I was thinking the other day about how often biblical stories imply that any sort of species can be started with just one and one female of the species, and sells this as the correct (maybe only correct) way to start things. Like Adam and Eve, they're supposed to be the starters of humanity, one (presumably young) male and one again, presumably young woman.

It repeats again with Noah's ark, where two animals of each species are collected, one male and one female, so they could all 'start their species anew'. Noah's family also is presumed to be the regular, one male + one woman, enough to re-start the humanity.

I understand that these stories were written to establish and force the idea of nuclear family being necessary, good and the start of everything, and if you don't think further than 'oh yeah one male and one woman are capable of making a baby' and you stop thinking there, you might be sold with these stories. But if you think about it for a second further, the implications of this are absolutely atrocious.

One young male and a young woman, are never accompanied by their parents or their grandparents in the stories. They're purposely isolated from their families, or are presumed to not even have family, which means none of them has any support, anyone to go to for advice or help, nobody to rely on to do the massive amount of labour of having and raising even one child. This is already where it falls apart, two young people do not have the knowledge, experience or wisdom to raise a small child, alone. They need their mothers, they need their grandmothers, they need elders and community in order to be able to function - first of all tell me who is delivering that baby they're having? Where is her midwife? It's never mentioned how she gets through childbirth in those stories, apparently she just 'figures it out', while in reality birth is dangerous, and women need both emotional and physical support during labour. There's nobody in this story who knows how to deliver the child safely, or how to save one or both of them should the things go wrong. They both have a chance of dying and then the species is dead. This is all ignored and pretended not to be an issue.

So next in the story we're led to believe that these two young people have made a (mistake) baby and are raising it alone and this is fine. Even funnier is that they often first have a male baby, as an effort to repopulate their species, I mean yeah thats gonna do you a lot of good for sure. Two young people of the opposite sex, without any elders, community, family or support, have one significant power imbalance - the male will usually be physically more powerful, while the woman will be more intelligent, resourceful, adaptive, thoughtful, resilient, and infinitely more vulnerable during the times of labour. It has been shown again and again, that in these circumstances, males do not find it appropriate to protect and treasure the women, but they use their physical advantage to overpower and control her, and her reproductive abilities. But in the stories this is 'fine' because she should 'listen' to this dumber, bigger, less intelligent, more aggressive, more demanding, more exploitative, more dangerous, less useful creature who is completely parasitic and depending on her kindness, intelligence, ability to make food, reproductive abilities and sense of forgiveness of his crimes towards her, to survive. Women are apparently just supposed to be hosts for parasitic males, while isolated, not given a way to overpower him except poison, which is then again depicted as 'bad' because she should just resign to live in servitude to the creature if she wants to prove that she is 'good'. This is bullshit.

Let's look at the next stage, where even more disasters await us. So they raised their child, or children, who have only had these two people to look up to, so they've likely picked up the patterns of 'male is to be served or violence happens, women need to keep their head down and obey or the violence happens', and now the children are supposed to repopulate the species. With? whom? This concept relies entirely on incest? With children who have been raised on learning the massive power imbalance? We're supposed to have sisters accept sexual slavery from their brothers at this point, if we want to have a species of humans? The bible is promoting this?

The bible at this point realizes they've fucked up and write down 'well the sons just went to the nearest village to find girlfriends' OH YOU NEED A VILLAGE NOW DON'T YOU? Now you remembered that actually no, you will now rebuild a species without just one male and one woman and in fact, villages are necessary, and your story leads straight into incest and sexual slavery of women. Presumably the women in the village have whole families and not just two people put in this unnatural position of parasitism and power imbalance. But we don't know, we're supposed to remember 'one male + one woman is correct and nothing else is okay', when the concept is fucked up from the starts and they eventually cave and introduce a village, but do it casually like it doesn't really matter and the story totally wouldn't end up in forced incestuous pregnancies and making a mess of human gene pool.

It was so important for the bible to establish, and re-establish this concept because that is the only way for males to be able to isolate, use and control young women. The concept where women don't have their own mothers, grandmothers, sisters, aunts, families, friends, and villages to protect them from abuse, that is the only scenario where one male can sit on his butt, call himself the 'provider' and then raise his voice and his hand whenever she doesn't do exactly as he says. It's disgusting, and there's nowhere else this can go except abuse. Males will never be unwilling to use their physical advantage to hurt and control women, and we've watched it for centuries, they were more willing to kill women than to accept that we have the right to vote,, the right to divorce them, the right to abort at will (they're still more willing to kill us than to accept this right). No woman is safe in an union with one male, without her family, friends, and a network of support. To live her entire life normally, she needs to rely on the knowledge, experience and wisdom of her elders, so she wouldn't have to do everything alone, and learn everything alone. Male, in return, usually learns all the tactics of manipulating and isolating a woman and will use those, so she needs to be ready and have strategies to defend herself, to be able to escape if it comes to that.

And sometimes, even when the woman has all the support in the world, the male still ends up killing her, because he gets a chance to do it, and it's always at the distraught and horror of everyone who loved her.

Thinking back, the concept of nuclear family had to be invented because males didn't feel like they were able to control the women enough. They likely needed to establish this because they noticed that women were able to go on uncontrolled, they were too 'free', too supported, too resourceful to just trap and control. They needed to convince women that the right thing to do was be alone with one male person who just happens to be stronger and that in fact, not doing so is dangerous and wrong. The concept of nuclear family put the control right in their hands where they wanted it, and it's still ongoing, and we're sick of it. It's a trap.

If you don't believe these stories have influenced our views, think about how males sometimes dream up concepts where they're the 'only male left on the planet', in company of the woman who they're interested in. They relish in these fantasies because they believe in that scenario, they're entitled to rape her. She isn't entitled to resist because then she's responsible for the downfall of humanity, for not repopulating the species, and they feel that this responsibility has to fall so heavy on the woman's shoulders that she will not possibly try to resist him. Women still do, women say right away that if they were the last one, they'd kill themselves instantly. Because we know and understand there's no repopulating the planet with just male and one female. There's just female sexual slavery and incest.

Possibly even the story of Adam and Eve is just a fantasy concept of one male who looked at a woman who was able to say no to him, and thought 'well, what if we were the only humans existing. How would she be able to refuse me then'. And he realized she couldn't. So he wrote it down and sold it as the ideal utopia created by god himself. Hi~ Hope you have a lovely day. I want to get your opinions on my rant lol and ask.

Marinette is such a disappointment of a lead female character in a western magical girl cartoon. She isn't a good leader and all her team consist of yes men and women and sidekick Chat Noir where her real partner Alya is standing over to the side. I liked her in the first two season and maybe some in s3 but the s4 and onward just got to me ngl. It's her world and we're all just living in it. Miraculous is so weird when it comes to team dynamics because I get she's guardian but I really wished it were someone else and not her because she chooses people she already get along great with. It fun for team dynamics to add be different and broader.

The whole she's just 14 the fandom spouts only goes so far how many messes do you do until you realise you need to own up to them even at that age when you should know better on your conduct ?

I get it hard to communicate but onwards I always thought the bigger of the two in the conflict was her because of her secrecy and her controlling tendencies. I disliked it so much in the ephemeral episode and her betraying her partner disgusted me. Sorry to those who like or defend her character this much but I can't stan or like a character that does this much crap to a friend let alone a love interest and then gloss over or minimize it and not be called out for it. Like, are people standards that low they think she's a good leader or a good proper representation on feminism when this show reeks of misogyny and misandry. She's the ultimatum voice for Astruc.

A communication issue with her Chat was fine a long time ago but now in s5 she crossed it hell nah how do people still support a ship with her knowing she followed Hawkmoth command for Adrien. I literally can't anymore with this show. Every guy she likes gotta be so 100 percent in effort and like in the Shadybug special him always comforting her makes me so jaded whenever she cries what about a change in dynamics had we ever seen her comfort him in turn how are people invested in this ship? Like that time in the bench and she just thought of ways to woo or give presents instead of just comforting him is so sad to watch.

She really followed in Master Fu steps. The bar is in hell and she crossed it in the finale. There is no excuse no handwaving it away and i know in my heart they gonna minimize it for Adrien own good. Everything is for his own good huh? What good is it rooting for a ship that just reeks of pity points. Like, she was never my favorite but who knew 8 years ago she'd pull a stunt like this and people bending over and doing mental gymnastics to rationalise this insanity. She really is a good foil to Gabriel ironically to bad she has no sway in this family drama we call the Agreste.

I know she has good intentions and it's not wrong for her to wish to save her prince but like thats all that is intention. Her actions are also important and the effects she's done is so bad that if she weren't the Main character and we haven't spent the chunk of the majority in her pov alone she'd be disliked.

I feel like compared to other respective series Winx Club s1-3 Bloom, Danny Phantom, Ben 10, Totally Spies they have it much more harder and so many more all show the consequences of your actions and how you do them right and they're her age. I feel like whenever someone bring up consequences it's like people in this particular fandom think we do it to punish Marinette but no I just never ever saw it properly done in this show because she's very coddled in the narrative. I don't see other MC as coddled as her before in a show where when they MESS UP it's actually integral and important.

You encapsulated all my thoughts perfectly, anon. I've said so many times before that I loved Marinette from Season 1-3 and even during Season 4 as it aired. What made me fall out of love with her character post Season 4 was the utter lack of acknowledgement of her actions and the insistence in portraying her as in the right at all times. Like you said, it's not just your intentions that matter. Your actions and the effects that they have on the people around you also matter. The writers don't seem to understand this, and it hits Marinette's character worst of all. She had so much potential to be such a great character, which is why I feel so sad seeing just how badly the writing failed her. Marinette deserved better.

i am still so frazzled by the 2.1 quest right now so all i have to offer are my most incoherent of thoughts i apologise. by incoherent i mean

(1) diagram about rain & clothes -- trying to break down why their one interaction scared me so fucking much. do not expect to understand this without miracle but you can look at it anyway. something something regarding fate/luck. plus the inevitability of harmony is something we see particularly upset aventurine ("either choice, same outcome"). the fairness of the game. also yeah im reading a lot into the way aven's boss fucks over harmony supports.

(2) something something family. "do you love your family more than yourself?" sunday asks aventurine and in a way he's referring to (a) aventurine's own themes of family (b) robin (c) The Family (capitalised)

(a) is interesting because i'm considering particularly how he imbues in himself values from the <family> he encounters. "never resent the pain or suffering you're going through" / how he regards his luck etc. but also more horrifyingly the "all or nothing" from the [indifferent male], jade's way of thinking (she also calls him "child"). (b) sunday's caring for robin is odd too. if you've seen the harmony tb splash art i'd say look at the two birds in the picture. and the amalgamation of Family (c) in the shape of gallagher calls sunday brother. i think there's an overlap here re: the horror of family. thinking about sunday's letters... but the way they choose to engage with it is fundamentally little different.

(3) sunday's little dollhouse down to the particulars re landscape but the Nature of the people being so absurd. toys. the puzzles! him shrinking aventurine & the "rat / maze" use of words later in the quest. all the puzzles in penacony / hanu for example to do with shrinking/being in miniature...

aventurine -- how untouchable can you make yourself when you appropriate anything bad thats happened to you as part of your own self. and you clothe yourself in ways that defy the hand fate dealt you. "inherently unjust destiny". do you see how fucked it is when shrinking comes in here. but ratio mentions that aventurine and sunday think alike. i'm really looking forward to see where they go with sunday's impulse for control in later patches.

(4) sunday saying he needs a *servant* after harmonypilling aven. jade: "as a servant you should not disobey your master. yet you went and killed that man anyway." aventurine needs to also regard himself as an agent. argh. they prod at each other in interesting ways.

i think the cschlatt transfem throughline is, again, soso easy to read theres sm to dig into and chew on. i'm genuinely bewildered it's not smthng ppl hve picked up on more because it seems so v clear to me.

guy refuses to accept help bcs he sees it as weakness makes it v clear his narrative lesson is -> he should allow himself support and compassion w/o recoiling, because he's allowed to want it and need it, w/o masking it in disgust or irony.

on that point, guy refuses to see himself as disabled despite having very very blatent disabilities that leave him in horror of himself -> a panicked assertion of power to take back "control". ok ,what is he in "control" of, what can he wield, what can he have a narrative over.

guy likes being called a pretty princess and wears dresses "as a joke", using that same irony coated sheen he uses w a Lot of the things he's afraid of being more earnest in, like his care for other people or his wants. he likes being wined and dined and cooed at, and then reacts to "feminine" things, the possibility of being "not a man", in the same wild rejection as the other two, the rejection of the body. a real man doesn't care if he's betrayed, that's why he takes it so personally. a real man doesn't care abt sm partner, who needs 'em, and thats why the bow shot becomes a canon death that he feels personally heartbroken abt. a real man isn't scared and panicked and a real man isn't disabled and isn't needy. and he definitely isn't afraid. and he doesn't like the dresses. -> well. yknow how it is.

even the gym...we don't know his limbo specifically but i think it's pretty easy to infer that the gym is at least partially a manifestation of it? ghosts are confirmed to be able to be tied to locations, like mexican dream w el rapids. and in his, he has that "control", surrounded by that ideal figure, here he's powerful and on top and sooooo intouchable. the mask worked. and it doesn't actually because it still doesn't match up w how he acts. a "real man" doesn't need anything, doesn't care about anything, and glatt is still still still so deeply needy and clingy and longing for connection, and still tries to mask it w things like "spanish lessons" and "horror mansions" tht end up just being an excuse to throw little parties in. uuwgh. who even ca(blows up 320 walls with my mind)

additionally ppl forget that limbo is supposed t like..not actually be hell lmao? it's torturous for sure but it isn't like. supposed to represent their worse nightmare? it's supposed to, i think, represent a state of being unable to move on. the train that won't ever pick you up. a existence of blankness where you can't feel a thing except waiting for the other shoe to drop. a gym full of idols that you will never be able to "live up to".

bcs of that schlatt is bigender (✌️) to me specifically...cuz he clearly likes Parts of masculinity. the little conman shtick, the big guy-isms. it's smthing he enjoys, but he's v clearly fearful and panicked abt the "Ideal Masculine Figure™️", the mythologized toxic version in his quest for control. the conman thing is fun and easy, and the freaked out assertion of "i'm a man, i'm not weak or scared, i'm not like them." is smthng else entirely.

(and again the symbolism WHATT the fuck was going on in the writer's room. the gym is handled like a trap that he can't get out of by himself, and being in the sun, being visible is tangibly equivalent to being burned. Fucking Excuse Me? Answer My Emails.)

So I decided to post my thoughts from AO3 about JJK and how to correct the issues i saw in the next arc. Let me know what you all think.

rant:

I didnt like how gege built up the zenin clan only to throw them away as a plot device for maki's development. I thought the story would take a different turn when megumi was named heir but it felt rushed and extremely contrived, beginning immediately with the round table decision to KILL megumi. I cannot understand why anyone backed this decision. Why would a family that values power, tradition, prestige and inherited techniques so much not just have a duel to decide the leader?

1) It retcons everything we know about the Zenin including Toji's logic for giving megumi away. He knew if megumi had a good technique the family would invest in his development… turned out megumi didn't just have a "good" technique he had THE BEST technique! Toji' concern was never that theyd kill his som but that they'd turn megumi into a POS. Gojo explictly stated that hundreds of years ago a TS and 6E user killed each other in a mock-duel and the 2 families NEVER got over it. So the idea that the zenin would kill a TS user is completely out of the question. Even IF killing Megumi served Naoya, it didnt serve anyone else and goes against the zenins principles.

2)The TS literally puts the zenin on par (or higher) to satoru gojo in terms of strength. With gojo sealed The zenin clan would jet-propel to no1 in jujutsu society, which is what the family WANTS, power and prestige.

3) Megumi canonically had a lot of supporters, so this goes back to my first point that the blowback of killing him wouldve caused mass, internal strife.

4) Maki's massacre. (Ugh...)

So my headcannon is this:

Naoya gets told he isn't gonna be heir and calls the elders to the round table. Since a large portion of the family want megumi as head, naoya issues a challenge/duel on the condition that if naoya wins, megumi becomes an official zenin member but forfeits all rights to ever become clan head (doesnt matter if its on paper or binding vow, point is megumi won't be head). This would enable naoya to stay at the helm, while also boosting the zenins prestige because they'd have the TS under their control. Having a duel would also showcase naoya's talents so he doesnt come off a glass cannon like he did when maki flattens him later to show HER overwhelming strength. This plan makes infinitely more sense to me than what the manga did because it benefits EVERYBODY. Maki wants this. Naoya wants this. And so does the entire clan, because megumi will be a zenin regardless of who wins. It also put megumi in an active role, instead of passive one.

With this simple change, we can explore the characters introduced in the hei unit, tojis backstory/life, mai and makis sisterly bond, megumis leadership acumen, And ofc this would be the perfect time for naoya to reveal the truth about toji: That Satoru gojo is the one who killed him and thats why megumj and tsumiki were alone (in an attempt to turn megumi against satoru).

This change also benefits Maki's character too because after megumi loses, she tells him not to worry because he has enough supporters to drive a split in the clan, so while he can't be head of the zenin he can be head of his OWN faction. (remember this was makis ultimate goal, to have a safe space for mai, thats why she wanted megumi as head in the first place) now I'm skipping details, but ogi catches wind of maki's coup to start a civil war within the clan and throws her in the pits for it (a MUCH better reason to kill her than taking curse tools. I mean maki has been taking curse tools for years and nobody cared!) She becomes toji 2.0 and the story continues along the lines of the canon. Maki still gets her power boost and her revenge on NAOYA's supporters instead of the entire clan so she doesnt come off as a psychopath, and megumi learns the truth. There is even room for potential redemption for naoya should megumi prevent Maki from killing him which eliminates the need for curse naoya (a colossal waste of time)

since ive been really obsessed with it I was thinkin about making a post thats like "Rhysand is like what if Count von Krolock of the tanz der vampire musical was a swagless cishet man with no self awareness who didnt even have a weird gay son" but then I was like, honestly how come neither Tamlin nor Rhysand ever had kids from their dillydallying before they met Feyre. yeah yeah I know bc fae are supposed to be borderline infertile but 1) thats not true, points towards Beron and Tamlin's Shit Dad 2) theyre both like 500 years old, even if the odds of having kids are astronomically low if they were just fucking around without protection, they would both atleast have one. And yeah, i know about the fuckin Safe Sex Tea too but idgaf about that, the worldbuilding of acotar is bland and unimaginative it makes me wanna cry, these fae should be like quiverfull family levels of weird about having and absolutely refuse the notion of birth control except it would be less horrible an damaging by virtue of them only having like 2 kids a century, if that. Also, even with the Safe Sex Tea I feel like if you knew that you were borderline infertile and you didnt have to worry about stds bc you lived in a world without actual disease, you would be wayyyyy less careful about protection during sex anyway

Anyway, sorry about that rant, I have terminal worldbuilders disease and it flares up when I encounter this kind of thoughtless bullshit, back to my initial thought of "how come those ancient horny bastards didnt have kids before Feyre" beyond the possible in-uinverse justifications of how they could have them despite the bullshit worldbuilding, it would just be interesting. and fun. Yknow, maybe not for the first book since that would maybe ruin the romance a little but from acomaf forward its like, why shouldnt they aside from the fact that sjm did not at any point stop to consider the implications of making her characters this fucking old

Oh man, speaking of sjm not considering the implications of things, given her track record of writing the contrasts/parellels between Rhysand and Tamlin, I feel like if she had actually done this she wouldve made Tamlin be like, not present in his children's life at all, he just pays them the fae equivalent of child support and maybe they exchange letters or some shit and Feyre would be like "thats so cruel and cold of him!!" but then Rhysand would tell her about his kids and he would be like "pshhh, I would never pay child support! But I give them positions of power in my court and take the boys (and girls hashtag feminism) out for a game of faeball every month" and Feyre would be like "oh, thats so much better my bestest and most handsomest highlord <3 <3" but all us Rhyshaters would forever make fun of him for it. regina's popularity comes from her looks i agree with that! but although its just an aspect which supports her popularity since if looks is the only thing which makes her popular karen and cady should also be popular because they have more chance to gain fame. so its not only her looks which gives her fame but also her minions (gretchen and karen) who supports regina to attain her power and also her bf aaron samuels who has the looks to support regina's fame! because of having these things this makes more admirable and wants to be her!! but how does she manipulate her minions to get what she wants?

gretchen "the follower" who always listens to regina and always tries to get reginas attention and thinks regina is her best friend. but infact regina knows gretchen will listen to her no matter what! so she is always be mean to gretchen and controls her so she will always listens to regina. this is preety sad since i have a soft spot for gretchen since she dosnt think about herself much and always support regina. also gretchen is very rich so this adds to her fame and social status aspect and makes gretchen join the group. and also gretchen knows about regina very well since gretchen is a "gossiper" regina only allows valid informaton about herself to be shared to the school so she uses gretchen to spread information about her.

karen is just a sidekick in my pov because although karen is a threat to regina because she is more preetier than regina but karen is known to be "dumb" and also a "slut" so this makes her unlikeable to other students so this reduces fame of karen and increases reginas fame more. but although she includes karen because she is a preety face which could support her social status. due to karen being "dumb" regina can easily manipulate karen really well.

regina uses these minions because its much easier to control them and also karen being preety and gretchen being rich adds a social ideal status to the group which makes it easy for regina to be number 1.

aaron samuels is just another hot guy in school and dating a hot guy leads to fame? idk it kinda dosnt make sense to me but this makes them the ideal couple since they both are really beautiful. and makes other people more envious of her because they think she has everything she wants (she is rich, have a hot boy , preety , a friend group who is also in that high status, popular etc..)

how to use her personality using alter ego or law of assumption

so i have told everything about the psychological process of regina george. although these traits are really manipulative and toxic but also using these things can help u get ahead of circumstances which is an advantage. i always use her personality and identify with her to get attention and so on.. so this makes it easy for me to enjoy my time and also experiment with her personality really well.

its just really simple! all u have to do is identify yourself as regina george and act like her. such as how she smile and walks and everything so if you do a little gesture of her u will start to act like her even more! and thats what it reflects! its so simple like once u start to identify it thats what is gonna happen.

u dont need to think u need glamour,hot bf and minions to get these things if you know the loa then yk its just a psychological game to get ahead. u have to think like her if its still troubling you imagine and keep persisting and be on that state again and again. even if you fall out just get back into it again. since regina george character is just an avator and we can all use her avator. just assume u are her then u are her.

s3 morgana being "beyond redemption" is soooooo crazy to me like yeah trying to kill the evil tyrant king whos been murdering every last one of your kind is sooooo evil lock her up and throw away the key!!

such a prime example of a kick the dog character too. like they cant condemn her for just fighting for her right to exist so they have her executing civilians and trying to have gwen executed to make her into the villian.

and! the same goes for morgause! literally what did she ever do wrong? uther conquered camelot (said by him in the episode where gili fights in the tournament) and then executed hundreds if not thousands of people with magic but morgause trying to kill the king is a step too far? why? its almost like the show is actually on uthers side 🤨🤨🤨🤨

which leads me to: the fact that we essentially watch the entire show through the pendragon perspective. merlin protects arthur so everything we learn about the purge and magic and the old religion is from uther/gaius. so, biased, to say the least. one of the most important things they tell you when researching history is to consider where your information is coming from and how that persons perspective influences their discussion of it.

which is why i also dont consider nimueh to be a villain. shes an activist! yeah she tried to kill arthur that one (?) time but he didnt even die so. doesnt count <3 but we SEE her having a conversation ALONE with uther where she says she didnt know what would happen to ygraine and i just cant imagine why she would lie. if she really wanted to hurt him she could have said she'd known and killed her on purpose but i dont think thats the case at all. she says she never would have helped him if she'd known what would happen. like, surprise, if you hunt and kill people for the crime of existing they will fight back and its not going to be the way you like it and innocent people will die. because thats war. you ruthlessly slaughter her people and she will slaughter yours.

worlds most unstructered post. professors hate her. anyway the show eventually starts to take on a very firm, "merlin has magic but ues not LIKE those other magic users therefore hes ok :) everyone else is evil tho. except the druids (sometimes :|)", whereby merlin using magic is only allowed if hes helping or saving arthur (except all those other times but we dont talk about those i guess) and his stance on magic eventually warps until hes just kind of horrible about it.

100% unpopular opinion but gaius should have died in s2 or 3. he influenced merlin far too much and basically never for the better. sorry to gaius lovers but i do NOT like that old man. he advises merlin EVERY time to not tell morgana about her magic (which she has no control over and therefore is manifesting in ways that will absolutely get her caught), to never help any of the unfairly persecuted people of the episode or even to use magic at all. hes a bootlicking coward who only helped people he cared for or when it suited him. how many people do you think he watched burn simply because he didnt agree with the way they used magic, whether it actually "evil" or not.

merlin's only friends who know about his magic are an old conservative man and a guy who dies right when merlin could have used the support of someone to help him "come out" to arthur about his magic.

im firmly of the opinion that had he told morgana about his magic everything would have been literally fine. because alone and with loterally no support system at all, is it any wonder that morgana would go down the road she did? after years of fear and watching people just like her be burned for the crime of existing, with no prophecy or friends to tell her that it wont always be this way. you dont have to be afraid because youre not the only one and i wont let anything happen to you. oh wait. she did get told that. by MORGAUSE. not about the prophecy but how can they be judged by trying to bring about change by themselves. by trying to kill a king whos killed so many of their own people.

if the intention of the show had been to give a poignant message about the cycle of abuse (morgana succumbing to bitterness and hatred just like uther) or how fear can control you (merlin eventually becoming essentially the bad guy, judging everybody who doesnt use magic the way he sees fit, staying silent and contributing to persecution of magic people because living in fear can make you paranoid and bitter (sound familiar?)) then i would applaud because wow did that make me fucking cry! and hit actually very close to home! and it was tragic and horrible but also inevitable

but as far as i can tell that was not at all the point, because in the end kilgharrah tells merlin the prophecy has been fulfilled, albion is united and magic returned! hurrah! but. um. did i miss something? when did that happen? oh, you mean when gwen is queen....? so.... gwen unites the land of albion and returns magic to the land? except, merlin seems to have lived on until the 21st century of our world and magic is not what i would call flourishing atm.

so i guess my question is... well actually i dont have a question. actually wait i do. what the fuck?

Not getting into the validity of actions in ep95 bec i agree with the cast. It's more complicated and both parties have valid and understandable reactions.

I think I've fallen more in love with Laudna by how human her feelings and trauma as well as the asshole whispering in her ear to push her to make some hurtful choices.

I think her case reflects many relatable human issues. There's the addiction metaphor but to me it also seems to be showing an toxic relationship (with Delilah) and mental disabilities such as anxiety, depression.

Things I found relatable:

A fractured Self esteem: I also think about the how for 30 years Delilah likely groomed her to believe theyre in an equal partnership, shes there to help her keep safe, and she's not Matilda any longer. Delilah gets angry 'matilda is dead' at the mention of her when she sees her control slipping away bec acknowledging matilda means unravelling her biggest connection to her patron.

Trauma burdeneding her is hidden. Ignored. She likely never had a chance to process. She's taken up another name to bury deep the grief of loss that she can't quite run away from because its scared deep into her body and she has become another for many other humans. A hollow one. Deflecting the conversations from desling with her grief has been a laudna thing.

Anxiety. I think she's always felt a step behind the others, she wants to be strong enough to protect Imogen and the others too (Delilah learns this is the way to manipulate her using her big Love and Trust [as Prism put it]for others).

I found it interesting that after Orym took the sword and ignored her calling out to him for his resolve scene she kind of mimicked the way he took it by doing it in secret, no talks or discussions. Some people learn by observing others and incorporate it into how they do things and possibly with extra Delilah pushing her into an isolated bad choice that accidental though it might have been it still HAS hurt her friend and caused a justified lashback (darkness, 5 pts of damage. Thats scary to wake up to.)

Her explanations are her truth but she lack the words to convey the whole truth. She is lost in her own truth and stubbornly holds on. She does have very valid points because shes always been stressed by visual reminders (her reaction being in whitestone is telling). I think she believes SHEs using Delilah bec she probably cannot face the fact she's being puppetted and Delilah is actually a parasitic entity and there is no almost symbiosis in this relationship. I think Laudna is allowed to use tricks Delilah learns but in turn her patron is then she is caging her.

Now more than ever at the height of a meltdown she needs support and she needs to hear that they need Laudna because she has this misguided idea the Bells Hells need Delilah's power. If her abuser could have 30 years to groom her, Laudna should have the chance to have time and patience to combat that heavy a burden because she has yet to be given that chance. She has tp be given the chance to want it and in her particular case theres no wanting it without support.

Talking about wilbur....(I want to talk about him because I just need to let my emotions out)

Im going to miss wilbur not being in any videos with the sorry boys and stuff…..and im serious....wilbur was the only one who helped me through alot of things. The things being: helping me accept me for who I am (my sexuality and gender identity), getting though my darkest depression days during 2022 ( 2022 was my worst year in terms of depression because my parents got divorced and I started to hate myself for stupid things like my social anxiety and autism.), helping me gain confidence in doing stuff I love (it might sound stupid but I was always so scared to show people of what I draw because I thought they would say hateful things like "thats stupid" or "thats the worst drawing I have ever seen")...

I guess on to the wilbur and shelby situation.....I mostly support wilbur, because I believe that shelby should get her fans together because they literally made FOUR wilbur fans commit suicide for this. Like you cant just ignore that people are dying out here because she's not getting her fans under control. And also shelby could be lieing because she literally showed no evidence of the bruises; she could've atleast taken pictures of the bruises; but she didn't. And also I looked at old pictures of them when they did date to see if she had any bruises on her, and she didn't. wilbur was the one who had those bruises on him not her in those pictures. And I'd like to add that wilburs "apology" wasn't suppose to be an apology anyways, it was suppose to be a statement. And I'd like to add that I was a shelby fan, and it breaks my heart that she would lie like this, but stuff like this happens.

Onto wilbur 'supposedly' biting niki. Once again she didn't show any pictures of the bruises. And you cant see a single bruise on her in old pictures of them. She also supports the girl that lied about the George situation.....in niki's recent stream of her talking about wilbur biting her she said "I never liked hanging out with him, it was the fans that were making me hangout with him" which is a total lie because look at their old dsmp/osmp streams together, You can literally see how much fun she was having, she was smiling and laughing.......im sorry niki.....I once was a huge fan of you...but..you cant just lie like that...and support a girl that lied about the George situation....

A little of topic but I hate how they changed tallulahs character design.... I fucking loved the brown hair and red beanie... And the only reason I changed her character design in my drawing of her is because so people wouldn't call me "abuser" or some shit....I might also stop watching qsmp because of wilbur being banned...because he was the one that actually got me excited to watch qsmp because he, dadza, and fit were the only one's that I found really funny. and of course thats a "might" not a 100% because dadza and fit's still on the server...their literally such an amazing duo😂/pos (but I swear if fit and/or dadza get banned for something they didn't do...then im going to start a riot...)

I love Sydney and while I do think she has the best of intentions, I don't think she is above critique: now, I think everything Sydney does to try and help Adrian out of his self destructive habits is both well intentioned and makes perfect sense for someone of her age and life experience. At her age, I probably would've done the same thing. She's perfectly written and has real reactions to Adrians self medication and mental health issues. She does give him decent advice about seeing a professional and maybe getting some kind of medication to stop his mental degradation.

That said, I think its worth noting that Sydney convincing Adrian to just quit smoking and drinking, without a different coping mechanism in place is not a good plan. I don't think it could've worked. For one thing, Sydney basically starts putting the onus of Adrians mental health on her as basically his only support system in the event he has a psychosis episode. Sydney a. Isn't trained to handle that and b. Shouldn't push Adrian into that specific kind of dependency on her. It isn't good for either of them.

Additionally, while not ideal, I've done a lot of research about trauma and comorbidities related to it, and I learned that in a very rare instance, for those suffering from psychosis, particularly people with Schizophrenia, self medication and substance abuse does actually help with keeping control for the reasons Adrian states (at least twice) in the books: if he's drunk and something weird happens, he can reason that it's being high or drunk thats causing it.

Like don't get me wrong, he absolutely should seek out professional help and get medication tailored to his needs by a doctor. However I think his spiral in book 4 and 5 is inevitable when his mainstay coping mechanisms are suddenly gone with nothing to replace them.

I really wish the last book had done this narrative justice on his mental health ( the way its presented is really strange to me, especially the ending, plus there's not nearly enough nuance at the end for how taking your meds isn't the perfect fix its always presented as in media. He should have the opportunity to try a few different methods in combination to find what works for him. It bothers me that this isn't explored in his case, lissas case or any other spirit users we meet in the series. )
