Hey all. I kinda want to get into reading marvel comics but I don’t know which run to start with. Here are some characters that interest me based on what I’ve already read/Movies I’ve seen/certain video game titles:
- Spider-Man
- The Runaways
- The Young Avengers
- Squirrel Girl
- Gwenpool
- Shuma-Gorath
- X-Men
- Spider-Man 2099
- Daredevil
This list will probably be added to substantially.

Dr. Strange vs. Shuma-Gor-- No, I'm sorry, the lawyers tell me I have to say "Gargantos".
God, I love Stephen's entrance. His twirling cape flourish as he leaps from the balcony. Yeah, you know exactly what you're doing, you egotistical ponce.
This fight feels like a huge step up from the fights in the first Dr. Strange film. The first movie depicted its sorcerous battles as largely built around martial combat with Green Lantern construct weapons, most commonly shields and lashes.
Here, we see that Multiverse of Madness hasn't entirely done away with that. But it's only a small part of how Wong and Stephen fight, with much more creative and imaginative spellcraft also making its way into their styles - Particularly Stephen's, who seems much more comfortable casting sweeping esoteric effects than the more martially-focused Wong.
Wong fights like a battle-mage, while Stephen fights like a wizard. This new divergence of style fits both of their characters well, as Wong's a highly-trained and decorated warrior of Kamar-Taj and Stephen's... Well, a surgeon. There's care and precision in how Stephen extracts America from the bus using a localized Mirror Dimension spell, and in how he ultimately defeats Gargantos by targeting its eye as a weak point.

Who was responsible for Shuma-Gorath's use at Marvel Comics and was the name ever truly licensed from Robert E Howard's estate?
I've sought answers to this question for years, guessing at the truth but having a tough time piecing it together. With only a few classic appearances to his name, Shuma-Gorath's creation hasn't been documented online like other Marvel characters.
The real answer, it turns out, has been hiding in plain sight. In the forward to Marvel Masterworks: Doctor Strange Vol. 4, Roy Thomas explains how the Doctor Strange run in Marvel Premiere came together.
So there you have it. Thomas loosely plotted out the Marvel Premiere arc and even went so far as to procure a license from REH's literary agent, but his new job as EIC meant that someone else had to write the comics.
Marvel had the rights to use the scraps of REH's catalog and Shuma-Gorath's name was in there, waiting to be invoked. Gardner Fox and Steve Englehart were eventually the writers who did it.
(The above panels, however, are from much later in Strange Tales #14 by Peter B Gillis and Richard Case.)

Here's that Shuma one! Might be bright purple-pink octopus bias, but this by far the most photogenic custom out of the bunch.

A Doctor Strange 2. írója megerősítette, hogy két különböző karakter Gargantos és Shuma-Gorath
Fellélegezhetnek a rajongók #Marvel #DoctorStrange #Gargantos #ShumaGorath
