Gonna start off with my boi Kwaku Anansi. He is a Spider-god so of course he never needed to get bit to obtain powers

Pavitr Prabhakar, Spider-Man India, was not bit by a spider but instead recieved his powers from a diety

The Prince of Arachne was never bit by a spider at all. He's just a normal guy with a silly suit of armor

Mangaverse Peter Parker has no powers, he jumps from building to building with a grappling device

Not quite an alternate universe but Miguel O'Hara, Spider-Man 2099, got his powers from an experiment that fused his DNA with a spider. The results gave him venomous fangs and claws

Calculating the tensile strength of Spider-Rex's Web fluid

So I went to watch Across the spiderverse yesterday, and in the film, there is a T-rex spider person who swings around with webshooters on his wrist. So I did what any rational human being would, I spent half an hour calculating the theoretical ultimate tensile strength of his webbing. Disclaimer: I am a high school student. Please spare me if I do make a mistake.

The formula for ultimate tensile stress is strength=maximum force in newtons÷area of the cross section of the material in mm².

Now, assuming that the radius of the Webbing does not change and the radius is a constant 3cm, that means that the cross-sectional area of the Webbing is approximately 2827.433mm².

In the film, Spider-Rex jumps down around 50m is just over a second before he shoots his Web. Using the formula force=mass*acceleration and assuming that Spider-Rex is 7000kg, as he is an adult male t-rex in prime condition, that means that the force applied on the Webbing is 350000newtons. But. BUT. The ultimate tensile strength formula uses the maximum force that can be applied to the Webbing and since the Webbing does not break in the scene the value of 350000 newtons is not the maximum force it can handle. Just to be safe, I will assume that the Webbing is strong enough to handle 3 times that force as Spider-Rex only fell 50m.

With this information, I can assume that the ultimate tensile strength of Spider-Rex's (Pter Ptarker's) webbing is approximately 371.3616 mega pascals. For comparison, steel has the ultimate tensile strength of 420 Mpa. That means that this prehistoric mutation is producing a fluid from within his body that hardens when ejected and has almost the same strength as steel.

What's the moral of the story. Do your math homework instead of writing a long and winded tumblr post about a children's film.

Spider-Rex Vs Venomsaurus Rex

In this Dinosaur AU, Eddie Brock used to be a Brachiosaurus until he was accidentally knocked into the strange tar pit by Spider-Rex and had turned into Venomsaurus. Spider-Rex was fighting Kravertooth the sabretooth tiger until he faced another problem. Also in this Dino AU, Mary Jane is a feathered raptor while J Jonah Jameson is supposed to be a Jingshanosaurus. As Kravertooth slinks away from the scene, Spider-Rex has to balance with getting the other dinos to safety (and saving the grumpy Jingshan Jingshanosaurus), saving Mary Jane Watsaur and fighting Venomsaurus.
