Neven Been Kissed - Timothy Janovsky

i really enjoyed this one, and i certainly did not expect to tear up while reading it but i sure did. there are a few places where you notice that this is the author’s debut novel but imo the characters make up for it mateo beloved

classic or retelling of one

Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen

i finally got around to reading/finishing this one! took me long enough i suppose, but i don’t think i need to say much about this apart from i liked it and i am positively surprised by how close the movie adaptation is to the book

nonlinear timeline

This Is How You Lose the Time War - Max Gladstone, Amal El-Mohtar

the writing is just pure poetry and i absolutely adored the letters at the end of the chapters. i cannot emphasise enough that i find the writing really beautiful - 10/10 would read again

under 300 pages

Aldri, aldri, aldri - Linn Strømsborg (Norwegian edition)

finally, the first norwegian book i finished! it’s about a woman in her 30s who doesn’t want children, expectations of family, friends, and society, and how she handles all of that (somewhat). i felt very seen during this, and i really enjoyed reading it

Empiezo a ver una nueva seria en Netflix. Se llama Velvet y trata de una galeria en Madrid. Hay muchos problmas y muchao drama - con deudas, entre novios, entre madrastra y hijastro. Una carta del dueño hace juega un papel fundamental en la seria, porque su mujer - la madrastra del peotagonisto - no se la ha dado reenviarlo a su hijo.

Hace un año que estuve en la biblioteca de mi universidad. La me falta un poco. La me echo un poco de menos. Estudiar en un lugar tranquilo me parece mas mucho mejor que estudiar en casa dónde no puedo oír los vecinos estan oíble todos los días. Ni siquiera estan tranqulios por la noche, muchas veces veen películas con volumen muy alto. Claro que dormio duermo menos ahora.

July 7th: What did you do during the summer when you were a young child?

Lots of time spent at the pool, with an au pair, my mom and my siblings, and then one week at the beach or camping in the mountains, usually. When I was a teen, I also started going to my uncle's house at the north of Spain, where we would go sailing for a week or so. And reading, so much reading.

July 8th: What’s your happiest summer memory from your childhood?

This is a hard one because I don't have many childhood memories, but I generally remember having an afternoon snack at the pool lawn, on a round towel where all my siblings and I sat with the food on the middle and shared the food after playing in the water.

These days:

I eat chocolate, I listen to my body, I listen to my soul and so I smile easy, I fall in love easy, then I cry easy, but I don't hurt easy, because these days I'm learning my love can be unconditional, it can be freeing, I've learnt that because I've experienced it for myself, I'm learning life is beautiful, pain and all, I'm learning I'm worth all the good things in the universe and more, I'm learning that my mind can be still, I'm learning that sleep comes easy when I've given everything I could to my day, I'm understanding that sometimes my everything is doing the bare minimum, because on somedays you just can't. I'm learning that everyday is a new opportunity to reinvent myself, a new life entirely, I'm learning that I'm worth something, that I have a destiny to fulfill and so I understand that today, right now, this is exactly where I need to be. Everything is gonna be fine, everything is gonna work out. Trust the process, trust yourself <3

Apparently it has really been 16 weeks since I last posted? Oops? Anyway, a new study area was opened at my school and on the weekends it’s really nice to sit and work there because it’s much less frequented then compared to during the week.

Pro of Norwegian winter: SNOW!! Con of Norwegian winter (this one in specific, it wasn’t that bad last year): lots of ice on the sidewalks once the snow starts melting

After more than two months without classes and exams, it is only one more week until my first class starts up! I’m equal parts excited and weary - I kind of want to take more time to read (that reading challenge has not been working well until very recently, whoops) and sit outside in the sun (well, if we wouldn’t have prime autumn weather maybe I would).

Please also great my new plant friend! She’s such a beauty and brings in a little more colour. I can now definitely see myself becoming a plant mum once (1) I’m out of student housing and (2) have a long-term plan for where I’ll live after I graduate.

I hope your summer has been going well and that you’re not too stressed by upcoming exams or the beginning of the new academic year <3 🌸
