Random question about the “they should make persona for people who like good games” post. Do people think the persona series is that bad? I know they aren’t perfect but I wouldn’t call them bad games.
I had a wholeass essay written out before i realized im too tired to make it sound coherent. AND my only experience is p 4 and 5, so my opinion on it means jack shit. All i can say is that the most recent titles suffer from bad writing. (And repetitive gameplay, but thats a different issue). Be it poorly written characters and dialogue, or poorly written interactions and plot, it is hard to take some of the stuff in the more recent games at face value. One could argue that that just means the game is subpar, not necessarily bad, but thats subjective; bad means different things to different people. And i say this as someone who thinks this game is Not the best but still found it incredibly engaging and entertaining.
actually for a game with a plot revolving around "we're going to be gruesomely turned into mind controlling squidfolk if we dont find a cure" and aspects like "i got an engine forcibly put into my chest / my body was physically turned into that of a demon's against my will / my heart is an actual bomb and it will kill me as punishment / i was a slave who endured horrific physical abuse and my body was used for the benefit of the man who controls me" [actually all of these involve some manner of control and "discipline" now that i think abt it] there isnt NEARLY enough focus put on the actual concept of body horror and body autonomy its kind of like. just There. and it doesnt even all tie togther outside of like random convos between the characters and like i mean even thorm's whole fucking introduction involves the fact his body is unkillable like bg3 come ON man. you could be tying these themes togther so neatly so sweetly but [insert more rambling abt the issues with plot structure here]
Danzou based on a scene from a fanfic I love. (link here- It's only in Japanese)
I highly recommend it if you're able to read it, it does a wonderful job exploring the relationship between Limbo and Danzou and has a lot of good imagery. This scene is after Limbo places the self-destruction device in her womb... which he gouged out of a living girl along with other parts. Danzou wakes up draped in a kosode decorated with the auspicious symbol of flower-eating birds, in contrast to the curses in her body.
Not loving this increasingly weird behavior in fandom where they'll look at a female character behaving in certain ways and go "ooooh that's so hashtag girlboss, feminism wins uwu", but then you look deeper into it and she's actually just behaving out of fear or deep rooted trauma
Man I rly genuinely wish I could play CotC. The soundtrack is filled with absolute bangers amd the story seems genuinely interesting. But alas. It is a mobile gatcha game. And my brain cannot focus on mobile gatcha games to save my life even if the subject is my literal hyperfixation apparently? Like I've tried and it doesn't work lol
honestly this lil dance that the Eremite Clearwater does makes me never want to fight them, i still don’t understand why these guys are enemies 😭
like. it makes sense that treasure hoarders or the fatui would want to beat your ass on sight (treasure hoarders because they wanna rob you, fatui because. well.) but WHY DO THE EREMITE WANNA FIGHT YOU?? they’re just mercenaries, they only fight people they’re paid to fight, what is the reason for them being the enemies for this region!!!!
(it also never sits right with me, as a poc, that the eremites are some of the only few brown ppl in this game and most of them are trying to kill you… that was. certainly a choice.)
Right 💥💥💥 she is not able to gauge how weak or strong players are, she’s very much like, I can do it, why can’t you do it ? 🤔🤔🤔
not a good mindset to have..
she comes from a twilight forest server, shes survived on her own for a long time as a player, but grian comes from a community of friends, so there’s an obvious difference in their abilities.
she’s not gonna kill him or cause ~severe physical harm, but they don’t get along, u can see Why 😭
I had the great fortune to be tagged twice for incorrect quotes, so I'm going to do two posts because I love this stuff. This one is for the earlier tag from @sunset-a-story (and if you want a mini intro to these characters from Another Ocean's Moon, check out this blorbo blursday and this Avis & Sorian meme).
I'll pass the tag on to @vacantgodling, @sarahlizziewrites, and @outpost51, plus anyone who wants to join in.
Rules: use this generator to make some incorrect quotes.
Leon: You know, when I first met you I thought you were a real bitch.
Avis: What changed your mind?
Leon: Oh, I still think you're a bitch. I've just grown to like that about you.
Edith: I will find us a covered wagon and horses.
Edith: If you two can manage to not kill each other while I'm gone.
Avis: Oh, please. We're not children.
*Edith leaves*
Avis, casually: …Eat shit and die.
Leon, also casually: Yes, fuck you.
Leon: Where's Sorian?
Edith: Don't worry, I'll find him.
Edith, shouting: Avis sucks!
Sorian, distantly: Avis is the best person ever! Fuck you!
Edith: Found him.
Sorian: You know me, Avis, I don’t take any shit. You know what I say to my haters?
Avis: What?
Sorian: I say: “Please don’t hate me, I’m really nice.”
Avis: Yo dumbass, get over here.
Sorian: Okay-
Leon: *gleefully runs past* I’m coming!
Sorian, sadly: I thought… I was dumbass…
Sid: The first time I ever got upset in front of Avis, she put her arms around me and it was so awkward that I had to ask her if she was hugging me or reaching for something on the shelf behind me.
Avis: I was doing both, for your information.
Horatio: The first time Avis hugged me, it was such a disaster we didn’t make eye contact for, like, a week after.
Allison: Sometimes I drink milk straight from the container.
Sid: The cow??
Allison: What?
Celia: Sid, W H Y?
Police: You’re under arrest for trying to carry three people on a single motorcycle.
Celia, with Sid and Allison behind her: Wait, what do you mean THREE?!
Police: Yes…three.
Celia: Oh, my God— What the fuck!?
Police: Wha-
Celia: Horatio FUCKING FELL OFF!
7 vi but instead of food (i get the vibes your vi just straight up doesn't refuse food) crimes or drugs whichever you prefer
(for this ask game)
7. Lots of people don’t have a favorite food drug or crime when put on the spot, but what’s a food or drink drug or crime that your OC would never turn down if someone offered it to them?
...listen the conditions under which our Vi would refuse food are extremely specific but they do exist. Depending on the variant, you might hit that faster or slower, though it varies on the person offering it to her and the circumstances surrounding it. Wereweevil Vi, specifically, will absolutely fucking not refuse food under any circumstances, but she is an outlier and most other Vis actually have a point where they'll say no.
In terms of crimes and drugs... listen, Vi has a sense of self-preservation, and people absolutely don't just hand out drugs either For Free or For No Reason. Getting her to accept doing it is the hard part, if you're not already someone she trusts - what are you, a cop? Gonna tattle on her if she takes your offer? She does, actually, have a fair amount of trust in most of the Underground Tavern regulars, and would probably take up an offer for Illegal Actions if offered, because she trusts they won't try to fuck her over and will probably be willing to back her up if worst comes to worst.
If she's being, like, offered something to try and do, and it's someone she knows, then she has pretty decent assurance that her friends won't deliberately try and kill her, but she might still want to question if it's safe for her species, whether in a "this open job offer might not actually be open to a bug where almost everyone seeing her will immediately assume she's associated with the Bee Kingdom and might report them back to the queen" way or a or "whoever made this drug has never accounted for her species in test runs and there's a solid chance of her experiencing adverse side effects from it" way.
She's not entirely naive - she knows what she's doing, she knows it might be dangerous, and she's only really willing to assume the Tavern bugs have her best interests in mind because of experience. Unless she's being paid for it, she won't take up an offer from just anyone, and she has decent confidence in not getting fucked for taking the offer.
That said... in terms of drugs, the one (1) thing that she might consider getting from Random Unlicenced Sellers She Doesn't Know would be Daydream. Chronic pain reasons, as per usual. If it's getting to autumn and times she Knows that she's gonna run into more Bad Pain Days and her usual dealer's not got enough she might go hunting for another supplier, and in that case - yeah, she'll take random handouts and shady offers, and yeah, she'll probably get fucked over for it. Probably better than lying on the floor unable to do anything due to her body swinging a fire axe into her spinal cord that makes it feel like there's a white-hot rod of metal permanently impaled into her chitin and through half of her vital organs. She might reconsider if it's particularly shady and she's with Team Snakemouth, but being in horrible pain has a way of making you abandon your previous convictions in favor of not having to endure part of your body trying to violently kill you to death by making your entire nervous system fry itself with chronic pain.
With crime if you pay her enough then she'll do basically anything but for profit-free mischief, uhh. Listen if you walk up to her in a bar and say "hey, wanna vandalize something" then she'll probably agree before asking any further questions. Some day this will bite her in the dick but she will probably only learn "plan more when vandalizing things" from it.
Breaking my paladin oath in BG3 turned out very sexy, i like what they did with that. Badass oathbreaker knight shows up and is like “Oh, you’re a paladin who wants to make choices for yourself huh? let’s talk. you can take up your oath again, but you also have options now. sometimes you can do more good by embracing the shadows now and then.” i am enjoying myself immensely.
I've spoken briefly about this before and, again, it's usually something I leave in the little details of Charlotte's portrayal, but it's really been on my mind lately so I wanted to write out some of the prominent traits that continue to establish that, despite having gradually accumulated more experience, capital, and property over the years, Charlotte remains coded as working-class. It is crucial to both the narrative itself and her actual existence as a vessel for the primordial void, also known as Khaos. This means that she still has no ( legal ) credit cards and continues to thrift almost all her belongings, including her clothes, books, and furniture ( with the exception of shoes and appliances.) If you are someone who regularly meets up with Charlotte, you might begin to notice ( if you are perceptive ) that while she may be variably early, right on time, or show up in some unexpected state, she is rarely ever late and certainly never without a legitimate reason as to why. It is also not uncommon for Charlotte to juggle multiple jobs at the same time, and the only time she'll agree to a single job, at the exclusion of all other work is if she knows that that one job will be worth it. Related to this is the fact that Charlotte has a very hard time saying no to job offers; it's a habit ( read: stress response ) she is trying to unlearn, but it continues to be a struggle. Lastly, despite having successfully taken on leadership roles in the past, Charlotte expresses a strong dislike for being consigned to a "boss" role as she still much prefers to be hands on, in the action, at risk rather than sitting back and letting others do the work. She becomes restless if she finds herself "at the top" or in the position of too much obvious power; recall the adage about how it is lonely at the top, and how isolation is not something that the void's vessel can allow. She needs to be among people; she needs to be present to catalyze chaos. That being said, this doesn't mean that Charlotte simply allows herself to be treated or thrown away as a mere lackey or just another body, but that is still part of the struggle, isn't it?
