Punk History Resources: Vol 2
This is a compilation of resources found and recommended by various alternative bloggers, each of whom are credited for their contributions. This started because I was getting SO MANY asks about resources such as videos, books, and websites to use to learn about punk history. Admittedly, my own list wasn't that long, so I thought it was best to reach out to some others and share their knowledge with everyone. Now, I'm hoping to make this an annual occurrence, where we all share our knowledge with each other. So thank you again to everyone who helped out with this!!

Thank you, David Rothkopf
Spot the pattern:
2020: Biden can't win. (Biden wins.)
2022: Biden to be slammed in midterms. (Dems do great.)
Off-year elections: Biden in peril. (Dems win even in many red states.)
2021-2023: Biden can't get past GOP in Congress. (Biden achieves more legislative wins than any Dem in 60 years.)
2020-2024: Biden too old. (Biden more successful at presidenting than every single younger predecessor since WWII. Which is all of them.)
If you're stuck, let me know and I'll help you with the math.
Let me add one more factor to this analysis, Biden's likely opponent has never won a popular vote, achieved nothing as president, was impeached twice, has been indicted on 91 felony counts, is planning to destroy democracy and elevate our enemies, is a rapist, a racist and criminally incompetent...and, by any objective analysis is the worst president in US history. Also, he's old, mentally unstable, fat, and as close to Satan as you will ever get in human form. So, you know, if you can do the advanced math, factor that in too.

Heyy, how are you?? i hope you're great today!
So, I have a question, which idk if it is in your areaof study, but I'm pretty sure it is, but I've read somewhere sometime ago, that "homosexuality was decriminalised in France during the French Revolution" so, does this checks out? is it like, true and stuff? 'cause I do think that it sounds a little bit too good to be true, not to mention that also it could've been just a modern interpretation of their words, different of the way they meant it back then.
Thank you for your answer =)
It is true. There were no sodomy laws in the Penal Code of 1791. Before this sodomy had been illegal under French law. A 1780's legal book defines sodomy as "the crime of any man with a man, of any woman with a woman; even of a man with a woman, when, by unimaginable debauchery, they do not use the ordinary path of procreation." (Michael David Sibalis, The Regulation of Male Homosexuality in Revolutionary and Napoleonic France, 1789-1815, p81) The traditional punishment for sodomy under French law was burning at the stake. However sodomy was infrequently persecuted in 18th century France. Sibalis explains:
Noble and well-to-do sodomites were generally released with a warning; the rest were usually detained for no more than a few weeks. The magistrates rarely bothered to prosecute arrested sodomites in the courts. (p81)
The last men executed for sodomy in France were Bruno Lenoir and Jean Diot who had been caught having sex on the rue Montorgueil. They were strangled and burnt at the stake on the 6th of July, 1750. A contemporary, Edmond Barbier, wrote in his journal that the “execution was carried out in order to make an example,” because “it is said that this crime is becoming very common”. He adds that “because these two workers had no relations with persons of distinction, either at court or of the city, and because they apparently incriminated no one else, this example was made without any consequences.” (Sibalis p81)
Legislators never provided an explanation as to why they chose to omit sodomy form the the Penal Code of 1791 however Le Pelletier de Saint-Fargeau commented that it outlawed only “true crimes” and not “those phony offenses created by superstition, feudalism, the tax system, and despotism.” (Sibalis p82)
The Penal Code of 1791 covered felonies, while the Code of Municipal Police and Correctional Police, commonly known as the Law of 19-22 July 1791 covered misdemeanours. While the only sex crime listed in the Penal Code of 1791 was rape, the Law of 19-22 July 1791 dealt with “public indecency”, Chapter II, Article 8 declared:
Those accused of having committed a gross public indecency, by a public offense against the decency of women, by unseemly actions, by displaying or selling obscene images, of having encouraged debauchery, or having corrupted young people of either sex, will be immediately arrested.
The punishment for such an offence was a fine of 50 to 100 livres and a prison term of no more than six months, however those who “encouraged debauchery” or “corrupted” young people were liable for a prison term of one year. (Sibalis p83)
It seems that the punishments handed out for crimes of “gross public indecency” were similar for both heterosexual and homosexual couples. For example in 1803 two men were sentenced to one year in prison for “having committed a public offense against decency, by mutually corrupting each other on a public road.” The same sentence was given in 1813 to a man and woman found “copulating one night in a Parisian street.” (Sibalis p84)
However while sodomy may have been legal in France it was certainly not socially acceptable and people may have been more likely to report instances of homosexual “public indecency”. In the evening on the 25th of March 1792, volunteers serving in a battalion stationed at the Tuileries Palace, “knowing that every day there are men in the Tuileries [gardens] who indulge with each other in a vile debauchery” decided to take a walk in the gardens to “try and catch some of these individuals in the act.” They broke up a group of men having sex and captured Alexandre Coindé, a twenty-two-year-old domestic servant. (Sibalis p86)
Police of the 1790′s deplored the new laws complaining that they were “inadequate” and that “Moral depravation is extreme and today’s generation is in a state of great disorder, the unfortunate consequences of which are incalculable for the coming generation. Sodomite love and sapphic love . . . are making deplorable progress.” (Sibalis p86-7)
Despite sodomy being ostensibly legal police would still harass homosexual men. For instance, in 1804 police arrested domestic servants, 28-year-old Philippe-Jacques Bergerat and 35-year-old Henry Duhem. Police had been searching Bergerat’s apartment for stolen goods, when they found his correspondence with Duhem “from which one sees that these two individuals engage together in Pederasty, and make the most revolting protestations of what they call their mutual love.” The prefect of police declared that “their well-attested immorality makes it necessary to sequester them for some time, and even to seperate them, so as to increase their punishment.” They were imprisoned for seven weeks, then Bergerat was expelled to his hometown of Etampes and Duhem back to Belgium. (Sibalis p93)
Legal precedent was set in 1805 with the case of the pharmacist Louis Nicolas Millet. Millet belonged to a small tight-knit community of sodomites in Chartres.
In the winter of 1805 army tailor Louis Fonteneau attended a carnival ball. He was shocked when a masked stranger stoked his butt. He soon learnt of a “clique” of sodomites of “more than 150 persons” in Chartres and resolved “to avenge humanity”. Fonteneau pretended to be a sodomite and soon made the acquaintance of Louis Nicolas Millet and Lubin Cassegrain who was the “usual companion of the pharmacist’s shameful pleasures.” Fonteneau invited Millet and Cassegrain to join him in an inn where he and several soldiers ambushed them, beat them, and chased them into the street, “calling them rogues, scoundrels and sodomites.” The magistrates initially wanted to charge Fonteneau and his accomplices with criminal assault, but upon learning the reason for the attack they instead decided to charge Millet and Cassegrain “with an offense against morals and corruption or attempted corruption of young people.”
This sparked controversy as surely the laws against public indecency did not extend to sex that occurred in private. Guillard, the imperial prosecutor for the department of the Eure-et-Loir, found it hard to believe that “our new laws have, as some people seem to think, remained silent on the kind of offense in question.” He suggested that “perhaps out of respect for public decency” the Constituent Assembly had not wanted to “set down the horrible name [of the crime] in black and white.” He insisted that Article 8 of the Law of 19-22 July 1791 implicitly proscribed sodomy because sodomy was against “good morals”.
Henri-Simon-Thibault Poullin de Flenis, the public prosecutor for Chartres, disagreed with Guillard. “Would you sincerely believe that the simple word sodomy cannot appear in the Penal Code with impunity, alongside rape and other similar words?” While Poullin believed sodomy fell outside of what was covered by the law he was in no way an ally, instead arguing that such cases should be quietly handled by the police:
Let us abandon these men to the avenging action of the police. . . . May their names perish and the memory of their crimes! Let us not, of course, burn the guilty, but let us follow the old custom . . . spare them, and burn their trial.
In other words Poullin believed that the public scandal of a sodomy trial was not worth it, but instead the police should be given sole discretion to do as they saw fit.
With Guillard and Poullin unable to come to an agreement the case was passed up all the way to Napoleon who on the 17th of July 1805 declared:
We are not in a country where the law should concern itself with these offenses. Nature has seen to it that they are not frequent. The scandal of legal proceedings would only tend to multiply them. It would be better to give the proceedings another direction.
In the end the police let Millet go and Cassegrain had already fled Charters. However Napoleon’s decision in the Millet case set the precedent for years to come. (Sibalis p89-92)
The minister of justice summarised the government’s position in 1806:
We should probably consider it to be a wise precaution that our modern legislation has not classed among the crimes and misdemeanours an unnatural vice, which the former laws punished with the ultimate penalty. The Code of Correctional Police [of 19-22 July 1791] contains only a vague provision against those who commit a public offense against morals, which, if need be can apply to individuals accused of sodomy and pederasty, when chance or malice reveal to the public certain scandalous circumstances of their private lives; but the investigation and prosecution of such deeds is probably no less dangerous and no less harmful to good morals than leaving the crime itself unpunished. However secret an investigation may be, it will not be long before the public knows about it. In a small town, it becomes the subject of all conversations; it arouses every passion. (Sibalis p92)
Napoleon and his minister of justice essentially gave the go ahead to police to handle cases of sodomy as they pleased, as long as they handled it quietly.
In looking at nine men involved in six cases Sibalis notes that the prefect of police in Paris “acting entirely on his own authority,” inflicted “remarkably similar penalties” in sodomy cases, not even distinguishing between those “whose behaviour was consensual and private and those who committed public indecencies or molested children.” The cases involved “two discreet lovers found out by chance, a teacher who sexually abused his pupils, a young out-of-work pederast, a settled couple whose unspecified activities shocked their neighbours, a recently arrived child molester, and two men who committed a public offence against decency.” Each case was punished with “several weeks in prison and/or expulsion from Paris.” (Sibalis p94)
The Penal Code of 1810 continued to omit sodomy and include laws against public indecency and the corruption of young people. (Article 330 and Article 334 respectively). In 1942 the age of consent for homosexual acts was raised to 21 and was not equalised again with heterosexual acts until 1982.
While the Penal Code of 1791 didn’t completely end the persecution of queer people in France, it is still somewhat remarkable that France expunged their sodomy laws in 1791. Especially when compared to many other countries. The UK didn’t legalise consensual sex between men over the age of 21 until 1967 (Sexual Offences Act 1967) and it wasn't until 2000 that age of consent was equalised (Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 2000). Australia legalised sodomy state by state the first being South Australia in 1975 (Criminal Law (Sexual Offences) Amendment Act 1975), the last Tasmania in 1997 (Toonen v. Australia). In the USA Illinois was the first decriminalise sodomy in 1961 (Criminal Code of 1961), but it was not until 2003 that the Supreme Court ruled sodomy laws unconstitutional (Lawrence v. Texas).

A man with 20 prior arrests was nabbed Monday for randomly shoving a man to the tracks in a Brooklyn subway station, police said.
Lamale McRae, 41, was charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment and harassment in the caught-on-camera Friday attack.
Police said they used facial recognition to track down McRae — who was once arrested for shooting a person — near his home in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
The attacker ran at David Martin, 32, as the victim stood on a Manhattan-bound L train platform at the Myrtle-Wyckoff station in Bushwick around 2:40 p.m. Friday, surveillance video released by the NYPD shows.
Martin was catapulted onto the tracks as a group of children watched in horror.
Good Samaritans pulled the injured man off the tracks before a train could come into contact with him.
Martin broke his collarbone in the attack, leaving him unable to work for at least six weeks at his serving job on the Upper East Side, his sister told the Daily News.
“In the blink of an eye, I was pushed with full force into the train tracks,” Martin told WABC-TV. “People were told that I had no injuries, but I am laying in bed with a broken collarbone and my face is so swollen. And mentally, I don’t know how to even get through this.”
Martin said he no longer feels safe on the train.
“Because I’m from New York... I’ve always felt safe taking the train, and now at 32 years old I no longer feel safe and that’s not fair and that’s not OK,” Martin told the station.
The victim’s family is trying to help him get through the ordeal, but relatives said it is hard on them, too.
“Thank God he’s alive,” said his mother, Audrey Martin. “The trauma is overwhelming — like, how can you wrap your head around a random person doing that, and why me?”
She said her son is suffering from extreme anxiety over the attack.
“He started smoking cigarettes again, which he’s not supposed to do,” she said. “I don’t know how he’s going to live like this. Every time I mention getting a lawyer or something, he gets freaked out. He’s very freaked out. He has a lot of anxiety.”
She said her son has been rewatching the video.
“It’s too traumatic,” she said. “It’s like, ‘Why me out of everyone on the platform?’ It’s a constant play-over of what happened.”
As of Oct. 16, subway crime this year is up 41%, according to NYPD stats. Felony assaults have increased 17%, with 431 attacks so far this year compared to 370 by the same time last year.
Of the 174 people arrested for felony assault in the transit system so far this year, 42.5% of them have histories of mental illness, sources said.
There have been 421 people arrested for major crimes like murder, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny and car theft. Out of those people taken into police custody, 38.7% have a history of mental illness.
The assaults include an attack on a 62-year-old man who was punched in the face at a Bronx subway station on Sunday. Cops said he may have been targeted as part of an ugly trend of “knockout game” attacks.

I wonder why Marjorie Taylor Green and Trump are such snowflakes. We can be hopeful that he will finally have to pay for some of his crimes but in reality, he may not get much from these charges. It will give him his favorite things: headlines. Fox and Friends keep saying that if this could happen to Trump, it could happen to any of us. I hope that if we break the law, we have to pay. Why is that so hard for them to accept? They must have a lot of lawbreakers at Fox! The 34 charges include creating shell companies and misdemeanors that became felonies. Scary Clown 45 or criminal defendant # 4913961R showed up over 2 hours late for court. Please let President Fraud pay for all his crimes!!  And don’t let anything happen to the Judge or his Fam since Don Jr. Is calling the out. The trial is here. It's the day that your family has been waiting for since this whole nightmare started. Unfortunately, Loki and Jade are both adamant that you remain on bed rest for the sake of the growing baby, and you ultimately end up losing the argument when you try to force them to let you come. Loki assures you that he'll be by her side for the both of you – supporting her the entire time.
In the back of your mind, you know the stress of hearing and seeing the evidence would be too much for you, and no one wants to see anything happen to your baby. Thankfully, Thor also appears to support his niece and brother – sitting on Jade's right as Loki sits on her left.
"I don't wanna see him," Jade mutters – looking down to the floor when Evan walks into the courtroom with his parents.
The teenager looks like he's injured – his leg has a slight limp, and his eye is swollen and dark. However, the seventeen-year-old has a smug smile on his face – his ego being stroked when he sees the television cameras on him. He takes his seat in between his lawyers, and they group together to discuss something quietly. Loki, Thor, and Jade try their hardest to hear what they're saying, but they're speaking far too quietly.
"I don't understand how he could have a defense," Thor says to you and Loki. "How can anyone deny that he did what he did?"
You shrug. "I don't know, Uncle Thor. I just want this to be over with."
The prosecution begins their opening statement by laying out all the facts of the case and making it clear what Evan Nichols is being tried for. His charges are as follows:
- 1st degree aggravated kidnapping
- 1st degree sexual assault (with forcible penetration)
- 1st degree sodomy
- Conspiracy to commit a kidnapping
- Conspiracy to commit a felony
- Felony stalking
- Harassment
- Attempted murder
- False imprisonment
- Assault with a deadly weapon
The first few witnesses to testify are the first responders who saved Jade from the small space she was being held in.
"Could you please state your name for the court and how you became involved in this case?" the prosecutor, Mr. Jeff Bards, began to question the officer.
"Brian David Wilson. I'm an NYPD SWAT officer who responded to the 911 call to 4892 E Graves Road," the witness explains.
"What happened upon arriving at the address?"
The officer took a deep breath before speaking. "We, the SWAT team, forced our way inside the house, and we started searching. I began to hear some muffled pleas for help, and when I followed them, I came across the fake wall in the home's basement. After removing the fake wall, I discovered that there was a small crawl-space type room."
"Can you confirm what the photo on the screen is?" Mr. Bards asks – a photo of the tiny, dark space where Jade had been held showing up on the screen.
"Yes, that is the crawl-space," he confirms
"And where was Ms. Lokisdottir located?"
"She was located in the back corner of the crawl space. She came out from hiding when she saw me, and I pulled her out of the space," officer Wilson stops to take a deep breath and gather his thoughts – trying to push his feeling aside. "Afterward, I carried her out of the house and to the ambulance that was waiting outside."
There's silence as the officer exits the witness stand – looking towards Jade and Loki as he goes to take his seat in the rows. The other officers testify – stating similar things to what the first one did. Then, everyone hears the fateful words.
"The prosecution calls Jade Pandora Lokisdottir to the stand, please."
Loki and Thor wrap their arms around the shaking sixteen-year-old – remind her that they're right there, and if she needs to, just look at them and they'll help her.
"You can do this, my love," Loki says softly. "Just pretend you're having a conversation."
"Okay," Jade nervously breathes out.
Thor hugs his niece close before she stands up. "You are so strong, Jade...just like your parents. You got this."
Jade exhales and nods – trying to walk up to the witness stand without falling. On the way, she refuses to look at the defense's side of the courtroom – disgusted as to how anyone could defend Evan.
Oh well, everyone has a right to a defense.
For a moment, Jade looks towards Evan. A smirk appears on her face when she sees his injuries – wondering who she needs to thank for the revenge. Before Jade turns her attention away, Evan takes the chance to blow a kiss towards her – excited to watch the goddess relive the nightmare he put her through.
"Could you please state your name for the court?" the prosecutor asks – looking directly at Jade.
"Um," Jade's voice is soft against the microphone. "Jade...Pandora Lokis-Lokisdottir."
"And can you tell the court how you came to know the defendant?"
Jade takes a deep breath and exhales – looking towards Loki and Thor for support. "Ye-yes. Um, we met at the mall when my parents took me shopping before the school year started. That weekend, we went out on a date, and then we started dating."
"Were you and the defendant ever sexual?
"Not...really," Jade answers. "Um, we only ever had oral sex, but that's it. I wa-wasn't comfortable with ever going any further than that."
"So, there was never any consensual sexual intercourse?"
"No."
"How long were you and the defendant dating?"
"Four months."
"During that time, did the defendant act inappropriately towards you in any sort of way?"
Jade exhales. "Yes. The last night we hung out together, he tried to force himself on me, but he ran away and drove off when I yelled for my dad."
"Ms. Lokisdottir, can you walks us through the day of September 3rd?"
Jade shakes her head and exhales nervously – looking towards Loki and Thor for their support. This is the first time she's ever spoken about what happened to her, and hopefully, it'll be the last.
"I was...at school, and Evan told me he wanted to speak with me privately, so I followed him out into the parking lot to smoke marijuana and talk in his car. When we got to his car, though, he locked the doors, and he took off from the parking lot." Jade swallows hard before continuing. "Um...I begged for him to stop and turn around – just let me go back to school, and I wouldn't tell anyone. But he didn't. He kept driving – pulling a knife from under his driver's seat and holding it to my throat. I tried to do as he said – hoping that he'd let me go, but he never calmed down. When we arrived at his house, no one was home. H-he led me into the basement and pulled a dresser away from the wall. It was a secret room behind the wall, and he made me...uh...he made me take all of my clothes off, so I was completely nude. He put a collar around my neck, and he connected it to a bolt in the floor so that I couldn't move much. He left for, I guess a couple hours, and he left me in the dark room. I remember how cold it was. It was freezing...especially since I didn't have any clothes. When he came back, he started to...do things."
"Could you explain what things were done to you by the defendant?"
Jade's eyes begin to tear up – her breathing becoming staggered as she thinks about how to word the horrific abuse she had been put through. The looks of support from Loki and Thor, however, give her a strength that she didn't know she had.
"There was...a metal bar," Jade begins quietly – biting her bottom lip to keep her thoughts going. "He had a long lighter with him, and he started to heat the bar up. He was laughing when he pressed the hot metal to my thigh – smiling at me while I screamed in pain as my skin started to burn. There's still a burn scar on my left thigh. When the bar finally cooled down, he threw it to the side. He grabbed me by the chain leash and forced me down to my knees. With his other hand, he...took his penis out of his pants and pried by mouth open. He grabbed the back of my head and used my mouth to get himself off. No matter how much I cried, and begged, and pleaded, he didn't stop. He found it entertaining. It turned him on." Jade looks out to see Loki and Thor becoming angrier by the second, but they're trying their best to remain calm for Jade's sake – knowing that they need to be her support. "After he was...finished, he uh, forced me to lie on the dirty floor. I tried to keep my legs closed, but he punched me in the face, which caused me to jump. Before I could try to close my legs again, Evan had them spread, and he began to...force his mouth...on me. I felt his teeth bite me, and I knew I was bleeding, but it seemed to turn him on even more. H-h-he reached over and grabbed the metal rod again, and h...I'm sorry...can I just...a moment?"
"Take your time," the prosecutor assures Jade – maintaining a professional composure.
Jade exhales deeply – closing her eyes and trying to gather her courage to continue.
"H-he began to use the metal rod to...assault me. He shoved it inside me – giving me cuts and bruises. I was bleeding, but he continued to thrust it in and out of me until he was satisfied. I thought he would finally be done, and I thought he'd take me home, but then I felt him begin to...insert himself...his...penis...into me. I tried to kick him off, but he held my legs as tight as he could to stop me from moving. It...I'm pretty sure he was trying to cause me pain. Finally, I stopped fighting – wanting him to just hurry up and let me go. I tried to stop crying because I didn't want him to be anymore satisfied with himself, but when I felt his fingers start to go into...the other side, I started fighting again. He pulled me up by the chain, and he forced me to look into his eyes. I remember he said that I was now his slut, and he was going to break me until I learned to love it. After a couple of minutes...he...ejaculated into me, which later resulted in a pregnancy. Evan was still wanting more though, so he turned me over and held my face to the floor as he entered my backside. Again, ignoring my cries and screams for him to stop. I lost track of how many times he did this...I think I may have blacked out or something, or maybe my brain made me forget in order to protect me from the memory, but the next thing I remember was being alone, redressed, and I heard the police officers calling out for me."
"Thank you, Ms. Lokisdottir," the prosecutor says with a proud smile.

Uncle: Chapter 1
Chapter 2
Series Masterlist | OCMasterlist | Author Masterlist
Status: In Progress
Pairing: Pike & Male!OCs, Christopher Pike x Fem!OC (Aalin)
Rating: Teen
Word Count: 1.4k
Summary: Long-term relationships bring new family into your life. And Chris is about to get a crash course in the trials and rewards of being an uncle. After his nephews get into trouble at school, Chris agrees to take charge of them for the weekend. First they visit Chris' hometown and then Enterprise.
ooooo
“Sir, the Braxton school called again, they insist it’s urgent. Should I page the Lieutenant?”
“No, don’t interrupt her, send it to my ready room. I’ll be there in five minutes.” Captain Pike answered his communication officer. When the viewscreen was activated, he was greeted by a tall, wiry, and anxious man.
“My apologies Captain, I believe there was a miscommunication with your officer. I need to contact …”
“She’s unavailable,” Pike interrupted. “Perhaps I can assist you.”
“It is … it is personal. And you must be quite busy with more important matters.”
Pike smiled graciously. “Not at the moment. And my officer did indicate your need was time sensitive.”
“Very well. Thank you. A swift response is imperative. I am the headmaster at this school. There has been an … an incident with two of our pupils. One of your officers, Aalin Matthews, is the next emergency contact for them both, after their parents.”
“Do they or does anyone require medical assistance?” Pike inquired.
“No, no. Again thank you. It is a family matter, a rather sensitive one, therefore I do need to speak directly with her. She is their aunt.”
“Her family is also my family.” Pike leaned against the table and waited.
“Oh, I was not aware of that; still, can she be reached?”
Pike crossed his arms in front of his chest. “I am here, and she is not, so how can I help?” He asked firmly, in his commander’s tone of voice, reiterating the headmaster’s one available choice.
“Legally, I cannot … not without permission from their parents, or at least proof you are related … but time is of the essence …” the headmaster stammered. “And your reputation proceeds you, I know your word can be trusted …”
“Shall we get on with it then?” Pike nudged impatiently.
The headmaster exhaled and looked relieved. “Will you come here? I’d rather explain this in person, and I have little time to avert serious and permanent consequences.”
“Send the coordinates,” Pike instructed.
Seated across the desk, Pike listened without interrupting as the headmaster explained. “… Due to the property damage and the unauthorized use of the dean’s ground car, I have little choice but to turn the matter over to the local authorities and it will then become part of their permanent records. Given the extent and financial cost of the damage, with auto left involved, the charge will be a felony rather than a misdemeanor.”
“I see. That is serious. And I remain unconvinced they should evade the consequences of their actions.”
“The situation is more nuanced than it appears,” the headmaster offered.
“Because you are unwilling to lose the patronage and financial support of an affluent and prominent family?” Pike demanded point blank, testing the man.
The educator’s reaction was immediate and without affect. His head jerked back as if insulted and his gazed bored into Pike, emphasizing his retort, “Of course not! Here discipline, and reward for that matter, is meted out regardless of background and means.”
You passed, Pike thought.
“Captain, you have young officers among your crew. When they make a spectacularly bad choice, do you always invoke the indicated legal punishment?”
Pike rubbed his chin. “Fair point, no I don’t. OK, tell me why they deserve leniency.”
“I’m not looking for leniency but rather diversion. They should be punished, or at the very least they need to spend time with someone who can get through to them and stop this behavior before it reaches a point of no return. Zach and David are good kids. I am fond of them. They are smart, curious, and kind. And they have always been pranksters. That happens when the only way to get your parents’ or grandparents’ attention is to win a prize or get into trouble. I’ve seen it too frequently in my career.” The headmaster sighed. “They will listen to their aunt, she has more true influence with them than other members of the family. Once she began working off-planet, their harmless pranks, which were mostly practical jokes, began escalating.”
“Do you know what precipitated today’s event?”
The headmaster shook his head. “Not specifically. Zach spoke with his father this morning. David is very protective of his younger brother. I suspect that set the wheels in motion.”
“Aalin told me about being shipped off to boarding school when she was eight. I confess I can’t wrap my head around that. My childhood was very different. At times I would have welcomed having less parental attention, but never that much disengagement.”
“She hated it, she found boarding school isolating and lonely.”
Pike raised an eyebrow. “You are acquainted?”
“Friends briefly when we were children, classmates. Until they uprooted her again a year later and sent her to the specialized music school. Her brothers and sisters exceled here. But it’s not a good solution for all children. Zach and David are more like Aalin than their other aunts and uncles.”
“What are you asking me to do?”
“If a member of Starfleet would take responsibility for them, especially a decorated Captain, I believe I can convince the dean not to press charges.” The headmaster finished earnestly, “Please give them an alternative.”
“Alright. Where are they?”
“Thank you, Captain, follow me.”
Pike watched the two boys through the window of a small room. He estimated them to be sixteen and fourteen. They were slouched on a sofa, the older teen’s body language radiated insolence, and his face was meticulously, and Pike surmised deliberately, composed in a bored expression; the younger looked scared.
This leave is the first Aalin and I have had together off the ship, our first truly private time as a couple. Including two surly teenagers is not an option. I’ll put the fear of God into them and then turn them over to Una for a couple of days filled with hard work on Enterprise. Yes, he smiled slightly, if anyone can put two undisciplined pranksters on the straight and narrow, it’s Number One. He turned to the headmaster, “I’ll take it from here. They will be spending the next couple of days on my ship. My second in command will be in touch to coordinate their return.”
“I’ll leave you to it. Use the room as long as you like.”
When Pike walked into the room the oldest boy looked him up and down, paying particular attention to Pike's uniform, and then said sarcastically, “You look like an overdressed, overpriced bell-hop.”
Pike demanded, “On your feet. Both of you.”
The older boy, the one Pike assumed was David, continued, “You can’t talk to us like that. Do you know who are parents are? And our grandparents?”
“In fact, I do. Now up. I won’t ask again.”
“That sounded more like an order than a request,” David taunted.
Pike shrugged. They continued to ignore his instruction. Pike calmly walked over to the sofa and steadily held their gazes until they reluctantly stood. David was tall enough to meet Pike’s eyes, Zach was a head shorter. David stared angrily at Pike. Zach looked down at the floor, avoiding eye contact.
David counted the stripes on Pike’s uniform and sneered. “Once my father finds out you are pushing us around,” he paused and then continued, emphasizing the next word as if it were an insult, “Ensign, you’ll be busted back to … to … what’s lower than Ensign?”
“Specialist or junior crewman,” Pike offered helpfully. “A bit of free advice. Don’t start an insult if you are not in possession of all the needed data. It loses its punch when you hesitate. And I seriously doubt you want your father’s close attention right now.”
David looked deflated after Pike called his bluff. “Go away and leave us alone. We want to go to jail.”
“As you have never experienced incarceration, much less inconvenience, I also doubt the veracity of that statement,” Pike replied.
“Just who the hell are you?” David insisted.
“I’m your uncle, you may address me as Captain Pike. And watch your language.”
Zach looked up and spoke for the first time. His voice was soft. “So you are the one who took her away from us.”
The pain in Zach’s expression and the sadness in his voice caught Pike off guard. Maybe I won’t turn them over to Una just yet. He pulled out his communicator, “Three to beam to central transport in Mojave.”

After the bombshell that my mother dropped on me at breakfast, I had a hard time concentrating on my clients. Lance was the first of the day, and I knew this was going to be a difficult session with him. I tried to stay focused, but when he arrived I starting thinking about how David would react knowing Sebastian was going to come over for dinner.
LANCE- “So Dr. Cleary I wanted to thank you for your job board out in the lobby. I found a job opportunity and called them and I have an appointment today with them for an interview.”
ADRIEL- “That is great Lance, so may I ask who the interview is with?”
LANCE- “Landgraab Industries, they are looking for a master fabricator and to teach others the skills of fabricating. I really think this may be the job for me!
ADRIEL- “That does sound promising, but, what about your freelancing? You going to give that up if you were to get this job?”
LANCE- “Not at first, but if it becomes a full time job, then I will probably have to do that.”
ADRIEL- “So, how does that make you feel, Lance?”
LANCE- “You enjoy asking that question, don’t you? Honestly, I don’t know how I feel about it. I guess I will know once I have the interview. You said something at the last session about talking about underlying issues, what did you mean by that?”
Tumblr media
ADRIEL- “Your time in jail. I think we need to discuss it. I mean I do not want to force you to, but I think some of your issues may stem from that. What did you do time for?”
LANCE- “Credit Card fraud and embezzlement. I wound up serving only 4 years, and of course restitution.”
I literally felt my jaw start to drop open. I assumed it was something petty, I had no idea it was a felony.
ADRIEL- “So you did all this when, I mean how long ago?”
LANCE- “Before I married. I was an accountant, and my employer was a pretty large company in San Myshuno. I fudged the books, and started taking money from the company credit card for my own use. Of course I was caught, and over a period of eight months, I stole over 34,000 simoleons. My wife, she wasn’t my wife at the time, was a public defender and she took my case. That is how we met.”
ADRIEL- “I see, so this was several years ago, and since then you never have been able to get the kind of job making the money you could as an accountant?”
LANCE- “Exactly! No one wants a felon working for them, no matter how long it has been!”
I could tell he was becoming agitated, and I wanted him to go on, but I certainly didn’t want him upset.

This is the series of events that unfolded in terms of tonight’s voting:
KevDavDay discuss voting. They ponder if Ian would have the votes. David believes Nicole would vote to keep Ian and that it could be a split vote.
David says they SHOULD split the vote to get the blood on Dani’s hands and show her cards
Day wonders if David would stick to the plan and not flip last second
David says he’s 100% for the split. (remember later) Kevin, Day, David agree to vote out Tyler to keep Ian. They agree how crazy the split will be.
KEVIN MARCHES HIS ASS TO DANI and tells all. Says David wants to purposely force blood on her hands.
Dani says she down for the split and will send Tyler out to his face
Dani talks to the KKKlan and says she’s NOT down for the split and is pissed off
Nicole and Felony discuss votes and says KevDavDay think she’s keeping Ian BUT she will vote out Ian for the KKKlan
She wants the fans not to hate her so she PLANS TO FAKE EMOTIONS FOR SYMPATHY OF VOTING OUT IAN
KKKlan learns about KevDavDay’s plan of a split vote and decide to fuck it up.
THEIR PLAN: David shook hands Day about not flipping (remember above) so Tyler has to pull David aside before the show begins so it looks like Tyler is asking for his vote. After they finish talking, Tyler has to purposely hug David in front of everyone and say “Thank you”. Julie will say that it’s a 5-3 to evict Ian. KevDavDay were certain it would be 4 votes (them + Nicole) so since it’s only 3 votes, (KevDavDay’s votes only, no Nicole) they would assume David flipped last second to keep Tyler. The KKKlan will push the narrative that David did flip the vote.
The KKKlan is excited by this plan for tonight.
Nicole wants to be taught how to act for tonight. Rat Behavior.
KKKlan wants Cody to win HOH.
Da’Vonne & David will be on the block if they win.
At the end of the day.......this is all Kevin's fault and we hate him in this house.
