Hey Re-Animator peps, how would y’all feel if I told y’all I have an Au headcanon thing where Herbert and Dan exist in the same universe as the Hannibal TV series?

Idk with the amount of ludacris over the top murders that exist in the show I feel like it’d be interesting if Herbert and Dan also existed there, and like- people just assume all the evidence related to Herbert reviving people is bullshit and he’s crazy.

So like one day Dan and Herbert are chilling at home and then the news starts going on about the “Murder Husbands” and their disappearance. While Dan and Herbert just go “shit why does that sound like us a little...” or something.

One time my baby brother and I were playing golf outside the apartment when we were kids but we were playing with metal baseball bats instead of golf clubs

I was too close to my brother and he hit me in the eye with the metal bat trying to swing it

I got a black eye and shit from it lol

I also accidentally hooked my older brother's back with a fishing hook one time and was yanking the shit out of it :/

To be honest I have three brothers, and we were wild as hell as kids. So I understand getting into painful shenanigans with eachother.

My own younger brothers were in baseball when they were younger and used metal bats when playing games and practicing. So when you mentioned getting hit by that made me imagine the metal bat sound when it hits something. It made me flinch because that had to be painful! The fishing story also sounded painful like y'ouch!

The stories sound like they were just accidents though. That happens a lot I can vouch for that. Especially when we were all kids. So I don't think you're a danger to them accidents happen.

On of the less intuitive things about love, I've found, of any kind, is the importance of needing things.

I didn't realize it until recently, but I've always seen love as something requiring sacrifice, selflessness, patience, and generosity- to ask for nothing is to be the best person I can be, small and quiet and never in the way, always happy and helpful, self-sufficient and present when desired.

It's only as an adult, now, that I'm beginning to see the selfishness of wanting nothing.

I cut my friend's hair in my kitchen the other day. They wanted a trim and I had the skills, so I offered, and was genuinely excited when they stopped hesitating over "bothering me" and took me up on it. It was a peaceful afternoon, and we had tea and chatted for an hour or more.

My brother and I shared popcorn at the movies a while ago. When I came time to pay, I pulled my card out like a wild western sheriff and slapped it on the machine before he could fight me for it first. The satisfaction was delightful.

Someone called me crying on the phone the other day. Kept apologizing for disturbing me at work, talking about how they were bothering me on my lunch break. I was telling the truth when I told them that really, I was flattered and honored and relieved, knowing that if they were hurting I would know, that I didn't have to worry in silence. It felt good to hear them slowly come down, and to know that they knew it would be better soon, and to hear them laugh wetly on the other end. We're getting together for a visit next week.

It's hard to need things, if you've trained yourself not to. It's hard to want things, when you don't know how to want anymore. Trusting people is difficult, and so is relying on them, but I don't know where I'd be without the people who rely on me.

I've heard a lot of people say, "Nobody will love you unless you love yourself". I've had a lot of thoughts about it. It's not right, but it's not wrong, either, I think.

"Nobody will love you unless you love yourself"... I've always taken that to mean, "You will not be lovable until you develop a positive view of yourself as a person".

Now, I think it's sort of inside-out.

"Nobody will love you unless you love yourself"... because nobody can show their love to you in a way that you can accept until you treat yourself kindly, and learn what you need, and what you want, and how to ask for it, and then give that vulnerability away.

Love, for me, is someone I ask for a ride to the airport. Whether they end up doing this or not is irrelevant.

It's not needy, or selfish, or taking up energy. It's giving the gift of being wanted, and needed, and thought of. It's giving someone the security of being part of someone's life.

I love doctor Ashwini Ray. Ze is the PARENT of the fiction podcast for artificial (intelligence) consciousness. Like HERA (358) wish she had a reclusive scientist that would rather spent hir time writing fanfiction that talking to people.

Like I love how supportive ze is of Tumnus, like congratulating her on developing her own plans, her own feelings, her own children. Supporting her in every step of the way, taking the time to listen to her doubts and inqueries.

Damn ze is the parent *I* wish I have.

And Ashwini does all this, while also feeling a bit guilty about hir shortcomings- the whole "I didn't expect friendship" / "that might have been my fault" conversation between hir and Tumnus.

And still ze gets to court an amazing cook-nutritionist. Amazing.

Ze gets to create hir own relationships, Jackson, Jess and Roger. And ze does all that while doing non-corporate sanctioned science.

And ze is just so positive to? Like the whole, even if we are here desolate on the moon, you still feel the magnificence of the universe?" and hir response with "absolutely". Though I don't think ashwini deals with absolutes.

as a bi person, the bisexual flag brings me infinite joy and always puts a smile on my face, however as a person who has a Passion for Graphic Design, that undersaturated shade of purple infuriates me when it's used digitally

like, on an actual flag - which was its original purpose - it looks great!

those look fine! lovely, even! with the semi-transparent fabric, the way it catches the sunlight, it looks beautiful!

but now look at how it looks digitally

the pink and blue are so vibrant compared to the sad, lonely lavender!

and let's look at this statement from Michael Page, the creator of the bi flag:

(sidenote: he created this flag in 1998, so if his takes on bisexuality is different from yours, it's okay to notice that! a lot has changed since the 90s when it comes to lived experiences and the way we describe them. but, it's also important to respect his thoughts about this and the way he presented them, even if today, we'd probably not say that bi people "blend unnoticeably into both the gay/lesbian and straight communities.")

so in pantone colors, the pink is 226 C, the blue is 286 C, and the purple of the flag is 258 C.

but...here's the deal

Michael talks here about how the key to understanding the symbolism is to know that the purple blends into both the pink and blue. and on a physical flag, I think you can see that!

but digitally, it absolutely does not blend. it clashes badly, and looks oddly separate from the other two colors.

which got me wondering...what purple do you get if you actually blend 226 C and 286 C?

oh! oh, my god.

look at that! look at how nicely it fits between those colors!

look at it next to the original color scheme! look at how much more vibrant the purple is!

and friends. this is just blending through rgb! you get even more purple variations when you use other color spaces!

let's compare all of them:

(top: original, lab. middle: lrgb, lch. bottom: rgb, hsl)

look at all of the different purple options you can get just by combining these two colors!

if you want almost too-vibrant saturation, you can go hsl, if you want something more relaxed that's closer to the original, you can go lab or lrgb. and if you want to split the difference, lch is bright and violet, while rgb is there with its saturated but darker purple.

anyway, I guess I don't really have a point here? this isn't so much an informational post as it is Me Getting Weird About Colors, but I think it is a useful lesson about how colors look very different on screens compared to how they look on objects in real life.

and sometimes, I think it's okay to compensate for that.

out of all of these, this is my favorite bi flag:

it's the one where the colors were blended in lab color space. for me, the lighter, softer purple is close enough to the original bi flag purple, while also feeling like a smoother blend of the blue and pink

but that's just me! and it might not even look the same to you, since every screen is different, because technology is a nightmare!

anyway, thank you for coming with me on this colorful journey! I will now retreat back to inkscape and make pained sounds about inkstitch gradients until something tangible pulls me back into reality
