have you considered that vampire (human) is actually much lighter even than a human child, accounting for how in some mythologies vampires are able to levitate or move with superhuman speed?
excellent, excellent. if we do not want to commit to the destructive power of fifty thousand nukes we should examine other possibilities.
the density of a human person is apparently very near water (1000 kg/m^3), so a human weighing 60kg has a volume of 0.060 m^3. what if the vampire (human) weighs the same as the vampire (bat)? that would give vampire (human) a density of 0.0024 kg/m^3.
things that are denser than our extremely light vampire:
air at stp (~1.2 kg/m^3)
air at the top of mount everest (~0.55 kg/m^3)
helium at stp (~0.17 kg/m^3)
hydrogen, the lightest gas, at stp (~0.089 kg/m^3)
air on mars, mostly carbon dioxide (~0.015 kg/m^3)
six times less dense than the atmosphere on mars! no wonder they don't show up in the mirror

i don't think early-series hera gets enough credit for how funny she is. "scans do indicate a percentage drop in the tank's capacity that is commensurate with the amount officer eiffel could stuff into a crewmember duffel bag"? she saw him do it. she probably talked to him while he did it. it's the tonal dissonance between highly technical phrasing and a very blunt observation. like when eiffel asks her for her top five 'stick it to the man' songs and she asks him things like 'top five lanthanides?' until he says "you're just yanking my chain, aren't you?" and she responds by quoting anarchy in the uk at him. sure, sometimes there are things she genuinely doesn't get and/or would express differently, but the way she frames it is playing with the false expectations people have of her. she knows exactly what she's doing.

I think when people talk about things like desirability, they can miss the deeper point of why it can be important to analyze why people are seen as undesirable. It isn't just that a type of person is just... not hot... but often, it's the dehumanization of a person based on marginalized features.
For instance, I had a conversation with somebody about disability portrayal in media, and we had agreed that, historically, disability had been portrayed as a horrific ordeal. However, I think they missed the point as to why the "undesirable disabled" character was so appealing to a broader audience. The idea that disability is other, inhuman, and something that depersonalizes somebody from society is partly why those ideas were and are prevalent in mainstream media and culture. It is the idea that "nobody likes you. Nobody needs you. Nobody wants you" because of the person's marginalized body or experience or whatever it may be.
It isn't some superficial "oh why aren't I seen as pretty by everybody?" It is the knowledge that you are portrayed as undesirable in this way because it is a way to separate you from everybody else. It isn't about beauty, nor is it a selfish desire to be wanted by somebody. It is the desire to be seen as a person - an equal, regardless of who desires you or who does not.

the world is so fucked up and i can't help but think the damage is irreparable when i see people talking about how unusual and prudish it is to wait six to ten dates before having sex with someone. ten dates??? roughly like twenty five hours of interaction????? ten old timer burgers and mango iced teas from chilis equals sex?????? the possibility of pregnancy, STDs, emotional devastation, lifelong consequences, not to mention just straight up the possibility of getting murdered, with a STRANGER you have hung out with for maybe like two months???? and that's a LONG TIME???? and if you feel weird about that and don't want to do that that makes you NOT HETEROSEXUAL????? THATS AN ORIENTATION???? BECAUSE ITS SO OUTSIDE OF THE NORM OF HUMAN BEHAVIOR ????? i hate all of you i hate you i hate you i hate you every day i hate and I hate and I hate you

peace and love in the cod fandom if we learned to stop getting personally attached/invested in the voice actors and intrinsically associating them with characters we love

Listen i just want to preface this by saying I don't even personally hate Tommy, but that's not really the point i want to make so here goes nothing.
The way a lot of people act as if it's impossible to dislike him because the characters have moved on so so should we, right? and that's the thing right here, as poc we're always being told to move on. We can't express our feelings, we can't hold grudges, we can't complain about issues without making it something more than it is, we always have to just... move on.
I know people are going to say it's just a show, it's not that serious, but the issues it touches on and the way fandom speaks on those issues are.
I've seen a lot of comparisons between Tommy and other mains, how each of them are flawed and have screwed up one way or another, and you're right, but it's still unfair to compare him to them. We've seen each of the main characters experience guilt, or be ashamed of their action, we've seen them apologise, put in the work to actually grow, and they have. There's not enough time in an episode for us to see that for side characters. In this case, Tommy didn't do any of the above and that's normal, he was a plot device to show some very real societal issues, and especially what people of colour/women might go through in the workplace, and once he served his purpose he didn't get much more beyond a few scenes where it seemed like everything was fine between him and chim/hen. It would be more appropriate to compare him to the buckley parents, (who appeared in more or less the same amount of episodes) like if people suddendly started saying no one is allowed to hate them because they got their redemption, their kids more or less forgave them, they more or less tried to be better parents. And yet it's still not enough for a lot of people, because how they treated their children, the shit they've said to them, hits a little too close to home for a lot of people and so no matter what the show says or does, they'll still be mostly hated by the audience, and that's more than okay. But if margaret buckley is your favourite character than by all means be my guest. And listen, i love this show, it's all about hope, and it means everyone gets a redemption arc, as short as it is (sometimes even just a sentence lol), but we won't always be satisfied with these arcs, especially if they don't feel proportional to the hurt the characters may have caused to our mains, so we'll all have different reactions to them.
I swear liking a morally ambiguous/grey character says absolutely nothing about you, but making excuses for them, antagonising people who might dislike them (for good reasons) or acting like suddenly triggers don't exist for people, does say something about you. One of my favourite characters is literally the worst person ever, an actual bigot, but i won't ever write essays about why people are not allowed to dislike him actually because he's my babygirl.. i very much understand why people would.
All of this to say, everyone will have different opinions about Tommy. Some might love him, some will be completely neutral or at worst slightly uncomfortable/bothered by him, and some will straight up hate him, and all of these are fine. Live and let live, love whoever you want to love, and hate whoever you want to hate, but please stop trying to dictate how others should feel, i'm begging. And this really does go both ways.

so I can't actually look at your taskmaster posts straight on bc it's like looking at some sort of like higher being and I'm simply not strong enough. But I still want to ask you about it bc I really like TM!
Do you have a favorite season? A favorite contestant? Do you have thoughts on Liza Tarbuck's final task?
asdfa;j;kl anon i'm so sorry for the unhinged tweets but this is so funny to me. how do you watch the show. liza literally said alex had "a greedy bottom" on air & i HAVE to assume alex enjoyed this because it aired! on the television show which alex executively produces! god fucking bless.
also THE TASK was to "tell the taskmaster you love him in the most meaningful way" and at no point did anyone feel the need to pause & explain why having alex sit on a cake would be meaningful to greg, presumably because every single episode prior to this one had already made it perfectly clear.
there are such delightful moments in basically every series and if i talked about them all we would genuinely be here all day but here's some quick standouts:
series 5
the songs about rosalind were SUCH bangers? mark & nish's in particular was a triumph, loved when they revealed their musical talents. overall greg's dynamic with nish was SO funny. i really enjoy when they have secret contestant-specific tasks & want every single cheeky text revealed. sally is also... so hot, my god. nail that watercooler.
series 7
everyone had such a good dynamic, greg had a fantastic time, rhod tried to strip alex every episode, just chaotic as hell. james absolutely breaking in studio, phil leaning into the dick, everyone was game for anything & it really gelled wonderfully. sidebar the nearly-nude picture of greg is GREAT, i won't let anyone say anything otherwise.
series 15
"this is a show about pedantry" frankie is so correct and his delivery is impeccable, he made me cry-laugh so many times. ivo is a hopeful puppy and i loved it every time anyone suggested he needed a refund from eton. mae is obviously the hottest of them all but kiell subbing in for coc was also a delight. a lovely cast.
series 16
how are the sues so adorable???? i love that they became bffs immediately. also susan is the CUTEST, her outfits were incredible, and rada was obviously worth all thirty grand from the way she mimed every idiom to perfection. julian's dynamic with alex, also unmatched. genuinely the unhinged energy in this one was off the charts.

Will we ever see the camp and the campers again? Even if it's just in the background?
I don't think so, at least I have no plans to. The comic is much about exploring the concept of loss and learning to appreciate the time we have with people despite them not being a permanent part of our lives. Friends come and go, we break up with people, and loved ones die. But to fear this so much that we never make a connection with others is no way to live, we have to learn to meter that risk for the rewards of being loved.
Adam has to learn he can love again, and to do so he must fully let go of the man he lost. Adam sees solutions everywhere, but his partner is gone. No amount of research, time travel, magic, or rebirth can bring his partner back.
Steve has to accept that his condition inherently will limit his time with others, and he needs to learn how to not let this stop him from connecting with people regardless. He also needs to learn he is capable of positively influencing others, and that's worth making himself vulnerable for.
Because of what the characters represent, need to confront within themselves, and ultimately need to overcome there's a few things that I don't want to write.
1: Steve will never regain his memories
2: he will never be able to fully control his time travel
3: he will never get to see most of the people he has loved again.
This includes the campers, the pirates, everyone so far besides the vampires we've met. While of course I love these characters all deeply, I think they've fully served their narrative purpose, and offering them a return will undercut my themes.

"AI can make art without human interaction because at the end of the day, it does exactly what humans do with art - break each new piece of art down to the quantifiable basis vectors that you've implicitly constructed about 'art in general' and then faithfully reproduce a new observation of that 'art in general' by smoothly interpolating between observed instantiations of those basis vectors.
You know, like how humans do"

I hate the roulette of human interaction and the often ironic ways that people are in conjunction with your relationship to them. People you are close to, look up to, or even somewhat know end up disappointing or hurting you. Complete strangers end up making your day. In the past week, I've met two amazing strangers and a bunch of not amazing known people. Someone who was just doing their job and had no obligation to engage me in conversation was actually enthusiastic in chatting with me a little bit, and how flattered they looked when I complimented their accessories was such a mood boost. Another person who was also just doing their job noticed that I was sad because the place had something out of stock that I wanted and they could have ignored me, seeing as I wasn't making an issue of it, but they didn't. They told me what I could do to get that item later before it goes out of stock again AND engaged me in friendly casual conversation about flavours. AND complimented one of my Signature Accessories. Like. Not to be weird, but I wish I could tell a stranger "bro ur so cool, ily." Is it weird to instead say something like, "you made my day, thanks for talking to me"? Idk. Need to find the most socially acceptable but still strong way to tell someone "YOU ARE AWESOME I CANNOT IMAGINE HOW EXHAUSTED YOU MUST BE AND YOU STILL WENT OUT OF YOUR WAY TO BE KIND TO ME."
Having a moment.
