#anyway but then the whole thing with lilly and minerva is so good and louis screaming FUCK YOU at minerva?? amazing love it so good
if dorian didn't show up, do you think louis would have shot minnie?
I do. I know some people think either he wouldn't have or he would've missed so that's why the writers had him shoot Dorian instead, but mmmmmm no, I don't personally think so. I like to think that if he had taken the shot, his shaky hands would've caused him to shoot her fatally.
Mostly because I'm already so normal about the fact that of the Ericson crew, Marlon and Louis are the only ones with a body count. Well, that we know of, but shown to us in the game, at least. Plus, we know it's Louis' first kill.
Like yeah, Clementine and AJ become part of the crew and they have bigger body counts, and if we're counting indirect kills caused by actions, then Tenn has a count... and I guess everyone has blood on their hands for blowing up the boat... but I'm talking about killed directly with a weapon like....... I lied, I'm not normal about that at all, Louis and Marlon are the ones who have killed someone in Louis' route. I'm also not normal about the fact that Louis kills Dorian and then even as he's clearly in shock, he tries to go with Clementine to get AJ, and then later on when they talk about it, he says it feels like bile but not quite and he's glad he has it in him to do it.... listen, listen, listen... I'm obsessed with that.
Anyway, so if Louis shot Minerva, I think he would've accidentally killed her and can you imagine? He's already enough of a mess after killing the woman who pinned him down and tried to cut his finger off [or succeeded] but he knew Minerva, they were friends before the twins were taken. Even Violet couldn't kill her even though that would've been the smarter thing to do, and we know thanks to meta knowledge that killing her would've saved lives, but Violet couldn't, and I don't think Louis would intentionally either.
Speaking of Violet, if Louis killed Minerva, I hate to think about what that would've done to Vi. I think she might've actually left at that point, like what was planned before it got changed to her being burned. I don't think she would've attacked Louis over it, though, like yeah she attacked Clementine in the cell but Louis? I don't know, but I don't think so just because it's Louis and he'd be a mess about it anyway.
Though if he did kill her, it would be a neat parallel to draw... y'know, because Louis forgave AJ for killing Marlon even though he was pissed and heartbroken, and Violet was annoyed with him the entire time... but could she ever forgive Louis for killing Minerva? Y'know? We already have a similar parallel with AJ shooting Tenn, but still.
If Clementine killed Minerva in that moment, though, then I could see Violet attacking her since in her eyes, Clem proved her right.
So yeah, I get why they added the Dorian kill to his route. It adds another compelling element to Louis as a character, but we also need Minerva alive for episode 4; Louis can't kill her, he can't miss, and he's not going to stay with her because we need Violet to stay on the boat and him to be on shore for all routes.
#asks#twdg louis#twdg minerva#twdg clementine#twdg violet#twdg marlon#twdg tenn#honestly whenever i see someone say louis is the boring option i'm just like '.......that's your opinion but also how can you say that??'#then again i'm sure other people look at me saying violentine just isn't for me and they say the same thing so y'know... i can't talk haha#also time is such a weird thing because i look at the entire cell scene in louis' route and like... i'm not even mad about violet anymore#like yeah i still don't believe she was brainwashed like i'm sorry y'all only believe that because kent said something about it#not because there's all this evidence toward it in game like vi being pissed at clementine makes sense she doesn't need to be brainwashed#for it to work like her being vulnerable and easily manipulated into submission makes perfect sense especially with minerva there#it's like everyone was pissed that she attacked clementine and people needed a way to excuse it so it's not violet's fault when like...#that's literally what makes it interesting like calm down it's okay if violet is pissed and scared and behaves accordingly#also my controversial opinion of the day that i'll hide here in the tags so maybe people won't find it sksksk but#I personally find the concept of vinerva and the doomed tragedy of it more compelling than anything violentine did#like i'll defend violentine and i do believe it's an important and good ship it's just not my personal favorite#anyway but then the whole thing with lilly and minerva is so good and louis screaming FUCK YOU at minerva?? amazing love it so good#i love when the soft character who never chooses violence is so pissed off that all that anger they have boils to the surface and it's raw#like... he's SO mad he's SO furious he's SOOO UPSET like he wasn't even like this when marlon died or anything like he hit his limit#and then shooting dorian through the mouth while an accident is just well done i love it and i love his reaction of mortification#and apologizing and YET he still tries to go with clementine he's trembling and can barely string together a sentence but he wants to go#he wants to help her he wants to save aj THAT is the gut reaction he has after everything that just went down#'louis isn't loyal or good for clem because of the vote' babe tell me you don't understand any nuance of louis' character without telling m#it's fine IT'S FINE you don't have to agree and i just have to remind myself that it's fine not everyone likes louis we're okay#this drives me crazy in the best way like y'know what? i love the cells scene in louis' route all of it even the stuff i used to rant about#even the stuff that used to piss me off now i'm just like 'no wait past cj was dumb she wasn't looking at it this way aaaaaaaa' sksksks#that was my tag ted talk about the cell scene thank you

Adversary | IV
Word Count: 5044
Violet watches the way the scenery past her changes within each gust of the light wind. Those leftover from the storm of the past night carry into today as they brush some of the flooded waters at her boots once more. Leaving the browning leaves to stick to them like glue—even amidst to the annoyance of the blonde herself. As the trio silently make their way back to Clementine’s apartment.
At least in hopes that they’d do it before the sun would set.
“I didn’t think this would take us literally all day.” Sophie groans, biting into a piece of the old candy bar they’d found—primarily from the looted bodies Clementine had stolen from during their first encounter.
Though she’d never tell them it was from there exactly…
“Well, our little nap kinda took most of that out. Climbing and then running from a guy with a rifle will probably be enough to tire us out for hours. Plus the rain doesn’t help.”
“Alright- you have a point.” Sophie shakes her head. “What’s gonna happen to that old guy back up there anyway? Isn’t there a way he could try and kill Aasim and Louis?”
“They’ll be fine.” Clementine assures, her gaze is kept forward and vacant as she watches the way one of the old willow trees barely dips some of its leaves into the flooded waters below. Creating a few ripples every few seconds as it almost gives her a sense of calmness, something the rest of the city—even when it seemed devoid of walkers, never usually did. “He was limping the whole way. I doubt he’ll be able to hop down those roofs like we did. And even if he does, he’ll be worse off than a drowned out walker. “
“That’s...good I think. We’ll just have to warn them about that old skyscraper, right Vi?”
“Yeah.” The blonde nods, stuffing her hands into her old vest pockets. “I just wish they could come along with us, but I don’t want those two idiots to get into more trouble because of us.”
“Listen.” Clementine turns, her tone slightly harsher. “You’re doing the right thing. Questions it isn’t going to do anything but make it worse on yourself.”
Violet purses her lips, almost like she wants to deny that to Clementine or wants to go against her words. But it’d be useless. This random—and slightly murderous, girl could simply just forbid her from coming along. She didn’t need them. And if this was their last chance of getting Minerva back? They were going to take it.
Hopefully it was going to end well.
Sophie glances around, keeping her gaze clear and steady as she remembers Delta. What she’d seen and been through, and what Lilly was like back there. Chances are she was even worse now. With two of her previous right hand men leaving and escaping them, she could only imagine what Minerva was going through back there as well.
Or what was in store for them once they’d arrive. She just knew that she had to trust Clementine’s plan.
Whatever that was…
“So...Clementine…” Sophie begins, digging her nails into her own palm as she begins to immediately regret even thinking of such a question. But the sheer difference between the two girls was enough to come through with it.
The brunette, however, was not as patient.
“Well?”
“Why do you want to kill Lilly?” She pauses. “I mean- don’t get me wrong. I despise her, but I don’t know if that’s reason enough to go on a near suicide mission for it. You’re free. You can live now. Why would you want to go back there?”
“I can’t let Lilly do- do what she did to us, to happen to anymore people.”
“You just…you don’t seem like the righteous type, Clementine.”
Sophie points out, keeping her stance tall against the turning glare of the amber eyed girl. Wondering what Violet was most likely thinking of this situation herself. “This seems to be more for revenge than anything, but...not for her keeping you there before you escaped.”
The redhead watches as Clementine clenches her fists momentarily. Her arms shaking as the brunette visibly grits her teeth. Turning to face the openness of the rest of the street, which had finally begun to show its dry parts as scattered garbage leaned between the water and the asphalt there. Laying against concrete walls of the reddened rust of the old vehicles many had tried—and failed, to use to escape when the dead first started walking.
Their terror merely turned to anger as far as Sophie saw it, and Clementine was a prime example of that. Her voice low and gravelly momentarily as it chills both girls to their core with each word.
“That’s because it is.”
“What happened?” Violet asks, immediately covering her mouth as she wants to simply slap herself for speaking out without thinking. Squeezing her eyes shut as she expects to be yelled at or maybe even punched.
Hell she deserves it even.
But none of that happens as Clementine looks to them again. And the green eyed girl can notice the look of betrayal and sadness playing across her face. Almost as if it was telling a story itself. Once that soon escaped her lips.
And one that Violet wishes she could unhear.
She killed the only person who mattered to me!” Clementine says, attempting to prevent her voice from breaking as she runs her hands through her hair across the vivid memory. Almost as if she could feel the flames burning at her fingertips and eating away at the edges of the old clothing she once had. The smell of the smoke as it forced its way down her throat, choking her from the inside out and blurring her vision.
But it wasn’t enough
“I was looking for a little boy” Clementine says, shaking her head as she wipes away the physical memories of it. All except the sight she’d remembered. The one that wouldn’t ever escape her mind.
“There was this group attacking the place he was being kept. I-I ran through and did what I had to. But I just...I took too long.” She mumbled, taking a shaky sigh as her eyes move to the old roads as she watches some pebbles fall between the cracks within them. Trying to keep her memory from detaching from reality. “When I found him he-“ she pauses, her eyes glossing over again as she forces her tears to stop in their tracks. Her face turning into the angered force of nature Violet was already quite fearful of. “He was gone.”
The two girls are silent as Clementine waits for their reactions. Watching their looks of pity and sorrow just as she expected. The way her heart burns similarly to how McCarroll did and the way her anger only builds gets her feet moving on the way back to her apartment. Throwing a brick far and fast at a nearby wrecked van, watching as the object breaks into pieces after the long sound of metal denting rings in her ears. Leaving the girls slightly behind as she isn’t able to hear their ongoing conversation.
She doesn’t want to.
“Okay so you know how I hated Lilly before?” Violet asks, her gaze set and glued on the brunette ahead. “Yeah fuck her. Hated her before and I didn’t think it’d get worse but now she killed a three year old.”
“I’m horrified, but not surprised.”
“She do anything like that to you over at Delta before you left?” Violet asks again, wary of such a topic after Clementine’s outburst as she feels a pang in her chest. Neither of them had exactly gone through and talked about it. Only keeping their eyes ahead and what was coming up next for them after everything that's happened.
Sophie pauses, looking down at her friend as she visibly bites her lip. Obvious to the fact that she’s holding something back, the blonde just couldn’t tell what it was. “Let’s just keep going.”
“Sure. Whatever you say.”
The trio slowly make their way back among the silence around them. Knowing it was something almost too familiar to everyone who was left alive her. Simply left to look and listen to the world around them for dangers or something else that might have caught their eye.
For the two girls behind her, Clementine noted that silence alone was enough to arouse some sort of questioning. Especially from the green eyed girl once more.
“So...how come there haven’t been many walkers here?”
“What do you mean?”
“Like...I always heard cities were full of them, and now there’s like none.”
“Well.” Clementine says, pointing to a nearby deep body of water that’d hovered over a pothole. “Some fell down there, some are stuck up in the buildings around us. Others are drowned out by the flooding or the collapsing buildings...or, they just died out and now are out and after the people who escaped the city to begin with. There’s still a lot of course, but you just haven’t seen them yet I suppose.”
“Should I have been seeing them?”
“There were a few dead ones up the climb to that skyscraper. Some were beneath the deeper water. All slightly hidden...unless you really know what you’re looking for.”
Violet bites her lip hard. She’s been living in this word for eight years, she knew she should be better at this! There could be some random walker waiting to pull her into the murky and mossy waters and she wouldn’t even see it to get some sort of warning beforehand.
“Don’t worry about it, Vi.” Sophie smiles, patting her friend’s back. “You’ve never really been in a city. You’re only used to finding them out in the forests and not the buildings.”
“It should be easier.”
“But it isn’t, because you’re not used to it. But you’ll get to it at some point. Clementine must’ve, considering she’s probably been all over the place with Delta.”
That sparks a look from the brunette as she stares at the two blankly. Not exactly answering their question, but they’d already known the answer to it anyway.
The two slowly back off, knowing it’s probably best if she doesn’t listen in just in fads they fade back into their previous conversation.
Which is exactly what they were doing.
“She said that kid died before Delta took her.” Violet points out. A frown reappearing across her face as she glances back down to her boots. “What do you think happened?”
“I dunno. And I don’t think I do want to know. Not yet at least. Whatever it was that kept her at Delta? It couldn’t have been good.”
“No...not at all.” Violet shakes her head, watching as Clementine slowly keeps her gaze on the world around her. Doing anything in her power to avoid making eye contact with the others. Instead finally speaking up as the old apartment finally came into view.
“We’re here. I take it you two are gonna want to let your friends know about...everything. But right after? We’ve gotta set off. So say your goodbyes now and get what you need before we head off.”
The two girls look on somberly as they make their way up. Their stomachs reacting even having to say such a conversation as Clementine merely waits outside. Listening to the breeze flow by the buildings and echo outwards before hearing a mumble of voices above. Knowing how that conversation was most likely going. And how the pit in her stomach is telling her how sad and pitiful it was for them to have to say goodbye to their friends for now...forever possibly. Something she didn’t want to tell them. And something she wouldn’t say if they truly wanted to get their friend back.
She just had to make sure Minerva wouldn’t see her as well. That would surely blow things to shit.
And how she’d probably have to give them some time.
The brunette makes her way over towards one of the overturned cars. Noting the way the rustic metal beneath it was now visible as it barely is able to reflect some of the little light that was flooding within the city in its blanket of warmth. The way the small specks of the clean metal still untouched by the apocalypse shined right back at her in her own reflection.
She watches the dirtied parts of her face. The dirt and muck and the blood that’d all faded into her previously vibrant skin. Now slightly sunken and thinned out. Her eyes still remain in the previous brightness she once had years back. But she knew that it would fade too. Wondering when the clock would stop ticking around them and they’d turn into the soulless and lifeless auras the walkers held within.
Her attention is drawn away from the slightly lively reflection within the pipe as she hears a cry up above. Almost enough to draw her heart into a race before she realizes what it’s from. And why it’s occurring.
“Shit.” She mumbles, shaking her head quickly as she squeezes her eyes tightly. Walking further away from the old apartment to give them some peace and privacy. Finally finding a place on an old and separated car seat before she reaches into her ripped pockets. Pulling out the old pack of cigarettes she’d taken from the hunter yesterday. Watching the small logo that shined in what little light was left of the day. Enough to bring her to slightly shake her head as she pulls one of the cigarettes out. Glancing between it momentarily as she mutters something until her breath.
“Fuck you Bonnie.” The brunette whispers. As humorous as she’d found it originally, the woman did introduce her to cigarettes to begin with. And while they “helped”,  she certainly found herself dependent on them every once in a while. Luckily not enough to need them every waking second like some others would, but certainly so she’d keep a pack whenever she found them.
There’s a small and flickering array of orange, yellow, and a slight blue as Clementine uses her lighter. Pulling the cigarette to it as it casts a tiny glow at her dirtied fingertips. Moving across her face as she brings it to her lips with a sigh while the night seems to fall upon the rest of the city. What once would be a cascade of lights and life within the city was now a signal of death, destruction, and the ultimate demise over the failure of those who tried to keep it all upstanding. Leaving others to militarize themselves either in groups or on their lonesome in the fight against both the dead, and the other humans remaining.
With each puff of light smoke Clementine reminisces about the old times. Those she had with people who cared about her. And people she cared about too. Those who always swore to protect her.
And those who failed. Those who left like the rest of them.
This would be nothing new to her. All she had to do was kill Lilly. These girls will go off with Minerva and be back together like their own family. Without a care from the brunette if they’d last or not.
And she’d...keep moving forward. Like always.
If she makes it out of there alive.
With a last puff towards that though, Clementine flicks the cigarette down and into a nearby puddle. Watching the ways the last flicker of the lit cigarette fixed into the ground before it’s crushed beneath her boot with a quick movement. Her boot moving side to side momentarily before she looks up and towards the old apartment. Watching and listening for anything else to come out from them.
And it was silent.
Her hands move to her pockets as she walks up towards the beginning of the small climb to her home. Pools of amber catch the two girls hauling their bags over their shoulders as they join in for one last hug with the other two, enough to see Clementine herself as they all come up to her.
Well, shit.
She almost wishes she still had that cigarette now as she watches the two boys—Louis and Aasim, walk up to her. Their faces forlorn and nervous, even if they were slightly grateful they wouldn’t exactly have to come along after all.
“We just...we wanted to thank you for saving us and helping us get Minerva back-“ the freckled one says, and Clementine immediately puts a hand up to stop him. Shaking her head quickly.
“I’m not helping. I’m delivering them if anything. Whatever happens there? It’s not up to me and I’m not going to be doing anything to help. I just need my revenge.”
She watches as the boy’s eyes almost look to her in fear. Giving a sheepish smile as he quickly shoved the other—equally nervous, friend up. And Clementine can make quite the assumption of who it was, practically the one who’d given her the bandage on her head.
Guess it was more like a bandana now.
“I-I Uh...just wanted to apologize about the um-“
“The bat? The one you hit my head with for no reason? The only you could’ve killed me with?”
He merely scratches his neck, looking fearfully towards the floor momentarily as Clementine waits nonchalantly for some sort of answer.
“Yeah...that.”
“Well.” She hums, tapping the bat in her palm before offering it forward. “Might as well keep it, seeing as you’re good with it.”
“Wh- are you sure? I-“
“Positive. Take it, because the rest of us have got to go.”
“Oh...right.” He nods, holding the item in his hands as Clementine watches them give each other one last hug. Whispering something about luck and coming back home to them.
And promises. Which was almost funny to her. How easily they probably would wind up broken.
“You guys ready?” Clementine Asia, taking a last look over to her apartment as the group is still wiping at lone tears or sniffling. Enough to almost warrant her to feel annoyed by it, but she didn’t feel anything at all. It didn’t seem to matter much to her right now.
“Yeah...yeah we better go before we change our minds.” Sophie nods, giving a short wave over to her friends as they stay within the small apartment. Obviously seeming skeptical and worried, but it was their only hope for another friend to return. They knew how important it truly was.
“Bring her back.” The freckled teen says again. A confident nod being given towards the girls as Clementine’s two companions nod in agreement. Looking determined as they finally head off, in the opposite direction they came. With the night fallen in the darkness upon them as the events from the past night come over them. Almost too much as they realize how little time had truly passed. But they didn’t have long to begin with. And if Clementine was correct, this was their only hope.
They just didn’t know if the risk was worth taking, but it would be too late to reconsider now.
Clementine keeps a careful eye out on their surroundings. Her vision wading through the thick darkness of night as it only left for small grazes of grey to be left on the sides of buildings, reflecting down towards the flooded waters nearby as it became their main source of light. At least, that’s all Clementine planned on using until there’s a sharp glow of white from behind her, as the blonde carries a flashlight in her hand.
“Hey! Watch the eyes.” Clementine warns as soon as she shines it at her face, blinking a few times to get the burnt image out of her eyes as she looks back ahead. Not even bothering to turn around this time.
“Sorry, sorry. Wanted to make sure it works.”
“Oh it does.” Clementine whispers. “Just check it on your arm or at your feet next time, not the back or front of my head!”
Violet pouts, even more so as Sophie gives her a sight elbow to the side over something that probably should’ve been obvious. Well can something she definitely should’ve known better about.
Too late now.
Clementine watches the area around the light given by Violet’s flashlight. Knowing she’d have to be on lookout for those that they wouldn’t catch. While she could possibly rely on them, it wasn’t at all a given, or something as guaranteed as what she’d see with her own eyes. Wading from the darkened and murky waters where walkers would lie beneath, to the way the light would reflect off the metallic remains of the buildings. Those that weren’t covered in nature, at least.
She listens to the crunching of the soaking wet leaves beneath her boots. Listening to the way the silence around her seems to grow. Not a bug or anything else in earshot. All but the boots of the trio and the rustling of their old and worn clothes together highlighting the seeming loneliness the city had held within it now. Gone we’re the bright lights available to see even from the tops of space, and back down was the despair that could come crashing down onto any of them once more.
Clementine was all too familiar with it, in retrospect.
The silence is broken only by the whispering of the two girls behind her. Enough for Clementine to hear and listen in to, but she blocks it out. Focusing all her senses on the area ahead, as she doesn’t know exactly what to expect.
“You doing okay, Vi?”
“Yeah...I know we both miss them. We’ll see them soon. With Minerva too.”
“Yeah. We sure will. I just ...I promise to keep you safe. Even when I couldn’t bring Minnie back, I knew she’d want me to protect you. So I’m keeping that promise to her….to the old Minnie, at least.”
“Hey.” Violet’s voice softly resounds above the rustling of leaves beneath their feet. “You have been. As best you can. Only when you needed too as well. And we’ll get the old Minnie back.”
And if we can’t?”
“Then we’ll force this new Minnie to come home with us. Or else.”
“Violet she’s taller than me and like a foot taller than you.”
“I have my ways. Just wait.”
“I just hope you won’t have to use them.”
“Yeah...me neither…”
The conversation slowly drifts away as both girls bring their eyes to the world around them. Shivering amidst a cold gust of wind that almost wills them to simply go back. The cold trickling up their arms across the bumps forming on their skin, becoming teeth-chatteringly chilled within each passing second before they step into another pool of ankle-height water.
Which was even colder.
“Jesus Christ!” Violet yelps, hopping slightly as she immediately feels the freezing drops of water hit at the rest of her from the harsh movement. The sound getting the attention of the other two as they stare, waiting for her to be done with her shenanigans. “I didn’t think it’d be this cold.”
“That’s kinda what happens when water sits in the dark, especially after the storm we had yesterday.”
“I know that. But still. It shouldn’t be this could.”
“It’ll get warmer as we head up through the pipe through the emptied sewers. It might sound disgusting, but all the water got flooded with the other kind, so don’t make a fuss about it.” Clementine tells them, pointing to the grated entrance through a large pipe. Where the inside--even with a flashlight, is practically pitch black.
“Head up through there?! Really?!” Violet asks, watching the skeptical look from Sophie over it as well.
“Unless you’d rather stay out here, be my guest. We’re already far off from where the apartment is. So there isn’t any turning back.”
Violet pouts again, looking warily into the old pipe as she lets out a sigh. Knowing she was either going to regret this, or wouldn’t make it out to even do so.
“Fuck it.”
Violet feels herself go stiff as they begin their walk into the dark unknown. Listening to the echoey drops of water that’d make their way down to the small amount of water within the ground. Her vision slowly becoming apt enough to see the cracked and smashed walls, those that led to openings filled with dust and small crumblings of concrete and whatever other material it’d been made of.
There’s a silence as they listen to the echoes through the deep pipe. Watching the small stairways nearby that led to further openings and paths. All of which Clementine avoided, not even moving to search.
“You sure you know where we’re going? This place gives me the creeps.” Sophie asks, knowing it was probably exactly what violet had been thinking of to begin with.
“Yep.”
Sophie blinks momentarily at her simple and short answer. “Oh...ok…”
“So uh- what’s the plan?” Violet asks, hoping to change from the awkward situation.
“The plan?”
“You know...like. What we’re doing in here or whatever you’re wanting us to do once we reach that drop off point.”
“You mean pickup?”
“Yeah- for the recruits or whateverthefuck.”
“You’ll see. If I tell you now it might screw everything up.”
“How?” Violet asks, slightly louder than before as her voice shoots through the rest of the pipe and sewer. Getting lower and lower in tone as the other two glare back at her.
“Like that.” Clementine says, almost in a monotone voice as she doesn’t continue moving. Her hand moving towards the holster as Violet’s eyes widen. Seeing the old and slightly chipped and stained machete the brunette pulls out.
Well she’d certainly not expected that.
“Whoa wait it was an accident, no need to uh ...do that…” Violet chuckles, watching the eye roll of the brunette as she turns again.
“Not you, dumbass.” Sophie warns, her hand etching towards her own weapon—her revolver, as Clementine whispers something.
“Hear that?”
Violet listens only, hearing an almost pained groan from deep within the tunnel. Knowing exactly what it must’ve been.
“Walker?”
“Not just one.” Clementine says, listening to the higher pitched scream from down ahead. Sounding more like a human than anything, but they knew better. “Not a lot of space in here, either.”
“Shit...this could be bad…” Sophie mumbles, her hand tightening over her own gear as she watches Violet get prepared as well.
“We have to keep moving, come on.” Clementine warms, walking slower and more intricately as the girls keep up a similar pace. Their flashlight gazing ahead to show them the sight of whatever they might be missing. Enough for their hearts to pound and for them to will their senses to work in overdrive. Teeth gritting and gaze shifting in the quiet as they’re wary of the noises becoming louder, closer.
“Looks like there used to be a camp here.” Violet notes, getting the girls’ attention as they eye the emptied supplies and mattresses nearby. Shelved in torn backpacks near both new and dried pools of blood.
Violet’s heart pounds as she sees it. The flashlight glinting off the fresh crimson. It hammers in her chest as she sees another mark. As if someone had been dragged as hand and body marks are stained in the same red.
But there was no body...not yet at least.
Her eyes almost stay glued to the blood before her flashlight flickers, sending her heart into another palpitation as she quickly hits it against her palm. Shaking the torch to get the batteries to stop malfunctioning.
Thankfully, it works.
The blonde brings the flashlight back forward to ahead of them, unskewed by her companions as she realizes what’s only a few feet in front of her. Her green eyes widening as she subdues any sound from coming from her throat.
There’s a walker up ahead. Faced away from her and towards the bloodied ground it’s still dripping upon slowly. Its ribs torn and open as they’re spread out of its body, as if it were some sort of bug eating plant that was just waiting to crush its prey between them. As if it was a hug of death from something already dead.
Its jaw was unhinged. Gawking open towards them with so many wounds in the newly turned walker Violet could hardly count. It’s fingers broken and bending backwards as they exposed the bone through them. Sticking out like jagged rocks as the walker finally turned fully towards her. It’s pale eyes gazing right at her in realization, especially as it simply stood there.
It wasn’t until now did Violet see the rest of its chest has been gashed open. Somehow keeping whatever was inside stuck there as she could see everything. But none of it was moving nor functioning. Only rotting and decaying as they girls were completely quiet for the few lingering seconds they’d each seen it.
That is, until Clementine stabs her machete through the upside of its neck, splitting it easily as violet sees that perhaps it wasn’t that dull after all. Watching and listening as the frail bones bunch and shatter as the machete still moved up with the brunette’s swift movement from its chin. Finally ending right in the middle of its nose before she retracts it. Letting it fall face down as the split skin slides off to the sides. Decaying even further than it had originally.
They watch as Clementine’s face comes into view of the flashlight. Hues of white scattering across her skin as the walker blood is freshly splattered across it. Soon to join the old human stains of it. But her gaze doesn’t change from the almost furious expression she has as she turns around. Gazing forward as more noises escape down the tunnel.
“Sophie, how many bullets do you have in your revolver?” She asks, face still staring forward and away from them as her gaze darkens like the rest of what lied ahead.
“Four.”
“Good. Just continue keeping count. That number might lower in just a second.”

Top 5 Best Executed Deaths
A few weeks ago, I did a list talking about the Top 5 Character Deaths That Made Me Side-Eye the Writers and I thought it was only fair that I talk about some of the character deaths that I thought were actually done well. So consider this like a companion to that list.
Like I said in that T5F, this is TWDG, a game series all about people surviving in a world overrun by zombies. Naturally, characters are going to die. Some of these characters get pretty shitty deaths that only happened to fill a quota, some had effort and thought put into them and how they were going to effect the story and remaining characters. These are deaths that served their purpose, progressed the story, or are an understandable conclusion to a character’s arc.
Do keep in mind that when I say that I enjoy the way these were done/handled/portrayed/whatever, this isn’t me taking joy outta watching these deaths play out. Hell, I kinda hate most of the deaths on this list, but just because I don’t want this character to die or I wish they stuck around longer doesn’t mean I can’t recognize when it’s executed well, y’know?
5. Larry and the meat locker incident
Tumblr media
So.... Larry’s an asshole, y’know? He made it on another T5F because he sucks. No one likes Larry.
He treats Lee like garbage, treats his own daughter terribly, and is overall just a piece of shit. That being said, he played his role well. He did what he needed to do which was be a antagonistic character within the group who posed a threat to Lee by threatening to expose his past. He creates a lot of tension within the group, he puts all this pressure on Lilly, you can’t even attempt to show any kindness to him because he doesn’t care about anyone but himself and Lilly.
That being said.... his death scene is pretty good. Y’know, you play through ep2 for the first time and you’ve just discovered that these people are cannibals and they have you locked in a fucking meat locker so they can butcher you later, and Larry is freakin’ the fuck out because he’s pissed. Lilly is sick in the corner, Kenny is desperately trying to find a way out because they have his family, and Clementine is terrified, and Lee is just waking up.
You go over and try to calm Larry down because he’s pounding at the door and this dude.... this bastard has the gall to be like “Fuck you, you must really hate me! I’m plannin’ on bein’ around waaaaaay after you’re dead! I’ll be the one to put you down!”
Then he has a heart attack.
And you’re stuck in this meat locker with him. You don’t know if he’s alive or not-- Kenny immediately deems him dead, Lilly is desperately trying to resuscitate him, and they’re both yelling at you. You gotta decide if you’re gonna help Lilly try to bring him back, or if you’re gonna help Kenny make sure he doesn’t turn.
Not matter what you do, Kenny smashes Larry’s head in with a damn saltlick because I guess he missed the opening of the episode where they remind you that your actions have consequences.
Larry’s death has lasting effects on your relationships with both Lilly and Kenny, though more so Kenny since no matter what, Lilly loses it a little and ends up murdering Carley/Doug and leaving the group. But boy, Kenny will never forget the time you didn’t wanna play hero with him and smash a guys head in right in front of his daughter.
It’s a damn good scene, I gotta hand it to ‘em. I hate Larry and I can’t say I miss him, but I can definitely see both sides of the argument on what to do there. Plus it’s... I dunno, a creative death? and I kinda like that? No one else is out here getting their heads done in with a saltlick, y’know?
Anyway, Larry sucks but his death? Well done.
4.  Minerva and the tragic showdown on the bridge
Tumblr media
Oh man, I really am digging my own grave with the Minnie crowd lately, huh? Ah well, I’m sure it’s fine.
Listen...okay, look. I have a lot of feelings about the bridge scene. On one hand, I hate it. On the other hand, I kind of love it?
Like, does it piss me off that Tenn dies here because I trust AJ? Yep. Do I still wish they had maybe put Lilly here so that she could actually do her job as a villain? Sure. Does it upset me that AJ ends up shooting his best friend in order to save Louis? Totally. Does it annoy me that Minerva just won’t fucking die even though I shot her and the walkers keep nom noming her? Absolutely.
That being said, I can’t pretend that Minerva’s death isn’t pretty great.... which I know will upset the Minnie crowd who always talk about how it’s bullshit she died here and she deserved a redemption arc... but lemme explain.
Looking at the game itself, the text and story progression, Minerva was never going to get that. She was never set up as someone we were gonna “fix” or as someone who would have a change of heart and switch to our side. From the moment we meet her, she’s too far gone. The delta have their claws sunk deep within her, they brainwashed her, forced her to murder her own sister, and she has completely given up. She never expresses any desire to go back to the school. Nope, the delta is her home now. Her family. And it’s tragic. She and Sophie proof of what would happen to the Ericson crew if the delta go ahold of them-- “which twin will you be?” y’know?
She fucks us over instead of actually helping us, we escape, the boat explodes, but Minerva doesn’t go down with the boat. Nope, she makes it to land and well... she fucking loses it. She sees her delta family get taken out by walkers and she goes nuts with her gun and gets half of her face chewed off by a walker.
So yeah..... she’s dead. Almost. They try to act like we’re supposed to believe that she’s really dead after she gets surrounded by walkers and throws the grenade at Clementine and all that but c’mon.... unless I see a body or a walker version, I don’t believe shit.
Which brings me to the bridge.... there’s a lot of dread building up to Minerva’s final appearance, and you just hear her singing the damn song and bringing a bunch of walkers with her. Not to mention that she already looks dead. She looks like a walker who can talk, and not gonna lie, I like it. It’s freaky and sad and fucked up and adds so much to her character at this point. I mean, she’s here to kill Tenn so that they can all be a family again. She’s smiling and relieved that she’s dying and boy she just can’t wait to take Tenn with her and it’s not great.
She’s here to die and to take someone down with her, and she’s not leaving until she does. Hell, if she can take Clementine out, that’s just a bonus at this point.
ALSO can’t forget that if AJ does shoot and kill Tenn, Minerva is still alive as she’s being eaten by walkers and she looks so damn happy as she reaches out and says, “Yes, come with me...”
Like..... it’s so fucked, and I hate that I love it. From a storytelling standpoint, it’s a fitting death to conclude Minerva’s character and it impacts everyone there in more ways than one.
3. Duck and incredible emotional impact
Tumblr media
Oh, Duck... poor, poor Duck.
This one has stuck with me and I hate it. I was never one of those players who hated Duck from the beginning. It’s interesting to go back and see how people reacted to him in the first couple episodes because a lot of them didn’t like him. They found Duck to be annoying, loud, stupid, and would even wonder “yeesh, when can I kill this kid?”
Which is yikes but not gonna get into that right now.
But from my understanding, Telltale got wind of this and knowing they were gonna kill him off, were like “Okay, y’all dumb, so here--” and they added in that little segment with Detective Duck where he helps Lee figure out what’s been going on with the stole meds. It’s a cute scene where we get to hang out with Duck and he proves that he’s not stupid, he’s just... y’know, a child.
Then the motor inn gets attacked, shit goes down after they escape, and it’s revealed that Duck was bitten.
Oh man, let me tell you about emotional impact both on the characters and the player because wow.
Duck’s death is slow, drawn out...and since it’s early in the series, there’s a lot of denial, mostly from Kenny. They find the train and Kenny fixates on it because to him, if he gets it working and they can just get away, Duck can recover. Duck isn’t like the others, he’s just a little sick and everyone is making a big fuss about it.
Then you have Katjaa, who starts out in that denial stage but she moves into acceptance a lot quicker than Kenny does and well.... that might be because she made up her mind about what she was going to do, which that is a whole other layer of fucking despair to this situation.
They also do something that I like with Kenny by adding that depth of him believing he had something like this coming after what happened at Hershel’s farm. Y’know, when he grabbed Duck and took off, leaving Shawn to die? Yeah that.
He’s been so adamant about protecting his family to the point where he doesn’t have anything for the rest of the group, aside from Lee if he helps kill Larry. He did what he could to keep his wife and child safe and in the end, it didn’t matter. Duck still got bit, and now everything is shit.
Then when you thought it couldn’t hurt even more, you find Katjaa dead in the woods and you still have to take care of Duck, whether you have Lee shoot him or have Kenny do it, or even just leave him to turn. Either way.... Duck’s death is just one big ol’ despairing oof.
It’s really good, guys. The music, dialogue, scenery, the pain....They really nailed Duck’s death in such an emotional way and it doesn’t just end there. This sticks with Kenny all the way through S2 and changes him as a character. It impacted Clementine and Lee greatly because this kickstarted Chuck telling them that Clem would end up just like Duck if things didn’t change.
S1 just... knew how to kill off its characters... well, for the most part.
2. Marlon and the death that had to happen whether we like it or not
Tumblr media
Sigh.... okay.
So... Marlon. Lemme tell you some things about Marlon’s death.
First, I hate it. Nothing new there. If you know anything about me, you know that I am vocal in my desire for the Marlon redemption arc, for the “Marlon lives” AU’s and the “Marlon lives longer but dies differently” AU’s. I like Marlon as a character, I find him to be a fascinating character study. Ray Chase’s performance as Marlon brings so much personality and I love it.  So naturally, I wanted more of him in TFS.
Here’s the thing. I may want all of those things, I may take a lot of joy from discussing these ideas with you guys and coming up with different scenarios,  theories, AU’s about him, and I’ll always be the first one to be like “I hate that Marlon dies in ep1, I wish AJ hadn’t shot him! Woulda liked for him to stick around longer!”
But with the story TFS is trying to tell, Marlon has to die. AJ has to shoot him. I don’t like it, you don’t like it, no one likes it.... but that’s just how it is.
Marlon is presented to us as this chill and genuine guy trying to keep his group safe and together. He feels the pressure of being responsible for all the lives in this school and that’s a lot to put on a teen growing up in the apocalypse.
Then we learn that hey, the twins didn’t die. No, last year they ran into Abel and Marlon made a deal with him where he traded the twins in order to save himself, Brody, and the rest of the school. He wanted to plan a rescue mission, but he was too scared, so he and Brody kept it to themselves. They made up a story about the twins dying and moved on, but that continued to weigh down on them.
Then Abel comes back, Brody freaks out, tells Clementine the truth, and Marlon hits her so hard that it kills her.
And it gets worse.
You go through the whole confrontation with Marlon trying to cover his ass and blame Clementine for Brody’s murder, he’s waving AJ’s gun around and threatening to shoot Clem while everyone is gathered around watching. It’s raining, it’s super dramatic and tense and I love it.
In the end, Marlon gives up and he just wants to leave. Let him become a bad memory, he’ll never come back, just let him go.
Then AJ shoots him in the head unprompted. He just.... he just does it and then wonders why everyone is looking at him like he’s a murder baby.
Marlon’s death is crucial, not just to kickstart the plot but also for AJ’s character arc. His death affects everyone in that school. It makes Clementine question herself and if she’s raising AJ right, it breaks Louis’ heart, it pisses off Mitch, it sets Violet off on her bullshit. Everyone is hurting and confused because they don’t know what to do. Marlon is dead and AJ, this tiny toddler, was the one who pulled the trigger.
From the beginning, we’re told that AJ is always listening, watching, and what we do will affect him for better or worse.... and maybe you don’t think much when you tell him to always aim for them head, but when he says exactly what you taught him after murdering Marlon...? Yeah, you’re sitting there like “Well, fuck.”
But if this didn’t happen, if AJ didn’t kill Marlon, then.... there’s not a lot left. Sure the raiders are still coming, but AJ no longer has to go through what he has to or realize how much he hurt everyone. He’s no longer on that path that made him such an interesting and layered character.
Sure, you coulda made him shoot someone else, but the fact that it was Marlon is what made it impactful.
Ugh, it’s good and I hate it. I hate it so much.
1. Lee and the death that broke all our hearts
Tumblr media
.......Just-
Tumblr media
-y’know?
What else is there to say?
Well, alright, I’ll explain.
We play as Lee in S1, we go on this whole journey with him and develop him as a character, establish relationships, and care for Clementine. He’s a great character. I did a list on why he’s great, too, if you wanna check that out but all you really need to know is that we all loved Lee.
Lee’s got a lot of baggage, given that he was on his way to prison for murdering the dude who was sleeping with his wife. But then the apocalypse happened and he got a second chance to do some good... or I guess bad? if you do a scumbag Lee run?
Anyway-- no matter what, he cares for Clementine and it’s nice to see them bond over the course of the season... so when shit hits the fan and Clementine gets kidnapped by the Stranger, we’re just as upset as Lee is.
Then Lee gets bit.... and we realize that even though he’s our playable protagonist, he was never safe either. He gets bit and I can still remember the feeling of like... a bowling ball dropping in my stomach and my heart hurting because no... no, no, not Lee. I basically became Kenny like “No, he’s different! Lee isn’t gonna die! Being bit doesn’t mean death!” and while that is technically true.... had to face it: Lee’s going to die by the end of the season.
Ep5 of S1 is a whole journey... We’re dealing with trying to save Clementine while seeing Lee get worse and worse-- he’s passing out, he’s growing paler and slower and it’s hard to watch. You maybe get a little bit of hope if you decide to cut his arm off, but that’s just... it’s too late for that.
Not only is he fighting this, but then you got Ben who gets impaled and Kenny “dies” putting him outta his misery and Lee’s powerless to do anything. So great, that sucks.
But at least he’s got Christa and Omid.... until they get separated at the Marsh House and Lee’s gotta get through a herd of them by himself.
This slow burn is so good. His condition gets progressively worse but he’s so determined to get to Clem that it doesn’t matter. He doesn’t have time to think about what is inevitably going to happen to him, even if the player does.
And just.... the final scene... y’know, the actual death scene?
It’s so good. It’s a beautiful, emotional punch in the face. Like, way to end your game like this... Lee is trapped her with Clementine and he can’t walk, he can’t get up no matter how much Clementine begs him to try, he just- he can’t. He knows it’s all over for him and so he has her handcuff him to this heater so that no matter what, he can’t hurt her and just.... their final moments together where Lee is minutes away from death but is struggling to tell her as much as he can and I’m crying.
Then of course, the final choice-- Do you shoot Lee, or do you leave him to turn?
Both ending hurt my soul, but they’re both great in different ways. Shooting him is so heartbreaking... seeing little Clem sobbing as she points the gun at him and closes her eyes, then it cuts to black as the shot rings out and you hear Lee’s final breath....
BUT THEN YOU HAVE THE LEAVE HIM ENDING WHICH-
Tumblr media
Lee manages to tell her more when you choose not to shoot him, but just watching Clementine get to the door and her little “don’t go” before Lee closes his eyes and falls over limp... falls over dead, I just--
Ouch... I am applauding this through my ugly sobs.
It’s the best death in the series. It has everything and then some- emotional impact, works to progress the story and characters, amazing dialogue and performances.... It still gets me to this day.
---
Honorable Mentions
-Mark’s death technically happens off screen, but I mean, c’mon... Mark wasn’t the most compelling character, but everyone remembers what happened to him. Everyone remembers walker Mark. What happened to him showed us just how fucked the St Johns were and it’s excellent.  -Brody’s death is pretty good, too.  -Abel’s death is an interesting one. He’s a garbage can, but they managed to humanize him just a bit by the way he hands his soon-to-be demise.  -Badger when Conrad kills him. It’s super good.  -I’m looking over this list now and it’s kinda funny that not a single S2 death made it here... it’s almost like all the character death that happened there was because a quota needed to be filled and who cares about complex character development when you got Kenny and nothing really matters I guess... ugh. The best deaths would probably be Carver, and Kenny when you shoot him but they’re not good enough to be in a top 5 so.... good job.
---
So... that was fun. What do you guys think? Do you agree with my choices or nah? Do you have a favorite death I didn’t list that you thought was well executed? Let me know, I’m curious.
Have any suggestions for future T5F’s? Feel free to send ‘em in! :D

If they turned Lilly into an ally in s4, I think I would've been happy. Like... imagine meeting her and she's NOT such a bitch! I'd be ecstatic. Especially because I like her in s1 (until she kills muh wife)
Y’know, I would even accept the idea that she’s still with the delta, so on the opposing side, but then we actually get to talk to her when she’s not subjected to nothing more than a mustache-twirling villain.
She doesn’t necessarily switch sides, but maybe there’s a moment where she catches Clementine doing something, breaking in or whatever, and she does what Minerva did in the forest or pretends to do on the boat-- she lets Clementine go.
Like, think about it-- Clementine and Lilly have talked, Lilly makes it clear that she isn’t into the whole kidnapping children thing but she literally has no choice. It’s either follow the delta or die, and she’s gotta survive.
We’re also gonna throw away the fact that she kills Mitch because that was done poorly anyway and the only way it could work is if they went full-blown villain with her, y’know?
Hell, maybe Lilly can be the one who is stern with Louis/Violet, Aasim, and Omar but for their safety, warning them about what they do to soldiers who don’t cooperate and promises she can keep them safe, but they have to shut up and listen.
Does that stop what happens to Louis and what apparently happened to Violet that was literally never explained or shown in-game when Clem comes to rescue them? Probably not since we gotta have some sort of big baddie and y’know... consequences and the shock of it all. But anyway--
My point-- maybe Lilly catches Clementine when she’s sneaking to grab AJ back but Lilly’s just turns her head and lets her go? Or maybe Lilly steps in when Clem’s fighting with the big baddie?
I dunno, man, just throwing ideas out there.
You either gotta make her the best antagonist of the series [St. John levels of good] or you gotta give her some depth and gray areas. They tried with this Lilly, I know, but having like, two moments just doesn’t cut it for me at this point.

Do you have any unpopular opinions about TWDG?
Oh probably haha
I’m pretty sure I’ve answered this question before but a looooong time ago, so who knows, maybe my so-called “unpopular opinions” have changed. The thing about those tho is that things you might think is unpopular but then it’s not really because then a bunch of people will agree with you. Plus, I feel like most of us are either on the same page, or we’re split a close 50/50, y’know? But we’ll see.
So, one that I have is in regards to Christa.
I like Christa, but I don’t think I like her as much as everyone else does, y’know? You always see people declaring how much they love and want Christa back, and that’s fair because she’s a good character.
But when I think of Christa, I think of Omid and I adore Omid, so I think what I was doing for a long time was associating them as a one. I adore Omid so I must adore Christa but really... I don’t think that’s the case.
What gets me is that she’s a cool character who went through some bullshit that we never got to see and it kind of makes her forgettable in a way? Does that make sense?
She lost Omid because Clementine was careless with her gun, then she lost her baby and still had to care for Clementine after that.
She cared about Clementine, no doubt. Hell, Christa was with Clementine the longest compared to her other groups. But you know she held some resentment for her because of what happened to Omid and the baby. You can fucking feel it in the insultingly small bit she was apart of at the beginning of s2, yet you feel the care because Christa also insisted that she was by herself to these assholes who caught her.
And then she’s gone. Dead, alive, who knows. Everyone has a theory.
And yes, they had the perfect opportunity to bring her back but they chose fucking Lilly instead which I’ll never understand. Christa makes way more sense given that Clementine now has what she “took away” from Christa: a kid in her care and a lover.
Gee... wouldn’t it be a shame if Christa took AJ and Louis/Violet away from you the same way you took Omid and her baby away, huh Clem?
But no, have a Lilly and pretend they have a connection. That’s fine.
Anyway... Yeah. Christa’s fine, I like her, but I don’t think she was used properly or to her full potential and to me, she ends up forgotten even though she shouldn’t be given her story.
Let’s see, speaking of s2, it’s my least favorite of the twdg series. I know a lot of people put ANF at the bottom or say they loved s2, but not me. Mostly because it’s not enjoyable the same way S1 or S4 or even ANF is. Kenny’s the worst, everyone dies for the sake of a big body count, Jane sucks, Big Brother Luke gets abducted by aliens, Sarah was a wasted character, and Bonnie just... ugh.
Oh, another character that most people love but I don’t would be Minerva. I can’t fucking stand Minerva but not necessarily because of Minerva herself. It’s the way she ruins a huge part of Violet’s character and routes.
Violet takes one step forward, two steps back when it comes to Minerva and I hate it so much. If they actually did it properly and had Vi grow from Minerva, then I’d be fine enough with Minerva but no. They fucked it up and I’m still so salty about it.
I know Minerva’s a tragic character and that’s why she’s such a snake when it comes to the delta and shit, but damn it, I can’t with her. The only time I ever sympathize with her is when Lilly’s on her bullshit, but other than that? Nothing.
I will admit that I like her role on the bridge. That’s probably the only thing I actually like about her tbh.
Let’s see, do I have any others?
Uhm, I love David and always get the ending of ANF where he’s alive and back at Richmond. I have a whole thing about that so I won’t go into much detail about that one.
Javirad is my #1 ship from ANF, too. Don’t see anyone shipping that so we’ll call that an unpopular opinion.
Uhh... is that it? I think that’s it. If I have any others then I can’t remember them haha. Don’t know how unpopular they are, but it’s all I got.

Lilly: Give me your voice and I'll make you human // Louis: but without my voice, how can I- // Lilly: BODY LANGUAGE HA!
ngl my favorite part of Ursula’s song is her saying that hahaha
Also, I totally reworked that whole part to fit with Lilly and Louis and it took WAY too long to write hahaha:
Lilly: The only way to get what you want is to become a human yourself. Lucky for you, I have just thing you need.
Louis: Wait you can just... do that?
Lilly: Oh Louis, of course, I can. That’s what I pride myself on, what I live for: helping unfortunate merfolk, like yourself. Those poor souls without a place in this world, without someone to turn to or listen to their desires. I’m here to help, Louis, with whatever you need.
Louis: You can make me human...? How?
Lilly: Magic, of course... You’ve heard of me and my past? I’m sure Minerva’s told you. I’m not proud of it. They weren’t exactly kidding when they all called me a witch, but I’ve since changed. I only use my magic for good. It’s a talent that I’ve always possessed and I’ve used it to help many. So, here’s the deal: I’ll turn you into a human for 30 days, okay? Only 30 days, and in that time, I need you to find and bring me a ring.
Louis: A ring?
Lilly: Yes, a ring worn by the lady of the house. It’s crucial that you find it and bring it to me before the sun sets on the 30th day, otherwise, you will turn back into a merman and... well, I’m afraid there will be consequences. You see, magic is very tricky and very strict. If you don’t hold up your end of the deal, the magic will turn you into one of them.
Louis: The-the-
Lilly: The water walkers, yes. Poor, unfortunate things. They couldn’t hold up their end and paid the price. I’m still working on a way to turn them back to the way they were, to set them free... But, don’t worry, Louis. There isn’t a doubt in my mind that you’ll find the ring. 30 days is more than enough time. So... do we have a deal?
Louis: ...If I become human, then... then I’ll never be with my father or Marlon or anyone ever again...
Lilly: But you’ll have your freedom, the life you’ve so longed for, surrounded by those who love you for who you are, and would never, ever hurt you the way your father and Marlon have.
Louis: ...
Lilly: Remember, this is entirely up to you, and I want to lay everything out there for you. No secrets. So, we’ll need to discuss the subject of payment.
Louis: What do you want? Gold? Pearls?
Lilly: No, no, no such things. Honestly, if it were up to me, there would be no payment or consequences, but that’s magic. It’s simple, really. Think of it like this: Magic is all about equality. I help you, you help me. I give you something, and in return, you give me something of equal value. Now, I wish it wasn’t this way. I wish I could make you human and that be it, but that’s not how magic works, unfortunately. In order for me to turn you into a human, I will need your voice.
Louis: My voice...?
Lilly: I’m afraid so. No more talking, singing, joking, nothing.
Louis: But without my voice, how am I supposed to-?
Lilly: What? Communicate? There are more ways to communicate outside of dull words. You’ll have your looks! That pretty face, your hands, and never underestimate the importance of your body language. Besides, the people up there don’t like a lot of blabber, anyway. They think a boy who jests is nothing but a pest
Louis: ...
Lilly: On land, they think a boy who keeps to himself to be thoughtful, alluring. You’ll be desireable. They’ll all want to know you, want to know what you’re thinking. They’ll dote on you, give you their full attention. That girl- Clementine, is it?
Louis: Clementine...
Lilly: She’ll be drawn to your silent nature. Girls want a man who will listen, who won’t interrupt them with annoying jokes or unwanted input.
Louis: ...
Lilly: Besides, what is idle prattle for? They’re not all that impressed with extensive conversation, Louis, and a boy who holds his tongue gets respect.
Louis: ....
Lilly: Make your choice, Louis. I haven’t got all day. It will only cost your voice, a fair token. You can live without that for a while, can’t you? Perhaps you’ll even find it to be a blessing in disguise... Once you find the ring and bring it to me, I’ll give you back your voice and you’ll get your happily ever after. All you need to do is sign the scroll...

This weekend we’re talking about the Little Mermaid AU, an AU which loosely follows the plot of the Disney classic. I wanted to start tonight earlier, but I got called into work and won’t be off until probably 9 tonight.
As always, I want everyone to have a chance to participate and send in asks early if they’re unable to make it tonight, so I typed this up to give you a basic background of the AU so that we’re all on the same starting page, y’know?
Louis is a merman, he wants to become a human, he does, shit goes down, Lilly fucking dies, happily ever after. Simple, yeah?
I’ve had a long time to think about this AU since I first thought about it last year but never shared it since I saw someone else talking about it and I was like “Oh yay! Someone had the same idea! I’m gonna message them and-” and then they got a lot of shit for it because, y’know, Louis loses his voice and ep3 was brand new and that whole thing happened.
But I got over that and I want to talk about it now. So, here are some points that I’ve come up with so far:
Louis is a merman who’s under a lot of pressure from his father. He has a great fascination with the human world, collecting treasures that he finds and hiding them away in his secret grove. Marlon knows about this place, but he’s unsupportive of Louis’ hobby and eventually tells Louis’ father about it.
The only one who shares Louis’ interests in the human world is Minerva, who used to be human herself until she made a deal with Lilly to collect 10 pearls and she could have the power to change from human to mermaid whenever she wanted. She failed because Lilly is slimy and rigged it so that Minerva could never find the 10th pearl.
Because of this, Minerva was made a mermaid forever and Lilly took Sophie and turned her into a water walker to join her army.
Oh yeah, Lilly has a whole army of water walkers [like regular walkers but like underwater and more fish like] that she plans on using against Louis’ father to get his trident so that she can control the sea.
Lilly’s a slimy sea witch. She collects humans and other merfolk and turns them into these water walkers, which is eventually what happens to Lee and his crew one day.
The only survivor on the ship was Ben, btw.
Anyway, Minerva’s actually getting close to Louis under Lilly’s direction. Minerva takes Louis up to the surface one day when a ship is launching fireworks and celebrating Lee’s birthday, who died years prior to that. Louis and Minerva watch as Kenny presents a statue of Lee to Clementine, and of course, Louis sees Clementine and is all heart eyes over her.
Everyone else is on the ship, too, but I’ll get to them later.
A huge storm hits [thanks to Lilly] and Clementine gets hit on the head and nearly drowns. Louis is able to save her, pulling her to shore. Louis hasn’t ever seen a human up close like this before. Eventually, Clementine stirs awake, panicked, but is calmed with Louis begins singing to her.
After that, Louis shares what happened with Marlon, who at this point is so sick and worried about Louis’ delusions that he finally tells Louis’ father, who finds Louis’ grove and destroys it.
Heartbroken, Louis swims away where Minerva is waiting for him. She takes him to Lilly who offers to turn him into a human if he can find a special ring for her. If he doesn’t, he turns back into a merman and will join her water walker army. She convinces him to agree, giving him 30 days to find the ring [which, btw, Lilly already has because she’s an asshole].
Louis’ transformation into a human is painful, leaving his entire body bruised. It hurts enough that he loses consciousness, leaving Minerva to bring him to the surface and to shore.
Mitch, Nick, and Luke find him the next morning.
Now, as for the others...
Lee divorced his cheating wife, moved away and bought a huge chunk of land next to the ocean and started a fishing business with his buddy, Kenny. He and Kenny built a house on the land, and once that was done, Lee adopted Clementine and AJ.
Lee met and married Carley. They later adopted Violet. They also take in a bunch of foster kids because I gotta have everyone else here, y’know? So that includes Aasim, Ruby, Omar, Brody, the twins, and Tenn.
Luke and Nick are live-ins who work for Lee. Luke teaches the kids piano and art while Nick is the repairman. And yes, they’re married and Mitch and Willy are their adopted sons who live there with them.
James was hired to work with the animals they have. He comes from a shady background, but Lee wanted to give the kid a chance and hired him anyway, seeing James just wants to leave it all behind him.
The Garcia’s are longtime friends of Lee, so every year they come and spend time with the Everetts on Lee’s birthday, even after his passing. This includes Javier, Gabe, and Mari.
David’s off somewhere else. Probably trying to make his marriage with Kate work or something, I dunno.
I have WAY more, but this is already a lot and a good enough starting point. I’m excited to share this AU with y’all, and to hear your thoughts and headcanons for this tonight!

Violet's exactly like Pearl. A manipulative bitch, who ruins everyone else's life for her own selfish wants.
.....Uhm.
Okay, this ask has left me kinda jarred. Lots to unpack here within these two sentences...
Anon, while you are entitled to your opinion, I’m not sure if you’re aware that we love and respect Violet on this blog.  I’m a Louis and clouis lover through and through, but I still love Violet’s character and this... is not her character. I just- no, haha
Now, I don’t know anything about Pearl because I’ve never watched Steven Universe, but I do know about a little bit about Violet.
Saying this about Violet is like saying that Louis is nothing but a jokester who doesn’t care about anything and only wants to get into Clementine’s pants. It’s just not... even a thing when you actually get to know them. They’re both complex characters with unique flaws and highlights about them.
I haven’t watched Violet’s route all the way through, I’ve only seen the first two episodes of her route and then gifs from the rest. But, I have seen how she reacts in Louis’ route when you don’t save her. The first time left me furious because I had a lot of emotions about everything going through me [especially after finding out what happened to Louis’ tongue in her route] and I even made a post ranting about it in all my fury.
Then, I calmed down and replayed it and looked at everything through Violet’s pov. While I think it’s mostly poor writing in the end when it comes to Violet’s capture and them telling us that she was mentally tortured only for them to turn around and say, “Gotcha! She actually got a physical injury like Louis and mental torture did nothing because she forgives Clementine!” Louis’ kidnapped route was way better executed in my opinion, but hey. Can’t have everything.
Violet has had a lot of things happen to her that lead to her having abandonment issues, and if you go through her route you get insight into that. Even if you go through Louis’ route 100%, after Marlon’s death she still backs you up. She and Louis have the appropriate reactions to the situation. Violet sees Clementine as the one who brought the truth to light, as another girl who she’s warmed up to and a friend she could connect to given their similarities.
Violet doesn’t try and manipulate Clementine into a relationship with her. If you just want to be friends with her, she’s 100% okay with that! In fact, she’s thrilled! She’s finally found someone she feels she can trust and bond with! Hell, if you go with Louis the whole time leading up to that point, she’s still friends with Clementine up to her capture.
So, what confuses me the most about this ask is the “who ruins everyone else’s lives for her own selfish wants” part.
Uhm......... when?
When she’s constantly rude to Brody? Yeah, it’s not nice and it makes things tense between the two of them, but you can help Violet see that it’s not Brody’s fault and she tries. She doesn’t just go, “Yeah well fuck Brody anyway.”
When she wants Clementine to stay? Is that ruining the lives of the others? Because... no. It doesn’t. Violet’s right about them needing her to stay and help protect them.  Even Louis, who was left heartbroken after watching his best friend’s murder right in front of him and who was the one who really wanted them gone, admits that he was blinded by all the shit happening and that it was the wrong thing to do.
When she gets saved instead causing Louis to lose his tongue and “his life to be over”?
I’m sorry, but Louis’ life isn’t over. It’s not ruined, it’s changed. He may have lost a huge part of himself, something that will take years to heal from [yes, game, it’s not something he’s going to be okay with in a week yeesh] but it’s not Violet’s fault. Violet wasn’t like, “Oh good you saved me ahaha fuck Louis” she’s fucking vengeful. She’s furious, and she’s going to do everything she can to get him back.
Again, throwing more shade at the writers [but not really because blah blah budget and time blah blah I know] but I can see why some might think Violet doesn’t care about Louis based on her lack of reaction in the cells. And that’s a part that I do have a lot of issues with.
I’m fully aware of the explanation: Violet had her freak out while Clementine was knocked out and now Violet doesn’t have time to focus on Louis’ condition if they want to escape.
Which is bullshit.
The Violet we were shown up to this point would’ve at least asked, “How bad is it?” and follow it up with a “We need to get out of here and get him to Ruby.” It’s two in character lines that would’ve fixed that problem.
And then there’s Violet and Minerva. Violet acknowledges that this isn’t the Minerva she had a relationship with. And while I am annoyed that she wants to stay with her on the boat regardless of choices, I see it more as “I can’t leave her to just die here I am human after all” in her route. And Violet protects Clementine, AJ, and Tenn from her the best she can on the bridge.
Which, by the way, her sacrificing her life to save Tenn when you don’t trust AJ? Not selfish. And if AJ does shoot him, she’s rightfully pissed off.
Anyway, going back to Violet on the boat....
The thing is, when it comes down to the Violet vs Louis choice, you can look at it two different ways when you let her get captured. You can see it as Violet feeling abandoned because Clementine chose Louis over her, or because Clementine neglected to save her. While those two things look exactly the same just with different wording, they aren’t.
If you consider that Louis and Violet are as close as it’s implied, Violet probably knows that Louis and Clementine are together now. Louis knows when Violet and her are together [suggested when you romance Violet but save Louis, he mentions that Clem and her are really close] so Violet could definitely take that as “You chose your boyfriend over me” after all the mental torture she went through with Lilly and Minerva. This is something that I explored in [with you] because it’s such a conflict within her character that I thought was intriguing.
And the other way to look at it is that Violet isn’t upset that she saved Louis, she’s upset that Clementine couldn’t save her too. Someone she put all her trust into, regardless of the romance or best friendship. Again, this could be magnified out of proportion when you take into account Lilly and Minerva’s manipulation of her during her capture.
We’ve seen Lilly work her slimy magic. Given everything that’s happened, Violet stopped fighting and let it all get to her. She was an easy subject [or toy] for Lilly to break, especially since she has Minerva as a tool. It’s not hard to think about for two seconds and come to the conclusion that yeah, Violet’s head really was fucked up after spending all that time with Lilly.
Now, while I’m not the biggest fan of Violet forgiving Clementine so easily, it does show us that she’s aware that she was wrong to attack Clementine in the cell. She’s also been abandoned AGAIN and now she’s blind because of it. She’s honestly just a mess right now, and all she has in that moment is Clementine and Louis, who she has to trust to guide her to safety. Once again, she has to force herself into someone else’s hand and hope they don’t abandon her, too.
What I’m getting at, anon, is that Violet isn’t a selfish, manipulative bitch.
Violet’s sarcastic, but really funny, soft but hardened, sweet and an awkward romantic, and she’s passionate about protecting her family. She can close her self off, turn her head away and stay out of conflict, but she can also step in and lead when she has to. She makes mistakes, she gets angry, downright pissed sometimes. She also can apologize for this and recognizes when she’s wrong. She’s been through some shit in this world, and based on your choices, she can possibly give her life to save a boy she cared deeply for from his deranged sister, and the death is long and cruel.
Like I said in the beginning, anon, you’re entitled to your opinion, but throwing around things like this only makes you look ignorant and hostile, and it’s stuff like this that I rarely answer. Tonight this just threw me for a loop and hey, I’ve got my own opinions and explanations for things.
So here’s my jumbled essay written at the lovely hour of midnight.
You probably didn’t want it, but here it is anyway.

Finished ep4 again.
Random thoughts as the episode progressed:
AJ’s opening narration is wonderful. Seriously, his voice acting throughout this season has been top notch and it really shines here.
Lilly’s dead body fills me with more joy than it should and I’m growing more and more concerned about that...
AND there goes my hat! Oh well, the thing was probably cursed anyway
LOUIS MY BOY! ❤️❤️ Seriously, I’m always so happy to see him, though I’m still surprised to see him so early. I’m glad that they did it this way so that I didn’t have to worry about him through half of the episode.
Also that clouis hug is just ❤️❤️❤️❤️
And I still am baffled that they blinded Violet. Like, I know the hints were always there but I didn’t actually think they’d do it, y’know? And Louis seeing her and how his eyes get so wide as the realization hits him is terrific.  If there was one thing I could add to this season is more Louis and Violet brotp moments, like a hug or something. But having them hold hands as Louis guides her to safety is pretty great. ❤️
The raiders are dying oh no...
And Minerva’s super fucked. She’s bit and out of her goddamn mind.
❤️LOUIS KISSED HER FIRST❤️
Like, two inches in front of AJ but I’m sure he’s not grossed out or anything haha
Damn Minerva calm down sheesh
AJ calling Tenn a dummy 😂
Is it just me or is Tenn’s voice deeper? Like, he sounds different than he did last episode.
I know walkers could break into this cave any second but I gotta get them collectibles
James and his eyebrows are still mad at me...
Bro why ya gotta try and kidnap my son? Didn’t you see what happened to the last people who tried to do that??
Seriously though, the whole argument with James is wild.
“you had him empty an entire clip into that woman’s head!”
“nah just half a clip” 😂😂😂
James quit pacing like that! I can’t take you seriously with that hilarious snarl on your face!
James’ voice acting is really damn good, though. I mean, it’s Johnny Yong Bosch so I wouldn’t expect anything less but it really makes the entire scene having him and Melissa Hutchison together going back and forth like this.
Also, Tenn throughout this whole thing has to be SUPER uncomfortable haha
“You can trust me to make the hard calls.”
*exaggerated, drawn-out whale noise of despair*
But AJ’s right... he’s certainly not going to enjoy his next kill jfc
Bye James... I love you, walker man...
❤️❤️❤️❤️LOUIS❤️❤️❤️❤️
“You’re not dead. That’s good.” ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Why wasn’t there an option to smooch him here?? Like, we didn’t know if he got away completely safe? He didn’t know if we were alive or worse?? Like, if there was ever a time to get some smoochin’ in IT’S NOW! I don’t care if there are children present! You literally smooched two inches in front of AJ before! PUCKER UP!
Also, I can’t be the only one who got such a dreadful vibe during this scene and while they’re walking to the bridge? Like Louis is all “It’s over! Yay let’s build a house together!” and all I could keep thinking the first time I played was “I swear on Mitch’s Masterpiece if someone just shoots Louis dead while we’re having a moment I’m going to CROAK”
But then talking about building that purple, 914-floor mansion with a tree house is basically one big “I love you” in disguise I mean c’mon
Also, I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before but Louis’ theme is my favorite. Every time I hear it during a clouis moment I practically swoon.
 “Can I help?”
“Of course you can. You’re in charge of painting.”
*gross sobbing intensifies*
Goddamn it Minerva can you just... NOT.
Tenn’s dead and I hate everything.
In all seriousness, though, as furious as it makes to me to give Minerva what her crazy, delusional ass wanted, I still feel this is slightly better than letting Louis die. It’s hard to explain, but Tenn dying this way, making the same mistakes, just seems more tragically fitting? While I feel like Louis dying because of it... isn’t. Maybe it’s selfish of me, but I’m too attached to his character to let him go like that. If Tenn wants to run into the arms of his “sister” while she’s literally being DEVOURED by walkers then... fine.
There is no right answer to this.
While I hate this consequence and that fact that either Tenn or Louis HAVE to die, I won’t deny that it’s impactful and emotional.
Clementine’s bit and I hate everything.
Cue flashbacks of me repeating: “YOU HAVE AN AXE! CUT IT OFF!”
Playing as AJ is one of the sickest things in this game and I absolutely love it.
Y’all they were really trying to make us cry, huh...?
Oh no. Clementine’s dead. Oooooooh nooooooo...
Oh hai Eddie, funny running into you here- aaaaaand he’s dead. Well.
I’m not sobbing over little baby AJ I swear-
Goddamn fish I hate fishing
ROSIE IS BEST GOODEST GIRL IN THE WORLD
I crossed out Violet and Minerva’s initials because I don’t want Violet to see them and be reminded of what her girlfriend became- wait...
Tenn, even as a walker, still found his way back towards the school AND is still doing his hand thing. Goddamn.
AASIM AND RUBY HOLD HANDS ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
RUSIM IS CANON❤️❤️❤️
"Take Us Back” is such a great song...
Oh hai Clementine
Goodbye foot.
“Eh, wasn’t my favorite foot anyway.” WHY WASN’T THAT A LINE??
I don’t see Mitch’s grave, therefore, he’s still alive and in hibernation
don’t fight me on this
Omar’s laugh tho ❤️
Ruby that burp was weak. You’re never going to impress Aasim like that LEMME SHOW YOU HOW IT’S DONE
Well, while I’m not thrilled that Violet forgave Clem so easily, I am glad that they’re friends again, y’know?
Louis, I love you and I will miss you and you’re my absolute favorite and I love you and-
Aasim chasing Willy around like an older brother teasing and playing with his little brother? That’s the good shit right there.
“Did I do a good job?”
*Clementine will remember that*
Jeez, here! Just take my heart, goodness sake!
Welp.
I’m crying again.
Lilly’s fucking dead.
And I left Louis feeling loved.
All is good with the world.
except there’s still walkers roaming around but still
I’d say this is my second favorite episode because I think I like ep3 just a teeny tiny bit more, but I will note that this one did make me cry just a little bit more than ep3. Ep3 had me tearing up at Lee’s scene, but ep4 is just a rollar coaster of chaos and angry tears and sad tears and happy tears...
All in all, this season is my favorite out of all of them. Yes, even beating s1. It really makes me wish there were 5 episodes rather than 4, but for what it is, it’s special and I love it and I can’t wait to come back and play it again.❤️

Episode 4: Take Us Back I’M DEAD INSIDE [Despair Route]
..............No.
Just
No.
To everything.
I’m still fuming after episode 3.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Where the fuck did James go, anyway? Did he fly off the boat?
Welp, the big Lilly scene. Let’s see what all the hype is about.
Tumblr media
oh okay
I’ll just forget about the fact that you kidnapped my boyfriend and friends after murdering my best friend Mitch, then proceeded to cut out my boyfriend's tongue, cut off Violet’s finger, then murdered James.
Let bygones be bygones.
Tumblr media
No Lilly
You ARE evil.
What you did was evil. And if I weren’t on the despair route, I would’ve shot you in your lying fucking ratass face.
AAAAAAAND it’s over.
I’m am so happy that letting James die amounted to a two-second conversation with Lilly. So. Worth. It.
Oh wait
NO IT’S FUCKING NOT
ARE YOU JOKING
DO YOU THINK ME A FOOL??
Tumblr media
I knew it was bad. I knew letting Lilly live didn’t mean shit. Now she gets to flow down the river and live the rest of her life doing who the fuck knows.
Hell, I bet she DOES run into David and live a happy little life with all her livid children.
Because at this point, why not.
What I said: “I hope you find peace, Lilly.”
What I meant: “I HOPE YOU CATCH ON FIRE AND BURN TO DEATH BUT THE DAMAGE DOESN’T REACH YOUR BRAIN SO YOU STILL TURN INTO A WALKER AND LIVE THE REST OF ETERNITY STUCK BETWEEN A HELL OF LIFE AND DEATH.”
BITCH
I fucking askdjaksjdalksjdlkajsdlkaaaaaaaaaaa-
The opening credits haven’t even opened and I’m already this pissed off.
I know it probably wasn’t in the budget or they didn’t have time to give us something substantial with letting Lilly live but fucking hell. If I have to sacrifice James, at least let me have a real final battle with Lilly. Let me have the option to bash her head in with a saltlick. Give me something!
AAAAAAAAHHDHDJLKSJLKJSLKSJSLK
......
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Louis just..... makes me want to cry.
I’m serious, I have never felt so awful looking at Louis and knowing what I did to him.
The number of pictures of Louis smiling and being cute that I’m going to have to look at to cope with this nonsense jfc.....
...
....Really.
That’s it, Vi?
“Lou...”
That’s ALL you have to say.
I
You
Not even a hug. Nothing. Nope, we gotta talk about Minerva some more because clearly, she’s so much more important.
 Fuck Minerva, Violet!
Again, if she were fully in character, she would’ve hugged Louis and not given a shit about Minerva.
AND YOU’RE STILL CONCERNED ABOUT HER
“What the fuck is she doing? She’s going to get herself killed!”
VIOLET
THERE ARE ONLY SO MANY TIMES I CAN SCREAM AT YOU TO FORGET ABOUT MINERVA
oh huh
Louis is still the one to fall over in the cart
Don’t know why I find that interesting but I do?
Aw fuck
I don’t get to see him again until the ending.
Well that’s just.... depressing.
Have I mentioned how much I hate this route?
wtf has Tenn’s voice always been this deep? Why am I just noticing this now?
Tumblr media
Thanks. I hate it.
Okay. Okay okay okay.
I will give it this.
I like the scene with Clementine and AJ. With James dead, and with the choices I’ve made up to this point, it has a way more serious, almost quiet tone to it. With James, it’s all anger and panic when he tries to take AJ away, but here...... I don’t know. With James I’ve gotten to the point where the cave scene is so wild that I can do nothing but laugh all “Yeah, yeah, James, calm your shit and quit pacing, you look foolish.”
But here.... This choice:
Tumblr media
Is suddenly more heartbreaking now that I have to basically ruin AJ’s confidence in himself after he opened up to Clem in a way he never has before. In my eyes, this is just.... such a negative impact on their relationship. I mean, I get it. No one wants AJ to be a killer, or to like killing or whatever but.... still.
And, on top of that, this choice cements Violet’s fate and I hate that.
This whole route fucks Violet over in every way possible. Not only do I romance Louis and spend all my time with him, but the only reason I saved her was so that Louis won’t die in the end. Then, I let Ey Yo cut her finger off, she went through all that stupid nonsense with Minerva, and how she’s going to die to save Tenn’s life.
Fuck everything about this.
The being said... I fucking miss Louis.
“I like Aasim.”
Hahahahaha okay, the way AJ said that made me laugh.
Hi Violet...........
Also, funny how Tenn also runs up to hug Violet but he doesn’t do that with Louis. I know he and Violet are way closer, so it makes sense, but with Louis he’s just “Oh it’s just Louis.... Guess I’ll join in the hug, too.” Hahaha
What’s less funny is how Violet doesn’t say shit about Louis.
Louis at least mentions that Violet’s eyes aren’t infected but Violet’s just got.... nothing. I want to know how he’s doing. Ugh.
I don’t blame Violet for this, I blame the writing. Because AGAIN. If she were kept in character, she would’ve mentioned him.
Hell, CLEMENTINE should’ve asked because, y’know, he’s kind of her boyfriend???
But what do I know.
I don’t know nothin’ about these characters.
God, I miss Louis.
Well, at least Violet knows she was an idiot about Minerva.
PFFFFTT-
“Welcome to Happy Sunshine Land! Here’s Mayor Violet!”
“NO I HATE IT”
Oh Vi...... managing to make me laugh seconds before chaos erupts...
Oh fuck
oh fuck
oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck
nope
nope
nope nope nope nope
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
....
....
....
That
I fucking loathe that.
Seeing and hearing it.
I had to take a break and come back to this. I’m sorry, but that is just so wrong. It’s wrong! I love you Tenn, and damn it, you’re ending better blow my fucking mind after having to sacrifice Violet to see it but.... No.
Violet shouldn’t be the one who died on the bridge.
It’s not even a long scene, but it fucking feels like it is.
They rip Violet apart and going back to look at it, she’s still fighting them as she falls and they just cover her.
Fuck Minerva.
I have nothing for her.
I hope in whatever afterlife there is, Violet kicks her ass all the way down to the fiery pits of hell.
And Clementine just..... Sad face for two seconds and then we’re off.
We don’t even really mourn her. We mourn Tenn for a moment when AJ’s shoots him, but Violet’s dead and Tenn’s in shock and AJ slaps him, says Violet died for him, and they go.
I fucking-
ugh
UGH
And Clem’s bit
I hate everything
However, one thing that I DON’T hate is playing as AJ. I LOVE playing as AJ during the barn scene.
I had to take another break after the flashback scene. I still can’t believe I’ve watched both of those Clementine and AJ scenes over a hundred times and it still manages to make me tear up every time I go back to play.
Now that I’ve calmed down a bit, let’s see what this ending has to offer.
CROSS THAT HEART SHIT OUT
Violet deserved so much more than Minerva.
...Wait.
Tenn never made it back to the school?
Okay, I get it. So, basically, he was ashamed after what happened and went back to find Violet and Minerva. I like how he realizes how “naive” he’s been throughout this whole thing and that he doesn’t want to be the reason someone dies again, that he wants AJ to teach him everything he knows. Which, in my personal opinion, is the right answer. Telling him to keep being an artist without learning from his mistakes, without teaching him better and smarter ways of survival just lets Violet die in vain.
I’m also thankful that they didn’t make me see Violet as a walker. I mean, fuck everything about her death but... I would’ve flipped my shit again if I had to see that.
RUBY
Oh Take Us Back..... why ya tryin’ to make me cry again....
Ruby and Aasim are holding hands and the small bit of hope makes me feel a little bit better.
Tumblr media
LOOK AT HIM
My beautiful boy........
I am never ever doing another playthrough without romancing and saving Louis ever again.
Even now that we’re into the “happy” ending, it still feels wrong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Still annoyed that nothing is said about Violet.
Nothing.
“It’s been a week tho they’ve already mourned her blah blah blah” I don’t fucking care.
Louis....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Louis places the note on the table so gently.....
Okay. The clouis scene is cute. It’s really cute. But it doesn’t make up for all the shit I had to do to get it myself.
BUT... I won’t get into too much because I’ve made posts about this, but I don’t like how happy and neatly wrapped up everything’s portrayed as. I want a real reaction out of Louis- who, btw has now lost two of his best friends, has been shot, was kidnapped, was traumatized after having his tongue cut out, who will never talk again and will never sing again, and saw his girlfriend come back to the school without her leg after being bitten and on the brink of death, and thought Tenn was dead on top of all that- rather than............... happy.
I still love the scene, but if you asked me when this takes place without any context, I would’ve told you a year at the least.
...
I’m not gonna lie: I’m a fucking mess.
I don’t know if I can say that I hate this ending, because really, it’s the same ending with a few changes.
But I hate that Violet is dead. I hate what happened to Louis. I hate that I had to sacrifice Violet [and in a way Louis] in order for Tenn to live. I hate that James is dead. I FUCKING HATE THAT LILLY IS ALIVE OUT THERE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In conclusion: FUCK ALMOST EVERYTHING ABOUT THE DESPAIR ROUTE
The Good: I got to see scenes and interactions I never have before. It was cool hanging out with Violet for once. She made me laugh a couple times. Tenn’s ending is good. The cute clouis scene with the note is sweet.
The Bad: Literally everything else. Fuck letting Louis get captured, fuck letting Lilly live, fuck letting James and Violet die. Fuck not trusting AJ and adding damage to the relationship between him and Clementine. FUCK THE BOAT SCENE OF VIOLET CARING MORE FOR MINERVA THAN LOUIS. FUCK NOT GETTING TO SMOOCH AND SEE MY BOY’S FACE. FUCK LILLY, FUCK MINERVA, FUCK THIS ROUTE.
Again, I... don’t have any real words for the feelings this route brought me.
Just.... mad.
I’m mad. And sad. And dead.
I just need a minute to stop being dead inside.
I’m gonna need to read so much fluff after this jfc....

Do you have any unpopular opinions regarding TWDG?
Oh boy, let’s see…
- Conrad is one of the best characters in ANF.
I fucking love this dude.
If I remember correctly, when the game first came out, nearly everyone killed him in the sewers. Every youtuber I watched at the time did and the ending statistics were very onesided. So I don’t know if it’s unpopular because most people just killed him off because “CLEM!” or if it’s because they genuinely don’t like him but I never see anyone talk about Conrad.
Minor character or not, this dude goes through some shit. Not only has he lost a child in the past, but he watches his girlfriend get tortured and murdered AND he loses his home all at the same time. He’s absolutely heartbroken [did you see him fall and cry??] and in his grief, he blames Javier which fair enough. And the whole thing with the sewers is understandable when you aren’t thinking “DO EVERYTHING CLEM SAYS”. He sincerely apologizes for it. AND he has one of the coolest kills when you let him take care of Badger. AND he does save Javier’s life. AND he’s just underrated, man.
And while on the subject of ANF and it’s characters…
- I wish Carlos survived to the end of s2.
This one’s a little weird because I don’t necessarily love Carlos, but I do wish we had more focus on him and Sarah in s2. And while I actually don’t mind the way he died [it was realistic given the circumstances of the group getting shot at while escaping through the walkers y’know] I do mind that his death amounted to nothing.
Because Sarah dies anyway.
If he died and Sarah lived and got her to come to terms with it, then it’d be a different story. But, like the rest of the cabin group, he was tossed away to make room for Kenny and Jane.
Of all the characters, Carlos is one I really wanted more backstory on. And with all the speculation that he did know it was a dog bite and just wanted to keep Clementine away from Sarah, it really makes me curious about the lengths he’d go to to keep Sarah in that bubble, no matter how damaging it is.
I’ve recently thought about an ending where Clementine goes with Carlos and Sarah and he admits his guilt in intentionally not helping her, and Clem getting the choice of forgiving him or not. I dunno. Just a thought.
- The St Johns are some of the best antagonists in the series
And I feel that way because these are people that you would 100% find in the apocalypse. Like, they’re fucking cannibals butchering people because “hey, the dead do nothin’ but eat people now and why let that meat go to waste??” which is super fucked. And terrifying.
We’re brought to this place that’s seemingly untouched [untainted if you will] but the end of the world and everything’s hunky dory and suddenly Mark’s upstairs with his legs cut off and WE’RE GONNA EAT HIM.
They just… cut his legs off. He 100% would’ve survived that arrow shot but THEY BUTCHERED HIM. AND FED HIS MEAT TO HIS FRIENDS. AND WERE GONNA BUTCHER THE REST OF THEM FOR TRADE.
And honestly? I really wish that Andy wasn’t determinant and replaced the Stranger. Him or Jolene. Anyone but the Stranger.
- S4 is better than S1
Don’t know if this is unpopular, but I enjoy playing s4 over s1. I know everyone loves s1 because “LEE! Cute Clementine! Sad ending!” and all, and I agree, but… The controls in s1 are the worst throughout the series, like every time I have to shoot walkers I get super frustrated. Everyone dies aside from Clementine, Omid, Christa, and Kenny [and Molly and the cancer patients and whatnot but you get what I mean] and the Stranger is one of the worst antagonists in the series. There’s also a lot of characters that get introduced that I don’t care about [Ben’s teacher/classmate, most of the cancer patients like Brie and Vernon, ect]
And while I love Lee and Clementine’s dynamic, I do find that I like Clementine and AJ’s just a little bit more. The whole thing with AJ always listening and being molded by what you tell him, but also realizing that Clementine’s not always right and he has to make his own choices sometimes, is one of my favorite things of the game.
I also care about each and every member of the school. I love them all, even Marlon and all his shady ratboyness. And I didn’t care about any side characters the way I care about Louis. Like, I love Omid and Christa and Molly, but compared to Louis the feelings are lukewarm.
The controls are SO much better in s4. I can shoot things without wanting to bash my head into the TV.
And Lilly and the Delta as the main antagonists are great. I give Lilly a lot of shit because fuck her, but even I won’t deny that she’s a good antagonist. I mean, she has to be if I hate her the way I do, right? I feel a lot more for her than I ever did for the Stranger. Same goes for Minerva and the other delta members, too.
It’s not perfect, but I still love it and it’s my personal favorite of the 4 seasons.
-
Those are some “unpopular” opinions that I can think of off the top of my head.

hey CJ since we’re getting ep4 next week, can you list all of your possible theories/predictions for episode 4 ? how the episode will start, how it will end, deaths, scenes, and what not :)
*deep inhale*
buckle in
it’s a long one
You know what I’ve noticed? We haven’t had a single walker death, have we?
Marlon killed Brody, AJ killed Marlon, Lilly killed Mitch [😭], Clementine killed Abel, Louis killed Dorian, AJ killed Lilly/ Lilly killed James, we’ve blown up who knows how many delta soldiers but…
No one has died from a walker bite or walker attack, and we haven’t had to deal with a bite victim in our group.
Which… is weird, right? Just me? All three of the previous seasons had ‘em.
S1: Girl in the motor-in, Doug/Carly, Duck, Brie, Lee
S2: Pete, Sarita, Carlos, Nick, Luke, Sarah
S3: In all of the endings, Kate, David, and Gabe [and Javi, if you count the fake-out ending] can be killed by a bite/turned into a walker. [Also Conrad can die to the walkers in one of his many deaths]
So… s4 gives us?? A bitten Abel?? But it’s determinate and he lives anyway?
This just kind of makes me think that we might get one in episode 4 since we haven’t had to deal with it. Then again, they might just be going for the whole “humanity is more dangerous than walkers” thing, but for the sake of argument…
I don’t think Clementine will be canonically bitten like Lee was. By that I mean she may get bitten if that’s what prompts one of the endings. Same thing with AJ.
I’m thinking that one of the kids might get bit, and I’ve narrowed it down to Tenn and Minerva.
Tenn because I feel he would be the most tragic and it could really show us what kind of AJ we’ve created.
Maybe AJ’s super cold and just… shoots Tenn before anyone gets to say goodbye because “what do you do when someone’s bit?” and it doesn’t really affect him all that much even tho he considered him his friend.
Or, maybe AJ’s legitimately heartbroken that his friend is bitten and doesn’t want him to die and we see our kid just… cry over his friend.
Or maybe there’s a happy [?] medium where AJ’s upset but he knows what has to be done, so he says his goodbyes, lets everyone say their goodbyes, and then whoever [most likely Clem] puts him down.
As for Minerva, if she survives the explosion, might get bit as some sort of “redemption” by saving Tenn or whoever.
Lilly / James Endings
So, I’ve already discussed the whole Lilly vs James choice in previous asks so I’ll just summarize my best guess as to what they may do as far as the outcomes. I think with this choice, we may be choosing our final antagonist.
[spare Lilly] I doubt they’ll just kill her off in the explosion because she’s fucking Lilly and the devs said they’re straying away from choice payoffs like that.
I think she’ll be “missing” as in when we wake up we may not see her [unless she is there and attacks us and we have to escape her again] and she’ll gather up any delta survivors to get revenge and possibly take AJ [assuming they’re going for the s1 parallel of kidnapping a child] and then we’ll have a final battle with her.
I’m hoping it’s by the barn so that we can bash her brains in with the salt lick like WHY ELSE WOULD THEY SHOW IT TO US??
Lemme look her in the eye while Clementine holds the salt lick over her head and say,
“Larry bled like a fucking pig, and so will you.”
Fuck Lilly jfc
[shoot Lilly] Again, I doubt if we save James that he’ll be killed off during the explosion, but we’ll get separated.
after an intense escape scene and I think we’ll meet up with some of the group [Louis/Violet, Aasim, Omar] but no one else is accounted for but there are too many walkers drawn in from the explosion to stay put and look.
Clementine might send everyone back to the school while she searches for AJ because I don’t see her just assuming that he made it back without looking. But, when we get to the school be to find that [hopefully] everyone made it back okay [more or less] except AJ and James.
Which prompts a “Oh shit, we have to go find them!”
Whether they’ll go through with the ‘kidnapping’ part of it, I dunno, since it’s been pointed out that James doesn’t really seem like the type unless it was for some extremely drastic measure.
We might have to justify our actions to him and explain why we told AJ to shoot.
I said before that part of the choice [James vs Lilly] might be to let James die a friend and thinking AJ’s saved, or prevent his death and watch him turn on us. But, I dunno. Either way’s heartbreaking.
AJ + What becomes of him
I agree with a lot of people when they say that we won’t be influencing his choices next episode and he’ll make his own decisions based on what we taught him.
This is a little worrying because I’m not the greatest parent… after all, I shoved Abel through the window, let him attack Dorian, told him to shoot Lilly…
But! I didn’t kill the walker couple [what good that’ll do I dunno], I let him know that killing Marlon was wrong, didn’t give him dibs on Abel, I didn’t torture Abel…
I’m just eager to see just how much it’ll affect how my choices shape him because I don’t want to it be just one or two things.
Deaths
Honestly, I think it’d be cool if everyone was determinate.
Imagine the combo of endings that could produce.
I’d hate it because I don’t want my kids to die, but at least if they were all determinate then I could possibly save them all, right?
Unless we get an A vs B choice again in which case PLEASE DON’T
I keep thinking of scary combos like
[save Aasim] vs. [save Ruby]
[Save Tenn] vs. [save Willy]
[save Willy] vs. [save Aasim]
[god looking at these makes me think of those fanmade ending screens that are all over reddit and I don’t like it]
I know that if they throw ANY of these at me I’ll just be stuck there, staring at the pause screen gripping my controller to the point of breaking it and trying to not scream.
Also, I list those ones because I don’t think we’ll have another [save Louis] vs. [save Violet] choice because at this point it’s a little pointless? It’s a shitty choice for the player to make but… it’d be easy, too? Depending on which route you’re doing? Like, I’m not going to pick Louis for all three episodes then suddenly be like “Nah, gotta save Vi” because???
I think my choice is pretty obvious at this point, game, c’mon.
But, if that’s not the case, I’ll list who’s most likely to die down to least likely:
Omar [sorry buddy, you’re on all our lists and I hate it]
Minerva
Tenn
Lilly/James
Willy
Aasim
Ruby
Louis/Violet [betrayed]
Louis/Violet [saved]
Clementine
AJ
Tho I hope Omar lives to the end so he can turn to the camera and flip all of us off for talking shit
Gimme that romance
I know we just took down [or did we…?] a bunch of sick delta raiders but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t get to smooch Louis again, okay?
After all this shit, I’m gonna need to see some romance with Clementine and her bf/gf [or bromoments if you friendzoned them]
Let me hug AND kiss Louis.
I think we deserve it at this point.
Also, he’s pretty messed up from shooting Dorian [OR YA KNOW LOSING HIS TONGUE]
And gimme angst with Violet. I’ll try not to get pissed off this time around since I’ve got a better understanding of her character after taking time to process it. So long as she doesn’t hurt anyone [and I doubt she will] then we’ll be fine.
Long post, but there are some of my thoughts.
Maybe once the trailer comes out I’ll have more ideas and predictions, but for now, that’s all folks.

Hi I'm thoroughly confused n I loved it but maybe not all of it but I did and I didn't and how dare they cut my mf baby's tounge out like wtf. I'm a bi mess so I obviously had two gamplays one with Lou one with Vi,,,, I'm just so ahhh. Like not that I wanted any of them to get mutilated but Vi got off so much easier and my Vi playthrough was so damn stressful like oof. I love Vi and Lou n I was upset at both outcomes tbh and just fucking Minerva oof sorry I just needed to let it out lol
so i’ve had some time to think [and like 2 hours of sleep maybe] and I think I can word my thoughts a little better? because I totally agree with you
so, when I did my playthrough of the game, i did the romance Louis choice, okay. And I haven’t watched any Violet routes [except for that one horrifying scene YOU KNOW THE ONE [wish I hadn’t really wish I hadn’t jfc]] so I don’t know all the changes to her character and what she does in all that, so I’m just going off my playthrough, okay?
I was frustrated with Violet and Minerva and that whole betrayal situation because, while I figured Vi would be pissed I didn’t save her, I didn’t think she’d go that far. It’s like she’s turned into a Kenny, kind of? You go against her once and suddenly the world is over and so is your friendship. And I felt like that was a betrayal on multiple levels.
Like, she heard Minerva admit to killing Sophie, and yet she still would still rather defend her rather than Clem, Louis, Tenn, and everyone else? Something about it just doesn’t feel right. Like it’s breaking her character to be that bitter and vindictive enough to actually try preventing our escape.
like i’ve said a few times, I don’t know if I’m more upset because this part of her character was something I never expected, or if it’s because I feel her character was a little butchered in the Louis route.
And hah speaking of my boy, I did my playthrough and I was terrified because “oh fuck they’re gonna cut off his fucking hand they can’t do that that’s the worst thing they could do” and so, I let AJ attack and Louis is physically okay all fingers accounted for and in shock that he shot that lady who tried to cut his finger off in the first place.
so after I finished the game furious that I actually let James talk me into letting Lilly live like a dumbass, i got ready to restart to fix that final choice, right. But, not before looking up what happens in alternate routes.
Um.
to quote myself from an earlier post:
“not all the middle fingers in the world could make up the amount of “FUCK YOU” I feel for what happens to Louis in the Violet route.”
Let’s break this down:
You save Louis: Violet’s pissed, won’t talk to you, betrays you by trying to prevent your escape but overall is physically fine
You save Violet: LOUIS GET’S HIS FUCKING TONGUE CUT OUT IN THE MOST TRAUMATIC WAY POSSIBLE THAT WHEN HE SEES CLEM HE’S SO FUCKING HAPPY TO SEE HER THAT HE HUGS HER, FUCKING BREAKS DOWN SOBBING IN HER ARMS AND ACTUALLY SMILES AT HER HE FUCKING SMILES AT HER ARE YOU KIDDING??????? AND WHEN LILY SHOWS UP??? HE FUCKING COWERS IN THE CORNER TRYING TO SPEAK BUT HE CAN’T BECAUSE HE HAS. NO. TONGUE.
now maybe it’s just me but doesn’t something just seem off? a little uneven???
And the part that pisses me off the most is that it kind of feels like that game is giving us these two outcomes like a “this one is right and this one is wrong” sort of deal.
If you save Louis, depending on your choices, literally no in your group dies, no one is disfigured or mutilated. Vi’s pissed but she’s fine. Sure, they’re MIA but as far as we know, they’re fine.
But, if you save Violet, no matter what you do, no matter your choices, Louis always gets mutilated. There’s nothing you can do to prevent that except to restart chapter two and save him during the raider attack.
How fucked up is that?
Why would they do that?
I’ve never done or really seen the Violet route, and now I never will because not only has my opinion and respect for her been tarnished, but I’m not going to let that happen to Louis. Nope. Never.
And now, my view of the game is kind of twisted. Before I always picked Louis but I knew the Violet route was just as good. I don’t think that anymore.
And that isn’t fair. It’s not fair to the those who love Violet and who love her and Clem together but also love Louis, because there’s nothing you can do to save him when you pick Violet.
And that has got to be one of the most frustrating things about this episode.
Now, we don’t know what ep4 has in store. Perhaps something will happen to Violet physically, like what everyone predicting with her eye, to “balance things out”
But
nothing is going to balance that shit out. I’m sorry, but what happens to Louis is one of the worst things that a human could do to another.
you can’t save him in the Violet route
and nothing you do to Violet will “balance” that out.
So, to wrap up this rant that you totally didn’t ask for anon:
episode 3 has killed me and I’m not letting anyone lay a single finger on Louis
I hope maybe Violet gets redemption, but I don’t know. And, I wanna clarify, I don’t hate Violet, I guess I’m just disappointed with where her character went in my playthrough.
Also my little rant might make it sound like I hated the episode, which is totally not true. There were a lot of things I loved, it’s just this one thing that’s not even going to affect my playthrough but… even so, just knowing that it can happen, that it will happen in other playthroughs really fucks me up.
anyway
rant over
