my time to shine with some iwaoi headcannons 😼(the first one was a dream I had)

1. so iwa is doing smth on a laptop writing an essay or smth. oikawa sneaks in like a freaking cartoon villain and just sits behind him on the bed. he wraps his arms around his beefy bfs waist and gives him soft Lil kisses all along his neck and back and hair. Iwaizumi is trying do hard to focus on his work but it's near impossible with Oikawas thumbs rubbing his hips and breath on his neck. eventually he turns around and is like "wtf do you want?!" oikawa just looks into his eyes and places a kiss on his lips. Iwaizumi gives up on work by now. this happens almost every time iwa is occupied.

2. IWAIZUMI HAD AN OMEGAVERSE PHASE. he was so into pretending to be an alpha. hed make oikawa play omega and oikawa still hasn't let him live it down. (they were like 10)

3. Oikawas love language is quality time and Iwa's is acts of service.

oh. oh, this is one of the fics where i feel sorry for the reader. trapped between an obsessive, controlling ex and her creepy boss at work- she never had a chance, did she? and i cant help thinking that she fell into the the same mindset as daichi- that iwazumi just cant handle his ego being bruised, that oikawa just wants her for sex. she has no idea how obsessed they are with her, and thats her downfall. and theres daichi (who i loved in this fic), but i dont think he can find anything

and makki! i did not see makki coming. how did he get roped into this? is the reader being held at his house, at least temporarily? does he, at least, feel any guilt? sorry if im being annoying, but i loved this fic so much and i have so many questions.

it would’ve been hard enough to escape just one of them; the two together and poor reader never had a chance :(( as far as makki goes he’s an absolute piece of shit too. he genuinely likes the reader - out of all of iwa’s friends he was probably the one she got along best with, but makki’s morally grey at the very best, and he’d do anything for his friends. does he feel guilty? not really, after all she’s better off with the two of them anyway.

Hey hey hey J!!! Hope you’re doing well and taking care of yourself. Water, food, and sleep are the fundamentals for a good day so please make sure you’re getting everything you need. Sorry I didn’t get to say anything yesterday, I was really busy :(. Since this is gonna be a 2 in 1 I’ll try my best to not go overboard.

Ok so yesterday’s chapter was great! I love that they’re starting the interviews and I’m expecting that this is gonna make Daichi and Osamu really look at their behavior towards YN. Btw, I’m writing this before reading the next chapter (it was 9am EST when I wrote this and you don’t post till 1pm EST). Anywhoo, I’m also really loving that they’re learning to communicate effectively from Oiks. His little “I‘m just /communicating/” was a mood. I’m glad they’re ready to face the consequences of their actions, no matter what happens. Like don’t get me wrong, I love them and I understand Meiko had them on sum different but it was still wrong on so many levels. Also thank you for the bonus endings!! Like thank you for writing this as a whole but thank you for going above and beyond for us!

Moving on to today’s chapter! Daichi really sat there and tried to justify his wack *ss behavior. No way, the audacity. My thing is like I understand if someone hurt someone you care about so you avoid interacting with them but actively making their life hell??? Like that’s just childish and it’s frfr none of your business. Like what good does it do you to bother them when they’ve done nothing to you specifically?? Have your loyalties or whatever but don’t you dare hurt someone for something you never witnessed. It just makes an asshole out of you. But getting off my little ethics rant, I’m glad that Daichi is reflecting on his relationship with Suga. Its gonna lead him to reevaluate Meiko (hopefully, especially now that he knows what she did to Suga) and his treatment of YN. It’s kinda concerning that he just let him go so easily at first. I feel like I say something is concerning in every reaction lol. I’m not sure if they’ve really spoken to one another since Suga stopped interacting with Meiko, but if Daichi really believed he was as close to Suga as he says why would he let his friend get so distant with so little protest? Like fight for him if he’s really your main homie. Also poor YN and Atsumu. Like as besties I feel like they’re really struggling since YN experienced it and Atsumu watched how much it hurt her. Like the rest of the cum squad™️ doesn’t exactly see the full scope since they were the abusers (and yes I’m gonna use such a strong word since that’s what they were) for a long while and she never really let them see how it hurt, maybe that it made her a bit angry but never that it hurt her deep (not until much later anyways). I feel like it was a bit traumatic for Atsumu too bc imagine not being able to help your friend too much other than arguing with people who never actually change their behaviors. He probably felt a bit helpless and useless since all he could really do is let her cry and try to get people to leave her alone. But yeah so all of that to say, it was probably really hard for both of them and I feel bad for them since they have to relive that trauma. Fantastic writing, as usual :), and I look forward to how this will all play out!

hey if u dont mind me asking, why do you like oikawa?? not that thats a bad thing, its just i half-jokingly decided that i didnt like him bc oikawa jokes are easy to make and i need that validation but like. i dont think i really hate him. when i try to think why i might dislike him nothing rlly comes to mind, so i think i made myself believe that i dont like him for no reason dsjfgh uhm yeah sorry if this made no sense 🧍🏾‍♀️

i’m not going to lie, i was kind of neutral to him at first. i didn’t hate him, i just wasn’t really? head over heels like a lot of people were. it wasn’t something to fully make hate jokes about him (in all seriousness, if you make the flattykawa jokes i don’t want you on my blog. whether you like him or not).

to be honest the like... idk i see some people saying oikawa doesn’t deserve his fans, his status, etc., and that’s never sat right with me; he may have had a bad day once and blamed it on kageyama, but no one can say they haven’t done something similar. he serves as an antagonist to kageyama at certain points, but he’s not the villain.

anyways, like i was saying, i was neutral to him for a while. i started writing for him a bit cause he’s popular, and i liked him a bit more but i was still kinda neutral. until i got my oiks anon and now he lives in my mind, rent free, 24 hours and 7 days a week.

i feel like his reputation got ruined a lot by his fangirls and some of the fandom saw him as this cocky, arrogant, self-centered starboy. but do you remember that scene where kageyama met oiks while he was with his nephew? there was a bit where his nephew mentions oikawa’s girlfriend leaving him. i don’t remember the scene very clearly so i don’t know exactly what oikawa did, but he got defensive and very obviously upset about it.

anyways, to make this shorter because this is already long: he’s very good at covering things up with a forced smile and a fake narcissistic personality. as much as he wants people to believe he’s some untouchable god, he’s human in the end. he’s insecure, probably even more so than some of the other characters. he wants companionship and he’d do anything for his partner. he feels he needs to be in contol, he sits in fear of everything falling out of place, so he’ll act like everything is fine in hopes that it will be.

its 11:34 pm and tōru oikawa the “grand king” was still not in your bed with cuddles like he normally was. of course as his girlfriend of 1.5 years, you knew him and he knew you. so u called iwa.

“haji?” you question once the ace picks up after the second attempt of calling him. “is oiks there?” already dreading the answer.

“oh... hey,” you hear iwa say obviously mouthing something to someone near him. “uh- yeah. he is,” he admits with a sigh.

you quickly hang up, keys already in ur hand as u drive to aoba johsais gym. once you arrive iwa is standing by the door, a faint hearing of volleyballs being dribbled on the gym floor and a smack: tōru’s favorite serve. you nod at iwa telling him silently, ‘you can go ive got this. dont worry, im so beating his ass.’

as you storm inside you dont see ur confident, cocky, gorgeous boyfriend practicing serves as you thought you would. instead you see a shell of the man you know, someone staring at their hands seeming to bear the weight of the world on their shoulders frim their posture. as you see what was happening, him comparing himself to kageyama, all anger lf him overworking himself were long forgotten as you rush to him, hugging him as he let out a sob that wracked through his body.

“am i- am i just not good enough princess?” he asks, the chocolate haired setters normally clear eyes swarming with unshed tears. “wouldnt u like someone like iwa more?”

you shush the setter and hug him murmuring how much you love him, why you love him, and why u dint love anyone else.

by the end of the night in the car, oikawa driving, music is blasting, the two of you are singing along; until u yell out of the blue “GODDAMNIT TOORU NEVER EVER DO THAT AGAIN OK I LOVR YOU SO MUCH AND UR OVERWORKING URSELF AGAIN. I WILL MURDER U IF U KEEP DOING THAT.” as oikawa looks at you with admiration and fear in his eyes. “now keep ur eyes on the road goddamnit.”

and the two of you drove home to cuddle some more, conflict resolved.

I always thought Iwaizumi was hard to write for since he’s so stoic but also hyper at the same time? I mean it’s clear he’s a dom but what is it about his personality that u think makes him easier to write for than other characters? I find him and Oikawa to be particularly difficult, and I think tsukki is a less challenging character to write for? Sorry that’s a whole rant but I’m curious to know ur thoughts

I think for me Tsukki is easier because on 1) we have lots of interaction and canon content on him, specifically focused on his growth and his key aspects are very clearly stated -- we know he’s (a little bitch) snarky, very intelligent while also being competitive, easily lashes out and have deep, internalized self-doubt and trust issues. Now, with this I think I can have a nice grasp on him and then feel more secure about writing him, making it easier for me. 

Also I love the fucking beanpole salty bitch, can’t help it, he was my first real crush on hq 💘

I'm also not good when writing Oiks, reason why I only use him sometimes and in small scenes. But I do think it has to do with me not being so into him? Like I have the key traits from him, and I can write him platonically but like a whole thing from him? idk, it doesn’t flow. 🤷🏼

Did you notice I've left Iwa for last? That's bc he's the CHERRY ON TOP and I'll RANT AISJAISJ Ok so like, he's not easy to write, I think I just love him and think about him a lot that's why I feel like he's easy; also it's mostly like the iwaizumi in my head is an easy guy for me to write and while he may resemble canon idk if he's all *that* in character yk? IAJIAJSIA does this make sense??

But let's go, rant about why I think he's an easy dude for me:

- I relate a lot with Iwaizumi, specifically the part of being under someone's whos brilliant and feeling like you're lacking, having the self-doubt eating away in your head despite the fact you don't normally let it out but on contrary, you actually try to work hard and get shit done while being responsible. 

- I also relate to being the responsible one in a group, looking over everyone else, and being reliable, all while dealing with my own shit yk?

- I don't think Iwa is stoic as I think he's a serious dude. He's responsible, faithful, a bit aggressive, a good observer, and playful (tho I feel like not right away, it requires a bit of intimacy). He's also a great, strong senpai and I LOVE HIM OKAY!  🥺💕💕

- I also don't think of him as hyper as I think of him as a normal guy, with friends and passions and hobbies, and a super cute nerd (TIMESKIP! SPOILER) as we could see from him just WHIPPING OUT THE BOOK by Ushi's dad to point out what he likes, like???? who fucking carries a book about workout regimen like that? The nerd that is Iwaizumi Hajime, that's who!!! (END SPOILER)

- Iwa is a lot on his head all while seemingly perfect outside, doing his shit, looking over Oiks and helping his friends and it felt really close to me, reason why I'm so deep inside iwaizumi hajime hell and proudly so.

OH AND LIKE, I didn't even go about him being dom and all IAJSIAJSAI look, yes, I feel the dom vibes -- I'm a whole bottom for him too, but I think iwa would also be into soft, looking-into-your-eyes lovemaking and I'm here for ALL OF IT. I just love him a lot okay 🥺🤧💕

okok so, after our third year, haji and i went to different schools (he went to irvine, i went to some university in japan idk). our time together in high school was really amazing, and we thought we would be ok in university, despite the 5.5k miles that would be between us. the distance and the horrifying time difference took a toll on both of us. as someone who adores being present with the people i love (my love languages are quality time and physical touch, neither of which are possible when one of us is in california and the other in japan), i became a bit distant. my wanting to study medicine didn’t help either—i was swamped with work 24/7, which made me practically unreachable. he was distant too, super busy with schoolwork and all of the other things on his agenda. around early january, he called me during his evening aka my afternoon aka the only time we're usually both free. i had midterms coming up though, so i told him “i can’t talk right now, studying for midterms, sorry.” and he snapped. said things like “we never talk anymore, jin” and "i feel like i don’t know you anymore”. i was confused because it's never been a secret that i've always dreamed of going into medicine, and i thought he understood that. told him "we both know med school is intense, but it's all i've ever wanted and you know that" and he replied with "i support you, but we didn't even call on new years because you were studying!!" as push came to shove, it eventually escalated to the point where “maybe we’re just not right for each other” came out of his mouth. it was so out of character for him yknow, so i waited for him to say something about it, something like "that's not what i meant" or "i take it back" but he said nothing. "fine, maybe we're not," i said, and hung up.
