Yes! Risa's pretty social, so she did make friends every time she came to America. It was a little challenging bc of the language barrier at times but it also helped her improve her English. As for crushes, she did have some and had some flings but nothing too serious. She's kept in touch with some of her American friends, too.

Her parents are very proud of her having this gift, which is why they were supportive of her being apart of an idol group when she was in high school. And when they found out about the shady things going on, they did what they could to get her out of it. It took a lot of work but they made sure and continue to make sure she's in good hands they can truly trust now.

Ooh her ideal date would be mini golf, arcade, and go-kart racing! Fun fact: in the arcade she goes straight for Dance Dance Revolution good luck to whoever dares challenge her

1. playlists. if there’s one thing i’ll do, it’s make a playlist. i’m shamelessly plugging my spotify bc it’s my happy place

2. st tumblr. i haven’t been involved in fandom like this since i was 16. it’s nice. don’t get me wrong, i didn’t miss the internet miscommunication or misinterpretation bullshit. but y’all? y’all get it. you guys make it fun to be back :)

3. driving. i got my license this summer. i don’t get to drive alone often bc my mom doesn’t trust me w her car (i’m not insured), but joyrides to the coffee shop and back are nice. blasting music, windows down. i’m living a cliche and i’m getting it.

4. parties. god. i didn’t have much of a social life in hs and i started college in the middle of the pandemic. this has been the first summer i’m home and MISSING my social life. i miss my friendssss and having fun and staying out late. i have a weekly board game meet up i go to every thursday that ends at 11pm but sometimes we go to a pizza place after and hang out til 2am. god. i’m glad to be going back to college in a week.

5. my job/major/career/life. i don’t know how to say it in a way that doesn’t feel amateur, but i’m a screenwriter. i’m gonna tell stories for the rest of my life. i’m at the beginning of it. i’m wrapping up my first internship and now it’s not just an abstract idea. im in it. i just can’t wait to keep going :)

Answering all of them for all 3 ships is a lot, so I'll pick and choose:

2) Considering the time period the story took place in, thinking about love letters between Sukeroku and Kiku is interesting. I think Kiku would keep the yearning in his letters to a minimum while Sukeroku would be more honest and romantic. 10) I think Adachi and Kurosawa would watch anime together since they canonically bonded over that one manga they both read. I don't think Adachi would watch anything he'd feel the need to hide, but I bet Kurosawa has some weird or embarrassing tastes lol 11) This is kind of a weird one to answer because the answer is shown in the canon, but if you didn't watch the show, Kotetsu and Barnaby couldn't stand each other's guts at first. Kotetsu wanted to get a long with Barnaby but he wasn't having it. 12) Oooh for their anniversary, Kotetsu and Barnaby would probably do something simple at home, maybe even spend it with Kaede together as a family. Once in a while I could see Kotetsu wanting to do something special, like take a day trip somewhere nice. 15) I think Kiku would change the fact that Sukeroku feels the need to run away from his problems and responsibilities. And for Sukeroku, I genuinely don't think he'd change anything about Kiku. He loved him the way he is from jump.

i got my isbn today for the book. 8 months to go. my mom and i were talking about what the next steps are. i was eating trail mix, standing on one foot, phone tucked into my ear.

my mother made the sound at the back of her throat that i also make, the one that means i've got an idea. "you should figure out some kind of reward for presale amounts. maybe you give out poems or a mug or a signed book or something. would your followers like that?" my mother is sweet, and kind, and i have no idea how to explain on this website you can buy someone crabs.

i put more m&ms down the hatch. i had to speak through peanuts and almonds. "if it passes 25 thousand i will print the book out in its entirety and eat it live on camera."

"oh god. no, you don't have to do that." she was anguished. "just tell them that you'd love them to read it, and that they've inspired you to write. you got started on that site, and they helped you keep going. raquel, you love these people. the community? you talk all the time about the other writers and artists and whatever else. tell them that you're hoping for their support, they'll come through."

Sobbing uncontrollably reading through a dissertation about the college experience of students with ADHD. It is like reading a report about my life that just says over and over "My experiences are real. My hardships are real. I am not lazy, I am not dumb. My struggles were not my fault, and they were not a moral failing. The failure was with the system, not with me."

Here's a line that got me in particular:

"Hotez et al.(2022) compared the health, academic, and non-academic capacities of a nationally representative sample of U.S. first-year college students with ADHD and without ADHD. Students with ADHD self-reported lower academic aspirations and more feelings of depression and overwhelm, ranking themselves lower in their general emotional health. The fact that students with ADHD scored in the highest 10th percentile for many non-academic traits, such as artistic ability, computer skills, creativity, public speaking, social confidence, self-understanding and understanding of others, compassion, and risk-tasking, suggests that this population has strengths that are frequently underappreciated in academia."

(the paper is a thesis called "Understanding the Collegiate Experience for Students With ADHD" by Gia Long, 2022)
