Stitch Attacks Snacks in a new merchandise collection
Remember Stitch's merchandise collection back in 2021 (and early 2022) when he "crashed" Disney Animation's films? Well, now he's getting a new collection of merch, and this time, it's focusing on his love of food.
Tumblr media
shopDisney sent out a Stitch-focused marketing email today to announce Stitch Attacks Snacks, a new collection of plush toys and pins of Stitch.
Tumblr media
While the mischievous alien is known for many things, one thing that dedicated Stitch fans know about him is his massive appetite, so Disney's new merchandise collection for 2024 shows him enjoying a treat that they usually sell in the Disney Parks.
Tumblr media
Based on the promo photo of the first series in this twelve-part collection, Stitch will be wearing a different aloha shirt patterned with the snack he's enjoying. The Stitch plush is also joined by a set of three pins featuring him, Angel, and the foodstuff of focus on a card modeled after the aloha shirt the two experiments are wearing. It's currently unclear if Stitch will always be joined by Angel for the pins or if he will be accompanied by a different Lilo & Stitch character for each series.
Tumblr media
In North America, a new series will be released on the second Tuesday of each month of 2024 at 8 AM Pacific Time (11 AM Eastern Time). shopDisney UK has yet to announce when they will release a new series for the European market. As seen in the above image, the following foods will be:
Pretzel
Popcorn
Macron
Lollipop
Shake
Do(ugh)nut
Snow cone (or shave ice)
Pineapple whip (Dole Whip)
Candy apple
Churro
Gingerbread man
Hot cocoa
It's also likely that the series will receive a special pin binder like with Stitch Crashes Disney. Anyhow, be ready to chow down with Stitch come January!

Happy (belated) anniversary to Lilo & Stitch: The Series and Stitch!
Tumblr media
Yes, I know that the twentieth anniversary of the premiere of Lilo & Stitch: The Series (on ABC Kids) was on September 20th. I was sick back then, though. So, I'm celebrating it today on the anniversary of its Disney Channel premiere instead.
Lilo & Stitch: The Series continued our beloved titular human-alien duo's adventures on their home island of Kaua'i after the first film and the show's pilot film Stitch! The Movie. Throughout the course of 65 episodes over two seasons that aired within almost three years (September 2003 to June/July 2006), they went around the island (and occasionally elsewhere) to find, capture, and rehabilitate Jumba's other genetic experiments by giving them a place where they truly belonged. They also dealt with the ex-Captain Gantu, now working for Jumba's ex-partner Dr. Jacques von Hämsterviel, as they hunted down the experiments.
While Lilo & Stitch creator Chris Sanders, who reprised his voice role as Stitch in the show (as did almost all of the original film's voice cast reprising their roles), never really intended for his film to go anywhere beyond the one film he made, Lilo & Stitch: The Series has left a lasting impact with Lilo & Stitch fans everywhere that can still be seen to this day. Dr. Hämsterviel and his Python-esque Frenchman-sounding voice became recognizable while giving the franchise a proper villain. Gantu was fleshed out more as a character instead of just being a brute enforcer for someone else, especially through his interactions with the memorably lazy, wisecracking, sandwich-loving, reluctant sidekick Experiment 625, who we know today as Reuben. The second season did crossovers with other Disney properties before it was cool, with the casts of Kim Possible, American Dragon: Jake Long, The Proud Family, and Recess each joining our duo's 'ohana for an episode. Then there are the genetic experiments themselves, with their fun designs and wide and sometimes wacky abilities making a lasting impression on those who enjoyed seeing Stitch and his mischief while expanding on the (admittedly crazy and inconsistent) lore of Lilo & Stitch's universe. One of them, X-619/Splodyhead, even made a cameo in a Walt Disney Animation Studios film in Big Hero 6, while another, X-221/Sparky, who debuted in Stitch! The Movie, became a boss in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep. And we can't talk about experiments without mentioning X-624/Angel, Stitch's love interest and mate who became so popular in her own right that she now gets a regular influx of merchandise and has made several video game appearances, including most recently in Disney Speedstorm.
Not to be forgotten, the Stitch! anime series also recently celebrated its fifteenth anniversary of its premiere back on October 8th. The first spin-off made after the original Western continuity, Stitch! had the little blue alien crash-land on a small fictional island in the Ryukyu Islands called Izayoi, where he meets and befriends the tomboyish Yuna. During the first two seasons, which were animated by Madhouse, Yuna and Stitch go on their own adventures around the island, befriending yokai who live in the island's Chitama Forest, and dealing with Hämsterviel, Gantu, and Reuben again. Some of the experiments even return in this show, especially Angel, who became an intergalactic pop star in the (in-universe) years since we first met her on Kaua'i. The main plot of these two seasons is about Stitch getting enough good deeds to have the magical Chitama Spiritual Stone grant him a wish, which was apparently to become "ruler of the universe". However, by the end, he decides that living with Yuna is better. After Madhouse's 56 episodes (which includes two post-season specials), Shin-Ei Animation took over for the third season, retooling it by having Yuna and Stitch move to a fictional Okinawan city called New Town, going on wackier adventures there with her new classmates, while Hämsterviel now goes after Stitch on behalf of a big-eared humanoid alien woman named Delia to gain a power cell within him, using several experiments that he "transmutated" to do his dirty work. The 30-episode (again, including another post-season special) season also had Stitch reuniting with Lilo, now all grown up with a daughter of her own, for one episode. The main series of three seasons ran from 2008 to 2011; they were followed by two more specials, Stitch and the Planet of Sand in 2012 and Stitch! Perfect Memory (or Stitch! A Perfect Memory) in 2015.
Infamously, the English dub of the anime established itself as a post-Lilo continuation from the get-go with probably the worst-chosen opening lines to any sequel show ever, when Jumba claimed (later proven false by Lilo's aforementioned third-season appearance) that Stitch left her because Lilo became more interested in a boyfriend over him; such lines, which weren't in the Japanese original, caused many fans to swear off the anime series as "not 'ohana". However, as the years passed since Stitch! ended, the anime faded to relative obscurity, which in turn caused much of the hate it received to die down. In more recent years, it's now garnered some appreciation in its own right after years of ridicule and vitriol, with those such as Saberspark enjoying the show for what it is and making videos about their more positive thoughts on it.
My friend @angoraram made the drawing at the top of this post for this special occasion featuring Stitch, Reuben, Angel, and several other experiments well-known and obscure from throughout Lilo & Stitch: The Series (plus Dorkifier from Stitch!). She already shared this picture on her DeviantArt galley last month, but she also allowed me to share some special 5K desktop wallpaper edits I made of her drawing available in 16:9 and 16:10 aspect ratio versions. You can download these over here.

Experiment KC takes the track by storm! 🏎️
I went to a convention for my second time ever over a week ago (the same one I went to last year) and had a good time! I've also been playing Disney Speedstorm for the past few months while it's been in early access; I've especially enjoyed the game's Lilo & Stitch-themed third season, 'Ohana!
I've also been wondering what I would look like as a Speedstorm Racer, so I had my good friend @angoraram design a Speedstorm-themed racing suit with some inspiration taken from the "Rainbow Warrior" suit design of legendary NASCAR Cup Series driver Jeff Gordon.
Tumblr media
I then commissioned artist Angelo Concepcion III for a colored sketch of me wearing the suit and he was able to get it done just before the convention was over. Thank you both for your speedy drawings! 🏁

Happy 20th anniversary to Stitch! The Movie! 👽⚡
This direct-to-video film was released on August 26, 2003, and it marked the beginning where Lilo & Stitch truly became a media franchise (as in, separate from all those early tie-ins when the first film came out). Being the canonical introduction to Jumba's first 625 genetic experiments (a.k.a. Stitch's "cousins"), even though we only meet two of them and see a few more at the end, the film led to Lilo & Stitch: The Series just weeks later.
Fans were also introduced to the true overarching villain of the franchise, Dr. Jacques von Hämsterviel, who would hire the then-forcibly retired Captain Gantu to get the experiments for him. But the two would underestimate the power of 'ohana, as Lilo and Stitch would end up taming, naming, and rehabilitating all the other experiments over the years, beginning in this film with Experiment 221, which Lilo would name "Sparky". The yellow electrifying experiment may have a very unusual design but he would go on to become a fan favorite thanks to this film. It was also the animated debut of Experiment 625, a character from the decanonized Disney Adventures prequel comics who would become a regular throughout the run of the subsequent show thanks to him becoming Gantu's lazy sandwich-loving sidekick. In fact, 625, who would later be named "Reuben", has also become beloved in his own right, even as he would be overshadowed by both his immediate successor and predecessor experiments.
Here's both the teaser trailer for the film from the original Lilo & Stitch DVD and VHS tape and the official trailer released months later!

Lilo, Jumba, Captain Gantu, and Angel are racing to Disney Speedstorm!
Lilo & Stitch is going to burn rubber onto Gameloft's Disney Speedstorm soon!
This past week, beginning from July 17, 2023, the game's official social media accounts on Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube have been sharing concept art for the new Lilo & Stitch track environment that will be added in the game's third season (and the last season for its early access period).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But Gameloft also took the opportunity to tease the four other Lilo & Stitch racers who will be joining Stitch in the new season by hiding the syllables of those racers' names in the concept art. (Zoom in on the images above!) These were followed by a full reveal of their character and kart renders the very next day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With Lilo Pelekai, Jumba Jookiba, Captain Gantu, and Experiment 624/Angel ready to tear up some Hawaiian roads, plus two more mystery racers from other Disney franchises joining them, this looks to be Disney Speedstorm's biggest season yet before its full free-to-play release on September 28!
Plus, considering that Speedstorm features voice acting, with many of the various Disney and Pixar characters' original voice actors reprising their roles, this will be the first time in years that Lilo & Stitch and Disney fans will get to hear the beloved little Hawaiian girl Lilo talk again and possibly hear Kevin Michael Richardson, who last voiced Gantu in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep (2010), bringing his deep and authoritative voice back to the massive whale-like alien that put him on the map. Moreso, Angel's original voice Tara Strong could finally be voicing Stitch's pink alien siren girlfriend for the first time since Leroy & Stitch seventeen years ago (unless Gameloft decides to go with her Stitch! anime voice Kate Higgins or another actor). Jumba, meanwhile, will be getting a different voice from his original Western appearance, as David Ogden Stiers died back in March 2018. There is a chance that his anime and Stitch & Ai voice Jess Winfield could be voicing the evil genius again though since the latter's English release; if that's the case, then this will be the first time Winfield voiced Jumba in a Western-produced work.
Season 3 of Disney Speedstorm will be released next month during August, following the conclusion of the Toy Story-focused Season 2: To Infinity and Beyond. As of this writing, the game is currently available in paid early access for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PCs (via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Epic Games Store).
For those who missed Stitch's reveal on Stitch Day (June 26) 2023, here's his render.

Happy Leroy Day! 🔴👿👽
The last of the experiment-focused days of Stitch Week is all about Stitch's red-furred twin brother! Will he ever get a chance to get out of Galactic Prison and Dr. Hämsterviel's influence someday? Unlikely, but at least we got some fan art from today and the past year for him!
