This has been a slow year for me due to health issues (my own and my family's health not doing so great was all the rage this year), but I still wanted to celebrate that I created fanworks. I love the escapism creating and engaging in fanworks gives me.

I'm still firmly in the Marvel fandom. I was hoping to dip my toe in the Stranger Things and Percy Jackson fandoms, but alas, life had other plans. Fingers crossed I can expand into other fandoms in 2024.

Flirting with college boys is a big no-no, but what’s the worst that could happen? It’s not like Tony’s going to take him home or anything.

Stony Loves Steve 2024

We’re back again to celebrate Steve’s birthday, July 4th, with Stony Loves Steve! This is a Steve/Tony gift exchange where participants create and receive Steve-centric fanworks.

There are plenty of wonderful creations based on Tony, and that’s awesome!. For this exchange, however, we’re choosing to focus on Steve. We hope to see more works exploring him and his side of his relationship with Tony across the Marvel multiverse, whether that relationship is slash or friendship.

I be don’t know if you ever said what’s your opinion on Raph for 03 of course.

I don't know if I've ever said it either, but he tends to be the star of a lot of my fanworks because he's my favourite turtle across all turtleverses, and I love him a lot <3

I love the soft squishy compassionate centre of him that he hides behind all the grumpy sass and tough guy persona.

I love seeing him perservere against his own vicious temper and personal demons, in spite of how visibly difficult that is for him.

I love how much attention he pays to his bros in combat and how he is often the one who takes protective or shielding action, and how this contradicts the image of him being an aggressive and reckless fighter (which can still also be true, especially when solo, but it's not ALL he's about).

I love the soft spot he has for kids and kitties and little old ladies <3

I love how his tightknit friendship with Casey gives him an understanding outlet for his anger that he could never find amongst his brothers and family, and after it is established, we never really see him lose it against the people he loves again.

I love how his anger is usually just the flare-up of all the emotions and passions that overtake him because he feels things so intensely, which is a direct contradition to this stony badass outer shell he tries to convey.

I love it when his facade crumbles sometimes (usually when family is hurt or missing) and we see the scared teen who just loves his family a whole lot and desperately wants them to be safe and okay.

I love how he lets himself get wound up so easily by Mikey and can be really mean in kind, but the second Mikey is hurt or in real danger his anger vanishes and so does any pretense that he doesn't care.

I love his relationship with Don probably the most, where Raph seems to have so much respect for him and looks out for his safety and wellbeing always. And Don, in kind, is mostly immune to Raph's irritability and that makes him a beloved safe space.

I love how his relationship with Leo, despite being so fractious at surface level, is so important to him, and how all his growth and restraint and stability falls apart when it's gone or damaged. I believe he is often so hard on Leo because he knows, deep down, what great things he is capable of, and somewhere along the line has absorbed the narrative that you must be challenged in order to rise to the occasion.

I could go on. Basically, I love him, your honour. Blorbo from my shows of all time.

What is Build-a-Bucky Bingo?

Very much like Build a Bear, you get to customize what your Bingo card will look like! You will get a list of prompts to choose from for each month. Each list will include a few of the following: AUs, NSFW/kinks, SFW prompts, quotes, places and general prompts open for interpretation.

RULES

This is an 18+ only event. All participants acknowledge that they are over the age of 18 by signing up.

Be kind. Any kind of hate (kink bashing/shaming, harassment, hate speech, toxic behavior, etc.) will not be tolerated at any point. There will be no warnings given and if proven to have exhibited any disagreeable behaviors, you will be removed from the event.

Tag your works accordingly. We expect explicit works, and that will contain squicks, triggers, etc.  We believe in Kinktomato here. YKINMKATOK (Your Kink Is Not My Kink (And That’s OK) but you are responsible for advising our readers what to expect.

Bucky Barnes (in any form) must be prominently featured in your fanwork - the main character, or part of the main ship/pairing of your fic/art/creation/etc.  For example, if you write a fic with Stony as the main pairing and Stucky as a side pairing, this would not be eligible for the BABB as it is not Bucky-focused. This event, as always, is open to any and all pairings as long as they involve our favorite murder muffin.

All works must be tagged for any Major Archive Warnings (Graphic Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death, Rape/Non-Con, Underage) that the work contains. If there are none, make sure to select No Archive Warnings Apply. Works tagged as Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings and works not tagged will not be shared.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I have more than one card?  BBE wants to promote as many low stress events as possible. It is recommended that you only have 1 card, as that is still 12 fills to complete. If you truly feel like you want a challenge and would like more than 1 card, please reach out to a mod or reach us at [email protected]. 

What if I sign up, but I miss a month? If you missed a month (ie - did not take a prompt or did not complete the fill), not to worry. You can still complete this fill, even if the month has passed. So long as you have finished all twelve prompts before the end of the event, it still counts!  

What kind of works can I submit? All works should be new content (ie - has not been previously posted).  New chapters to existing works are allowed. They must be tagged appropriately. Bucky Barnes in any form (Winter Soldier, Bucky Cap, etc.) must be the focus of your work.  ✵ FANFICTION: The minimum word count is 200 words, unless you are writing a drabble, which has to be 100 words exactly. ✵ FANART: Minimum a linked sketch ✵ MOODBOARDS: At least 3 images. ✵ PLAYLISTS: At least 10 songs and some sort of graphic.  ✵ REC LISTS: At least 5 works and some sort of graphic.  ✵ GIFSETS: At least 3 images.  ✵ CRAFT: Something you can photograph You can create as many works as you want for any of the prompts, but the minimum is only 1 fill each prompt you choose (event minimum: 12 fills).

Does this event require a masterpost? Yes. Because we do not require you to fill out a submission form for each fic, your masterpost acts as one big submission form and your badge claim(s). If you do not submit a masterpost, we cannot verify your fills.

FIC REC WEEK 14 – AUTHOR WEEK

AUTHOR SPOTLIGHT: Cluegirl

I love all of Cluegirl's voices for the Avengers – they're so funny, and the team family vibes just warm my heart. Cluegirl's writing is fantastic, and if you haven't already, you should go and read their entire AO3 catalogue, because everything in it is great!

Here's some of their work that I think you should check out:

Gladhand

Pairing: Gen Rating: G Words: 1,260 Tags: Injury, Team Feelings, Action

Summary: Steve Rogers has work to get done, and staying down is not on the schedule. The rest of the Avengers are not on board with that plan.

Reasons why I love it: Tony the Italian Grandma is hilarious, oh my god. I love how the team immediately swoops in to save Steve after he makes his blunder, the way they care for each other is so sweet. And Steve toughing shit out is as frustrating as it is admirable, which feels like it should be a tag line for his character. I love this fic, and I bet you will too!

Tea and No Sympathy

Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: M Words: 1,286 Tags: PWP, Masochist Tony, Misuse of Yoga

Summary: Tony needs to pass Gym class. Steve needs not to wring his neck while coaching his strength training. This is their compromise.

Reasons why I love it: I wouldn't wish having to work out with Steve on anyone, holy shit. Then again, the view might make the pain worth it. I love this one, it's sassy and fun and a perfect little pick-me-up. Give it a read if you haven't already!

Operation Extraction

Pairing: Gen Rating: G Words: 2,117 Tags: Humor, Team Loyalty, Morphine

Summary: Far be it from Tony Stark to educate SHIELD Medical on any particular details, but it just so happened that it was totally possible to make a stable boot cast out of common office supplies.

Reasons why I love it: Tony is so funny in this, holy shit. I could read the way Cluegirl writes him all day. And the rest of the Avengers nonchalantly foiling his plans is hilarious. I adore this fic, and I bet you will too, so I hope you give it a shot!

Stony Going

Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: E Words: 6,070 Tags: Sassy Steve, Clint's A Troll, Smut

Summary: Steve Rogers makes an awkward discovery on the internet. This does not work out at all the way Tony Stark expects it will.

Reasons why I love it: Three cheers for breaking the fourth wall with some good ol' fanfic-ception. I love Steve being more experienced than anyone thinks, and that bit about critiquing someone's fanworks made me nod along. Preach, girl, preach! This fic is amazing, and you should definitely read it!

Detour

Pairing: Steve/Bucky/Tony Rating: G Words: 2,447 Tags: Howard Stark's A+ Parenting, Recovery, Hurt/Comfort

Summary: A weak man knows the value of strength. A guilty man knows the value of forgiveness. Steve finds Bucky dredging the shadows of his past late one night, and rattling the bones of long-dead ghosts while Tony sleeps, unawares. But this time the terrible confession Bucky has to make isn't the one he's been braced to hear -- it's actually worse.

Reasons why I love it: Oh my god, I love this so much. Those last few sentences really tear at my heartstrings – one quote specifically, you'll know it when you see it. Because you SHOULD see it, please go and do that right now if you haven't. I bet you'll love this story just as much as I do.

The MTH mod team is proud to bring back Marvel Trumps Hate for a fifth run! Inspired by Stony Trumps Hate and Fandom Trumps Hate, our purpose is to encourage fandom unity while raising money for nonprofit organizations that work to protect civil rights, marginalized and oppressed communities, and the environment.

Our fandom-wide fundraiser auction raised $52,025 USD for charity with the help of 201 generous creators and hundreds of bidders last year. This year, we’re looking forward to raising just as much awareness and money for some Marvel-ous causes!

Creator sign-ups will open in one month’s time, on Sunday, September 18, 12 AM ET (Eastern Time). Creators may offer different types of works such as fics, art, edits, videos, beta services, crafts, and more for any character, ship, or universe in the Marvel multiverse.

Sign-ups will run until Saturday, October 1, 11:59 PM ET, which should give everyone plenty of time to think about what they’d like to offer, spread the word, and sign up as a creator!

There will be a preview week, from October 16 to October 22, during which potential bidders can peruse all the auctions and start building their list of fanworks to bid on. We will also use this time to make corrections to auction pages before bidding begins.

The 2022 MTH Auction Week will then run from October 23 to October 29. All auction times are in ET. If you’re in a different time zone, you can convert times here.

Around this time yesterday, you might have seen me reblog a post that was then deleted within two hours. It was an interest check for a Stony Bingo with an autumnal/winter theme with sign ups in August. Unfortunately, another mod reached out, and I realized there was a conflict in timing.

I still would like to start a Stony Bingo this summer or fall.

Thanks for helping me! I want what you all want! I want this to be an event in which creation of fanworks blossoms in a fun, relaxed environment.

Cap-IronMan Rec Week 2023

We're announcing the return of the annual Cap-IronMan Rec Week!

For those new to Rec Week, here is how it works: each day of Rec Week will have a post asking for fanwork recs based on a different theme. Recs can be for fic, art, or other Steve/Tony (or Steve & Tony) fanworks of any kind. At the end we’ll create a giant masterlist of all the recs that were posted for everyone's reading and viewing enjoyment. 🎉

PoliZ's WIP Update - 3 Apr 2024

Getting back to what I’d like to consider an average writing week, with most of my effort was focused on a single work.  I touched  4 fics (1 new work & 3 WIPs) for a total of  2330  words.  

On Ao3, I posted: 

 A Little Bit Carried Away - an omegaverse WinterIron meet cute/meet ugly fic. 

Shooting for the Moon -  a WinterHawk meet-ugly one shot that’s a POV remix of A Hairy Situation  

On Tumblr I posted: 

Amplification - A Steve POV ficlet where he reflects on the effects of Project Rebirth. 

I’m juggling  17 😬 active/semi-active WIPs with my current  deadline being the Post July Break Bingo, which ends in April, and the Alpha Bucky April event.  

See  below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc.  As always, feel free to send me   prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding  any of these projects  or any other WIPs I’ve got out there.   Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Stony AUniverse Bingo  [SAUB_R1] (ends 15 Feb)

Two fill on my  2x3 non-fandom-specific card - still working on  potential crossovers.

* A2 - "You knew?"  - matched this up with Chapter Three  of my Stony spyfic WIP -  Keeping All My Secrets Safe Tonight -  it’s coming in at 1079 words and after a bit more editing, should be posting this Friday.     

* B2 - Character’s personality is split into two different beings – I’ve never played with Bucky & the Soldier being two different people, but this seems like the perfect opportunity! Will see what might be a good crossover on one of my open cards.

*  C1 - Touch Starved – another good fit for a Bucky-centric fic. (Steve or Tony or Clint).

* C2 - “What are we?”  Pair up with  SRB C5 - Exes to Lovers ? 

Alpha Bucky April - [BBE_ABA] - (Ends 30 April) 

@buckybarnesevents   is running another fun event to encourage fanworks featuring Alpha!Bucky - any pairing in terms of characters and/or alignments.  Since I already have a couple of  Alpha!Bucky WIPs, am using this as a good reason to get some work in on them.   There’s also additional challenges that I plan to take on: 

* Breeding Kink/Baby Fever -  mpreg is a pretty major squick for me, but I think I might be able to make it work in combination with an April BaBB prompt (roleplay) for what looks to be Chapter Three of   A Bit Carried Away.

* Nesting - This will fit pretty well  into the next chapter of A Sugar-Coated Pill - where Bucky comforts Tony after the bad news he’s gotten and helps him plan what to do next.   It’s currently sitting at 177 words and will crossfill with my WIB Couch Cuddles square nicely.  

* Purring/Affection - This could (and quite possibly will) fit into either/both of the above fics, tbh. 

* Beta Character  - My BBC4 fic (see below) features beta!Tony,  and  aroace Natasha will be making an appearance in Chapter Two of  A Bit Carried Away, which is in draft form at 1219 words and will probably post on the 19th.

* Double Minimum Req - 1500 words for a chapter seems pretty do-able  - targeting my BBC4 fic (or at least its first chapter) to fill this challenge 

Bucky Barnes Connect Four - Alt Jun-iverse [BBC4_R2]  {Ends May 31 2024}

Another fun event from the good folks over at  @buckybarnesevents! You sign up for a single row card of four squares and the challenge is to see if you can combine any/all into a single Bucky-centric AU fanwork - although you can also create fanworks that are based on a single or combo of 2-3 squares if you want.  

The combo of prompts on my first card [Reality Show,  Omegaverse, Talent/Manager, Royalty] sparked an idea:  Alpha!Bucky as a prince in name only who gets talked into joining a reality show that is supposed to match him up with an omega… but there’s a twist!  Picked this back up and it’s sitting at 766  words so far.  Thinking the Alpha Bucky April event will be a good excuse to get at least a first chapter of this out there! 

Steve Rogers Bingo - Round 3 [SRB_R3] (ends  15 Jun 2024)

Fourteen  fills and no WIPs at the moment  - need to ponder other possible crossovers with my non-fandom cards & BaBB.  

* C5 - Exes to Lovers   see JBB “What are we?” above 

* E5 - Oversensitivity/Enhanced Senses - paired this up with last week’s Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF246 Pinprick] for  Amplification. A Steve POV ficlet where he reflects on the effects of Project Rebirth, it came in at 334 words and will post to Ao3 before the event  is over. 

Hawkeyes Bingo [HB_R2] {Ends TBD} 

Working on this  Tumblr event - got a 3x3 card and and am looking forward to creating more  Clint-centric content and trying my hand at a bit of  Kate Bishop fic as well!    

*A1 - Werewolf AU -  Posted  Shooting for the Moon  on Ao3 this morning  -  Werewolf!Bucky’s POV on the  second half of A Hairy Situation. It came in at 786  words. 

* A3 - Awkward Flirting – this might be a good entry into my first femslash fic with Kate/Yelena?    

C3 - "I've never been so humiliated in my life."  - filled this on Tumblr last Friday with A Shining Example.  Established WinterHawk where a training session goes embarrassingly wrong and  Clint gives Bucky a pep talk.   It crossed over with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF243 Glitter and Blues] and will get posted on Ao3 before this event ends.  

Build-A-Bucky Bingo [BaBB_R1] {Ends Oct 2024}

Another fun year-long  event from the folks at  @buckybarnesevents!  Each month there’s a list of prompts and you choose (at least) one  each month for your card!

* March: Rimming  - belatedly filling this with Chapter Two of A Little Bit Carried Away -  as part of some spicy sexting between Alpha!Bucky and Omega!Tony.  This will probably post on the 17th or 19th.

* April: Roleplay -  will be filling this with Chapter Three of A Little Bit Carried Away  where Bucky will be playing a role to save Tony from some obnoxious alphas at a reception; potential crossfill with  WIB  A/B/O: Mates and Alpha Bucky April Breeding Kink prompts…    

*April: Pet Names - this may also get filled with Chapter Three of A Little Bit Carried Away  as part of the roleplaying….  

WinterIron Bingo Round 2  [WIB_R2] {Ends 16 Dec 2024}

* Iron Soldier (One Bingo, One Fill) - looking at combining my Column B prompts: Matchmaker, Bucky Riding Tony, Stark Gala, Inside Joke and Threesome.  Still working on a plot - if you have any suggestions/want-to-sees - let me know! 

*I4 - SHIELD HQ - combined this with last week’s Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF245 You Never Cared] and wrote Fathers Don’t Know Best  -  No Power AU with Bucky working as an analyst at SHIELD who stumbles across a late night visitor to the lobby.  It’s coming on at 407 words and will get posted to Ao3 before the event ends.  

* N1 - Hair Pulling Kink -  thanks to a fun prompt from @scottx  - I filled this square with Untangling Their Attraction - where Tony’s offer of assistance leads to mutual kink discovery (not as racy as it might sound).  It’s coming in at 544 words and will post to Ao3 before this event is over. 

* N4 - A/B/O: Mates - see BaBB Roleplay above 

* N5 - "I'm here for you."  - Possibly the next chapter of  Lady Natasha’s Consort and Lord Steve’s Companion ?

WIP Wednesday

The delightful @noxnthea tagged me in this last WIP Wednesday, thank you 😊💜

I have two fic WIPs on the go with a decent chunk of words down.

I’m also working on three bits of art for the DC/Marvel Crossover Fanworks Event and having so much fun! If you want to join I think there’s still plenty up for grabs. It’s very low pressure and just about showing crossover works some love ❤️ you can create playlists, moodboards, art, remixes, podfics…

Fic WIP snippets:

1) Next instalment in the Sunrise on the East Side series. This one is a case fic with identity reveal, and a focus on Tim and MJ’s characters. I’m thinking it’ll be multi-chapter and I want to write it before I post it because I know how bad my ADHD brain is about get the exact feedback it wants to maintain motivation, so I want to just be able to organise a schedule to share something I’m already proud of.

“Tim? Look I need to ask a favour, a big one -”

Tim could hear a rasp in MJ’s breath over the crackling line, footsteps echoing at a run.

“- Peter’s, Peter’s missing. And Tony’s - I don’t fucking know where Tony is except never around when I need him to be -”

A door slammed in the background as Tim’s grip tightened on the phone. Peter was missing? It had to be coincidence - the vigilante disappearances were mounting, but for a civilian to vanish in the same window of time…

“You said - shit - you said you used to take pictures of Batman? In Gotham? Can you show me where you saw him? I know this sounds crazy, but Peter needs help.”

Her usually placid voice cracked at the end and Tim frowned.

“And you were thinking of, what, asking him nicely?” A vision of Bruce’s stony expression and clenched jaw flashed across his mind.

MJ’s tone was utterly dangerous as she hissed her reply.

“I’m asking nothing. I’ll climb every rooftop in Gotham if I have to, I’ll trample through every case. I’m not leaving until he helps - it’s Peter.”

2) Jason / Bucky fic set just after CA:TWS and just as Jason is arriving back in Gotham from the League. It’s an exploration of two different responses to trauma, what they can learn from each other, and what to learn accept about themselves. Unreliable narrators galore. Not gonna lie I’m kinda hurting my own feelings with this one.

He gestured wildly at where Bruce stood, cape heavy, mouth an impassive line.

“He should have burned the Batman down just for the chance to scatter the Joker’s ashes over Gotham. Why, why is he still standing there?! Where is the rage? Where is the grief? Where is my dad?”

“Jason…”

Bruce moved for the first time since Bucky’s entrance, stepping towards Jason. One arm lifted as though reaching out, but his fingers curled limply away. Always the push and pull, always conditional. Jason raised the gun again, roughly scrubbing rain from his eyes as he took aim. Before he could drop his hand from his face, Bucky slid in front of the barrel.

“Move.”

Bucky held Jason’s gaze, eyes soft even in the eerie light. His shoulders didn’t so much as twitch as Jason nudged the gun forwards, pressing against his thin t-shirt - all that was covering Bucky’s vulnerable chest.

“Bucky, move. Don’t think I won’t do this.”

He flicked the safety catch. Bucky had advanced healing, he could probably survive a gunshot. It would hurt, but it would be worth it, wouldn’t it? He could feel the handle pulse with a heartbeat - from Bucky or from his own palm, what did it matter. Jason’s finger moved to the trigger.
