So a lot of what I’m about to say has to do with my preference for character driven storytelling and is pretty much just me putting down my thoughts. Feel free to leave your thoughts on this but don’t take this too seriously
I think a lot of the side characters from Danny Phantom are hard to incorporate into a DP x DC crossover, especially on their own
Because most of them are pretty normal teenagers and are harder to fit into a superhero story. They tend to be somewhat flat and their interesting traits tend to be how the relate to Danny or each other
Like, I’m not inherently interested in Paulina just being in DC because she’s a pretty shallow popular girl stereotype. There’s not a lot to her that makes her an interesting addition on her own to the setting, which is probably why a lot of people default to essentially make being from amity Park a superpower. I don’t think it adds a lot personally, but that’s a completely different rant
Dash being in DC on his own isn’t that interesting because he’s the archetype of a jock and a bully. So to compensate you see people make him insanely competent like the rest of Amity Park, or actually give him a superpower.
But the thing is, their actual character gets neglected to make that happen, which is kind of disappointing
I just think it would be nice to see who they are as a person matter more. Paulina, spoiled former popular girl now living in the real world on her own for the first time? Coming to terms with her popularity no longer mattering? Or chasing that high by trying to get famous because she needs that external validation
Dash, jock and former bully. He’s living a life where the fact he played high school football doesn’t matter, he doesn’t get the specialized treatment that it used to give him. Or he’s playing at a higher level and where he was really good before he now is dealing with the fact that everyone else is just as talented. He’s no longer THE star quarterback. Or he’s unpacking his baggage regarding his former bullying. Internalized homophobia and coming to terms with his own sexuality? Actively trying to change for the better? Seeing his old behaviors in others and trying to do the right thing?
I just think who they are should impact the story if they’re involved. If you could change the name and I wouldn’t be able to tell who it is, then why should it be this character? What about the character makes them different in this role than inserting any other character? How does who they are affect their situation for better or for worse?
Let’s take an example: Paulina becoming a reporter in metropolis. Regardless of how good she might be at the job, what character traits does she have that might affect how she does. Well, first, she was popular, that’s her big thing. She knows how to interact with people, make them like her when it suits her interests. This probably means she turns on the charm when doing interviews but is maybe a little bitchy the rest of the time. Based on her personality in the show she would probably gravitate to the society pages, wanting to cover stories involving the rich and famous, galas and all that.
See, in this example, she can still be good at her job but her character traits affect how she does things. She’s a more complicated character, and she might not handle things the same way Lois Lane does, but she can still use her abilities to get the job done through charm and manipulation. This could also lead to conflict because she can be rude to people she doesn’t need anything from, which if she does that to the wrong person, putting on the charm and batting her eyes at them isn’t going to work
Again this is largely based on my preference for character based storytelling. Characters and who they are matter and are what drives the plot. This is in contrast to plot based storytelling which is events happen to the character without their thoughts and decisions impacting the story. Plot based storytelling is an older style which you see a lot in old legends and fairytales, where things just kind of happen to the character. It’s not inherently better or worse but modern taste overall leans more towards character driven stories

the webisode “An Hexclusive Invitation” aka faybelle’s introduction webisode pisses me off so bad
and it’s all because of how they introduce her. hopper comes up to her and they proceed to have this unnatural sounding conversation where they force-feed information in regards to faybelle. which yeah a lot of media does but ever after high literally has NARRATORS, CHARACTERS THAT SERVE AS PLOT DEVICES AS AN EXCUSE TO SPOON FEED EXPOSITION, and yet they DIDN’T USE THEM instead opting to talk through the characters like bro ARE YOU SERIOUS???
instead we need hopper asking, “Hey are you Faybelle Thorn daughter of the dark fairy from Sleeping Beauty and head cheerhexer at the school Ever After High from hit series Ever After High?,” and faybelle telling him, “Yes, I am Faybelle Thorn daughter of the dark fairy from Sleeping Beauty and head cheerhexer who attends the school Ever After High from hit Mattel franchise Ever After High and i’m an evil character.”

Kipperlily's grades are incredible all the way through. But what you notice is that her accomplishments. In freshman and sophomore year are pretty lackluster. They chose adventures that were not that impressive.
They just wanted to succeed. So they picked easy adventures.
I feel like this is a pretty big reason for the conflict between the bad kids and Rat grinders. Especially kipperlily. It's clear she wants to be a great adventurer. But lacks confidence. While the bad kids seemingly just fall into adventures. I mean they probably don't seem to motivate to kipperlily. Some of them flake on classes. And they never even went to the far heaven woods. Which probably seemed like they were just blowing it off. Then prompocalype roll around and this kids who didn't even seem to be trying save the day?
It's basically the reason a really shy person. Who is self conscious is going to resent a super confident person. A person who wants to be an adventurer but is too scared? Is going to resent people who just seem to do it?

I really do hope that the upcoming elder scrolls game includes “immortal” characters from Skyrim or other titles (Neloth, Serana, Teldryn, etc) instead of starting on a completely clean slate.
When games have little character bits about previous titles in them and uses that to build more of a story, it’s really entertaining.
This can look like:
•Character from title 1 had an interest in magic, in title 2 they become an evil magician.
•Character death is implied in title 2, but their family can be found and introduced as new characters.
•Child character from title 1 is seen in title 2 as an adult with a good story.
•A book, item, artefact or overheard dialogue referencing a character from a previous title, shedding light on what might’ve occurred with them after the events of title 1.
It would be awfully satisfying if they made Neloth some sort of wicked character, he deserves that for all of this troubles.
On the other hand, I think it’s very unlikely that characters and bits from Skyrim specifically will be revisited, though it’s nice to think of. Ramble over.

what’s ur favorite way to design cove in each of the steps
so freakin excited you asked LMAO
step 2
i switch between the two hairs, bc i like em both really, hair 2 more than the other i think but yeah and i sometimes, most often, skip the glasses. again, depends on the aesthetic im going for or if i like the options
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and i also switch between the 2 shirts, depends on how i feel n how emo i want my cove to be LOL and i'll never not give him the black jacket. I JUS DON'T LIKE THE PINK ONE it's not bad, it's grown on me. but not grown on me enough
step 3
fucking love my emo cove. you already know ehehe so i usually give him the black shirt/cargo shorts combo. when i give him the outfit in the 2nd pic, i either give him those white sweats or the green cargo shorts.
you can't see it in the first 3 pics, but i give him the helix always. i freakin love it. love sticking piercings in cove im sorry (progressively emo-ifying cove...)
also switch between cove's hair, 2 and 3, because i love the long hair (again, very obvious by now haha)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
n then i give him the pink swim trunks bc i always feel bad for not giving him the pink jacket in step 2
n then i switch between that formal shirt n the patterned one, i usually go for the plain one but i've been okay with the patterned one n will settle on it most the time lately (used to think that was kinda ugly too LOL has anyone noticed im picky)
step 4
i switch between the 2 hairs, but i usually go for the 3rd hair and the outfit in the 2nd pic. he looks kinda punk in it n i love it
n again, sometimes put him in glasses
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ALSO WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT HOW FUCKING SEXY HE LOOKS IN THESE GODDAMN SUNGLASSES. I WISH HE SHOWED UP IN THESE MORE
if i saw him on the street, even if i didn't know whim i'd be shaking violently trying not to jump him. what the fuck. who let him leave the house looking like that. fucking sex demon

On of the less intuitive things about love, I've found, of any kind, is the importance of needing things.
I didn't realize it until recently, but I've always seen love as something requiring sacrifice, selflessness, patience, and generosity- to ask for nothing is to be the best person I can be, small and quiet and never in the way, always happy and helpful, self-sufficient and present when desired.
It's only as an adult, now, that I'm beginning to see the selfishness of wanting nothing.
I cut my friend's hair in my kitchen the other day. They wanted a trim and I had the skills, so I offered, and was genuinely excited when they stopped hesitating over "bothering me" and took me up on it. It was a peaceful afternoon, and we had tea and chatted for an hour or more.
My brother and I shared popcorn at the movies a while ago. When I came time to pay, I pulled my card out like a wild western sheriff and slapped it on the machine before he could fight me for it first. The satisfaction was delightful.
Someone called me crying on the phone the other day. Kept apologizing for disturbing me at work, talking about how they were bothering me on my lunch break. I was telling the truth when I told them that really, I was flattered and honored and relieved, knowing that if they were hurting I would know, that I didn't have to worry in silence. It felt good to hear them slowly come down, and to know that they knew it would be better soon, and to hear them laugh wetly on the other end. We're getting together for a visit next week.
It's hard to need things, if you've trained yourself not to. It's hard to want things, when you don't know how to want anymore. Trusting people is difficult, and so is relying on them, but I don't know where I'd be without the people who rely on me.
I've heard a lot of people say, "Nobody will love you unless you love yourself". I've had a lot of thoughts about it. It's not right, but it's not wrong, either, I think.
"Nobody will love you unless you love yourself"... I've always taken that to mean, "You will not be lovable until you develop a positive view of yourself as a person".
Now, I think it's sort of inside-out.
"Nobody will love you unless you love yourself"... because nobody can show their love to you in a way that you can accept until you treat yourself kindly, and learn what you need, and what you want, and how to ask for it, and then give that vulnerability away.
Love, for me, is someone I ask for a ride to the airport. Whether they end up doing this or not is irrelevant.
It's not needy, or selfish, or taking up energy. It's giving the gift of being wanted, and needed, and thought of. It's giving someone the security of being part of someone's life.

Loved this scene in the atla live action because right. Zuko could easily beat that woman. He could drop her without thinking about it. But she’s not who he’s after, it’s Aang that he wants, and despite denying it, Zuko still has compassion for innocent lives. So even when it would be easier to just punch her in the face and move on, Zuko lets her beat him back because he doesn’t really want to hurt people, he just wants to go home

leverage is so fucking funny. man manages to find the most mentally ill and neurodivergent group of thieves on the market + an even more mentally ill guy whose literal job description was trying to chase all of them, and forces them into a found family speed-run by trying to blow them all up. they lowkey stage a full fucking country wide coup and are like eh 🤷 just another wednesday. this might be a fun place to vacation tho i guess. sophie shows up to her own funeral twice. they're so good at convincing people of their shit that they make a guy's body start reacting to an illness he doesn't have because it isn't real. go completely out on a limb and basically hand this one guy a new password for his computer so they can get into it and he goes with it. parker and hardison have straight up just "fake it 'till you make it"d into the fbi without even attempting to cover their tracks beyond just These Two Guys. half their clients never asked to be their clients and don't know they're their clients, and the other half are random people who find them who fuckin knows how, meanwhile no government agency can track them down without selling their soul to sterling. they make a point to have a dramatic scene w a Big Bad Shadowy Government Guy who doesn't actually get caught or brought to justice or anything telling them he's going to hunt them all down, and in any other show this would probably earn at least a minor arc later on but he literally never shows up again. an entire season finale hinged on a cake and a bunch of clams. they accidentally made eliot a celebrity not once, not twice, but three times. parker blew up her foster parents' house when she was like. nine. and it's hardly a footnote. hardison is just casually an artistic prodigy but it's only ever brought up for the most background of background gags. eliot's biggest beef with parker and hardison for like two and a half seasons is that they won't stop making weird food with lasers and refuse to realize they can't make a decent beer to save their lives. sophie's immediate response to being shot is to call her shooter a wanker. there's a character who has literally killed a man with a mop and they had the audacity to only put her in one episode.

Yall need to interact with fanfiction author's more.
So. After the ddos attack on ao3.
I was encouraged to write more comments and make my love known to fanfic writers.
I dont really like commenting. Because im a bit shy and soooo lazy.
Now though. I am writing more comments. And dude. This is so heartwarming. Ya'll need to treat writers better. They are doing the lord's work.
Take for an example, couple of days prior, i was searching for something interesting to read, and found an oneshot quite compelling.
I read it. At the end of it, i was blown away by how good it was. It promised me something and it went beyond my expectations. But then i saw a crime, zero fucking comments!
At that moment, i wasn't feeling up to writing a comment. Because, normally i like to write huge paragraphs. But because im lazy i decided to be brief.
Next day, the author answered that the comment lift their mood for the whole day.
That warmed my heart.
Duuuuuuuude! Write comments! Suport the writers of the fics you like! No need to be something super elaborate. Just give your thoughts. Freak out. Ramble. Ask something. Make theories. Compliment. Make a joke about how you wished to give kudos every chapter but ao3 sucks(not true bby) and won't let you.
Truly. Just. Comment. It can make someone's day. And that is part of the apeal of writing fics. Interacting with people.
Just give love to fanfic writers yall. They deserve this and so much more.
