What do you think as Hermione's career would be post battle of Hogwarts? To me her being minister for magic really doesn't make sense. She does not have patience or tact to wade through murky waters of politics 😭😭

So hard to say! The Trio are so, so young when we leave them, I find it almost impossible to project their futures farther than a few years out. The job that suited me at 17 would be radically unsuited to me now. That's why of all the Trio, Ron's ending strikes me as the most realistic — he jumps straight into the save-the-world business again, burns out, realizes he's actually Done The Fuck Enough, Thanks, and pivots into a low-stress career where he gets to see his family a lot. Feels accurate! The others are weirder to me because they do seem to just... pick a lane and stay there.

With Hermione, you could spin her a couple ways. You could say that she leans into her bookish side and does research or teaching, which is not my preference for a couple reasons (namely, I don't think Hermione would like academia as a profession; she finds her classwork interesting and enjoys intellectual validation, but she'd be stifled and wasted in a DPhil program, and she'd be infuriated by the administrative politicking of your average higher-ed faculty). You could say that she gets disaffected with politics and ends up as a barrister or a lobbyist of some kind, but if anything that requires more political finesse, because you don't actually have institutional power, you're just handling the people who make decisions and trying to persuade them of your goals. This is not Hermione's preferred method of influence. She's not even particularly good at persuasion, she just happens to be smart enough (and right often enough) that people take her ideas seriously.

Or you could say her brashness fades with the years into a softened flavor of tell-you-like-it-is honesty, which some politicians actually do successfully trade on; as we see in British politics today, you don't have to be all that charming or clever to get ahead, you just need to be really driven and well-connected (which Hermione completely is; she fought shoulder-to-shoulder with the first postwar Minister and her bestie, the Literal Messiah, runs the Auror Office.) But I don't know if Hermione especially wants to be Minister, after the war. She's just watched years of horrendous bureaucratic incompetence plunge the country into a violent civil conflict. She's had not one, but two Ministers of Magic try to bully or shame her friends into complicity with fascism. Her view of government is... likely extremely dark.

But Hermione also isn't the kind of person who sees her life as a quest for happiness. Babygirl has a savior complex that makes Harry look selfish. (She basically kills her parents — yeah, obliviating is a form of murder, #changemymind — "for their own good," and justifies every batshit, vindictive, mean-spirited move she ever pulls on the grounds that it "helps" one of her friends.) She is a mean, lean, dragon-slaying machine, and she needs a dragon. After Voldemort, the Ministry is the no. 1 threat to muggle-borns and non-wizarding Beings. As a war heroine with basically infinite political capital, I'd be surprised if she didn't try to do something there. That said, Hermione is so vivacious and dynamic that she could potentially grow in a hundred different directions; it's possible that all of this, while true of her at 18, becomes completely inaccurate by 22. That's why I'm not too fussed about any particular fanon interpretation.

I do. I know some people think either he wouldn't have or he would've missed so that's why the writers had him shoot Dorian instead, but mmmmmm no, I don't personally think so. I like to think that if he had taken the shot, his shaky hands would've caused him to shoot her fatally.

Mostly because I'm already so normal about the fact that of the Ericson crew, Marlon and Louis are the only ones with a body count. Well, that we know of, but shown to us in the game, at least. Plus, we know it's Louis' first kill.

Like yeah, Clementine and AJ become part of the crew and they have bigger body counts, and if we're counting indirect kills caused by actions, then Tenn has a count... and I guess everyone has blood on their hands for blowing up the boat... but I'm talking about killed directly with a weapon like....... I lied, I'm not normal about that at all, Louis and Marlon are the ones who have killed someone in Louis' route. I'm also not normal about the fact that Louis kills Dorian and then even as he's clearly in shock, he tries to go with Clementine to get AJ, and then later on when they talk about it, he says it feels like bile but not quite and he's glad he has it in him to do it.... listen, listen, listen... I'm obsessed with that.

Anyway, so if Louis shot Minerva, I think he would've accidentally killed her and can you imagine? He's already enough of a mess after killing the woman who pinned him down and tried to cut his finger off [or succeeded] but he knew Minerva, they were friends before the twins were taken. Even Violet couldn't kill her even though that would've been the smarter thing to do, and we know thanks to meta knowledge that killing her would've saved lives, but Violet couldn't, and I don't think Louis would intentionally either.

Speaking of Violet, if Louis killed Minerva, I hate to think about what that would've done to Vi. I think she might've actually left at that point, like what was planned before it got changed to her being burned. I don't think she would've attacked Louis over it, though, like yeah she attacked Clementine in the cell but Louis? I don't know, but I don't think so just because it's Louis and he'd be a mess about it anyway.

Though if he did kill her, it would be a neat parallel to draw... y'know, because Louis forgave AJ for killing Marlon even though he was pissed and heartbroken, and Violet was annoyed with him the entire time... but could she ever forgive Louis for killing Minerva? Y'know? We already have a similar parallel with AJ shooting Tenn, but still.

If Clementine killed Minerva in that moment, though, then I could see Violet attacking her since in her eyes, Clem proved her right.

So yeah, I get why they added the Dorian kill to his route. It adds another compelling element to Louis as a character, but we also need Minerva alive for episode 4; Louis can't kill her, he can't miss, and he's not going to stay with her because we need Violet to stay on the boat and him to be on shore for all routes.

The people who are genuinely angry that Devi didn't end up with Des or Ethan like one of them didn't throw her under the bus for his trifling mother who dismissed her trauma and the other isn't a literal criminal who could have landed her on academic probation only see Devi as a placeholder for their hot boy fantasies.

You don't see her as her own person with her own set of quirks and principles that she spent learning and unlearning over 4 years. You don't see her friendship and eventual romance with the one she ended up with as something desirable because it's not something YOU desire. You don't care that it's something that works for Devi because you don't care that she's not you. She's not self-insert y/n with her messy bun of the early 2010s and it irks you that she ended up with someone as equally flawed and intelligent she grew to love and who loved her just as much because Ben isn't your typical swoon worthy love interest boy band member either.

Age: I guess she’d be 20 given when Milgram started huh. Gross.

Status: Milgram Staff, Machine Technician

Symbols/imagery: ballet, musical theater, potted plants, board games, various bugs

Song genre: very similar to Mahiru's, something upbeat and extra pop-y

Tentatively she's number 011? She's not really prisoner but she's also not free to come and go, so I'm not actually sure if she'd get a number

Story: I figured since the project is supposed to be realistic/present day, the mv machine would be brand new and unpredictable tech, so they’d want someone keeping up on maintenance and making sure the brain-invasive process won’t cause any harm to the prisoners. She was studying abroad in Japan working on some cool neuroscience tech (irl I know nothing about technology or brains but shh) and she stumbled upon the Milgram team’s machine/plans. Long story short she was dragged into the experiment to make sure things ran smoothly.

Writer's Reasoning: She’s really fun for me to play around with, as she allows me to work with a character who is simultaneously trapped in the prison but hasn’t committed any murder**, someone who has a tiny bit of pull over Es’ mindset in conversation but not the final decision (aka the voting system), and someone who would have a reason to see all the canon content.* I really enjoy the character interactions and dynamics Milgram has set up so far, so it’s been super fun seeing how things change for better and worse when someone not quite aligned with either Milgram/the prisoners is thrown into the mix!

*As much as I love dramatic irony in fiction, it would drive me crazy if I knew every detail of of the vds/mvs but Rose didn't – and every single Milgram character is The Worst Communicator Ever so I couldn’t justify that she’d hear it second hand from them...

**I’ll also add that I don’t believe I’m above murder lmao – the main thing stopping me from making her a prisoner was a) the reason above, and b) there’s no way I could have produced a full music video, and it would've driven me crazy if she didn't have one 😂 Still, I imagine she has to run some tests on the machine to make sure things are calibrated correctly, so she'd extract little things here and there (giving me the opportunity to think up lyric snippets and recurring symbols for her without worrying about full encompassing music videos :))

Story roles:

She’s a bit conflicted -- she’s officially Milgram staff and knows she should remain neutral on the prisoners, since she won’t be allowed to interfere with the process/executions. At the same time, her job description is literally “make sure they all are safe and healthy” and she's way too emotional to avoid getting hopelessly attached to everyone 😅

I really enjoy the theory that the machine extracts videos based off of priming, so one of Rose’s duties involves listening in on the interrogation and making sure there’s been enough material discussed/not too much time has passed overall (hence the ringing of the bell happening at different lengths for each vd). She then watches the mvs along with Es to make sure there are no machine glitches.

I'm not afraid to admit she falls into Mary Sue territory every so often by being everyone's friend, because it's less about "aw everyone likes her" and more about "canon is too painful rn and I need a fix-it tool to take care of these guys and give them hugs and tell them someone forgives them and cares about them and unfortunately these characters wouldn't let anyone less than a friend do that." Rest assured she's definitely not perfect and will fuck everything up on occasion :3

Miscellaneous: Whenever I play around with normal au ideas she's still working on the machine (but in a public, more ethical setting), and she's Mahiru's roommate :) Her character isn't super focused on love, but if I had to pick a cover song it'd be Stickybug II. It's very much my vibe, the lyrics fit well enough (better than most songs, at least lol) and it's one of my favorites of the unchosen songs!

So yeah, I hope she's not too boring without a cool crime to decipher, but I wanted to share since I was really proud of her! It took a bit of tinkering to find a way to fit her into a perfect secret-third-thing role that runs very smoothly with all of canon, so I was very excited!

one of the things i find kind of sad about watching new things and (as i will always tend to do) making little gay ships out of it, is how we always say “lol i ship these two i’m so delusional.” and not in the sense that i think this is a bad thing to say - it’s funny most of the time, typical hyperbole, lighthearted - but it’s also the experience i’ve had for my entire life with queer pairings. being called delusional by my close irl friends, my family, and seeing that sort of pre-emptive emotional shielding in fandom spaces too. it just… makes me sad that i always have to have this relationship with sapphic ships. i can never make myself believe that they’ll happen and i think… there’s an element of that reflected in how we’re expected (by wider society) to see our chances for happiness as remote, unrealistic. it’s a delusion, a daydream, something that will never happen. and obviously it does but i can’t express how damaging it was to grow up unable to imagine a future for myself. it’s maybe reductive to compare that to my relationship to queer ships but i do think it’s true, and i’m not saying “oh we shouldn’t talk this way!!” but it makes me sad that i feel like i have to put up that shield around myself in order to protect myself from being ridiculed for daring to believe that my silly gay ship could happen

begging other aroacespec Alastor fans to stop acting like the aroacespec community is a monolith

Before I go any further this is a vent so please keep that in mind. Additionally this isn't targeted at anyone specific, I've been meaning to make my stance on this clear since I first got into Hazbin but anxiety's been kicking my ass. So fuck anxiety, I'm getting tired of implicitly being treated like I'm not aroacespec just because I ship Radioapple.

I've mentioned To Preen An Angel's Wings here a few times, but I am very much respecting Alastor's aroace identity while still making it a Radioapple fic because I'm using it as a way to explore my own identity as demiaroace. Hell, I even make it clear that I acknowledge that Alastor is aroace (I literally have Lucifer saying “I know [Alastor]’s not into romance or sex" in the first chapter, within the first 800 words even). Demiaroace is still aroacespec. Asexuality and aromanticism aren't a one-size-fits-all experience.

I still crave a romantic relationship, but due to a combination of social anxiety, being demiaroace, and just anxiety in general, I don't have that yet. My anxiety prevents me from getting to know anyone so I can form the connection required for me to feel attraction. Additionally I have a habit of purposely ignoring red flags in my friendships, which also makes me nervous about being in a romantic relationship. Me craving a romantic relationship doesn't suddenly make me not aroacespec. I'm still aroacespec. Hell, I'm even sex repulsed and think sex is gross but have a high sex drive. How does that happen? Your guess is as good as mine.

I genuinely don't know what it is about the Hazbin Hotel fandom, but I've never been in a fandom that gets this bad about respecting characters' canon sexual/romantic orientations to the point of harassing people over it or feeling the need to comment on everything that can potentially be read as ship, and I've been in both the Sonic and the Undertale fandoms. It's so fucking bad that I've genuinely questioned if some Hazbin fans have ever participated in fandom spaces before.

I'm not saying other aroace people can't project onto Alastor and I'm not saying people have to ship him with anyone; I am however saying that going after people who project onto him differently or going after people who do ship him is not fucking okay.

Act like a fucking adult. If you see something you don't like, just block it like an adult. Stop reminding people every time you see someone say "ship" and "Alastor" in the same post that Alastor's aroace. It's fucking exhausting to me, as someone who is aroacespec, to see other aroacespec people constantly remind others that Alastor's aroace. Nobody's forcing you to do anything, Vivziepop liking Radioapple doesn't mean it'll become canon or that she retconned Alastor being aroace, and fanfiction and fanart aren't canon. Additionally, people shipping something doesn't mean they want it to be canon. I ship Radioapple purely in fanfiction and fanart, I don't want it to be canon.

Grow up, be mature, stop reminding people Alastor's aroace every time a post can vaguely be read as shipping Alastor, for fuck's sake. If it bothers you that bad just block the person who posted it like a mature fucking adult. I will not be budging on this and if you try to start an argument with me about this I won't hesitate to block you because I'm sick of this
