Idol Error meets Idol Fresh (Short Story)
Finally, the long awaited prize for @zucchiyeni, I am sooooo sorry it took so long to get to..
These short stories were the prizes of the honorable mentions in the SeasonTale Creative Challenge.
Whew, now, onto the story!
~o0o~
"That's like, totally unrad bro."
Error glanced down at his watch again. 5 minutes... they were five minutes over the meeting time they were supposed to speak with him, and it ticked him off.
Error was one of the most famous independent singers in the entire multiverse. He had rewards for his skills in rapping and voice tuning. Despite his inefficiency with technology, he produced some of the most captivating videos and VR experiences known to mankind. It was said he only had one producer, but to this day, no one could figure out who it was.
And the contractors wanted to hire him.
He told himself it was stupid. He knew that they would take his rights to his music if he agreed to their deal... yet the price tag wasn't something he couldn't refuse.
His producer seriously needed a raise.
"Dude, you can't fire me! I won't be the vibe anymore! The town's countin on me radical skills!"
Error rubbed his head, hearing the younger guy talk in the room with the contractor. All he could think about was how annoying his voice sounded. The way he talked, and the way he yelled... It was ticking him off even more.
He decided he wasn't going to wait any longer. He stood up, banging on the door to the office. "HuRrY Up," he hissed. "I d0n't g0T a11 d@y t0 wa1t f0r y0u."
The conversation stopped, and rapid footsteps were heard before the employer, wearing a bright smile, opened the door. "Error!" He smiled with glee. "So happy to have you here, just give me maybe 5 more minutes as I deal with this hobo mkay?"
"1 d0n't h@vE m0r3 t1m3," Error glitched, adjusting his outfit. "T1m3 1s m0n3y."
"But of course," the small skeleton shuddered. "Right, Fresh, I'm going to need you to leave. Unfortunately, we will not be renewing your contract and that's final."
"But lad," Fresh, a tall-appearing skeleton begged. "Tis is ma only source of income! I can't produce any more music unless you chill and let me have the rights to my own voice yo!"
Error grimaced in disgust at his rainbow outfit. He was a walking kid's toy, with trinkets on his outfit that made no sense and the style skill of a two-year-old. However, he didn't like the look of the contractor's outfit either... it was all black with a white undershirt. Very boring, in his opinion.
"I'm sorry, but there's nothing I could do."
"Wh@t d0 y0u m3an, yoU dOn'T hav3 th3 r1ghts t0 yoUr OwN v01c3?" Error gestured to the hobo, considering what he said earlier.
"Totally unfair, brah!" Fresh explained. "In the contract, they steal the rights to your voice, music, everything! They only pay a pretty penny until your rates drop because of their unrad standards!"
"Wait, no, that's not entirely true-" The contractor had a pleading look in his eyes, glancing at Error and grabbing the scruff of his sleeve.
Error immediately shot his hand out of his reach, looking at him in disgust. "N@h, that's BS r1GhT th3rE. I'1l c0nt1nuE t0 b3 ind3penDenT."
"But-" The contractor flattened his face with a defeated look. He glared at Fresh as Error walked out, but not out of earshot. "You just ruined our chance to make a big buck, prepared for your entire career to be ruined."
The scrape of a chair echoed through the hall. "Too bad you already did lad."
Error rubbed his head, unable to comprehend what had just happened. He really needed the extra cash, but with the terms he overheard and the reviews from other artists stuck in contracts with the company, he saw no benefit. Even the Star Sanses were stuck with them for six more years, unable to produce their own stuff. It made Error wonder if the instant fame was worth it for them.
Not like he experienced that desire. He had posted his music one day and it caught fire quickly, each of his videos going viral the moment it released.
Yet, nothing paid him enough to give his producer the raise she needed. Most of the money he made himself went back into his production and to pay his own bills.
"Yo broski, wait up!"
Error cringed, clenching his fists together as the footsteps behind him got louder. As if this hobo couldn't get any more annoying...
"Sorry about the lazy impression back there bud, I tots wasn't having the best convo of all time. But I know your music and I must say you're pretty rad and wanted to ask if you wanted to collab sometime." Fresh rambled, before stopping and taking a few big breaths.
Error glanced Fresh up and down... well, more up than anything. He raised an eyebrow and continued walking. I don't have time for this...
"C'mon broski!" Fresh bounded after him. "I won't let you down and I can add some sick beats to your vocals!"
"1 h@v3n't h3arD yOuR mus1c beFor3." Error glitched, adjusting his clothes once more. "YoU juSt g0t f1r3d, wHy shOulD 1?"
"Look look look," Fresh immediately pulled out his phone to search for examples of his music. Even Error was surprised at the rate he pulled it up while keeping up with his pace.
The song played fancy and radical tunes, ones that Error had never heard before. There were some parts he liked, but the main melody of most of them sucked in his opinion. Error then explained to Fresh the few parts he liked while everything else was trash.
Fresh did not seem disheartened in any way. "Thanks for the feedback broski, I will take it into account! I could lend you the sounds for a collab, just one brah."
Error scoffed, turning around to face the rainbow once more. "Tw0 w0RDs, m@ss1v3 mAk30v3r," Error gestured to his entire outfit. "Y0u'R3 n0t l0Ok1nG l1kE th@t 1n mY v1d30."
"Really brah?" Fresh frowned, unzipping part of his outfit to show the inside of it. "You think this is lame? It's better than the lazy hobo that you're wearing."
"Th1s 1s f@shi0n, thAT b3l0nGs 1n th3 DumPSt3r." Error fired back, getting more angry by the minute. He snarled and waved his hand in dismissal, walking towards his car.
He didn't see the devilish grin of a cunning idea wrap around the parasite's face. "Relax lad, why don't we let yo cute producer decide? The collab would be made by her anyway~"
Error stopped dead in his tracks, glitching in and out at the mention of his producer. There's no way this loser could have figured out who she was... right? The fact that he even talked like that about her fueled his fury. How disrespectful of him.
If it weren't for his popularity, Error would have strangled him on the spot. However, people were starting to look and point them out, as he was being recognized. Fresh knew this, he saw this... and he laughed about it. They both knew Fresh was taunting Error.
"I'll make it stop if ya wish to collab, broski," Fresh shrugged, rezipping his coat.
Subconsciously, Error pulled the strings from his eyes as they continued to glitch, showing his anger. "N3-3-3-v3r." He hissed, holding the strings around his fingers. "N0 0-0n3 wh0 diSr3sp3ctS m3 @nd m-m-my c-cr3w w0rkS w-w1th m3."
"Hope to see you on stage then broski, when you come crawling back to me!" Fresh bowed, the silver on his clothes blinding Error when the sun reflected off of it. "I'll personally be your rival. It'll be easier to get popular that way."
"D0n't f-forg3t a-a-ab0uT th@t s-stup1d c0ntr@ct y0u siGn3d." Error unlocked his car, seething.
"What they gonna do lad, fire me? I'm on my own," he gives a mocking salute to the rap star. "And I'll be the one to take over your career. Good luck broski..." his eyes turned a scary shade of purple. "You'll need it."
Error was incredibly puzzled by Fresh's behavior as he drove home. The only word he could use to describe it was childish, yet it still got under his nerves. Usually, threats don't bother him as they don't get very far. But this one... it was very unsettling.
The rap star would make his way home in silence before eating his favorite meal and collapsing in bed to sleep. Despite all the things he tried to do, Fresh stayed fresh in his mind, and he was unable to shake the feeling that something was about to go seriously wrong for him.
Little did he know what kind of battle for his career this rainbow hobo would bring... And the rivalry it started to this day.
Even then, his producer stayed loyal to him, and Error still made music as usual. Security was increased, and he was able to get his producer a raise due to the song rivalry with Fresh, despite never collabing. Error always thought Fresh's music was childish and inexperienced, especially when the song was putting him under the bus. He believed he had the real roasts when he finally put the song together to tick off the parasite back.
But after the song "Fresh to Rotten Fruit" was released, Error was unable to sleep. He pissed off the rainbow parasite... and the threat on his life and his producer's life was too serious to be ignored.
And Error couldn't fix it without ruining his career.

From Side Hustle to CEO: Start a Profitable Business
So, you have this really cool hobby you love, right? Like making art or yummy foods? Wouldn't it be amazing to do that all day as your actual job?! Well, you totally can! Let me share the thrill of turning your passion project into your full-time gig.
First off, you started your little hobby just for fun. But then people saw your stuff and wanted to buy it! So cool that you made some spare cash from your pastime. Now it's time to make that side hustle bigger.
Tumblr media
You'll need money to stock up on more supplies and gear. Ask your parents for a small loan or use some savings. Or look into fast financing online - those quick funds can really boost your growing business!
Next, get the word out about your awesome products. Share pics and videos on social media, and tell the story behind your brand. Make a basic website, too, where fans can easily browse and buy.
As sales grow steadily, consider getting a small storefront or market stall. Having an in-person presence creates more popularity and foot traffic. Congrats, you're an official small business owner now!
Money to Grow Your Company
Okay, so your side gig is growing and making decent cash. But you're still balancing another job and the hobby hustle. Time to see if income could cover living costs full-time. Make a bullet list of expenses - rent, bills, marketing, inventory, etc. Pay yourself a good salary, too!
If the money maths looks good, put together a real business plan. Get tips from mentors who grew their own passion projects into careers. Look into bigger business loans for more money to grow.
With careful prep and planning, you can securely jump in as your own boss! It doesn't get much cooler than making a living off your beloved hobby.
Find Your Spark
You started this side hustle because you totally love it. But to make it a real business, you need that special something. The "wow factor" that makes folks go gaga over your products.
What parts of your crafts or services do people adore most? Is it your super unique designs? Or maybe your warm, friendly service? Ask buyers for honest feedback on what sparked their interest.
Do some digging to see if there's big enough demand too. Look at the competition - what are you doing differently? Highlight those special strengths that truly stand out.
Build an awesome brand identity showing off your signature style. Consistent, quality branding helps customers quickly recognise your flair. And lets you charge prices reflecting premium value!
Map Your Journey
Putting goals and an action plan in place is key. Having a roadmap with milestones motivates you to keep hustling. List out all steps needed to grow from here.
Craft a full business plan covering every part of operations - hiring staff, getting equipment, shipping products, and promoting your brand. Running the numbers exposes costs, cash needs, and profit potential, too.
Tap advisors and mentors who've grown successful small businesses before. Their wisdom guides you around potential roadblocks. An experienced support team provides super valuable advice.
 Money Savvy
Managing cash carefully lets you reinvest wisely into growth. Cut needless costs, draining funds like subscriptions you don't use. Go lean, embracing efficient, money-saving processes. Automate tasks with cool apps and tech.
Diligent bookkeeping is a must. Knowing cash flow highlights areas wasting money or making profits. That financial data informs all big decisions.
Brand Building
Having an awesome product isn't enough to be successful. You need a super strong brand that people instantly recognise and love. Branding is what makes customers pick your crafts over others.
First, define your brand's whole vibe and personality. What adjectives capture the spirit you want folks to feel? Fun and quirky? Classy and chic? Outdoorsy and rustic? This guides all visuals and messaging.
Next, design an eye-catching logo representing your brand's essence. Use fonts, icons, and colors to fit that personality. But keep it simple enough to be recognizable and tiny on products or profiles.
Visuals and words across all platforms should match seamlessly from your website to social media bios and product shots. Consistent branding builds trust that you're a legit, quality brand.
Speaking of online presence, leverage social media to full effect! Share behind-the-scenes peeks of your process. Spotlight unique materials or special techniques. Get customers invested in your brand story and values.
Sales Strategies
Okay, you've got a standout brand. Now it's time to push sales! There are many easy ways to boost interest and revenue both online and in person.
On your website, use high-quality photos showcasing products from all angles. Write a fun, descriptive captions enticing shoppers. Offer product bundles at discounted prices to increase order values.
For social commerce, utilise Instagram shopping and Facebook Marketplace features. Tag products directly in feed posts so folks can instantly checkout. Run flash sales generating urgency and excitement.
Cultivate an email list by collecting addresses across platforms. Send regular newsletters spotlighting new products and promotions. Include personalised discount codes compelling fans to buy.
Offer basic customization options like colour choices, monograms, or including gift notes. Tailor experiences deepening customer connections with your brand.
Funds
Flexible financing helps you stay nimble, adapting tactics as needed. If something's not performing, easily shift gears, re-allocating that cash. But when sales are soaring, you've got funds to double down!
The path grows more challenging as your hustle expands into a legitimate business. But staying inspired, passionate, and money-motivated navigates those inevitable roadblocks. Just keep that fire fueled!
Stay Inspired
As business starts booming, having fast cash on hand lets you swiftly implement new sales tactics, seizing hot opportunities. No lingering around waiting for funds to afford promotions or expanding inventory.
With fast financing from direct lender or lines of credit, you can instantly invest in ads, campaigns, and fresh product launches. Getting that swift capital injection means rapidly capitalising on demands.
Update your website with pro photography and videos showcasing the latest offerings. Bulk up inventory to satisfy order influxes without selling out.
 Conclusion
Look, I get it - taking that first leap is scary. But listen up: You are super talented, and people clearly want what you make. Plus, doing your passion as a job every day?! That's the actual dream!
You've got this! Make this year the time you finally turn your favourite hobby into your full-time career. As your little hobby turns into a real full-time gig, it's key to hold onto your original excitement and energy. Running a business has its fair share of obstacles and letdowns.

I’ve been making some really hard decisions lately
Had an amazing job offer at a surgery center. But everything felt wrong. From the interview to the on boarding process.
The entire time I felt my gut talking to me. It’s like a bad feeling. It reminded me of one of the many car rides with my ex. When there was an awkward silence and my body was talking to me, telling me something was wrong by making both my shoulders feel like I just did an Ironman contest. Or like the time I flew in to town early and he was at work , and I was unpacking my bags in his bedroom and that voice was telling me , “ something happened here , something that is hoping to hurt you “.
And I was a pro at scolding that voice like a small child and telling it to shut up.
I have recently realized my entire life I’ve gravitated towards that vibe.
A vibe that constantly caused me a level of consistent and chronic pain.
For the most part I held it down but once in awhile it would surface and I would push everyone who cared about me far, far away.
Then I would hide in my bedroom for an entire weekend in bed crying.
Pull my shit together , rinse and repeat.
Why was I in this pattern ?
Possibly because of my dad and years of abuse as a child?
That 24/7 feeling of walking on ice registered in my brain as normal
And it’s not.
For the first time in my nursing career I turned the job down.
I took another position for less pay. It’s not in a giant beautiful building , doesn’t have marble floors and a facade of money in the brick and walls.
For the first time I’m seeing through a lot of shit.
I also realize that what I’ve done in my relationships; staying with abusive partners for a year. Not just romantically but friends as well.
I have also stayed in work environments that are the same.
Because of that message I was told as a kid.
You’re not good enough.
I had no idea this was all connected.
I now see the table setting that I saw for years is skewed.
So I yanked out the tablecloth.
Originally I thought resetting the table would be easy.
But it came with a giant cloud of darkness that brought on a table of pain from the past.
Almost like an evil spirit wanted me to feel the razor sharp pains just one more time. Then telling me this is what you are this is what you deserve.
Pushing that entity away has been the most challenging thing I have experienced.
You can say you have boundaries but sticking to them takes a strength that can only come from a higher power.
This metamorphosis comes with a price. Physical and mental exhaustion. And when your down, alone and pushing through the darkness. There is another voice saying “ why are you doing this ?” “ just come back over here where you have been. It’s comfortable here “.
Then like a heroin addict jonesing you feel like you want to jump back into those old patterns and routine. You know they are toxic but that’s where you have been for years.
Many of us get stuck in this phase.
Once you start listening to that voice in your head that’s been talking to you all these years. The one with the higher vibration you’ve shut out with drugs, sex , alcohol and sugar.
Slowly… you will see things differently
We all are work in progress
Be kind to yourself. There is enough people waiting in line to kick you down these days.
We are so used to it that when we are alone and no one is kicking us while down. We do it to ourselves.
Namaste

Oh my god, they were roommates…
//
“The rental market in Detroit is absolute shit! How dare these bloodsuckers charge such high rates for the most under-developed properties! This city’s going to the dogs!”
“Uh-huh.”
“You have to pay your own weight in gold just to live in a shoebox for a year. Nonsense!”
“Uh…”
“Are you even listening to me, Tina!
Tina?
Goddamnit Tina!”
Gavin thumped his fist on her desk, but Tina’s eyes barely flicked up from her phone.
“Oh my god, you sound like my grandpa…”
Gavin turned red and his brain buzzed with a thousand colourful retorts. He was just about to pick one when Tina stopped scrolling and turned her phone screen towards him.
CYBERSCALIA @ NEW JERICHO
The suburban paradise for executive androids and humans alike. Located 25 minutes drive from downtown Detroit, with a full amenities.
Gavin’s eyes widened to the size of dinner plates. He balked at her.
“You’re joking? How could I possibly…?”
“Get with the times, boomer…”
Tina lazily skimmed her thumb over the screen. The webpage promised plenty of greenery, good infrastructure and modest but spacious rooms. The extremely reasonable price tag was Gavin’s dream come true. He’d spent weeks apartment hunting in the wake of an early lease termination by his cantankerous landlord. Gavin knew he’d never find a better deal.
“Shit, this is so good, T! Why the phck does it have to be in that- that place!”
His friend arched a sceptical eyebrow.
“What place?”
“The Tincan ghetto!”
Tina smacked him on the arm. None too gently.
“It’s subsided public housing located in an android-friendly estate… because they’re the ones that need it most right now. And frankly, you seem to be in just as much need, so you should really get off that high horse.”
“Fine, fine. You’re right. I should seriously consider this place, even if my neighbours are gonna have more in common with my car than me. But damn, it seems a little too good to be true. There’s probably some fine print, hidden costs that’ll come out later.”
“Hmm… let’s see…”
Tina scrolled further and then let out a half-laugh. She held her phone up again.
“Nothing shady about the rates, but there is something you should know…”
At the risk of being called old again, Gavin squinted at the screen and read aloud.
“Bearing in mind the founding principles of New Jericho, all human occupants may only apply for tenancy in co-habitation with at least one android citizen of the United States of- JESUS PHCKING CHRIST! Absolutely not! I am not going to live with a plastic prick!”

Gavin had to get through half a bottle of wine before he could bear to scroll through the rental listings. Unlike other humans who had happily moved into New Jericho with their android friends or partners, he had to find an android who was also looking for a flatmate.
Some listings came from ardent supporters of Markus. These were the androids who wanted to ease the post-revolution transition by reaching out to humans. Some listings were put up by the android equivalent of frat boys. These individuals were clearly looking for someone on the fringes of human society, someone who could show them a good (if not illegal) time.
Other posts came from eccentric androids who craved company but had likely been rejected by their own kind. Gavin felt a strange twisting sensation, almost like pity, when he came across a post written entirely in third person by someone called Ralph.
He had almost given up hope when he came across a simple little listing for a two bedroom apartment in Cyberscalia.
RK900 #313 248 317 - 87: Seeking a neat, self-sufficient co-renter. Human or android, no preference. I spend most of my time working and will be out of your way for the better part of the day. I only ask for silence during my nighttime stasis cycles, timely payment of dues and upkeep of cleanliness.
Gavin sighed in relief.
//
“Your room is the first door on the left, mine is the second. The bathroom, laundry and kitchenette are shared, as is the living room. I scarcely find use for the latter, so you need not worry about my intruding on any of your social gatherings, or vice versa. As long as you adhere to the terms of the agreement, our paths will not cross much.”
The tall, stiff-necked android dropped a set of keys, both mechanical and digital, into Gavin’s open palm.
“Er thanks.. RK… sorry I forgot your full model number…”
“You may call me Nines. Although, I’d rather you didn’t call me much of anything. Now if you’ll excuse me.”
In a swish of black fabric, the android turned on his heel and disappeared into his room. Two rapid clicks indicated the shutting and locking of his door.
Gavin sighed and looked around the open-plan living room. It was nothing fancy, but it was far beyond any of the other properties he’d viewed in weeks of unsuccessful house-hunting.
He sat down on the simple black couch with a huff and contemplated his situation. He’d ended up where he’d truly never expected to go, but objectively speaking, things were good… barring the high-handed manner of his robot flatmate, but who gave a shit about that.
He pulled out his phone to text Tina his thanks.
//
“I can’t! I refuse to! It is a violation of my personal ethics and I will simply not take this assignment any further. Good day to you sir!”
Gavin nearly dropped his bowl of cereal one morning when his roommate burst out of his door and rushed into the open balcony.
He hadn’t seen Nines in days, which was perfectly normal. The android came and went at odd hours and made hardly any noise. It was almost like living alone. The only reminder of Nines’ presence was the sight of several dark shirts and trousers regularly hung out to dry on the rack above the washing machine.
Gavin set his bowl down and watched the android tightly grip the bars of the railing and take several unnecessary breaths to calm down. He’d seen deviant colleagues express emotion many times before, but this was the first time he witnessed such a potent mixture of rage and sorrow from a synthetic being.
Out of empathy, but mostly curiosity, Gavin approached cautiously.
“Hey Nines… is everything alright…?”
There was no response for several moments. Then Nines turned around with a grimace and hands held upwards in a placating gesture.
“I apologise for the disturbance. It was hypocritical of me to disrupt the very peace and quiet I demand of you.”
“Uh… no worries…? Are you okay?”
There was a flash of steel blue eyes.
Gavin kicked himself mentally as he realised too late that he’d broached uncharted territory. Their interactions didn’t extend beyond curt nods on the rare occasion they found each other in the same space. It was almost as if Nines engineered the lack of contact, which wouldn’t surprise Gavin at all if it were the case.
“I’m fine. I merely experienced some frustration with my work.”
Perhaps it was boredom, perhaps it was his usual lack of self-preservative instinct… Gavin threw caution to the winds.
“What do you actually do?”
Nines’ expression remained stoic but his LED went through a spectacular series of colours and flashes. His next words were reluctant.
“I’m a private investigator.”
“Oh shit! I’m actually a cop.”
Gavin pointed dumbly at himself and then let his hand drop when he saw absolutely no surprise cross the android’s face.
“I know. That’s why I let you stay with me.”
“For safety?”
“Certainly not for your fashion sense.”
“Wow okay, I didn’t think I’d be much protection for a big scary droid like you.”
Nines hummed dismissively and started to move out of the balcony, body language fully indicating the end of the conversation.
Unable to help himself for some strange reason, Gavin blurted out another ill-advised question.
“What pissed you off so much?”
Nines paused halfway through side-stepping the human. A thrill went through Gavin at the shards of ice he observed for the first time up close in Nines’ irises.
“If I tell you, will you promise to stop asking pointless questions?”
Gavin nodded earnestly, and frankly… rather foolishly.
“I helped a client gather evidence to initiate divorce proceedings on the grounds of infidelity. I provided ample photo and video evidence for his lawyers to work with. Now they want me to keep following the spouse to capture more details that could gear any future settlement in his favour.”
“So what’s your problem?”
“They’re offering me an incredible amount of cash to follow her 24/7. To stake out her workplace, her gym, her parent’s home. They want me to crouch under the window of the bedroom where her children sleep. I can do a lot of things, but not that. It’s deeply insulting that they even asked. That’s why I was so… pissed.”
Nines slipped past and was nearly back to his bedroom when Gavin spoke.
“I respect that.”
“I didn’t ask.”
“I know, but for real though, I think ethics are important in our line of work. Not just because of we need morals or a sense of right or wrong blablabla, but because we need… clarity.”
Silence floated through the hallway as Nines paused with a hand on his doorframe.
“Clarity?”
“Yeah, like a sense of direction. We don’t just take cases right-left-centre because they make us money. I mean, we could, and people do… but they never become specialists or experts of any kind. You gotta strategise if you want a career. Ethics helps with that. I think…”
Gavin wasn’t sure what made him say any of that. He was neither one for small talk, nor a man of many words… but something about Nines prompted that unusual level of introspective discourse.
“Sorry that was weird. Never mind.”
“That was actually… very astute.”
Their eyes met and Gavin could’ve sworn he saw the hint of a smile.
“It’s good to see that not all humans are as one-dimensional as I thought.”
The door clicked shut, but there was no locking sound.
//
Since the morning of Nines’ uncharacteristic outburst, the frequency of their encounters in the common areas of the apartment increased. Wordless nods became hellos, and hellos eventually became full sentences.
Not that he’d admit it, Gavin actually looked forward to enquiring about the android’s day and the cases he was working on. It was utterly fascinating to hear about legal investigations without the constraints of police procedure.
For his part, Nines would share as much as he had the patience to, before disappearing into the confines of his room. Though the time he spent outside steadily increased every day.
Another morning, while Gavin was making his coffee, Nines emerged from his room, still in his pyjamas and looking as livid as he had the time before. Gavin had never seen him in anything but crisply ironed businesswear. Before he could voice any concern, Nines stiffly asked Gavin to keep a lookout for a homicide suspect.
He nodded and immediately reached for his phone to text the sergeant on duty at his station. By midday, there was an arrest.
That evening, when Gavin settled in front of the TV with his usual glass of wine, he heard the familiar sound of Nines’ door opening. The couch dipped beside him.
“Thank you.”
“Just did my job. I should thank you for the tip.”
“Hmm.”
Gavin chanced a glance at his roommate, and found him looking right back.
“What?”
“Nothing… I just had the realisation that much of my work is impotent without the authority and means to take any kind of action.”
The sitcom began to play and Gavin thumbed the remote to reduce the volume.
“Takes all kinds to keep the streets clean. PIs can do things cops can’t. We rely on guys like you for intel all the time, you know.”
“I know.”
No words were exchanged for a while thereafter. Gavin found himself unable to focus on the TV show with all the brooding energy emanating from his right.
“If you feel like being a private eye doesn’t make enough of a difference, then why didn’t you… um… you know…”
“Join law enforcement?”
“Yup.”
“Plenty of my fellow androids have done so. I know for a fact that my predecessor model chose to remain there. You might know him.”
“Connor? Yes. Very annoying.”
“He is, isn’t he?”
“Totally. But why didn’t you join too? You’d be brilliant on the Force.”
“My skillset is certainly well-suited, but I didn’t want to become another puppet of the state.”
Gavin really didn’t know what to say to that. He nodded uncertainly and looked back at the television. He wasn’t sure why Nines was suddenly this social.
“What are you… watching?”
Androids could scan and detect just about anything in the world, so there had to be something else to the question. Gavin, strangely, was happy to oblige.
//
Nines made an appearance every evening, without fail. He would sit through the TV shows if they were of interest, or he would bring his case material and notes to the coffee table to work in silence beside Gavin.
Sometimes Gavin liked to work on jigsaw puzzles on the dining table. Nines would sit beside him, pretending to read a paperback novel, but actually scanning the puzzle and passing the right pieces over from time to time.
Against all odds, an evening ritual and a tentative friendship developed. It was simple, but it was warm. Comfortable. Like nothing Gavin had ever had before, even with humans.
//
He awoke one morning with a slight crick in his neck but the feeling of being very well-rested.
His eyes flickered open and fell upon the window. Familiar greenery came into view… but wait… had everything slightly shifted to the left? And was that the New Jericho Capitol building? He couldn’t see that from his room! There was a tree in the way! A tree that was now a few feet away from where it used to be.
Gavin sat up in alarm as he realised that he was not in his own bed. His heart flew into his throat as Nines walked through the open doorway. Shirtless and carrying a mug of blue liquid.
“Oh good, you’re up.”
“Wha-what happened!?”
Nines frowned and sat down on the edge of the bed. He set the mug on the floor and pulled on a plain black t-shirt.
“You passed out on the couch last night. I think you finished a whole bottle waiting up for me? Sorry, I was out working later than expected.”
Gavin looked down and sighed in relief as he found all his clothes still on him.
“I didn’t want you to injure yourself sleeping at an odd angle so I brought you here. Your door was locked.”
“You could’ve easily opened it.”
“Yes, but that would’ve been an invasion of privacy. I reserve that for working hours alone.”
Gavin looked deep into the sparkling blue eyes and as usual found no trace of humour.
“Thanks…”
“Don’t mention it. Now get out. You’re ruining my silk sheets.”
//
Against his best efforts, Gavin could not keep the thought of being carried to bed and tucked in safely out of his mind. How many years had it been? Since something like that had been even remotely possible for him?
He knew that Nines was just being kind in his own pragmatic little way… but Gavin found that he wouldn’t mind the prospect of waking up in the android’s bed in a wildly different context.
He realised he had it bad when Tina caught him smiling to himself at work one day.
“Why so happy?”
“Oh… nothing. Just remembered something my roommate did… He’s a… funny guy.”
“Huh. Well, look at you getting along so well with androids.”
“Android. Singular. Just him.”
“Wowwww… he sounds special.”
//
“Who did this?”
“Gavin, the damage is merely superficial-”
“Who phcking did this??!”
He reached forward and gingerly touched Nines’ split cheek. His synth skin was smeared with blue blood and glitching in and out. Nines winced at the contact.
“Shit, sorry. That must hurt like a bitch.”
“Androids do not feel pain.”
“Bullshit.”
“I’m merely experiencing a surge in sensory input wherever my chassis is exposed. I’m fine.”
“Shut up and give me your first aid kit or whatever toolbox equivalent you tincans have.”
A shade of embarrassment appeared over the android’s features.
“I… actually don’t have one. I didn’t think I’d ever need it.”
“Didn’t think anyone could kick your ass, huh?”
“No… I didn’t think anyone would ever spot my hiding place.”
“Huh. How’d that happen?”
Nines’ eyes dipped, but as always, he answered the question.
“I was… distracted.”
Something in the air solidified and both of them felt it. Gavin cleared his throat and slapped his knees like an old man about to stand up.
“Right. Let me go check if the neighbours have anything that might help with your face.”
//
“So who’s this dapper young gent you’ve brought to the party, Gavin?”
“Er… he’s my uh… roommate.”
Captain Fowler nodded and winked.
“That’s what they called it in my day too.”
Nines shifted beside Gavin and cleared his throat.
“He’s a PI. But I think he’s wasting his talent taking pictures of cheating spouses. He’s quite interested in police work. Maybe we could get him to assist on a couple cases now and then?”
Fowler put down his drink and extended a warm hand to Nines.
//
“Oh thank RA9!”
Nines came running to the cluster of police cars and enveloped him in a giant hug. Gavin laughed as he patted him weakly on the back.
“Watch the ribs, big guy.”
“I was so worried.”
“Why? Your info was good. No chance of error.”
“I meant about you.”
Gavin pulled back and regarded Nines with confusion. The flashing red and blue lights of the cars made it hard to read his LED.
“Why?”
“I can’t believe you have to ask.”
The android pulled him into a bruising kiss. The officers standing nearby broke into wolf-whistles and applause.
“What the-”
“Oh I take full credit for that, sir.”
Fowler glanced at Tina.
“The case, Chen?”
“Oh of course. I solved the whole thing. But I mean that specifically.”
She waved a hand in Gavin and Nines’ direction. The two held each other tightly and seemed unlikely to come up for air anytime soon.
“Like I helped Gav find an affordable place in New Jericho and then he met this handsome investigator droid and they were roommates.”
“Oh my god, they were roommates…”
“Yeah legit.”

CSAU :: Moonie Jericho and the Mysterious Case of the Moon-Jumper Mask
At long last, It is finished! Happy Halloween!
Below the line is a lighthearted fic taking place in the “Coffee Shop” AU (( @doodledrawsthings ))with Magic! Family fun! Low stakes! And a gratuitous cameo by my OC because of course Nell is here
Seriously though this fic is about as lighthearted as it gets. At the end of the fic are a few sketches I drew but didn’t end up coloring.
((There’s going to be an alternate ending posted separately at a later date, but its not relevant to the fic))
Enjoy!
--
Fall in Subcon Forest came in gently as always, and by the time Halloween rolled around, everyone was firmly in their sweaters and beanies and thick leggings and hiking boots that were only occasionally used for hiking. The leaves of the trees and the shining sun framed the town in such lovely muted colors that it looked like a picture right out of a magazine.
Not that anyone in the Horizon was looking out the window to see it - the curtains were closed in an attempt to not blind the employees and clientele.
It was that time between the end of school but before trick or treating, which meant that all of the teachers and parents were coming into the Horizon with their kids to get the new specialty drinks - well decorated and tasty, and more importantly, not hilariously overpriced. The kids in particular seemed to love the “Ghoulishly White Hot Chocolate”, and the teens flocked to the “Jack-O-Spices Frozen Pumpkin Latte”
Luka was almost certain that the pumpkin spice smell would burn itself so deep into his nose he’d never be able to un-smell it. A small price to pay for the rise in business, he supposed.
“Luka, Two Snatcher-ccinos!” Clover called from the cash register.
“I still hate that!” He responded with a light tone
“Too bad, make ‘em!” She teased back with a light laugh.
“Don’t get all testy, you two! We’re only open for another hour!” MJ called, grinning before turning back to the coffee machine, where they were effortlessly making yet another latte.
“Too long!” Clover argued, grabbing a muffin for a customer from the bakery display
“You’re telling me, and I still have to take Bow and Hattie trick or treating” Luka huffed, finishing up one of the “Snatcher-ccinos” and moving onto the next one.
“WE are!” MJ corrected. Luka just playfully rolled his eyes.
The conversation ended up dying rather quickly as the business went through its last rush, and, at long last, 4 o’clock came, and the store shut down. The three employees did a rather quickly clean up this night around - they were all eager to be anywhere but work that spooky night.
Once in the back of the store, Luka seemed to almost melt in relief, leaning further and further into the wall.
“Ugh, my limbs feel like Jelly” he commented as his voice gained its echo
“For all we know, they are,” Clover teased. “We’re meeting at MJs in an hour, right?” She stretched.
“Yeah.” Luka nodded “Have they already run off?”
“Yup. They’re excited” She chuckled “You gonna get home alright?”
“Yeah, thanks. See you later”
“Later!”

That stupid, cursed thing of a mask had not moved in weeks since he’d found it, and its stupid grin had started haunting the corner of his vision when ever he was in his studio.
It seems like it's decided that sitting on the desk in his art studio was its happy place. At least it was out of the way, and in a place he didn’t frequent often.
Though its eyes definitely still moved, which gave MJ hives like you would not believe. Why he kept it in his studio he wasn’t sure.
Tim had told him that the thing was mostly harmless, that it just seemed a bit… off, which wasn’t the worst thing in the world. Timmy even said that he got “good vibes” off of it, which was a strange phrase to use on something that felt at the very least mildly cursed.
Finishing with the caplet for his costume, gently clasping it, he looked in the mirror and gave himself a smile.
It was obscure, sure, but he’d put a lot of work into it! The legend of the “Lonely Man” was well known in these parts, maybe someone would get it. Someone had to.
Whether or not anyone got it, he was still happy with the tattered thing. That faux old age took forever to get right.
As he straightened out his clothes, his eyes caught the mask once more.
His hand picked it up off his desk, and his thumb rubbed on the odd surface. He couldn’t really tell what it was made of, but it was… oddly smooth, he thought. His brow furrowed as he looked at its eyes, a single pupil in its left eye, and a cascade of diamonds in the other. It was certainly an interesting and eye-catching design. He also liked the blue and reds, and that weirdly off-putting grin.
Such an odd thing.
He held it up with one hand over his face - not putting it on, but getting a look in the mirror at how it would look with the outfit.
He found it utterly bizarre that he could see clearly through the eyes despite what seemed like thick paint over it.
The mask itself wasn’t actually that scary when taken all at once. Oddly enough, it seemed to match with his outfit - at least, color wise. It didn’t even seem evil or anything. It seemed… kind.
That was an odd word to use. MJ tended to flip flop on how he feels about the damned thing
Before he could think any more about it, his doorbell rang, and the mask was left on his desk, forgotten the moment company arrived.
“Who is it?” He asked as he approached the door
“The Dread Pirate Roberts!” A little voice announced as the oak opened up.
To his absolute delight, Harriet was dressed indeed the Dread Pirate Roberts, missing nothing but the mask (The town doesn’t allow masks on minors, for some reason. A weird little policy). Next to her stood an excited Bow, grinning from ear to ear. He knew exactly who she was, but still asked-
“And who are you?”
“My name is Inigo Montoya” She said with all the faux-seriousness she could muster, holding up a foam sword “You killed my father, prepare to die!”
“Oh, goodness, the finest swordsperson in the world and The Dread Pirate Roberts have come to my home, I don’t stand a chance!” He moved out of his way as the kids ran into the apartment, and their father walked up behind him.
When his eyes went to Luka, he let out a snort. The man was dressed in a slightly silly looking prince outfit dyed almost completely purple, and his form was mostly purple as well - an energy-saving tactic if ever there was one.
“And you are?”
“He’s the ghost of prince Humperdink” Bow grinned. “This was the best costume we could find for it”
“I honestly think he shoulda died at the end of the movie so I'm cool with it.” Harriet commented as MJ moved to the side and let the group in “Is Clover here yet?”
“Not yet, I’m sure she’ll be here any minute and we can get right along with trick or treating!” MJ announced
“Yay!” the girls responded in unison, taking their place on MJs couch and turning on his old television for a brief moment of entertainment
Mj looked at Luka and grinned “Well, you’re lookin’ spooky, Luka”
“You kind of do too… what do you look like?”
MJ snorted “I’m the ‘Lonely Man of Subcon forest’. Heard of it?”
“Nope, don’t think I’ve been here long enough” Luka shrugged “Does look nice though. Very zombie-ish.”
The two chatted for a bit before there was another ring barely 10 minutes later.
“That must be Clo” MJ pushed himself off of the wall. “Can you get that? I want to grab my wallet so we can get the kids some ice cream before they go running around”
Luka nodded, giving him a grateful smile before turning to the door to greet the final member of the trio
MJ popped back into his studio, grabbing his wallet… and looking again at the mask.
He pocketed his wallet, and picked the mask up again. His thumbs rubbing against the strange texture of the mask’s sides.
He couldn’t help but admit that he was tempted.  Maybe, he could just see what it’d look like, just for a moment. Who knows? Maybe this has all been anxiety for nothing and the mask is just… weird.
He looked back into the mirror, and placed the mask on his face.
There was a moment where he stared amusedly at his reflection - it added a certain air to his outfit. Maybe wearing it out wouldn't be so b-
And then his body seized
He couldn’t move, he couldn’t breathe. He trembled and a pain started from his head and traveled down his spine. It was like the worst shiver from the cold he’d ever experienced. Like ice was pressed directly against his skin. It dispersed like a fog, freezing freezing, and, suddenly-
It stopped.
Panting heavily, MJ pulled themselves back up to a standing position - when had they bent over like that? - and lifted their head, making eye contact with themselves in the mirror.
“GAH?!”
They were - blue! And - and the mask was very much not a mask!!!
When they blinked, it blinked. When they moved, it moved. When they grimaced, the mouth moved along to create the expression. their eyes scanned over the crescent shape, past their neck and then landed on their-
“H-hands!” They stared - they were missing a finger and - had claws?? They clenched their fists in disbelief, eyes catching on a glinting just under their sleeve.
.. Where had the chains come from?
“MJ? MJ are you okay?”
Clover
“D-don’t come in, its fine!!” They panicked, “I’m uh, just, finishing up and stuff with my costume!”
“It looked finished to me” Luka commented “Did something rip?”
“Y-yes?? yes! Something totally ripped“
“They’re lying!” Hattie pointed out
“Sounds like their lying voice” Bow added.
Curse these adorable, smart little girls!
“I-I’m fine!” They yelled out “Totally fine, just fine”
“... MJ I’m opening the door, be decent”
“No, Clover, I - “
But the door opened anyway
And Clover - dressed up as “Generic princess” - looked in, and … stared.
“.... MJ?”
“.... H-hi, Clover.”
“Clover, what are-” Luka cut himself off “Uh….”
“It’s me! Its MJ, I uh - “ They tried to come up with a succinct explanation for the situation, despite not having any real idea.
“The mask” Luka quickly concluded, recognizing the face after MJs unfortunately previous run-ins.
“I … yes” MJ’s shoulders slumped a bit.
“Hey, at least you still have feet” Luka commented, causing MJ to look down and see that he did in fact still have his shoes on. Thank heaven for small mercies.
“What happened, what is it?!” Harriet pushed her way through, her eyes wide as saucers once they landed on the recently transformed adult “... Whoa”
“I … I put on the mask. I was curious and - and it..” They looked back down at the pale, blue hands, nervously moving the fingers and claws. “I felt like I was freezing, my whole body and then…” They trailed off.
“Whoa..” Harriet approached him slowly “It's like, Majora’s Mask!”
Lukas put his hand on her shoulder to stop her from jumping - now really was not the time “... I suppose that's one way to describe it.” He gave a deliberate, thoughtful face towards his transformed friend.
Bow was very firmly behind the adults, staring rather intently and slightly bewildered. Sure, she had been getting used to Mr. Princeton as a parent but.. This was somehow very different.
“... We need to talk to Tim.” Clover concluded
“Tim’s out of town” Luka reminded the group with a grimace “He and Timmy had some kind of meeting thing with other magical people. We don’t…” Luka huffed, his hair fluffing up a bit “We don’t know anyone else whose adept at magic like they are”
Harriet furrowed her brow a bit, looking at the discomfort that MJ was experiencing, rubbing their hands together. Could they be stuck like that? She wanted to think that maybe this really was like the Zelda game, but who could tell? It's not like they knew anyone….
“Yes we do!” She snapped her fingers“I kinda hate that Mu was right, but there is a witch in town!”
“What?” Lukas’ brow furrowed “Who?”
0o0o0o0o0
Getting to the edge of town was… novel, to put it simply. The group was rather lucky that Luka was used to doing this sort of thing. And he was about 4 times larger than the group, so that helped in flying them around.
With the sun kissing the earth, red rays crawling into the darker sky, they didn’t have too much time, but followed Harriet and Bow as they got past the town center, and led them down to-
“Wait, why are we at Nell’s place?” Clover stared ahead at the Mint-green home, succulents hanging from pots and a radio sitting on the edge of the porch.
“Because Nurse Nell is a witch!” Harriet announced walking up the two steps of the porch.
“What- Harriet!” Luka startled.
“Its true!” Bow defended as Hattie knocked on the door.
“Kids, we’ve known Nell for a long time, she’s not-”
“She is!” Hattie argued “We saw it!”
“She made us promise to keep it a secret!” Bow added.
Said nurse opened the door as MJ tried to speak up
“I wasn’t expecting trick-or treaters,” She greeted before looking out the door, “But I do-” She paused as her eyes landed on the strange group at her front porch.
There was a rather awkward, extended silence as her eyes scanned MJ through her thick lenses with a gaze that conveyed a strange kind of surprise.
“.... Inside, now” She pulled the door open further, leaving no room for argument.
The adults shared a glance, but did as she said, entering her small living room. She greeted them with a nod as they entered, and shut the door behind them, motioning for MJ to approach her.
She didn’t say a word as they did so, and very slowly lifted her hands to their face, holding it steady as she scrutinized. “What happened? Less than 3 sentences” She half asked/half demanded. Her tone wasn’t harsh, but it was serious.
“Uh, I put on a cursed mask and it uh… did this” They tried to sum up.
“Where did you get the mask?”
“I found it in the forest. I thought it was abandoned from the spirit festival”
“And why did you pick up an abandoned mask in the forest?”
They awkwardly didn’t respond. She sighed
“I get it, hun” She responded, resigned. “Stay still”
“I am”
“Stiller”
Clover and Luka watched her with some skepticism, seeing the woman take a deep breath, and as she exhaled, her hands suddenly glowed dimly, tapping at the side of MJs head.
“Hah! See! Told you!” Hattie pointed, jumping slightly
“Shhhhhhhh!” Bow shook her “She’s doin’ magic stuff!”
“Hm…” She masterfully ignored the yelling children “Well, good news is that the magic isn’t very strong, Just… aggressive.” Nell announced. “And it's not malevolent” She let go of their face.
“... I… How can you tell?” MJ asked, their own hand tapping their blue cheek.
“.. Let's say it's a feeling” She summed up. “You can sit down. I need to grab something from my library”
And she left the room
“.... I don’t think I’ve ever seen Nell that serious” Clover spoke out “Also the uh, glowing hands? Didn’t know she could do that”
“How did you not know she had magic?” Luka asked with a rather incredulous tone
“It never came up!” Clover retorted
“How did it never come up?”
“Its cool!” Harriet jumped into the conversation
“It think its cool too” Bow agreed “I always wondered how my paper cuts at school always healed so fast…”
MJ had sat themselves down, hand staying on their head, feeling the strange curve of their forehead with a certain fascination. Nell’s words - said with so much affirmation- did make them feel better about the situation.
The nurse returned, her expression still relatively serious, but calmer as she carried an old, thick book with a rather overly ornate cover in a faded blue.
“You’re lucky I collect these old things” She commented for a moment, sitting down next to MJ. She flipped through the pages, finding a two-page spread with a plain mask listed on it, and text printed so small that MJ just could not read it. “Here we are.”
Harriet climbed up next to her “What's it say? That’s a lot of words!”
Nell chuckled a bit at her eagerness “It is, but... “ she hand rested on the book for a moment, and then she lifted it, and the text glowed, lifting and circling around her hand like a ring.
“Whoa…. It's like the unknown from the Pokémon movie!” Bow jumped, causing Nell to laugh more.
“A little, I suppose” Nell responded, and she looked over at the other two adults, mostly at Clover, whose bewildered stare caused her to laugh again “You okay there?”
“... How did I not know this about you?”
“Never came up, dear. Don’t think too hard about it. You too, “Snatcher”” The woman gave a smirk. Luka cleared his throat. “Now…”
A simple flick of her hand, and the letters were floating around MJ’s head, and some of them glowed just a little bit brighter “Hm….. Alrightie, that's a good sign” She snapped, and the letters, very suddenly disappeared as if popping a bubble. “Well, Give until dawn, and then you should be able to take off the mask. If you can’t, come to me. I don’t work tomorrow”
“Oh… Well, that uh, wasn’t so bad. I’ll be okay?”
“Of course” Nell nodded, shutting the book “I’d’ve called the Kagai’s the moment I let go of your face if I thought otherwise”
“The who?” Hat questioned.
“Another time, Hattie, another time” Nell placated. “Now….” she exhaled, putting the book on her coffee table and clasping her hands together “I just realized I haven’t even said hello to any of you”
Something about that sentence finally broke the tension, getting a laugh out of Clover and Luka, and a snicker out of MJ.
The next ten minutes consisted of Nell reassuring the group that MJ would be fine, and reiterating that they needed to come to her if the mask did not come off by sunrise.
“There’s a lot of magic in this that I can sense. So uh, just be careful.” She warned. “I don’t know a lot about that, so you’ll have to ask Tim”
MJ nodded “Uh, thank you, Nell”
She gave them a kind smile “Don’t mention it. Next time you need me though, have Clover send me a message or just call me, alright?” She looked passed them to Harriet, who gave her a sheepish smile.
“Got it” The transformed barista nodded.
“Oh and, don’t be too worried about people seeing you. Just say it's a costume” She recommended as they walked out with their family waiting just beyond the porch. “Happy Halloween!” She called before abruptly shutting the door
“So……” Bow started
“Can we go trick or treating now??” Hattie finished.
Luka looked up to MJ, who seemed much calmer than before, despite continuing to lift their hand to their weirdly shaped head.
“.. Yeah, yeah i think we can” they gave Luka a grin “And thanks for getting us the help, Hattie” MJ reached down and picked her up “Who knew the Dread Pirate Roberts could be such a help!”
The girl giggled before being put back down “Then let’s go!!”
0o0o0o0o0o0o0o0
MJ was initially a bit tittered when they entered the town, but the moment anyone noticed them, the compliments rolled in.
“Wow! You look like a spooky zombie!”
“What game is that cosplay from?”
“How did you get the prosthetic to look like that, damn!”
“Wow, that is a really cool idea for the Lonely Man!”
MJ was beaming at the semi-undeserved praised as they took the kids from neighborhood to neighborhood, filling their pillow cases close to brimming with so much candy that Luka kept making a face and seemed to be mentally preparing to hide all of it, whispering to Clover and MJ about taking some of the candy so that it wasn’t all in his apartment.
“Seriously, all that candy?? They’re going to get cavities and I cannot pay for dental work like that.” The father aggressed. MJ just laughed a bit, looking ahead at the two girls who were trying to run ahead to the next house.
And then Bow’s foot caught a crack.
“Ah, Bow!” MJ startled, hand reaching out - but there was no way they’d reach her before she fell-
And then, she just stopped falling, stuck in midair as if floating.. But she wasn’t.
Upon closer examination, she was held up by a variety of red strings, connected to MJ’s clawed fingers
“... Uh”
“Whoaaaa” Hattie gaped “Magic! Cool!”
Bow pulled himself up to a standing position, and MJ put their hand down, the strings disappeared
“.. Thanks” Bow cleared her throat “That was really cool”
“It kind of was... “ They commented, looking down at their hands “I’m gonna be having a heck of a long talk with Tim when he gets back from wherever he is”
“Yeah, definitely” Luka nodded in agreement.
Lucky for the group the rest of the night went without incident, with MJ joining Luka at home and the two of them staying up until the sun started showing through the windows.
“Ready?” Luka asked him, the being no longer human shaped, as he’d finally reached his limit
“Yeah.. I think so” MJ took in a breath “She said it can just… come off like how I put it on…”
“Alright….” Luka’s voice trailed off as MJ reached their hands up to their face, thumbs by their cheeks, but then - wait! The edge, the mask! They felt it.
Barely bothering to breath, they mentally counted… 1… 2… 3!
they pulled it off and gasped as that icy feeling went through them even faster than last time, trembling and nearly falling over as Luka kept them up with their tail.
“Hey, hey! You okay MJ?”
MJ looked up, nodding “Yeah, uh, how do I..?”
“You’re back to a nerd, if that's what you’re asking” Luka lightly teased
Their hands went back up to their face, and gasped when they felt their regular skin, and their glasses (Where had they gone? Didn’t matter)
“Oh, thank god” The tired barista flopped onto their partner, “That was exhausting. Thank goodness the Horizon is closed today…”
“Hah, ready to sleep?”
“Oh, definitely” MJ commented, looking down at the mask still in their hand, its smile seeming not nearly as spooky than before.. “Hm..”
“What?”
“.. Why’d it choose me, I wonder” They muttered, sitting up and placing the mask by the window sill “But… we’ll see about finding out more, hm?”
“.. Yeah, we will” Luka confirmed.
MJ gave him a smile, hugging his partner with a slight nuzzle “Come on, we need to sleep. Hattie and Bow-”
“Oh, don’t remind me. We’re in for a hell of an afternoon” Luka groaned, but he was still smiling.
Saying that things were “back to normal” was never correct with this group, but things were still pretty okay. Maybe better, even.
Moonie figured they’d just have to wait and see.

Take It Like A Man
Okay so this is a first draft of the Take It Like a Man scene and it is also my first ever fic so I would greatly appreciate any and all feedback! Also I used most of the lyrics from the bridge because I love this song okay thanks enjoy!!
“I don’t get it. Why are we here?”
“Spencer, you know I love the whole casual Friday vibe you have but you can’t wear a corduroy jacket in court. Especially not in spring!” You teased him, pulling at his old jacket.
“I- Hey! I happen to like this jacket!” Spencer mocked offense, a soft smile creeping onto his face all the same.
“Come on! Don’t just stand there, have a look around. Pick out something nice, okay?” You giggled, rushing around the store picking out shirts that Spencer couldn’t tell he wouldn’t be able to afford.
Looking around the store, Spencer was overwhelmed by how out of place he felt. To be fair, he normally felt that way around y/n but recently whenever she was near him he felt as if his heart was going to beat through his chest.
Spencer picked up a plain shirt that seemed relatively okay but winced looking at the price tag. He put the shirt back, trying to figure out why y/n had brought him to shop where he would have to sacrifice food for two months to afford one jacket.
“Spence! Over here!” Your voice called our over the music playing in the shop. Spencer felt his heart swell with affection at the nickname. He made his way over to you, seeing you stand at the dressing room with a pile of different clothes.
“Okay so, I’ve picked out a few outfits for court but I also picked some cute shirts that I thought you could wear just for the sake of looking nice!” You smiled at him, handing him the first outfit and gesturing for him to enter the cubicle.
Spencer stared at himself in the mirror, wishing he was anywhere else but here right now. He was never confident in his body, how could he be when he was so scrawny. Despite his slim stature, his clothes were almost always a bigger size as most thrift shops don’t carry formal wear in smaller sizes. He never cared much for his physical appearance because he knew he could make up for his shortcomings in the brain department. However there was something about how passionate y/n was about wanting to find him something nice to wear that made him smile. She didn’t want to fix him, she just wanted to make him feel more confident. Too bad he won’t be able to afford any of these clothes.
“Uh... Spence? You alright in there?”
Shit.
“Yeah, sorry I’ll be out in a second!” He threw on a casual shirt and exited the dressing room.
“Do you like it? I really like it, Spencer!” You smiled at him. You looked like a small child, proud that they had dressed their doll so perfectly. Spencer nodding in agreement.
“Try on the rest of the casual ones and then come out in the suit okay? I’m gonna look around for some shoes.”
Spencer nodded before heading back into the dressing room. He tried on another two shirts before giving up, sighing softly.
Looking at himself in the mirror he began to put on the suit. It felt weird to wear one that actually fit him properly.
“Hey, y/n? I-I’m ready to come out in the suit.” Spencer called out, starting to feel nervous. Why was he feeling nervous? It was just y/n. His friend, y/n. Who he saw at her lowest and then helped to become a great lawyer. Because that’s what friends do, and they were definitely friends. Nothing more. Right?
“Ah, come out!” You couldn’t help but feel excited, finally getting to see Spencer in the whole reason you organized the shopping trip. Spencer constantly over-worked himself, rarely taking care of himself and if there was one thing you were passionate about, it was self care. Plus, you like to spend time with your favorite genius, so it’s really a win-win.
Spencer slowly opened the door, walking over to you in front of the full length mirror.
“Woah...” You both breathed out.
Spencer was nearly unrecognizable in the suit. Gone was the scrawny kid who started college when he was 12, standing in front of them was a confident young man.
“I look like Warner.” Spencer grimaced, wondering if that was your plan the whole time. He stared at your reflection, trying to gauge your reaction
“But it’s just me.” You smiled softly.
“That’s the best part. Sure, the outside is new but now it just reflects what’s already inside of you. Couldn’t change that if I wanted to.” You grinned bumping his shoulder gently. “Which I do not.”
“Thank you...” Spencer gave a small smile to you, still trying to get used to his reflection. Throughout his whole life Spencer has been told he needed to change his personality if he ever to fit in. His father, his teachers, his peers all hated his ramblings and constant use of statistics. Their comments eventually led to Spencer doing his best to just not talk to them. That wasn’t very hard as none of them actually wanted him to speak to him. But now, right next to him was someone that didn’t want him to change. That for the first time liked him. All of him. Not just the fact that he was smart and seemed to know the answer to everything. “But I can’t afford this. Any of this...”
“That’s okay, I’ve got it. Spence, this isn’t just a gift. This is payment in kind. If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t be here right now. It was you that saw behind all this blonde to my mind.” You curled a lock of your blonde hair around your finger, a smile gracing your face. “And I’ll never be able to thank you enough for helping me, Spencer. You really are the best thing that’s happened to me here.” You grinned at him, gently putting your hand on his shoulder to turn him so you were now face to face. Looking him up and down one last time you beamed at him.
“Okay we have to buy this, I mean look at you! Spencer, you look hot! Is he not hot?” You asked the sales assistant, laughing.
Did you just say hot? Never in his entire life has Spencer Reid been described as hot. He’s never had any kind of positive comment made about his physical appearance. And for the first time, Spencer is truly speechless, the only thing he can do is blush deeply before turning back into the dressing room.
He changed back into his own clothes, grateful for the comfort they provided. He brought out the pile of clothes and met you at the till. He felt an overwhelming sense of guilt hit him as the cashier revealed the total but you seemed completely unfazed by what he considered an egregious amount for so few items. You smiled at him reassuringly before handing him the bag.
“For the new, more fashionable Spencer Reid!” You smiled at him, chuckling slightly at the growing blush on his face. He was cute when he blushed. When did Spencer get so cute? More importantly, when did he get so hot? Woah, those are not appropriate thoughts to be having about Spencer, y/n.
“Come on!” You said, quickly changing the subject. “I’m gonna go get an iced coffee, you want something?”
“Oh, uh, no thanks. I think I’ve spent more money today than I have in my entire life.” Spencer stammered out, laughing slightly at his own joke.
“Well, you know you didn’t actually spend any money today...” You teased him, a smirk spreading onto your face.
“Please don’t remind me. You know I can pay you back some of it. It might take me a while but I prom-“
“Spencer!” You cut him off promptly.
“I was just joking. You are not paying me back because you deserve this. Honestly. It’s the least I could do for all the hours you’ve spent tutoring me.” You smiled, touching his arm softly.
Both of your eyes drifted to your hand on his arm before meeting. You both jumped back slightly, not entirely sure what the feeling you were both experiencing was. Both of you froze, unsure what to do or say after a surprisingly intimate moment.
“I was actually looking over my notes from State of Indiana v. Hurn and I found some interesting similarities between that and...” Spencer broke the silence, rambling on about the similarities between two cases. You smiled fondly at him, chiming in a few times with your own points. Still you couldn’t stop your mind from wondering. More specifically you couldn’t stop thinking about how handsome Spencer looked in his suit.

[DCA Event] - Six Queens Event Part 5
Warning: Dark Jokes
[Howard - All you wanna do]
It was Cerule’s turn, the ghost sends a promiscuous feeling thorugh her soul. They expected Cerule to be like Briar, vulnerable to being possessed completely not because of a relation in their situation, but more like Cerule is a bit impulsive at times. But surprisingly she was just as strong willed as Vidya, it could be perhaps because of her family’s hereditary power.
Using her voice, the ghost is blocked by the magic that her voice possesses. She gets into center stage as her eyes glowed a bright pink. She gets her act on stage and the audience thought this was just the sexy type character. But they won’t realize that this act was the darkest part of the play.
Cerule starts to ‘roast’ the queens as they tell her that she can’t compete with them in terms of having the worst life. The crowd chuckles at her sarcasm, Jade and Rook were invested in this act and with how she carries herself with such confidence. They stan a queen who knows how attractive they are and doesn’t regret flaunting it.
Cerule: Yeah… yeah, you’re right. I’m gonna need all the luck I can get, your lives sounded terrible and your songs… really helped to convey that.  I mean, Catherine, almost moving into a nunnery and then not? It almost could’ve been really hard for you.  And Anne! Anne, getting your head chopped off? Surely, that means you’ll win the competition— oh, wait, wait, hang on a sec. Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded… oh, wait, nevermind.  Audience:
Tumblr media
And Jane, dying of natural causes? When will justice be served?! And surviving…  Audience: *Laughs as she skips Rozeline* Seriously, seriously, Anna, all jokes aside, being rejected for your looks legit sounds really rough. I wouldn’t know anything about that.  Audience:
Tumblr media
Cerule: I mean look at me, I’m really fit. So yeah. I can’t even begin to think of how I’m going to compete with you all. Oh wait, like this...
She snaps her fingers as the lights flash pink and the song starts. Cerule had been practicing on using her voice for the act, since there was a lot of times she’s lost control over it. The harsh vocal training with Professor Faustus was worth it, she uses her voice to make the audience feel the wave of sensual excitement, but for only a small portion, it was enough to get them to focus on her.
Crowley feels the need to tell her that she shouldn’t be dancing so sensually, but Divus just pulls on his shirt collar again and reminds him that it’s a play, chill out or he’ll be tempted to tighten his tie. (Poor Crowley, his view on the perfectly well-behaved students are being dragged through the gutter, for real though... chill Bird Dad let the Serpent King do the scolding XD)
Jack was now praying to whatever Gods who might be listening to not have Idia kill him as Ortho sits there still with a curious expression. Like the majority of the audience, he can feel his cheeks flush in embarrassment.
Others who are affected are Epel who is red as Riddle who happens to be clutching Trey’s sleeve as the third year was covering his mouth with his hand, Ace is affected too but he’s focused on laughing at Deuce who is covering his eyes with his hands whenever Cerule coincidentally makes eye contact in his spot of the crowd. Cater was just vibing with the music, typical playboy not affected.
Azul is blushing too but he is struggling to NOT look away because he can feel Jade glance at him from time to time. Floyd was just enjoying the music, go figure. For Azul, if he looks away that would mean that the twins would NEVER shut up about this incident for weeks! He’s having a battle, internally with himself and the twins. Cerule’s dancing just makes it worse because it looked so damn convincing! Not to mention the way she sang the song! OCTOBOY IS REACHING PUBERTY XD
Cerule: All you wanna do, all you wanna do baby~ Touch me, love me can’t get enoughsies~ Azul:
Tumblr media
But when she reached the climax of her song the feeling of excitement faded as she her expression morphs from playful to a near meltdown, her dancing stops as she shakes off the hands of the queens when they make contact on her body. The crowd goes silent as the feeling of dread and pity washes over them like a raging wave.
Vil, let’s just say that he can find things that he can relate to being fairest. He may or may not have felt like this when he was pursuing his path of reaching ultimate beauty. He applauds Cerule’s acting, it looked so convincing, as if he was seeing the actual young queen go through the trauma of being used by the men in her life.
Cerule: Touch me when will enough BE ENOUGHSIES?! Audience: *silently realizing the real situation*
When the song was over, she could barely feel the possession fading since it was mostly blocked by the magic of her voice. At the end of the song, people were clapping loudly but there was little cheering.
Not because they didn’t like the act but because it took such a dark turn. But they admire the acting because some were in tears, we now know whose been in that situation before.
[Queens Fight]
Cerule lightens the atmosphere by explaining that’s how she was beheaded. This was the part where the queens would start to argue.
It starts when Cerule claims that she is the winner because she’s had it way worse. But the others seem to disagree with that.
Briar comes up to Cerule and states that she may have had it bad but it wasn’t the worst they have heard this evening.
Cerule retorts back by stating that she had sung four choruses, that’s the amount of SH*T she has had to deal with.
Allison speaks up by saying how the situation was similar to hers so she ain’t the only one who has experienced that.
Allison:  Wow, yeah, being manipulated by men and paying the price, none of us could possibly imagine what that— oh wait, yeah, I did experience that. Evonie: Yeah, for like that last five minutes of your marriage, Anne! Men had manipulated me from day one. I was literally shipped over from a foreign country, not knowing a single word of English, to marry some random dude. Vidya: Oh my god, same! Audience: *laughs*
Tumblr media
Evonie tries to argue again about how the king didn’t even say goodbye but was cut off when Allison and Cerule said that they’ve been there too except she got to keep her lovely neck. The two high five while giving Evonie the stink eye.
And her last statement about the king not allowing her to see her only child who had the chickenpox, which sets Briar off. And the outburst shocks everyone, the motherly queen lashing out in anger.
Evonie: when my one and only child had a raging fever, Henry didn’t even let me, her MOTHER see her- Briar: OH BOOHOO! Baby Mary had the chickenpox and you weren’t there to hold her hand! You know, it’s funny because when I wanted to hold my newborn son, I died!
Malleus: *Was just accepting it at face value and has no energy left to be shook anymore*
Tumblr media
The entire room was silent as they gawked at Briar’s outburst.
Vidya buts in by yelling how she has the plague and the queens all turn to her, concern written on their faces.
Vidya: Guys I have the plague! Queens: What?! Vidya: Lol I’m just kidding my life’s amazing~
Tumblr media
At the sight of a smug queen with the other five giving her a displeased look, the crowd erupts into laughter.
Kalim is laughing while he’s clinging to Jamil, Ace was choking on his spit and is trying not to laugh because he is going to lose more oxygen. Floyd is cackling because he would probably do this joke too if he had the money to back it up. Azul is scowling a bit because, let’s face it he had a bad life at childhood.
Although Vidya adds that she was humiliated on an international scale but Allison sarcastically asks who could possibly relate but Evonie snaps at her at what would she know about humiliation. This was the moment that sh*t went down.
Evonie: You seriously wanna talk about humiliation?! Well, when I was queen... Henry had not one, not two but three historically confirmed mistresses! Allison: Oh no, mistresses.. GET OVER IT! When I was queen I had not one, not two, but THREE... M I S C A R R I A G E S!
*Record Scratch*
Vil, Divus, Cater, Rook, Jade and Lilia:
Tumblr media
Riddle, Azul, Jack, Sebek and Malleus:
Tumblr media
Ace, Deuce, Epel, Ortho, Floyd and Silver:
Tumblr media
Crowley:
Tumblr media
The audience went apesh*t at that and it got crazier when Evonie one-upped her by yelling how she had five miscarriages. And the five queens started going at each other’s throats and yelling.
Rozeline stopped the fighting by yelling, “That’s ENOUGH!”
[Extra]
Rozeline yelled so loud that it shocked the five queens. To the audience it was just acting but for Rozeline this was going out of control. She could feel the ghosts nearly take over the dorm leaders as they argued. Their eyes glowing brighter and even Vidya and Cerule who had really strong wills to resist were being crumbled down almost becoming vulnerable themselves.
That was a close call for sure, but Rozeline thought back to the moment they got possessed. She had a song prepared about the life of the sixth queen but looking back at it, what was the point of making their pain known? She sympathized with the queens because they were in the same position as her, they felt powerless against the man who held the power to take away their lives. But should she just end the show with their suffering?
What about the happy ending? She wanted them to be recognized but would she want them to be recognized like this?
The six wives of Henry VIII who suffered in his hands?
That was what they were, just HIS wives. Nothing has changed and Rozeline was not about to settle for this!
They’ve had enough suffering, she regrets not seeing this sooner but she’ll make the ending count. Hopefully the girls wouldn’t mind if she went off script for just a bit, right? Time for a histo-rewrite to ensure the legacy of the Six!
She just needs the ghosts to realize that they are so much more than just their history with the king.

Where Is Home?
We talk about retirement a lot.  A LOT.  The mister wants out of the south because he hates the hot, sticky weather.  I want out of the south for a variety of different reasons.  He tears up when he thinks about leaving this house.  I get excited thinking of a house with better storage, maybe even a walk-in closet and a big pantry.  He loves the idea of townhouse living and all of the freedom it provides.  I love the idea of half a football field between me and a neighbor.  I wouldn’t mind being snug against a neighbor if we were in a walkable little town and I could have a white picket fence.  As we age into our golden years I want to be on city water and city sewer.  I do not want to be ninety when the well runs dry or the septic system has a fit.  Nope. No, thank you.  We have discussed towns from Maine to Arizona and are constantly trading articles about property taxes and real estate markets.  Night after night I search Zillow, Realtor, Trulia (oh, those handy dandy crime maps!) and so on.  I’ll send Mickey a house in Maryland to admire and mention that it’s just two hours from the world’s cutest grandgirl.  He responds that he loves it.  Then I send him a townhouse near Tucson and he says the same thing.  I’m getting nowhere with this guy. Side note: Yes, I know Arizona gets very hot, but it is not humid. HUGE difference. Also, Arizona has two enormous positives - we could escape allergies and my hair would behave.   If you had my hair you’d know that’s more important than the property taxes.  Two major negatives would be that it’s too far from family and I can’t imagine never experiencing another autumn. I’m happily willing to give the townhouse idea serious consideration.   I know that Mickey would love to never weed eat and edge another yard.  Remember the good old days when no one did that?  My main issue with townhouses is that they all tend to be multiple stories - sometimes three floors.  Wherever we retire, that’s where we’re going to die.  I don’t want to be unable to navigate my own home when I’m old.  Same reason I refuse to have a basement laundry, I don’t want to drag baskets of clothes up and down basement stairs when I’m a little old lady.  You know damn well a cat would trip me and Mickey wouldn’t miss me until he got hungry.  Of all the chores I’d be willing to expire while doing, laundry is not in the top three. We’re not lottery winners so our options are limited.  When we sell this house we’ll make a tasty profit that will allow us to find a comfortable home - nothing fancy, but we won’t be in a box under bridge.  I can make any home pretty, but the bones have to be good.  I’m more concerned with structure and mechanics.  Who needs a beautiful house with a bad roof or an hvac system on its last leg?   The region definitely determines what you get for your money.  For the same price you can have this sort of square footage in the south (complete with inground pool)...
Tumblr media
or you can opt for proximity to Portland, Maine and get this.
Tumblr media
The second house is new construction, but it’s itty bitty, has well water and septic, and is missing the all-important garage that we’d need up north.  This is a struggle, people.  We just want a nice little house in a nice little town, hopefully one that will meet our needs as we get older. Other items on our wish list?  Small town living with easy access to a larger city and a decent international airport.  Part of my hunt includes exploring each town’s library website (a vibrant, busy library says a lot about a place) as well as their Facebook page.  Looking past the mouthy keyboard warriors that lurk on every page, you can still get a good idea of the town’s vibe.  Let’s see - fair property taxes, decent cost of living, small town feel, good airport, seasons...sounds like we should stay put and just endure long, sticky summers, right?  Ugh, no.  Our reasons for wanting to relocate are so much more than just the summers.  Soooo, months and months of searching keep leading me to one state that ticks all of our boxes and then some.  Minnesota.  A myriad of cute towns surround Minneapolis and St. Paul, all with easy access to the fabulous airport.  I’m crazy about New Ulm (I love a town with lots of festivals) and I wouldn’t be heartbroken to live in Mankato, Owatonna, or a number of others.  Real estate is affordable, taxes are fair (and are used wisely!), all four seasons are present and accounted for, and quality of life seems really good - from healthcare to education to crime, they seem to have a handle on it.
Tumblr media
and you knew there was a but, right?  We could happily move there knowing that we’d be close to at least one of our kids.  Matt lives in Minneapolis and the thought of having him nearby warms my heart.  But he’s weighing the pros and cons of an opportunity that would take him to the east coast and more likely to far flung parts of the world. It’s quite possible that he’d be gone in a flash and we’d be in Minnesota, once again far from family. Right now we’re a day’s drive from everyone except Matt. Truly, we could do it in a day but it would be a miserable thirteen to fourteen hours. I have scoured Maryland and settled on a little place called Ocean Pines.  It’s okay, a bit further than I’d like to be from airports, etc -  it’s between two to two and a half hours to Baltimore, D.C. or Philadelphia’s.  That also means it’s just two hours from my favorite little girl. That would be HEAVEN.  But who retires to one of the most expensive states to live in?  Would it make our golden years miserable?  Who wants to pinch pennies when you should be enjoying life?  HELP!!  Where is home?  I left Alaska more than twenty years ago, the mister was a Florida boy -  we don’t want to live in either place.  I love the prairie,  he loves the mountains.  At one point we were looking at real estate on Prince Edward Island  (affordable and gorgeous!) but Canada doesn’t want us. Seriously, we filled out the online immigration form.  We wouldn’t be able to live there year round  and I can’t imagine having to go squat across the border for a couple of months every year once we’re old and rickety.   There are pros and cons to every place we’ve looked.  No spot is perfect and we have to decide what we can and can’t live without.  If someone could just plop this house down next to my grandbaby I’ll shut up about this forever.
Tumblr media
Imagine that house surrounded by hydrangeas in the summer.  I don’t think that’s too much to ask - just a little pink house near some people I love.  Some snow would be nice now and then. What a lovely dream. This boring blog post has been brought to you courtesy of my latest level of boredom.  It was either this or go dust the bedrooms, so you had to pay the price for my laziness.   My plan for this evening is to watch the Golden Globes and through that maybe find something interesting to watch.  We’re approaching the first anniversary of when we locked down here on the Pullen spread and we’ve run out of shows to binge.  Remember how naïve we all were when we thought we’d watch Tiger King and then lockdown would be over?  At least we’re headed in the right direction now.  That’s something.  I’m thrilled that my mother is fully vaccinated and so is Dr. Matt.  A handful of my dear friends are also protected now.  I’ve lost some friends to this horrible virus, including the husband of a dear Rat Patrol member.  Our little group now includes a widow for the first time. There’s been so much heartbreak over the last year.  I’m ready for it to stop. Okay - what a crazy, rambling post.  I think I’ll go dust.  It’s probably more productive.  If you’re still here, you deserve a cookie.  Treat yourself!  If you happen to know of the perfect town (I really just want to live in Stars Hollow) send me a message!  I’ll put my dust rag down and check it out! Sending out lots of love on this drippy Saturday. Stay safe, stay well, stay sane. XOXO - Nancy

—– natasha liu bordizzo . twilight . cis woman . she/hers .  ⟳  →  well hello , welcome to the good place , ISABELLA SWAN . in your file , it says that you are TWENTY & on earth so many people said you were RECLUSIVE & IMPETUOUS. lucky for you , we have our own system around here , meaning that we are well aware that you are COMPASSIONATE & DEVOTED , so there is no need to worry . hey ,  has anyone ever told you that you give off a THE SMELL OF PINE TREES AFTER A THUNDERSTORM, AN INSATIABLE CRAVING FOR ADRENALINE, NEVER FEELING QUITE COMFORTABLE IN YOUR OWN SKIN  type of vibe ? anyways , we better hurry , don’t want to be late !
𝙖 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙛 𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙮 !!
i won’t even ATTEMPT to try & summarize everything that has happened to this girl … so HERE is her wiki if u would like to venture into it !!
anyway … bella swan moved from phoenix, arizona to forks, washington to live with her father, charlie. although she personally wasn’t too fond of the idea, she knew it would make her mother happy, as she wanted to travel with her her stepfather phil. forks was certainly not the most ideal place ---- it was cold and rainy, which only made bella miss her life in phoenix even more.
somehow, she manages to befriend a couple people in her class, though she doesn’t quite “ click ” with them and still prefers to spend most of her time alone. she does, however, become intrigued by a boy in her class named edward cullen. after he saves her life one day, she realizes he isn’t quite normal. after awhile of back and forth, he eventually reveals himself to be a vampire.
what should scare bella away doesn’t, and instead she finds herself falling in love with him. they eventually begin dating, which of course becomes a point of controversy among his family and other vampires. it quickly becomes clear to bella that she wants nothing more than to be a vampire like edward and the rest of the cullens, as she sees it as the only way she can truly become a member of the family. she takes her mortality for granted, but she sees that as a small price to pay to spend forever with edward.
after years of ups and downs ( several near death experiences, vampire attacks, etc ) they eventually get married and have a daughter, which nearly kills bella. edward is then forced to change her in order to save her life. however, their daughter is killed by the wolf pack with edward’s death closely following as he turns himself over to the volturri. of course, this leaves bella absolutely heartbroken and she too, considers taking her own life.
several years pass after the deaths of her family members, with the rest of the cullens continuing to die off. bella slips into a depression similar to the one she experienced in new moon. her life felt like a joke. she finally got the one thing she finally wanted, but what did it mean if the one person she truly wanted to share it with wasn’t there ?
most days she struggles to even leave the house and she often goes so long without feeding that it nearly kills her. but she tries to stay strong, for charlie if not for anyone else. she knew her death would absolutely destroy him, so she tries to live.
bella meets her fate two and a half years after edward does, when irina denali seeks her out one cold morning. still bitter and angry over the loss of her mate laurent and seeing bella as the cause of the other cullen deaths, she kills bella to finally get revenge.
𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 !!
transforming into a vampire really did help her to feel more comfortable in her own skin and she feels a lot more confident than she used to !!! but i am ngl she is still Awkward as shit but we still love her anyway
loves her family SO MUCH and will not hesitate to do anything for them !!! insanely protective & will quite literally risk it all for any one of her family members or friends
usually just tends to keep to herself around the good place & minds her own mfin business , but she do be noticing shit tho . she appears to be very oblivious from the outside but she’s actually very perceptive & picks up on the tiniest details
can usually be found reading a book in a corner by herself. she’s not really one to go out of her way to make new friends, but she has been looking for her family.
the most stubborn person alive

I’ve been making some really hard decisions lately
Tumblr media

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Wiltshire is an English county bursting with history. Tales of medieval conquest and druid ceremonies resonate across the county, but these tales have subsequently become overshadowed by their more famous neighbour, the prehistoric Stonehenge.
This ancient monument has become a popular day trip from London due to its easy transport connections to Salisbury, but what about the rest of Wiltshire? As well as the stones, there are plenty more things to see and do and different ways to experience one of England’s most historic counties. I teamed up with Visit Wiltshire to experience a jam-packed 2 day Wiltshire itinerary. What a way to discover how to maximise your visit to Wiltshire and how to get off the main tourist trail and see way more.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Day one in Wiltshire
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Stay Somewhere Unique- Stonehenge Campsite And Glamping Pods
Staying in the same homogenous chain hotel time after time never really gives you any feeling of depth, diversity or the sense of truly discovering what a destination is about. Try and get away from the tourist traps of familiar chains and instead focus on finding something unique, different or that allows you to discover more of somewhere. If you’re planning a visit to Wiltshire and really want to be in the heart of this historic landscape, then a fantastic place to stay is the Stonehenge Campsite and Glamping Pods. With direct bus routes to Salisbury and Devizes, it’s easy to get around. The site has award-winning facilities and a range of camping options. If you want a truly unique experience there are a range of Glamping pods available, each with its own special touches. I stayed in the Butterfly Pod, a little wooden hut with a warming electric fireplace, double bed and tea making facilities. There was a private garden and picnic bench, perfect to enjoy the outdoors with a little privacy.
To find out more information about pricing and the different types of glamping pods available, visit the Stonehenge Campsite Website[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Walking The Salisbury Plain, A Guided Tour Through History
I always say the best way to get to know somewhere is to walk it, so to take this one step further, a personalised guided tour is like turning a place into a potential mastermind subject and getting to experience it in a way not everybody does. Chris from Guided Walks In Wiltshire took us on a guided tour around Salisbury Plain, pointing out interesting historical information and stories as we walked. The tour took a varied route from the gate of our campsite through winding villages and up into woodland and out to the vast windy openness of the Plain.
Not only is the countryside in this area known for its historical sites of importance such as the Neolithic Stonehenge and surrounding monuments like woodhenge, but the area also has a fascinating background with the British armed forces. The area is still highly used today for military training when you’re walking you encounter some obvious signs of this, including tank-crossings.

Visit Stonehenge
Even when you’re travelling consciously trying to avoid the big tourist traps in favour of experiencing somewhere like a local, there are always circumstances where it’s worth making an exception. When in Wiltshire it is definitely worth paying a visit to Stonehenge. Though this ancient monument lay shrouded in mystery it’s modernisation was front-page news, with English Heritage spending a whooping £27 Million renovating the sites visitors centre.

Kristi of Day Trip Tips has written an amazing blogpost detailing even more about visiting Stonehenge and Avebury. If you’re interested in visiting definitely give here blog post a read here. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Eat Like The Locals
Once you’re done with soaking up the historical landscapes and culture, you’ll probably have worked up quite an appetite. Food and culture are ingrained into one another so the best way to know somewhere is to eat what the locals eat. In England, this could be as simple as going to your local country pub. There are many small picturesque villages a short distance from the stones, meaning plenty of options for food lovers. I visited The Swan Inn at Stowford for a taste of the comfort food us British LOVE! There was plenty on the menu to choose from, I ordered the lamb shank with mint gravy, seasonal veg and mashed potato, which was cooked to perfection.
After dinner the local pub is also the best place to wind down, maybe have a drink with some locals. We did a bit of pub hopping and visited another small pub, The Boot Inn, that happened to be running a quiz that night. It was £2 entry per person, which included a surprisingly decadent half time snack of homemade pasty and roast potatoes. The pub had a very close-knit family vibe but was also exceedingly welcoming, which made for a very fun evening.

Visiting Devizes, A Wiltshire Market Town
After spending the first day of our trip getting to know the outdoor landscapes, local history and small villages of Wiltshire, Day two meant it was time to discover a more urbanised area. Devizes is a market town with a rich medieval past and fascinating architectural history, with over 500 listed buildings in the area. Alongside its regular Thursday market, the town has some great places to visit and explore.

Local business At Its Best: The Wadworth Brewery Tour
Located in Devizes since 1875, family-owned Wadwarth is a cornerstone of Devizes identity. Impressively, they have managed to keep up many of their traditions, which are now available for all to see during regular guided tours of the brewery. Walking around gives you a fascinating insight into the history of Wadworth and its production of typically British ales. Although some of the production has been modernised and changed with time (like the move away from coal power to greener alternatives) it is nice to see some firmly remain intact. Wadworth still uses traditional Shire horses to deliver casked ale to local pubs in Devizes. The three horses, Monty, Max and Archie, regularly attend local events and compete in shows. The brewery also has it’s own in house sign painters, creating traditional and personalised signs for its entire 200 plus partnership pubs. Prince Charles recently paid a visit to the brewery to honour its work in promoting the importance of community and local pubs across Britain.

Learn About History On A Local Scale
Unlike national museums that encompassed broad subjects of wide international importance, small museums can provide significant context on the important historical events of a specific location, meaning a much more targeted and therefore encompassing approach. In the case of The Wiltshire Museum, it significantly covers the history of the counties story, including but not limited to Stonehenge. The museum allows you to pursue its range of award-winning displays at leisure, including treasures discovered inside the stone circle by various archaeologists. If you want to learn about Stonehenge and the regions wider history in a quiet, relaxed and knowledgeable setting this museum is the place to visit.
For more information about the Wiltshire museum, visit their website [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I hope you enjoyed reading my first Two Days To Do It Differently feature. Living on the Wiltshire border myself, it is an area I am very familiar with and one I know can easily be a tourist trap, what with having one of the most well-known attractions in England. I thought for the first feature, it’d be nice to start on a local scale and try and see somewhere close by a little differently. I have found it’s common to have the tendency to take places nearby for granted, instead favouring more far-flung and exotic destinations. Exploring Wiltshire showed me just how much potential lays right on your own doorstep.
*Disclaimer: Thank you to visit Wiltshire for partnering up with me and guiding me in finding some fantastic things to do across the county. They provided the accommodation and activities free of charge for this visit.
If you would like to learn more about what to do in Wiltshire, the best place to go is the Visit Wiltshire Website
Thanks for reading,
Rayner

Hii! Can you do a one-shot with bakugou having a girlfriend who wears all black (like she gives of that “don’t fuck with me” vibe) but she’s actually like a huge nerd. Like she loves comic book (like marvel) and she’s really socially awkward
immediately thought of that vine where the kid screams “DONT FUCK WITH ME I HAVE THE POWER OF GOD AND ANIME ON MY SIDE AHHHHHH”. love this idea though omg and i really enjoyed writing it. i’m sorry this is so bad sksksk i tried
geeky goth || katsuki bakugou
If there was one person in U.A. that should be avoided, it was Katsuki Bakugou. He was rude, brash and overall rather unpleasant to everyone he came across, particularly so to those who made an effort to challenge him. It was evident that his goal of becoming Number One Hero took priority over everything else, friendships and relationships sat on the back burner. Then again, not many people would be willing to enter any kind of relationship with the boy based on his reputation alone. There seemed to be a silent consensus among his classmates that it was unlikely Bakugou would ever have a girlfriend - out of all the girls he did know he only knew two of their names, the others he probably wouldn’t be able to pick out from a line-up.
“Wait, Bakugou’s dating her?”
“There’s no way! Not even someone like her could fall for someone like him.”
“Be quiet you two! They might hear us!”
Kaminari, Sero and Kirishima watched in shock as Bakugou slung an arm around her shoulder, pulling her close and leading her away from the school. He kept his eyes on her as she talked, a small smile slipping onto her lips as she told him about the new special move she had come up with earlier that day. The permanent scowl on Bakugou’s face seemed to fade away, replaced by a lazy smile as he twirled some strands over her hair around his fingers, only talking when he she asked him a question. Other students stood and watched in shock as the couple walked towards the gates, mumbling among themselves and pointing at them carelessly, scuttling away quickly when either one of them flashed them a scowl.
“We have to follow them,” Kaminari said, not waiting from a response before rushing after them. Sero and Kirishima exchanged a hesitant look, hurrying after Kaminari and each grabbing one of his arms before he could step into their lines of view.
“If we’re going to follow them then we can’t be seen,” Kirishima whispered, eyes fixed on the pair just metres in front of them.
“I can’t believe Bakugou’s actually got a girlfriend,” Sero murmured. “Isn’t that the girl everyone avoids? She wears all black out of school right? Apparently all of her Hero costume is black too.”
“So Bakugou likes bad girls, huh?” Kaminari mumbled, eyes studying the girls form intently. “I can’t blame him - she’s pretty cute, but I bet she has a total goth personality.”
“Whatever you do, don’t repeat that to Bakugou,” Kirishima advised, flinging his arm out to stop the other two when the pair in front of them suddenly came to a stop at a pedestrian crossing. They watched as Bakugou jabbed the button, arm dropping down from her shoulders and wrapping around her waist, pulling her back flush against his front and resting his chin on her shoulder, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
The three boys watched on in shock, mouths wide open as they watched the exchange, noises of surprise escaping them when he let her go and interlinked their fingers, pulling her across the street and into the store directly in front of the pedestrian crossing. They quickly made their way to the crossing, sprinting across it before the cars waiting there patiently could move again and shoving their way into the store. Their eyes instantly found Bakugou’s ash blond hair peeking above some shelves at the opposite end of the store, his hushed voice floating over to them, the words not quite distinguishable. They slipped into the isle behind them, peering through the shelves at them and watching in awe as she leafed through some thin paper books, occasionally pulling one out and placing it on top of the slowly growing pile in Bakugou’s hands.
Kirishima looked away briefly to move some of boxes obscuring his view, before hesitating when his eyes landed on the familiar plastic figure inside one of them. The writing on the box read ‘Captain America’, and sure enough the figure inside was a miniature replica of the character. His gaze fluttered upwards, only to be met by more figurines depicting characters in their infamous poses.
“Wait, are we in a comic book store?”
Kaminari and Sero turned to him, eyebrows arched in confusion before they finally began to look around. Their mouths dropped open once more as they studied the figurines, eyes eventually finding their way back to where Bakugou had been standing, wincing when they realised he was no longer there.
“What the hell are you extras doing here?”
The three immediately tensed, reluctantly tearing their gaze away from the spot Bakugou and his girlfriend had been moment before and meeting the fiery red gaze of their friend. He held a stack of comic books in one arm, the other stretched backwards and holding her onto her hand as she hid behind him, peeking round for a second before blushing and hiding once again.
“The same reason as you, Bakugou!” Kaminari squeaked out finally.
Bakugou arched a brow. “What, so you’re all each other’s girlfriends now?”
“No, we were just looking at some of these figurines! Sero really wanted a Captain America one, and oh look we’ve found it!” Kirishima rushed out, snatching the figurine off of the shelf and thrusting it into Sero’s arms. Bakugou’s girlfriend peeked out from behind him again, eyes now locked onto the figurine in Sero’s arms. “Anyway, aren’t you going to introduce us to your girlfriend, Bakugou?”
An annoyed snarl escaped Bakugou’s lips, and he tugged you forwards gently, shooting a reassuring look your way. “Babe, these are some damn extras in my class. Shitty Hair, Dunce Face and Flat Face. And you lot, this is my girlfriend. Don’t do anything fucking weird or I’ll kill you.”
“It’s nice to meet you,” Kirishima said with a small wave, which she returned shyly. “Bakugou, I didn’t know you had a girlfriend!”
“What’s it to you?” Bakugou snapped.
“I didn’t realise you liked Marvel too, Sero.” Everyone’s eyes instantly locked onto the girl tucked into Bakugou’s side, Sero blinking it confusion at her before looking down at the boxed figurine in his arms. “That figurine’s limited addition. You must be a pretty big fan if you want to spend all that money on it.”
“Oh, uh, yeah! I guess I am,” he said awkwardly, eyes fluttering down to the price tag and almost wincing when he saw the ¥ 10000 price sticker on it. His eyes snapped back to her, her eyes still fixed on the figurine. “Oh! If you want it I’ll give it to you. You seem to be pretty into all of this stuff and I’m more of a casual fan so, take it if you want it. I don’t mind.”
Her eyes widened in surprise. “Really?”
“Yeah, of course,” he said, handing it to her.
“Thank you.”
“Yeah, no problem.”
An uncomfortable silence hung over the five of them, before Bakugou sighed and led his girlfriend towards the counter to pay without so much as a goodbye. Sero, Kirishima and Kaminari shuffled outside of the store, collapsing on a nearby bench in slight shock, unable to form a coherent sentence to summarise what they had just experienced. Eventually Kaminari sat up straight, slamming a clenched fist into his other palm, eyes twinkling in admiration.
“Who’d have thought he’d get such a cute nerd? Good one Bakugou!”
