I just remembered a post that I saw long ago by a darkling defender about how leigh based the grisha oppression on jewish oppression and if you don't like the darkling (because he tried to liberate them) you are by extension antisemitic and no offense well maybe some but it sounds like you're trying to guilt-trip people into liking the darkling. You can agree with his original goal of liberation and dislike his methods to get to that goal, and it's not like the rest of his character justifies anything

i am not your son. i know i have his voice, his hair, his face. but i am not him. you aren’t my mom. i don’t belong here. hell. your son isn’t your daughter. you don’t know it. he didn’t know it. but he was never her. we try and take good care of what’s left of him. we can never rid ourselves of his bad habits. but we try our best to stave them away. we know you never meant to, but you helped break us into these pieces. your mom and her husband did the first few hits. once those were there, even the smallest of touches chipped us away. everyone, even god himself, played some role in smashing her to bits.
some people compare us to a broken plate. and while this isn’t entirely accurate (we were never whole to begin with) there is some poetry in it. kintsugi. the japanese art of repairing pottery with gold. exaggerating the look of the cracks. bringing them together into one cohesive piece.

//see i'm not sure if i can convey like. the symbolism of this icon through just the image of it, especially to those who haven't read AF/haven't in a long time
the shape is in reference to the coin holly shot a hole through and gave to artemis, as a reminder that he is a good person at heart, and that he should "blow on that spark [of goodness]" every once in a while, that he now wears as a pendant (and also attached an optical disk to for data storage)
the text has less to do with that symbolism and just reads "proudly peculiar" in gnommish
but like out of that context it just looks like a donut with cryptic text on it jfkldjfkljklfajlk
and i'm not really good enough at graphic design to know how to make it look less like a generic disc and more like a coin
my alternative would have just been like. an acorn-shaped bi flag with no text bc that's a slightly more recognizable symbol for the AF books, but it's much more of a symbol of the LEP than of artemis himself

🔥 for Wander season 2 'cause I think I might agree with you on that
Send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular opinion.
I think, aside from the shift to a much more serious, serialized tone, my biggest issue was how they portrayed Wander in this season (and to an extent, Lord Hater). Both of their arcs that season were revolving around trying to get Hater and Dominator to be a thing, with Peepers and Sylvia being the straight men, and I just... wasn't a fan of it!
It felt so out of character for them both! Wander's a friendly, helpful guy (and of course would do anything to help someone in need) and Lord Hater, well... he's Lord Hater, but trying to force two people together who absolutely were not compatible just felt... gross. Cringy. Early 2000's cartoons love triangle secondhand embarrassment cringy.
And I KNOW, very obviously, it was the point of said season, and both Hater and Wander were very much in the wrong for it. I could certainly tolerate it for a one and done gag (or maybe two episodes max) but having them be THIS obsessive to the point where it spanned multiple episodes or references to that conflict in the second season just... lost me.
I thought some of the other things were great- the constant, looming threat of Dominator despite trying to go back to their more episodic nature of season 1, Peeper's character development from being in fear of Hater to standing up to him, the (even slower) character development of Hater becoming a good guy-- all great, fantastic things that really heightened the show for me and spun the status quo on its head!
But... yeah. Aside from those highs? The Wander-Hater help swoon Dominator plot was just a very, very sour low.

in another life i can see jolyne and hermes meeting cause hermes is running track as a scholarship at the local university and jolyne shows up to talk to the admissions department about transferring from the community college to the uni for her bachelors and yeah. i imagine it’d be funny and silly. jolyne probably gets lost and gets dysfunctional about it and hermes helps her. ughghj;

I love how so many ctommy designs are just covered in mementos. Tubbo's compass. Sweaters and scarves made from friend's wool. Wilbur's jacket. Scraps of the l'manburg flag. Ranboo's allium. Tubbo's bandana. White hairs to match Wilbur's. But underneath it all, that same red shirt.

Season 3 of The Good Doctor is becoming unbearable. All because of Carly btw I used to like her when she first started to become a regular character, now I hate her and everything she does.
Like her relationship with Shaun is so one sided! Shaun has proven to be the most understanding, loyal, honest, decent and kind human being on the face of the earth, and she just takes, takes and takes from him. She has yet to do one selfless thing for her boyfriend and it's driving me insane! What's killing me is that it's written like it's fine, like if her selfishness was a plot point, I would watch it in silence, but it's not!
If you don't watch the show but want to get mad with me, I'm gonna list the things they've done for each other under the cut
Things Shaun has done for Carly:
Gone on a "proper date", to a restaurant full of people even though he didn't like it.
Forced himself to be physically close to her (that was also for him I guess)
Forced himself to get over his aversion for touching more than one thing at a time.
Forced himself to hold her hand even tho he explicitly said he didn't like doing, just because to her, words weren't enough.
Forced himself to be intimate with her so they could have sex at some point. This was done on her terms, whenever she wanted, not when Shaun was ready.
Accepted that Carly didn't want her friends to meet him because they "will think you're weird" (I'm paraphrasing)
Went back to living alone, getting rid of his best friend roomate, who is a girl (granted, they're going to be endgame i think but the characters don't know this lol)
Accepted understandingly when it was her the one that wasn't ready to have sex.
Got slightly obsessed with "improving at sex" so she could have an orgasm.
Things Carly has done for Shaun:
Research ways to improve intimacy that have worked with autistic people (the only good thing she's ever done but I insist she only did it because she wanted to have sex).
Forced him to do things he explicitly said he was uncomfortable doing, just because "that's how you show closeness" (You maybe, you dickhead!)
Got new sheets, matress and lights on her room so Shaun wouldn't have sensory problems when being there (would have been a nice selfless act if she hadn't thrown it back on his face the second things still got too much for him).
Got angry at Shaun for having to leave a situation that was making him uncomfortable and demanded that he'd try again immediatly.
Did the exact same thing Shaun did, in almost the same situation, but expected understanding from him (he of course, was understanding)
Asked him to be honest only to immediately get angry at his honesty (although she apologized later, which I appreciate).
Asked Shaun to not be so close to Lea, his best friend.
Made a bit of a big deal about the fact that she didn't have an orgasm the first time they had sex, being Shaun's first time ever...
I hate herrrrr dfkjdfg

Rowling isn't denying holocaust. She just pointed out that burning of transgender health books is a lie as that form of cosmetic surgery didn't exist. But of course you knew that already, didn't you?
I was thinking I'd probably see one of you! You're wrong :) Let's review the history a bit, shall we?
In this case, what we're talking about is the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft, or in English, The Institute of Sexology. This Institute was founded and headed by a gay Jewish sexologist named Magnus Hirschfeld. It was founded in July of 1919 as the first sexology research clinic in the world, and was run as a private, non-profit clinic. Hirschfeld and the researchers who worked there would give out consultations, medical advice, and even treatments for free to their poorer clientele, as well as give thousands of lectures and build a unique library full of books on gender, sexuality, and eroticism. Of course, being a gay man, Hirschfeld focused a lot on the gay community and proving that homosexuality was natural and could not be "cured".
Hirschfeld was unique in his time because he believed that nobody's gender was either one or the other. Rather, he contended that everyone is a mixture of both male and female, with every individual having their own unique mix of traits.
This leads into the Institute's work with transgender patients. Hirschfeld was actually the one to coin the term "transsexual" in 1923, though this word didn't become popular phrasing until 30 years later when Harry Benjamin began expanding his research (I'll just be shortening it to trans for this brief overview.) For the Institute, their revolutionary work with gay men eventually began to attract other members of the LGBTA+, including of course trans people.
Contrary to what Anon says, sex reassignment surgery was first tested in 1912. It'd already being used on humans throughout Europe during the 1920's by the time a doctor at the Institute named Ludwig Levy-Lenz began performing it on patients in 1931. Hirschfeld was at first opposed, but he came around quickly because it lowered the rate of suicide among their trans patients. Not only was reassignment performed at the Institute, but both facial feminization and facial masculization surgery were also done.
The Institute employed some of these patients, gave them therapy to help with other issues, even gave some of the mentioned surgeries for free to this who could not afford it! They spoke out on their behalf to the public, even getting Berlin police to help them create "transvestite passes" to allow people to dress however they wanted without the threat of being arrested. They worked together to fight the law, including trying to strike down Paragraph 175, which made it illegal to be homosexual. The picture below is from their holiday party, Magnus Hirschfeld being the gentleman on the right with the fabulous mustache. Many of the other people in this photo are transgender.

[Image ID: A black and white photo of a group of people. Some are smiling at the camera, others have serious expressions. Either way, they all seem to be happy. On the right side, an older gentleman in glasses- Magnus Hirschfeld- is sitting. He has short hair and a bushy mustache. He is resting one hand on the shoulder of the person in front of him. His other hand is being held by a person to his left. Another person to his right is holding his shoulder.]
There was always push back against the Institute, especially from conservatives who saw all of this as a bad thing. But conservatism can't stop progress without destroying it. They weren't willing to go that far for a good while. It all ended in March of 1933, when a new Chancellor was elected. The Nazis did not like homosexuals for several reasons. Chief among them, we break the boundaries of "normal" society. Shortly after the election, on May 6th, the book burnings began. The Jewish, gay, and obviously liberal Magnus Hirschfeld and his library of boundary-breaking literature was one of the very first targets. Thankfully, Hirschfeld was spared by virtue of being in Paris at the time (he would die in 1935, before the Nazis were able to invade France). His library wasn't so lucky.
This famous picture of the book burnings was taken after the Institute of Sexology had been raided. That's their books. Literature on so much about sexuality, eroticism, and gender, yes including their new work on trans people. This is the trans community's Alexandria. We're incredibly lucky that enough of it survived for Harry Benjamin and everyone who came after him was able to build on the Institute's work.

[Image ID: A black and white photo of the May Nazi book burning of the Institute of Sexology's library. A soldier, back facing the camera, is throwing a stack of books into the fire. In the background of the right side, a crowd is watching.]
As the Holocaust went on, the homosexuals of Germany became a targeted group. This did include transgender people, no matter what you say. To deny this reality is Holocaust denial. JK Rowling and everyone else who tries to pretend like this isn't reality is participating in that evil. You're agreeing with the Nazis.
But of course, you knew that already, didn't you?
Edit: Added image IDs. I apologize to those using screen readers for forgetting them. Please reblog this version instead.
