How we doing after episode 8 of The Sign? Screaming and crying is okay, expected- preferred to the SILENCE I am seeing on my feed. Take your time to process. I’ll be here screaming into the abyss when you’re ready.
Let's talk about the fear that passes across Tharn's face while he listens to Phaya declare that he would never let anything keep him apart from the person he loves and how he would do anything to keep them together. No matter what. And when Phaya asks Tharn if he's willing to do the same this is the expression on Tharn's face; fear.
They both know full well that Phaya is talking about Tharn. He's not beating around any bush or speaking in metaphors, if he says it he means it. And I think Tharn looks scared because he's realizing that Phaya. He's realizing that he's going to have to face his fears because Phaya is not backing down from what's happening between them.
He's scared but he likes Phaya and he wants Phaya around and they both know that and I think part of the reason he's facing his fears is because he's realizing he's not alone. Phaya is aware that Tharn is scared of whatever haunts them, but Tharn is also aware that Phaya is scared for him too. They're fighting the same battle and they're both trying to protect each other and like the Abbott said, they have to be together to do that.
i would actually be thrilled if the final arc of the show is them falling in love again as adults bc i love watching sunjae and sol fall in love!!! we’ve seen it like three times already and im obsessed with it like yes please fall in love with each other again, do it another 40 times for all i care!!!
no because listen LISTEN everyone in tlou makes selfish decisions for love EVERYONE bill hoarded his supplies he only wanted the town for himself and frank so they would be safe so they would be happy henry sold out the rebellion in exchange for sam's life anna lied to marlene about cutting the umbilical cord before getting bit so ellie could live EVERYONE IS SELFISH WHEN IT COMES TO LOVE!!!! joel slaughtered an entire hospital and what a horrible thing to do and he's a morally condemned man but i fucking love him he's so based for that
So ep 7 reveals the second Big Bad of The Sign - in addition to the Doc/Naga we've got the crooked politician to take down. Interesting. One supernatural villain, one human.
The artist story was tragically beautiful and Phaya is basically an attack dog seme at this point. He can hardly restrain himself from growling whenever he sees the doc (he bares his teeth though and I think he's a biter).
And a nice family dinner enhanced by 'lovely sound' before our first real NC scene. The chemistry is chemistrying and I need to fan myself before thinking about that bed scene and Phaya's hand on Tharn's hip (damn you conveniently placed lamp). And snuggles! Sweet.
Ep 8 starts with Tharn being the heaviest sleeper since Sleeping Beauty but hey - he's very pretty and needs his 8 hours. MVP in this first 5 minutes: the Abbot. Although why the man doesn't just tell Tharn that the Doc's a bad 'un I don't know. Isn't he allowed to do more than give cryptic hints?
Ooh, hang on. We have an exposition fairy, er, nagini. THANK YOU FAIR MAIDEN. Now we know wtf is going on with all the supernatural shenanigans and, most importantly, why. I like Phaya's collar wotsit - I am counting this as a crop top thanks.
If I haven't said it before, Henk makes an excellent baddie, especially as a big ol' snek. Onwards!
Ultraman Blazar's Salutations From Episodes 1-5 (ft. Bazanga, Leviera, and a sleeping Dorgo)
Episode 1 as well as the rest of the series can be found on youtube for free with eng subtitles and an eng audio track if that interests you
[Video description: Ultraman Blazar, a colossal grey humanoid alien with red and blue markings on his body, and blue markings on his face, performs his signature salutation in several different places and times. This salutation consists of raising his arms up to the sky in a circular motion, and bringing his knee up before stepping into a lunge and scooping his arms down and upward.
From episode 1, in a city at night, the camera watches from below, as Blazar performs his salutation and his markings flash red and blue. The shot cuts to a wider one, showing off the buildings and Blazar's opponent, Bazanga, a prawn-like Kaiju. After his salute, Blazar moves his hands into a guarded, fighting stance.
From Episode 2: Blazar stands against the bright blue day sky in a small fishing village, with much shorter buildings. He faces the camera directly as he does his salutation, and the camera zooms in on him as he does it and his markings flash red and blue once more.
From Episode 3: Blazar is framed in a head and shoulder shot and smothered in smoke as his colour time, a big round spot on his chest that is normally blue, flashes red. Once more he faces the camera as he does his salutation, before flying off, kicking up dirt in his takeoff.
From episode 4: The camera pans over a cityscape, with a highway at the front of the scene. Once more it is night time and Blazar faces off against a monster among many many buildings. The monster is Leviera, a sea-angel themed kaiju whose face is open to reveal flashing yellow lights as Blazar does his salutation from the side. Leviera is aggressively ready to go.
From episode 5: Blazar stands behind the sleeping kaiju, Dorgo, who looks mostly like a hill of dirt in this shot. He performs his salutation, and immediately begins to push the sleeping Kaiju back to its proper resting place. The shot switches to one of Blazar from behind, as he continues to push Dorgo back into place, among the green hills and mountains of the Japanese countryside. With a thump, Dorgo returns to his resting spot, and Blazar turns to face the camera as he jumps up into the air to fly away.
Honestly y'all, I feel like David knew there wasn't much hope of a 3rd series. He did his best to tie up all the loose ends at the end of season 2 because he knew, deep down, that the chances of a third and final series was slim. And I'm grateful for that ending. Other people might have been temped to end on a cliffhanger to try and increase the chances of a renwal, but David didn't. He gave us their inn, The Revenge captained by Frenchie and a bad-ass crew sailing off into the sunset.
We might only have 2 series but at least they're complete.
