hi!! So. i like writing for Trouble and my MC but i spend so much time clowning on him and making up silly scenarios that now i have no idea how to write him actually catching on to one of the moves she makes and what kinds of moves he cant explain away. To answer your question, I like this excerpt from the old novels to explain how I think Trouble can be in a romance: I usually envision him being casual or friendly and light-hearted, and then catching onto something--some shift in the mood or a lingering glance--and then kind of abruptly shifting into a more intense version of himself. It's not a side of himself he shows very often--we're mostly exposed to the goofy, jocular Trouble, but that 'intense' dominant Trouble is there, lurking underneath it all, and that's kind of the part that he struggles with because it's also tied up in his ferocious past and his temper. It's the same Trouble who can go from smiling and laughing with his friends in a bar to completely unsmiling and intimidating when he overhears some guy being a dickhead to a server nearby, except obviously in these scenarios it's sexual/romantic tension he's responding to (even if he doesn't fully know it's that) rather than regular like situational tension. I don't know if you have access to the alpha build, but the scene in the cave in Chapter 7 when he's warming up MC's hands or the abrupt change from "yay we're having fun" to "something just happened" in his latest day off (when Cordy flirts with you) are good examples of this, too! This sort of stilted "everything is great 95% of the time and then 5% of the time something happens and he can't control it" that's impeding him and MC's easy friendship is what's really throwing Trouble for a loop; he starts to feel guilty and confused and tormented about it because he thinks he's the only one feeling these things and getting in the way of what should be a smooth companionship, so he's just... feeling a lot of things and not knowing what to do with them, lol.

So I imagine 'heated makeout' tends to happen during one of these sudden changes to 'intense Trouble,' when he catches on to something he can't ignore--but I generally don't think it happens because of an outright flirtation or hint of MC's, because he can usually just laugh those off as them just joking around, so he doesn't really respond to those like one might expect? He's dazzlingly good at not catching on to things like that (short of an outright serious confession), so maybe that's why you're having trouble imagining it! I tend to imagine it happening entirely randomly, during some moment of unthinking intimacy, like in the cave in Chapter 7 or during a mission when emotions are high or something like that. Here's another example of what I'm thinking of!

...Or something like that, idk lol! Obviously take all of this with a huge grain of salt and don't let me influence you; however you write Trouble and MC's romance is fantastic! Hopefully some of these tips help you in some way!

Pardon me, I was just a little overwhelmed for a second there. I'm flattered and flustered all at once. I'm just a silly fan who likes to ramble all the thoughts I have for this lovely game. I had no idea that I rambled enough to be a prominent search result on google. Wow.

Anyway... back to the topic. While we can't say with complete certainty what happened to Jack in 1984 on the day he died, since the game's story is still in development, evidence strongly hints that he was murdered. I theorized in the past that he was shot due to some teaser art and some sprites Sauce was kind enough to share that show him with what look suspiciously like gunshot wounds.

How the incident went down exactly is unknown, but this teaser certainly shows the brutal aftermath. Not to mention the demo shows us hints in the form of childish doodles before the start of the game. It seems there were children in the audience who witnessed the final moments of Sunny Day Jack...

This bit of lost media from Sauce's old twitter is still so chilling to think about. Any development art can't be technically counted as canon if it's not on any official SDJ page, but this heavily suggests how the incident went down.

As for my headcanons about what happened... They've developed somewhat over time, as you can see in a few of my previous posts here, here, and here. I also touched on it in a potential storyline idea for my fanfic, Sunshine in Hell, with my version of his sunshine, Alice, being the reincarnation of someone who unfortunately witnessed the incident. I also played with an AU idea where MC/Alice time travels back to 1984 to stop the murder from happening.

While we do have hints that Jack was the victim of murder, and even what might have been the cause of death, we don't have any clues as to why it happened. We also don't know why his soul was trapped in the tape and turned him into the ghost(?) we know and love. We have a lot of speculation, from his past as Joseph Cullman catching up to him in a violent way, a jealous co-star wanting to take him out, or even a conspiracy set up by LambsWork Productions itself. It could go in any direction at this point.

Sorry I can't offer a definitive answer as to how Jack died or why, but I hope this at least gives you a few things to think about. I'm definitely looking forward to finding out the answers when the full game is released.

I started following this ig account ss.sterek [@holycafe if I'm not mistaken], liking all the coldflash posts, then getting curious about their other posts as well.

This is how Sterek came to be.

At first, it was a polite indifference, but the more I saw the sterek posts the more it got interesting to me, until one day I started searching for any Sterek content.

Until I started searching for any content on Tumblr, specifically.

Until I liked so many incorrect quotes and crack posts about this so-called Sourwolf and Spaz.

At some point their dynamic became SO addicting, I decided to start reading fics.

Did I understand any of the mentionned canon? Heck no.

(The Teen Wolf Wiki Page was a huge help in that regard, explaining to me what a kanima or a nogitsune was for example.)

Still, I remember the first fics I read were about Stiles being Pack Mom to the Wonder betas!! =D

Also fics closely (ish) related to canon...So yeah they always referred to stuff happening in the show that I usually didn't get...

With patience, some research, and LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS OF FICS, I began grasping things and characters surrounding the Sterek pair.

So I may not know about the Derek and the Stiles from the show, but I know of the fandom version of them.

Beleive me, it puzzled me how big it got to me. (BUT I'M LOVING IT!)

Like I probably have 2,000 bookmarked Sterek fics on AO3 plus the ones I've yet to read on my marked-for-later and the other ones I read without bookmarking them (rookie mistake xD).

I think the writers and the Sterek content creators have taken the grumpy-sunshiny & dry-sarcastic dynamics and wrote....how to say it? almost different characters than from the show? To the point I didn't need the show to understand them.

Nor did I wish to.

Actually, I tried watching after S06 got out, but didn't last more than 15 min maybe? My brain was too wired up on the Sterek vibe to fully appreciate the show. (Maybe my teenage ass would have liked it... But as I was watching soooo maaaaany tv-shows already, it was impossible to start watching Teen Wolf, and when I first heard of Sterek I was at Uni and really didn't have the time - But OH LORD THE NUMBER OF FICS I READ... My life saver to countless sleepless nights unable to close my eyes xD)

I realize this was for @redheadgleek but: baby got back being the plagarism scandal? or something else ?? how many episodes did they have prefilmed before a season aired??

Writing it down before I manage to forget about it. Adam wasn't cast until rather late in the game. We had spoilers for Christmas -- and there's a lot of stuff around the filming of White Christmas (Chris and Darren had film - and fans had film, and omg it was the best time.)

(Also - I'll have to do a longer post - because there was some gossipy Chris stuff going on, too.)

Anyway - fun fact: Adam's Apples was originally Paul's Peaches. And "Paul" was going to be a three episode guest star the same way Darren was contracted that way for Blaine. However, a few things happened.

RIB and Co did not get permission to use the version of Baby Got Back that they used, and it was a huge ordeal, and the show got sued (I believe) for it. And that soured people on the character -- before he really had anything to do.

Also - there was enough fan backlash, and all the stuff with Cory going on, that I'm sure they just didn't want to deal with the character, and he was kind of unceremoniously written off.

Unfortunately, the actor also gave this awkward interview where he tried to talk up how important he was and while I'm sure the guy is a nice guy, the interview didn't exactly paint him in the best light, so that didn't help.

this is all very interesting bc brody to me is sm more interesting than adam ???? like at least he has a personality other than British and Beanie.

There was a lot /a lot/ of Rachel hate in Season 4. Somewhat because Finchel was so irritating during Season 3 we were all collectively done with it. Partly because Rachel's storyline, when told week to week, is much more irritating than when you can see where it's headed when you watch it in bulk. And... at least from the Klaine side of things -- he was just another character taking up space and detracting from Kurt/Klaine/Whomever's story.

(I do feel differently about a lot of this stuff now - I'm just kind of giving insight as to what was going on back then.)

were the newbies just disliked bc they were new ? watching it this year they were just…not fleshed out and thats why a lot of them didnt stick. do u think if they were fleshed out early fandom would have received it better, or it would have mattered?

There were a lot of reasons the newbies were disliked.

-Part of it was because the Glee Project kind of shoehorned some of them in, and the cast was already bloated enough

-Part of it was because they felt like carbon copies of characters we already liked and enjoyed -- and now we can't see a lot of those characters and we have these pale in comparison copies.

-Part of it was because the marketing team was shoving them down our throats before the season started -- no joke, the season 3 dvds had a 'Jarley' featurette on it.

-Part of it was because we knew the break ups were happening, and it sucked to not only have screen time taken away from your favorites, but now they're miserable when they are on screen, so it made people feel resentful.

-Part of it was that they just weren't well drawn characters, and my god, the last thing we wanted was another love triangle.

-Part of it was because a lot of the stories they were telling had already been done.

-Part of it was because the newbies really did not interact with the old cast (in any meaningful way). Their stories were segregated, and it felt like a different show.

-Part of it was because it felt like the Newbies stories were being pushed to the forefront, and characters like Sam, Tina, and Artie were still sidelined and sacrificed (not to mention favorite characters leaving the show all together.)

-Part of it was that Season 3 had been so tiring (and was so not good -- don't let people today fool you on that) that a lot of people were just done with the whole thing.

The Season 6 newbies were much better received. Not only were they fresher characters, who didn't resemble old ones, they were integrated much better. The old cast didn't take a backseat to them, and instead they were used to further the plot of the old cast. If they had done with the Season 4 newbies what they did with the Season 6 newbies, I think they would have been better liked.

what made u want to become a policeman?

Heh, well ain't this a funny sight? Just a few weeks ago, I helped conduct a seminar on stranger danger at a local preschool and some of the kids asked the same thing.

Given that you ain't your average five-year-old, I'll fill you in on more details on my road to the force than the sugar-coated one I handed out to them kids.

Well, that's what I would've done if Tumblr hadn't crashed multiple times before I finished it...

And I worked so hard to go into detail too...

Well, anyway, a summarized version it is then.

I really wanted to buy a Gundam model when I was a kid. I earned and saved my allowance into a piggy bank, but it wasn't enough.

I felt cheated and angry so I stole the toy from the store and ran home with it.

I showed it to my mom, who made my dad come over from his paper to see it.

Dad was happy for a bit, before asking questions and ordering me to see the piggy bank.

Dad figured out that I stole it when he felt the bank was full of money and proceeded to beat a lesson into me.

The only reason I didn't get beaten into a fine pulp was my mom breaking the heavy piggy bank over my dad's head and immediately rushing me to the hospital.

Ever since then, my mom was protective of me and my dad slowly distanced himself from us.

His distancing then turned into absences that began with a single day and turning into multiple weeks.

Me and my mom found out that my dad was never coming home when a police officer came over to our house to say that my dad died on the streets.

Apparently, his absences was for his petty theft spree since he lost his job and the money for the family was running dry.

And that's about it. Honestly, looking back on this, I really put a lot of detail in my story that could've been shorter. Can't blame a man from trying, I guess.

Anyway, the important parts of this story that made me want to become a policeman was when my dad beat me till I was black and blue and my mom saving me from entering the Pearly Gates early. I'm sure you understand what I'm trying to tell you at this point, but I'll still say it regardless.

When I was on the floor, bracing my little body from the blows from my dad, that's when I truly felt like my entire world crumbling before me. I felt many things during that harrowing experience. A lot of pain, obviously, but I also felt so small, like I can be blown away in a gust of wind. Yet, I wanted that, an escape from the ruins of my world. To get away from being the poor fool who got caught in the crossfire at the battleground that was once home.

And yet, when I thought I was done for, I heard a smash in the numbing silence and the tinkling of hope. The next thing I knew, the punches stopped and I was being carried off to who knows where before I passed out from the pain.

When I finally woke up from the pain, I was lying in a hospital bed in the Sakurami City General Hospital. My mom wasn't in the room with me, but when I rustled around the bed to get comfortable, she bursted from the door and immediately hugged me, tears in my eyes, and told me that everything was over and no one was going to hurt me anymore.

It was at that moment I knew what I wanted to be. I wanted to be someone like my mom, who risked getting herself beat up to save someone like me, a petty thief in dire need, from people like my dad, who didn't hesitate to become violent at the drop of a hat. After asking my teacher if there was a kind of job like that, they told me that sounds similar to a police officer and the rest was history.

Sorry, for the long story, but I had to get a lot of it out for you to get the full picture.

YES everyone go look at these right now (Danny / Sam / Tucker / Jazz / Valerie / Paulina)

The short answer is that I love them, you put in a lot of heart, style, and personality while keeping the characters recognizable in a very elegant way. I know you've talked a lot about the thought that went into your design choices already, so I'm just going to go over a few of my favorites

Danny - the little pins on his jacket! the goggles! the platforming on his boots that resemble astronaut tread! the kind of dorky kind of cool kind of both factor of both his short sleeved hoodie and his vest!

Sam - the DRAMA of Sam's outfit! the specific little detail that her boot tread is spikier! the variation in tones of purple so the design flows well without becoming cluttered! the pops of green not just in the skirt but also in the necklace and hairties! the little mole!

Tucker - I like that his color pallet has a lot of his original browns, greens, and yellows, for soothing neutral/earth tones, and that you've switched out the red for a calmer blue; his color pallet has always been my least favorite to work with, and this is much nicer, and lends itself well to the sense of Tucker as the person who most in their trio would be happy with things more mellow and as they were. But he's got his own sense of excited, interests, and quirks too, highlighted in a fun way by his gloves, earring, and hat pins

Jazz - the smart young professional vibes of her tied back hair, collared shirt, clearly attended to nails, and wristwatch are TOP tier. I also like how you swapped her plain BLACK sweater and shoes for a dark teal with some lighter patterning, it keeps her 'visually distinct' canon element while toning down the ways it was a little too striking and drew focus

Also I mentioned in the previous ask you sent me that I think it's very funny the trio's canon designs are not like. for the same season of the year. so i just wanted to highlight that in your version they are in fact all wearing a long sleeved layer, if a very different one each- they're more in sync but still unique, and likewise Paulina and Valerie are both in short sleeves, and are also both mostly monochrome, coming from the same group; and Jazz, who is in neither of those groups, has three-quarter length sleeves, her own thing.

Hey! Glad you like my GOW stuff!

So I do post it, but it's a nightmare to find because:

1. I only started seriously drawing about a year ago so there isn't that much of it

2. A lot of it is posted on my Dragon Age blog because for a long time most if not all of it was Dragon Age

3. I don't have a consistent tag because... I don't think I've earned one. I'm not an artist so I shouldn't have an art tag, and if I did have one it would be dishonest. What I draw doesn't feel like art. I know it doesn't make sense but it's a thing

BUT instead of scavenger hunting or making you scavenger hunt down my drawings I'll just post them all here.

Here's my first idea of Hel (going to redesign her soon. The overall colors and placement of the skull will remain but otherwise she's gonna change pretty drastically)

That's pretty much all the GOW stuff! Here's the Dragon Age stuff rapid-fire if you're interested. It's literally all FenHawke. Except for the one with Dorian and the Inquisitor that one was a gift for my friend. As you go from left to right top to bottom it gets older

If you dug maybe you could find some doodles but 2022 is the year I started drawing. Honest to god started. From the ground up. I'm fresh as fuck

I know most people would say I can call myself an artist, call these drawings art, and have an art tag but I just. Honestly do not think I've earned it. I don't hate this stuff, I'm showing it to you because I'm proud of most of it! But I still do not think I've earned the right to any of that

I don't know what earning it looks like but I truly don't think I've reached it, and I know that's dumb, but it's very real for me. If people are starting to ask maybe I'll make one, even though it really feels like I shouldn't

Making an RTS Game - Part 3

Hello !

Here I am once again to talk about my game. This time, less things done overall however some interesting topics I will talk about. This part will be dedicated to the movement of the units on the map.

1. "Optimizations" on procedural generation

But first, updates about terrain generation!

This is not really an optimization, but in order to generate the whole map, I had to cut the mesh in several small pieces, more commonly called chunks. Indeed, I learned the hard way (by smashing my head for 1 hour before getting the answer) that the number of vertices for each mesh in Unity is limited to 65535 (vertices). Let's do a quick calculation: If I generate a 100x100 tile map, then there will be 10.000 total tiles on the map. With 4 vertices per tile, this gives us 4 * 10.000 = 40.000, so far so good. However, if I generate a map of 150x150 tiles, we have 4 * (150 * 150) = 4 * 22.500 = 90.000 vertices! And so, here is the problem. Once identified, I could start working on the "chunking system" a.k.a. creating several small meshes of a certain size (for example, a chunk of 10 tiles each) and placing them in the right place. So each chunk is only 10*10*4 = 400 vertices.

Everything worked the first time as you can see…

But I finally got everything working after a few (long) hours of work. Here is the initial result:

And the updated version with much nicer colors (and addition of sand tiles, a pain in the ass, also) :

The next thing to do to further optimize it is to do m u l t i t h r e a d i n g, but that will be for later.

2. A* Pathfinding Algorithm

As I can't use Unity's native NavMesh system since I generate the world procedurally (or I would have to do more research about it), I needed a way to move my units on the map while avoiding obstacles. The solution is simple: the A* Pathfinding algorithm. I'm not going to talk about it in detail, because people much smarter than me are already doing it: watch the Code Monkey video.

It's a bit complicated to see but you can see the green line that corresponds to the path the entity will take.

And here, a small clip to see everything in action.

3. Path smoothing with Chaikin's Algorithm

At this point, the unit can move on a path to the chosen destination but the path is rather… linear. I wanted to find a way to round out the path. So I inadvertently (or by a divine message) discovered a site that showed me the Chaikin algorithm. A little more research and I was able to find another site that detailed how the algorithm works. With that, I was able to implement it and round the sharp turns along the way.

As you can see, the path is much smoother, as the algorithm adds extra points to round everything out.

4. Unit Formation

And finally, I started implementing what we call unit formations. This is simply placing the units in a certain way, more generally in a grid. For this, I was once again able to rely on an amazing tutorial from Tarodev that explains how to implement this concept.

I slightly modified the code to allow the addition of an offset, which allows me to move the center of the formation to the mouse position. As you can see below, the units move to a selected point in the formation.

Thinking about it, I don't really like this system and it doesn't look very organic, and I'm thinking of changing to a simpler system where the units move to a random point within a radius of the chosen point, which will allow me to take advantage of the implementation of the Poisson Disk Sampling algorithm I coded (copied) earlier for an old project (damn, it takes a lot of algorithms to make a game…).

I'm also thinking of trying to implement the concept of boids to make the movement of units even more unique, as well as avoiding unintended collisions between them. But I'm going to focus on the essentials first, and the next step will be to implement the first bit of gameplay: harvesting resources.

it took me this long to realize just how deeply lonely keith is and just how much his galra side effects him. i have also renewed my focus on his inner anger and rage and how much that side of himself scares him (versus how necessary it is on the front lines of a war, if he wants to keep his loved ones safe), but the loneliness that comes with that is something i haven't explored since like...2018 maybe? 2019? my fic output went down since 2019 so that could be one reason why i haven't explored as much of it but also just. i think with the distance from the show between 2019 and now i lost sight of some of the characters a little bit, and i feel like i'm finally finding my footing again

also renewing my focus on survival. how far are you willing to go to survive? to keep your loved ones safe? how do you grapple with the price of that, knowing your actions to save one person may hurt countless others? or, how do you look your loved one in the eye and tell them that one life does not outweigh infinite others, even if it is their life, specifically? wough. i missed this a lot

22. share a deleted scene, if you have one

i have so many deleted scenes all the time always. anyway i've tried and failed to rewrite the next chapter of stealing our own place in the sun so many times. vague spoilers ahead but a dozen different versions of this got scrapped:

Shiro wished he had a hangover. He woke to the sound of clapping and groaned, squinting against a bright light. Everything ached, but especially his head and his arms. When he tried to move them, he realized that his hands were bound behind him, and everything jerked into sharper focus as instinct kicked in. “Oh, good, you’re awake! No need to panic!” Shiro whipped his head around, ignoring the pain in his neck and shoulders. He was bound to a chair in what could only be called a dressing room—there was a lighted mirror behind him. In another corner, there was a chair where his suitcase had been tossed haphazardly, Paladin armor spilling over the sides of it. Beside him stood a random alien wearing a headset, who looked more than a little terrified at whatever expression Shiro wore. Then, in front of him, a small green alien in a trenchcoat who was smiling far too broadly for the situation. “Hi, Shiro!” said the alien, whose name Shiro didn’t know. Shiro blinked and bit down on every question that bubbled up inside of him. He knew better than to just give information away. Then again, biting his tongue in the bar had done him no good, because the grifter alien was really a bounty hunter who knew exactly what and who he was. Or something like that. This alien didn’t look the part of a bounty hunter, but really, Shiro had no idea at this point. “Oh,” the alien said when Shiro didn’t answer. He cocked his head. “We didn’t mess you up too badly with that stun gun, did we?” Before Shiro could react, the alien raised one of his four arms and slapped Shiro across the face.

Don't match how? I don't even know what synchronization theory you're referring to because it sure isn't mine but I highly doubt it's ruined. I think the fuck not lol, look at this. (below is a modified version of a spreadsheet I got from @/curritta28 on twitter, thank you!)

If we're just going to look at their tour dates to see if they "match" or not, whatever that means, we basically see that Harry can be anywhere until his tour starts in 6 months from now (apart from 2 dates during Coachella, but ok not part of the ask even). Then we have one week, the start of LOT, where they're for sure on different continents, but right after Louis takes a 2 week break. July is the only month that's actually providing the anti juice here as while Harry's touring Europe, Louis has a few shows himself in the beginning of the month, and will be in Australia at the end, with 10 days of them on opposite parts of the world. But there's a week break in Louis' schedule right before as well. Then from August to the end of the year it's just wide open (it's not, because DWD promo and most likely much much more, but again nothing to do with tour) and they could be anywhere. So yeah I don't know what anon tried to say here with it not matching. See for yourself: In the L+H column below it's highlighted in red when it's pretty much not possible for them to physically see each other, yellow is just where I thought it's very unlikely, and green is possible. It's a bit subjective so do look at the dates yourself rather than just the colors there here it is:

Also this was sent within 15 minutes of Harry announcing his new tour dates yesterday, which is funny because that is in no way enough time to actually check properly... literally saw news of them both touring and the first thing that came to mind is to bug larries about other people's previous posts about old tours asdfssdfe

And what does match even mean, what does synchronising even mean in this case, because both larrie and anti alike could argue both of the following to be a "match": 1) Harry and Louis' tourdates leaving room to see each other, that they take turns so to say doing a bunch of shows while the other takes a break and vice versa, but also the opposite: 2) them touring at the exact same time (like synchronising that they will both not be home, both working, taking into account each others work schedules, to then be home at the same time again) So no matter how you view it you can just.. make it work for your own beliefs? So it doesn't do anything.

Anyway, thanks anon for giving me the motivation to make that overview, as you can see they pretty much can always, apart from a couple of weeks, be together if we follow their tour dates only, so congratulations you played yourself.

And now I'll go on a rant about this whole discussion in general, because I'm honestly a little annoyed about this idea that they'd have to work their schedules around each other in order for them to be together. And seeing this overview... I for one am gonna be relieved there will be shows where nobody will try to take potato pictures of shadowy figures in boxes or tiktok receipts or OMG U GUYS THIS IS LOUIS *points at a chair* ajssjshs.

But apart from those few weeks they do have all the room in the world to follow each other around, that doesn't mean they are. I don't think they are. I think with a pandemic (not only the part where it's harder to travel but the amount of times they had to reschedule all these shows I am honestly getting worked up with the idea of there being a possible date to do a show but them going "nah not that one because then that'll break the 2 week rule lol" I mean is that really what you want them to do? I hope no one actually does?), their careers, their many business ventures, and a long term settled not to mention closeted relationship, just being a fking adult asdjks, I don't think it's realistic to expect them to work stuff around each other, like at all. Although it does seem they are still putting in effort to do so, with for instance Louis showing up in LA around Harry's shows there, so going to a few shows sure, having breaks together if it works out sure, but I don't think there's much logic to the idea of them following each other around the globe as some kinda necessity (and often it's about Louis following Harry and solo louies hating the fuck out of it, I know, and yeah honestly kinda same.)

Plus they'll sure fill these huge green spree times with other things, like promo etc, and we will see how they're both doing different stuff on many of these gaps there, but let's just see what anon said here, if their "tour dates don't match at all".... if you wanna take one week in June + a minimum of 10 days / maximum of the whole month of July of them both doing what they love as "proof" of them not being together be my fucking guest, that makes as little sense as assuming larries are taking them being MIA, or all these green bits in this case, as "proof" of them being together, because it doesn't.

!!!! hi star!!! i had a very good day so far, which unfortunately means i need to do responsible things this evening XD but!! my d&d group had an extra session this morning and it lasted four whole hours and it was so so fun!!! we had to sign a blood contract with a super powerful tiefling duke promising to free him from his contract with an even more powerful, possibly evil, god, and so we have mayyybe doomed ourselves and/or will have to sign away one of our own souls in his place in order to complete this objective, but i'm sure it's fine XDD

oooh!!! my family actually didn't vacation very much growing up, bc travel logistics with very small children are just not fun lol, and there was literally always someone under 3 years old in my family until i was 15. so mostly we did daytrips once a year to someplace nearbyish that i actually will not post the name of here bc it is famous and will pinpoint my location more than i am comfy with out here where anyone can see. and i do love going to that place a lot, partly bc it's fun and partly bc we've been so many times that all the things i like to do there feel like routines and i know just how to do them, which is very nice. but!! aside from that!! i have been to san francisco 3 times now, and i love it there SO much, it is so fun and so aesthetically pleasing and all the touristy things to do are very fun and there's lots of really good vegetarian food options and just. i really like it there. my favorite thing so far in the whole city is the exploratorium, which is a really cool interactive science museum, and my favorite part of THAT is that in the light & color exhibit, there's a game where it will randomly generate a color and then you have RGB controls and you try and match the color as close as you can, and i have really REALLY good color vision and also i learned a lot about how color works in my major, so i am FANTASTIC at this game and it's so much fun for me, i could literally play it for hours. and last time we went, i got these very fun round rainbowy-lens kaleidoscope-y glasses at the gift shop, and they are SO fun, they make me look like an even gayer version of doc ock!!!!

i actually do not!! i was homeschooled my whole life until college, which meant i had a lot of control over what i learned (as long as i met the legal requirements for what kinds of classes i needed each year), and i just was never interested enough in any instrument to actually dedicate myself to music lessons for long enough to learn it lol.

aaaa that is hard lol. and i didn't watch much tv growing up so i don't have the nostalgia factor to help me decide. does sanders sides count? /hj i also REALLY love good omens but again that's a miniseries so it only sort of counts. hmm. maybe the good place. that was fantastic. yeah i guess i will say the good place. and my whole family also loves gbbo, we watch it together a lot!!

I see these people (particularly talking about byler shippers/ST fans) who are so good at picking up on details. Like understanding colour meanings, reading body language, finding parelels, etc in shows and stuff and like HOWW. I want to analyze(?) shows but idk how. Sorry if this isn't stuff u want ppl to ask but I thought you might be able to give tips. But yeah that's all.

Hey there! I do want people to ask such questions actually!! Please don't be ashamed for asking. I don't know if there is an overarching way of doing this, but my own experience comes from AP literature classes back in high school, reading How Not To Write A Novel and This Is The Year You Write Your Novel, but you don't need such things to analyze basic media. As much as we make memes and jokes about the literature teacher asking students why the author made the curtains blue, that type of analysis does matter. Be critical about what a writer/musician/director/artist puts before you, because there is often a hidden statement there--that is a large purpose of the creative arts: to convey thoughts/ideas/meaning in uniquely intricate ways that pull you in with the desire to understand. And being critical does not mean being negative! Criticism is simply another term for analysis in this context, specifically literature/art focused.

(And I'm not talking about bubblegum pop here--a lot of that stuff is mindless made only for the money with no inherent value but said money.)

I've stated this before, but in writing, when something is emphasized, it matters--classic example: mention of the gun on the mantle meaning the gun comes into play later in the story. In shows, the combination of directing and set pieces makes or breaks things. Color theory/symbolism in literature and media is as old as time itself I feel. Think about flower language! We see in color and associate various emotions with color--blue is calm, yellow is happy, red is anger or lust, orange is warmth, etc etc--and bringing emphasis to these shades helps color a scene and develop a tone for the event occurring. If you have watched Marvel's Loki TV show, in the episode where Sylvie and Loki have conversation on the train, there are many hues of purple, pink, and blue surrounding them. The director herself stated she wanted this tone to emphasize Loki's bisexuality--further made clear by Loki himself admitting he has likes for princes and princesses. When looking at queer media / relationships between same-gendered characters, such detailed analysis is necessary because so rarely is any queer affection broadcast on screen in the blatant ways of straight couples. The way to see a romantic relationship is in the details: the gazes, the parallels to straight couples (whether in clothing, location, dialogue, you name it--a straight couple often wears shades of red and blue and the same-sex couple does the same, a phrase said between a romantic straight couple is said either exactly the same or close enough by a same-sex one), the hints of rainbows correlating with characters or open closet doors cough Mike Wheeler cough. If you can take a canon same-sex duo, theoretically genderbend one character, and their canon relationship reads as the most romantic, caring relationship you've seen/read, then there's your answer.

In the case of Stranger Things for example, eyeing the open closet doors Mike hangs around brings about a few thoughts: 1) the phrase "coming out of the closet", 2) the fact that the opposite could have been true (the closet door being closed) but it ISN'T so this was a deliberate choice that deserves attention, 3) what happens in the scenes that requires that focus on the closet door. And yes, the door is in the background and it is not the MAIN focus, but it is present. Mike is in front of it, has a one way sign going toward it, that means something.

I like to think about things in opposites: as in, for the example of the gun, there is an alternate version of the story where the gun isn't mentioned or simply does not exist on the mantle, but the story we have here includes the gun on the mantle. Therefore, that gun means something--whether the main character grabs it in a rush for her life, finger trembling on the trigger as she points the barrel at her assaulter, or an old man tells the story of how he earned the gun to his granddaughter as he lies on his deathbed, wishing for the days long gone of his youth. That gun matters because it was crafted a scene in the story. That closet door matters. That pink, purple, blue bisexual lighting matters.

It takes time and practice as does anything, to start seeing hints and stuff. You ever notice how in kids movies, there's dirty jokes for the adults--you wouldn't get it if you didn't know, if you weren't already open to the concept of hotboxing a car the way it looks Shaggy and Scooby are doing in the live action 2001 Scooby Doo movie. Straight people aren't going to put much emphasis on an open closet door as say queer people because we know what an open closet door means in our lives, what it stands for. Same thing goes for other hints and such in media. When black people--myself included--were upset about that white Animal Crossing player on Twitter who used the afro puff hairstyle and called it space buns and doubled down on her commentary, unwilling to admit that the particular hairstyle was puffs, not buns, because of the hair texture used in the styling. That is something non-black people may not have noticed, hence calling it space buns. But it matters; that detail Nintendo added matters and brings new life to the game and helps black players feel more like their characters in game.

While that bit about Scooby Doo and Animal Crossing may feel out of left field, imagine both media pieces without that hotboxing joke and without the addition of black hairstyles. Completely different movie as an adult not having that joke to laugh at, completely different game to play without having hairstyles to relate to. Completely different story not having that gun on the mantle, or having Mike standing near open bedroom doors (which really does not have meaning in my mind unless you're in California suffering through an earthquake), or having purple curtains instead of blue. It takes time to see those things, and of course not every little thing matters (the shape of a cloud doesn't matter until someone says they think it looks like a dog) but together, these details build a story/universe/relationship/etc that invites people to critique and pull whatever meaning they desire from it.
