growing strong, CH. 6

aka my rewrite of season 2 of Teen Wolf based on the question: what if Erica was best friends with Scott and Stiles from the beginning?

Everyone teams up to help keep Jackson under control now that they have learned he is the kanima. He initially goes along with their plans, but a lack of good judgment (and overwhelming teenage hormones) forces them to make a difficult choice.

CHAPTER SIX - FRENEMY (click to read on AO3)

With Jackson on the loose, Derek took control and started giving out orders. Allison needed to take Lydia home and find a way to explain what had happened that night without revealing everything to the redhead, for her own safety. Derek, Boyd, and Isaac were to follow Jackson on foot, while Scott and Erica would guide Stiles in his Jeep in an attempt to trap him. They still had no idea if they would be able to capture Jackson, or what they would do once they had, but they couldn’t just let him roam Beacon Hills freely.

When Roscoe could drive no further, Scott took off to act as back-up for Derek, while Erica contacted Isaac and Boyd and set off to verify the perimeter was secured. The hunters showing up was certainly not part of the plan, but Erica managed to keep her distance and trust that her alpha and best friend could handle themselves. The exchange between Scott and Gerard had her a bit bewildered, but she didn’t have time to dwell on it when Jackson took off once more and slipped through their perimeter.

They were able to track him all the way to Jungle, a popular gay club in Beacon Hills that was frequented by Jackson’s best friend Danny. Derek sent Erica to meet with Scott and Stiles while he and the pack tried to set up a new perimeter. When they saw Jackson actually go into the club, she texted Derek to tell him, and the three friends broke their way inside together. They weren’t sure why Jackson seemed to be going after Danny, but they were determined to make sure he didn’t succeed in killing his best friend.

Watching Scott and Stiles in a gay club was something Erica was going to remember fondly for a long time. Scott’s casual obliviousness was adorable, and Stiles’s ability to draw the attention of three of the most beautiful drag queens in the club had her fighting a smile. She told them that she was going to take a look around, leaving them to go to the bar and watch over Danny while she tried to find Jackson. Despite their best efforts, they weren’t able to stop Jackson or prevent him from temporarily paralyzing a handful of club patrons in addition to Danny. Erica had been near the fallen bodies, and the only reason Jackson didn’t attack her next was because Derek showed up and slashed his neck. In the chaos that followed, they lost Jackson, and Derek grabbed Erica to drag her from the club.

“You promised you wouldn’t kill him!” she shouted at him, pushing him away from her.

“He could have killed you,” Derek pointed out. “I think the words you’re looking for are ‘thank you’.”

“All he would have done was paralyze me like everyone else,” she shot back. “I don’t know why, but he didn’t come here to kill Danny. He had the chance, but he didn’t.”

“That doesn’t mean he wouldn’t take the chance to kill you,” he argued. “I’m not going to apologize for protecting you. Now walk. We’re going home.”

“What about Scott and Stiles?” she questioned, even as she began walking beside him. Boyd and Isaac followed from a distance, chatting amongst themselves. “What about Jackson?”

“You can text them, but we’re still going home,” Derek decided. “As for Jackson, he’s either dead, dying, or down for now. If it’s the latter, then we’ll deal with it, as we do everything else. As a pack.”

Erica sighed, accepting his decision even if she didn’t like it. Jackson was supposed to be pack. They should have been helping him and healing him, not leaving him to die. Letting Derek guide them home, she pulled out her phone and began texting Scott and Stiles.

[text from: Catwoman] Are you guys okay?

[text from: Catwoman] I’m sorry I didn’t stick around. Jackson almost got me, and Derek protected me before demanding we leave. I don’t know if Jackson’s okay.

[text from: Superman] He’s alive, but knocked out in the backseat of Stiles’s Jeep.

[text from: Superman] Question: your parents are out of town, right?

[text from: Catwoman] I like the way your mind works, Superman.

[text from: Catwoman] You guys will beat me there, so bring him to the pool house.

[text from: Superman] How do we hold him so he can’t get out?

[text from: Catwoman] Derek has some equipment that might work. For now, just lock him in the back storage room. The window’s too small for him to get out through.

[text from: Superman] This is much better than Stiles’s idea.

[text from: Catwoman] What was his idea?

[text from: Superman] Stealing a police van.

[text from: Catwoman] Those have trackers!

[text from: Superman] He did not know that.

[text from: Catwoman] This is why you run all ideas through me.

After she sent her last text, she told Derek what was going on, and before she even had to ask, he was suggesting the same equipment she had seen him bring to the train car that week. He made her promise to be safe while he was gone, then sent Isaac home with Boyd for the night. She ran the rest of the way to her house alone, arriving shortly after Stiles and Scott deposited Jackson in the storage room. Just as she entered the pool house, she heard Jackson wake up and start shouting all of their names.

“I take it you haven’t explained why we brought him here?” she inquired, sighing when they smiled sheepishly at her. “Great,” she muttered, moving towards the storage room. “How’s it going in there?”

“Erica, I don’t know what kind of sick game this is, but let me out!” he demanded, slamming on the door.

“This isn’t a game, and I can’t do that,” she told him. “I’m sorry, but this is for your own good.”

“What the hell does that even mean?” he groaned. “Just let me out, Erica. At the very least, give me a pair of fucking pants.”

She turned around to glare at Stiles and Scott, her glare intensifying until Scott muttered an apology and Stiles volunteered to run and get Jackson a pair of pants. “We’ll get you some pants right now, and we will let you out eventually, but not until Derek gets here.”

“What does Derek have to do with this?” Jackson questioned. Erica didn’t answer, biting the corner of her bottom lip as she thought about what she should tell him. “What’s going on? Why am I here?”

“I told you, this is for your own good,” she assured him. “I’m sorry, I have to wait for Derek.” She took the pants that Stiles quickly returned with, walking over to the door and cracking it just enough to toss the pants in before shutting and locking it again. She walked back over to Scott and Stiles, taking a slow, steadying breath. “You guys don’t have to stick around if you don’t want to. Derek will be here soon, and we’ll find a way to get through to Jackson.”

“You want us to leave you alone with him?” Scott asked, glancing back towards the storage room.

“Yeah, no offense, Erica, but the last time you went up against him as the kanima, he knocked you out cold,” Stiles reminded, shaking his head. “I’m not going anywhere.”

“Do you two want me to leave you alone to finish what you started earlier?” Scott muttered.

“That was nothing,” Erica insisted, moving towards the fridge to grab a water bottle for herself. She could feel both of their eyes following her so she turned her back to them as she took a long sip of water.

“Erica doesn’t want to talk to me about it,” Stiles finally stated. “Whatever it is that you, Derek, Isaac, and everyone else but me seems to know, she doesn’t want to talk to me about it. And you know what? That’s fine. You’re all in some special club that I’m not part of now, so why not keep secrets?”

“You think I don’t want to talk to you because I’m a werewolf and you’re not?” Erica said in disbelief. “Unbelievable. You know what. You two watch Jackson. I’ll wait for Derek outside.”

“Erica-” Scott started, moving to block her path. “Maybe now’s the right time.”

“No!” she shouted, pushing him away with wide eyes. “Not now. Not here. Not with you around.” She stormed out of the pool house, slamming the door closed behind her as she took a few steps away and looked up at the sky. She could feel the angry, overwhelmed tears pooling in her eyes, but she blinked them back, refusing to let them fall this time. She was in control of her body and of her life, and she was not going to cry over her best friends anymore.

Derek soon arrived, walking down silently to where she stood with the box of equipment in his hands. He stopped beside her, waiting for her to look at him before proceeding inside with her. “Where is he?” he asked, dropping the box on the table and opening it. He pulled out a set of cuffs for hands and feet that were connected by a thick chain and had extra yards at the end to be tied to something or held if need be. Stiles and Scott both pointed towards the storage room, and Derek nodded, walking past them and through the door. There was a short scuffle before the door reopened and Derek led Jackson out by the chain that he was now restrained by. “Sit on the couch,” he demanded, Erica grabbing the box and moving it and the table out of the way so the living room space was more open for them. “What do you remember happening tonight?”

“What the hell is this?” Jackson demanded, glaring at all of them. “Some kind of fucked up intervention?”

“Kind of,” Erica commented.

“Answer the question,” Derek ordered.

“Fine!” Jackson shouted. “I went to Erica’s house to talk to Lydia. I wanted my key back, and I knew she had it. She tried to lie to me, but I could tell. We got into a fight over it, and… I don’t know. Somehow we ended up kissing. That’s the last thing I remember before waking up in that dark, shitty room.”

“So you have a complete black out from when you were kissing Lydia to when you woke up here?” Derek reiterated.

“That’s what I just said,” Jackson confirmed, losing his patience.

“How often have you lost time like that?” Derek questioned, startling Jackson a bit.

“How did you know I’ve been losing time?” he asked.

“Because this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the kanima,” Erica stated, frowning slightly. “You might not be a werewolf, Jackson, but you are a shapeshifter. You are pack.”

“What are you talking about?” Jackson groaned. “We’ve been over this, haven’t we? You did your stupid test, and you proved it wasn’t me. Don’t you think I would know if I was turning into something else? It’s the one thing I’ve been waiting for.”

“I don’t know why the test failed,” Derek grumbled.

“Maybe it’s like an either/or thing,” Stiles pointed out. “A snake can’t be poisoned by its own venom, but when’s the kanima not the kanima?”

“When it’s Jackson,” Erica nodded.

“So what? You’re telling me that the Bite did work, but instead of turning me into a werewolf, I turned into a were-snake?” Jackson ranted. “You’re all insane.”

“It’s more like a lizard,” Stiles clarified. “And your claws have this liquid that paralyzes people, and you have a tail.”

“I have a tail?” Jackson repeated.

“Yeah, you have a tail,” Stiles confirmed.

“Mm, does it do anything?” Jackson asked.

“No, not that we know of,” Stiles replied.

Jackson nodded, then lunged against his handcuffs towards Stiles. “Can I use it to strangle you?”

“You still don’t believe us,” Stiles complained.

“Why would we do all of this if it wasn’t true, Jackson?” Erica pointed out. “If it was just Stiles and Scott, I could understand, but why would Derek and I be involved if it wasn’t real?”

“Okay, fine. Let’s pretend I do believe you. What the hell am I supposed to do about it?” Jackson asked them. “How am I supposed to stop myself from turning into a freaking lizard when I didn’t even know it was happening to me?”

“That’s what we need to figure out,” Derek told him. “Until we do, we need to keep you here so you don’t kill anyone else.”

“You can’t just keep me locked up in here,” Jackson declared. “My parents will wonder where I am.”

“You’re going to text them and tell them you’re spending the night at a friend’s house,” Derek decided, glancing back at the other three teens. “You three will go get some rest and go to school tomorrow. Stiles, drive Erica. Scott, look into why the kanima may have targeted Danny.”

“I tried to attack Danny?” Jackson asked, and the surprise in his voice told them just how unaware he had been.

“You can’t boss me around. You’re not my alpha,” Stiles argued.

“I’ll just walk,” Erica stated.

“No, I’ll drive you,” Stiles quickly promised, pressing his lips into a thin line as Erica rolled her eyes.

“I’ll bring Jackson back home tomorrow and keep an eye on him there until we figure this out,” Derek continued, turning back to the boy in question. “Erica’s right. You’re pack.”

Erica watched as Jackson nodded, looking down at his hands. She walked towards him, handing him his phone and giving his arm a gentle pat before leaving the pool house. Scott and Stiles trailed out behind her, following her up to her house and inside. “I appreciate you guys going along with Derek’s plan.”

“It’s not the worst plan,” Scott shrugged.

“Could do without him bossing me around,” Stiles admitted. “I mean, has the guy heard of the word ‘please’?” He found his smile growing when his joke made Erica laugh. “Can I drive you tomorrow? I’ve missed driving you around.”

“Yeah, you can drive me,” she nodded. She glanced up and saw Scott watching her, his expression difficult to read. “I, uh, guess I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” She walked past them and made her way upstairs, ready to go to bed as she felt more tired than she had in a long time.

Jackson’s text had satisfied his parents, and his return home claiming to be ill the next morning had him isolated in his bedroom, which Derek easily snuck into. Jackson wasn’t a fan of sharing his space with the broody alpha, but he texted Erica throughout the day complaining, and her agreement with most of his observations seemed to appease him. Stiles drove Erica to school, as promised, but then they parted ways as Erica walked off with Boyd and Isaac. The only real twist of the day was that Allison’s mother was the substitute teacher for their English class, and Erica overheard a rather disturbing conversation after class about prom and family expectations between the woman and her daughter.

After school ended, Scott had gone to visit Danny in the hospital, then set off to try to retrieve his tablet from his car, which was still parked by the club. If Danny had been doing this favor for Jackson, maybe that was why the kanima targeted him. Maybe whatever video he was trying to recover for Jackson was a danger to the kanima somehow. Finding the car broken into and the tablet gone threw a wrench in that plan, but he texted his findings to Erica anyways. She then replied to him and Stiles, telling them to meet at the pool house. Derek had decided to sneak Jackson out of his room once he knew his parents would leave him alone. Jackson had made it clear he had little control over when he turned, and the last thing Derek wanted was for Jackson to accidentally hurt his parents.

When they all arrived at the pool house (Allison included), Jackson was handcuffed and back in the storage closet, not pleased but accepting of the necessary precautions. Derek explained that he needed to look into the kanima in his own way, and that he wanted them to pair up and take shifts watching over Jackson. He left them to decide how they split up the shifts, taking off in his Camaro without another word. Glancing back at the storage room door, the four teens decided to step outside to talk things over, starting with what Scott had discovered.

“If Jackson doesn’t remember being the kanima, he’s definitely not going to remember stealing Danny’s tablet,” he sighed, rubbing the back of his head.

“Why would he steal the thing if he doesn’t even know what’s on it?” Stiles questioned.

“What if someone else took it?” Allison suggested.

“Then somebody else knows what he is,” Stiles pointed out.

“Which could mean someone’s protecting him,” Scott added.

“Like the bestiary says, ‘the kanima seeks a friend,’ right?” Allison reminded them.

“Wait what? I didn’t hear this,” Erica muttered. “That was in that book you were trying to steal from your grandfather?”

“That’s what Ms. Morell translated from it, yeah,” Allison nodded.

“So does that mean that the person protecting Jackson is a friend of Jackson or a friend of the kanima?” Erica wondered. “Or is there even a difference?”

“I think there is, because the kanima attacked Danny, and Danny is Jackson’s best friend,” Scott pointed out.

“Okay, hold on,” Stiles intervened. “So, somebody watches Jackson make a video of himself turning into the kanima, and then just erases part of it so he wouldn’t know? I mean, who would do that?”

“Somebody who wanted to protect him?” Allison mused.

“There’s something else,” Scott chimed in. “You said the only thing you found online about the kanima is that it goes after murderers. What if that’s actually true?”

“Well, no, it can’t be,” Stiles shook his head. “It tried to kill all of us, remember? I don’t know about you three, but I haven’t murdered anybody lately.”

“But I- I don’t think that it was actually trying to kill us,” Scott stated, turning to Allison. “Remember when we were at Isaac’s the first time, it just went right by us, didn’t it?”

“You’re right, it just ran off,” Allison nodded.

“And it didn’t kill you in the mechanic’s garage,” Scott continued, facing Stiles.

“Well yeah, but it tried to kill me and Derek in the pool,” Stiles recalled.

“Did it?” Scott countered.

“It would’ve,” Stiles insisted. “It was waiting for us to come out.”

“What if it was trying to keep you in?” Scott questioned.

“It could have killed me instead of knocking me out,” Erica added. “I was unconscious and undefended with you two in the pool and it left me alone. I think Scott’s right.”

“Why do I feel so violated all of a sudden?” Stiles asked, shivering.

“Because there’s something else going on,” Scott declared. “We don’t know what it is. We don’t know anything about what’s going on with Jackson, or why someone’s protecting him.”

“‘Know thy enemy,’” Allison muttered, drawing all of their attention. “Just something my grandfather said.”

“Alright, I got it,” Stiles announced. “Kill Jackson. Problem solved.”

“Really? You’re going to go with the Derek Hale preferred method of dealing with problems?” Erica replied.

“He risked his life for us, against Peter. You remember that?” Scott scolded Stiles.

“Yes, but what did we just find out?” Stiles continued. “He got the Bite from Derek.”

“What’s your point?” Erica warned.

“It’s funny how he just got exactly what he wanted by supposedly risking his life for us. It’s funny,” Stiles said sarcastically.

“Yeah, it doesn’t mean he’s not still worth saving,” Scott told him.

“It’s always something with him though,” Stiles complained.

“He doesn’t know what he’s doing,” Scott reminded him.

“So what?” Stiles asked.

“So I didn’t either!” Scott exclaimed, turning to face Allison again. “You remember when I almost killed you and Jackson?” Allison nodded solemnly, glancing away. “I had someone to stop me. He has nobody.”

“That’s his own fault,” Stiles stated.

“Doesn’t matter,” Scott retorted. “If we can save him, we should try.”

“Scott’s right,” Erica agreed. “Jackson isn’t some irredeemable monster. He’s a teenager. He’s just like us. All for one and one for all, remember? ‘All’ includes Jackson.”

“Whatever,” Stiles gave in, stepping away from them. “Look, I really want to go check on Lydia. She hasn’t forgiven me for ditching her at her car during the last game. Scott, if you and Allison take the first shift, I can come back and stay overnight with Erica.”

“Sure, man,” Scott nodded.

“Yeah, you’ll be sleeping on the floor,” Erica grumbled, storming out of the pool house. She could have easily gone up to her room, but she found herself taking off into the woods, needing to blow off some steam. She hated how easily she got riled up by the mention of Stiles and Lydia, but she supposed no matter how close she became to Lydia, she would always be jealous of the way she kept Stiles captivated over the years.

The plan had seemed simple enough. All Scott and Allison had to do was stand watch to make sure Jackson didn’t escape the storage room. When it was time for her shift, Erica returned from running around in the woods to find the area around the small window in the storage room ripped through, creating a gap large enough for Jackson to escape. She stormed into the pool house, Stiles following behind her, only to find Scott and Allison half-clothed and asleep on the couch. When they realized that Jackson had escaped, they both sported guilty expressions.

“I have to tell my father,” Allison stated.

“I have to tell Derek,” Erica sighed. If they had kept Jackson secluded, they had more options, but she knew they would have to find a way to stop Jackson.

Scott began walking away, and they started to follow him. “Scott,” Allison spoke. “He’s going to kill someone.”

“Okay, tell him,” Scott nodded. “Tell him everything.”

“Scott, I gotta tell mine too,” Stiles added regretfully.

“This is all my fault,” Scott muttered.

“It’s not,” Allison shook her head. “But we have to tell them. We’re just a bunch of teenagers, and even with Derek, we can’t handle this.”

“You’re right,” Scott agreed.

“How are you going to make your dad believe all this?” Allison asked Stiles.

“I don’t know,” Stiles admitted.

Scott turned to face him, flashing his eyes gold as he said, “He’ll believe me.”

“Do you want me to come with you guys?” Erica offered, knowing how fond the Sheriff was of her.

“No, you go meet with Derek,” Scott advised. “Tell him that I’m sorry. I’ll try to make it up to him.”

“Good luck with that,” she replied curtly, turning away when he swallowed dryly. She shook her head as she left the pool house, texting Derek for his location before setting off to find him. She explained what she had seen, what she had pieced together, and what was likely going to happen next. He said he would go out and try to find Jackson, but that she should head home and get some rest. She wasn’t sure how much rest she would get not knowing whether Jackson was okay, but she went home and tried anyway. Before she could fall asleep, she got a text from Jackson that had her perking up in bed.

[text from: Jackson] I know you and Derek are trying to help, so I’m sorry, but I had to blame someone.

[text from: Erica] What are you talking about?

[text from: Erica] What did you do?

Fifteen minutes passed with no response before another text message came in, this time from Scott.

[text from: Superman] I changed my mind. We’re killing Jackson.

[text from: Catwoman] What? Why?

[text from: Batman] The dick showed up at the deputy station and claimed we kidnapped him. His dad’s a big time lawyer, and my dad’s gonna be in deep shit at work.

[text from: Catwoman] What?!

[text from: Superman] My mom’s here. I gotta go.

[text from: Catwoman] Guys, I’m sorry! I didn’t know!

With a growl, Erica tossed her phone to the end of her bed and climbed out of it, throwing on clothes before grabbing the device again and heading out of her house. She had to check on them to make sure they were okay. She had to know exactly how much damage Jackson had done and figure out how to make it right somehow. Knowing Stiles would stay late at the station with his dad, she made her way to Scott’s house, intent on waiting in his room until he got home.

Okay so I read this fanfic once and now I cant find it anywhere 😔. It's a teen wolf fanfic where Stiles becomes friends with the drag queens at the jungle and they take him shopping for this Halloween drag competition that he's gonna compete in, he also becomes super sassy and absolutely roasts Jackson. And he's in love with Derek while all of this is happening

Okay, so since my newest 2021 hyperfixation is Teen Wolf (Sterek) I just need to rant a little about it here. particularly the shows obsession with implying through jokes and gibs that Stiles is into guys (and then not following through!)

just a few things i can think of at the top of my head (which happen all before the end of season 3 might I add!) is Stiles asking if he’s attractive to gay guys (which ok, valid question); when they visit the jungle and Stiles is seen being surrounded by drag queens, all of whom he at a later episode apparently liked so much that he not only got their phone numbers, but also decided they were a good group to call for help; jokes about how his fashion-sense don’t match potential gayness (wtf?); Matt Daehler saying Derek and Stiles make a cute couple (when they have been paralysed and fucking forced to lie on top of each other); Caitlin asking if he likes girls (implying that he gives off gay vibes? i don’t know).

and like, the thing that kind of rubs me the wrong way with these jokes (hints that the showrunners and actors are aware that Sterek is a big ship in the fandom?) is that they way they’re played off is as a sort of, “haha, look, people think this white kid is gay because (enter reasons I don’t even know? he’s a little geeky? talk a lot? at the start of the show he’s pretty skinny? point is, i don’t know the reasons, but they’re there) but he’s clearly not gay!”

but the thing is that those kind of jokes are not funny because if Stiles is 100 % straight then the jokes are meant to make fun of queerness. and, yes, there are other queer representation within the show, with Danny, Ethan, Jackson, Emily and Caitlin, but they are not main characters. and it’s great that a character like Danny is so beloved by everyone in the show, and is obviously very smart and kind and his sexuality is just accepted. when Aiden and Ethan comes to school it’s just like, wow, these hot dudes; Lydia is going after the straight one and Danny is going after the gay one, no big deal. and don’t get me wrong, those things are important. the fact that it’s Aiden that dies and not Ethan is fucking huge (yes, thank you, let’s bury the bury your gays trope right now)!

but the jokes about Stiles straightness/lack there of are still jokes at Stiles expense. because Stiles is a main character and obviously a main character can’t be gay! the audience is supposed to know that, so that they’ll scoff in amusement everytime someone implies Stiles could potentially be anything other than straight.

and how we’re supposed to know that is because Stiles is obsessed with Lydia. now don’t get me wrong; i love Lydia. she’s amazing. but that’s like literally how the audience is supposed to know Stiles couldn’t possibly be gay; because he has an obsession with a girl who at the start of the show barely talks to him, isn’t at all in his social group and only dates hot jocks. that and the fact that Stiles bemoans his virginity and wouldn’t mind practically anyone to take it from him, you know, “classic lad-banter, lolz!”

but the thing is, you can’t see on someone based on how they’re dressed if they’re queer. you can’t tell that they’re gay or straight because they have “classical gay or straight interests” which definitely makes them one or the other. sometimes people just are queer. queer people have traits, skills and values that should qualify them to be main characters. it’s not either or.

and the thing is that everything that happens in canon is created by a team of people who decide how these characters are gonna react, how they’re going to feel, what they’re going to say; so the jokes about gayness in relation to Stiles are there for a reason. they’re there because people decided that they should be there.

so, either, if we think about Stiles’ character, we either have a case of 100% straight Stiles, who gets made fun of for not acting straight enough, or we have a case of a teenager potentially not sure of his sexuality (because you know, teendom is the time to be super inward reflective and think about yourself and shit), who could potentially fall into something beyond a dichotomous, binary understanding of attraction.

and option a sucks, because then all the good queer representation we get (Danny, my shining beacon! <3) is not enough. because then queerness is fine as long as you’re not super important, as long as you’re not a main character.

now, i don’t mean to shit on canon or other pairings. i’m not even saying this as a sort of “my ship is the best ship”, no. at the start of the show, Derek is too old for Stiles. he shouldn’t even be considered a viable option. but you know, a teen Stiles’ age who Stiles could develop a crush on for a while? and that crush could be treated as a sort of, “yeah, sure man, no one cares, that dude seems totally cool!” thing? then i’d feel less like the jokes are meant to show how totally insane it is that an MC could be queer.

and Stiles don’t have gay, for crying out loud! bisexuality exists! it could literally be so easy as to have Stiles say something about liking a guy - even though that’s a total cop-out, but whatever - and he could still end up with Malia, and then Lydia. i’m not saying this to invalidate those ships (even though they’re not my thing, if they’re yours, than i’m happy for you), i’m saying it to validate that sexuality is not binary, and representation matters, and a running gag of the show shouldn’t be to make fun of an MC because “he seems kind of gay”.

seriously, the decision-makers shouldn’t be using one of the most beloved character of the show as the punching bag of thinly veiled homophobic jeers.

i don’t know, am i the only one who thinks this?

First, I hope you’re enjoying your game. One of my friends posted about how she’d just gotten her copy of it, and her husband’s response was basically “so, I’ll just bring you food occasionally and see you in a few days?" Also, I hope you’re feeling better. And man you are KILLING ME with these previews. Oh god, Peter, what are you planning now? How bad is this gonna hurt and for how long? (Don’t answer that, I’m afraid to know. XD )

I think all those Hogwarts Houses are excellent choices. I always think it’s fun to see how people sort various characters, because I rarely have any that I feel are firmly one House (maybe it’s because I’m a proud HuffleClaw, myself, doomed to waffle between Houses every time I take a quiz or read an analysis on the subject.) Side not - can you imagine the furor that would have occurred about a Slytherin and a Gryffindor hooking up in Fourth Year (I think?), and then pulling an innocent little Hufflepuff transfer under their spell? Would any of them have played Quidditch? (Peter I feel definitely played, though I can’t decide what position. Undecided on the other two.)

Poor Peter, having to behave himself. Although debatably as long as he kept the fangs put away it wouldn’t necessarily be a risk, though I can see him being worried anyway. That’s why he needs to find someone to spin his fur into yarn he can then make them scarves/gloves/sweaters/etc with. And why he’s so into the clothes sharing. Anything to get his scent on them as thoroughly as possible.

And I am so here for PTA Dad Peter. Helping out at school functions so he can keep an eye on the younger kids. Building new, supportive relationships with his older kids, helping them with college applications and essays, making up lists of stuff they’ll need for dorm rooms, finding apartments if any are going to the same or nearby schools and can share, making sure they all have pictures and mementos to help combat homesickness. And now I’m thinking about the memory quilt again. Goddammit I don’t want to make myself cry. Again. "Imagine Peter hearing their heartbeats for the first time." Oh nevermind, I see you’ll do it for me. Ugh, my feels. Peter shifting to his wolf form and curling protectively around them all the time, head pressed up to their abdomen so that he can listen and scent at maximum effectiveness. Them just gently stroking through his fur until one or both fall asleep. (Also, how quickly do the other wolves in the family pick up on the changes in scent? How do they react? How do the older kids react to the idea of more siblings in general?)

And you know that whichever one wasn’t the one pregnant at the time would be super protective at the time, then turn around and insist they were fine and that the others were worrying unnecessarily when they were the one pregnant. (Also, glad your brother was okay!) I also like that it apparently took them nearly 20 years to learn about planning for this sort of thing. I know you’ve mentioned Peter and Chris being the ones that do the stupid thing next chapter (or something to that effect), but really I feel the biggest moment of "what the hell, guys?” is Noah getting knocked up just two months after Chris. It’s like, you guys had a huge, in your face, live example of why protection is important, and yet… I’m also just going to assume that they have at least a king size bed to accommodate that many people, even if many of them are tiny people, and none of them mind piling. That’s still a lot of bodies cramming into one bed. (That much room would also come in very handy for…other reasons, which is why I feel certain Peter would insist upon it.)

Also, omg, I was not expecting to be attacked by those pictures like that. Tag your porn, dude XD . But really, can you imagine the poor, unsuspecting college friends their kids bring home for visits getting a triple barrel of that with no warning? Like they’ve just seen the goofy, weird pics that they have on their phone/on their walls. They were not prepared for the sheer DILF power of that household live and in person. But then, is anyone, really?

Loving all the names. I actually know a guy named John who has a son named Jackson, so that one was particularly amusing to me. I also noticed that none of the kids have been named after anyone in Noah’s family, at least so far. And don’t worry, I wasn’t expecting to have those spoiled yet, though I’m happy to know you liked some of my suggestions :D . Now if I could just remember which all ones I went with… Didn’t really think to put it in anywhere, but for some reason I’ve always liked Alexander as a middle name for Peter, though I remain undecided on the other two.

And yes, loving the idea of more family cosplay. Oh god, they would never get ANYWHERE at a con because they’d be getting stopped every 3 feet for pictures. For Star Trek, I feel like they’d do groupings from assorted series and versions. Chris, Peter, and Noah are totally OS Spock, Kirk, and Bones (Peter with strategically torn shirt, of course). I think Melissa would be their Uhura, and Natalie would be Yeoman Rand (she wants to see if she can fake the hairstyle), because I dare anyone to tell them they can’t pull off dresses that short. Since he has sword training from his hunter background, Melissa makes Julio be their Sulu. Boyd, Derek, and Jordan would be Picard, Riker, and Data (Derek would totally figure out how to do that weird way Riker sits down, too.) After much debate, I feel Stiles would be Kirk from the recent films (NuTrek, or whatever they call it), Jackson would be Spock, and Malia would be Bones. I think Lydia would make an excellent Uhura for them, as well. Scott would be Scotty because he can remember to answer to it, and it gives him an excuse to do a TERRIBLE fake accent. I’m leaning towards Isaac for their Chekov, but beyond that can’t think what to do with everybody else, I’m not familiar enough with the different tv shows.

Marvel we’ve talked about some. DC I have a few random ideas. I always thought it would be funny to see Peter, Derek, Jackson, and Liam do the assorted Robins. While I feel Peter is DEFINITELY more of a Jason personality wise, I think he’d be far more comfortable in Dick’s costume that Derek would be, and if Derek was Jason the heights would line up better. Jackson would be Tim, and Liam would be Damian (because who else would play DC’s tiny and angry than TW’s tiny and angry?) Also, don’t overlook the fun and variety of villains DC offers. The last group costume I did was a cross between Bill & Ted and assorted Bat-villains. We called it Bruce & Dick’s Excellent Adventure, and even photoshopped a sign to carry to help people get it. Among our line-up was Cleo-Catra, Ivybeth the First, The Poison Queen, Harley Antoinette, Joker Napoleon, Freud Nygma, and Bane-thoven. (I really need to do something with the various pieces of my costume someday.) I know there are several girls in the Bat-fam now, too, depending on who all wants to be a part of it, or if they want to skew more Justice League/Teen Titans/Young Justice.

Oh man, Disney. So many options. I feel like Lydia and Allison as Ariel and Prince Eric is a given. I also like the idea of Kira and Malia as Belle and the Beast, partially because of Malia’s issues about having to hide her nature, and also because I think she could absolutely rock that suit. Ben could join them as Chip. (Stiles would actually make an excellent Belle, but I feel that might just get weird.) I can see Danny helping Erica rig up a Sleeping Beauty dress with strands of LEDs that keep shifting from pink to blue to green so the dress keeps appearing to change color (it’s a massive hit.) I don’t know why, but I really want Stiles and Jackson as Elsa and Anna for some reason. Scott can join them as either Kristoff or Olaf, depending on the mood he’s in. Can’t quite decide for the other pack kids. Since the theme is nominally just fairy tales, I think the dads could just opt for a classier, fancier version of their Red Riding Hood looks. Maybe go for a steampunk edge or something (I would have included links here, but Google was not my friend today and I couldn’t find quite what I wanted.) Rich velvets and wools in vivid scarlet and forest-y greens, black and deep brown leather and suede, lots of polished buttons and buckles, loose cotton shirts unlaced at the throat. Mmm, yes. And Peter could have one of those super fancy Victorian type nightgowns with the long sleeves and high necks made out of super soft and fine materials. Instead of getting some kind of mask to wear, he’d just do his partial/beta/whatever you want to call it shift and let them add extra fur on with makeup to blend it in. Everyone just thinks it’s amazing effects work. He does opt for some cute wolf paw slippers since cons tend to get snotty about people going around barefoot. (Applying and removing the fur is also how they learn his ears are particularly…sensitive…to a delicate touch in that form.)

Lord of the Rings. Yes. Like, I can’t figure out who or any real details right now but. Just. Yes.

I feel like some years they enter the costume contest and some they don’t, just depending on their moods. (They totally take the Jurassic Park group to a con and people adore it. It makes for great skits.)

Random bonus thought for the day concerns dancing. I was thinking about the whole drag queen thing, and whether Jungle was around in the 90s, and it sort of segued into what types of dancers they are. I feel like Peter is a very good dancer. Not quite competition level, maybe, but very skilled, nonetheless. Like Malia, he’s just very comfortable in himself, in all forms, which helps with spatial and bodily awareness, in addition to his natural grace and balance. I also feel he’s the most likely to have taken, like, ballroom lessons or similar as a kid, maybe at a parent or grandparent’s insistence. With Noah I keep thinking about the various videos I’ve seen of Dylan dancing both outside of TW and as Stiles, and I feel his dad would have a very similar style of awkward disaster from the chest up, undulations worthy of a harem girl from the waist down (those Stilinski boys tend to leave a lot of confused boners in their wake.) In Noah’s case, settling into his frame after that last growth spurt and learning self-defense/martial arts helped smooth most of the awkward out, but it resurfaces every so often. Chris I think would be the least likely to dance, just because I feel his background would make him very self-conscious about it, whether he wants to feel that way or not. He’ll dance if it’s just the three of them or just family, or for a slow dance, but that’s normally it. However, if he’s drunk enough, or if Noah or Peter have dragged him into a dark corner to makeout for a while and gotten him all distracted and relaxed, he can be pursued out onto the floor to show off some actually pretty sweet moves once he lets go.

Anyway, gonna try and wrap this up, because I just realized it’s way later than I realized, and I should try and get some sleep at some point. Enjoy your game, I hope it’s epic!

When this little paragraph made me realize I had a gaping plot hole in this chapter and I got to go back to fix it. My god my friend, you are a lifesaver!

Because oh yeah I wanted to make it canon that wolves can detect a heartbeat of the embryo at 4-5 weeks. Which is about a week after the heart starts beating. And oh yeah, Chris is two months along by the time Noah gets pregnant... shit. I wrote something else in that flashback.

I also finished writing my chapter today! Yay! All glorious 13K of it. And I’ll be editing and posting tomorrow (or technically later today as it is past midnight.) Oh, I’m so excited, I’m so excited to see what you think!

As for the game, my god it is awesome!!! I played a few hours today but my heart raced so much I had to pause after two hours because I was getting dizzy because of my heart. But it’s a great game so far, very accessible and it just draws me in completely. It’s so good.

Definitely what I needed after my day at work.

hehehe I’m happy to see my previews and writing and getting emotions, it sounds so bad, but that makes me smile because it’s getting the desired response and that’s awesome.

I think Peter would’ve been a chaser or beater, somehow those seem to fit him well. Noah played but he was a keeper. (which would be funny if Peter was a chaser since they would get to battle lover’s disputes on the quidditch pitch) Chris I feel wouldn’t play quidditch, he’s too busy trying to keep track of his studies and really just likes to watch the sport but not participate. I think he’d be more into care of magical creatures and defends against the dark arts than any kind of sport. Though he does join and excel at the dueling club.

And the scandal of Peter and Noah dating from fourth year on would be massive, people can barely wrap their heads around it. But they’re happy and they’re just doing their own thing. And they don’t pay attention to anyone else but what they think and what Chris thinks of them.

<3 <3 it’s honestly an adorable image. The twins are very active when dad’s curled up around them, knowing just where to kick so Peter’s wakes up by a foot to the face. Though he doesn’t mind and just nudges back gently, letting out a low grumbling noise or whine that he knows the babies can hear in utero. As for how quickly, it depends on whether or not they smelled it before. Jackson, Ben, or Scott wouldn’t pick up on it. They weren’t wolves around pregnancies before. Malia and Derek catch on quickly though. They start noticing the scent change at around 5-6 weeks and hear the little heartbeats of the new family members.

Malia is moderately excited, she’s a little worried about her dad and how he will handle pregnancy at his age. (Although he’s like 35 when he gets pregnant, that counts as a geriatric pregnancy, dad... I’m worried.)

Stiles just flips between the two of extreme worry where he read up on pre-eclampsia and other pregnancy complications and birth complications and omg what if that happens. But he’s also so so excited because omg he’s finally gonna be an older brother!!

(He knows he’s Ben’s older brother, and he adores the tyke, but it’s different when you have a pregnancy close instead of a five-year-old sibling from one day to another.)

Jackson is pouty and a bit grumpy. He feels like he’s losing baby status in the family more and more and he doesn’t know how to deal. (Ben was a bit difficult to get used to for him but Chris handled it well by setting time aside for his baby Jackson. It helped. But now he’s a teen and there’s going to be two more babies and he’s- he doesn’t know how to feel. When Chris breaks the news he wants to have another baby he’s even more torn but he does come around, deciding that he will always be the baby of the family, even when he’s not.

It’s a good compromise. And the three parents set some time for each of their kids so everyone gets attention.

Allison handles it the best out of the teens, she’s very excited for all of them and immediately to volunteers helping with decorating the new nursery. She paints a few awesome looking murals of Winnie the Pooh or Bambi or some other cutesy Disney animals (Or maybe even a space/star wars or a fairy tale ala Fables theme?) and just goes all out. She also convinces Malia to quilt a blanket for the new baby and helps her knit a few cute hats. She’s just extremely excited and happy.

Ben is very happy too, he’s finally not the youngest anymore and he’s happy to be an older brother. He also finds it fascinating to learn how pregnancy works and how those babies got in there in the first place. They let him tell them how it works and explain some basic details, sperm, egg, you need both to have a baby and the baby grows in pops and papa’s belly. But they leave out any details that Ben doesn’t figure out or doesn’t ask about to keep it more age-appropriate for him.

Though Ben’s smart and he figures out a lot on his own. Noah and Peter are honestly impressed by Ben’s deductive skills. They knew Jackson and Stiles had them, but they hadn’t expected Ben to show them too. He’s a quiet observer.

They were not prepared for the sheer DILF power of that household live and in person. But then, is anyone, really?

Honestly, I don’t think anyone is. Nobody can resist the sheer DILF power.

Since the theme is nominally just fairy tales, I think the dads could just opt for a classier, fancier version of their Red Riding Hood looks. Maybe go for a steampunk edge or something (I would have included links here, but Google was not my friend today and I couldn’t find quite what I wanted.) Rich velvets and wools in vivid scarlet and forest-y greens, black and deep brown leather and suede, lots of polished buttons and buckles, loose cotton shirts unlaced at the throat. Mmm, yes. And Peter could have one of those super fancy Victorian type nightgowns with the long sleeves and high necks made out of super soft and fine materials. Instead of getting some kind of mask to wear, he’d just do his partial/beta/whatever you want to call it shift and let them add extra fur on with makeup to blend it in. Everyone just thinks it’s amazing effects work. He does opt for some cute wolf paw slippers since cons tend to get snotty about people going around barefoot. (Applying and removing the fur is also how they learn his ears are particularly…sensitive…to a delicate touch in that form.)

I- this whole thing? yes. Headcanon accepted because it is that good. I can literally just see them going in steampunk hunter, red riding hood and the wolf. thank you for putting that image in my mind XD

I feel like Peter is a very good dancer. Not quite competition level, maybe, but very skilled, nonetheless. Like Malia, he’s just very comfortable in himself, in all forms, which helps with spatial and bodily awareness, in addition to his natural grace and balance. I also feel he’s the most likely to have taken, like, ballroom lessons or similar as a kid, maybe at a parent or grandparent’s insistence. With Noah I keep thinking about the various videos I’ve seen of Dylan dancing both outside of TW and as Stiles, and I feel his dad would have a very similar style of awkward disaster from the chest up, undulations worthy of a harem girl from the waist down (those Stilinski boys tend to leave a lot of confused boners in their wake.) In Noah’s case, settling into his frame after that last growth spurt and learning self-defense/martial arts helped smooth most of the awkward out, but it resurfaces every so often. Chris I think would be the least likely to dance, just because I feel his background would make him very self-conscious about it, whether he wants to feel that way or not. He’ll dance if it’s just the three of them or just family, or for a slow dance, but that’s normally it. However, if he’s drunk enough, or if Noah or Peter have dragged him into a dark corner to makeout for a while and gotten him all distracted and relaxed, he can be pursued out onto the floor to show off some actually pretty sweet moves once he lets go.

Malia definitely inherited Peter’s dancing skills, I like to think Jackson did as well. Those three are the best dancers in the family. They just move with natural ease.

Allison is a decent dancer, her gymnastics training really helps but she’s not as fluent as her brother, sister, or dad.

I feel like Noah and Stiles have awkward flailing down to a T but every once in awhile there’s a hip movement worthy of a fucking professional dancer and it’s very confusing. But yeah, totally agree with that assessment of them.

Chris isn’t much of a dancer and neither is Ben. Both of them are very self-conscious. Chris gets better when he’s drunk because he let’s go of insecurity but even then it’s not great. He just doesn’t dance, it’s not his thing. Although he was a very good grinding and hip rotation move. He’s also pretty good at jump style once he lets himself go and just turns his mind off. but the rhythmic jumping just feels natural to him. He also likes to slow dance since he can just bury his face in Noah’s shoulder or nuzzle Peter’s cheek and just forget about everything else.

Also, I like to think they all love to sing. Chris’s voice is best suited for country I feel like. Noah’s more for singer-songwriter. And Peter just loves singing pop songs and he knows how to hit some high notes.

And now I am going to bed because It’s almost three am XD And I need some sleeps. Thankfully I have the day off this sunday.

Do you have any recs where an alive! Hale pack reacts to Steter? Whether they can't believe Peter has found someone just as snarky or if they don't think it's gonna last and whatever is Peter doing to the poor boy? The fics don't have to be centred this though, just some interesting reactions from the Hale pack would be nice. :) Thanks!
