What's this general freaking-out about some US laws talking about sending kids to be seen by a doctor to confirm their sex?

I've already read a lot of people saying that actually, things got taken out of context and is not going to be really like that anywhere (in the US at least, for what I read), but like, even if it was. Even if somebody decided to make a law saying "if we think you're trans we're going to send you to a doctor to confirm your sex before we let you participate in X sports competition", what's the big fucking deal about that?

Think for a bloody second. When we're born, doctors routinely see us naked. First, during labour, then our paediatritian at times. Like, in my childhood, one time my paediatritian even had to put a finger in my arse to examine me because I got quite sick, with my mother in front and her constant supervision. Grow a bit older and men get prostate exams, women get pap smears. I mean, doctors know how to give invasive examinations with sensibility, and it's always done with parents in front if you're a minor and, as an adult, I'm normally offered to bring another adult I trust or a different doctor / nurse if I'm uncomfortable, even to something as little as standing in my underwear so my doctor could check a rash last year. And if you ever go to hospital, you'll see that not only you might have a catheter put in to pee, but you might also have your arse literally wiped by a nurse, like, doctors and nurses will see all that comes out of you and where it comes out of and they've learned to deal with it professionally, you don't need to sexualise a bloody doctor's appointment. They're no big deals.

So if organisations start requiring to confirm a child's sex, is not a big deal. Firstly, this would never be done for children who haven't entered puberty, so nothing below the age of 12 or so, because, think with your head for one second, your body only changes and gives you some sex-based differences in sports after you hit puberty, because that's when men's musculature develops more and when the growth spurs occur, and also at the age in which sports competitions begin to get serious.

So checking a kid's sex would actually mean sending teenagers above the age of 11 or 12 to the doctor, accompanied by a parent or tutor, to confirm their birth sex is the one their birth certificate says it is. And at that age, the person wouldn't even need to do more than stand in underwear, that's enough for a well-trained doctor to know if you're developing breasts or hiding a dick. It's an age in which girls might even be going to the gynaecologist already and surely getting their period, so those doctor's appointment would be nothing for them, and there would always be a caretaker present, is not like you leave a child alone with a paedophile.

It doesn't even need to be that. A blood test will tell you someone's sex. A health record will. A chest exam. A look at their hips. A look at their fucking throats, where one either develops or doesn't develop a proper Adam's Apple, will. Stop acting like it's the end of the world.

ok so as someone still relatively new to TWST (and someone just taking the events as they come to EN instead of keeping up with the JP side) and as a Jack Howl simp

I am of the (CORRECT) opinion that he should absolutely get an Applepom look because... fwuffy. and hat with ear holes. and he'd be SO insistent that he's used to the cold and doesn't need it but he will take it once it's insisted on because he's polite and won't refuse Gramma Felmier

Also I think a fun twist on the "someone's sled breaks and their plushie tears so they have to come up with another idea" bit from the other event is that Jack goes wolf mode to pull the sled (because as said in his starsending wish he pulls sleds back at home on breaks to try and get faster as a wolf!)

I'm biased though because I need more Jacc in my life

also while I love the imagery of him pulling the sled, I feel like that would probably get them insta-disqualified. :( unless they can somehow 1) convince the judges that this enormous talking wolf is actually a very well-made plush, and 2) get Jack to go along with it (I do think Jack would instantly respect Marja as being more alpha or whatever and would have to, like, choose between his sense of JUSTICE, or going along with cheating at this sporting event so an authority figure doesn't get mad at him) (...wait this is just the plot of episode 2 again) (DANGIT)

we need to have the conversation of how charles fans treat his teammates without falling into the accusatory zone that we want to harm charles by having this conversation.

i mean charles no harm, but it is something that is getting extremely out of hand and it needs to be talked about. some charles fans have gotten too freely with being cruel to others drivers.

people used to call sebastian vettel a CORPSE. yes, scuderia ferrari screwed him. yes, everyone loves sebastian vettel again NOW (because he is far away from it and free from this hell) but back in 19/20? charles fans, mainly on twitter, made his life miserable. he couldn’t win. he couldn’t make anyone happy. if he won, he was taking something from charles that belonged to charles rightfully. it he lost, he was old and bad and should retire already and this sport wasn’t for him. he wasn’t a team player. he didn’t care about ferrari. he wanted to screw charles over.

if you just got here, if carlos is your first experience of how charles’ teammates are treated, let me tell you. everything that is being said about carlos has already been said about sebastian. and it is crazy for some people to understand that because everyone loves sebastian again, so you can’t even imagine what he went throught.

and i’m sorry for generalizing all of charles fans, im a charles fan, but it is something we need to stop and look at and talk about. how long will we let it go. how long until it starts to happen to lewis hamilton, of all people. how long until they dismiss his victories and say he is old and should give up of this sport so charles can win.

and you know one of the worst part? charles loves to race. every time he had to fight for it, he loved it. when he and carlos race in that track, he comes out with a big smile and talking about how he loves to race carlos. how this is real racing. he loves to fight for it. to prove himself. to have to sweat for it.

all while his fans try to make everyone just bow down their heads and give him things in a plate, already chewed and easy to get. as if he would like that. as if he can’t prove himself worth otherwise. as if he isn’t good enough to fight for it.
