Reuben (Experiment 625) will finally become a Funko Pop!
Some of you dedicated Lilo & Stitch fans out there may have already heard the news today, but Funko has announced as part of their Funko Fair 2023 event that Experiment 625, a.k.a. Reuben, will finally get a Funko Pop! figure!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In time for the 20th anniversary year of Stitch! The Movie and the debut Lilo & Stitch: The Series, the beloved lazy sandwich boy's figure happily holds—what else?—a bitten-into grilled cheese sandwich. ("Ahh! Grilled cheese!")
He will be available as a Books-A-Million exclusive in the United States. His figure, which can be pre-ordered over here, is already trending as a top seller on the Books-A-Million website.

The figure also has a page on the Funko Europe website, which shows that he will be available for £‌15 in the UK or €‌17 in most European countries.
This little news has certainly been exciting for the Lilo & Stitch fandom. Hopefully, this will break the ongoing trend of the franchise's hyperfixation on Stitch and lead to more official merch of the rest of his 'ohana, especially his cousins.

DTVA/DTS TAGTEAM TWEET-ATHON MOVIE #46: STITCH! THE MOVIE (2003)
Wow, that was actually like, the exact opposite of Milo’s Return. That was just delightful!
So, this was the pilot for the Lilo and Stitch TV Series, which I remember being pretty good. If this movie was any indication, then my memory was right.
The animation is actually really good. It’s nowhere near as good as the original, but for a DTVA show from 2003, it looks pretty damn good. They get pretty dynamic with the little CGI they use.
The characters are still pretty fun too. They got pretty much all of the voice actors from the movie back, so they still feel just like they used to.
Even the new villain is funny. Someone really said “Okay, the villain is a short German gerbil in a cape”, and the rest of the crew went along no questions asked.
The plot of this show is pretty much Pokemon mixed with Danny Phantom if that makes sense. They go around trying to find the other experiments and then try to find a new job for them.
The two experiments we see in this movie are Electric Stitch and Sandwich Stitch, and they’re ok I guess. They’re really just variations on Stitch, but they don’t seem overly lazy in the way their designed.
But the movie’s still fun in the end. It’s got some really good jokes too. I particularly like the one with the phonebook. It’s the exact sort of stupid humor I enjoy.
Stitch may not be anywhere near up to the level of the original movie, but it’s still fun and engaging enough to be worth a watch. It certainly made up for the trainwreck that was Milo’s Return though.
8.5/10: Sandwich Stitch looks out for one guy...Sandwich Stitch!

This is my family. I found it, all on my own. It's little, and broken, but still good. Yeah, still good.

Happy 20th anniversary to Stitch! The Movie! 👽⚡
This direct-to-video film was released on August 26, 2003, and it marked the beginning where Lilo & Stitch truly became a media franchise (as in, separate from all those early tie-ins when the first film came out). Being the canonical introduction to Jumba's first 625 genetic experiments (a.k.a. Stitch's "cousins"), even though we only meet two of them and see a few more at the end, the film led to Lilo & Stitch: The Series just weeks later.
Fans were also introduced to the true overarching villain of the franchise, Dr. Jacques von Hämsterviel, who would hire the then-forcibly retired Captain Gantu to get the experiments for him. But the two would underestimate the power of 'ohana, as Lilo and Stitch would end up taming, naming, and rehabilitating all the other experiments over the years, beginning in this film with Experiment 221, which Lilo would name "Sparky". The yellow electrifying experiment may have a very unusual design but he would go on to become a fan favorite thanks to this film. It was also the animated debut of Experiment 625, a character from the decanonized Disney Adventures prequel comics who would become a regular throughout the run of the subsequent show thanks to him becoming Gantu's lazy sandwich-loving sidekick. In fact, 625, who would later be named "Reuben", has also become beloved in his own right, even as he would be overshadowed by both his immediate successor and predecessor experiments.
Here's both the teaser trailer for the film from the original Lilo & Stitch DVD and VHS tape and the official trailer released months later!
