i can't help but get a little moony-eyed over my hyperfixations, they've always been and always be my heroes -- from when i was obsessed with mcr to my present hyperfixations. geralt, jaskier, anakin, gerardmikeyfrankray, dick grayson/nightwing --
like the concept of a hero -- someone who saves you. that's significant i think. save, saves, saved - it feels important
like it's not a concidence that not long ago there was a trend of people imagining their comfort characters talking to each other asking how the person [whose comfort character they are] are doing now that they've moved on -- it feels like they play important roles in giving us hope.

fun musical bit about this scene!:
Tumblr media
the piece that the car is playing (the "classical music that stays classical music") is a tone poem, saint-saëns' danse macabre. it's a super famous piece that you've probably heard before and is associated with all things spooky. but it's not just spooky bc it sounds spooky: it's spooky bc it tells a story! a tone poem is a piece of music evokes a poem, short story, landscape, etc. in short, it's a piece of music that's describing or outlining something.
danse macabre tells the story of death, who every year on the stroke of midnight on halloween plays his fiddle to raise the dead. the dead dance for him until the following dawn, where they return to their graves until the next year. (musically it does a lot of cool things to reflect this: there's 12 notes at the beginning representing the 12 strokes of midnight, and the frequent use of a specific musical interval called the tritone. in the medieval period the tritone was also called diabolus in musica, literally meaning "the devil in music" bc of how dissonant it sounded to listeners at the time. it also quotes the dies irae chant as well!)
so the fact that it's what the car chose to play is SUPER cute. bc it's classical (technically it's from the romantic period, but w/e), like aziraphale wants, but it's also reminiscent of crowley. bc i bet the car knows just how much aziraphale loves crowley, too. it's a really subtle nudge that the car knows both of them and it's like the car is finding a musical middle for them both, almost.
it's also a subtly brilliant choice bc in the flashback prior, aziraphale said that crowley asked to meet aziraphale in the graveyard at midnight. just like death met the dead on halloween.

Also the montage of all the wilmon scenes? Broke me. Absolutely broke me. How far they have come. What they had was SO beautiful and I am so glad that they got to cherish it.

Once again their dynamic is the best thing that's ever been shown on screen. Wille, as usual, is being emotionally honest with his heart on his sleeve. Openly admitting to Simon that he's been dreaming about them. It would have been so easy for Simon to tease Wille about this and say ‘So you dreamt about me huh?’ But Simon, the sweet, considerate, lovely boy that he is, chooses to validate Wille's choice of words, rather than make fun of him for it.
The official translation doesn't really do Simon justice in my opinion.
"Det var inte riktigt så här jag hade drömt att det skulle va." "Hur har du drömt att det ska va?"
"This wasn't really how I'd dreamed it would be." "How did you dream it would be?"
There's a clear punctuation on 'ska va?'. It's not a casual question. He's asking for Wille to elaborate on his dreams, with the obvious intention of making the conversation flirty. He's not surprised at the "I can show you", he expected it. He wants to make Wille's dream come true. And Wille thrives in this affirmation 💜

i think this episode of ted lasso was so good because it was about love like as cheesy as it sounds it’s kinda true. nate was reflecting on his wish to be “successful” and has finally realized that in doing so, he had lost his passion for pursuing his interests and his love for his family. rebecca obviously pointing out how a huge part of sports is the community formed around the love for the sport and teams. roy realizing how his stubbornness made it difficult for him to accept his love for keeley. keeley realizing that she was truly passionate about her company and she loved the work she was doing before jack had been a part of it. sam holding onto his dreams and his love for his home country despite akufo’s bullying. jamie expressing his love for his team by showing up to phoebe’s uncle day for and choosing sam’s number when he plays for the england team. it’s truly about the love

Making the Collector's pronouns he/they was a stroke of genius. Because not only is it obvious (at least to me) for his species of godlike beings to be mostly genderless, but they set it up so that King called him "they" first to let the audience know a) how close he and the Collector are and b) that the audience was aware of that pronoun. Thus, at the end, when Luz says "They're leaving!" about the Collector and all the characters say goodbye, it makes perfect sense that all of the characters would say and do this in-universe, but we can tell out of universe that the line "they're leaving" actually means all of us and that we're being waved goodbye to.
They/them are some powerful words.

okay but here’s why I actually straight up started crying towards the end there.
when the Hells first arrived in Uthodern, the atmosphere was fear.  the city was dark.  temples were closing their doors.  the center for knowledge, where so many people came for answers, did not have knowledge.  did not have answers.  people were scared.  scared that they couldn’t find help, scared that they couldn’t reach out to loved ones, ask if they are okay.
and suddenly, within their very walls, within their homes, a horrible beast sprouted forth from the heart of the city.  there was death, there was destruction.  there was despair.  because if their own home wasn’t safe, then nowhere was.
the darkness was winning.
then a woman with purple hair and odd markings spoke into the captain of the guard’s mind and told him that things were better.  things were okay.  and he believed her.  because what else could he do but to cling to hope?
because that’s what the Hells brought with them, as this terrifying celestial beast that once brought death now steps out, wearing a peach bow, surrounded by the radiance and light that the city so sorely needed.  he is guarded by such an odd group, but they all exude calm.  there is a small gnome wearing a pink handknit sweater riding on its back.
they guide this noble, beautiful beast through an entire city, and the whole time they are showcasing to everyone that the darkness is not winning.  not now.  not while there is still hope kindling in our hearts.  not while ancient beasts can once again see the stars.
the world may be ending, but it hasn’t ended yet.
not if Bells Hells can help it.
