hello! thank you so much for all your hard work and collection. my grandmother and family are ethnically polish but emigrated to the US from Vilnius during the wilno vovoideship. do you know anything about the cultural dress/practices of poles from areas in what is now Lithuania? thanks for your time!

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find much information about the customs of Polish minority in Wilno voivodeship. Lists of Polish folk costumes generally tend to only present clothes from regions falling within present-day Poland. I noticed that Polish Costumes faced the same problem before.

I found some pictures of a Polish family from Wilno voivodeship which yielded results similar to what Polish Costumes presented:

Note: I know it would be tempting to assume the pictures in the second article represent the clothing of Poles in Lithuania but that’s not necessarily the case… for example the folk costume on the cover is strój opoczyński worn by dancers from Starachowice. I believe I glimpsed a strój łowicki too. I wasn’t able to identify all the costumes pictured.

I wanted to redo an art challenge from a couple years ago where you drew your favourite character in traditional clothing from your country (I'm half Polish) and I noticed a lot of Slavic inspiration in Adrestia so I chose Edelgard!
