Lately I've been obsessed with the idea of some powerful warlord (warlady?) invading a church and taking the prettiest boy there to be her concubine. Just.... His "purity" which he vigilently guarded for so long is violently taken by what he considers to be a godless heretical "savage," and idk I'm a slut for corruption ig

once again thinking of emma and i hate. i hate. how in the s2 op her hand is reaching out as she falls.
she didn't want to die, she was reaching out to cxs, she was willing to be saved.
i wanna shake cheng xiaoshi and scream. im sorry you couldnt save her, im sorry she died, im sorry but she was fated to die. your involvement doesnt matter at all.
but look at this! she reached out to you! you did that! you couldnt change her fate but what you did was still so kind. she was murdered cheng xiaoshi, without you she wouldnt have reached out, without you there wouldnt be a murder. without you there would be a suicide.
you gave her this! she reached out, she's not okay but she has hope. because of you! its so morbid, you didnt stop her death, but you did stopped her suicide. its still so sad, and death is not a good thing, but im glad that she was murdered instead. you couldnt save her but what you did was so kind cheng xiaoshi.
in her last moments, she was looking forward to the future and not regretting the past. you gave her that, cheng xiaoshi.

it's so interesting to go back and watch earlier owl house episodes knowing that philip is human........ it puts his interactions with luz in a whole different light. he's clearly just playing along with her and views her as some kind of endearing naughty child rather than a genuine enemy. in a way he actually seems to care abt her, or at the very least he doesn't want to harm her. it's quite possible she reminds him of caleb, or perhaps even of himself. sure, he thinks she's wrong and probably views her as being stupid, but she's still another human being and to him that makes her more of his equal than any of the witches.
she's going into interactions with him with the mentality of "this is a very dangerous supernatural being who would kill me and my friends if he had the chance" while he's going into his interactions with her with the mentality of "this is a mislead and silly child, i suppose i'll humour her for now and hope that she sees my point of view someday".
it's a rlly interesting contrast. even his dialogue, saying "OK, i'll play" or "i like your spirit", it's clear he's interacting with her almost like a sparring buddy rather than an actual enemy lol. even when she actually gets a hit on him he's only mildly irritated. if a witch did that to him they'd be dead on the spot.
it must have been interesting for him to encounter another human again. she was probably the first actual human he'd been in contact with since caleb was around (if you don't count the grimwalkers or her interaction with him in elsewhere and elsewhen).
philip is a highly self absorbed, cold and manipulative person, so most of his "friendlier" interactions with ppl come about bc he's trying to manipulate them to control them or get something out of them. luz is different though. i think the way he is when he talks to her is the closest we get to seeing his real personality when he's interacting with someone who he somewhat respects (or at least someone who he doesn't actively despise lol). he sees the two of them as just two people with a difference in opinion, rather than actual enemies........
it's just really intriguing to see how he responds to another human being after being stuck in the demon realm for so long. i would've loved to see him interact with other humans in the human realm but sadly that never happened, possibly bc of the time constraints on the show. i wonder what he would've made of humanity if he had really had a chance to reintegrate into human society and see what ppl were up to. would he have been horrified? pleased? confused? would his love for humanity have grown or lessened? it's interesting to think abt

El hasn't seen that many movies due to her childhood and that includes children movies. So the kids, especially the girls are now trying to help her "catch up", wanting to show her their favorite childhood movies. And for some reason they gotta do this at Steve's house. Because apparently he has the best equipment for movie nights and he works at the Family Video so he can also get them the movies they don't have in their collections. So yeah, Steve gets it and he doesn't really mind. If the boys (and Erica) can have their DnD nights at his house, the girls can have their little movie nights too.
And it's not like Steve has seen most of these movies either. Some of them for sure but if they go into like princess or cutesy movie territory then that's all new to him. It's not like his dad ever let him watch anything too "girly", so more often than not he finds himself watching those movies with the same wonderment as El. Even when he totally planned to do something else meanwhile the movie plays, he ends up sitting with them through most of them. Enjoys them even. When your own love life is (presumably) a mess you, as a hopeless romantic, can at least enjoy some fairytale love stories.
The only minor problem with all this.. Is the songs. They get stuck on Steve's head with such a ease he ends up singing and humming them more than he would like to admit. If only the stuff at school had stuck that easy..
So when it's DnD night and he is prepping some snacks for the party (he tries to make them eat something healthy too with varied success) and if Eddie shows up little early and catches him singing "Some day my prince will come" and scares him shitless when he turns around and sees him leaning on the door frame with shit eating grin, that's just gonna stay between them right? And if the "sorry, I guess I'm the wrong kind of prince here" doesn't sit quite right in his mind, that's something to figure out later, right?
He tells Eddie to shut up and throws a dish towel at him, which he dodges with annoying ease. And when he walks up to Steve, starts singing something that Steve soon enough recognizes as one other princess movie song and then makes Steve dance with him, twirling him around the kitchen until he is giggling and starts singing along, only stopping when they hear the doorbell ring.. When he whispers to Eddie he is ridiculous but still feeds him a strawberry from the cutting board he was using to prep the snacks, before heading to open the door. Yeah that's all gonna be packed into the messy love life category of his brain and to be figured out later, definitely.
And this all definitely increases the usage of "princess" and princess themed nicknames Eddie keeps throwing at him. Steve hates that he doesn't really hate it.

the goldfinch made me feel something i hadn’t felt about reading in a long time; which is being so engrossed in a book’s universe that finishing it makes you need a recovery time. For four days I was stuck in a liminal bubble outside of everything, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the characters, I had very vivid images of places I’ve never been to before, cinematic stills etched in my mind, all that because donna tartt is so fond of detail. And I know some people would’ve liked the book to be shorter and that some things probably didn’t need as much detail but it had that specific purpose of creating such an emotional, vivid picture, where every phrase, every interaction, every minor character, every description has a place and a tone, that it is meant to submerge you even deeper in that little universe, just like you would spend hours staring at brushstrokes and feeling slowly captured by a painting
which is even more impressive because theo as a narrator is not that relatable to me, except for his expressions of grief, yet i was so entranced and inhabited by his thoughts, by his speech pattern, because the writing is so incredibly good that it makes you part of his universe instantly and without question
anyways. I think that it is a book that honors donna tartt’s love for the craft of writing, and it’s beautiful

No because there is so much missed potential with not having a totk DLC. I want to explore a new Hyrule as much as anyone but there are still so many questions about this one.
What happened to the rest of the Zonai? Did they leave and Mineru and Rauru just decided to stay? How far back did Zelda go? Because I don't believe it's like post-Skyward Sword (I would if it wasn't for the fact the Rito are there it's the only thing throwing me off oh my godddd) and it couldn't have been 10,000 years since 10,000 years ago was the first Calamity, and this whole thing with the Imprisoning War was a different event (although it would be super fucking interesting if totk Ganondorf was the last Gerudo male born before the first Calamity and was also the source for Calamity Ganon. The history of Hyrule's royal family is also the history of Calamity Ganon and all that).
Speaking of the Imprisoning War and Ganondorf, what about Twinrova?? Those two Gerudo in golden masks in the 4th and 5th memories have Koume and Kotake written on their shoulders, we could've done something with that?? And speaking of the first Calamity seriously could there be more of an explanation on the Ancient Hero's Aspect?? Please?? What is up with him??? They just dropped that and left???
And also there's still stuff going on with the current Hyrule. Where did all the Sheikah tech go? I can understand dismantling the Divine Beasts and guardians and the shrines and towers could have gone back underground but what about all the ancient gear and stuff?? Where'd that go?? Can it at least be mentioned??
Plus there's stuff with Penn, his story feels kind of unresolved. He left to Washa's Bluff but then just. Didn't do anything. No new story, he just kinda was There. And speaking of him and Washa's Bluff, where's Kass???? He's mentioned at least once by Genli but nothing about where he is. Maybe he's getting new songs but it would've been nice to know where he is. Plus he could've come back with some new songs about new stuff (especially since the Zonai language in the shrines kind of sounds like singing)
I'd also just kinda like more stuff on the sky islands or the depths. I don't go there much because I don't see as much of a reason to, I would have liked the sky to at least be more developed :(
I dunno I'm just spitballing stuff while I'm replaying the game because man. I'd like a dlc a lot. I'm excited for a new Zelda game whenever it comes around but there's still some stuff I wanna see with this one that I don't have to come up with myself.

i’ve been playing through the mass effect series recently, and while i LOVE it and can definitely see where fo4 gets a lot of its inspiration from, i can’t help but appreciate the pros of the relationship system in fo4.
in the mass effect series, you’re locked out of several scenes and content if you don’t romance a character. you miss out on some character development as well. this carries the unfortunate implication that romantic relationships are superior to platonic ones.
in fallout 4, romanceable characters’ paths branch off into two equally important directions: platonic or romantic. you get their whole character arc and/or personal quest regardless. both the platonic and romantic ends have equal importance and require the same amount of affinity points.
in the mass effect series, romantic relationships feel extremely rigid. to lock yourself into a romance, you’re usually forced to express direct interest in a relationship early on before a strong dynamic is even established. the only exceptions to this are romances added in later games to characters from earlier games you are already close with (garrus and tali come to mind, which is why i’m not surprised they’re often regarded to as some of the better romances in the series).
in fallout 4, you can flirt with your companion in their second and third affinity conversations, thus upping your chances of successfully romancing them in their final affinity conversation. this gives the romances decent build up and make them feel less out of no where. additionally, you can fail charisma checks. your companions can reject you. it makes them feel more real.
in the mass effect series, your choices only affect a small select few of your romantic prospects (samara comes to mind). for most of them, going paragon or renegade has absolutely no effect on anything.
in fallout 4, companions will break up with you if they feel you’ve been acting against their moral code too much. additionally, if you do this too much, companions will just straight up stop being your companion forever.
do not get me wrong, there are many things mass effect does better (character loyalty affecting the outcome of the plot, more cinematic scenes, ease of befriending several companions), but it’s nice to be able to reflect back on the things fallout 4 did well, but i just never really thought about before!

it’s my turn to make this post about this fandom
i am so incredibly happy to be a part of this community and to have made friends and collectively discuss the joys of MUSIC and happiness and friendship, but lemme just say that there are times when i am reminded just how crazy some of the greta fans are. we went to the thing with feathers show last night with bird and byron (i have never listened to them but GUYS!!! THEY ARE PHENOMENAL! if you like mac saturn, you’ll love them) and the criticals, and halfway through ttwf set, dave asked who was a greta fan and followed it up with “please be nice to us” and that just broke my fucking heart.
we met this lovely sweetheart who was photographing the show (and had a press pass!!!) and the group of greta fans right in the front wouldn’t let her through to literally do her job. she told us about how horrific it was to be a photographer trying to shoot gvfs michigan shows and just how horrible the fans were and i’m just,,, it’s so embarrassing sometimes!!!
this shit is about the music FIRST and if that's not why you're here, then you’re in it for the wrong reasons. this band is about community and love and RESPECT and the fact that some of y’all have WILDLY missed that message means that you need to reevaluate your priorities. listen to the music. the boys are not gonna fall in love with you. instead, let their message guide you towards what they’re really about!!! PEACE LOVE UNITY EQUALITY HELLLOOOOOOO???
anyways, i felt ashamed to be a grestie last night and i hate feeling that way. i wanna sing and dance and laugh with all of you but sometimes one bad apple spoils the bunch! i know this doesn't apply to you guys but i just needed to voice my frustration. i wish collectively we would do better as a fandom and not be an embarrassment that directly reflects onto the boys.

"My dear Ardia, I shall protect though till the day heaven falls," whispered Eve. Soft tears fell from the toddler's eyes, but she only whimpered quietly. Eve stroked her face tenderly. Ardia had her mothers beautiful brown skin, with spots of vitiligo, and although she had inherited her long, curly locks, they were distinctly Morningstar blonde. A reminder she did not need, for every night Lucifer consumed her mind. His smile, his laugh, his small, fluffy creatures, the feel of his body against hers-.
Eve could see the small horn, and the buds of wings that protruded from the infants back. Though she yearned for the fantastical seraphim from which Ardia descended from, the world consisted of only her, and her daughter. She was determined that she would be accepted into heaven. Perhaps Sera's young angel, Emily, would receive some otherworldly compassion that Sera had never possessed. Compassion. Compassion. Compassion was something Eve would teach her daughter, no matter what. She would never be cold-hearted like the elders of heaven. The elders that sent Lucifer to the flames.
