were funny too.
Later, we meet the other Spider-men and this is where the film really starts to fall apart. Spider-men: Spider-Noir, Spider-Ham, Peni Parker, and Gwen Stacy (Spider-woman)... we don't really get much time to form an attachment to any of these characters due to how little screentime they get. They don't come in until much later in the film and don't really do much until the climax. We also don't get much chemistry between Miles and Gwen. It seems like the film's sole focus is on the story of Miles and Peter Parker and we don't get much time to care about any of the other characters. The spider-men seem distinguishable, they all have different characteristics. Spider-Ham's kinda funny though his dialogue can be a bit overly wacky and I like Peni's cute little robot but I don't care enough because we don't know much about them. I believe this is something the sequel will establish.
Another big problem with the third act is the twist villain cliche. Did we really need that cliche in there, movie? I mean, maybe this could've worked but the film doesn't explain why Uncle Aaron all of a sudden decided to work for this... 500 pound guy. I mean, I... I... I don't have much words. Maybe I missed something but I just can't wrap my head around why Aaron decided to become a villain all of a sudden. I don't know if that was in the comic book but I felt the movie could've done without it unless there was a legit reason I missed that was the cause.
Yes, that moment led to a sweet moment with the spider-men relating to Miles and his grief and another heart-warming moment was the part where Jefferson tries to talk to his son, who can't respond due to being tied up. It was sad and sweet how he pleads with his son not to ignore him and Miles has heart all over his face and tries to reach his dad but he can't. Though, doesn't change the fact that this whole thing with Kingpin and Aaron wasn't needed.
Before I end this review, I just want to say a few of the highlights of the third act is the climax as well as the scene where Miles hugs his dad as Spider-Man. Yeah, this act is chock full of heart-warming moments.
Long story short, Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse is not my cup of tea due mostly due to its irritating main characters, its melodramatic third act, and shallow side characters.
I give Into the Spiderverse a 4.5 out of 10. It's a very overrated movie and I think without the Marvels name attached, it probably would've been gotten nothing more than decent but not great reception.
In a couple weeks, I'm going to view another Sony Animation film that I heard was good called Arthur Christmas. It looks cute and I really hope it will be the second Sony Animation film I like besides Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs since I already watched like 5 other Sony films I did not like.

The Comfort of a Blanket
Summary: The twins and Tenn watch a movie and have a pleasant evening together until something happens to Minnie's blanket.
Read on A03:
Minnie sat on the couch enjoying the comfort of her blanket as she watched a movie with her siblings. They were watching Spiderman: Into the SpiderVerse for the millionth time. It was one of Tenn’s favorite movies so whenever he could convince them they would sit down and watch it. Tenn’s eyes were glued to the screen as he watched the different heroes face off against Kingpin. His body leaned forward and his arms wrapped tighter and tighter with each second of the film. Sophie wasn’t paying much attention to the TV; her focus was entirely on her sketchbook.
The sound of her pencil racing across paper could be heard faintly behind the loud action scene. When they had started this watchthrough of the movie, Sophie had been hit with a bolt of inspiration. Quickly mumbling that she was drawing different people from Ericson Diner with their own superspider designs, she’d gotten completely lost in her art, only occasionally glancing up before being hit with another wave of inspiration. They were getting towards the end of the movie when Minnie leaned forward to grab the popcorn only for a drink to be tipped over, the contents of which landed directly on her blanket.
“Shit!” Minnie jumped up to her feet, causing her siblings to also stir and look over with concern. Sophie haphazardly tried to grab the remote, pausing the movie after a minute.
“Are you okay, Minnie?” Tenn looked back at his older sister who looked devastated by the event that had played out.
“I’m fine,” She let out a sad sigh, lifting up her blanket “I can’t say the same for my blanket though,” She carefully examined the stain that was forming where the drink had spilled. Renata had given her this blanket and now she had ruined it.
“Don’t worry, Minnie. We can wash it. “ Sophie walked over to stand beside her.
“I don’t want it to get damaged or anything though,” Minnie had a worried expression on her face as she looked at her twin.
“That won’t be a problem,” Sophie gently took the blanket from her sister’s hands before motioning Minnie to follow her to the laundry room. “If we use this setting and grab-'' Sophie grunted as she stood on her tippy toes to reach the laundry detergent, letting out a happy noise when she had succeeded, “Grab the unscented tide pods,” Sophie glanced over at her twin who gave her approval before she tossed the blanket into the washer along with the detergent.
With a few button presses the washer began its progress, slowly spinning around the blanket.
“Is everything okay?” Tenn called from the back living room.
“Yeah, everything’s okay,” Minnie replied, walking back with Sophie so they could finish up the movie. They only had about fifteen minutes left which felt unusually long for Minnie as she waited impatiently for the washer to be done. When the credits had rolled the three siblings sat around for a moment, not sure what to do next.
“People are going to flip out when they see these,” Sophie carefully placed away her sketchpad with an excited smile.
“So, what do we do next?” Minnie asked, hoping her siblings would come up with some good ways to pass the time.
“We could do that art challenge that I’ve seen lately,” Tenn nervously fidgeted with his fingers as he spoke.
“Oh, which one?” Sophie immediately perked up whenever art was involved.
“It’s the one where one person draws someone in the room then they pass the paper to the next person who draws them and so on until everyone has been drawn,” Tenn explained the rules as carefully and clearly as he could, hoping his sisters would agree to the idea.
“Sounds fun to me! What about you, Minnie? You game?” Sophie looked over at Minnie who seemed less excited at the idea. Unlike her two other siblings she sucked at art, especially drawing.
“I don’t know,” She paused when she saw Tenn’s face fall. “Ok, I’ll give it a shot.”
Sophie and Tenn looked over at each other, overjoyed that Minnie had agreed. Sophie soon ran off to find some paper, returning swiftly with a handful of pencils and paper. Tenn was the first up.
After finding a good angle to draw from he started his sketch of Minnie. His eyes became laser focused on the paper as he drew. After ten minutes he turned around his paper, proudly displaying his art.
“That’s really good!” Sophie exclaimed, leaning forward to get a closer look.
“It really is,” Minnie agreed, impressed that he was able to get so many of her features right.
Tenn looked away, the smile on his face growing at his sisters' praise. Minnie was up next. Picking up the pencil she began her sketch what she was sure was going to turn out to be a disservice to Sophie’s face. Her tongue stuck out slightly as she concentrated on her sketch, erasing a section before trying again. After about fifteen minutes she had decided it was as good as it could be and reluctantly showed it to her siblings. Sophie grasped the paper, bringing it closer to her face.
“I love it,” She whispered, staring at her sister’s art.
“It’s hideous,” Minnie mumbled, falling back into the couch.
“I think it’s good,” Tenn offered his sister a gentle smile which she returned.
“I’ll be right back. I gotta add these to the collection,” Before Minnie could object Sophie was gone, her feet loudly banging on the steps as she ran upstairs. After a few minutes she returned, a huge grin on her face.
“Alright, I guess it’s my turn,” Sophie plopped herself back in her spot, snatching up the pencil as she stared at her brother. She studied his face for a few minutes before she started. Her pencil lightly brushed against the page as she worked, her eyes lighting up as she continued to draw. After around twenty minutes she dramatically turned around the paper, revealing a beautiful black and white sketch of Tenn. He looked so peaceful as a kind smile played on his lips.
“Holy shit, Soph, your art just keeps getting better and better!” Minnie exclaimed.
Sophie nervously played with her cap at Minnie’s compliment, a shy smile on her face. “Aw, thanks,”
Minnie paused when she heard the washer signalling that the cycle had been done. She got up from her spot and made her way over to the laundry room, switching the blanket over to the dryer.
“Make sure to put it on the gentlest cycle,” Sophie’s voice carried over from the back living room.
“Ok, got it,” Minnie double checked the setting. Starting up the cycle, she returned to her siblings.
“So what’s the next game?” Sophie kicked her legs lazily on the side of the couch.
“I could get my guitar and we could make up some songs,” Minnie offered to which her siblings immediately agreed. Getting up, she made her way to her room where her black acoustic guitar laid proudly on its stand. Securing the strap, she made her way back to where her siblings were already trying to come up with some fun lyrics.
“So how are we going to do this?” Minnie asked as she tuned her guitar.
We should each come up with one line of lyrics and then the next person goes until we complete a song.” Sophie suggested, sitting up from her spot.
“Alright,” Minnie took a few more minutes tuning her guitar then began to strum some notes for her siblings to start out the song.
“There once was a dog that was a poodle,” Tenn began to sing softly.
“He looked like a day old noodle,” Sophie sang out, not caring that her voice wasn’t any good.
“And he had buggy pupils,” Minnie added.
The song continued on from there. Each sibling struggled to find a good sentence to add to the song when it was their turn. After it had finished they decided to play a few more rounds which went just as well as the first time.
“Oh, Minnie, can you play that song you wrote the other day?” Tenn asked, leaning back in his chair as he hugged a couch pillow.
“Sure,” Minnie replied with a gentle smile on her lips. The song started out slow and quiet as Minnie’s voice gently entered in. Soon the whole room was filled with her singing as her siblings sat back, completely taken in by the song. After a few minutes the song had finished. Sophie quickly requested one of her favorite songs of Minnie’s. The three of them sat around, the melody of the guitar and the soft cadence of Minnie’s voice the only things audible in the room. Tenn and Sophie kept making requests until Minnie stated that she needed a little break. Her fingers absentmindedly strummed the guitar as she chatted with her brother and sister.
Suddenly she paused, the faint tune of the dryer cycle being done could be heard from the laundry room. “I hear it calling to me,” She gently placed down her guitar, rising to her feet. “Blankie!”
She was off like a shot, sliding across the floor as she entered the laundry room. She quickly opened up the dryer door, sweeping up the warm mess that was her blanket. She gave it a fast examination and noticed that the stain was gone. Moving it towards her face, she inhaled the blanket’s scent. Her nose was overcome with the sweet and spicy smell that she had grown so fond of: cinnamon.
It still smells like Renata.
The smile on Minnie’s face grew as she strolled to the back living room, happy that her blanket was okay.

Memory
"Wild shows everyone his new house in Hateno Village. (bonus points for mentioning a specific picture you get from the DLC or headcanon that the house Wild bought was his former home he grew up in 100 years ago)" -anon
Note: while this is a recent Anon ask, it is also an answer to the LU Discord's weekly prompt "favorite memory". While I could have been creative, this is honestly my favorite memory while playing any Zelda game, considering I was crying during it. Now, to watch Spiderverse...
-o-o-o-o-
Wild puts his hand on the handle of his door as the rest of the heroes stand behind him in anticipation. They had just come from Kakariko, meeting Impa and taking a short rest there. Wild had mentioned his house practically as just a days walk away and next thing he knew they were at Hateno. Not that he minds, he has been wanting to visit home for quite awhile now.
"It's probably a mess," he says as he turns the knob and opens the door with a creek, "but it's home."
The door swings open, revealing his bottom floor and small hums and excited gasps sound behind him. Wild finds himself being pushed out of the way as Wind scrambles inside. "It's so cute!" He says as he goes straight towards the dining table.
Wild walks inside after him and the rest are quickly right behind him.
"It's…" Twilight says, looking around the small house with wide and surprised eyes, and Wild knows exactly what he is trying to put into words. He's sure that everybody has expected him to live in a cave, or have no organization what's so ever. Twilight takes a few moments to think of his next word as the rest all spread out, looking at the weapon racks and decorations in interest. "It's homey."
"Thanks," Wild mumbles. He walks further into the house and heads over to his little kitchen area. "There's not much, but make yourself at home."
Legend sighs and pulls out a chair, leaning back into it looking content. "Don't mind if I do," he says.
Warrior joins him soon after and begins to munch on the small bowl of nuts set in the middle of the table while Time, Twilight, and Sky admire Wild's weapons that are hanging up. His special weapons he would never use for fear of breaking them.
The rest wonder around his house, looking at cupboards and shelves, which Wild doesn't mind. He has nothing to hide from anyone except from the stuff he already has packed up with him. He slips off his jacket and throws it at an empty dining chair before he rolls up his sleeves and starts rummaging through cubbies and barrels to make a satisfactory homemade meal. He decides a good batch of soup and bread would be enough for their hungry group of travelers and he begins to gather the materials that he has safely stored away.
He's just in the middle of rolling out bread dough when Wind calls for his attention. "Wild? Can I look upstairs?"
Wild turns around yet is careful of his hands, he doesn't want to get flour everywhere, and sees Four and Wind both standing at the bottom of his staircase, looking up. He thinks for a moment that he should say no, his more precious stuff is up there and if any of it broke he knew he would get upset, but Wild also knew that Wild and Four are just curious and can be careful when it matters. They were restless from sitting and waiting for dinner (though the others apparently aren't, Time is leaning back on a chair and snoring while Sky had rolled up Wild's hood and is using it as a pillow, leaning against the table. Legend and Warrior where telling jokes back and forth towards each other while Hyrule threw in his own every so often. Twilight is sitting outside, whittling a chunk of wood down while have a conversation with Karson and Bolson).
He sighs, knowing that if he doesn't give permission Wind and Four would probably sneak up there anyway. "Sure. Just don't break anything."
Wind makes an excited noise before he blasts up the stairs. Four at least had the decency to say: "Thanks! We won't!" before he followed after.
Wild closes his eyes for a second to take a deep breath before he turns back to the bread and rolls or a few more times. His anxiety spikes every few seconds when he hears a drawer open or something shift above him—they are both very curious to see how Wild lives, aren't they—but he soon gets back into the groove of preparing food.
Small chatter fills the dining room, masking the small snores of Time as he slept. A few minutes in, Hyrule stands up and stretches before he joins Twilight outside to talk with Bolson and Karson. Small giggles and sounds of interest came from upstairs, but other than that nothing really happens until Wild is placing a hot pot of soup and rolls onto the dining table.
It falls onto Legend to wake up Time and Sky and Warrior is tasked with grabbing Twilight and Hyrule. Wild looks up at the second floor and is about to call Wind and Four down, but then he hears a small whisper through the sounds of life around him.
"Do you think that's Mipha?" Wind asks.
Wild swallows and fear rushes through his limbs. His most precious thing, they must be looking at that. He has forgotten that he had it up there. He wipes his hands on his pants and starts up the stairs towards the second floor.
The first thing he sees is Wind and Four sitting on his bed, one at the head and the other at the foot. They are leaning over sometime placed in the middle, fingers gently pointing at different spots and their voices in small and curious whispers. Wild looks at his wall and sees an empty place.
He takes a deep breath and steps closer. "What are you doing?" He asks.
Wind flinches and Four nearly jumps out of their skin and they both whip around to look at Wild with wide and guilty eyes.
"Um, we were just getting a better look-" Four starts to explain but cuts himself off when another voice chimes in.
"Is everything okay?" Twilight asks. Wild turns around and sees the rest of the group all standing at the top of the staircase into the small bedroom. Twilight's eyebrows are drawn together as he studied the scene before him. Time has his arms folded across his chest, matching Twilight's expression while the rest are trying to get a better look by poking over each others shoulders.
Wild returns his gaze over to his bed and he walks towards it slowly. Wind and Four both back away slowly as Wild leans down and picks up the frame, holding it gently in his hands, looking for anything wrong with it.
"What is that, Wild?" Sky asks as he steps forward, and Wild wants to answer, but his voice is choked up and his hands are busy. He shakes his head and walks over to its place. The others remain silent as he places the frame back onto the wall, and he's thankful for their silence.
Finally he backs away and stares at the photo. Nobody speaks, and Wild realizes that that they are waiting for him to.
His hands come in front of him and he's ready to explain, but he then remembers that only Time would be able to fully understand him, maybe Twilight if he uses simpler signs. He clears his throat, hoping to round up some courage, but the thought of speaking only makes his stomach churn.
"It's-" he pauses when the sound of his own strangled voice reached his ears. He doesn't want to talk. He really doesn't, but he looks over at the others and sees their worried and patient faces and he knows that he owes it to them. They would let him stop, they would let him say leave it, and they would. They deserve a little bit of an explanation.
"It's… my most... precious memory," he says slowly. He hates how he croaks the words when just awhile ago he was fine with talking, his words clear and understandable. Now, they're mumbled and stuck in his throat. He'll be surprised if anyone understands him.
Recognition flashes in their eyes; Wild has told them about how he found his small stash of memories, each one is connected with an image, a picture. They must be realizing that the photo hanging on his wall was one of those pieces, one of his miniscule memories.
"Wild, I'm sorry," Wind says as he stands up from the bed. He folds his arms around himself as his face contorts into shame and regret.
Wild finds himself shaking his head. "It's… okay," he says slowly, and as he says it he realizes that it really is not. "It was a long time ago."
"Do you want to talk about it?" Hyrule asks. Twilight nods his head.
"We're here for you, Wild," Twilight says.
Wild looks and sees even Legend nodding his head in agreement. Warrior gives him a small smile.
He turns back to the photo, tracing each face with his eyes. He doesn't know these people, well, he knows Zelda. But he hardly does the others. He just has stitched together puzzle pieces that can't really be called remembering. He doesn't know Mipha, only that she loved him and she was kind. He doesn't know Ravali, only that his arrogance masked his loyalty. He doesn't know Urbosa, only that she was strong and a mother figure to Zelda, and in a way to himself as well. He doesn't know Daruk, only that he was brave and strong and never one for a frowning face. He… he doesn't know Link, only that he was supposed to be a hero.
"It doesn't matter," Wild says.
"It clearly does," Time speaks up.
Wild remains silent until suddenly he's pushed into someone's chest. His whole body stiffens but he finds himself relaxing as Twilight wraps his arms around Wild, holding him there, safe. Next thing Wild knows, Wind is squeezing in and so is Four. Time, Legend, Hyrule, Sky, Warrior… all of them join together into his small upstairs and gather in a group hug. Wild feels something in him burst and suddenly his shoulders are shaking uncontrollably and tears are streaming down his face. A hand runs through his hair and another pair tightens ever so slightly. He's crying, because it hurts so much. It hurts trying to remember the faces of one hundred years ago, it hurts stumbling upon gaps that he can't fill, it hurts feeling alone, it hurts to only know so little, it hurts…
When he finally catches his breath, when his eyes are finally dry, Twilight breaks the group hug ever so slightly to look Wild face to face.
"It's good to keep onto old memories," he says, "but you need to make new ones too."
Wild's eyes wet ever so slightly, but Twilight doesn't let the dam burst again. Instead, he takes Wild's hand and begins to lead him down the stairs and across the floor to the door. The rest follow, the soup and rolls remain forgotten.

"Okay~ skooch in closer Legend~"
"I am skooched in…" Legend mumbles but gets closer to Hyrule nonetheless.
Bolson rolls his eyes and Karson holds the Sheikah Slate in front of him as the group shifts again. Wild's heart is pumping harder than what it has for a long time.
"Time, you look angry, smile for me honey!" Bolson yells put, placing his hands on his hips and grinning ever so slightly. Time sighs and smiles, his eyes screaming is this enough?
"Perfect! Now~ everybody say Bolson!"
"Bolson!"

They take the slate to Purah and she makes enough copies for all of them. Wild hangs his up next to the Champion's Picture.
