Fair warning this isn't my usual sandbox (giggles at the pun, sorry), but I feel the need to address something that has been getting on my nerves about the new series on Netflix Dead Boy Detectives.

That everyone is comparing it to Lockwood & Co.

Similar gets tossed around. A LOT.

And I think that comes from the fact that people are only familiar with one or the other and not both.

They see ghosts in England with trio of young teenagers, two boys and a girl and think "they're the same!"

Only that's where similarities end.

Lockwood & Co. is about a trio of ghost hunters operating illegally because they don't have an adult supervisor. They are all mediums of a sort (from what I gathered watching the show) and they can all see ghosts. Only the girl, Lucy can hear ghosts. Anthony and Georgie have only had the agency for about a year and are struggling.

Dead Boy Detectives is about two ghosts Edwin and Charles and their psychic friend, Crystal. The two boys have been together since Charles died in 1989 and are currently avoiding Death, Dream's (The Sandman) sister. Their goal is help ghosts move on, to solve their deaths so that they can be at peace.

Like Lockwood & Co. would hunt the Dead Boy Detectives, because that's what they do. Edwin and Charles would find them barbaric.

The Dead Boy Detectives actually like each other. Granted they have been together far longer then Lockwood & Co, thirty years to Anthony and Georgie's single year. Lockwood & Co. spend the entire first season (which adapted two books) lying to each other, talking bad about each other behind their backs and to their faces, and wouldn't trust the others as far as they can throw them.

But we keep being told in the series that they are the best agency because of the power of friendship. You're also basically shown any adult who tries to befriend any of them is the bad guy. And yes, I'm including Inspector Barnes in that.

While there are a couple of adults in DBD who aren't as they seem, but they do have two adults they can rely on on, Tragic Mick and Jenny the butcher.

Lockwood & Co. was canceled on Jan. 27th 2023 and Netflix picked up The Dead Boy Detectives (which was picked up originally by Max in April 2020 but they ultimately passed on it) on Feb. 24th 2023. Almost a whole month after the previous series was cancelled.

Plus anyone saying Netflix cancelled something because it was like something else, has never watched Netflix.

Their favorite thing to do is "Oh this popular? Here's twenty copies of that thing!"

I don't know what kind of numbers Lockwood & Co. got but in my opinion, the show wasn't that great. Plus as someone with photosensitive epilepsy let me tell you the bad lighting plus the ultra bright ghosts caused more than one headache.

They didn't set up the characters well, we got told more than we were shown, and there didn't seem to be any chemistry between the leads.

One thing in particular I wasn't a fan of was having the series backstory play out in the opening credits and if you blinked or looked away or even skipped them the plot doesn't make any sense.

But with DBD you have characters talking out their problems. You have their backstories told through clever flashbacks and even some spectacular animation. You have a moment between the two boys (which I won't spoil) that not only cements how much they care about each other. That despite everything they've been through, the jealousy of the other's interactions with the new people they meet, the fights, the terrifying cases they take, the people out to separate them, they are 100% it for each other (at the moment platonically though that could change).

This show has heart and charm and properly well-thought out villains and villainous characters.

They aren't the same and they really shouldn't be compared. Also... go watch Dead Boy Detectives. I really REALLY want to see Desire make an appearance!

Hello! It’s time for another “Take a Taste”! The series is about delicious food with my two paper dolls.

A delicious classic Shawarma Rice from "Mr. Shaw Shawarma" branch! 🌯🍖🍚😋 (A successful Shawarma food establishment → [CLICK ME!]) This one was gave it from my little bro, on Mar 24th, 2024; a day when the "Holy Week" ✝️🕯️ starts. I'm not supposed to eat meat-related (pork, beef, and chicken) dishes. But, here we are... 🤷‍♀️ All that aside, will this Shawarma Rice taste good to my mouth? Let's find out, right now!

Eh, you two? 😋 Also, I can't show ya the cover of the box because this was came from a fridge, so I have to reheat it before I chow down. 😅

• [3rd Image] Uh yeah! I can't eat without something to drink! Here's my cola on my red Nescafe mug! Looks like, a cup of joe wasn't the only liquid beverage we can pour. 🥤🙂

• Here's my first scope of the "Shawarma Rice"! Looks good, and how's the taste? Well, tastes great, however after a long fridge inside ❄️ and reheated from the stove 🔥, it somehow lost the "Shawarma" flavor. 😕 In short, it tastes slightly frozen. But hey, I can't help it though. And so do my paper dolls because we're so hungry! 🤤

• So hungry in fact, we're completely done our meal! As we as our iced-cold cola from my mug! 🍽️🥤😋 Hope you enjoyed our Large "Shawarma Rice" meal, eh?! 😊

• So overall, we've definitely worth our appetite! 😋 However, with a slightly lost of "Shawarma" flavor from the reheating stove looks like I'll have to order it by myself and re-review it, someday. 🤔 In the mean time, we're satisfied our taste buds, for now. 😋👍

• But wait, what about the "asking price"? 😮 Again, I'm not sure what my little brother gave me. I'm not sure if its "Classic" or "BBQ" because they're both taste liked "Shawarma", in my opinion speaking. 🤔

Reply to the post (those who are unable to reply for whatever reason can reblog) saying “sold” or “mine". It’s important you do this so we can see who claimed something first.

Keep a list of everything you claim (with the item number for each item). Once I’m done posting, please send me a message on the instant messenger.

Include the following information in your message:

Your email address for the invoice, the country you live in (for shipping purposes - we are shipping from Austria), the list of what you claimed (with the item numbers). Also please let me know if you want your order to be *open box* or *read to ship*. Open box simply means you want us to hang onto your items after you pay so that you can continue to add things from future sales to either meet the free shipping minimum or just so everything can be shipped together for convenience 😊

Week 2: February 20th-26th, 2023 // Lions and Tigers and… Lizards?

The beginning of this week has been slow and beautiful.  I drove Alissa and her friend Katy to the start of the South Coast Track at Cockle Creek, and found myself a nice little spot to set up the van for a couple nights.  It’s the first time in a long time where I’ve felt like I can really just “be.”

There’s nothing I have to do and there’s nowhere I have to be, and it feels wonderful.  My days have been filled with hours of reading, wandering around the beach, and staring mindlessly at the view from the comfort of my bed.  There’s no rush, no urgency, there’s just this beautiful feeling of pure existence, for no other purpose than to just exist.

Feb 22nd I finally went out on my first hike in Australia!  I got up at 6am to watch the sunrise from the beach + have breakfast, then I drove 10minutes up the road back to where I dropped Alissa and her friend off.  It was a beautiful ~16km round trip to Lions Rock at South Cape Bay and oh my goodness – when I say the view took my breath away… was such a beautiful spot to end at!  I’ll let the photos speak for themselves (even though they really don’t do the views any justice).  The whole trail covered a variety of landscape, from spidery archway trees, to vast open plains, to amazon/jungle like dense forests – it was truly a great introduction to Australia hiking.  Got to see my first snake (a black tiger snake) and many lizards, lots of cute birds, and cool plant life.

My favourite thing about this type of lifestyle is the people you meet – always so friendly and a wealth of knowledge for other experiences, always so eager to help you in any way you need!  I lucked out with having this super lovely older couple set up in their van next to me, Rab & Jude, who offered me food and a place to stay for when I’m in New South Whales, a map of the south coast, and plenty of destination recommendations.

Sunday was a lovely, slow and connected day – spending some time at the Mayfair Market in the morning, and making dinner with Alissa + her roommates.  We made lasagna, garlic bread, and a beet salad (made by Sam, who was inspired after Alissa and I spent the morning stating beets were an inferior vegetable and tasted like dirt lol).  It felt really nice to spend an evening with great company, eating great food, and having great conversations.  Feeling very grateful to these people for making Tassie feel like home and taking such great care of me in my first couple weeks here <3

Other fun updates: had my first bad stall on a hill... rubber was burnt... smells were bad... but I persevered and managed to get it eventually lol! On the plus side, my parallel parking game is getting much stronger 😎 Had my first van spider! Aaannd finally learned how to belay thanks to Annie teaching me!

These next couple weeks are going to be a combination of some more hiking adventures, getting back out in the van camping again, sorting out some minor van repairs, and (weather depending) getting out climbing on some real rocks for first time in years!

It's funny (if you can even call it that) how the greater GOP - dare I say the greater Dems too - are effectively trying to bully Nikki Haley into dropping out bc "there's no way she's gonna win the South Carolina primary," which mind you isn't until Feb 24th. Like ?? Has everyone just forgotten that Trump's eligibility is still under review? The Supreme Court is supposed to decide on Feb 8th, which is ofc over two weeks before the SC Primary. Now, I'm not saying that agree with all of Nikki Haley's proposed policies - like retirement age raised to 70? I'd rather actually kms thanks - but I'd much rather have her on the ticket than Trump or Biden. It's just so sick and twisted to me that the entire fucking country has just settled into the notion that it's gonna be a Trump v Biden rematch like ??? The only people who want that are the wrinkly old candidates themselves bc it would be a genuine nail biter to see who'd win since they're both so wildly disliked. At least if Haley were on the ticket there'd be a change to get rid of ol Genocide Joe. Like, sure there are still other candidates vying for the Dem nomination - and as much as I hate the fact that the incumbent seems to be the defacto nominee instead of having people actually compete for it - given that Biden won the New Hampshire primary by a landslide despite being a write in speaks volumes about where that party's at. And honestly? I don't think Dean Phillips would win anyway. He put his bid in wayy too late imo, and since he's running against the all powerful incumbent, he's hardly gotten any real screen time, so the public barely knows anything about it, if they know he exists at all. Digressing, I just think it'd be real neat if everyone just let Nikki Haley cook for a little, and see if the Supreme Court can actually make a decent ruling. Besides, even if Trump is somehow found to be a eligible and she doesn't win South Carolina, are you really going to tryn call the race after a measly Three states have weighed in? Completely discounting the millions of voters in the other 47 states? That's so fucking batty. The RNC tried to pull that shit after the NH primary and even Trump of all people was like "mmmm maybe Don't do that?" Like you wanna cry about a rigged election, just to turn around and rig it back to benefit you? Fuckin jank.

We havent even go yet but i could feel like its gonna be the favourite moment of my life with you. Like you & me + overseas, TOGETHER. Can you imagine?!

I cant wait to spend the full 7 days with you, sayang! Finally i get to sleep with you, like you could finally sleep properly! Cant wait to see you sleep, see you do ur night routine, morning routine like im there beside you, looking at you, ahhhhh ayang jom kahwin! Im really looking forward to it baby!!

Anthony’s Stupid Daily Blog (344): Fri 24th Feb 2023

I spent the evening redesigning a few of my tattoo ideas. One of the ideas I’ve had for a while is the door from The Twilight Zone with the Rod Serling quote “Being Like Everybody Is The Same As Being Nobody” plastered around it. However I now think it might look better if I get the one I have on my forearm of the Kiki’s Delivery Service quote “Follow Your Heart And Keep Smiling” removed and have this Twilight Zone one plastered where it used to be. I still like Kiki but the reason I got this phrase tattooed on my is because at the time I was desperate for a new tattoo and this phrase from the movie happened to be stuck in my mind at the time. Also it’s kind of hypocritical for a miserable fucker to have this adorned on my skin when I rarely ever smile and I follow my stomach more than my heart. Mam had Luna tonight and when my pizza and garlic bread arrived this evening I asked Luna if she wanted to try a piece of garlic bread which she did so I gave it to her before going upstairs to watch the wrestling. As the show was starting I heard Luna coming up the stairs and opened the door to see what she wanted. I heard her say to my Mam that she wanted to see me and Mam responded “you told me you wanted another piece of garlic bread” to which she angrily shot back “SHH!”. Inner Luna at the top of the stairs and she politely said “Hi Anthony, can I come in please?” and made her way into my room. I followed her in and she said “What are you watching? The wrestling? Oh that’s nice…can I have another piece of garlic bread please”. I of course let her have one which she wolfed down in about a minute and then helped herself to another…then another and by the end I only got to enjoy two pieces of my own garlic bread. As soon as it was all gone she stood up and said “Alright I’m going back downstairs now…I’m finished here”. The whole point of this blog was to attempt to be funny and interesting on my own but at the moment I’m struggling to think of anything that’s better than the stuff Luna just does.

> when he got there the ambulances hadn’t got there and he looked around before spotting you limping towards eri and midoriya

> eri wasn’t in control and he could hear midoriya in pain but you were way too close for him to stop you

> he tried running over to you but aizawa stopped him telling him to get him to eri to stop her quirk

> he listened since he had no other way of helping you

> ‘y/n i have no idea what’ll happen to you if you touch eri!!’ midoriya yelled to you over the electric noises of the quirk

> he was clearly in pain and if your theory is right then not only will your wounds go away but you’ll be sharing the pain with midoriya so he won’t feel it as much

> you ignored him and touched her levitating to the air next to midoriya and yelled out in pain as your wounds disappeared

> after a couple seconds of the pain it went away and you all dropped to the floor groaning

> ‘DUMBASS!!’ you looked up to see bakugou standing over you with his arm extended

> you grabbed his hand and squeaked as he pulled you into a hug

> you sighed into the hug placing your arms around his neck and your head in his neck, after a couple seconds you heard a cough from someone and pulled away laughing at the blush evident on his face

> bakugou wasn’t allowed to come with you guys to the hospital so he got dropped off at the dorms

> while you guys were getting checked on for injuries bakugou knew he needed to tell you how he felt

> the feeling of never being able to talk to you again fucking terrified him

> you guys got back from the hospital pretty late since it took a while to fill out all the paperwork

> you opened the doors to everyone yelling at you guys for not telling them

> your eyes scanned the room for the blonde until you felt a hand pull you from the crowd

> you faced the angry boy, your eyes lit up seeing him

> ‘hey’ you smiled at him as he glared at you

> ‘what were you fuckin thinking’

> ‘i chose to go, our agencies teamed up for this i couldn’t tell anyone and i’m sorry, it’s okay i would’ve been fine’

About how I've been kind of all over the place and nowhere to be seen lately:

I'm going to be sincere here. I'm going to try to do replies today, but the hard truth is that I've been quite full of adulting things going on irl, from friends dying in mudslides to worrying about my doggo that, somehow, got papillomavirus and might pass it to the puppies that were born last month, work changes, moving to a new place, and I've been unmotivated as well for some online reasons.

My partners have been away for the most part for the last one or two months and the ones that aren't on a kind of semi-hiatus also aren't all that around too. I also received complaints about how many replies I did in a single day as well as how many memes I reblogged this last week too, in my vain attempt of trying to give options for newer and older followers to send asks to my main and side blog — to the point where I was softblocked right on my birthday day (Feb, 24th) for my reblogs... by a partner who'd been mostly away for the last two weeks — go figure, but that's that.

So, yeah... it seems that no matter what I do, I'm always doing the wrong thing. It's always too many replies, too many memes, too many images, too many everything and everything, even too many DMs or too much excitment for a ship or plot. And this is heartwrenching and extremely demotivating, because I always wait for my partners when they're going through things, I'll stick with them through thick and thin, through the good and the bad, even when I'm not sure of what to do or say, I try my darnest best to be a good and supportive partner, I try to ask what's going on, if my partners are doing fine and want to talk or vent, but I also respect when they ask for space and time away... And yet this isn't the first time this has happened to me.

I'm honestly at a loss of what I should do, or even if I should do or try to do something... since it seems it doesn't matter, because I'm always wrong (right?).

This said, I'll still give my best today too, but I want to let you all know I can't guarantee quality for a while.
