Emizel can't remember the last time he wore something this fancy. He buttons up the black shirt, then slips into the jacket and buttons that up as well. The slimmer fit is making his skin crawl, he hates it when his clothes cling to him like this- it's like he can't fuckin' move, and he likes being able to move, thanks-

"Are you almost done?" Brood calls, impatient motherfucker, and Emizel ties his tie. It's terrible. He snorts at the- whatever that is- the loose knot around his neck, and opens the changing room's curtain.

Brood raises an eyebrow. His lips don't even twitch, his eyes still hidden by the sunglasses. His cat, still draped across his shoulders, meows and flicks her tail.

"What," Emizel spits.

Brood reaches forward, tugging the tie loose. "You'll have to present yourself with more dignity than that if you want to make any sort of good impression."

"Yeah, yeah," she growls, "whatever."

Brood's fingers are quick, he does up the tie neater and faster than Emizel could ever on his own. Idly, she wonders how long it's been since someone tied a tie for her- her dad did it once, when she was first learning how, but it's been...years. Probably not enough years, but years.

It's kinda nice. Weirdly. Super weird to be fussed over, but not terrible.

Brood snaps his fingers in front of Emizel's face, making him flinch back.

"Focus, boy," the man sneers, "is it acceptable?"

She brushes off the pants- it's still a bit too tight for comfort- (it's not that it doesn't fit, it's just more form fitting than his usual getup). Her attempt to loosen her tie is met with Brood's hands batting hers away. Emizel growls at him. "It's fine."

"Good. Get changed."

Emizel swipes the curtain back into place. He climbs out of the suit, (suits are fucking awful, why would anybody want to wear one), pulls on his usual getup, and walks back out with each piece of the suit draped over his arm.

Brood tsks at him, (fucker), and points to the hangers up on the wall.

"No."

"You're going to make us late," Brood answers. "Don't be a child."

Emizel sputters. What the fuck? A child?

"Why don't you do it if you care so much?"

"Quickly," Brood snaps his fingers again. His cat slips off his shoulder and disappears, as if swallowed by shadows.

Emizel flips him off, shoves the black shirt into his hands, and turns to retrieve the hangers.

It takes all of three seconds to hang both of them up. To her surprise, Brood actually folded her shirt. He passes it back to her, along with the horrible tie, and together they make their way to the front.

Brood pays for the new clothes with Emizel's money. She grinds her teeth and pretends not to care. (It doesn't work.)

She has to change in the fuckin' car.

Brood covers the car in shadow and looks away as she tugs her pants on. The shirts are easier, swiftly buttoned and tucked in. Brood helps her with her tie again, gentler than last time. Once she's fully dressed, he drops the shadows and offers some hair gel.

They talk about Elysium- Brood isn't her friend, there's gonna be other vampires, yadda yadda yadda. She slicks her hair back as best she can in the rearview mirror.

"Ready?" Brood asks as she hands the gel back.

Emizel pauses, one hand on the door.

"What?"

"Are you ready," he repeats.

"No I-I heard you the first time," Emizel says. "Why are you asking? I thought you'd just. Go. Leave me behind?"

She can see her reflection in Brood's glasses again as he considers her.

"I am responsible for you," Brood says eventually. He starts climbing out of the car. "Stay close until we get inside."

The door shuts behind him.

Emizel sighs, "oooohkay," and climbs out of the car.

Ohh... lots of things...

There's a stream clip somewhere where Oli says Joel is a compulsive liar and I latched onto that. Man lies ALL the time about stuff just. because. he just does it, he doesn't think. it's usually harmless?? like "do you like x food" "ohh yeah! i looove x food! ^^" because... what if they get mad at him for saying the wrong thing :(

I dunno, man's got anxiety and he lies a lot compulsively because of it- also lots of "what are you doing?" "nothing!!" when it's literally. the most arbitrary thing. you don't need to hide man it's okay,

Oli lies to be funny. He lies to commit more to the bit. He also lies to repress his feelings and bottle them up so they never see the light of day <3

Nah the REAL worst thing Joel's ever done was probablyyy... let Oli stay the night that one time?? Like after the events of this fic- I'd imagine Joel's parents were Royally (hah) upset the next morning when they see that their child was sleeping with the son of their (now dead) political rivals ghjfgjf... like Joel feels 100% justified in the whole thing (and also rather enjoyed it, tyvm) but also,, he was probably grounded for literally a month if not longer afterwards hgjfhgjf.....

For Oli... I'm sure he's an absolute Joy to have in class if you know what I mean (/silly) like he is tormenting the halls of the palace and being a general nuisance but none of it would really be "worst thing ever" bc he's a prince and also just goofy so he's annoying but the staff loves him yk. I think what would be considered the "worst" thing though is gonna be in the next fic I post :3c

Gosh... I mean... I do kill them kinda. That's pretty significant. Joel dies horribly and Oli is trapped in stone for 200 years. That's pretty awful.

But that hasn't happened Yet and I dunno if I'll ever have the heart to write that particular scene ghfjgd... like I know how it happens in my head. but. I can't do that to them by putting it in writing </3

Besides that... Oli's parents did die too. Still dunno if it was political conspiracy or not. But either way, that's pretty awful and traumatic for him- and he couldn't be with his best friend for a few months before that and then afterwards he STILL couldn't be with him for a while... brutal for him :(

And Joel's upbringing is just kinda... sad. He's sooo lonely and then he FINALLY gets a friend and of COURSE it's the ONE PERSON he's not allowed to really talk to and his parents aren't supportive at ALL of their friendship but they gotta grin and bear it bc yaayyy alliesss and it's so tense and awful and makes him feel guilty because it's like he's gotta choose his family or his only friend but his family was always so neglectful anyway so why would he choose them but that's his Home and- anyways. Any event involving that whole dynamic is his worst, hope this helps ^^

Hmm... anger is tricky. I feel like Joel is definitely the kinda guy to bottle it all up because he's not allowed to Feel those things or Show them yk. I think Oli's kinda the opposite?? Y'know the post that's like "life shattering tragedy = oh rip L" but "mild inconvenience = i want to kill everything dead forever !!!" he's like that. Gets Real Mad over all the small things but when something Big happens he's just. oh. ok 👍

I'VE BEEN MEANING TO TALK ABOUT THIS FOR SO LONG. BUT HE LOVES THEM. SO SO MUCH.

Like it's a special interest of his but like unofficially. If given the chance he would 110% give up being royalty to go be a field researcher studying sniffers. But also not a field researcher because they're endangered :(

In my au I've decided sniffers are indeed still alive but they're (almost) all kept in one big sanctuary in Mezalea. Maybe there's a few wild ones left but like no one's seen em so it's assumed they're all there. I figured if this au takes place ~200 years before "canon empires" and also irl dodo birds were around in the 1800s... yeah sure, why not? Sniffers can be canon <3

Of course when Oli hears about this he absolutely learns how to shapeshift into one to impress Joel. Which absolutely works. Because oh my void sniffers,,,,

I can't really think of an Oli hc I've been wanting to talk about?? Just that 1) he regresses into small animals when things get Too Much, and 2) he likes to shapeshift into funny little animals to play with Joel sometimes ^^

Not too many i love talking abt these things (holds cooper and shakes them like a squeaky toy) The Thang

1: Why do they wear diapers? (comfort? necessity?) It's about 70% comfort, 30% necessity! It's more comfort than necessity now that Cooper's not usually being his own cg, but he's actually a bit more comfortable the actual usage of them now since he has someone to help w them. B4, when Cooper was mostly their own cg, whenever they would end up using them it would almost always pull them out bc they had to clean up + feeling embarrassed

Also lowkey tends to actually need-need them when puppy-mode! If Cooper's puppy-re, and not wearing a diap, keep an eye out for if they get squirmy bc that means the puppy gotta go

2: When did they start wearing diapers? Copper actually kinda stubbornly worked their way backwards! He literally used everything but diaps at first- even using smth like pads (which are NOT. designed for that type of use but it wasn't actually being used at that point) until he finally was like "god. okay fine." (coop was lowkey embarrassed abt how it helped keep his brain settled but now he's like *smacks ward upside the head w a diap* WEAR IT MORON <-in a supportive nice way)

5: What are their favorite patterns/designs? Pawprints,Bones, Dinosaurs, Green, (Plain) Purple ones, not really a fan of the more fem/girly designs! Would probably wear barney ones or smth (green + purple + dinosaurs)! Would rather plain coloured ones than patters they dont like tbh

9: What’s their Dream Diaper? Honestly, something just very comfortable to sleep in, since that's usually what they do when regressed! OR easy and quiet to move in, because Puppy-re Cooper is not a fan of crinkly-like noises. Definitely Dinosaur themed- maybe a package that had various dinosaurs for different diaps!

12: What scent of baby powder is their favorite? (or would be their favorite? feel free to make one up!) Honestly, if Cooper can get away w a non-scented one, he will use that! Also lowkey, Cooper will 9/10 prefer to do that on his own unless he's already very comfortable settled down! But if he's just getting settled, he usually does that part himself (he doesnt usually mind help getting dressed afterwards)

Puppy-Cooper will absolutely get it everywhere, do not let puppy-cooper near the powder <3

13: Have they ever had a daytime accident? Yeah, usually post-big naps or if Cooper's really settled down and teeny. He's getting better at letting Bones help him get cleaned up and changed, but 9/10 he has a hard time settling back down. Puppy-Cooper is more likely, esp if Puppy-Cooper is being sillaaay! If they're squirmy, like real squirmy, either get that puppy to a bathroom or diap him REAL fast. (Puppy Coop always gets so miserable about it ): )

14: Do they wet the bed? Sometimes, usually if they go to sleep regressed and wake up the next morning but forgot to put a little extra nighttime protection on! Especially if Cooper sleeps in. They're more of a morning-ish person, so if its past 10 am and Cooper's still in bed, there's gonna be a clean-up usually

15: Who changes them? (their cg? anyone who’s comfortable? only themself?) If Cooper's just settling into regressing, usually they'll get themself changed. If they're more or less already regressed, they don't mind Bones helping/changing them as much, but might be a bit moody (cranky baby bitey).

Puppy-Cooper is so squirmy abt it. there's a decently good chance that Bones will change him, and within the hour Cooper will be attempting to wiggle free (not. NAKEY but you know. commando in a onesie)

Cooper will absolutely not let anyone other than Bones help him. To him, at least Bones is a doctor so he's not exactly embarrassed abt bodily functions. Cooper will absolutely lock himself in the bathroom rather than let anyone else help him

the first ima shout about (it also might be my favorite but shhh) is a 3rd life renaissance faire au :D its currently treebark and dogwarts centric and is quite literally full of half formed sentences and contextless dialogue, but theres three pages of worldbuilding and plot and im really happy with it so far :D, rens the king of dogwarts (the kingdom the faires set in), and the dogwarts army are, well, the knights of dogwarts. and you know martyn's creeper prank? he makes goose noises instead cause its hilarious and it still scares the crap out of everyone but scott asjkjafh. and ima stop there i dont want to reveal any more cause spoilers askjfhas

another wip is post-canon joel's empires s2 finale!! he is regretting a lot of things and theres three more joels than usual. its likely going to be multichap and full of angst (if i can actually make angst without adding puns into it asjksajfh) with a happy (?) ending :D

a third im hyped about is a waterpark au of sorts, based off of ethos old turf war minigame, The RipZone!! its mostly mycelium resistance centric, purely because i have more of a grasp on writing them than the hep. im not quite sure where to plots going for this one, but i have just enough planned out to be insane about it askdjfaskjfh. theyre highschool ago and its set in australia, at the end of the year, so its the beginning of summer and schools just let out (prime waterpark time babayyy)

and the last is another limited life coral kids fic woooo!! the working title is 'whats your favorite constellation?' and i feel it captures the vibes im going for surprisingly well. its barely written and im hoping it wont be as long as the last lmao, im thinking only about 1k words, and it also wont be explicitly romantic. im playing off of the concept of giving each winner being assigned / associated with a symbol (sun, stars, moon, etc.), and the general fandom confusion on what to give to martyn. and wait i wrote a lil synopsis thing for this like two days ago hold on

'centred on scott and martyn, ties tower has just (or is being) constructed, scott's built them a base, the chaos of bread bridge hasnt quite begun. and, while laying on their beds under the sky, scott talks about the stars above them, lamenting about a past life. martyn and scott discuss the dilemma that is the death games. scott doesnt want to win again and they wonder if martyn's going to win this time. martyns not sure if he wants to (he does). they mostly talk about the stars though, and their favourite constellation. its supposed to be nice and calm, fairly reminiscent of the calm before a storm.'

i edited it a bit, but i reckon its still got the vibes down pretty good :D

oh and also, the fics im probably most proud so far are htgth, really the podcast au in general, and surface of the seas :D

i chose htgth / the podcast au quite a few reasons! theyre the first works i ever finished and published, and, excuse my ego /hj, but, im so happy with the way i got the bad boy's voices to fit really well!! i was (and still am honestly) shocked on how well i wrote them!! (also i really like htgth cause i set myself up some plot points im excited to build up on whenever i get back to writing it akhkfasjhf)

and surface of the seas, partly bc im just really proud of myself for writing that much ksfksajdfh. i think i mostly like it cause the little narrative comparisons and bits of lore just scattered around it :D also when i was almost finished, tying up the loose ends n stuff, it was at around 3-4k and the word count just kept going up its funny now but it was quite daunting when it was happening askfjhahfs.

oh and also maybe ive lost a piece of me, almost purely because of the puns :D

But if she’s going to be miserable for a while, she might as well do it in comfort...it’s only early spring after all. She’s at the foot of the stairs though when she catches sight of a familiar jacket. She stumbles; no way, it can’t be- she hasn’t seen him, her former co-worker, her friend in years. But then it is. Even if with the the facial hair and maybe the even more prominent bags beneath his eyes, Barlowe, no RAY, looks like he’s aged a decade. Suki stares at him for a long moment before looking down at the box at her feet. “...Help me carry this?”

there's a lot that's changed for calum since his conception on here! but the biggest one has to be the way mana passed away. originally she died in childbirth so erza was a newborn when calum was going thru the worst of the grief. by pushing mana's death back a few years, it complicates the impact of her death on both calum and erza because now erza has distinct memories of their mom and of a time where calum, who hit an all time low, was on the verge of abandoning them too. both of these gives calum more of an obstacle in his narrative arc beyond just 'moving forward from the grief of losing a loved one'. now he actually has to face that grief and move forward from it if he wants to preserve his relationship with erza.

there's a quote i found on pinterest that immediately made patrick come to mind: "so much more was said in the unsaid."

patrick is a very quiet person to begin with so when he's faced with traumatic events, he tends to get even quieter bc there are just no words he can use to describe what he's going through...which is ironic considering that he's a literature professor and is usually eloquent in writing and speech :'(

this is terrible question and i hate it....sjdfklsdj genuinely and truly patrick would try, in both verses, to save both the five ppl on the train and the one person...however i think if it were up to him, he'd be fine with sacrificing himself to save both parties as well....this might be a cop-out answer winter, but i feel like patrick would be clever enough to find a way to save both parties...mostly because it'd be like a super difficult puzzle and u know patrick's good at puzzles :D

ough i think he'd use it pretty passive aggressively more than genuinely sjdfklsdj. he has suuuuper bad RSD and thinks everyone hates him, (< totally not me projecting /lying), so he's hesitant to call people "friend" not because he doesn't like them, but because he doesn't know if the liking is mutual

3. How often do they show their genuine emotions to others versus just the audience knowing?

he's pretty stoic!! cracks a smile at stupid jokes but for the most part doesn't talk unless he's prompted (or has something snarky to say). if you don't know him it's pretty hard to tell how he's feeling, but once you can read his body language it's clear as day and so incredibly obvious that it makes you question how you couldn't read him before,

8. How loose is their use of the phrase ‘I love you’?

what's the opposite of loose. tight? he doesn't say it ever. winston dragged it out of him once and then never again because atmos was super uncomfortable about being forced to say it- he says it when he really means it. he says it a lot in other ways though. actions speak louder than words in this case!! (do you need anything? i'll do the dishes for you. just swinging by to give you some of your favorite candy. of course i can help you move! etc etc.)

dnd atmos: check for the tracker in his arm. if it starts Doing Things then his reaction to it could tip someone off that something's wrong

ask him about his paw print tattoos, like what specific dog they are. he will give you the scientific name and the color of the dog's fur (autism /silly)

winston knows his scent really well so if the imposter smells different then that's it for them

uhhh idk about minecraft atmos. if he's suddenly chillin then Something Is Very Wrong. he is SO anxious all of the time.

i was going to say pottery makes him deeply uncomfortable but actually he'd kinda vibe with it so. hmmm. i'll have to think about this one

stuff crumbling makes him really uncomfortable. like if you get a clump of dirt and crumble it to pieces in your hand it makes him feel itchy and weird (this is mostly minecraft atmos, who used to be terracotta before The Incident)

starts sweating bullets frfr. if he's lying for fun then it doesn't matter and he just laughs it off. if he's trying to get away with something he KNOWS he's a bad liar and is already calculating the consequences of lying to people who have the power to make his life worse- if someone doesn't believe him he will absolutely try to dig the lie a little deeper to see if he can somehow still get away with it, but whatever he comes up with falls apart because he doesn't think things through before he talks in that instance

37. What’s a secret they haven’t told serious romantic partners and don’t plan to tell?

he isn't currently fleshed out enough to have any secrets, tbh, maybe the story about how he got the tracker in his arm? they know it comes from some old organization he used to be a part of, but they don't know specifics and he never wants to tell them.

totally absolutely picked up talking with his hands from winston, mans now adds all four arms and gestures around a lot while he talks

he's picked up a bunch of different greetings from several of the planets he's visited, as well as some stuff from folks around the [Syndicate] - some weird fish greeting from Trixie, probably. apologies for the lack of specifics
