most of the reason i feel like bruce enables vance’s violent tendencies so much is cause like… it’s honestly cathartic to watch. he never physically fights people if it isn’t in self defense because 1. he has a reputation to keep and 2. he cares way too much about his parents to do anything to disappoint them or drag their reputations down with him. so usually he just has to turn the other cheek to assholes even if he really REALLY wants to shut them up himself.

vance on the other hand has a 0.5 GPA and and is the poster boy for child neglect and unmedicated psychiatric problems. he has almost nothing to lose from tearing just about anybody a new one for breathing at him the wrong way. so when he does happen to go for someone bruce has wanted see get their comeuppance for a long time, well, it’s hard to try being the peacemaker in that situation rather than just silently watching from a safe distance and later on either subtly or blatantly encouraging it.

(and if vance just so happens to start going after all the same guys bruce complains about giving him a hard time… well no one has to know about that.)
