- I just love those lyrics. Especially in the beginning."How many roads must a man walk down before you can call him a man?". It’s as though he’s asking,"How much do the oppressed have to do before they can be recognized as human beings?". That really gets you thinking, don’t it? - I already know "Blowin’ in the Wind," Malcolm. I heard it when it first came out. - It didn’t make you angry? - Why would it? - Isn’t this Bob Dylan fella a white boy from Minnesota? - So what? - So? This is a white boy from Minnesota who has nothing to gain from writing a song that speaks more to the struggles of our people, more to the movement, than anything that you have ever penned in your life, brother.

Movie #39 of 2020: The Old Guard
Gina Prince-Bythewood slays the directing. Gettin’ emotional over here off this on the surface action schlock franchise bait. Give ‘em the trilogy, I says.

The Old Guard (2020)
Netflix
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ish
Impression: brilliant concept that comes off as if they made it of a chopped up first draft. Charlize Theron was brilliant as Andy. Though they could have dug deeper with that character, with all the characters. Most disappointing was they really had potential with how Kiki Layne’s character truly impacted the team. They really skated over it when it should have been at the heart of it.
Collection: not likely. On Netflix so don’t need to anyway.
Concept: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Story: ⭐️⭐️1/2
Storytelling: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ish
Characters: ⭐️⭐️1/2
Casting: ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2ish
Visually: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Score: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Entertainment: ⭐️⭐️1/2
Best: Charlize Theron as Andy
Worst: overall story was missing key pieces that could have made the film amazing. Had the potential.
