You know what I love. Is that in most fics written after the s2 finale but before s3 came out, whenever Kendall and Stewy meet again it’s always Stewy being super pissed off at him for not telling him beforehand and making a total surprise move and Kendall being apologetic and kind of closed off and then in the actual show Stewy sends him a wooden horse and then when Kendall goes to apologize for not clueing him in, goes well it’s fine I got a ticket to the greatest freak show on earth :))) <3 while they both grin at each other
#don’t get me wrong I think those fics are great#how could anyone predict what Jesse Armstrong would come up with here#but it’s so funny that the fic versions are honestly often more brutal towards each other than the actual show versions#and I see this trend in general with the two of them not just with post s2 fics#that they’re always sniping at each other but honestly they really aren’t lmao. stewy is just 100% honest all the time which sometimes#includes saying stuff like ‘and bro people don’t like you’ or ‘i am spiritually and emotionally and ethically behind whoever wins’ but like#at the end of the day he’s never mean about it quite the opposite I think#like not to be. SWK being so flawed is like one of LMK's strongest bits. I feel like a different show would just have him be infallible or have him be like a twist villain or irredeemable or something. But he's neither of those, he's just incredibly flawed. It's also interesting that even though Mei and Pigsy are critical of him, they're still shown to care about him.
All in all, hes a more complicated character than people give him credit for :/
I 100% agree!
Honestly, if Sun Wukong wasn't flawed I'd find him a bit boring. You remove his flaws and you remove the meat of his character. Even all the way back in season 1 you get the feeling he's withholding information and concealing his past ("Show me the real Sun Wukong! The old you would have leveled this whole mountain range to stop me!"), and that only becomes more and more prevalent as the show goes on.
Wukong is first introduced as a hero, as the King who defended the world from DBK. Next he's introduced as a mentor, planning to make MK his successor (which I think is pretty debatable at this point, as I've said I personally think he just needed an excuse to train MK).
Slowly we learn SWK is pretty terrible at both of those things. He's not the hero or mentor anyone thought he would be—he's not even the mentor he thought he would be:
Macaque: “Haha, you saw a story about a hero who got handed everything, who didn’t have to work for anything, and you thought you were the other guy? The second the hero got real power, he couldn’t care less about his friends.” [ - ] "You know, I meant what I said—you really are a good kid. A good kid, with a really terrible teacher." (2x07 Shadow Play)

s1 of Monkie Kid, as well as the Revenge of the Spider Queen special, establish a baseline. We meet Wukong as we're meant to know him—the legendary yet cheeky hero. Now that he's retired, Monkey King is training the next generation to protect the world and be the heroes in his place.
Right?
Well, just like our perception of Wukong, our perception of the role of the hero slowly degrades as well:
Lady Bone Demon: “Heroes? Please, you’re mere agents of chaos, the very thing I aspire to eradicate in this new world. No more destruction, no more disorder, I WILL HAVE PERFECTION.” (3x12 The Corrupted King)

Heroes aren't people fighting for the side of good, or even for what they think is right—they're agents of chaos. Destructive. "All doomed to play a role in tearing this world apart." Heroes are introduced as one thing, and then slowly revealed to be another.
Heroes, just like Wukong and anyone else, are flawed. They still make wrong choices. They still hurt people. Of course Wukong isn't a twist villain or irredeemable, because ultimately he IS a hero with plenty of the positive traits that come with that. But heroes are also flawed, and this is something I think is at the core of Lego Monkie Kid.
You can love someone, and that someone can do plenty of good, but that doesn't mean they're not broken, or that they aren't capable of causing suffering. This isn't something that only applies to Wukong either—pick any character and I'm sure you could apply this to them.
Now, all this to say that Wukong's two fatal flaws are his lack of communication and his self-sacrificial tendencies. Like Azure Lion says—he has a habit of keeping people at arms length, and more often than not doing that to protect them. These tendencies lead to his downfall.
So! Let's make some lists of where we see these flaws in the show.
Wukong's lack of Communication:
"Look, I'm going to come clean—um, I've been kind of watching you."
Leaving MK and lying to him during s2 (this includes lying about both going on vacation AND that LBD had returned)
Keeping his plan to stop LBD a secret during s3
"Where I got my staff!" "Got or took, right? You took it?"
Not telling the gang about the 4th ring
Other lies I'm sure have yet to be revealed (such as the truth about MK's origins, if that's the direction the plot's going)
Him and Macaque's past
Wukong's Self-sacrificial tendencies:
Leaving during s2 to find a way to stop LBD on his own
"What!? You're not going I'm going!" "Yeah so, here's the problem, you guys have this thing called mortality, so-"
Gravely injuring himself to get the samadhi fire Map
Blocking the brunt of the samadhi fire to protect MK in 3x10
Originally planning to put the Samadhi Fire in himself
Going off to fight the Lady Bone Demon alone
Protecting MK from the curse in 4x01
(and this post here that travels into theory territory)
Now, most, if not all, of these decisions lead to something bad happening. It's very in line with MK's words in 4x08:
MK: It doesn’t matter if I want to help people or not! Everything I do just- it just makes things worse!”
Wukong, even if he has a very questionable way of going about it, is truly motivated by protecting the people he cares about. However, these choices also hurt those same people. Not to reference samadhi fire Mei another time, but this is EXACTLY what she points out:
Mei: "We trusted you! All of us! How could you lead us into the fight without a real plan? Time and time again I've watched you put MK in danger leaving him to figure out EVERYTHING on his own. Don't you realize you're hurting the people who care about you the most?" (3x10 The Samadhi Fire)
But that's the point, isn't it? Even with all these flaws and after all these mistakes, Wukong still tries (he's very much like Mei in that regard):
Sun Wukong: “Point is, mistakes happen, but so long as you leave the world in better shape than you found it, then it’s all good. Right?” (4x01 Familiar Tales)

This is who Wukong is. He's not a hero or a mentor, but he's someone who cares (and maybe that's what a hero is). That's the tragedy of his character, really. That's the tragedy of both him and MK. They're people doing the best with what they have, but still failing anyways.
"Nice hero speech bud, but I know better—deep in your hearts, you don't believe a word of that."

We are now entering a period wherein we adopt the culture of South Korean artists, especially their food, exercises, clothes, dramas, and music.
Have you ever wondered why K-pop idols and actors are so skinny?
K-idols and actors balance and are strict with their lifestyles, including their workouts and food intakes.
Who wouldn't like to be as skinny as them? Let's start to be fit before the year ends.
First, be determined to workout once or twice a week at your convenience for thirty minutes to one hour. There are a lot of workout exercises on YouTube right now; you just have to do them and make a choice on which exercise is best for you. For me, cardio workouts standing I usually do once a week. First year of pandemic, usually I do workouts every day. Yeah, I was satisfied. In two weeks, I did achieve abs and became skinnier. Some of us hit the gym to become fit, which is also good.
But let's see how K-pop idols and actors do their workouts. As they said, before you make your debut in a group, you must undergo a series of training sessions in proper exercise, diet, singing, dancing, etc. Let's focus on their workout.
4th Generation Le Sserafim workout routine: 100 jumping jacks, 4x25 burpees, 2x10 jump squats (holding ears), 1 song plank crawl, 2x10 plank up and down, 2x10 plank twist, and 75 crunches
Girls Generation leg workout routine: 15 thigh hovers, 20 squats, 10 side planks, 20 inner thigh lifts, 15 hip kicks, 15 high knees, 10 lunges, and 19 hip raises
Blackpink Jennie Kim does pilates exercise for one to two hours for five days in a week. This helps to be flexible, strengthen, and tone the body.
BTS’s Jungkook Workout Routine: Knowing Jk, he does boxing exercises in his Weverse Live, but he also does 20 squats, 20 pushups, 20 jump squats, 20 pike pushups, 10 planks, 20 mountain climbers, 15 burpees, 20 crunches, 20 leg raises, and 20 Superman’s exercises to achieve his amazing toned body.
Exercise has advantages; it helps our brains improve, helps us manage our weight, strengthens our bones and muscles, improves our daily activities, and has a low disease risk (don't abuse it too much because it may also have a great risk in our body).
Second is food. Who doesn't like food? Do you know kpop idols and actors are forbidden from eating condiments, sweets, fried chicken, tteokbokki, pastry, ice cream, noodles, hamburgers, and jokbal before they debut as artists because they need to have a slim or skinny figure? They undergo really strict diets.
In the Philippines, there are a lot of fast food chains and restaurants opening from time to time.
Salt is usually what we put in our food, but have you heard that if we intake too much salt, there is a bad risk to the body? Salt intake in excess can be associated with disease, weight gain, and much more, but for us Filipinos, we can't remove it from our foods. We are fond of eating noodles, junk foods, fast foods, and restaurants. I read a lot of articles about how some salty foods can cause swelling. Sweets can gain us weight, and articles show they tend to give us acne or pimples. As per my experience, I am very observant about it. Back when I was in high school, I loved eating sweets like chocolates, candies, and much more, which gave me acne on my face and on my back. In time, I stopped eating chocolate, any sweets, and milk too. It slowly disappears, but then again, consult a physician for more information. Meat is really delicious, but the fatty part is no good if eaten too much, especially if you are really on a diet. The breadings, sauces, and ingredients we put on them are sometimes bad for our health. chicken, preferably the breast part for those on a diet.
Let's see how K-pop artists eat.
For IU, apple, sweet potato, and protein shake for a day
Suzy Bae ate one chicken breast and a banana for breakfast and drank a glass of milk. For lunch, she ate brown rice and a small vegetable salad. She finished the day with two sweet potatoes.
Blackpink Jennie's low-sodium (salt) diet, detox juices, and salad with avocado
That’s why they could lose weight in a short period of time. Remember to drink water.
I'm not saying it is bad, but in moderation, did you know that home-cooked food is still the best for me because we can control it on our own? Eating vegetables and fruits can also help us in our diet, but it really depends on a person's lifestyle and diet. There are a lot of apps now that you could try to help us plan our meals and exercises. We just need the determination within ourselves.

What do you think about the moment in 2x10 in which Will tells Hannibal that he'd never felt as alive as he did when he murdered Randall Tier? I'm torn between thinking that Will was being honest, and thinking that he was just trying to manipulate Hannibal into confessing. You?
I'm guessing you're a one time watcher/new to the fandom? It's pretty normal to have that perspective when we watch it for the first time, without much contemplation.
He was 100% honest in everything. Hence why he almost ran away with him. Hugh also confirms that on the commentaries of Mizumono, he said for it to work, Will had to be honest.
But you'll get to a point of total clarity after some rewatches, it does get obvious after awhile, when we watch nuances and small details :)

do you know significant dates for community episodes like for example december 10th for comparative religion (idk does make sense)
yes I think I get what you mean.
so, actually, for seasons 1-3, I’m pretty sure the dates the episodes aired, for the most part, line up with when the episode is meant to take place within the community universe. it's convenient that american networks have a similar schedule to the american school year, so it makes the timeline of shows set at schools line up pretty well with dates in the real world. this is no longer true for seasons 4-6, as they were likely pushed to midseason (making the season start airing in january/february and still end around may, making it half as long). so, for example, the season 4 halloween episode aired on february 14th, 2013. the halloween episodes for seasons 1-3 all, obviously, aired very close to halloween.
I do have some specific examples that support this, if the simple fact of the school year and network schedule lining up isn’t enough. as you said, in 1x12 comparative religion, they mention multiple times that it is december 10th. that episode did, in fact, air on december 10th, 2009. same with 2x11 abed's uncontrollable christmas; they mention that it is december 9th, and the episode aired on december 9th, 2010.
all this yapping to say: for seasons 1-3, a lot of the episode air dates are likely compliant with the in-universe set date. although, I do doubt that they had specific dates in mind for every single episode. it's just not super relevant. but, if you really wanted an estimate, I would consult this list of community episodes, which includes the date each episode was aired.
but, to more directly answer your question, I'm going to try to compile a list of episode dates I'm 100% sure about.
1x12 comparative religion: december 10th, 2009
2x10 mixology certification: december 4th, 2010
2x11 abed's uncontrollable christmas: december 9th, 2010
4x05 cooperative escapism in familial relations: november 22nd, 2012
not as long as I would have hoped, but ofc it's entirely possible there's things I missed.
to dive deeper, here's a list of episode dates I’ve speculated:
1x05 advanced criminal law: october 15th, 2009 (in contemporary impressionists, abed says that he and troy made a deal: "october 15th, friends don't lie to each other." this parallels their story in 1x05, and the 5th episode of season 1 being in october makes sense logistically in the canon. this episode also aired on october 15th, so it lines up in that way too. this episode does span across multiple days, though, so october 15th would just be one of the days included in the ep)
2x04 basic rocket science: october 16th, 2010 (this episode aired on october 14th, 2010, which is a thursday. they mention in the episode that it's a saturday, and the 16th is the saturday closest to the air date)
2x19 critical film studies: march 24th, 2011 (this is the date this episode aired, and is the generally accepted date for abed's birthday)
3x07 studies in modern movement: november 12th, 2011 (the episode aired on november 10th, 2011, which is a thursday. again, the mention in the episode that it is a saturday, and the 12th is the saturday closest to the air date)
3x10 regional holiday music: december 8th, 2011 (following the trend of the two previous christmas episodes, which took place on the last day of classes. again, this episode spans multiple days, so december 8th is theoretically the date of the episode's final scene)
5x11 g.i. jeff: november 20th, 2013 (this one is a little rougher. jeff's actual date of birth is a whole other can of worms, but it was originally listed as the same as joel mchale's, which is november 20th. a lot of people accept this as jeff's birthday. although, it is a little hard to justify for me, for one specific reason. if season 5 is supposed to span across an entire school year, and there's only 13 episodes, episode 11 should logically be sometime in the spring, not in november. so, either there is a months-long gap between episode 11 and episodes 12 & 13 (in order to make the finale line up with the end of the school year), or season 5 is only supposed to cover the first semester of the 2013-2014 school year. but, again, that is kind of weird, giving that all the other seasons cover the entire school year. the air date, however, is april 3rd, 2014. so. I could go on and on about theories on backtracking in the writers' room and whatever else, and I will if you want me too, but for now I think I've written enough. believe what you want about this one)
holiday episodes are kind of a whole other issue. you have to take the date of the actual holiday, the air date of the episode, and logically how the celebration would interfere with an actual school day, and try to extrapolate a canonical episode date. (ik I put the season 3 christmas episode in the list above, but I'm more sure about that one than any of the episodes I’m about to list) idk if you even want me to do this, so I’ll try to make it quick.
1x07 introduction to statistics: aired on thursday 10/29/2009, halloween was saturday 10/31/09. ep is centered around an after-school party, so I’d guess it's actually set on friday 10/30/09.
1x16 communication studies: aired on thursday 2/11/2010, valentine's day was sunday 2/14/2010. I’m pretty sure the dance is on a school day, so I’d guess it's actually set on friday 2/12/2010.
2x06 epidemiology: aired on thursday 10/28/2010, halloween was sunday 10/31/2010. I'd guess this dance was on either friday or saturday, although I have no clue which one. so, I'd guess either 10/29/2010 or 10/30/2010.
2x15 early 21st century romanticism: aired on thursday 2/10/2011, valentine's day was monday 2/14/2011. the episode description says it's set actually on valentine's day. I tried looking at liverpool v. man u soccer games, but the only one in the spring of 2011 is on march 6th, which is the opposite of helpful. all I know is it's set on a school day. maybe they actually did have a dance on a monday, or maybe it was the friday before (2/11/2011). who knows.
3x05 horror fiction in seven spooky steps: aired on thursday 10/27/2011, halloween was on monday 10/31/2011. based on vibes alone I think this one is set on a saturday, but idk. so, I’m guessing saturday 10/29/2011.
I'm not going to list the halloween and christmas episodes from season 4, because the season 4 timeline is so irrevocably fucked up. (it's the first time the show was pushed to mid-season, so the air dates don't match up with the canonical ones whatsoever, jeff "graduates a semester early," but they celebrate christmas and go into the spring semester while he's still attending school, etc etc etc). in conclusion, I wouldn't recommend trying to make any sense out of any season 4 canonical dates. whatever.
seasons 5 and 6 don't ever really mention specific dates (as far as I remember), and, like I mentioned earlier, they are half-length seasons, so the air dates don't really match up with the school years anymore, so it's all kind of up in the air. you could potentially try to go in and analyze things further, but I'm not going to do that right now. I could do it in the future if someone really wants me to, or if you guys think it's worth doing? but in this moment I don't think it's worth it. I’ve already written WAY too much to answer a simple question LMAO. anyway.
I do want to reiterate that there Probably aren't specific canonical dates in mind for most of these episodes. but yk. it's fun to speculate I suppose. I hope this was somewhat helpful, and I am once again opening the floor to anyone who has anything I missed 💯💯💯

Don't know what it is you can & can't answer, so no worries if this goes ignored. What are your personal feelings on what goes through JJ's mind by the time 3x01 comes around? Being that 2x10 had some big Jiara moments of note, has JJ spent time overanalyzing these interactions/ is he completely aware of his feelings now or is he pretty oblivious (the Jiara interaction like nothing's changed, tho I know we as viewers will obviously pick up on it)? We know he knows subconsciously, but as you said there's a difference in KNOWING & him being in denial about his feelings is slightly different from not knowing that you feel them/ doing things completely as a reflex.
i'm sorry i left you waiting on this one, but this felt like it needed a LONGER answer ...so here it is.
i think JJ is completely, 100% aware of his feelings. to be fair, i think he mostly was before, but at this point -- he knows. doesn't mean he knows anything other than that (what to do about it, if he should do something, if kie feels exactly the same, if he's worthy), but he knows. time on a deserted island will give you something, it's a chance to reflect -- even if you might not want it!
and let's just talk about that scene that was released, the one with "truth or dare" -- his face on that says all. he wants kie to say that she wants to stay on the island with them, but mostly with him. and he isn't EVEN PRETENDING. there's so much softness to his whole demeanor, so much hope in his face. that isn't a man who doesn't know how he feels, it's a man hoping he can keep what he found on the island forever, and a man who's afraid of what he's gonna lose when real life comes knocking.

Summary:  A series of 100-500 word drabbles to accompany my   rewatch of season 2 of Once Upon a Time as an attempt to finally jump   start the muse again.  There will be a drabble–either a deleted scene, a   “fix it” fic or a character musing for each episode of the season.    Focus will be on Emma, Henry, the Charmings and Killian–with an   emphasis on the very beginnings of Captain Swan’s epic love story, as   soon as a certain dashing pirate makes his appearance.

Note:  I never expected to write a fic from Pongo’s POV, but here we are!
He could tell from the moment she walked into his human’s office that something was off.
This woman who confidently walked into Archie’s office looked like the mayor, but Pongo knew differently.  He knew the mayor’s scent.  This one was similar—but it wasn’t the same. It was foreign.  Something he’d never smelled before.
Life in Storybrooke had always been predictable, routine, and Pongo loved routine.  Every morning just as the sun peaked through the curtains, he woke and then fulfilled his first task—waking the human.  Archie liked to grumble about Pongo waking him up with a lick to the face, but then Archie would do that thing that humans did with their faces where their lips go up.  Pongo thought it was called a smile.  All he knew is that humans did it when they were pleased with him and he was being a very good boy.
Later, Archie would feed him, and then they’d take their morning walk, greeting all their neighbors. Then it was off to work.  While his master talked to other people and helped them to feel better, Pongo sat by in his bed, ready at a moment’s notice to provide assistance if he was needed.
Every day was the same. Every scent was the same—at least until that woman, Emma, arrived.  She had a different scent, but Pongo liked her.  She gave him pets and sometimes even treats.
And Henry loved her. If ever Pongo was to adopt a little boy, it would be Henry.  Pongo knew he’d been lonely, and he’d hoped he would someday find someone to love.  This Emma was good for his favorite little boy, and that made Emma good in Pongo’s book.
But this new woman who’d just walked in—the one who wore the mayor’s face—she wasn’t a good new scent like Emma.  She was a very, very bad scent.
Pongo felt his hackles rise and he sat tall, growling menacingly as she walked in the door.  Archie chided him for his reaction, but Archie didn’t know, couldn’t smell who this was.  Humans had the worst noses!
It didn’t take long for Pongo’s instincts to be proven right.  No sooner had the imposter walked in the door than she raised her hand, putting Archie in a choke hold.   Pongo sprang to his feet, barking for all he was worth, but it was all over too soon for him to save his person.  One moment the woman wearing the mayor’s face was holding him, and then they both disappeared in a puff of smoke, leaving the lifeless body of a man behind.
This man looked like Archie, but it wasn’t him.  Pongo knew it wasn’t him.
Something was very, very wrong here, and Pongo knew he needed help.  Emma would help him!  Emma and Henry, but how would he tell them what had happened?
Then it clicked. Ruby.  She was different.  She understood him.  He had to find her; there was no time to lose!

erica and m'benga found out about christine getting accepted with her, so i guess erica just told sam when they were in bar and erica and/or sam spontaneously decided to pour drinks to congratulate her.
and i guess christine didn't tell spock because she couldn't bring herself to do it yet and the events of 2x08 really caused her war trauma to resurface and double down on "not committing".
that being said, i 100% agree that 2x08 christine was written in an incredibly out of character way and the whole thing was written poorly. fingers crossed that 2x10 will redeem the writing.
as @nurcechapel pointed out to me this morning, this episode was written by the same person who wrote 2.02 which literally gave christine one line and refused to use her. so i'm thinking this writer may simply not be that much into christine / dislike her.
hmmm, as for the sam thing?? idk?? it feels like they all went down there to celebrate her specifically. as sam said (and honestly, cutest boy in the world and my fav kirk brother) to our brilliant friend christine.
it is not impossible though.
but hmmm, about christine not telling spock cause of her fears of commitment, i feel like those aren't as strong as her desire to avoid hurting people, which has always been something so palpable and clear about her character, that i'm not sure she wouldn't like... find another way to break up with him if that was the case. instead, she made it seem like he wasn't good enough, worthy of consideration of her news.
we know christine and spock are stuck on a craft on episode 10 together. so, we know they are going to have to talk whether they want to or not. i'm hoping they'll get back together, but i'm doubtful. i'm hoping they will at least clear the air and christine will get the chance to explain herself.
henry alonso is writing the episode and he's written most of the overly spapel episodes so far this season (2.01, 2.05) and he also wrote spock amok... so like, this is someone who does enjoy writing their dynamic so i have faith he'll at least make this breakup coherent and in a way that's respectful to the characters.
