This drabble is written for @buckybarnesalways​, who was kind enough to send in multiple prompts for me to play with. I wanted to keep them all in separate posts since I am still planning on expanded the three drabbles that get the most “votes” into larger fics. 

Prompt Request: “Can you just ... stay here? and hold me”

This was a fun one, set mid 3x04. I hope you enjoy it!! 💛

Carlos stands at the window, body turned so he can see TK sleeping in his hospital bed while he watches the last rays of the sunset.

TK’s soft mumbling sleep talk helps assure Carlos that TK is resting naturally now, healing. Restless kicks alert Carlos to TK’s changing sleep state and he hurries over to the bed. 

Carlos doesn’t expect the immediate grip of TK’s hand on his wrist and the pleading look in his eyes. 

“Hey.” Carlos soothes, reaching up to brush an errant strand of hair off TK’s forehead. 

TK coughs and Carlos’ reach for the cup of water next to the bed, is stalled by TK tightening his grip and pulling with what little effort he can manage. 

Clearing his throat, TK attempts to speak and Carlos has to lean down to catch the scratchy, low-pitched words. 

“Can you just …. stay here? And hold me … please?

Not wanting to deny TK anything. He carefully climbs onto the bed, pulling TK in close. Shaky breaths accompany a quiet “missed you.” being pressed into Carlos’ neck. 

Carlos settles deeper, drifting off to sleep holding his whole world in his arms.

Yo I am having REVELATIONS. I don’t know which of my symbolism posts I should add this to, so I’m just going to make a new post for it.

I was totally on to something on Trailer Day when I got fixated on the red tones. So, here is a further (and ongoing) examination of the use of the color red, just based, so far, on what we’ve seen in the trailer + stills. Sorry if the quality isn’t great, I took screenshots from the trailer and was moving too quickly on this to adjust them.

It’s clearly an important color for this season- literally the first shot of the trailer is of the queen’s red throne. The color red obviously has a strong symbolic connection to love and attraction. It’s being used in many places, across storylines, but for now, I’m going to focus mainly on Colin and Pen.

From what we can gather of the timeline, the use of red around Colin starts off by being small, contained, in front of him, and variations of the red tone rather than true red. Gloves, a ring, a quill, a hair piece.

In this shot, it’s almost behind him, but he’s moving, and I suspect that once he stops, it won’t be behind him anymore.

Pink and red-orange tones are behind him when he’s showing attraction to some other women.

When Pen is in frame with him, it’s behind her. It’s broader, less contained. The leaves of a tree, an awning, a rug.

In a pink tent, they have a moment of mutual attraction.

Sorry, but I have to throw Debling in here because he is wearing it- not true red though!

But when he tells Pen that she’s looking especially beautiful, a truer red is behind him.

Once Colin has The Dream, it’s behind him. Not true red right away, it starts with a cherrywood headboard.

Once we get to the point where I can say with 100% certainty that the boy is in LOVE, it’s a bright red wall.

And then, of course, there’s the 3x04 promo still, which many believe directly precedes The Carriage.

Nancy hugs him, and he doesn’t understand. She rambles on, saying words he tries to focus on, but he doesn’t understand. A stranger, a mother of a patient, a young boy, in the hospital, comes over. She starts speaking, and he doesn’t understand, but she continues, she leaves, and his whole world comes tumbling down.

He almost wishes he didn’t understand again.

He stands outside the glass doors, staring through fingerprints and dust at the man he thought was the love of his life. And he is, Carlos guesses. TK is the love of his life, even if Carlos isn’t the love of his. But right now, only machines are keeping him alive. They beep, loud even through the glass doors, and Carlos understands as much as he doesn’t.

I actually recently forced my best friend to watch the show so she’d understand what I was ranting about and when she got to The Thing she pissed herself laughing cos she thought it was so stupid 😭 I was like “it’s okay you can laugh, it’s bad” but man I WISH I could laugh at it instead of getting mightily pissed off lol. I can laugh at the Killing Eve finale at least cos I was never that invested in that show anyway but jeez 😂 That was only last year, you’d think they’d have learned!!! My favourite part of the reaction to that was everyone getting angry about Lexa all over again. That was fun

I think 3x04 is my favourite of the season too so I am looking forward to watching it but ughhh it just reminds me that we had something so beautiful within our grasp and it was snatched away from us so cruelly in such a stupid manner 🙃🔫 But that is a rant saved for when we actually get there ❤️

Season 3 Rewatch Drabbles--3x04 Nasty Habits

Summary:  A series of 100-500 word drabbles to accompany my    rewatch of season 3 of Once Upon a Time.  There will be a drabble–either a deleted scene, a “fix it” fic or a character musing for each episode of the season.  Focus will be on Emma, Henry, the Charmings and Killian–with an emphasis on Captain Swan’s epic love story.

Note:  I know it’s been….forever…since I updated.  Christmas projects and other real life things got in the way.  I’m hoping to get caught up to 3x7, where the rewatch group is currently, as soon as possible, so with any luck, I’ll be able to post daily (or at least every other day) until that happens!

Emma stormed away praying that this time her parents didn’t follow.  They tried but sometimes their love was almost…suffocating.

Particularly in this instance.

They were the perfect, ideal true love couple.  Yes, they’d faced their obstacles, but they had been obstacles from the outside, forces trying to drive them apart.  Their love and trust in each other had never faltered.

And that was great.  Really.  Emma was happy for them, but some people weren’t that lucky.

Waves of pain, guilt and insecurity washed over her as she thought about Neal.  He’d folded at the first sign of conflict, preferring to run, to send her to jail, rather than fight for their love.  Suddenly she was back there, sitting on her prison cot as the truth of it all crashed down around her.  She wasn’t enough.  She wasn’t worth fighting for.

And when she was later forced to give up her son….it was a wonder she even survived the agony of it.

She’d worked hard to put him, put the whole situation, from her mind, to learn from her mistakes and come back stronger and wiser.  She’d built a fortress around her heart.

But then Henry had found her and brought her home, and for a short time things had been, if not good, as close to good as she’d gotten in a long time.

It all crashed down on her again when she found Neal in New York and came to realize just how entwined her story and Neal’s had been, just how deep his betrayal had been.

The moment she’d seen him, all the pain, all the misplaced hope, all the love of an unloved teenager for the one person who’d briefly treated her like she was worth a damn came rushing back and it was too much. Way too much.

Emma wished she had Hook’s flask.  She needed the burning, numbing power of his rum to dull this ache.

For the briefest glimmer of time, Emma had thought maybe there could be a way to make peace with the past, to forgive Neal and move forward, and then he’d left her again.  He’d died, and yes, she’d felt grief, but, God help her, she’d also felt relief.  Relief that it was over.  That he couldn’t disrupt her life again.

And then Henry had been taken from her, and she was once again alone.  She’d returned to Neverland, found Neal’s cave, found his map…and then discovered it was useless with him dead.

Damn him!  Damn Neal, and Pan and Neverland and this whole situation!  She couldn’t take much more.  If they didn’t find Henry, if he was too far gone once they found him….

Emma took a deep breath, holding back the tears through sheer strength of will.  If she started to cry, she’d never stop.In the distance, she heard the murmur of her parents’ voices, Hook and Regina bickering in Bae’s cave, and a spark of renewed hope struck in her.  No matter how much she might feel it, she wasn’t alone.  Not anymore.  She had parents and friends and even the tentative cooperation of the Dark One.  There would be time to process all the emotions later.  For now, it was time to fight.  She would get her son back or die trying!

Sorry if you‘ve been asked this before, but since we know you‘re fav lmk characters, I was wondering what you‘re favorite duos and trios were?

And/or however many characters you wanna group together. Just in general, the character dynamics you find neat!

(My guess is that MK and Mei are somewhere on the top of the list- if not THE top)

One of my favorite things about lmk (of which there are many lol), is that you could throw two darts, and whatever two characters the darts land on are bound to have an interesting dynamic.

One of my favorite episodes is the Sandy and Huntsman episode (2x08), Tang and Macaque also have an intriguing conflict in 3x08, and Pigsy and Chang'e (3x07) have such a heartfelt shared passion that you can't help but enjoy their on screen time together.

I'm someone who wants a sort of Ne Zha and Yellowtusk "we reluctantly work together" arc, where even though Yellowtusk may have helped nearly bring the world to it's destruction, he ultimately helped save it, and he also happens to know a thing or too about keeping the Jade Emperor's power contained. I think it'd really fit in with lmk's "past mistakes vs making the right choices now" theme—in all honesty Yellowtusk has already paid his time with an eternity spent in the scroll—and now he can truly help make a better world. I think it'd be a neat way to keep him involved in the story, give Ne Zha someone to bounce off of (they both view power as sacred and a huge responsibility, unlike Wukong for example who is much more flippant with power), and would give some juicy drama ("You would betray your brothers?") between Peng and Yellowtusk later down the line.

Though anon you're 100% right, MK and Mei are at the top of my favorite dynamic list lol (They're whole motivation is to protect each other out of 100% platonic love. Obsessed with them). I'm also really partial for the MK, Mei, and Sandy trio that pops up here and there (1x03, 1x04, 3x04, 3x06). Traffic light trio is a treat, and the sunburst duo has my heart forever and always (I love seeing the way MK and Wukong's relationship has developed over the course of the show, both for the better and worse). Pigsy and Tang are always a delight (thank you 1x04, 2x03, 2x04, 3x05, 4x04, and specifically the line "Sometimes it's that little bit of char that makes for a more flavorful meat! Even if it is a bit tangy."), they're definitely at the top of my list. Obviously I like shadowpeach, and shadowpeach + MK (ooooo the monkeys are such delicious/tragic foils oooo), and I think Mei and Wukong have a really interesting dynamic (Wukong seeing Ao Lie in Mei, Mei viewing Wukong as someone who has hurt MK). Wukong and Azure's dynamic is also super interesting (Azure with his unrequited crush and heartbreak), so is LBD and MK's (could talk forever about these two), however I'll cut this off here since I could probably go on for a long while about this specific topic.

What of it? #lmk writers are fucking masters at giving the most characterization with the least amount of screen time #And I'd say they mainly do that through parallels/foils/themes but I'm no expert #You can just usually put together a lot of who a character is and their arc based off how they interact with what's been established #I have a long rant about Pigsy's arc rattling around in my brain that I want to write out at some point #I will say this though: Pigsy being a man of tradition/family (2x04 - 3x07) and then giving him qualms with his family in s4 is. *muah* #Like. The thing that get's him to soften up about Zhu Bajie is learning he worked hard to become someone better #Like DO NOT TOUCH ME.
