what even is canon at this point, anyway?

if you find yourself thinking that more often than you’d like, I have an event for you! its tentative title is the “spn ‘verses verse” bc I like to think I’m clever lol.

this event will last ten days, and will cover prompts ranging from AUs a la It’s A Terrible Life to alternate endings to season finales!

the event will mostly be held in the third or fourth week of August, I’m announcing it now to get an idea of the participation rate and because I am but a small blog. so reblog if you’d be interested in this kind of creator event, and feel free to ask about.. pretty much anything related to the event, actually, seeing as I’ve been so vague.

TL,DR: I might organise an spn event in late August / early May centred around the many, many versions of canon that have developed over more than fifteen years. reblog if you’re interested or know someone who might be interested, so I know whether to take help organising it or if I am to organise it at all.

The past year or so's been a wild ride for me in many ways but something particularly special happened to me, and that's gaining extremely talented, warm, and encouraging new friends along the way. I've been on spnblr for over a decade (a feat in itself 🥲), but haven't felt like a true part of the community until recently, and I have my friends to thank for that! Many of whom are very talented, mostly self-taught (!!!!!) editors in their own right!! I've loved editing for as long as I can remember and always jump at the chance to celebrate editing as a craft as much as I can because.... well! I don't think enough people do! The spn amv editor community truly has kept the magic alive, celebrating characters, relationships and the heart of a show that a whole lot of people simply cant help but love through the use of music and video.

writing editing is hard! a lot of people in this community picked up editing for the first time only a year or two ago and that's INSANE to me! editing takes real time, energy and dedication, and instead of making my birthday about me this year, I wanted to celebrate amv editors. so for AUGUST 24 + 25, id like to celebrate you by boosting 2 of your edits: your VERY FIRST amv as well as the edit you're most proud of !! more info + rules under the cut :) i cant wait to celebrate everyone's amvs, and hope u join me!! ⇩⇩⇩

The SPN Father’s Day Exchange is a fic and art exchange run through Ao3 to celebrate SPN dads. This exchange is NOT confined to men who are fathers in canon; characters who you want to see as a father, characters who are father figures, women who you think have “dad vibes”, etc are all acceptable, as long as the works created are focused on fathers or fatherhood in some way.

2) Be respectful of all other participants. If there are any issues, please contact me through the exchange Tumblr account or DM me on Discord and we will work together to solve it.

3) Respect Do Not Wants (DNWs) and use common sense – if someone requests fluff and doesn’t DNW torture, they probably still don’t want torture unless otherwise requested. 

4) Your work must focus on fathers or fatherhood in some way (this rule is up to interpretation, as long as you create something your giftee will be happy with). 

5) To request an extension, contact me on the exchange's Tumblr account or DM me on Discord. Include your Ao3 handle and how long of an extension you need. You don't need to give a reason or explanation, just a heads-up so that I don't give your assignment to someone else.

7) If you for some reason cannot complete your work, hit the "Default" button next to your assignment in your Ao3 "Assignments" page. No reason or explanation is necessary, but please do this sooner rather than later if you are sure that you will not be able to complete your creation.
