I feeling a tad emotional today so you’ll pardon me on this. But it really upsets me when fanfic writers have Steve change the way he dresses to “fit in” with Eddie’s friends, or at his shows, or just going out with him general. Like Steve has to change his entire look to be seen with Eddie. And it bothers me. Today I was so emotional seeing it today that I started bawling. Because even in the story Steve felt hurt by the suggestion AT FIRST and then he saw how hot he was and that made it better, somehow.
But for me that made me sadder. I know some of us think that Steve was dressed by his mom and then later to fit in with Tommy and them. But as an adult that doesn’t hang out with that crowd anymore, Steve still chooses polos and fitted jeans.
And we never see it the other way round, either. It’s never Eddie changing for Steve. That would be gross, right? Making someone like Eddie “conform” to Steve’s aesthetic? But we do it to Steve all the time. He has to change everything about him to palatable to Eddie’s aesthetic. And it’s not just the clothes, it’s the sports, his taste in music (which we know NOTHING about by the way), the way he acts.
Also there’s the misconception that Steve only wears pastels. He wears dark colors all the time and I can think of two occasions where Steve is wearing all black (that’s not the funeral). There’s the Halloween outfit and the black sweater and acid washed black jeans outfit, too.
He wears dark clothes all the time (okay yellow sweater in season 4 aside) but yet, he’s always in bright colors in fanfics. His polos and henleys look good on him. Stop trying to make Steve change for Eddie. Eddie liked what he saw, let him.

Just some thinking thoughts.
I read or saw somewhere talking about Eddie's buzzcut and who and why someone would have done that to him.
Now granted this is all based on when you think Eddie showed up on Wayne's doorstep.
My thought had always been middle school. He still remembers how to hotwire even though it's a pretty sure bet he hasn't had to in a while.
And when he's talking about his dad I got the impression that as a kid he idolized his dad, but has long since been jaded by the man.
So young enough to still look up to his dad, but old enough to see an obvious difference between Wayne and Al (it's a dumb name, but it's the one we've got).
I've seen a lot of fics where Al shaved his head in punishment for *insert horrible parent reason here* and hurt Eddie in someway, prompting CPS (child protective services) to swoop in and take Eddie to Wayne's.
But may I offer a different perspective. Eddie got buzzed between CPS taking him from Al and dropping him off at Wayne's.
When I was growing up I had this friend who was the fifth child of EIGHT. Now, Dad had a pretty well paid job, but Mom was a SaHM and they could NOT afford the amount of children they had. Their house was always a mess and lice was prevalent.
Lice here is where I'm going with this. One of the things that parents, school teachers, and the like would do if it became too bad was just shave off the hair. All of it. To make sure there were any eggs left near the scalp.
So, I propose, that CPS found Eddie in absolute filth and shaved his head and probably burned his clothes, too.
So imagine this 11-12 year old kid showing up on Wayne's doorstep with a shaved head and nothing but the clothes on his back.
I was also thinking of Steve, too. We know so little about him. We don't know his parents' names, what they do, or where they are from. We know Sr has a business that often takes him away from home, that he most likely cheats on his wife and that's why she goes with him, and that they are neglectful at best, and abusive at worst.
Kids that underage drink and smoke, have parties all time and are considered the "bad boy" at school not very likely to have good parents. Yes, even in the hands off era of the 1980s.
I have always had this feeling, something not supported in canon, but just a vibe I get from Steve. The house that they use for the Harrington place was built in 1976, so if we use it's actual age that would make Steve ten (if he was born in the later half of 1966 and not the early part of '67) when he moved to Loch Nora.
Now it's true the Harrington's could have lived in Hawkins elsewhere, but it's more likely that Steve is a transplant to Hawkins.
So not only does Steve not have a connection to the people surrounding the Upside Down, he also doesn't have a connection to the town the way the others do. But he still chooses to fight the monsters, protect his friends and the town.
And I think that just speaks to Steve's character. And isn't that just beautiful?

Look, considering I've only gotten involved in Stranger Things after season four and therefore haven't been around the fans during other new season filming starts, but my brothers/sisters/nb in fandom what the honest fuck is going on right now?
I have been a part of other fandoms when new seasons started filming and the worst I'd seen was BBC Sherlock. And you lot are behaving worst then they did.
And Jesus fuck, that's a fucking low ass bar.
(Again I am ship and let ship, kinktomato, and headcanon free for all)
But this is just what I've seen in my small deliberately secluded corner of the internet so forgive me if I get some things wrong.
Ronance fans have turned on Steddie fans.
Steddie fans are trying to eat each other over who tops and who bottoms between two horny, barely out of their teens, men.
Eddie is confirmed dead.
Dustin is trying to become Eddie.
People want Will dead because Noah Schnapps said some stupid shit regarding genocide.
And Argyle isn't coming back.
I'm going to give you my feelings on these so buckle up lets go:
1- Steddie and Ronance fans have turned on each other. And I know this because I doom scroll through steddie tag. That Ronance fans think Steddie fans are delusional and that they're going down after season five airs and there will be more Ronance fans because they're perfect for each other.
Where to even begin on this? First, never tell a shipper that their ship is never going to be canon because they don't care. Just ask all the Destiel, johnlock, and merarthur fans. Steddie fans are just going to ignore all but the most salient parts of season 5 if Eddie doesn't come back and write AUs for the rest of their lives. You know, like they have since the last scene on the Piggyback faded to black?
Secondly, I don't think I've seen much Ronance without Steddie. Granted I only read Steddie, but it seems that the two ships are tied pretty heavily together. The fruity four comes to mind. So maybe it's that they're getting tired of being a side ship next to a massive one like Steddie. Who knows. But apparently they're bitter.
And I say that because they keep tagging their anti-Steddie posts as Steddie to make sure we see it. Honestly, I just block them and go about my day. But seriously, I've never understood people's need to be shitty like posting hate on the tag for that thing. If you don't like it, fine. Block and move on.
Thirdly. Lastly. Maybe. I don't like Ronance. I saw the charms when I first joined the fandom and it was cute. Until the more I read and I realized that most of the time they don't bring up that Jonathan is even a person let alone Nancy's current boyfriend. That most of the time Steve is written wildly out of character about not caring that they're a couple and that he just wants them to be happy. Like, one Jonathan is severely under used in the fics I've read. Like Will doesn't have an older brother anymore. It's all Steve or Eddie. Which considering how you like your flavor of queer for Eddie or Steve (gay/pan/bisexual) Will talking to them about being gay makes sense, but Jonathan showed us in the last season that he is going to protect Will no matter what. Then blip! in fanfics, he's gone.
And then the whole Steve being okay with Robin not only dating an ex-girlfriend of his, but the ex. The one he thought he was going to marry. The one he dreamed a whole fucking future on. That was still hurt by two fucking years later. You either think very lowly of Steve or you just don't care. Because if you think Robin and Steve are the same person/share the same braincell/ride or die for life, there is no way even if Nancy threw herself at Robin would she even consider it. (I can write a whole ass post just on this by the way, don't get me started.)
2- This is the most recent bullshittery due to a current event about Sub Eddie. This is the worst discourse in any fandom and the worst offenders on either side tend say the most homophobic shit imaginable.
And it's pointless. Whether you think Steve is a top or bottom, whether you think he's dom or a sub. Same with Eddie. Everyone has their own flavor they prefer and they won't always match up with yours.
Personally I write them whatever feels natural for the story. But here's the major crux of the matter. I don't believe a little nerd in Bumfuck, Indiana has any idea what flagging is. I'm sorry. Left pocket, right pocket. Doesn't matter. The likely of him even knowing what BDSM is is pretty slim. I grew up in a small town. There will be some people that know, but that's because they know adults in the scene.
Don't like, don't read. Seriously, guys. Let people enjoy what they want to.
My personal feelings on the matter is that Steve is a bottom/sub because he deserves to be taken care of and Eddie would absolutely want to be that person for Steve, in and out of the bedroom. Again, you do you, beau.
3- The tombstone. Sigh. It was hard to see that. Not just because it confirms he's dead, but because it's been defaced. Most likely like fans have said, "BURN IN HELL" the poor bastard.
Having a tombstone doesn't necessarily preclude Eddie's return. There are several ways he can still comeback Kas! theory not withstanding. But the wank here is people jumping on Steddie shippers and Eddie fans in general pointing and screaming "see!"
Like we didn't have campaigns for Barb and Bob and (Billy). If someone's favorite character has died, don't be dicks when they want them to be resurrected a la Jim Hopper. Because that right there is the main reason people will still hold out hope until the final scene fades to black, okay?
I guess this one is just be nicer to each other, okay?
4- *sob* like holy fuck. Dustin you sweetheart. The long hair, the torn Hellfire t-shirt, the rings. The horns and sticking out his tongue. That poor boy needs several hugs STAT! And of course, people can't leave well enough alone on Facebook, I couldn't tell you how many of the comments were "steddie fans are going to make this all about them, aren't they?" Even though there wasn't a single comment by a Steddie making it about Steve/Eddie. But so many eye rolls. The other half were death threats against Noah Schnapp.
Which brings me to...
5- Noah Schnapp said some really shitty things about Zionism and the attack on Gaza. There is no escaping that. He said them. He double downed on them. And while yes it sucks he said those things, let's not forget he's still young and stupid. He's barely 18/19 years old. I remember being that age and saying stupid fucked up shit, and hoo boy does this make me grateful I was well into adulthood when the internet became a thing (24ish).
There are a lot of reasons to be upset by his comments and I get that. But death threats and calls for his dismissal/boycotts just seems excessive to me.
One, because the story began with a kidnapped little boy and a runaway little girl. If you get rid of one of them especially this close to the end it would fuck up the story. Now if there was more than one season left, sure. But this is literally the end. And for all we know, Will's character may already be doomed by the narrative. So calling for it now isn't go to do anything. Especially since they already had all the scripts written and would have finished filming if it hadn't been for the strikes.
Two, one person on the cast said something stupid and hurtful and you want to boycott the entire show for it? Like, what did David Harbor, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Millie Bobby Brown and all the others do to deserve you boycotting their show? If the last season tanks it could seriously hurt their careers, but hey Noah Schnapp said something bad, so fuck them?
I'm going to stop there, because this is another one I can go on and on about, but yeah. Don't hurt other people in your rush to vilify an 18 year old.
6- Eduardo Franco recently said that he didn't get a call so he didn't think he would be back. He was sure that ship had sailed.
Fans are upset, naturally. Argyle was a sweetheart and deserves better than to be cut from the story like that.
But thanks to the incident with David Harbor and Jim Hopper supposedly being dead, a lot of fans are saying he's only saying that because it's a "secret" he's coming back. Which would make sense for Eddie or any of the other character died. Martin Brenner, for example, but not Argyle. There would be no need for subterfuge. Plus, he would already be out in Georgia if he was coming back.
It's sad that he was done dirty this way, but if they split up the filming like they've done before there is still a chance he might get to come back, but as far as the current filming is concerned, yeah Argyle isn't coming back.
***
Just... be kind to each other. Remember that the other people on the end of the URL is an actual person with feelings. That people can like what they like so if they aren't hurting you, don't hurt them, okay?

Buckle up, there is a topic I want to rant about today. A few days ago this came across my dash and it reminded me of someone I knew from high school.
There was this kid at my high school everyone thought was a douche. He was good looking, popular, could sing, dance and play an instrument (I think it was guitar, but I don't remember it's been 20 years). He was getting lead roles in the plays as a sophomore (we didn't have freshman in our high schools out here in hick Utah where the running joke has always been we're behind the times by at 20-40 years), he got duck classes because he was getting acting jobs while in school.
We'll call him MH because those were his initials.
He was in my biology class and our science teacher had four groups of four debate creationism vs evolution (you shouldn't debate established fact but whatever). Two groups would be for creation and the other two would be for evolution.
I picked creation because I was a contrary child and wanted to debate the opposite of my actual views. (I was like thatTM) He picked evolution.
We got up and gave our arguments. Now our teacher wasn't a stupid man, stupid assignment aside. He knew his classes. He knew teenagers. He gave them two voting slips. One for who liked the best. Popularity wise. And the other for who gave the best arguments.
Now for some added context, this is Utah. Mormonville. Creation is basically hardwired into our psyche from birth. The chances of EVOLUTION winning was as likely as a pig sprouting wings.
But I was not well liked in high school, I was an epileptic, ADHD, anxiety riddled nerd. So MH's team got the votes for both the best argument and the most popular, because fuck me that's why. (And yeah, this sounds like my anxiety talking, but no these little shits told me that to my face.)
I can't remember how long exactly it was. Long enough that I got over it, but fresh enough I knew what he was talking about. But shortly after this shit show we have a fire drill. It was cold, it was miserable and I was ready to start cussing for the warmth.
MH comes up to me and the two friends I was with and tells me "Hey, I think it was crap that you lost. Your team had the better argument and was better articulated. I just wanted to let you know." And then melted back into the crowd of students.
I didn't think he knew what my name was, if I'm honest. But he came up to me and told me that I should have won. Even my friends were shocked. Now of course I was bitter about losing, because how could I not be? But the fact that the hottest guy in school came up to me and said that? I felt vindicated.
From that day on though? I was a staunch MH supporter. I was tell people that he was probably shy and very busy (you know with the whole acting jobs thing).
TL;DR: high school douche goes out of his way to tell me that I should won the on merit side of a stupid debate and I find out not a douche after all.
So why do I bring this up? Because of Steve Harrington. He has literally everyone saying he was an ass in high school. That he has to atone. But other than some instances where it was absolutely warranted we never really see Steve be a douche. Just typical teenager shit. And every time he does something "bad" he apologizes for it.
But all his friends are still giving him shit about it three years later. But not Jonathan who was an actual fucking criminal. Like he didn't have develop the sex pictures if he was looking for evidence of the thing that took his brother. I've developed film. The negative, while small gives you a pretty good indication of what would develop.
And yeah Nancy forgave him, but no one asked Steve if he forgave him. Because he was in those pictures, too. Steve was just as violated as Nancy was. And if the scene we see is any indication, Steve was probably more predominately featured than Nancy was, because he was on top. Meaning he would have covered her most of the time.
So no, I don't think Steve was a bully. No, I don't think he has anything to atone for that he hasn't already atoned for in fucking spades. I think he was always that same lovable dork he always was and Nancy had nothing to do with his "hero arc". But I have my own thoughts about Nancy that are way too long for this already massive dash stretcher.

So I just want to preface this with I am pro kinktomato and ship and let ship. 100%. I might judge you or block you if I don't like it or makes me uncomfortable but I completely and wholy am for you shipping whoever however.
Got it. Great!
Now this is something I don't think I've seen brought up when it comes with Eddie being shipped with anyone BUT Steve. Eddie is 19-20 in season 4. He is a double super senior. Now we don't know the birthdays literally anyone else (except Will and El) but as Argyle, Jonathan, Robin, Nancy, and Chrissy are all still in school and are seniors, that makes them 17-18 olds.
Now, here's where it becomes an issue. Let's softball it. Say Chrissy/Nancy (or anyone else from the show) is as old as we can make them, barely 18. And let's make Eddie as young as we can make him being a super super senior 19, almost 20. That's still a pretty big gap between the characters' ages. Especially at that age.
Now let's take the gap to the extreme. 17 year old girl with a 20 year guy. And suddenly that's not a good look for Eddie.
Do I know that the truth is probably in the middle? Sure. But I think sometimes we forget how OLD Eddie is.
Which brings me to my next point, why is Eddie that old? If Hellcheer was end game (had they lived) then why make him a twice flunked senior? If he just needs to be in school to deal drugs and DM Hellfire, making him a regular senior wouldn't change anything.
Now, if you tell me it's because he's a drug dealer, let me tell you even in the 80s, having a guy Eddie's age dealing drugs to teens would be sketchy as hell. But since he's still in high school it's not seen as weird.
Let's say you do want him to deal and still be DM of the Hellfire Club but you don't want him too young because the person you plan on coupling him with is a 19 or almost 19 year old?
Suddenly having Eddie 19 isn't that weird. He's the same age as Steve, probably a little older, but a lot closer in age then Eddie is to anyone else we pair him with (that one dead guy notwithstanding).
Which also guys, I know Robin and Steve are close, but he's still older than she is and do I really need to say it? (Because I really don't want to, because I don't want to be seen as dictating how people write the characters, their headcanons, or who or how they ship).
So what I'm trying to get to here, is Steddie makes more sense regarding the age of the characters and how they interacted with each other, then how they acted with any of their female counterparts.
I'm not going to tag this as any other pairing then Steddie, because this isn't hate on the other ships in anyway. This is just my analysis based on what we know about the ages of the characters.

I saw a post earlier that I want to address, because while it was the most recent (and dumbest) take, it was not the only time I had seen this "problem" crop up.
But before I get there, as always headcanon and let headcanon.
And note to the OP and those who think like them: nothing in a fanfic HAS to be rooted in canon. We all know that Eddie would never work retail, but we do love making him a record store employee/owner, florist, barista. It's called FAN fiction.
You also don't get to decide if Eddie coming back or not until the last credit rolls on the final episode and it fades to black. We all thought Hopper was a goner, and he came back for season 4.
Now, do I have things that take me out of a story, sure. See post here for an example of those things. Or really anything under my #ladykailitha rants tag. But this topic is not one of them.
The topic for today:
Steve staying at Eddie's bedside and "ignoring" Max. Also OP what the fuck do you mean that Steve and Eddie didn't earn devotion for each other? That scene RIGHT before they go after Vecna is FILLED with devotion for each other.
Right, right, breathe. This isn't about whether or not Eddie and Steve had a connection or not. Although...
Maybe, in a way, it does. Maybe that's these people's problem. They didn't see how close two got in such a short time. Their conversation in the forest is very indicative how close they got in the span of less than a week.
But as close as they get, the reason that Steve would be at Eddie's bedside and not Max's boils down to good ole fashion guilt (and that Max would have literally EVERYONE else watching over her.)
Guilt that he didn't have an adult or older kid stay with Max and the Sinclair siblings. Guilt he told Eddie not be a hero when all Eddie had talked about was how he felt like a coward and how shitty it made him feel. Guilt that he let Max be bait. Guilt that he didn't push harder for that one hour! Just think of the things that could have been avoided if they had waited ONE HOUR.
Jason and his goons would found the house, saw it was empty and left. The bats would have dropped dead, leaving Dustin and Eddie safe. El would have been better prepared for Vecna. The cascade of things that would have been better if only they had waited that one hour.
So he can't look at her because he sees his greatest failure. She DIED. El brought her back. But she died. And maybe Eddie died too, but he was brought back through CPR and other medical means. El had bring her back. How can he even be in her presence when it was his fault she was there in the first place?
Conversely with Eddie, he's by his bedside with a nail bat and a mission to keep him safe. He may have been cleared of the murders, but people don't care. They'll try to hurt him. So Steve stands guard. To make sure nothing more happens to the sweet boy who was only trying to help a scared teenager get some relief and got dragged into the Upside Down stuff.
So yeah, there is plenty of reasons for Steve to stay at Eddie's side, but the biggest one? Guilt.

I have unlocked the truly annoying inscrutable nature of the tagging system here on this Hellsite (affectionate).
When they changed how to post it messed up a good number of things but especially links and tags.
It got so bad for me I almost quit the site, but a couple of followers kept me going and now nearly eight months later I have cracked the code.
This has come from both being tenacious and curious, two things that serve me well when researching anything really. Especially for my stories.
I will share the fruits of that effort with you. Also apologies to my permanent list as I will be using them as examples.
1- Tag limit is FIFTY (50). Straight up. It will not allow you to save or post if you have more than this.
2- You can still tag accounts that come up "blog not found" for whatever reason. You have paste each one separately, but it can be done.
3- The way you can do the above mentioned is the same way you can get Tumblr to go back to auto-tagging like it used to.
How?
By only having five tags per line: @mira-jadeamethyst @rozzieroos @itsall-taken @redfreckledwolf @emly03
@spectrum-spectre @estrellami-1 @zerokrox-blog @gregre369 @a-little-unsteddie
@chaosgremlinmunson @messrs-weasley @chaoticlovingdreamer @maya-custodios-dionach @danili666
@goodolefashionedloverboi @val-from-lawrence @i-must-potato @carlyv @wonderland-girl143-blog
And then you keep going until you've hit how many you have or 50.
4- If you have more than 50, you can post them in your comments, but again limit it to five per comment and it will tag them, even the untaggables.
And that's it! I hope this helps people out, so if you see this, reblog so that it can get spread around.

I would like to rant about something. It's been awhile since I've done that and it's been kinda bubbling under the surface for a long time.
Again: you can headcanon whatever the fuck you want, this just my "takes me out of a story" thing.
There have been a couple posts that I've seen going around lambasting people for using other names for Eddie then Edward (Edwin, Edison, Edmond etc) when it's on his missing poster as Edward Munson.
Only there is a couple things wrong with that.
One: Not everyone goes through every frame of the show and are actual causal viewers! I know, shocking! (heavy sarcasm here, folks) I personally had seen the missing poster gifed and screenshotted a billion times and never caught that they had his first and last name until someone pointed it out.
Two: it lists Eddie's age at 17. So how well can trust it, really? I know I've seen several takes from production getting the age wrong, to Wayne making him younger so people care, to Kas theory, to even Eddie being one of the kids that went missing before Will and his age is listed as what it would have been in 1983 (which could go either supernatural or Wayne just used the old missing poster from then).
So until there is something ELSE in the show that shows his name AS Edward, you can call him whatever you want, because canon just tells us that his name is Eddie.
So why am I bringing this up?
Because the people going around shouting this bit of information tend to also people who will use one or the other or even both of the next headcanons in their meta/fanfics.
1- Eddie CAN'T swim. This one always takes me out of the story when I see it because we have TWO on screen events that show him swimming. The first is the one most people forget. When Jason and his friends chase Eddie out onto the lake and he falls in. If he couldn't swim, dude would have DIED. But he makes it to Skull Rock. The second time is jumping after Steve. Trust as someone who can't swim, there is no way he would go jumping in after Steve if he couldn't. He would go back to shore and let the kids know what was going on.
So I tend to back out of a fic when I see it, because if you're off about that aspect of his character, I'm not sure I want to read further because what else might they get wrong about him.
2- This one is a doozy for me because it really makes me mad. When they say Wayne is Eddie's mom's brother.
"While all the other dads were teaching their kids to fish or to play ball...my old man was teaching me how to hotwire. Now I swore to myself I wouldn't wind up like he did, but now I'm wanted for murder and soon grand theft auto so...uh, yeah really living up to that Munson name."
Right, I had to transcribe the whole phrase because IMDb only had the hotwiring part. Because it's that last part that is so important to my point. Now I don't know if there are other ways to interpret that line, but if Wayne's last name is Munson and Eddie talks about living up to the Munson name...wouldn't the logic follow that Eddie's dad (named Allen Munson in the Stranger Things: First Shadow play and that's how I'll refer to him from now on to make it easier to type) is also a Munson? So if Wayne, Allen, and Eddie all share the same name wouldn't that make Wayne and Allen brothers?
Now, I think I know where this logic that Wayne is related to Eddie's mom and not his dad, is because how could sweet, hardworking Wayne be related to criminal, most likely in jail Al? Because I don't know who needs to hear this: but even growing up poor in a family that isn't known for its honest living (not that I think all the Munsons are like Al, by the way) one can still chose not to follow in those footsteps. Hell, Wayne could have even straightened up FOR Eddie.
Hell we know more about Eddie's dad then we do his mom. The only thing we know is that she isn't around to take care of Eddie. Dead, in jail, or just doesn't give a damn, she's not in Eddie's life.
So yeah, it upsets me because to me it smacks a little classist. Good guy Wayne can't be related to criminal Al *clutches pearls!* He absolutely is.

This is your PSA for today!
I delete any and all anonymous hate. Here or AO3. Don't care. And even if it is off anon, I still will delete and block. Don't care. I'm 42 and the amount of fucks I have to give are for people in my life and not some rando on the internet with more time then sense.

I know, I know, algorithms suck, blah blah blah. But I LIKED the "For You" tab. Because often times it would show me things that for whatever reason the #steddie tag DIDN'T. I could read huge swathes for fanfics and good ones, too. Some from before I joined the fandom that are just gems.
But because so many people bitched about, it's pretty much my dashboard 2.0 with a small smattering of stuff I follow. I already saw those eight posts BECAUSE THEY WERE ON MY DASH!
It makes me annoyed.

Hello,
I am probably being a mom about this (having been described as a mother hen even before I had my own kids), but I have a very different take to the two most recent gifs of Joseph Quinn I've been seeing today.
Both of them were at a film festival where he is very dapperly dressed in that cream suit with the black button down. I can't find the gifs right now, so you're going to have to hope I describe them well enough (writer power activate!)
The first one is of him standing with another man, older and taller than Joe. The man puts his arm around his shoulder and Joe makes this funny hand sign, like he was trying to do the horns and the peace sign at the same time and then just ends up awkwardly waving.
And everyone is going on about how cute and goofy that little wave was. But I think people missed the part where as soon as the other guy puts his arm around Joe, his arm holding his jacket immediately goes up and knocks the other guy off. Then you can see him go "oh shit" and he turns it into the awkward wave.
And for me it's that little "don't touch" move that makes the wave a little less cute and little bit more, "poor Joe!" Because he shouldn't have to turn him setting his boundaries into an awkward wave as to not get in trouble.
And the second one. Joe is talking to someone else but it doesn't seem like the person is a guest (the guy is wearing a t-shirt and shorts). He's got something in a wine glass that he is holding both casually and stiffly. And he appears to be upset and he's saying something like "that's just how I am" or something like that. Which I originally thought he was saying "that's not how I am" but the second word looks more "just" and the third looks more like "how" the more I'm watching it.
First off I don't like how the shot is framed. It looks like someone filmed it from angle where Joe didn't know they were filming him. Well, same for the other gif, too. Because in both he's not looking at the camera filming him. I get at events like this people are going to be filming all over the place, but these two both seem to have caught something they shouldn't have.
In the second one's case he looks like he's having an argument or something.
Now here's where I get really uncomfortable, because if this is after the awkward wave, this could be him complaining that he didn't want to be touched like that and "that's just how I am". Because if that's the case whoever is doing the filming of these caught Joe in the act of having his boundaries violated, by violating further those boundaries.
I don't know. I could be reading too much into it. Projecting my own feeling on him. But it does look like that to me. And this isn't me saying "oh you can't find it cute!" because I'm not. I'm just saying he doesn't look comfortable and we should examine why.
And since this already too fucking long, I'm going throw in another Joseph Quinn problem I have.
How different he looks from Eddie Munson to his other roles or just in general. I can't find the article now (shakes fist), but Joe talked about how on Stranger Things he dropped 10 kilos or 22lbs to play Eddie so he looked younger and was more sinewy. That he fasted, gave up carbs and had one coffee a day to look the way he does in season 4.
Like actors shouldn't have to do that shit for roles. Isn't there a healthier way to do that? So when that one picture popped up today of Joe looking into the camera I saw someone tag (could have been @vecnuthy) that it looked edited in some way. But it was the most Eddie like I'd seen him look since the show dropped. And if it wasn't edited that means that he dropped those 20lbs again.
And of course I hope that means Eddie's back but even if it is or it's for another role, I hate how thin he looks in that picture (and I love his "slutty Eddie waist") means he's crash dieting and that makes me sad.
Sorry about this. Just...ignore me I guess. But I don't think we talk enough about how actors go through this shit as much as actresses do just in different ways.

Right, so there is something I have to bring up with the story "The Harrington Design" and that's author knowledge verses character knowledge.
Steve is a nineteen year old boy in 1980s hick Indiana. What he knows could probably fill a thimble. If Steve says something wrong or something that is recent knowledge, just remember I've already addressed it here:
Steve ducked his head again and blushed. “Just because I’m not interested in science and fantasy doesn’t mean I’m stupid.” He straightened up. “And yeah, sometimes I get things wrong. But everyone does at some point. In fact I get a hell of a lot more flack for my intelligence than Eddie does and he repeated his senior year twice!” He took a deep breath and then ran his fingers through his hair.
So what is character knowledge vs author knowledge:
Author Knowledge:
I want to preface that I am not ragging on the book, I'm sure it's delightful. "Red, White, and Royal Blue" has the main character as the Prince of Wales, despite the fact that he is fourth in line to the English throne. A quick google search would tell the author that his mother, the heir to the throne, would be the Princess of Wales.
This is author knowledge. But this is an extreme example when most of the time it's more about in universe stuff that a character wouldn't know.
Character Knowledge:
This anything a character would know. But remember that characters are people and their knowledge wouldn't be perfect.
A good example of this is from "Percy Jackson and the Last Olympian". He comes across a statue that is holding a horn of plenty and he confuses her for Demeter (the statues were designed by Daedalus to come to life to aid New York if it ever came under attack) and she gets mad at him because she's Pompona the Roman goddess of plenty. Percy has only ever interacted with Greek gods so it was an easy mistake to make.
Does that make sense?
It's not the author getting things wrong, it's that the character has limited knowledge. And Steve wouldn't know about religious clothes, women's clothes, or weapons used at the time. Because he wouldn't have been interested in them. Broader things like how to string a bow or what a gambeson is, he'd know. But the rest? Middling knowledge at best.
Also for those new to my writing: I delete anonymous asks that are hate, make me mad, or just straight up upsets me. I won't engage. Mmk?

You know what? I think it's time for another 'blogger yells at cloud' moment.
As always headcanon whatever you want. You do you, I just wanted to vent about these things that bother me.
Today on LadyKailitha's rants:
1- Eddie's hair. I was wondering when I wrote this on Steve's style if there was an Eddie equivalent and I've found it. Putting Eddie's hair up. Now as an artist and a writer, I understand the artists' need to not hide everything under that massive curtain that is Eddie's curls.
But as a writer? It does bother me a bit when people are constantly pulling Eddie's hair up.
Because here's the thing. In the show there are three times where putting his hair up out of the way (he has a handkerchief, he could use it do so) would be a good idea and he just... doesn't.
The first time is after he dives into the lake to save Steve. Having had long hair at that age, let me tell you, that hair was dripping down Eddie's back the whole time it was wet. Yes, even with the jacket on. He could have pulled it up at Nancy's to stop it from doing that. But nope. It stays down.
The second time is when he's making his shield with Dustin. He has the bandana on, but it's on his head and not pulling his hair back.
The final time is when Dustin and he are prepping the trailer against the bat attack. Again, it's only pulled out of his face with handkerchief on his head, but it's still not pulled back.
So all this to say that if Eddie didn't pull his hair up during those times, I really don't think he'd be pulling it any other time. He sees his favorite rockstars Dio, Ozzy Osborne, James Hetfield all rocking long hair and seeing that they don't put it up even after having performed for two hours under hot stage lights and running around on stage and he's going to think that's cool. And do that himself.
I know Joe Quinn looks great with short hair and that Eddie would look great with it short or pulled back, but I just don't think that Eddie would in character, you know?
2- Dougie Teague=The Unnamed Freak.
For those that don't know, Doug Teague is the name they gave the character in "Flight of Icarus" the Eddie Munson novel.
Now there are two slight problems with this.
Firstly, unless Dougie failed his senior year (which could happen I've written him that way once), the senior of 1985 Dougie wouldn't be eating lunch with them or be at Hellfire in 1986.
Secondly, they swap Jeff and Dougie's instruments. In the episode when Carver and his thugs show up at Gareth's, Jeff is seen playing guitar and the Unnamed freak is playing the bass. In the book they're reversed.
Look, I'm not a musician but even I know the difference between the two instruments.
What I think happened is the writer looked at the paper that Carver has when he's trying to find Eddie, saw the name Doug and went with that. Without, you know, actually watching the show.
So yeah, I don't think he's the Unnamed Freak.
Plus, you know, the book is barely canon anyway...lol! I've just been seeing people pick up the name recently and run with it and it weirded me out for some reason. Like I've handled Grant, Archie, Frank, and countless others with aplomb but for some reason Doug was a bridge too far.

I just wanted to put out some stats for you all, just so you can understand my level of brain rot concerning Steddie.
I went looking and to my surprise my very first fanfic was my one and only foray into the HP fandom which was a story about Draco and Hermione getting stuck in an elevator and coming out of it with an understanding. They don't become friends or anything, but just getting some actual closure. You know, that thing Rowling fails to provide any of her characters? (Moffat and Gatiss have the same problem with Sherlock, but I digress)
I always assumed my very first fanfic was in the BBC Sherlock fandom. Back in February of 2012, but nope. The HP story predates it by about four months.
So all that just to say I've been writing fan fiction I really long time. With Sherlock being the longest fandom at ten years and almost 550K words.
That's important. 10 years (the pandemic cut out an entire year where I didn't write at all) and 550k words.
As of today before I did my writing for the day, I am at 410k words in less then YEAR! That's right, in the 11 months I've been writing Steddie I have almost as many words written in the Stranger Things fandom than I have for all of Sherlock.
That is some serious brain rot folks. And as long as you guys keep commenting and reblogging my stories, I will keep writing them for you. I have so many ideas for this fandom that I could easily write another 500k.

Look, I need someone who can draw to do the Lilo and Stitch scene where Nani is listening to Lilo pray about sending the nicest angel god has and then the scene changing to Stitch coming out of the wreckage laughing maniacally, but make it Steddie. Robin as Nani, Steve as Lilo and Eddie as Stitch.
Please!
