I have a groundbreaking concept.
A wedding episode/story where nothing unusual goes wrong (or even NEARLY goes wrong) and the audience and characters both just get to enjoy this big event without it going off the rails at any point.

Do you really think Darcy and Elizabeth would be happy together? It's one thing to not care if an insufferable aunt doesn't like your bride, but it's very different when friends and peers start treating him like an idiot for marrying an unimportant and "tolerable" country girl. Also when he realizes that Georgiana will not be getting the same suitors that he would expect.
That's why I think their marriage is not going to be all that. Don't get me wrong, I don't believe Darcy would start being cruel or disrespectful to Elizabeth like Mr Bennet was to his wife. But to continue happily married? I don't think so.
Oh I strongly disagree! I think Darcy and Elizabeth would be extremely happy in marriage.
As to the social consequences of his marrying a tolerable country girl, I'm not convinced that they would be so dire. The Bennets' ruin was averted through Lydia's marriage, I'm not sure it would be talked about much in the wider world. More to the point, he has a powerful family in whose interest it would be, once the Darcy/Elizabeth marriage happened, to make sure Elizabeth was accepted in all the right circles. They'd likely ensure that Lady C didn't do or say anything to spoil the family's standing. We know from some hints in the novel itself that, once push comes to shove, even those who don't like Elizabeth and may know something of the Wickham fiasco, are too afraid to lose the privilege of friendship with Darcy to continue being a nuisance about it (e.g. Caroline Bingley).
We also know that Elizabeth isn't really only tolerable. She's charming, attractive and clever. I genuinely think that she'd actually make quite a hit once let loose in Darcy's world.
Finally, there's Darcy himself. I'm conscious that people interpret his character very differently to me (e.g. they think he's shy or anxious or on the spectrum) so this is very much my interpretation but… going by some of the descriptions we have of his character, he just doesn't seem like the sort of guy to let himself be swayed much by popular opinion. E.g. in this bit, which takes place in Netherfield, when Darcy and Bingley discuss each other's character traits (paraphrasing):
Darcy: When you told Mrs. Bennet this morning, that if you ever resolved on quitting Netherfield you should be gone in five minutes, you meant it to be a sort of panegyric, of compliment to yourself […] but I am by no means convinced that you would be gone with such celerity. Your conduct would be quite as dependent on chance as that of any man I know; and if, as you were mounting your horse, a friend were to say, ‘Bingley, you had better stay till next week,’ you would probably do it—you would probably not go—and, at another word, might stay a month.
Elizabeth: You have only proved by this that Mr. Bingley did not do justice to his own disposition. You have shown him off now much more than he did himself.
Bingley: I am afraid you are giving it a turn which that gentleman did by no means intend; for he would certainly think the better of me if, under such a circumstance, I were to give a flat denial, and ride off as fast as I could.
In another conversation, he says himself that "[his] feelings are not puffed about with every attempt to move them."
He's just not a volatile sort of guy. He knows his own mind, he knows Elizabeth's merits, and (for all his faults) he's the sort of strong type A that would see it as his responsibiltiy to captain his ship out of any storm rather than abandon it or feel annoyed with it for having got into a storm.
I honestly struggle trying to imagine any set of events that would be at all likely, in which these two were anything other than deeply in love, delighted in each other’s company and devoted to one another.

Hi I hope you're fine :) I'd like to request a dabble with Doma and a female slayer. Like Mitsuri this slayer dreams of findind a husband who's stronger than her. So when Doma and the Slayer meet BOOM he falls in love, and when they fight he's like "you said you wanted a husband stronger than you. Well, here I am~". And now she has to deal with this motherfucker who's always following her around, fighting her (and winning) to try to win her heart. (thank you sorry this was long lol)
Tumblr media
douma's crush wants to marry someone strong
type: drabble
pronouns: she/her/herself
word count: 1449
content warning: mentions of blood, depictions of injury
a/n: hello! i literally could not think of a better title. but i did like this request. douma is a surprisingly easy character to write for, which was very surprising to be honest. but i do enjoy it. this was fun to finally get to and i hope it's enjoyable. it came out more yandere than i thought it would, but that's where my brain took me. idk, the demons with human readers often come off as slightly yandere.

.
.
She had said it once aloud.
He was a foolish hinoe, meant to accompany her in slaying a lower moon. His name was Taka… Takashi? No, it was Takahiro, she was sure now. He had dark hair and unremarkable features, he was shaking so terribly, sure that he would not survive the night. (Y/N) could not fault him for being afraid, that would be monstrous of her to be so apathetic, so uncompassionate.
Takahiro survived that night. Not on any merit of his own, but rather from sheer luck and the abilities of the hashira he had been assigned to, saving him from what would have been a terrible fate. (Y/N) had never minded saving her fellow demon slayers, it was not as though they could afford to keep bleeding numbers the way they did regularly. (Y/N) did not mind saving Takahiro, he was a good person who she was fond of, and thought deserved better than to die at the hands of some despicable demon.
His fear was not what made him foolish to her. But rather, it was what he did from the small courage he gained after surviving a deathly battle that caused her to always remember him as a fool. When he asked her to marry him.
It made her cringe to remember it now.
Perhaps, she should have said ‘yes’ and been a silly, foolish girl. Like some romantic, lovesick girl who allowed herself to get swept up by the first decent man to offer to marry her and live an ordinary life as some unimpressive man’s wife. But, (Y/N) would never have become a hashira if she was someone who aspired to live an unexceptional life and settle for less.
“I am sorry. I would only marry a man who is stronger than me.”
That was the only time she could recall ever voicing that notion aloud. There would never be another circumstance where she could imagine herself saying that. It was not as though she was proposed to everyday, nor that she needed to reject a marriage proposal and cite her reasoning. Instead, she kept it to herself and only reflected on her dream of a strong husband in her sleep.
Now, (Y/N) was bleeding. She was sure that she had some broken ribs. Her foot was sprained, and with each amount of pressure she kept putting on it by refusing to lie down and die, (Y/N) threatened to tear a ligament and detach it from the bone. There was a ringing in her ears, were they bleeding too? She could smell her own blood, her nose was not broken. Three of her fingers are, though, and she struggled to hold her sword in both hands. (Y/N) had never been so brutalized in a battle before. A part of her told her that this must be her time, this would be the demon who kills her.
At least it is an upper moon who would do her in. Upper two, no less.
She continued to hold herself up, despite her damaged internal organs and broken bones, determined to fight until the end. There would be no shame in dying then, (Y/N) told herself. It would be a worthy death of a hashira, even if she would never have her impossible dreams and hopes.
He had been playing with her for a while now, she had realized a while ago as she tried to steady her breathing enough to use her breathing style. (Y/N) had known that the strength of the upper moons was to be feared. While the ranks of the lower ranks had been changed over the millennia as the demon slayers had managed to kill them from time to time, the upper ranks had not. An upper moon had not been killed in hundreds of years. That was their power, their ruthlessness, their competency. Their strength.
“Nothing to say now?! No teasing of how you want to eat me like you did my Tsuguko, you bastard?!” It was a bit undignified of her to taunt this demon who watched her quietly, holding his fans to his face to hide his expression. But, she had hit her head pretty hard a while ago and she would be dying very soon. Dignity was not her greatest concern anymore.
(Y/N) tired of awaiting her death, took her final lunge at him in her fifth form. She watched as the demon finally moved, his fans prepared to deliver what is for sure to be the killing blow if she is lucky enough to have a quick death.
The blow did not hit her. She felt an impact, a gust of air that felt like a winter’s blizzard nipping away at her nose and cheeks, burning them red and wiping her hair uncontrollably. But, she did not feel as though she had been struck. (Y/N) still felt as though she was whole as she finished her final form.
Her nichirin sword had been cut in half, she realized all too late. She stood less than three feet from him, she could smell her dear successor’s blood on his lips (or was that still her blood she was smelling?) She stared at his chest, what remained of her blade was stabbed into his midsection, not that it was worth anything. (Y/N) could not bring herself to look up, only watching as her hands began to shake as she realized that she was really going to die.
The demon dropped its weapons, they were more than unnecessary now. She had no means of fighting back anymore, he could kill her in an instant with his bare hands. In lieu of ripping her apart, the upper moon brought his hand to cradle her chin, his long, painted nails trailing her jaw.
“Oh, my dear (Y/N), I have no doubt you would be quite delicious.” She felt him prick her cheek with one of those sharp nails of his, and a thin line of crimson blood ran down her cheek. His grasp was as strong as he expected, (Y/N) was powerless to escape his grasp and her will to fight him waned. He lifted her, he was very tall she now realized, bringing her closer to him by the grip on her face. (Y/N) dared to look up at him. He was more human-looking than most demons she had slain before, but inhumane all the same. With that pale skin and those rainbow pastel eyes. His tone was so jovial and light-hearted, “but why would I waste such a perfect bride?”
(Y/N)’s eyes snapped open, painfully wide as though she had awoken from a nightmare. Her ears were still ringing, they were probably bleeding, she would have thought she went deaf but she heard him with perfect clarity. He was so close she could feel his breath, and he spoke so gleefully. There had to be some mistake, though. This demon couldn’t have called her a bride?
His free hand ripped what remained of her sword from his chest cavity and tossed it aside. He wrapped his arm around the underside of her thighs and lifted her from her tiptoes to his eye level, her feet hanging pitifully in the air, her body pressed up against his, as though they were lovers embracing. His other hand wandered from her chin to her cheek to her hair, an attempt at affection, she decided. The upper moon smiled so widely, he closed his colorful eyes and exposed the fangs of his teeth with his grin.
“You said that you wanted a strong husband.” The memories of that foolish boy, the battle with a lower moon, her miraculous victory, and her rejection of his proposal flooded back to her. She had never told anyone else that she desired a husband stronger than her, never said those words aloud before or again after that. Had he been there that day? If he hadn’t been, then this demon could read her very thoughts. “Oh, my poor (Y/N), you don’t have to be sad anymore. I am here now, the husband you desired.”
The pale-haired demon, Douma, pressed a kiss to her cheek where his sharp nail had nicked her earlier. She was surprised when she did not cringe from his touch, instead she only subconsciously surrendered. (Y/N) was so exhausted and her mind was so disorientated, but a dark part of her was just grateful that she was not going to die. That in a sick way, she was safe.
He licked the trail of blood as he pulled away. “So sweet, my little bride.”

Commentary under the cut!
1. Moonlit Winter / 윤희에게 (1hr 45m, 2019, dir. Lim Dae-hyung) - IMDB | MyDramaList
Tumblr media
This movie is about a daughter (Kim So-hye) who finds out about her divorced mother’s (Kim Hee-ae) past with another woman (Katase Jun), and how in encouraging her mother to reconnect, the two finally open up to each other as well. Dry stuff on paper, but there’s more to it: the mother and her former lover didn’t just break up, they were split apart by their families as teenagers and the mother was forced to marry a man against her will. In short, it deals with the aftermath of the typical “bad ending” of older stories featuring WLW characters, wherein schoolgirls in love would be separated and married off to preserve the heteronormative status quo.
Although the queer relationship does not get much screentime at all – the two characters share a single scene, there are no flashbacks, and there’s not even a hug – queerness remains at the heart of the movie. It’s a rare depiction of how the repression of queerness leaves scars on people which affect how they engage with the world, but which also shows that as long as they are alive, there is still hope that those scars can be healed. Also, despite the heavy-sounding subject matter, it’s a very gentle experience: there are no direct depictions of homophobia and no sensationalism, just a little story of human connection unfolding in a snow-cloaked Hokkaido.
2. Professor Marston and the Wonder Women (1hr 48m, 2017, dir. Angela Robinson) - IMDB
Tumblr media
The blurb on IMDB says that this movie is about “psychologist William Moulton Marston (Luke Evans), and his polyamorous relationship with his wife [Elizabeth] (Rebecca Hall) and their mistress [Olive] (Bella Heathcote) who would inspire his creation of the superheroine, Wonder Woman”. As someone who is not particularly drawn to biopics, male protagonists, polyamory, BDSM, or Wonder Woman, I assumed that this movie wouldn’t be my jam and so didn’t watch it until quite a while later – which is when I discovered just how wrong I was.
First, the two women take up just as much of the movie’s focus as Marston. Elizabeth, Marston’s wife and fellow psychologist, is highly intelligent but equally highly-strung; she does not know how to deal with her husband’s attraction to new research assistant Olive, nor Olive’s attraction to both her husband and Elizabeth herself, and this internal conflict (even after the three enter into a polyamorous relationship) features heavily in the story. Second, although it declares itself to be “based on a true story”, the movie is not especially interested in recreating or representing the past. Rather, the historical elements are used as a framework to explore certain ideas: Diana’s Lasso of Truth symbolises how progress and healing must be first founded upon honesty, for example. The polyamory and BDSM is also not at all sordid or sensationalised, but rather presented in a nuanced (though still sexy!) manner. More than anything, this is a movie with a big heart and big ideas, and should be judged on its own merits.
3. Who's the Woman, Who's the Man / 金枝玉葉 2 (1hr 50m, 1996, dir. Peter Ho-Sun Chan) - IMDB | MyDramaList
Tumblr media
All you need to know going into this sequel of 1994 movie He's a Woman, She's a Man (金枝玉葉) is that main character Wing (Anita Yuen) is a woman who has found both fame and (heterosexual) love while disguising herself as a male idol, and that her relationship with record producer Sam (Leslie Cheung) is known to the general public— although it is perceived as being homosexual in nature due to her persona. At this point, you might be wondering why an M/F romantic comedy is on this list, but this movie is a bit odd in that instead of focusing only on problems such Sam’s internalised homophobia and misogyny (both of which are addressed in the story), one of the new obstacles facing the couple is the female lead meeting female pop star Fong Yim Mui (Anita Mui)… and both starting to fall for each other.
I was surprised at how sensitively Wing and Fong Yim Mui’s respective arcs are handled, especially for a mainstream movie from the 90’s starring two of Hong Kong’s most popular performers at the time. Instead of giving the two women a meet-cute and leaving it at that, a lot of care is put into showing them processing and coming to terms with their feelings in their own time. Romantic and sexual attraction is also highlighted separately, which is refreshing given how they are usually depicted as inextricably linked even now… Obviously Wing and Fong Yim Mui don’t end up together, but their feelings aren’t dismissed and – relative to the narrative constraints – the ending is a warm, optimistic one. Also, Anita Mui gives an absolutely award-worthy performance in one of the scenes with her character and Wing, so fans of her should definitely give this movie a try.
Important note: Although there’s much that’s good about it, Who's the Woman, Who's the Man is far from perfect. Early on, there’s a masquerade party where two of the characters are wearing masks which look like racist caricatures, and the masks are crop up in multiple scenes in the film. More serious is the subplot about a male character who keeps trying to win over a lesbian, culminating in her agreeing to sleep with him once while he’s dressed as a woman (CW: transphobia, homophobia) – though this storyline ends with the man accepting that she really is gay and parting on friendly terms. That said, these problems are already mild compared to the actively hateful transphobic and homophobic jokes present in so many of its contemporaries, so if you’ve watched a 90’s Hong Kong comedy before, chances are that your tolerance level is more than high enough.
4. Sisterhood / 骨妹 (1hr 37m, 2016, dir. Tracy Choi) IMDB | MyDramaList
Tumblr media
Sisterhood opens with tragedy. Originally from Macau, main character Sei (Gigi Leung) is living quietly in Taiwan with her husband after the 1999 Handover when her life is overturned by a newspaper personal ad informing her that her long-estranged friend and colleague Ling has passed away. The movie is shot through with flashbacks to earlier times, tracking a young Sei (Fish Liew) as she starts doing sex work and is taken under the wing of the more experienced Ling (Jennifer Yu) and her friends. Memories of togetherness and community are juxtaposed against sequences of present-day Sei struggling to navigate her grief, the tensions of the now-fractured friend group, and a Macau that has changed just as much as she has. The acting and script can be clunky in places but the sentiment shines through, especially after the first third, at which point the movie starts honing in on Sei and Ling’s relationship. It’s not a happy story, but nor is it defined by sadness; instead, it posits that the past is not merely to be mourned, that it is instead something that can shape and provide a foundation for the future. I won't talk too much about how queerness figures into this story, due to spoilers, but rest assured that it is present and important!
5. D.E.B.S. (1hr 31m, 2004, dir. Angela Robinson) - IMDB
Tumblr media
Okay, you've probably heard of this one before if not watched it already, but anyway! This was the first WLW movie I watched, and for a long time, the only one which I actually enjoyed. It’s about an elite spy (well, more like an honours student at spy school) (Sara Foster) and a criminal mastermind (Jordana Brewster) falling for each other, a premise which is just as fun and over-the-top as it sounds. The movie does a great job of mixing action, humor, and romance, and it doesn’t overstay its welcome – it’s got a nice compact runtime and a cracking pace. There’s still nothing quite like it in my opinion, though I’m very welcome to any recommendations in this line (my askbox is open if you have any!).
6. Farewell, My Queen / Les adieux à la reine (1hr 40m, 2012, dir. Benoît Jacquot) - IMDB
Tumblr media
Loosely based on Chantal Thomas’ novel of the same name, Farewell, My Queen is a portrait of French nobility in decline, following maidservant Sidonie Labarde (Léa Seydoux) who is in the service of Marie Antoinette (Diane Kruger). It's a beautiful, lavish production which effectively conveys the perspective of a servant locked in the gilded cage that is Versailles during the French Revolution, and is a rare case of a historical figure as famous as Antoinette being presented as queer in a serious historical drama.
That being said, the queerness is mostly background, coming mainly in the form of Antoinette’s crush on? relationship with? duchess Gabrielle de Polignac (Virginie Ledoyen)— though a case can be made for Sidonie, whose outward opacity belies an unwavering, almost unsettling, devotion to her queen. Also, be warned that the movie has many a dodgy shot of cleavage, and two instances of unnecessary and voyeuristic nudity... but other than that, it really does have gorgeous cinematography.
Fun fact: there really were rumours about Antoinette having a scandalous relationship with the duchess, although these have nearly always been written off as baseless reputation-smearing.
Bonus - short film: Love Does Human / 사람 하는 사랑 (24 mins, 2019, dir. Oh Seon-ju) - MyDramaList
youtube
Some say that the best science fiction puts a spotlight on some part of the human condition, and this short film does just that. Main character Tae Eun's (Kim Min-ju) girlfriend Joo An (Jang Sam-yi) no longer has a human body: after carrying out a medical operation which transferred her consciousness to a computer system, she now has a web-camera for her eyes, a speaker for her mouth, and control over their home's devices for her hands. And although the change was by Joo An's choice and Tae Eun was supportive, the pair struggle to adjust to this new reality, and are confronted with the need to communicate and to consider each other's perspectives. Love Does Human has a bit of a slow start, and there were points where I didn't understand why the characters were reacting in a certain way, but it all comes together beautifully in the end. Through its sci-fi premise, viewers are encouraged to think about real-life problems using a different angle, and the movie never gets too heavy. Also, shoutout to some excellent voice work from the two actors - Joo An is performed nearly entirely through voice but she feels deeply human and present, and Tae Eun's actor also has a standout scene featuring some great voice acting. All in all, it's a short film that's well worth checking out (especially since the director has made it available for free, with English subtitles, on Youtube - embedded above)!

Sarah Z released a new video on Buffy Season 6 - looks like she isn't the only one doing a recent Buffy binge, great minds Sarah! Given her long track record as a Buffy lover I give her props for finally going all in and making a project of it. As is going to be a surprise to no one, I am pretty middling on this video - lets go to the random thoughts:
--- My first comment on this was going be a bit of a question mark around its title, "In Defense of Buffy's Most Hated Season". Season 6? Most hated? Sure you not thinking of Season 4? Or Season 1? Season 6 is very consistently ranked as a higher Season by most - no Season 5 or 3, sure, but normally top 3 or 4. Its a bit of a "cultural baggage" idea - because of, hm, reasons, it was an extremely controversial season back in the day. But removed from its airing that drama faded away, and particularly given that season 6's musical episode is one of the most lasting legacies of the show, now it stands on its merits and is generally liked. Sarah even almost accidentally cops to that with one of her example reddit posts, from a Season 6 hater but who frames that as a hot take:
Tumblr media
However, looks like we agree, because Sarah changed the name of the video! Now its called "You Should Watch Buffy Season 6". I respect and empathize, honestly, realizing the cultural consensus has changed can take some time.
--- For a movie review about defending Season 6, it actually spends half of its analytical run-time criticizing it. And I was not swayed by these - which I am sad about, I have my critiques of the season too. Just trying to explain why the following thoughts are about criticisms, given the title.
--- Does anyone out there interpret Riley's departure in Season 5, and one-episode return in Season 6, as Buffy "losing a good man, and being shown the life she could have had married to him if she didn't screw up"? Because that is what Sarah thinks, and that to me is a buck wild take. Riley is not a subtle character, its pretty much a defining trait of his. Pretty sure his departure in Season 5 is him leaving a bad relationship, that is bad for him and Buffy, and Buffy realizing too late that she was letting pride and self-involvement get in the way of fixing it. Not that it necessarily could be fixed, or should be, just that that was the source. And in season 6 - this to me can't be any clearer - Riley's point in returning is to highlight that he, who was in an awful place in Season 5, got better. He got over it. He's strong even when he doesn't look it. And Buffy is too. She will get over it. Its why she breaks up with Spike at the end of the episode - Buffy realizes she is still strong, she can be way she 'used' to be. It does not forgive Riley's mistakes, or is even about any of that? This is a very weird take. Honestly I want to know if others have this take, tell me if you do.
--- This very weird take by the way comes from the "misogyny" moments that the video constantly alludes to, which tie back into Joss Whedon's behavior, which I want to flag here. I'll admit that from what I have seen of the evidence, while Joss does come off like a huge asshole on set, I actually haven't seen much of a case for a lot more than that. Some people see him as this like uber-predator and I don't know where that is coming from. So I might be biased a bit here, lacking that heft of conviction.
But I still think this is generally correct - someone's personal behavior is an extremely imperfect reflection of their writing chops. Some of the most insightful prose of all time was writing for crass monetization; serial abusers have written, in spades, the most complex and well-realized victim protagonists. Writing is a skill, not a morality trait. Personal action impacts writing, sure, but not in ways that *align* with morality. The fact that Joss Whedon was an asshole on set does not mean the writing on Buffy reflects misogynist abuse. Xander isn't a misogynist - when he is mad at Anya for sleeping with Spike he is portrayed by the narrative as a clear asshole. Riley isn't portrayed as a perfect boyfriend, dude fucking pays vampires to bite him! This all in your head! You don't have to like prove Joss Whedon is a bad dude through textual analysis. His work can still be #girlboss feminism, there is no contradiction there.
--- This will be brief, but I feel like we are past the weird 2010's hiccup of thinking "fridging" is a problem, right? This is about Tara's death, ofc. Stories aren't real life, in stories some characters are way more important than others. Side characters exist, very often, to further the arcs of those main characters. One of them dying as part of a main character's arc is completely normal. Its weird I feel I have to explain this; I don't really, right? Tara is not killed off on a whim; she dies because Willow has a season-long arc of tipping over the edge on magic power, its a lot about her relationship with Tara, and her death pushes her over the brink. I'll admit I find Dark!Willow's execution to be a bit weak, but that's its own problem; the motive is solid. This is how stories work.
--- Additionally, I think there is a big, but a bit unnoticed, shift in what "works" in media around character deaths. When Joss Whedon killed Tara in Buffy - and more notably killed Wash in Serenity - he was doing a deliberate "no one is safe" thing. It became a meme, actually!
Tumblr media
Meme-ing about Joss Whedon man, right there in the garbage dumb of the past alongside Harry Potter memes shitting on Twilight thinking its the better franchise; life comes at you fast. But anyway this was a "big thing" to happen - audiences were shocked by it! It had dramatic impact.
Then Game of Thrones happened and this got turned up to 11, and the general plot twist even more of a meme. But meanwhile, TV changed in the background; entire seasons were getting dumped at once on streaming, everything was becoming "high context" with actors live tweeting their own set experiences, fandoms got more involved and contextual, "water-cooler" shows everyone was talking about faded due to audience separation, all sorts of shit. Which meant that the "kill a main character" thing stopped being powerful - it was overplayed, spoilers were more common, it didn't "air" as a standalone episode everyone talked about. The reason to kill off a character to raise the stakes faded away.
Which means when people go back and say things like "oh I loved Tara why kill her", its...well for one Amber Benson wanted to leave the show. But additionally you can't see the power it had in 2002. TV was different then, it wanted different things.
--- To give something positive, while I think Spike's attempted rape of Buffy is a strong writing choice - very in character for Spike, and its fine that it is primarily about his arc and not Buffy's because its a story, that is how these things work - I do agree that Buffy's response to the event is just not explored enough. It comes up multiple times of course, even in Season 7, but it also gets swamped by plot events in Season 6 with Willow, its not given room to breathe.
This imo relates to the fact that the pacing of the event is a bit wonky - Spike & Buffy had been on the outs for many episodes at that point, there wasn't this strong inciting incident for it. If it had happened much closer to their breakup, in a more focused arc, it would have had more narrative impact and allowed time for both of them to respond to it. I get that they had a lot of plot balls to juggle at that point, but still, missed opportunity I think.
Okay I had more thoughts but I am tired, I think that covers my most interesting complaints/observations anyway.

Poast about the "fucking some guy" saga behind the scenes because I can't shut up about it :]
The idea of this series started as just some Maul porn (possibly as a kinda flashback in what became They finally fuck each other this time) where he fucks a guy. Originally i was thinking of going with a twi'lek because they're what we see as sex workers the most in canon, and also the idea of them having two dicks (to match the two headtails) entertains me
As mentioned before, the base of They finally fuck each other this time is actually a wip I've had for Months and didn't know where to go with
There was a scene in the wip where Obi-Wan gives Maul a patdown to check if he's really unarmed, but it was not homoerotic enough and felt kinda out of place and out of character so I cut it
(There were also supposed to be more scenes with Bo-Katan, but once again. did not fit well enough.)
There was gonna be a scene like right after they fuck where Obi-Wan gets a call from the Jedi Council because he's been gone and out of contact for Hours so of course they're worried. and he's like. "oh don't worry I was just having a conversation with a slightly paranoid possible new ally. nothing much going on :) " [<- his neck is visibly covered in hickeys and bite marks]
[yoda voice] some bacta you need. terrible post coital manners your new friend has.
The original original idea continues well after where I ended the series, and involved Maul being imprisoned after Bo-Katan gets the throne except he's put in like. a ray-shielded apartment. and Obi-Wan has to live with him. because there's no way simple technology can keep a Force user imprisoned so they should have a jedi guard him, and Bo-Katan asked him so nicely, how could he possibly refuse to submit to the torture of living a domestic life with his nemesis with benefits.
And from then on it's all just. silly gay slice of life.
Like.
Very awkward jedi visits because everyone wants to see how Obi-Wan is doing but they're all distrustful of Maul even though he's just. vibing in his corner. sipping tea or reading a book. ignoring everyone staring at him.
VERY awkward Anakin and Padmé visit because he Senses she is pregnant and the children (he can feel it's twins) are Force-sensitive and he's like. well that's Interesting [<- doing his best not to bring up the topic of fucking jedi]
(the visit slowly turns into talking about the merits of leaving the Jedi Order for love and how that's totally fine and not a betrayal of one's morals and if someone wanted to stop being a jedi to go marry a senator and become a father that would be totally fine Anakin we would all be so happy for you. hypothetically.)
A mandalorian tries to "jailbreak" Maul but he's like. I'm fine where I am, so no thank you. and this probably happens like once a month.
Arguing about tea (it's like a hobby for them) (force help anyone who visits them during these arguments, they WILL force people to take sides)
And more!

A rant all about how Nya's character was ruined.
This summarizes and extends upon a conversation had on this post, by @parachutingkitten
Nya's entire character in Seasons 1-4 was about her being strong on her own merits and independent and being her own person, instead of being what others expect of her or trying to imitate her peers' strengths. She even deliberately turned down the chance to check if she was destined to be the prestigious Green Ninja, because she was happy with being a Samurai instead, cause that was the identity and strength she built for herself.
The uniqueness in her skillset and role on the team was in itself a crucial part of what MADE her character strong and independent. It was a path she chose for herself in contrast to any of the outside influences she had.
Season 5 making Nya a Ninja, especially under Wu's insistence and explicitly against her will, sabotages every part of all of this.
Now She's a shell of her former self with everything that made her character actually interesting either stripped away outright or turned into a bland and weak facsimile. All she has left to give her even a modicum of character depth is some vague sense of independence that is constantly shown-not-told and/or outright undermined.
She rightfully gripes about being forced to be the gray Ninja in seasons 6 and 7, but both seasons then proceed to deliberately undermine her independence, with Season 6 ending with her will being overridden by Jay's and Genie magic, and Season 7 introducing a new Samurai X.(Which I have more to say about later.) Nya's discontent with her situation gets dropped entirely, with Nya effectively resigning to her fate.
From then until all the way in Seabound, there's no pushback against her independent nature to highlight that she IS strong or independent, and nothing else to give her any other character depth. She literally becomes a glorified water fountain that also happens to be married to the electric one.
And then Seabound is somehow even WORSE.
Seabound's ENTIRE plot is literally summarized as "Nya getting screwed over by her powers: The Movie." Powers that she wasn't originally supposed to have, mind you, not just out-of-universe, but as this Season reveals, apparently IN-universe. (I don't even KNOW what that's about.)
The story yet again does an ass job at portraying Nya as independent and then screws her over. Yet even worse than Seasons 6 and 7, because it literally amounts to her being mildly annoyed at her mother's presence and the brain-dead arc-phrase of "I don't like crumbly cookies," culminating in her resigning to her apparent fate yet again and literally sacrificing her sense of self and identity to her elemental powers.
Seabound's ending is frankly one big metaphor for what Season 5 did to her character.
They also, weirdly consistently, screwed Nya's character using Pixal. Prior to Season 8, she was flat as cardboard and yet was undeservedly given the Samurai X mantle. Then the Season 8/Movie redesign traded in Nya's iconic and unique hairstyle for one literally identical to Pixal's. And Pixal even stole Nya's role as the Mechie,(despite already being the techie) a field where she reaches ridiculous heights by the time of Crystalized. (Speaking of which:)
Crystalized puts a cherry on top of this character-assassination sundae by finally separating Nya from that accursed element, and having her even make the choice to take back her Samurai X identity, but then it, despite the main threat of the 2nd chapter literally being the exact situation where Samurai Nya should be MVP, randomly proves pointless and ineffective, forcing Nya to come running back to her elemental powers. (Even worse, for the sake of CRYING FOR HELP.)
It's like she has some kind of toxic relationship with the element of water that fate and the writers are actively pushing and preventing from being severed.

(another spm thing haha I should actually play the game at some point also I read your entire dimentio doc and I LOVED IT) why do you think Luigi is the ideal host for the Chaos Heart?
Oh, glad you liked it, thank you! As for your question, it's a good one, but... I don't know if I really have a great answer on it. Let's start with some important information about the Chaos Heart. Its name in the original Japanese is the "Love Power of Chaos". This is significant because it tells us a lot more about the type of thing it is. Throughout Super Paper Mario, it is repeatedly emphasized that the power of pure love is capable of... well, just about anything. Reviving the dead, restoring the *beyond* dead, bringing worlds back from non-existence, even defying fate itself.
But that power isn't a purely positive one. Love at its core is passion, it's caring about someone, it's a bond between hearts. But that care isn't always mutual, benevolent, or healthy. Obsession is a kind of love, unhinged devotion a kind of care. But it's a different kind of love, something corrupt. Chaotic love. Where pure love is a thing of light and restoration and possibility, chaotic love is a negative power, associated with destruction, darkness, inevitability, and madness. So when Peach and Bowser completed the worst marriage ever, that is why the Chaos Heart was born.
(Side-note: The fact that he would later try to marry her again in Super Mario Odyssey does suggest it's a one-time occurrence that wouldn't happen if they got married a second time, which in turn probably means the specific circumstances of the wedding in SPM and/or the Dark Prognosticus's prophecy played a part in things, but to what extent is unclear.)
Now, the other thing about the Chaos Heart is it's weirdly parasitic in behavior. We know from Count Bleck's tattle that it grants certain powers (presumably related to dark magic) to its bearer, as well as placing a protective barrier around them. But unlike the Purity Heart, it needs a host to continue existing, disappearing if they die and fleeing a mortally injured host. It makes sense that the Chaos Heart would get along with Count Bleck. He's a man haunted by overwhelming grief, swimming in the exact sort of chaotic love from which the Chaos Heart was made. Dimentio's ego could suggest a narcissistic form of chaotic love is at play with him as well. But then where exactly does Luigi come into this?
Some theorize that he's a perfect host for the Chaos Heart because he wasn't actually Luigi at the time, he was Mr. L. This doesn't really work, as Dimentio only refers to him as "man in green" in the Japanese version of that scene, with Mr. L's name just being invoked in the English localization for some reason. There might be some merit to the idea that he wasn't truly Luigi at the time, but by that metric, he also wasn't... anyone. In Japanese, Dimentio specifically says the Dark Prognosticus predicted Luigi's *body* was the "perfect vessel" for the Chaos Heart. This, along with the fact that Luigi spends his entire time as part of Super Dimentio with his mind overwritten, weirdly kind of implies that his mind and so his personal connection to chaotic love might be irrelevant to what makes him a good host for the Chaos Heart.
However, since that matter is rather unclear, it's worth looking into another popular theory that does touch on the actual mind of Luigi and what chaotic love he may feel. Namely... the universe is not always kind to our plucky plumber in green. He's far less popular than his brother, often the butt of circumstance's jokes, and often disrespected by those around him. Some believe that this has created a repressed jealousy within Luigi for his brother, such that even though he loves his brother deeply, there is a wellspring of chaotic potential beneath it. And... this is a good idea to explore in fan works, there's a lot to dive into, fascinating interpretations you can make of Luigi's character through that lens, but from a canonical perspective, it's just not very supported.
For one thing, you never see it explored in the game. Super Paper Mario features one of the most confident showings of Luigi we've ever seen. Luigi never expresses dissatisfaction in his relationship with his brother, and he isn't even really mocked or negatively compared to Mario, at least not in any way that's given much thematic weight. Heck, even as Mr. L, who's lost all his memories and been hypnotized into a whole new purpose and identity, he still develops a brotherly connection through Brobot. And looking to other games, we continue to see their brotherly bond as not only positive, but aspirational.
Starlow comments on how much they trust each other. On Star Hill, wish is to be a great plumber like Mario. In Dream's Deep, we see his thoughts and feelings toward his brother laid bare, and they're all supportive and positive. Mario and Luigi's relationship may not be perfect, no relationship can be, but from all indication those two are about as close as you're gonna get. The closest we ever really get to a hint of a negative side to Luigi's perception of Mario is in Luigi's diary in PM64, where he says it's unfair that Mario went on an exciting journey alone. In other words... he's upset that he didn't get to go along and spent time adventuring with his bro. Hardly a statement of resentment. So the resentment theory analytically seems to fall flat as well.
This leaves only two real options of which I'm aware, and they're kind of the least narratively satisfying ones. One is that it's just a mystery and we don't know why, and the other is that it's true because it's what the Dark Prognosticus predicted. He's the perfect host because destiny says so. There is quite some evidence that the Dark Prognosticus itself is the reason many of its prophecies occur, and indeed that it may be what forces them to, but for a case such as how suited a person is to being the vessel of a very specific kind of dark power... well, like I said, it's not especially satisfying as a conclusion. So this is kind of a roundabout way of saying I'm not sure there is a definitive answer here.

okay I’m gonna do my best to explain all my thoughts on the “Quinn running away” theories without rambling- I’ve been hyperfixated on this specific topic for a few days because I have SO many thoughts and there’s SO many theories floating around there- like seriously so many… The main two I keep seeing though are “Quinn is having second thoughts/cold feet about marrying Logan” and “Quinn is overwhelmed by how over the top/perfect the wedding is and wants something more relaxed so she runs away”
I want to preface this by saying these are all my personal opinions and thoughts and obviously I have no idea what's actually going to happen in the movie and I could be completely wrong in absolutely everything I'm saying. This is just based off my years of analyzing these characters and having my own theories and thoughts about them and from the last week of analyzing the trailer.
First theory: Quinn is scared to marry Logan. I don’t believe it for a second and I never have. There’s just no evidence to support that at all. In every single shot we see of Quinn and Logan together in the trailer, they look disgustingly in love and happy and they’re hanging all over each other. And why after 15 years, probably months of planning, multiple wedding related events, etc would Quinn suddenly change her mind at the altar. I’m not saying that hasn’t happened and that it can’t, I just don’t think it would make much sense. I don’t believe she’s running out on Logan.
Second theory: Quinn is overwhelmed by how over the top and extravagant the wedding is and feels like it’s not right for them so she runs away from the wedding, not from Logan specifically.
I’ll admit, this theory has merit and it’s one that I could be interested in seeing play out and I entertained it for like half a day but the more I thought about it, the less it started to make sense to me. I’m really about to show how unhinged I am and have been towards this trailer 💀 I don’t really buy into this theory because I don’t see Quinn being the kind of girl that would just stay quiet and not voice her opinions and state what she wanted, especially about something as important as her wedding day. And Logan would also know her well enough to know what she would and wouldn’t want. Like off the bat this theory, to me, insinuates that Quinn and Logan are the kind of couple that don’t really communicate and we know that’s not the case. Also, even if the wedding plans did start to become too much for Quinn during the midst of it all, I don’t see her waiting until the day of the wedding to be like “nah this is too much”. Because it does look like she’s in the official wedding dress when she’s running. We see two dresses in the trailer, the one she’s running in and the strapless one that the statue/cake/whatever it is is based on. She’s wearing that dress in the same scene we see the statue in. So if the theory is Quinn is overwhelmed, runs out, Logan proposes again, then a second more toned down wedding, then I feel like the dresses should be switched?? And again, in all the shots we see of them, Quinn looks incredibly happy. Idk this theory just unravels for me the more I think about it.
I’m actually kind of thinking that that scene really isn’t even anything major and it was included in the trailer as a red herring to get us talking lmao
Also, I think it would make sense narrative wise to have Quinn and Logan be stable and comfortable AND still maddeningly in love to like offset/parallel how much of a mess Zoey’s life is and help push her into deciding what she really wants.
Does any of this make any sense?? 💀 anyways that’s my where my thoughts have been regarding this topic. I can’t wait to find out what’s actually happening though omg

I always have a good laugh at the people who claim to be these super woke, progressive, intersectional feminists, but act like Rhaenyra having sex with Harwin and passing off her children as Laenor’s was some gigantic moral failure on her part. I get why Reddit incels and other misogynists and regressive tradcaths would think that, but when it’s Twitter-Tumblr brand of Team Green, who roleplays being leftists intersectional feminist critics on every other day ? That’s laughable. As if this sort of rebellion and defiance against an arranged marriage, a fundamentally patriarchal institution, isn’t the most basic expression of sexual autonomy in ASOIAF, lol. Reproductive rights and agency makes people so mad in this fandom, it’s so funny (and a little scary).
You don't even have to be super woke to be okay with people having kids out of love (like Rhaenyra and Harwin). Especially when, the married one's husband is aware and has given their blessing. Those three were totally okay with the unusual and loving family they had created. Why should we judge those adults whose actions didn't hurt anyone and only affected themselves?
If more westerosi partners were half as understanding as Laenor and Rhaenyra were with each other, that awful kingdom would be a better place.
I also agree with you that even if Laenor wasn't okay and/or didn't know about Rhaenyra's relationship with Harwin that still wouldn't make her an amoral person. Those womenare not living on 21st century on USA where most people decide when and/or if they want to marry. In westerosi society, a woman can't divorce her husband if she falls in love with another or simply because she can't stand him anymore. So let Rhaenyra love and fuck whoever she chooses. It's not like anyone judges male characters for doing exactly the same.
The way this fandom thinks often gives me headache. But it's the same fandom who believes that birth right is superior to merit (not within the westerosi society but according to their own values, yikes).

One of the things I have not understood is the over glorification of Littlefinger's narrative purpose amongst the book fandom especially the shippers and his Stans.
I get it the show dumbed him down but one thing I never understood is some of his fans being sadly insistent on the fact they made his character all about boinking Sansa. But that is not something made up, it's the whole gist of his character.
They say that the man who started the war of the 5 kings couldn't die by the hands of Sansa and they try to redirect his death through a supernatural entity say a corpse like Stoneheart or White Walkers but people forget that instructing Lysa to kill Jon and then telling her to write a letter to Cat so as to lure and trap Ned in Kings Landing but all of that happens before he has his eyes set on Sansa. In fact all of his politicking after Ned's death and from ACOK have revolved around Sansa. From enlisting Dontos to saying the merits of a Tyrell marriage in place of Sansa's to taking Harrenhall as a seat only to gain a title because he was lowborn enough to even marry a spurned princess to putting a wrench in her betrothal to Willas to conspire with Olenna and decide the Purple Wedding was the time to take out Sansa out of the capital to framing her husband for murder so as to widow her and to murdering Lysa to the present Vale succession that we are heading into TWOW.
I don't know why it bothers people to say that his character entirely revolves around Sansa especially from ACOK and after Ned's death. But just because his character entirely revolves around Sansa's, doesn't mean the other way around holds true. Yes he is an important part of her arc but so was Joffrey, Cersei or Sandor. Sansa is a protagonist and Baelish is the supporting character in her arc though he is the most important supporting character in her arc till now, one could say. He is an important plot device and that's it. Sansa is a fleshed out Pov who is a work in progress and Baelish is a static character whose arc is to oil up her hero's journey. It's really hilarious how people get shocked when you say that Sansa has a hero's journey and they are like she is not ugly or an outcast and I am like yeah stop reading those YA novels where everything is a sense of escapism to project upon people who you think had better than you. Also what is this outcast hero worship. George introduces trope but he writes these characters as people. He said the same when he was asked about female characters and he said every demographic you get all kinds of people. So yeah just because someone is pretty doesn't make them evil nor the other way around is true. By that logic Ramsay Bolton should be a hero 🤣. He is ugly and a bastard and unlike Jon, he doesn't have a secret royal ancestry. This obsession with heroic ugly outcasts always makes me believe that this people have not left middle school.
Most of the times I see these arguments are voiced by antis when they talk about after she takes him down, she will die because there is nothing to her arc after his death and I don't get it. Is it because he is the most important non magical antagonist in the books and taking him down renders a certain narrative significance in the text. I must admit its mostly that this accusations are always voiced by key 5 Stans.
Another thing I don't understand is the insistence on him dying with a bang because the show emasculated his death and I am like George for all his talk about moral greyness, always makes sure that his villains die helpless. Remember Tywin, Drogo, Joffrey etc. Even a good guy like Ned dies helpless and Baelish is the anti Ned figure who tries to take that place in Sansa's arc after Ned's death. His death has to mirror Ned's. Overconfidence followed by people that were loyal to him turning against him, add in a daughters betrayal( this time with actual intent to harm him unlike Ned's where she never intended any harm befell her father) followed by helplessness and dying far away from home.
George has himself said Baelish is obsessed with Sansa and the thing with obsession in ASOIAF is that it leads you to the grave. Just ask the woman who was obsessed with Baelish and was later murdered by him.
Tumblr media
Nimby! What could I possibly add to this? Well said.
It's more minimizing of Sansa, this time within her own god damn storyline.
The ice and fire threats might be central to the story, but nobody can deny who the political Final Boss is. Admitting Littlefinger's goals rest on Sansa, or that his fate is tied to Sansa, is admitting Sansa is important. They can't do that.

Darcy, in the Beginning
I recently posted a chapter of an FF from Darcy’s POV where I wrote out him doing this:
Mr. Darcy had at first scarcely allowed her to be pretty; he had looked at her without admiration at the ball; and when they next met, he looked at her only to criticise. But no sooner had he made it clear to himself and his friends that she had hardly a good feature in her face..
Which shows that Elizabeth was actually right that Darcy looks to criticise. But what really gets me is that he told his friends that Elizabeth was ugly. He sat down with Bingley, Louisa, Hurst, and Caroline, and outlined that Elizabeth’s face was without merit. (and we know it was them because who else is even around) It may have sounded something like this:
“For my own part,” she rejoined, “I must confess that I never could see any beauty in her. Her face is too thin; her complexion has no brilliancy; and her features are not at all handsome. Her nose wants character—there is nothing marked in its lines. Her teeth are tolerable, but not out of the common way; and as for her eyes, which have sometimes been called so fine, I could never see anything extraordinary in them. They have a sharp, shrewish look, which I do not like at all; and in her air altogether there is a self-sufficiency without fashion, which is intolerable.”
(Since we know that Caroline repeats Darcy’s opinions back to him like a very obedient parrot)
One reader commented that they weren’t even sure they wanted “this” Darcy to marry Elizabeth. But this is canon Darcy. He also canonically made fun of her family behind her back and said, “She a beauty!—I should as soon call her mother a wit.”
That’s not socially awkward, it’s not shy, it’s downright mean. And also, it’s also not just what everyone does, Bingley does not participate in the Bennet Bashing sessions. Jane Austen kind of slides around how mocking Darcy is in the beginning and has many of his lines repeated by Caroline, which kind of shifts the blame. But man, he’s a jerk in the beginning.
(If you are curious, Mr. Darcy’s Charm on AHA)

Reading Useless Sunni Books
The divide between Sunni and Shia perspectives runs deep, shaping beliefs, practices, and interpretations of religious texts. For Shia Muslims, the question often arises: should one engage with Sunni literature for understanding Islam? The answer, for many, lies in a nuanced exploration of the implications and limitations of such endeavors.
Shia Muslims, grounded in their belief in the infallibility and authority of the Ahlulbayt, often view Sunni literature with skepticism. While some may argue for the utility of Sunni books in debates or comparative religious studies, the inherent risks and pitfalls of relying on these sources for doctrinal guidance cannot be overstated.
One fundamental concern is the potential distortion of the Prophet Muhammad's character and teachings as depicted in Sunni texts. From accounts of his marriages to his interactions with companions, the narratives presented in Sunni literature often diverge significantly from Shia beliefs. The portrayal of the Prophet engaging in actions or making statements that contradict Shia doctrines can be deeply unsettling for adherents of the Shia faith.
For instance, Sunni texts depict the Prophet Muhammad marrying children as young as 6 years old, or engaging in behaviors that Shia Muslims find incompatible with their understanding of prophethood. These disparities can lead to confusion, cognitive dissonance, and false impressions of Mohammad SAWS.
Furthermore, the reliance on Sunni literature as authoritative sources of Islam can inadvertently validate narratives that undermine Shia theology. Accounts of companions correcting or admonishing the Prophet Muhammad, as found in Sunni texts. The conclusion from many Sunni text is that Mohammad was just an average Joe guy who often gets corrected by his companions on numerous occasions.
It is essential to recognize that the divergence between Sunni and Shia perspectives is not merely academic; it is deeply rooted in theological differences that shape religious identity and practice. For Shia Muslims, the Quran and the teachings of Ahlulbayt serve as the primary sources of guidance and authority. The emphasis on the Imams, as the inheritors of prophetic knowledge and authority, distinguishes Shia Islam from its Sunni counterpart.
While engaging with Sunni literature for comparative purposes or scholarly discourse may have its merits, Shia Muslims must approach such endeavors with caution and critical scrutiny. Blind acceptance of narratives that conflict with Shia beliefs in the infallibility of Mohammad and his holy Family SAWS.
In conclusion, while there may be occasional utility in engaging with Sunni literature for certain purposes, such as debates or comparative studies, Shia Muslims must exercise caution and discernment. Relying on Sunni sources for doctrinal guidance or spiritual nourishment poses significant risks to the integrity of Shia beliefs and can lead to confusion and discord within the community. Ultimately, the Quran and the teachings of Ahlulbayt remain the cornerstone of Shia faith and identity, providing a steadfast anchor in the seas of religious discourse. The Prophet said "I leave behind the Quran and Ahlulbayt."
Side Note: Sunni books are absolutely useless, beyond the nature of their uselessness for debates; to read any Sunni book as a genuine source of spiritual guidance would lead anyone to the conclusion that "a Prophet," was a child molester, terrorist, and warmonger, who also walked in on his adopted son's wife and fell in love with her body.

What is your opinion about other animation studios such as DreamWorks Animation, Blue Sky Studios, Illumination, Sony Animation, among others?
I think they're all practically on the same level of Disney they all have their merits they have their downsides like Illumination being the reason the Minions exist but I mean *points to Mickey Mouse* practically the same situation,
DreamWorks is great if you want a Down to Earth film with plenty of laughter. I mean, they literally handled Death as a character recently in Puss in Boots,
Also great meme moments many great meme moments have come from the studio and we forever thank them for that,
Illumination is great if you just want to get your mind off of things yes I actually enjoyed how stupid the minions are didn't care for all the fart jokes but you know what the little guys won me over with their humor and just being silly it's great if you're just trying to get your mind off of things and relax.
Sony is the up and coming Disney. I say Disney about a hundred years ago, Sony, we need to be paying attention to because they are the ones challenging Disney Warner Bros has completely dropped out of the challenging Disney game have we seen the fumble that was Coyote versus Acme that has now turned into Coyote versus Warner
Warner Bros I will bring up a little bit but they have practically dropped out of the game I'm surprised Bugs Bunny isn't wearing Mickey Mouse ears by now especially with them ending up blacklisted by half of Hollywood after their little stunt no I'm not joking after they tried canceling coyote versus Acme they had over 500 people reportedly calling and canceling right left and Center and Warner Bros is still doing damage control
However I will say I used to as a kid love the Looney Tunes films that they produced Space Jam back in Action which I still claim that is a baffy Reconciliation film there was no need for bugs to sound so affectionate at times with Daffy and Daffy also practically having husband energy throughout it the card trick situation with Elmer Fudd really shows how in tune these guys are with one another.
Even kid me was saying those two were married.
They have produced the Mario movie The Spiderverse movies they are the ones handling the Legend of Zelda. Sony is becoming a Powerhouse in themselves. They are what we think Disney should be right now, they are probably the reason why Disney has not completely slipped into being fully lazy.
Blue Sky rest in peace you must not know that they actually got shut down and is now part of Disney I have had fun with the Rio characters mixing with Jose Panchito and Donald because of this and yes I have made a few jokes about the Ice Age characters wreaking havoc in Disneyland. I loved Blue Sky they had their own uniqueness experimentation definitely but they made some very memorable films from Robots to Rio to Ice Age they were incredible themselves.
One that you didn't mention that I quite enjoy even though they are not an American studio is Studio Ghibli gorgeous stunning animation every single time waiting for their films is like waiting for a good meal you already know the chef you know the people serving it you know it's going to taste damn good and it hits almost always the only time they fumbled was when they handed it to miyazaki's son and he tried to pull the whole CG bullshit with it which completely floundered Earwig and the witch
But the rest of their films have been nothing but hard Heavy Hitters if you want films that will make you freaking think go sit down and watch a Studio Ghibli film there is one of theirs that I can never watch again and that is grave of the fireflies if you want to know how it was in Japan during the war Miyazaki and his crew tackled that hard topic and it does not end in a fairy tale ending it is hard it gets you crying but it also opens up your eyes
Each of these Studios that I mentioned have their merits. I love each and every one of them for either their quirkiness or just imagination, just like Disney.

the fitzempress sons and the velaryon boys
the term fitzempress was born from the fact that empress matilda, in her first marriage, was made empress of the holy roman empire. she never let go of that title even in remarriage - due to her husband being a mere count. she passed this sense of importance to her three sons. her sons had multiple names and monikers but the title fitzempress stuck the longest, especially with henry ii's two younger brothers. the name is deeply close to henry ii as it is his mother who he proudly descended from to inherit the throne of england.
the term velaryon boys was used to refer to the sons of rhaenyra targaryen and laenor velaryon. through their royal and noble parents, they are the known heirs to house targaryen and house velaryon. however, when their mother rhaenyra ascends to the throne - their eldest son, jacaerys velaryon would change his last name to targaryen, to continue the royal line. while lucerys velaryon would be the one to inherit driftmark and continue house velaryon. the youngest of the three sons, joffrey velaryon would also retain the velaryon name.
jacaerys velaryon - henry fitzempress, henry ii.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
jacaerys's character is heavily influenced by who henry ii, eldest son of matilda, was. henry ii was the most intelligent and dutiful of matilda's sons. he had been a educated by great tutors in his mother's household. his father sent him to his uncle robert of gloucester to have his education in england. there, he was raised with canons of the church who were all prolific academics at the time. he got the best education that is fit for a son of the empress, a future king of england.
he understood many languages but spoke latin and french. he was energetic and zealous and was athletic and liked hunting as a young man. he was also stubborn and strident. from a young age involved in the running of their family's endeavours, taught how to run his father's lands. he was also known to be someone who was fair, he raised people above their station based on merit rather than by station and was also very concerned for the common folk, having emptied his own private stores to aid his people during a famine in 1176.
jacaerys velaryon is the same. he was educated on dragonstone by his mother, where he grew up. he was considerably known to be robust young boy, who was also known to be quite fair in looks. as his mother's royal heir, we know that he would have been educated well as a prince of the realm with trusted maesters and educators his mother would have been able to find.
we do see in the show, where jacaerys is learning high valyrian - he determined to get everything right. and was stubborn and stern in the show. it is also to be known that in the books, jacaerys was well adept at using arms, becoming a prolific squire at his young age.jacaerys was responsible and bold, he was considered savy at his politics and was one to not care about the station of others. he himself was the person who led the venture for dragonseeds, whom all came from various backgrounds. he also led the family throughout the war.
henry ii and jacaerys were heavily influenced by their ancestral descendency. henry ii wanted to rebuild the kingdom his grandfather worked to hold together. we see that in the show elaborated on, where jacaerys declares he should learn in order to bring honor to his ancestors. both of them were married or was to marry women of great beauty, strength and power. henry married eleanor of aquitaine, who held the duchy of aquitane in her own right and ruled with him. jacaerys was set to wed baela targaryen, who was to be his queen and dragonrider like him. lucerys velaryon - william fitzempress

william fitzempress was born the third son of empress matilda and geoffrey of anjou. william as a third son was never really set to inherit anything but he's considered a smart young man and was martially inclined, reading tactics often.he was studied tactics like that of roman military theorist vegetius and used that against his elder brother geoffrey when he occupied one of their family's castles. as he was the brother who shared similarities to his brother and because he most loyal, henry ii favoured him. at one point, henry ii had a council convened to propose the invasion of ireland - where he planned to make him king. but their mother opposed, as she thinks it is not worth conquering.

instead, henry ii made up to his brother by giving him land, wealth and titles. when he was in his mid 20s, he was set to wed isabel de warenne, countess of surrey who was a rich heiress. however their marriage required a dispensation due to their close affinity. thomas becket, who was archbishop of canterbury refused to help - he and king were at odds.unfortunately, william died suddenly - they said of a broken heart at the age of 27. henry ii was distraught at his brother's death and blamed becket- furthering conflict. when becket wss murdered by knights under henry ii's employ, they screamed of vengence for william's death.
lucerys velaryon was the second son of rhaenyra targaryen and laenor velaryon. unlike william, laenor and his father made lucerys heir to driftmark at his birth. lucerys was just as robust like his elder brother lucerys whom he was close with which we saw elaborated on the show. as elaborated on by the show, lucerys is warm hearted and kind. just as william proved, lucerys is loyal to his family to a fault even against other kin. like william,
he also is for his martial skills being known for being adept at using arms just like his elder brother. lucerys in the show was someone who shunned power, but did his duty. just like william, he knew his duty and his place was to support henry ii's rule as king - lucerys made sure to support his own mother queen rhaenyra during the dance of the dragons as a dragonrider and envoy. like william, lucerys velaryon suddenly died young after his uncle aemond killed him and his dragon arrax over the skies of storm's end. his death just like william's, lead to the deepening of horrors to come. and just like william, lucerys  velaryon's death was avenged brutally.
joffrey velaryon - geoffrey fitzempress, count of nantes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
geoffrey fitzempress was born the second son of empress matilda and geoffrey of anjou. he was named in honor of his father during the war as his mother was off in england, defending her claim to the throne. as he grew up with his father, it was the count of anjou who chose how his son was to be raised however we know little of what went through on in geoffrey's life at this time due to lack of records. still, when his father passed, it was thought that he was his father's heir. being a second son, this meant that should his elder brother claim normandy or england, anjou would be ceded to geoffrey.
however his brother henry ii did not cede the lands to his brother and instead, when he turned 16, young geoffrey became count of nantes. geoffrey considerably was eager to prove himself as powerful and worthy. he often did this by making plots. he would occupy castles and force his brothers to siege them. he also tried to plot to get eleanor of aquitaine to wed him however that failed completely. geoffrey however always made up with his family quite often, even escorting his brother henry ii and his newly wedded wife eleanor back to england around the same time. he continued to try and prove himself and fought his brothers - ending up dying young suddenly aged 24.
joffrey velaryon was born to rhaenyra targaryen and laenor velaryon as their third and last son. just like geoffrey, the youngest son was named to honor someone. in joff’s case, it was his father's departed lover and friend, joffrey lanmouth. just like his elder brothers, joff was also born robust of body. like his historical counterpart, we know very little about how he grew up after the incident in driftmark, both book and show. however we know that joffrey is a loyal and honest boy, having fought off his uncle aemond from claiming vhagar during his father's funeral. that being said, unlike his historical counterpart, joffrey velaryon was a third son. however, both are certainly in the same predicament, which is that their position as a member of their family is yet to be determined.
however joffrey was eager to do well and prove himself worthy of being his mother's son just like geoffrey. the difference however is their approach towards it. while geoffrey favored trying to fight his family to attain glory, joffrey velaryon was resolute to prove himself by fighting for his family and ensuring that he contributes to their family's success in the war - in order to make his mother queen and avenge his departed family. however just like geoffrey, the youngest velaryon son was destined to die young. while we do not know how geoffrey fitzempress died, he did not perhaps die so miserably and horribly like joffrey did. but unlike geoffrey, joffrey velaryon died trying to serve his family.
