Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I do (but - to be honest - it takes me FOREVER). I love comments. It’s so much easier to not leave comments than leave comments, so every time someone leaves one I’m blown away. I feel like - for leaving me a comment - you’re definitely owed an answer! I do apologize that it takes me awhile though - I am very bad at answering because they mean a lot to me and I get easily overwhelmed by the AO3 inbox I don’t know why. Blame anxiety.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending?

I’ll be honest, I don’t like angsty endings so I don’t have many of them. By far the angstiest ending I have is Flowers, Lies, and Forgiveness. This is a Bianca Davri/Varric Tethras fic set during the final act of DA2. I wrote it from Bianca’s POV - showing Varric unraveling under the pressure of Kirkwall and Bianca’s complicated feelings about infidelity to her husband who clearly cares about her as well. I wrote it for @hollyand-writes who always lets me lean into the tragic “fucked upness” of the pairing when I’m feeling like making Varric suffer.

What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending

I prefer happy endings so almost EVERYTHING has a happy ending. My favorite endings, so far, are for Cheating the Dread Wolf, which is my Varric/Cadash/Solas polycule (or as I like to refer to it - Solas has a dwarf kink) and The Viscount’s Mistress which is my Hurt/Comfort Cadash/Varric Trespasser bullshit.

Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you've written?

I have not written crossovers - but I am very into AUs in another setting that belongs to a different fictional universe. Most recently I got back into my Downton Abbey bullshit and wrote Flappers for Fen’harel which is basically a Downton Abbey AU Solas/Cadash and I’m not taking comments about the outrageousness of it.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Yep. Honestly though? Over the two years I’ve been active in Fandom, the shitty comments can be counted on one hand and usually came from the same people over and over again, who are easily blocked, and should stop seeking out clearly labeled content they don’t like. Me and my work are not for everyone - that’s REALLY okay. I’ve blocked people for no other reason than making things I don’t like - that doesn’t mean they’re bad people.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

GOD DO I.

I am extremely sex and kink positive. Because of this - a lot of my work involves sex in some way or another. I think sex is a beautiful part of many (although not all) relationships, and that it’s frequently glossed over in mainstream media (particularly queer, kinky, and polyam sex).

This ranges from sort of vanilla slow burns (My Cole/Bea fic, Compassion for an Assassin, has smut which hasn’t been posted yet. It’s Cole’s first time and is fairly vanilla and romantic, and occurs approximately 40k into the fic) to some pretty dubious consent near 24/7 dom/sub dynamics with BDSM kinks (I’ve written JUST as much of the Sereda/Gorim problematic smut as @jarakrisafis has in our series Forced Moves).

There’s very few kinks I’m not willing to touch at least to try out - even if I end up not liking them. And the ones that aren’t for me are 100% allowed to exist and I will fight for them to the bloody end. My only recommendation is CLEARLY labeling your shit and not being afraid to add a tag if someone asks you to.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not that I’m aware of? I’ve seen ideas I’ve tried on picked up by other people - but I don’t consider that stealing and it’s hard to trace “who has been inspired by who” because we ALL have been inspired by thousands of other people and frankly more stuff for me when I pull you over to my weird AUs and rarepairs.

I also think that’s a huge part of not getting stolen - I’ve got so much weird niche shit that only a couple people read that stealing from me is going to most likely be caught IMMEDIATELY the audience is so small.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

I don’t believe so!

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes! I’ve got some co-written secret smut with @blarfkey which almost nobody has seen, I’ve borrowed @tightassets Hawke, Lavellan, and Shepard for fics that she has illustrated, borrowed @tuffypelly‘s Adaars for some great fics, and my most ambitious project - the Forced Moves series with @jarakrisafis. It started out as us just exchanging gifts back and forth but we’ve wrangled it into Gambits and Countergambits, an Aeducan-origin prequel, that I’m VERY proud of.

I love co-writing very much, but it’s very important to find the right partner and for it to be someone you trust completely.

What's your all time favourite ship?

This is a stupidly hard question because I am, at heart, a multi-shipper.

I love Varric/Hawke and Varric/Cadash. I’m also a sucker for Solas/Cadash. My fandom pool noodle is Varric/Cadash/Solas which I adore, and I’m very fond of Cole/Cadash.

Most recently I’ve been DEEP in Aeducan/Gorim Saelac, Bhelen/Rica/Vartag, and Aeducan/Brosca feels. Dwarf origins are the best origins in my opinion and those characters are PERFECT.

What's a WIP you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

I fully plan on finishing everything. My writing style changed a lot, for the better, in a short period of time. I need to integrate my old style/new style and had to get a pep talk about how to do that. Now I’m ready to try as soon as I finish Compassion for an Assassin.

What are your writing strengths?

I write very sexy, hot smut. I also really like playing with character voice and making sure I get them “right” so I do a lot of experimenting before publishing a new character for the first time.

I struggle to write action scenes - it’s like pulling fucking teeth - but people really LOVE my action scenes and they read well. So that’s something I’m proud of even if it feels like doing fucking pull ups.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I never learned anything. My experiences with English and writing teachers were overwhelmingly negative. I’m unsure if I’m just not cut out for classes or if they were that bad, but I always left feeling like there was one “right” way to do it, and everything I liked was “bad”, so what was the point of “learning” anything?

It turns out there’s this very pompous, pretentious thought process in writing where people “assume” things must be done, but GOOD writing teachers teach you the rules and then how to break them. I either never had a good writing teacher or got too intimidated to give them a chance before bouncing.

So I’m exceedingly self-taught. I lack the vocabulary to discuss plot structure, characterization, grammar, etc. I instinctively know most of these things based on trial and error and reading, but I didn’t learn them and I miss a lot of nuance in the rules, but until recently I was still too intimidated and unsure of myself to admit that or take it seriously.

So - my defense mechanism is NOT taking ANYTHING seriously. If my writing is a joke to me, it’s gotta be a joke to everyone else, but that’s been a shield to hide behind instead of being thoughtful about things. I’m here to have fun, yes, but there’s nothing wrong with learning a technique to the art.

I’ve learned - mostly thanks to @blarfkey who is an amazing person and a wonderful teacher - that I am a good writer based on my self-teaching. And being intimidated of people who throw around impressive sounding words is a weakness that I am working on.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Use sparingly and with good reason. It should be short and explained later or clear from context.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Harry Potter on message boards back in the fucking day. Thankfully none of it exists anywhere anymore.

What's your favourite fic you've written?

This is such a sappy answer and I’m so sorry. My favorite things have been written for and because of people I love and care about. When I read them, I’m not just reading the story, but remembering the relationships I’ve made and how important they are.

So, my top three fics for THAT reason:

1. Cheating the Dread Wolf - written for @blarfkey who inspired the idea and ruthlessly encouraged me to make it happen. This fic was so healing for me because it heavily features Fatherhood within it - and I lost my father in June 2020. I don’t know if I’d have been able to do it without her and it was so important for me to do.

2. Gambits and Countergambits - written with @jarakrisafis and the culmination of a years worth of gifting shit back and forth and crafting a shared universe. The worldbuilding, smut, relationships, EVERYTHING about this fic is so deeply and passionately cared about by both of us and to our knowledge it is completely, totally unique.

3. Relentless, Ridiculous, and Rakish - one of my only primarily gen-fics focusing on a forming brother/sister relationship between Maria Cadash and @tuffypelly‘s Otsar Adaar. I very much enjoyed writing it for her <3

And then my overall favorite fic:

The Viscount’s Mistress: I have a lot of opinions about how fanfiction treats the anchor’s meltdown and the aftermath. It’s one of the things in DAI that resonated with me SO much as someone who lives with chronic pain and a disability. I loved the fact my OC was in the same shoes and STILL saving the world. This is very much a fic that explores all the dark sides of trauma, pain, and the mental health effects of it. But it ends on a happy and hopeful note.

My favorite ANS OC right now is Setsuko/Vixen/fox, from Nostalgic Family by your1ocalpotato. I decided to read some of Potato’s work on a whim a few months back, once I realized that Potato wrote stories, and I absolutely adore Setsuko, especially within Nostalgic Family; I just love that universe, the added backstory for Obi, the found family dynamics, the way that Setsuko may be rough around the edges from the life she lived, but she cares deeply for her family, especially Obi. Just the sibling bond that Setsuko and Obi have in it is absolutely incredible, and in that particular universe, Setsuko has barely met Izana, so there’s a chance that that slow burn will eventually pick up, and Izana/Setsuko is such a lovely pair; they contrast very beautifully together, and it’s got to be my favorite Izana/OC pairing. Honestly, Potato’s stories are really good and more people need to read them. https://archiveofourown.org/works/22926751/chapters/54800950 (The Den Series is the name of the particular series I’m talking about, though there is a different story with Setsuko, where she has a different backstory, and it’s pretty much all slowburn Izana/Setsuko. Both are worth a read, though I haven’t finished the longer, slow burn fic yet.) As for An AU I Took A Chance On (And Now Love), it would be the Quarantine AU, that Muselover1901 wrote: Here With(out) You. I figured I’d read a Quarantine AU, and that one was really beautifully written. It’s one of my favorites by Muse. (I may throw in a few other stories that I recommend by Muse, because she’s a super talented ZenYuki writer.) I usually avoid writing any Quarantine AUs or Pandemic AUs unless I really feel like I need to. The same usually goes with reading them; I’ve found at least one good Quarantine AU in about four or so fandoms now. (I usually only read one per fandom, if it seems interesting.) Honestly, this is probably my favorite Quarantine AU ever. It’s longer, and the world is pretty well established. (And it’s a really lovely domestic ZenYuki oneshot.) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13668279/1/Here-With-out-You I’m going to cheat a little on the next two, because I actually reviewed them (and reviewed them around the same time). First, I want to mention a fic that Made Me Laugh Out Loud; the first one that comes to mind is A Snowy Surprise by MuseLover1901. It’s the first one that pops into my head, though I know that I’ve laughed out loud at probably plenty of other stories. I actually was unsure before I read it whether it was a romantic story or not, and had been a bit nervous about jumping in and reading it, but once I started to read it, it was love at first sight. There’s a snowball fight in it, and I’ll have to say one particular hit made me laugh out loud. The story is mostly a friendship story. (The kind of story that I always long for more of in any fandom, because I love friendship stories as much as I love romance stories, and I also love family stories just as much.) But it’s lighthearted and doesn’t contain too many manga spoilers for me, since I’m terribly behind in the manga right now. (I haven’t read all of Muse’s work yet, because some of them have more manga spoilers than I’m ready to read. I’m biding my time for the day that I can just binge read them obsessively. It will happen.) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13668260/1/A-Snowy-Surprise So, here’s the story, I’m cheating by mentioning instead of the above one. (I reviewed them around the same time, so it works, I think.) For A Fic That Made Me Friends With The Author, I’d have to say A Quick Library Visit; it’s a short, sweet read, and if you want quick ZenYuki fluff, it’s a go to. I read it around the same time as the above two Muse fics, and for some reason, some of Muse’s newest stories didn’t have reviews, so I figured I’d review. Shortly after, I reviewed A Quick Library Visit and A Snowy Surprise, Muse messaged me to thank me. (She’s really cool by the way.) And then, a little while later, I joined the old ZenYuki Week Server, and Muse invited me over to a ZenYuki Writing Collab Server, and we became fast friends after that. (She remembered me based off of the two reviews I’d left on her stories, which was pretty cool and definitely humbling.) (Also, heads up, I’ll post the fanfiction links to Muse’s stories, but she also posts them on AO3, so they’re there as well.) (I wish there was a reverse for this panel, because through the ZenYuki Writing Server; I met phenomenal writers and began reading their work as well!) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13668268/1/A-Quick-Library-Visit As for A Fic That Got Me Involved In The Fandom, I may be cheating by mentioning this too, since I starting writing fanfics for ANS practically right after I finished watching Season Two. The Mistress, the Plan, and the Secret by MisusedEllipses really made me long to write for Prince Raji/Shirayuki, and really kicked me off in that little rarepair haven, that Season Two won me over towards. This is an incredible fanfic, has absolutely amazing characterization throughout, and is incomplete on Fanfiction. (I’m hoping that somewhere online, it sits pretty and finished, waiting for me to rediscover it. I may be overly hopeful.) Okay, it ties in onesided!ObiYuki feelings, onesided!PrinceRajiYuki feelings, and wonderful characterization and sibling banter between Eugena and Rona! Honestly, Raji is written so well that it practically reads like canon: a very hard feat indeed for any writer to accomplish. Just, wow! I don’t know who to root for: Raji, Zen, or Obi! It diverges from canon right before the kidnapping, so Shirayuki never gets kidnapped, and eventually a rather interesting Raji and Obi friendship forms, though that’s right where the last current chapter is. It hasn’t been updated in four or five, I guess now or soon, years, but it’s well worth a read. I will recommend this to anyone if given a chance, regardless of whether the person is a multishipper or not. I love the friendship, the romance, the family, and humor that comes along with Raji’s siblings’ banter. It’s just a phenomenal canon divergent fic, and it’s what really made me realize there was a need for more Raji X Shirayuki fanfics, and it left me crazy about filling that gap. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12156186/1/The-Mistress-the-Plan-and-the-Secret I’m going to make a rather honest claim here, even though I’m not sure how often this writer will come up in what I gush about here, but this writer should: genee is one of my favorite writers in the fandom. (I’m not sure if genee is still active.) When I eventually thought of a fic with A Favorite Minor Character of mine, this particular story came up. history doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes is an absolutely amazing precanon story where it focuses entirely on Ryuu, gives him some backstory! (It’s an amazing read, and it follows his journey to becoming a Court Herbalist.) Honestly, the fandom needs a lot more Ryuu fics. (On a side note, a fic by a different writer also came to mind with this, but since that’s more romantic than this gen fic, I figured I’d stick with this one. The other one that comes to mind is the only fic where I could find Kai as a main character. It’s by a different writer, but if I can stick it into this recommendation, I will tell you more about it.) Genee writes really good fics. I know genee has a fanfiction account, but I think genee might have an AO3 as well. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12687531/1/history-doesn-t-repeat-itself-but-it-often-rhymes For Pre-Canon, I want to mention a lovely story by an incredible (mostly?) MitsuKiki writer that may not actually be active anymore. (Unless the writer uses a different site now.) (This story is actually not a MitsuKiki fanfic, though it is still one of my all time favorite stories by fiesa.) Roses, Violets by fiesa. It’s a beautiful story that focuses on Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki during the years since Kiki came there. Zen develops a crush on an OC, who doesn’t like him like that, who actually likes Mitsuhide, interestingly enough. It’s not really a romance story, as it focuses on the way time passes and uses summer and flowers to express that. The perspectives shift, so some parts may need to be reread to understand who is feeling that way, but it’s all written so beautifully. You get to see Zen develop a crush and get heartbroken, Mitsuhide trying to be really nice, knowing Zen likes the woman and sort of trying to let something happen between Zen and the OC. Though, Zen feels that that’s hopeless, since she likes Mitsuhide. It’s more a story of the friendship between Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki, and what growing up entails. It’s Zen before Shirayuki, and it makes for a rather lovely, read. (It’s a multichapter, though it’s not a super lengthy one as far as chapter count goes. It’s well worth a read though.) (fiesa and geneee I discovered around the same time, and I love what both of them write so much.) (So, if you like it, it’s always worth checking out the rest of fiesa’s work.) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12864975/1/Roses-Violets I was just thinking over how to mention an incredible writer, that wrote two ZenYuki oneshot that I’ve read and fell in love with. (Spotted the oneshot section. If I have to refill part of the Bingo Board later, so be it.) The Art Of Watching Stars Fall by Zen Wisteria on Tumblr. The metaphors and images are just so pretty and beautiful and with gorgeous meanings. (The writer feels a bit like a poet, and since I love poetry, that’s a definite plus in my book.) It’s really fluffy and sweet and contains pretty much all of the wonderful reasons to ship ZenYuki. It’s a delight to read and to reread. It’s highly recommended by me. https://zen-wistaria.tumblr.com/post/117283326416/it-feels-like-years-since-shes-seen-his-face AU That Made Me Find The Source Material: Lyrias Station by Eclectic80. I’m cheating here too. Shh… I’ve been slowly getting into Star Trek over the years very deliberately, and I just loved this fic so much! I found it first on the ObiYuki Community, going through a lot older fics, and then fell in love with just the way that Eclectic80 wrote it! It’s an absolutely incredible Star Trek AU, and a lovely ObiYuki story. (I think I did start with reading Historical Fiction, and it surprised me by being a Star Trek AU.) (On the note of really great AUs, there’s a Star Wars AU for ObiYuki that’s incredible, that I’ll have to refind at some point, and an incredible Harry Potter AU. I actually asked a lot of questions to people who know Star Wars lore far better than I do, in order to work through how much of the Star Wars AU for ObiYuki could plausibly happen in canon. (I think it was all of it. It was a great and engaging read too!) The Harry Potter AU left me obsessed with it, and the accidental soul bonding spell, whoops. But, since I don’t remember their titles or who wrote them, I’ll have to recommend them some other day. (I think they are also far back on the community page. I haven’t finished exploring it, since I took a break a while ago.) Back to Lyrias Station, it’s an absolutely incredible read whether you know very little about Star Trek, nothing at all, or a lot. I fall somewhere in the middle, and honestly, it’s a fantastic read, whenever you want to dig in and explore. (I may have reread certain oneshots in it way too much for my own good, practically back to back. It’s a really wonderful reread as well.) https://archiveofourown.org/works/14414148/chapters/34487988 For A Fic That Gave Me A New OTP, though my OTP is hard to define, so I’m technically cheating here, but Let Me Be Bold by Kaedix. It’s an IzanaYuki story, and that is a pairing that I was curious about, but hadn’t really shipped until I read this oneshot collection. I absolutely need to read the third oneshot; it’s new, and bound to be incredible. But, the first oneshot had me sort of falling in love with Izana right alongside Shirayuki, and the second oneshot had me cheering for Shirayuki, and all in all, it’s an incredible read that is well worth your time, whether just to read something new or different or whether you are on the fence about this fabulous rarepair. (Since it did win me over to the ship, I’m including it here.) It’s incredible! Go read it! https://archiveofourown.org/works/20982494/chapters/49894448 I was trying to figure out a fic that I loved that was under a thousand words, and since I haven’t paid a huge amount of attention to the word count, I couldn’t think of one at first. So, I was going through one of the writers that I really like the writing of, and stumbled upon one that I immediately remembered. Importance by bountifulnuggets. I remembered it strictly as the wedding story where Zen and Shirayuki hugged Obi, who desperately needed a hug. I’ve never read anything like it before, and it’s saturated with friendship. (Nugget is a phenomenal writer, so basically anything by her is really good, so if you haven’t heard of her, go check out her writing. You won’t be disappointed.) (I got temporarily sidetracked before going through Nugget’s stories, by a story I hadn’t read by Eclectic80, a ZenYuki(!) story, that if for some reason, I extend and do more than a Bingo Board (or find another way to include), I’ll tell you the title of. Either way, the story by Nugget is a lovely hurt/comfort fic that is more comfort than hurt, and it’s definitely a beautiful read. https://archiveofourown.org/works/26433481 I’m going to pause here for now, even though I haven’t gotten a Bingo yet, because I’ve spent way too long today, compiling this list, and kind of want to share how far along it’s come so far. that's a tough one... lemme look. probably Promise, Back To the Train Tracks or better (which is literally a wip but people seem to like it) because I'm too scared to re-read my older fics

6. What element of writing do you find comes easily?

definitely romance and getting inside a character’s head. i usually just take my own thoughts and alter them accordingly :P (also I'm not saying I do this well, it’s just easiest for me 😭)

the outsiders 😭 mainly purly or whatever my friends want tbh. i love seeing them happy! in regards to stuff outside of fanfic, probably pining and complaining (I'm so interesting I know)

12. Tell us about a WIP you’re excited about.

OH so I'm working on this multi chapter based on taylor swift’s evermore (album) and I'm pretty excited about that. it’s set to include some steveboy, chylvia, jim possibly with mentions of stevepop and jally but I haven't worked on that in ages.

I'm also working on a jim multi chapter (better) which I'm really looking forward to developing!

I'm also thinking of dabbling in some atla fanfic territory, and I have a half baked wip about zuko so we’ll see how that goes!

16. Any guilty pleasure trope(s)?

i don't really have any specific tropes I'm a sucker for writing but I LOVE ENEMIES TO LOVERS! i also just like splurging on the mushy stuff, you probably know cause my fics are all like that.

26. Is there anything you’ve wanted to write, but you’ve been too scared to try?

hmmmmm I'm not too sure.... i really wish I could execute something really like emotional and heavy but I cant take myself seriously enough to do so. Im sort of scared that my following chapters of my multi chapters wont be as good as the first, but im still going to try and write them >:)

11. Who is your current OTP?

WWE: Ambrollins, NJPW: Golden Lovers, Lucha Underground: Drago/Aerostar (do they have a ship name? Dragonstar? It’s Dragonstar now.)

But I have a lot of ships. A lotta lot! I picked those because they are my favorites and because they’re the ones where even if I’m shipping, say, Dean/Cesaro I want Seth to still be lingering around the edges, same with Kenny and Kota. It feels like a characterization issue, where they’re still important and a presence in the other’s life even if they’re not present in the story. (God knows Kenny’s made very clear how much thinking he does about Kota JUST CALL HIM FOR GOD SAKES.) On the other hand I don’t actually ship Drago or Aerostar with anyone else so they might be my biggest OTP? I’m so glad LU got another season, all.

15. Is there an obscure ship which you love?

I have so many rarepairs! Wrestling is good for multishipping and falling in love with that random ship from that PPV that autoplayed on the Network when you were too lazy to find the remote.

17. Who was your first OTP and are they still your favourite?

Wrestling OTP? PROBABLY Randy Savage/Elizabeth from way back when (there’s a reason everyone cries when they watch Wrestlemania VII, I only wish the behind the scenes could have been half as fairy tale) but the first ship I actively shipped to the point of trying to write fic for it was AJ Styles/Christopher Daniels from TNA’s heyday. And I still love them so yes, I guess they are!

20. Any ships which you surprised yourself by liking?

I really, really loved Noam/Alicia when that was going on, especially right when they were just getting together (if you could have SEEN me mark out when she saved him from Cedric that one match!) And I had no idea Chase and Fale would be so charming in Tag League! So cute.

Way back at the dawn of time when my family first got the internet (ask your parents about WebTV, kids!) I searched for Gambit, my favorite X-Men character, found a link to a mailing list for the Gambit Fan Club (ask your parents about mailing lists too) subscribed and since it was a joint fic/discussion list I was reading fic about ten minutes later. It was a momentous day!

It took a lot longer to successfully write fic, mind, I have a lot of half written things in old notebooks scattered around, but I’ve always been in one fandom or another.

⚫ “bell, book, and candle” by skittidyne is so fucking good I want to scream. It’s long, well written, creative, and has excellent characterization. I’m in awe of what the author has crafted. Like…goals. Such. Fucking. Goals.

It’s a modern day magic au with DaiSuga, IwaOi, TsukiYama, and sooooo many characters. I’ve only recently gotten into the whole fantasy au thing, but this is gold and i need everyone to read it right now, pls.

“blood will have blood” is by skittidyne too and it’s absolute perfection as well and it’s one of the fics where I squeal like a fangirl when I see it’s been updated.

⚫ “it’s lonely on jupiter” by skyestiel. Hey, you like IwaOi? You like crying? This is the fic for you. It brought me to absolute tears when I read it. College boy Oiks and alien Iwa-chan with side pairing of DaiSuga. Read it and weep; you won’t regret it.

⚫ “Stars & Sweaters” by SoulieBird is a UshiYama fic set in the A/B/O verse. It’s sweet and good and I think they nailed the characterization perfectly. Soulie has other amazing fics like “Turn Off the Lights” and “It Is a Dangerous Thing, Your Love” and I highly suggest checking out their works. It’s A++++

⚫ “Open Tab” by mooifyourecows is DaiSuga perfection. Daichi is a hot bartender and Suga is a talented art student. It’s a slow burn and the author’s portrayal of Daichi is absolutely fanfuckingtastic. Read, pls.

⚫ “these stars here on earth” by oisugasuga is the oisuga fanfic, in my opinion. The author is so, so, so good at spinning splendid imagery and the talent is just…*sigh* So good. So, so good. The plot is interesting and Oikawa is perfection in it and I just want to shove it in everyone’s faces.

And so this doesn’t get much longer, more underneath. 💕

The Haikyuu community is absolutely blessed with many, many talented fic writers and artists. I could gush on and on about the works I’ve read and I really have a hard time picking favorites because they’re all so good

Hey fren, do you like rarepairs? The prepare to meet your IwaAka enabler. Futuristic soulmate au featuring college kids Iwaizumi and Akaashi. Slowburn and pining with a dash of hurt/comfort. Read it, fren.

⚫ “Love in a Hopeless Place” by caelestisxyz

This fic has a special place in my heart. It’s done a really good job of portraying sex work and bdsm. Obviously mature themes, but the characterization of Tsukki and Kuroo is fantastic. A good read.

⚫ “tan lines” by deanpendragon

A pining TsukiYama fic based around the summer training camp. The imagery is spun gold, I promise. It’s good and I urge you to read it,.

⚫ “the blossoms, just in time” by thewindraiser

DaiSuga featuring college student/nanny Suga and lawyer Daichi. Slowburn, pining, hurt/comfort. It’s a very tender, very good story and Suga’s characterization is so fantastic it makes me want to cry. It’s an absolute must read.

There are still a ton more fics I can recommend and even more one-shots. The fanfic writers of the Haikyuu community have written anything and everything and you can definitely find what you crave if you have a look.

16. Are their any popular ships in your fandom which you dislike? Ah man, a lot. I love my ships, but in comparison to a lot of people, I'm not that hardcore of a shipper. So in turn, I tend to dislike a lot of things that aren't popular and it's a rare thing for me to like something that is popular lol. First thing that comes to mind is Celes/Locke from FFVI. That ship didn't make sense to me when I first played it at 11/12 and it makes even less sense to me as an adult. I don't care for any ships with Cloud in VII. Same with Garnet/Zidane in IX. Geez, most of the ships in Dragon Age, too. Sigh... yeah :\ I'm just a non-canon/rarepair shipper forever.23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.May Death Find You Alive I wrote it for @lunamanar for her birthday and I dunno. I tried so damn hard to polish it super shiny, because I know she's so good at nitpicking the smallest things (which I love when she does that) and didn't want her to do that for a birthday gift. I'm just really proud of how it came out and contains a lot of elements I enjoy reading, so yeah. Lotsa feels for this one.24. What fic do you desperately need to rewrite or edit? 45. What is your all time favourite fanfic? I love so many fics for so many different reasons. It's so difficult to just pick one and call it a day. I remember when I was younger, there was this Beatrix/Garnet post-canon story that went over the development of their relationship and that was my favorite back then. God, I wish I knew the name of it :( it was one of those fics that made me start shipping them and was just comfort food for lil queer me. As an adult, the one I keep thinking of is The Modern History of Zelda by rynling/pocketseizure. Everything about that fic excited me and in turn, makes me want to be a better writer. The worldbuilding is astounding, the magic is whimsical and gorgeous, the dialogue is witty, the build up in the relationship is amazing, and it's overall just damn solid. It warmed my heart and made me feel like a kid being told a magical bedtime story. I love it so much.46. If someone was to read one of your fanfics, which fic would you recommend to them and why?Hmmmm... maybe And I Will Follow You into the Dark Even if you're not familiar with Transistor, it's a lot of genuine themes people deal with, myself included. I really wrote from my heart with this one (I mean, I try to with all of them, but some of them are harder hitting than others) so if someone was to read just one, this really sums up a lot of stuff in regards to what I write.

AU is a close second. it was kinda hard to find a FAVORITE CANON fic 'cos all of your fics seem to be set in a time where they're older (post-canon if you will)-

1. What OTPS in your fandom(s) do you just notget?*

There are a few OTPs that I get in relative terms to thestory, or aesthetic purposes, but I am going to just name off a variedselection off the top of my head:

Rogermon (Lord of the Flies) – I actually wrote an entirelittle rant about why I don’t like/get this pairing here so if you want my fullopinion about why I don’t get this, you can click here. But for the sake of youguys just knowing to know a slice of the controversial pie, Rogermon just doesn’tmake sense because it’s Simon and Roger, two of the more introverted characterswithin the novel that have barely interacted and if they did canonicallyspeaking Roger would probably feel the need to hurt him, just like with everyother boy except for Jack. So, yeah.

Ralphiggy (Lord of the Flies) – This ship is pretty easy toexplain why I don’t get it, and it’s honestly pretty funny considering myheader might give you the idea that I ship them. I really don’t, I just findmyself looking like some kind of hybrid mix between the two because I’m blondeand I wear glasses (and I’m a lil’ chubby but hey who is judging here. Anyways,the reason I don’t ship these two is just because Ralph pretty much was annoyedby Piggy throughout the entirety of the novel until just before Piggy dies.Ralph didn’t find anything charming about Piggy and honestly, I would arguethat Piggy was kind of on the same boat but he fled to Ralph for protection,and Ralph needed Piggy for support. However I’m kind of more open towards thisship in a platonic sense, because I do love how their relationship buildsthroughout the novel and I honestly love when people tackle these two, realistically,in fic. I just don’t like the ship.

Jack/Simon (Lord of the Flies) – Another ship that doesn’t reallymake any sense and yet I still see fanart for it, but whatever. I’m not goingto call out this rarepair too hard just because it is rare and I hardly see itanymore. Obviously, the reason I don’t get this is because Jack and Simonhardly interact in the novel and when Jack does talk about Simon it’s of theupmost disregard. So yeah, not a huge fun.

I’m going to talk about Style in the next question, no needin bringing that ship up here.

Garneal, or Pearlnet (I don’t know) (Steven Universe): YeahI can kind of get why people are attracted to this ship, Garnet and Pearl carea lot for each other and their relationship has been building positively sincethe beginning of the show and especially during the Sardonyx arc. However I don’tget Garnet ships in general, which is what makes this weird in my eyes. Garnetis a relationship. She’s a character in and of herself but her entirecharacterization is built pretty much around a strong, mutual relationshipbetween two other gems. The idea of Garnet being in a relationship with anotherGem makes it seem like people are trying to pair Garnet to somebody elsebecause they feel like she needs that other person, even though she’s arelationship in and of herself and she’s happy with who she is. Plus, not goingto get into detail about Pearl and how I don’t really find her as interestingas the other CCs, so there you go.

2. Are there popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*

Oh yeah.

Lapidot (Steven Universe); I find this relationship boringand uninteresting. Friendship wise, I think it’s awesome and I wouldn’t want tochange anything about that. However it seems inevitable that Peridot’s firstfusion will be with Lapis, and a part of me is bummed about that because I feellike with her development with Amethyst – development we’ve actually seen onscreen and can vouch for – would be a better candidate for first-time fusion.(What can I say? I ship Amedot). Lapidot, to me, is just not that fun orexciting and I would much rather them be a BroTP. I can hardly ship Lapis withanyone, honestly.

Style (South Park): I love these two as friends. I love howin the cartoon these two would do so much for one another. However I can’treally ship it romantically even though they were the first ship I got intowhen it came to the South Park fandom. I actually got into Kyman (which areKyle and Cartman, yeah, sue me) because I was looking for Style fanartback-in-the-day. So yeah, I guess this ship is good for something. If I had toship anyone with Stan it would definitely be Wendy, and I was going to say ifsomething isn’t broke why fix it, but Wendy and Stan need to have a more stablerelationship, but at least they work and at least Stan is happy with her. Whydo Style fans needs to demonize Wendy in this retrospect? Give the boys somehappiness, y’know? But yeah, Style is a ship I BroTP but wouldn’t romanticallyget behind.

This is going to be kind of weird considering they werecanon for a while in the show but another BroTP that should’ve stayed a BroTPwas Clexa (Clarke and Lexa from The 100). So, for a little bit I did ship thesetwo. You could see the progression between them and they basically played offlike a lesbian version of Bellarke (put your rifles away, sweeties, I shipBellarke to the moon and back and this is just a brief overview). However Ifelt like with Lexa’s characterization they were trying too hard. It didn’treally feel natural for these two to become romantic and when they finally did,I didn’t care anymore. Lexa is honestly one of the most boring characterswithin The 100, even compared to some of the starting cast that had cool personalitiesbut didn’t really do anything. Lexa is just a mannequin with a restingbitch-face. We can say I’m not really too into that. But as comrades, I likedtheir dynamic, just please stop trying to force lesbian romances for the sakeof keeping it within the demographic. If you’re going to write a strong,tightly-knit lesbian relationship, then do it.

So much for Clarke’s bisexual representation.

3. Do you have a NoTP in your fandom? Are they apopular OTP?

The only NoTPs I really have are for a view. Some of myfollowers might glare at me from the sidelines but whatever.

Zutara (Avatar: the Last Airbender): Not really going intotoo much detail about why I just don’t like this ship except for the aesthetic,but I’ve always loved the Kataang relationship since the show started airingand I’m not really going to change my mind about it.

NaruSaku (Naruto): This should have been with my BroTPcategory but I already went into too much detail there with a few ships, so forthe sake of keeping this brief, I have always preferred NaruHina (Naruto andHinata), but I do love Sakura as a character and I love her growingfriendship/platonic!relationship with Naruto. I kind of don’t like SasuSaku,though, but I feel more indifferent towards them.

Keith/Shiro (Voltron): I just prefer Klance, and I actuallyship Shiro with Pidge even though people are going to fire up their torches andchase me down for it because of Shiro’s age? Or whatever? I don’t really care,people might already be pissed off about this listing already. Anyways, yeah, Iship Klance way more even though I’m still kind of indifferent towards thosetwo, but I am getting more into them.

Diane/Mr. Peanutbutter (BoJack Horseman): I feel moreindifferent about these two but I like how their relationship is portrayed inthe series and I definitely like how they didn’t divorce automatically like somany couples do and they actually work through their problems. The only issueis I prefer Diane with BoJack just because I feel like the two of them can beamazing together and just what each other needs, but maybe that’s because I canimagine it greatly in my head but I know it would just end up hurting Diane tobe with someone so destructive and broken. Eh, I still ship it. Mr.Peanutbutter can annoy me so much, as well, regardless of how adorable he is.

I can’t really think of others, honestly.

4. Has fandom ever ruined a pairing for you?

Kind of on a mix between The 100 with Clexa but that shipwas already a sinking one without the fandom so it wasn’t like I needed theirhelp for that. The fandom for Steven Universe is a toxic hellhole, so shippingAmedot nowadays is practically like stepping into radioactive waste since allof the Lapidot fans want to throw a rope around your neck, but it’s arguablethat’s how it is with whichever ship between the two you prefer, so it’swhatever.

So yeah, The 100 and Steven Universe because all of thoseSJW bitches.

And let’s not forget how the South Park fandom can be attimes, just let me ship Kyman in peace goddammit.

9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?

Um, I feel like there are a lot of characters from certainshows/books that I just dislike so I’m going to just list off a view andexplain why:

Roger (Lord of the Flies) – He’s really got one thing goingfor him in the novel and that is he likes killing things and people. There’s nothing‘deep’ about him and he’s not going to have this realization that killingpeople is bad so people need to stop removing that characterization from him.Just leave him alone and let him be what he is, honestly.

Ronaldo (Steven Universe) – Annoying character thatrepresents all of the terrible things about the Steven Universe fandom? Yeah,not a huge fan.

Lars (Steven Universe) – I find him irritating but he isgetting better and hopefully the Wanted event will help me like him more.

Mr. Garrison (South Park) – I originally found him reallyfunny and interesting but now I just find him annoying. I do still laugh atsome of his jokes, though.

Hannah Baker (Thirtreen Reasons Why) – This is a new one, Iactually started watching the series a few days ago and am almost finished withit. That being said, Hannah as a character in this series is extremely annoyingand probably one of the biggest bitches ever. What’s up with female charactersin this series being absolute bitches for no reason just because someone doesn’trespond in time or have a profound answer to their questions? Just let thedudes relax. I get it, Hannah, you’ve been through some rough shit but maybe Iwould care for your more if you weren’t such a pretentious bitch. Wow, I saidbitch a lot, but I’m not really sorry for that.

And this is kind of random but off the top of my headanother character I despise is Abigail from The Crucible. I could not stand herwithin the play and if I ever reread it I will throw my copy against a wall.She’s such a useless waste of space within the plot, just burn her, please.

10. Most disliked arc? Why?

Um, this is pretty hard because I don’t really dislike arcs,I just find some of them not written well? But off the top of my head, I wouldhave to say several arcs in the second season of Voltron could have beenwritten a lot better and a large part of that season felt extremely rushed. Itwas kind of like the same thing with mid-seasons of Legend of Korra, so I’m notreally surprised, but I can’t point towards a single arcs because there were aLOT of arcs in the second season that just didn’t feel like they were going anywhereand that they could have been solved in a span of two episodes.

So yeah, Voltron. But other than that I will have to thinkabout that. I don’t really watch too much plot-heavy shows so that’s why thisone of kind of hard for me. I can’t even think of a The 100 arc I disliked, andthat’s saying something ‘cause there were a lot.

I don’t mean anything bad by it.) (It’s better edited than my first submission for it, that had a bunch of typos, but since this is long, I may not have proofread and fixed up everything worded funny or spelled wrong.)

I’m going to preface this off with the fact that I’m a multishipper, and ship quite a variety of pairings, so this list might go all over the place. (Also, I’ve never written a fic rec before, though I have recommended fics and gushed about several often enough.) First of all, Above and Below Surface by Whitehorse102 immediately comes to mind. It’s probably my favorite AU fic that I’ve ever read for ZenYuki and possibly, my favorite I’ve ever read in general. It’s a Mer!AU; a type of AU that I’m always reading, but Whitehorse102 writes it so differently than any other Mer!AU, I’ve seen. The world building is insanely good, and the story reads a lot more like a published novel than a multichapter fanfic; there’s world building that even takes in parts of canon and plays around with them a bit. The ZenYuki is built up slowly. It’s a work in progress of the writer’s, and such a lovely read, that you absolutely would not regret reading it or rereading it. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12201172/1/Above-and-Below-Surface Apparently, the first fic I read was Of Assassins and Apples by Realm-Leaper, though since I sometimes accidentally refavorite stuff, changing the date that I favorited it or may have read stuff I didn’t favorite, I might not be accurate with this. It’s an Obi-centric oneshot collection with two oneshots, that I vaguely remember reading. (Eventually, I’ll share stuff that aren’t on Fanfiction.net, because I read all over the place.) I started rereading it, and it has almost all the amazing Obi headcanons that I also have. The first oneshot is an Obi and Zen friendship piece, and honestly, maybe this is where most of my Obi headcanons came from as far as backstory. This oneshot collection of two oneshots is well worth your time! I’d wondered if the Mukaze and Obi scene was canon, had convinced myself that the talk they had was canon and took place during the Tanbarun Arc, but it was this fanfic, the second oneshot has an absolutely incredible and in character scene where Obi and Mukaze talk a few things out. (Honestly, it’s on my mind whenever I read a story where the two of them talk or interact in any way, and it a hundred percent affects the way I remember canon.) So do check it out! It’s a lovely two oneshot collection centering on Obi. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12933248/1/Of-Assassins-and-Apples My favorite ANS OC right now is Setsuko/Vixen/fox, from Nostalgic Family by your1ocalpotato. I decided to read some of Potato’s work on a whim a few months back, once I realized that Potato wrote stories, and I absolutely adore Setsuko, especially within Nostalgic Family; I just love that universe, the added backstory for Obi, the found family dynamics, the way that Setsuko may be rough around the edges from the life she lived, but she cares deeply for her family, especially Obi. Just the sibling bond that Setsuko and Obi have in it is absolutely incredible, and in that particular universe, Setsuko has barely met Izana, so there’s a chance that that slow burn will eventually pick up, and Izana/Setsuko is such a lovely pair; they contrast very beautifully together, and it’s got to be my favorite Izana/OC pairing. Honestly, Potato’s stories are really good and more people need to read them. https://archiveofourown.org/works/22926751/chapters/54800950 (The Den Series is the name of the particular series I’m talking about, though there is a different story with Setsuko, where she has a different backstory, and it’s pretty much all slowburn Izana/Setsuko. Both are worth a read, though I haven’t finished the longer, slow burn fic yet.) As for An AU I Took A Chance On (And Now Love), it would be the Quarantine AU, that Muselover1901 wrote: Here With(out) You. I figured I’d read a Quarantine AU, and that one was really beautifully written. It’s one of my favorites by Muse. (I may throw in a few other stories that I recommend by Muse, because she’s a super talented ZenYuki writer.) I usually avoid writing any Quarantine AUs or Pandemic AUs unless I really feel like I need to. The same usually goes with reading them; I’ve found at least one good Quarantine AU in about four or so fandoms now. (I usually only read one per fandom, if it seems interesting.) Honestly, this is probably my favorite Quarantine AU ever. It’s longer, and the world is pretty well established. (And it’s a really lovely domestic ZenYuki oneshot.) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13668279/1/Here-With-out-You I’m going to cheat a little on the next two, because I actually reviewed them (and reviewed them around the same time). First, I want to mention a fic that Made Me Laugh Out Loud; the first one that comes to mind is A Snowy Surprise by MuseLover1901. It’s the first one that pops into my head, though I know that I’ve laughed out loud at probably plenty of other stories. I actually was unsure before I read it whether it was a romantic story or not, and had been a bit nervous about jumping in and reading it, but once I started to read it, it was love at first sight. There’s a snowball fight in it, and I’ll have to say one particular hit made me laugh out loud. The story is mostly a friendship story. (The kind of story that I always long for more of in any fandom, because I love friendship stories as much as I love romance stories, and I also love family stories just as much.) But it’s lighthearted and doesn’t contain too many manga spoilers for me, since I’m terribly behind in the manga right now. (I haven’t read all of Muse’s work yet, because some of them have more manga spoilers than I’m ready to read. I’m biding my time for the day that I can just binge read them obsessively. It will happen.) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13668260/1/A-Snowy-Surprise So, here’s the story, I’m cheating by mentioning instead of the above one. (I reviewed them around the same time, so it works, I think.) For A Fic That Made Me Friends With The Author, I’d have to say A Quick Library Visit; it’s a short, sweet read, and if you want quick ZenYuki fluff, it’s a go to. I read it around the same time as the above two Muse fics, and for some reason, some of Muse’s newest stories didn’t have reviews, so I figured I’d review. Shortly after, I reviewed A Quick Library Visit and A Snowy Surprise, Muse messaged me to thank me. (She’s really cool by the way.) And then, a little while later, I joined the old ZenYuki Week Server, and Muse invited me over to a ZenYuki Writing Collab Server, and we became fast friends after that. (She remembered me based off of the two reviews I’d left on her stories, which was pretty cool and definitely humbling.) (Also, heads up, I’ll post the fanfiction links to Muse’s stories, but she also posts them on AO3, so they’re there as well.) (I wish there was a reverse for this panel, because through the ZenYuki Writing Server; I met phenomenal writers and began reading their work as well!) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13668268/1/A-Quick-Library-Visit As for A Fic That Got Me Involved In The Fandom, I may be cheating by mentioning this too, since I starting writing fanfics for ANS practically right after I finished watching Season Two. The Mistress, the Plan, and the Secret by MisusedEllipses really made me long to write for Prince Raji/Shirayuki, and really kicked me off in that little rarepair haven, that Season Two won me over towards. This is an incredible fanfic, has absolutely amazing characterization throughout, and is incomplete on Fanfiction. (I’m hoping that somewhere online, it sits pretty and finished, waiting for me to rediscover it. I may be overly hopeful.) Okay, it ties in onesided!ObiYuki feelings, onesided!PrinceRajiYuki feelings, and wonderful characterization and sibling banter between Eugena and Rona! Honestly, Raji is written so well that it practically reads like canon: a very hard feat indeed for any writer to accomplish. Just, wow! I don’t know who to root for: Raji, Zen, or Obi! It diverges from canon right before the kidnapping, so Shirayuki never gets kidnapped, and eventually a rather interesting Raji and Obi friendship forms, though that’s right where the last current chapter is. It hasn’t been updated in four or five, I guess now or soon, years, but it’s well worth a read. I will recommend this to anyone if given a chance, regardless of whether the person is a multishipper or not. I love the friendship, the romance, the family, and humor that comes along with Raji’s siblings’ banter. It’s just a phenomenal canon divergent fic, and it’s what really made me realize there was a need for more Raji X Shirayuki fanfics, and it left me crazy about filling that gap. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12156186/1/The-Mistress-the-Plan-and-the-Secret I’m going to make a rather honest claim here, even though I’m not sure how often this writer will come up in what I gush about here, but this writer should: geneee is one of my favorite writers in the fandom. (I’m not sure if geneee is still active.) When I eventually thought of a fic with A Favorite Minor Character of mine, this particular story came up. history doesn’t repeat itself but it often rhymes is an absolutely amazing precanon story where it focuses entirely on Ryuu, gives him some backstory! (It’s an amazing read, and it follows his journey to becoming a Court Herbalist.) Honestly, the fandom needs a lot more Ryuu fics. (On a side note, a fic by a different writer also came to mind with this, but since that’s more romantic than this gen fic, I figured I’d stick with this one. The other one that comes to mind is the only fic where I could find Kai as a main character. It’s by a different writer, but if I can stick it into this recommendation, I will tell you more about it.) Geneee writes really good fics. I know geneee has a fanfiction account, but I think geneee might have an AO3 as well. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12687531/1/history-doesn-t-repeat-itself-but-it-often-rhymes For Pre-Canon, I want to mention a lovely story by an incredible (mostly?) MitsuKiki writer that may not actually be active anymore. (Unless the writer uses a different site now.) (This story is actually not a MitsuKiki fanfic, though it is still one of my all time favorite stories by fiesa.) Roses, Violets by fiesa. It’s a beautiful story that focuses on Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki during the years since Kiki came there. Zen develops a crush on an OC, who doesn’t like him like that, who actually likes Mitsuhide, interestingly enough. It’s not really a romance story, as it focuses on the way time passes and uses summer and flowers to express that. The perspectives shift, so some parts may need to be reread to understand who is feeling that way, but it’s all written so beautifully. You get to see Zen develop a crush and get heartbroken, Mitsuhide trying to be really nice, knowing Zen likes the woman and sort of trying to let something happen between Zen and the OC. Though, Zen feels that that’s hopeless, since she likes Mitsuhide. It’s more a story of the friendship between Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki, and what growing up entails. It’s Zen before Shirayuki, and it makes for a rather lovely read. (It’s a multichapter, though it’s not a super lengthy one as far as chapter count goes. It’s well worth a read though.) (fiesa and geneee I discovered around the same time, and I love what both of them write so much.) I’m cheating here too. Shh… I’ve been slowly getting into Star Trek over the years very deliberately, and I just loved this fic so much! I found it first on the ObiYuki Community, going through a lot older fics, and then fell in love with just the way that Eclectic80 wrote it! It’s an absolutely incredible Star Trek AU, and a lovely ObiYuki story. (I think I did start with reading Historical Fiction, and it surprised me by being a Star Trek AU.) (On the note of really great AUs, there’s a Star Wars AU for ObiYuki that’s incredible, that I’ll have to refind at some point, and an incredible Harry Potter AU. I actually asked a lot of questions to people who know Star Wars lore far better than I do, in order to work through how much of the Star Wars AU for ObiYuki could plausibly happen in canon. (I think it was all of it. It was a great and engaging read too!) The Harry Potter AU left me obsessed with it, and the accidental soul bonding spell, whoops. But, since I don’t remember their titles or who wrote them, I’ll have to recommend them some other day. (I think they are also far back on the community page. I haven’t finished exploring it, since I took a break a while ago.) Back to Lyrias Station, it’s an absolutely incredible read whether you know very little about Star Trek, nothing at all, or a lot. I fall somewhere in the middle, and honestly, it’s a fantastic read, whenever you want to dig in and explore. (I may have reread certain oneshots in it way too much for my own good, practically back to back. It’s an IzanaYuki story, and that is a pairing that I was curious about, but hadn’t really shipped until I read this oneshot collection. I absolutely need to read the third oneshot; it’s new, and bound to be incredible. But, the first oneshot had me sort of falling in love with Izana right alongside Shirayuki, and the second oneshot had me cheering for Shirayuki, and all in all, it’s an incredible read that is well worth your time, whether just to read something new or different or whether you are on the fence about this fabulous rarepair. (Since it did win me over to the ship, I’m including it here.) It’s incredible! So, I was going through one of the writers that I really like the writing of, and stumbled upon one that I immediately remembered. Importance by bountifulnuggets. I remembered it strictly as the wedding story where Zen and Shirayuki hugged Obi, who desperately needed a hug. I’ve never read anything like it before, and it’s saturated with friendship. (Nugget is a phenomenal writer, so basically anything by her is really good, so if you haven’t heard of her, go check out her writing. You won’t be disappointed.) (I got temporarily sidetracked before going through Nugget’s stories, by a story I hadn’t read by Eclectic80, a ZenYuki(!) story, that if for some reason, I extend and do more than a Bingo Board (or find another way to include), I’ll tell you the title of. Either way, the story by Nugget is a lovely hurt/comfort fic that is more comfort than hurt, and it’s definitely a beautiful read. https://archiveofourown.org/works/26433481 Finally, found it! Okay, the Missing Scene fic that is my favorite is Do something with this guy by Codango. It explores how Obi went from shooting at Shirayuki to being Zen’s retainer, and it does a lovely job of it! I absolutely adore this story, and the writing of it is beautiful. I took the time to reread it, and Obi’s perspective is spot on in it, and it gives amazing behind the scenes looks at what is happening, mostly over how he came to work for Zen. But, it also includes the scene where Obi catches Shirayuki for the first time, all told through Obi’s perspective, and his thought process is absolutely perfect. His thoughts read very much like the canon ones, that we are sometimes shown, and it feels like it really does contain the missing scene from canon. It’s an amazing read, and definitely worth your time. https://archiveofourown.org/works/4386368 I’m going to cheat again here. (Who knows? These times I feel like I’m cheating, may actually be fair.) But, I don’t know what tropes, I like or whether I’ve read Trope Reversals, but I was going back through ObiYukiFiteNite and ObiYukiMadness on the community, and stumbled upon a story that I read ages ago, that fits kind of well with my Mukaze headcanons, and is goofy enough that I could see him acting that way. It does turn a trope over on its head, too. For Favorite Trope Reversal, I’m going to mention Mukaze’s Gift (Only One Bed) by HideTheRemote. The debate over whether Mukaze supports ObiYuki in it is rather amusing, and the gift, itself, is rather funny as a wedding gift to his daughter and son-in-law. It’s a delightful read that certainly surprised me. (I’d also never seen the One Bed Trope with a married couple before, so that was an added bonus.) I imagine that when he has grandkids one day; he’ll realize that his gift wasn’t used as intended. (Poor delivery guy, who had to know what kind of bed he was delivering, based off of the sheer awkwardness of the situation.) https://hidetheremote.tumblr.com/post/172338198868/mukazes-gift-only-one-bed For Gen Fic, I’m going to go with Shirayuki’s Laugh by otomiya-tickles. This is a multichapter story, and not every chapter is actually gen. (There’s onesided ObiYuki and established ZenYuki at parts.) It’s literally a story where Shirayuki’s friends find out she’s ticklish slowly, and each one gets to tickle her. It takes place within various parts of canon, and is a really fun read. I’m pretty sure that I laughed every time she did. (Even though I probably shouldn’t admit that, since I wasn’t being tickled.) It’s a blast from start to finish, and I ended up reading all of the chapters in one go. Most of it’s just friendship. (Ooh, my favorite chapter is probably the Raji one. Shh…) Also, it gives a reason as to why Shirayuki chose not to ride on Mitsuhide’s horse, after her first time riding on a horse with him. (It’s just an absolute treat, and I never knew tickle fics could be this fun!) I highly recommend it. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11861915/1/Shirayuki-s-Laugh I’ve included so many stories already with some of my favorite headcanons and ones that feel canon, but I realized I still had a story to share with that category. So the story That Contains My Favorite Headcanon is Bittersweet Heart by DemonHeart42. It’s actually a new fic, and a onesided ObiYuki story. (Like canon, there’s established ZenYuki.) It’s sort of post canon, as it shows Obi and Shirayuki’s friendship after Shirayuki and Zen are married. It flows like canon, and the writing is beautiful. The headcanon bit that strikes me is earlier in the one shot, Obi’s reasons for never calling Shirayuki by her name are addressed, and it hits I’m pretty sure all of my Obi headcanons for that, but not only that, but there’s thought behind how long Obi’s loved her, which he can not trace back to a particular moment, since he feels that he’s always loved her, though he certainly knows he didn’t fall for her the first time he saw her. (It matches my headcanons for Obi’s feelings to a T, pretty much.) It’s a lovely read, and the only Akagami No Shirayuki-Hime story that DemonHeart42 has written. (It does make me long to read more stories by DemonHeart42, and I undoubtedly will, if another Akagami No Shirayuki-Hime fanfic gets posted online by this writer.) I’m just really happy that I found a spot to include this story; it’s one of the few new ObiYuki related fanfics on fanfiction, so I don’t think many people have read it. And it’s one of the best that I’ve read for them. https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13687412/1/Bittersweet-Heart Since I am a major ZenYuki shipper as well as ObiYuki shipper, I don’t know if I should include this as the canon divergent fic, but I absolutely love so many scenes in it. Fragments by happybubbles is what I initially put for Canon Divergence, so most of the description will express that, but I’m going to say that it’s a story that that made me Weep Real Tears. As a quick explanation, I don’t care for ZenYuki breakup fics for the most part, but I love this one. (And I read way too many of them to complain too much, I guess. I still read them, because I love ObiYuki about as much as I love ZenYuki, and the breakup fics obviously can be incredible, like the part in Fragments where the breakup happens.) (I really hope that I explained this right, because I know obviously this type of canon divergence is popular and really well loved, so I know that those AUs are good in a lot of ways. I’ve read many of them, with varying levels of interest, and I don’t know how to explain it, because I’m not trying to knock an AU.) This is where shipping ZenYuki makes it hard sometimes to ship ObiYuki, plus my love of Zen often gets in the way, and it pains me pretty bad to read breakups for Zen and Shirayuki. So, this particular story is the breakup scene, I remember, where Shirayuki broke up with Zen, and she’s still dealing with the emotional fallout of it. She’s not numb, and though she feels correct in breaking up with Zen, it hurts like she wouldn’t believe. And seeing Shirayuki in so much pain, while dealing with a ZenYuki breakup to boot, really hurts me. I cried alongside her, and Obi takes the time to comfort her and spend time with her. Everyone else that day gives Obi the turnaround and won’t explain what happened to Shirayuki, because Obi hasn’t seen her. Just, this scene hurts me so much. (I love the ObiYuki developed in the story, and Zen was written pretty well from what I remember, so it’s definitely worth a read.) Also, I’m in the camp with people that only ship ZenYuki, as in I think if canon broke up ZenYuki, I’d be broken, even if it established ObiYuki or RajiYuki or something else I ship or am partial too. This is the only clarification that I have that makes me wonder if ZenYuki is my true OTP. I have a tendency of reading a ton of ObiYuki fanfics, because that’s my go to for ObiYuki, especially AUs. I love AUs a ton, regardless, but ObiYuki AUs hold an extra special place in my heart. (My favorite ObiYuki AU, is the Obi meets Shirayuki first ones; they are all so different and so, so good!) (Also, if anyone knows the name or author of the ObiYuki story, where Obi consumes poison and almost dies, that one made me cry as well and is also really good!) I remember so many of the scenes and often forget that they are all in the same story. (I loved the parents day chapter, where Ryuu cooked for Obi and Shirayuki. I adore the first chapter of the fic, where Obi’s caught napping.) (It diverges from canon through ZenYuki breaking up, by the way.) There are probably other scenes within it as well that I absolutely adore. I’ve either read all of the chapters or most of them, even though it goes way further through canon than I’m currently at. I just love the story, and all the beautiful scenes that Bubbles writes, that I couldn’t just not read more. https://archiveofourown.org/works/8031781/chapters/18392416 For Favorite Trope, even though it’s probably not my favorite trope, just a trope led fanfic that is really, really good, it’s the Harry Potter AU, I talked about up above! I finally found it, and realized I could stick it here! Welcome to Hogwarts, the School of Social Anxiety and Crushing Expectations (and also Highly Illegal Soul Bond Spells) by Hymn. I’ve never been a fan of Harry Potter, but somehow this story sucked me in from the get go, and I really love the kind of slow burn ObiYuki in it, the longing for the other that they are pretty sure is either from the spell or unrequited, despite being requited, and all of the trying to balance school life with being accidentally soul bonded together, and just even the background references to ZenYuki are really good. The scenes within the story are absolutely adorable to a bit awkward for Obi and Shirayuki, and I think I read this oneshot at least five times so far. Mostly from the original Tumblr post, before I discovered that it was on AO3. Since then, I’ve read it on AO3. I have no idea how this story has gripped me so much, but it has. It is a hundred percent worth your time. You really should read it. (It’s inspired off of the Accidental Soul Bond Trope, which led to the amazing Star Wars AU by someone else, a lovely Soul Bond focused AU that is also really good, and I can’t remember what else. Maybe I do have a soft spot for this particular trope that I never really knew about before discovering the older event that they were written for.) https://archiveofourown.org/works/18772360/chapters/44535142 I know this is technically not a fight scene, but for Action-Packed Fight Scene, I’m going to choose the car chase scene in At Her Not-So-Secret Service by infinitelystrangemachine_old. I don’t read a lot of action packed stories in general, but I definitely don’t read many action packed stories for ANS. (And I’m pretty sure if I named any myriad of Chuck fanfics, that wouldn’t count. Shh…) So, I’m sticking with this story, because it came to mind when I remember action packed scenes, and the writing here is brilliant. (I obviously love the car chase scene and the aftermath of that, where Obi’s sitting in the car with her.) There’s a touch of humor every now and again, and the writing style, itself, is very beautiful. I really, really hope that this story gets updated some time in the future. There’s something about a Modern AU, Bodyguard AU, for ObiYuki that is so good! (Or any Modern AU Bodyguard fics in general, because there’s one for Chuck that is so, so good. I know I should just talk about ANS here, but oh, my gosh, I seem to really like Bodyguard AUs lately. Shh…) So, even though there’s no fight scene here, and there’s no attack or even portrayal of her kidnapping prior, At Her Not-So-Secret Service is really, really good. (I really like how easily Obi seems to get along with everyone Shirayuki knows, the description in chapter one of the difference between Zen and Izana talking to Obi, the balister scene, which should sort of count as an action scene too. Either way, the writing here is really good and the scenes are very memorable.) (I think about the car chase the most, followed by the balister scene the second most.) (I had to look up this story just to find it again for this. It’s so good!) It’s a lovely story to read, with a lot of action-y tension, some complicated feelings, and a great mixture of emotion. Also, the humor is pretty great too! So, it’s well worth a read. https://archiveofourown.org/works/9837023/chapters/22080446 For my new Canon Divergent fic, I’m going to include Yours, Truly by Eclectic80. It’s canon divergent also due to a ZenYuki breakup, as well as a pen pal correspondence. I love the pen pal basis of it, Shirayuki and Obi not knowing who they are writing to, the whole slowly falling in love and coming to understand each other better through it. The picnic date thing, just the whole premise of the fic is so good. It’s an outstanding ObiYuki fic, and I’m absolutely in love with the idea of pen pals in fanfics, which this is the first that I’ve seen of pen pals within fanfics, I think, but it’s so good. The comfortable anonymity, that draws them closer, the hint of budding feelings, the advice Obi gives, or ideas he shares. The fact that they both know that the other is similar to someone they know, but are pretty positive that it can’t be the other. It’s a blast to read and so, so much fun! I highly recommend it. https://archiveofourown.org/works/21943480/chapters/52370371 Oh, my gosh! I found the poison story! It’s also the story with the kiss scene that comes to mind for me and so many others. Okay, for Steamiest Kiss, I’m going to go with And That’s The Reason We Need Lips So Much by Sabraeal. Okay, this story is absolutely amazing on so many levels. The almost death scene for Obi is so painful to read, and I cried pretty much from the very beginning of this fic, despite not knowing who several of the characters are, whoops. I’m still terribly behind in the manga, but the plot was so good, the writing was beautiful, and I loved it. Also, I loved the teasing and playfulness that goes on when Obi retells the story of Shirayuki saving his life, and of course, the way that Shirayuki gets him back for that. I love the silliness of the first time that he tells the story, where Zen, Mitsuhide, and Kiki are his main audience. It’s silly, and sounds so fairy tale-esque and romantic, that Obi’s surprised me, and it fits so well! Then, there’s the way Kiki joins in the banter. (She’s great in general!) The way Mitsuhide reacts and of course Zen’s silence. Then, there’s the later on, Shirayuki getting Obi back, Obi being unable to handle the teasing, and the loss of his good reputation, the way she gives in and finally asks him to kiss her. The way the whole kiss goes. Ryuu showing up, after having dealt with two other people refusing to work. (That decided kissing was better than work, much to Ryuu’s disappointment.) Ryuu’s support of Obi and Shirayuki; I feel so bad for Ryuu here, and yet, I’m pretty sure that when I finally get far enough in the manga to meet the other two characters caught kissing, I think I’ll ship them, though I’m not positive yet. The way they restore Obi’s reputation and the applause that they’re met with. It’s funny, full of banter, great characterization, and so much more! I just love this story, and I’m so glad that I managed to refind it. (I’d forgotten that all of these amazing moments were in one fic. Sabraeal wrote this absolutely amazingly!) Please do go read it! I’m positive that it’s one of my favorite oneshots. https://archiveofourown.org/works/8705884 I don’t know if MitsuKiki counts as enough of a rarepair, but there are not a lot of fics out there for them, so I’m including this here. For Rare Pair, The Five Stages Of Partnership by geneee. It was the first MitsuKiki story to come to mind for me by the way, and I love this side pairing so much. And this story does a very lovely job of expressing Kiki’s feelings and going through the years, starting with when she first met Mitsuhide and carrying on throughout all of the time getting to know him. (Aww, I could have counted it in Canon Compliant as well, but oh well.) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12365055/1/The-Five-Stages-of-Partnership I probably should flip this and the Rare Pair slot, but I’m not going to. This one is a gem of a story as well; it’s a beautiful MitsuKiki story told from Mitsuhide’s perspective. (I was going to include a different MitsuKiki story by this same author, but I seen the summary for this one and remembered being blown away by it, so I took the time to reread it just now.) Silver by fiesa is the story I picked for Canon Compliant. It can take place in a few different spots in canon, but it really doesn’t sway the story into canon divergence. It’s a beautiful, very poetic MitsuKiki story, that captures Mitsuhide’s feelings beautifully, both towards Kiki and swordfighting in general. It’s an absolutely gorgeous fic. (It’s also just seven words over one thousand.) You really should read this story by fiesa; it’s one of my favorites by this particular writer and one of my favorite MitsuKiki stories. Also, check out more by fiesa; fiesa’s an absolutely incredible MitsuKiki writer! Starlines by infinitelystrangemachine_old. So, this Star Wars AU absolutely blew me away, the first time that I stumbled upon it. It’s beautiful, and it ties back into the accidental soul bond trope, and I actually did ask people who know Star Wars way better than me, if this was possible within Star Wars, and yes, yes, it is! Shirayuki and Obi end up soul bonded and see each other randomly in places where technically the other one isn’t. Like a personalized hologram, I guess, since only they see each other. The first time they see each other is awkward for them both, and they don’t initially know what’s going on. (It’s great! Plus, they are on different sides of the war.) So, slowly they become friends and fall in love. It’s a premise I hadn’t seen before, and had me asking various Star Wars inspired questions, since it is so good! 1. What was your first fic and could you stand to reread it today?

Based on the first one that’s on my surviving ffnet, it was dramione and no I could not stand reading it today for certain reasons I don’t want to discuss.

2. What’s your most recent fic and how far do you think you’ve come?

My most recent is The Sn Sets deals with grief and mourning after a canonical character death which is not something I write often. I think the emotions in it could have been better but I’m still satisfied with how it turned out. I think I’m at a place in my writing where I can attempt fics with that kind of emotional level.

3. In your opinion, what’s your best fic?

I have no opinion on this but my best friend and brother say “Covered in my Art”

4. In your opinion and without looking at any numbers, what’s your most popular fic?

Well, I only have 2 actual popular fics so I easily remember them. My most popular is my victuuri post-episode 7 kiss fic. I posted it just a couple of days after that episode aired so naturally it shot up.

5. Is there any fic that makes you super happy to reread and remember you wrote that?

I hardly reread my fics. I just can’t bring myself to do it. But one that I’m happy I wrote is

My Star Wars Mummy AU. It’s been almost a year now and I still have all my notes and outline for it. I just need motivation.....

Nope. I’m picky about what I write about and it has to be something I’m really into in order for me to watch it.

10. Have you ever written for a fandom without reading other fanfic for it?

I’m picky for what I read as well so if I’m writing for it, I’m most likely reading it as well.

11. Have you ever written a fic for a concept you know someone else has done before? How did it impact your writing process or feelings after posting?

Well there’s always writing popular tropes that everyone does but what comes to mind first is my Mummy AU. It was my idea first but someone got inspired by my editset I made of it and before I could post my first chapter of the story, someone else did it. They finished the fic before I could get my done and so it made me lose interest in continuing mine even if there were enough differences between ours.

12. Have you ever written a fic and decided never to publish it? Why?

I’ll have a bunch of ideas I start and never finish for various reasons. But I pretty much publish everything I write.

13. What’s the biggest change between your style when you started in fandom and today?

Besides the fact that I don’t suck as much as I did 13 years ago? I’m still working on it but I feel like I’m able to set a scene better with description and narration has gotten better.

14. What’s the biggest change in your taste between when you started in fandom and today?

Don’t know if this answers the question but I guess sticking to what I like and not conforming to the popular ideas of how certain characters/ships should be written.

15. Have you ever purposefully written one fandom/fic idea over another because you knew it’d be more popular?

16. Have you ever stopped writing a fic/for a fandom because it wasn’t receiving enough attention?

That might be one reason I stopped writing Marvel fics

17. In your opinion, what’s your most overrated fic?

Honestly, “Closer”. Don’t get me wrong, I really like the fic even if I haven’t read it since I posted it, but I don’t know if it’s good for all the kits and kudos it’s gotten.

18. What’s your most underrated fic?

Any femslash or polyship fic or rarepair fic

19. If you had to pick one fic/scene/chapter of your work to describe your entire portfolio to a stranger, which would you pick?

Oh shit um....

20. Have/Would you ever rewrite a fic? If yes, would you take the original down?

I have considered it for two Merlin fics and I would do it in a heartbeat if I could but since they’re part of big bangs I can’t.

21. If someone starts kudosing and commenting your fics in a spree and has a few works of their own, would you go look through theirs?

Yeah I sometimes do

22. Has there ever been anyone who’s made you freak out because they read your work and followed/favorited/reviewed?

People would actually have to read my works first. I just get excited to have anyone reading my stuff tbh

23. What’s the nicest review you’ve ever gotten?

Most are on my “Not ‘He’” fic with readers sharing their experiences with me in relation to my fic. It was an amazing feeling to see that my fic connected with people on such a personal level like that.

24. What’s the meanest review you’ve ever gotten? Do you think the reviewer intended it?

I’ve gotten some kind of rude ones that were too pushy for updates but one that sticks out was just someone going off on their own rant about gender identities on the above mentioned fic. I don’t think they intended to come off as bad as it sounded but it wasn’t fun to read nonetheless.

25. What constructive criticism, however well-meaning, always makes you feel bad when you see it in a review?

Mostly dealing with simple grammar mistakes because that’s stuff I should know but still always forget.

26. What aspect of your writing do you most enjoy to see praised?

Characterization because no one wants to read a fic where the characters are so ooc it takes them out of it. So being able to capture the character, especially in an AU, is the best thing to hear.

27. If you could only ever write crossovers or single-fandom fics ever again, which would you pick?

Single fandom fics. I don’t really do crossovers.

28. If you could only ever write for a single crossover or a single fandom again, which would you pick?

Yuri!!! on Ice. I honestly have plenty of ideas to keep me going.

29. Does the division of your writing across fandoms line up with your reading? What’s the biggest discrepancy?

30. Do you continue to write for a fandom after you’ve moved on or do you focus solely on the new one?

If you looked at my AO3 chronologically, you will see where I stop and start a new fandom. But there are some fandoms I will write at the same time. But there will be a focus on the new one.

31. Who’s the one character you’ve just never managed to get perfectly right?

I feel like it’s Clint Barton despite how much I love him. I think it’s because of that I feel like I can’t write him well.

32. Who’s the one character who shines without you even trying?

I feel like I have Yuri Plisetsky down pretty well.

33. Is there any particular character whose scenes always wind up being longer/more frequent than you expected? Does the quality hold up?

It really depends on the fic and what I’m writing. Some characters may steal the scene but it usually turns out well.

34. Was there any fic that you wrote that really surprised you in the fandom reaction? Was it just by the numbers or did they take it an entirely different way?

I was surprised to see so many people interested in “Covered in my Art”. AUs can be hard to sell and while it’s not the most popular tattoo shop au, it still got a better response than expected.

35. Have you ever written a ship into a fic without meaning to?

I accidentally wrote past Yuuri/Phichit in my recent Phichit/Leo/Guang-Hong fic. I guess that hc is so set in my mind I can’t help but write it lol

36. Have you ever sincerely written a ship you do not support into a fic?

Yes but it was a commission fic so I kinda had to

37. Have you ever purposefully bashed a character/ship in a fic?

Regrettably in the past when I was younger and didn’t know better. But I have learned from that.

38. Have you ever purposefully written something you know your readers would find uncomfortable/would not enjoy? If yes, why?

Besides like injuries, not really.

I know I can count on like 3 people to read my fics and they’re the best peeps ever.

I do now after going so many years hardly writing anything. I still feel like I could do more.

41. If you cross-post your fics on multiple sites, do you have a favorite? Are there certain fics you would only post on certain site?

I mostly post on AO3 but I’m slowly adding my fics back to ffnet just to have them hosted in two places. I definitely prefer AO3 because I love the tagging system.

42. How many views has your most popular fic gotten?

7k and I know it’ll be the only one

less than 50

44. Do you follow/favorite/kudos/comment/review more stories than you have received?

Yes because I try to kudos and comment on anything I read that I liked.

45. If you had to call yourself an author of a single genre (besides fanfic) what label would you give yourself?

Fluff. It’s a genre now.

46. Do you consider yourself a diverse author?

I would like to be but probably not.

47. If someone you know in real life who isn’t involved in fandoms asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?

No. While I have no problem telling people I write fanfic now, I don’t want them reading my writing.

48. Does anyone you know from outside of fandom know you write fanfic? Are they involved in the same fandom too?

Not really. I don’t just walk around telling everyone I write it. It still has to be brought up and I feel comfortable telling them.

49. Has anyone in your life ever read your fanfic just because you wrote it?

Yes because I make my best friend read it.

50. Has writing fanfic had a significant impact on your life? Would you say it’s entirely positive?

I’ve literally been writing fanfic for half my life now so it’s definitely had a significant impact on me. For the most part it has been positive. It’s given me a way to express myself and make my voice be heard. There have been times it stresses me out and I feel anxious about it but I wouldn’t stop writing because of that.
