Hi Shanna! I really liked how detailed and technical ur dance ranking of twice was--as someone who has no formal dance experience, it was enlightening. Would u mind doing one for bts? Only if u want to of course :)
Hello! I have a few of these in my inbox, so yes! I will do this one for bts (but then I must stop before this becomes my blog LOL). I’ll give the same caveats I gave for Twice, though. 1) Dance is always somewhat subjective because it’s an art form. I can talk about technique, but at a certain point my favorite dancer might not be someone else’s favorite dancer because of performance quality, and 2) ALL OF BTS ARE GREAT DANCERS! You don’t become a professional performance artist without already being head and shoulders above the rest. At the end of the day, all are fantastic.
NOTE: Please don’t use my words on any other platform/to respond to the boys. I’m posting only to give some insight to their skills, not to try and critique BTS. They have dance coaches, trainers and choreographers for that. They absolutely do not need some random person on the internet telling them what they should be doing.
With that in mind, here are my personal thoughts/loose ranking of bts at dancers:
1. Jimin. Not that I’m biased. LOL but seriously, part of the reason I’m drawn to Jimin is because he’s such a fantastic performer. With dance, a lot of people think it’s just body type which can make or break a dancer. To some extent, this is true. If you aren’t born with amazing arches, turnout or flexibility, there’s only so much you can do to improve. That said, there’s a certain intrinsic performance quality which also can’t be taught. You either have it, or you don’t and Jimin has it. It’s mesmerizing to watch him on stage. He has such fantastic control when he dances; his execution of choreography is flawless, but he also puts his own spin on things without standing out too much (a bad thing, when you’re dancing as part of a group!) Jimin does have a background in contemporary/ballet,  which is different from Hobi. One of the places this is visible is in how grounded Jimin is with his transitions/how he finishes his movements. This is SUPER dorky of me lmao, but one of my favorite moves I’ve ever seen him do is this roll up from the ground at 2:05. The absolute CONTROL Jimin has; his heels don’t move an inch, which is so hard to do. Another impressive move to me was the jump Jimin did in the Dynamite dance break (1:09). Neil Haskell did this freaking move all the time on SYTYCD lmao, and it was a staple “trick” on the dance circuit for years, because it’s hard and requires a gymnast/martial arts background. LOTS of control and complicated timing. I could honestly go on for pages about Jimin’s performance quality, but I’ll stop and say one other thing. I occasionally see people praising Jimin as an amazing contemporary dancer (on par with professional contemporary dancers), and I do think it’s important to clarify Jimin diverged from that path nearly ten years ago to become an Idol dancer. Those are two very different styles of dance and although Jimin is FANTASTIC, it’s okay for him not to be the best at every single dance style! lol he’s the first one to say (because he has, while watching the black swan orchestral video) he couldn’t do some of the things professional contemporary dancers can do. (I will add though, yoongi is also right in that I have full faith Jimin COULD have done those things, had he chosen to pursue that path). ANYWAYS. I’ve rambled enough about how much I love Jimin. ONWARD!
2. Hoseok. Surprise, surprise! LOL okay, so let me start by saying out of all BTS, Hoseok is what I consider the smartest dancer. What I mean by that is, the man never burns out. He knows when to conserve his energy and when to go all out. Hoseok is the master of rise and fall in intensity, and there’s a reason he’s highly regarded by all dancers in the industry. Hoseok also seems to have a choreographer’s mind, whereas you don’t see this as much with Jimin. To clarify, being a dancer and being a choreographer are two separate things. It’s like being a soccer player versus being a coach. Being a choreographer requires a big-picture mentality not all dancers have. Hoseok has this though, and you can see this in the natural leadership role he takes whenever they’re rehearsing on their own. He sees mistakes, fixes transitions, etc. (it’s hot, but I digress). Hoseok has a background in various styles of hip-hop, which is really clear when he freestyles. He’s demonstrated popping, tutting, locking and more, which you really only learn through rigorous hip-hop training. His MMA 2019 solo is WILD because he showcases like, five different styles all within a minute. They’re all sub-genres of a genre (hip-hop), if that makes sense. He doesn’t have the same contemporary background as Jimin, which is somewhat apparent whenever BTS leans into more contemporary styles (spring day, black swan, etc). Hobi is good, don’t get me wrong, but his spot isn’t as natural, he’s not as flexible and sometimes you see him overthinking movements. But anyways, Hoseok fancams are the BEST. Go watch one today.
3. Jungkook. Jungkook has improved SO. MUCH. Y’ALL. I can’t stress this enough! A lot of BTS fans probably remember Big Hit sent Jungkook to LA for a few months prior to debut to get him to loosen up in his dancing/improve his performance quality, and boy did he ever. Overall, I think Jungkook’s biggest strengths are his 1) endless stamina (wtf lol) and 2) lately, performance quality. When I’m talking about stamina, I mean Jungkook always goes full-fucking-out in performances and it catches the audience’s eye. One example which comes to mind was during MMA 2019 Dionysus. If you start at like, 2:10, BTS does this really exhausting floor part and then you see everyone around him conserving their energy as they move into the next chorus. It’s supposed to be a breather in the choreo lmao but Jungkook is FULL OUT. It’s his intensity and strength which really makes him stand out as a dancer. If I had written this a year ago, I would’ve said Jungkook’s biggest weakness is contemporary dance. The flip side of the coin to being strong is it can be difficult to slow things down and display the same intensity with slower music. Then, he went and did Black Swan. Like... just watch this spring day performance and contrast it with this black swan one for jungkook. He has gotten SO MUCH BETTER at staying grounded, moving through his transitions, instead of rushing past them to get to the next step. I’m just really proud of him. I still think hobi + jimin have a leg up on him, but Jungkook is a close third.
4. Taehyung. When you get to Taehyung + Yoongi, things start to get blurry. But since this is a list of my personal preferences, I’m going to put Taehyung first because for me, performance is everything. In my opinion, Taehyung’s performance quality is second only to Jimin. More immature dancers will often refer to performance as “making faces.” I.e., purse your lips on count five, smile on count 8 and frown on count 1. A mature dancer though, knows dancing is really an extension of acting. You need to embody the emotions of the song and convey them to your audience, and not just through your facial expressions! I think Tae does a really great job of this, and I’ll often watch his fancams, even though his dance technique isn’t as strong as say, Jimin or Hobi. That’s Taehyung’s main weakness, in my opinion. If he’d started dancing at an earlier age, or taken ballet/contemporary.... lord, idk LOL. help us all.
5. Yoongi. THIS MAN! Used to be a b-boy and the background is crystal clear if you’ve ever watched a Yoongi fancam (and if you haven’t, what are you doing with your life?) There’s an effortless quality to his movement and, when he wants to, his strength + performance quality rival Jungkook or Taehyung. That said, I think the main reason I’m not ranking Yoongi above them is consistency. Yoongi, simply put, isn’t a dancer. He’s a rapper/producer who likes to dance and enjoys dancing as part of BTS. I’m not saying he doesn’t like it, but it’s not his main passion, unlike some of the others. His intensity can vary depending on his visibility, which again, isn’t a bad thing. When Yoongi does turn it on, he turns it ON. He’s also very comfortable onstage, which is important. Yoongi doesn’t hesitate in his improv (esp. in his solos or rap line performances), which gives his stage quality a more natural ease.
6/7. Namjoon + Seokjin. I honestly don’t know who I would put as seventh; it’s hard to pick. And again, I don’t consider either of them to be bad dancers. It’s just when you have a group of people and some have prior dance experience/a strong passion for dance, and some don’t... it is what it is! I will say I think both Seokjin and Namjoon have grown tremendously over the past years. They’ve become so much more comfortable onstage, and it really shows in their performance quality. Sometimes, being confident you won’t look stupid is half the battle LOL. The other thing I’ll say is their execution of choreography is always down pat. You’ll rarely see either one messing up the steps, which means they practice a LOT. Sure, there are areas where their technique could be improved. Quality of transitions, staying grounded through difficult moves, always using their spot on turns... but I think it’s amazing that, despite their lack of formal dance training, they both keep up with some of the above dancers. Like... fuck it up, guys.
and that’s all! thank you for reading if you made it this far LOL WOO, BTS!

With the Creature Collection for Scarred Lands 5e Kickstarter funded and scuttling along, and the Deviant: The Renegades Kickstarter starting this Thursday, we will actually have two KSs running at once for most of their duration.
To be fair, the Creature Collection KS is being run by our friends at Handiworks Games (who also created this gorgeous book of monsters), but it is on our new KS site. Deviant will be run on our long-time KS site with my name on it, and ably run by our own Kickstarter Concierge, James Bell.
As to the whys and wherefores, well, for a while we’ve struggled with a limitation that we can’t run more than one campaign at a time on a single KS site. There’ve been times that we had two very different sorts of projects that we didn’t think would overlap much audience-wise, but one had to wait for the other. So I started looking for options.
Aeon Aexpansion art by Grzegorz Pedrycz
One direction – that we’re still looking at – is to go with a different crowd-funding site. The biggest drawback? They aren’t Kickstarter, so our established audience would need to jump to the new platform. Additionally, we too would have to adapt and adopt a new platform’s processes and quirks.
So we keep looking.
(Another option is to move to pre-orders, which we as a company have not dabbled in, but which I am all too aware of since the many years of White Wolf pre-orders and other traditional sales methods. They work, but I sure feel like we’d be losing a lot of the fun that a KS brings to our interactions with our community. Might give one a try, though).
Meanwhile, I set up a new KS account specifically designed as Onyx Path‘s account, not mine. I gotta tell you, with all the internet harassment out there, I’ve gotten a fair bit just by having my name and picture and bio on that site. Plus, with our delightful KS Concierge James Bell running them now, it can get a tad confusing as to who folks are talking to.
We’re still expecting that it’ll be a longer road to get folks used to the Rich Thomas KS account over to the Onyx Path one – but I think it’s a shorter road than trying to get folks to jump to another whole platform. Plus, the original Scarred Lands Players Guides KS wasn’t run by us anyway, it was run by the late Stewart Wieck as his company and Onyx Path co-owned Scarred Lands at that time.
My thinking was that we were going to have to ask that earlier group of backers to find a new site anyway, why not have them go to our new one and give it a try?
Dark Eras2 art by Brian LeBlanc
Like I mentioned above, we’re also looking at two very different projects. Creature Collection is a great monster book overall, but very much geared to the fantasy genre, Scarred Lands, and 5e with all the twenty-sided rolls to hit and all.
Deviant: The Renegades is the very latest Chronicles of Darkness game line, a gritty world where you seek revenge on those who made you into something… else. It uses the 10-sided dice pool system all of the Chronicles of Darkness lines do, and is a complete game unto itself.
Of course, we’d love it if our audience would completely overlap both these and pledge for them both – that’d be great! But our expectation is that there won’t be much of a mix and one part of our Many Worlds, One Path community will back one KS, and another will back the other.
Creature Collection is also set up to have a different KS experience, with the biggest chunk of the book already finished – I mean laid out and everything – but one of the fun parts of the KS is to have backers pledge for rewards that allow them to add monsters, and for monsters to be added after Stretch Goals are achieved. So more pledges, bigger book!
Deviant is set up as most of our recent KSs have been, and backers can expect to have the full text released to them as the weeks go by. Art and layout are still mostly in the future, but everyone can see exactly what this new game is all about by the end of the KS. Stretch Goals will be mostly for new projects to add to the fun of playing Deviant!
So c’mon and check them out – in their own ways, each is a really excellent book, with a fun KS to get it started!
VtR2 Spilled Blood art by Michele Giorgi
In the Monday Meeting today, we also talked about a new project that is being offered for free on DTRPG. No, it’s not one of ours, it’s Consent in Gaming from Monte Cook Games, written by Shanna Germain and Sean K. Reynolds. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/288535 Basically, it’s a book of advice on how to make sure that scary, disturbing, or freaky events during TTRPG sessions don’t actually mess up the players.
That’s it.
Part of the advice is a handy worksheet that has lists of possible things that might cause issues with the players that each player can go through and check off, with blank spaces to fill in things that you might have a hard time dealing with personally that aren’t on the pre-printed lists. The sheets are tools to be used, like several others like the X-Card that are now available for groups to use for their sessions if they choose to use them.
Judging by the commentary where this product is being discussed, Monte Cook is going to personally come to your group’s gaming session and put a gun the the heads of your gaming friends, and force everyone to fill out these forms. Nope. That’s obviously not going to happen, nor is anyone being forced to implement this tool, or any of the others, around their group’s table.
At the end of the day, these sorts of tools are designed to help players have better gaming experiences, and can be really helpful in assisting players who have previously had bad experiences to come back and give our hobby another chance. We want more people enjoying our hobby, contributing to it, and from my perspective, buying more books and games and stuff so that our creators can make more books and games and stuff.
Let’s not protest things designed to bring more people to our:

Our Creature Collection Kickstarter for Scarred Lands 5e went live last week, funded, and is advancing on creepy-crawly legs towards the first Stretch Goal to add more monsters – that the backers vote on – to the book! This book was designed with amazing art by our friends at Handiwork Games, and they’ll be running the Kickstarter for us on our brand-new Onyx Path Kickstarter page!

Today’s Reason to Celebrate!
Eight years ago today, Vampire 20th Anniversary Edition was released at the Grand Masquerade in New Orleans! Wow, a lot of stuff has happened since then with Vampire! Not to mention the rest of the White Wolf game lines, as well as this little not-so-old company of ours. Why it seems simultaneously both yesterday and a million years ago since I sat in the auditorium signing copies of V20 as the line stretched around the room and out of the door.

"Miss You" by Sweetbox. Somewhat inspired by how one of the Buffy writers said that she thought one of the reasons Buffy and Angel really resonated with people in season three, was how even though they truly loved each other, that still wasn't enough to make it work for them. And sometimes that is the case with real life relationships too, of course.

For @palizinhas. Based on that one time that you were requesting songs to make gifsets for and I suggested "Kill You Goodnight," but you couldn't easily make out the lyrics in this song (and the lyrics weren't posted anywhere online that we could see)--which was totally cool; honestly, I sometimes have a hard time with understanding some of them, myself--but I thought I'd turn the tables and make something with that song for you, for funsies. Hope you like it!
If anyone's curious, here's the song this picture post is based on:
youtube
I first heard it in this fan-made video based on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic "Fray" (it's, like, at the end of that video).

Sora's Birthday 2024/KH's 22nd Anniversary
Like the title says: a video I made for those things (and also March Caprice). I hope you guys like it: a celebration of KH and our Sunshine Sun on this special day, to help get us through until we hopefully get some news at Summer Games Fest or something. LOL
Oh! And though it might be hard to see (because it goes by so fast and that kind of thing... there is a clip of Terra in this: he's on the split screen with Axel).
The song is "Never Stop" by SafetySuit.

SoKai Day 2023: You Found Me by Play
What it says on the tin: a video I made for SoKai Day 2023.
A song I loved as a little girl--and one I always thought really fit SoKai, and have sort of always wanted to vid them to (since there's talk of the singer being found by her love interest, light, "truth is the 'key,'" etc.).
Though, obviously, I feel like this song has some sexual tones to it. But I clearly didn't want to do that with SoKai, so I tried to turn those tones into things like sharing the paopu, Kairi knowing Sora had a crush on her, Kairi keeping him from fading away, Kai giving him Sor her lucky charm twice... Kairi knowing that the couple that travels together stays together (like even Sora seems to note at the end of Re:Mind), etc.
I probably could have added more coloring and other stuff to this (and rendered this one more time, to make sure the Another Side, Another Story clip was the same size as everything else), but to be honest... I think I'm just ready to upload this, since it's already late. And since I'm worried that if I render this a fourth time, the quality might drop. So I hope no one minds that I didn't do one more edit of the overall video and then one more render for it, and that all SoKai fans enjoy this.
Happy late SoKai Day!

"Shielding Kairi, Sora fought through the Heartless in the Second District, and they ran into the secret waterway." - Kingdom Hearts 1 novel page 238. Based on the game by Tetsuya Nomura. Novel written by Tomoco Kanemaki.
So, I already did one thing based on this scene (the part where they hold hands in this segment)
, but I thought I'd do another one because Sora protecting Kairi is super cute, too. And because the one I made of Sora and Kairi holding hands didn't completely satisfy me. Hope you guys enjoy! (And if you all can't tell, I'm starting to do a thing where I make manips of the SoKai moments in the novels that aren't in the games).
I decided to have SoKai "balling their fists here" instead of Sora wielding his Keyblade so they would have nice, expressive faces. I feel like in KH1 a lot of the time when Sora had the Keyblade he had fish face. -shrugs- (Just imagine that he's about to summon Kingdom Key. LOL) Also, Sora's hair is very dark here. I know (it had to be to try and match the coloring of Kairi and secret water way image). I guess this is way back when Sora had chocolate brown hair in KH1, before they later changed it to a lighter color;)

Blood Moon
Summary: In season three, Snyder once again enlists Buffy's help in taking kids trick-or-treating for Halloween. Buffy, this time, decides to dress up as Sailor Moon. In needing sometime to unwind before spending some time with the munchkins that night, Buffy stops by the mansion to see her favorite vampire. Thinking she looks pretty cute as Sailor Moon, and that Angel might appreciate the sight, she shouts, "Happy birthday!" to him as she bursts into the place... not knowing that Halloween is actually Angel's birthday, and this is how she's about to find that out. Based on "Buffy The Last Vampire Slayer" listing Halloween as Angel's canon birthday.
"Happy birthday, Angel," Buffy said somewhat shyly, as she strolled into Angel’s mansion in a Sailor Moon costume. Truth be told? As far as Buffy knew, it wasn't actually Angel's birthday. She had no idea when that day was, unfortunately—as there were still some things from his human life that he wasn't comfortable discussing. But she thought that Angel might, in some capacity, enjoy seeing her dressed in such a way, which was why she was saying the turn of phrase.
The actual day was Halloween, hence why Buffy was dressed up (and she'd chosen Sailor Moon for a few reasons. One, because a cute little girl who she had rescued at a comic book store had said that Buffy reminded her of Sailor Moon (1), which had then gotten Buffy to research the manga and to come to the same conclusion herself. And two, because on the off-chance they got turned into their costumes again this year, she wanted a superhero who could always handle things at the end of the day).
Anyway… Buffy was definitely hoping that Angel would think she looked cute like this, hence her lame "happy birthday" comment, to give her something to enjoy before she was once more under Snyder’s scrutiny in a few hours. But as Angel seemed to look at her with puzzlement in his eyes and nothing more, she was very much starting to regret the whole thing.
"How-how'd you know?" Angel gasped, after he'd blinked at the Slayer a few times.
And Buffy was about to ask “how she knew what?” When it suddenly dawned on her what Angel's question must have meant. She gasped, as she all but tackled him into the couch. He had been standing in the center of the room to hug her, no doubt, but now in her enthusiasm, Buffy was pretty much straddling him atop the sofa in his living room. "Angel, you’re saying Halloween is your actual birthday? Why didn't you ever tell me?!"
Suddenly, Buffy felt heartbroken that she had nothing to give Angel on his actual birthday here. Nothing but her love. Sure, she could give him a late birthday present, but it wouldn’t entirely be the same.
Buffy was about to berate Angel, for letting things become uneven between them this way (where he would be a better boyfriend than she a good girlfriend, since his birthday presents to her would be on time), when Buffy noticed just how intently he was looking at her.
“And you’re really debating telling me something heavy here, aren’t you?” Buffy surmised.
And Angel laughed once at that. And had smiling eyes for just a moment—even going as far as to calling Buffy the “Champion of Love and Justice, indeed--before he seemed to settle back into his despair. “It wasn’t because I thought birthdays were irrelevant after becoming a vampire that I didn’t tell you, Buffy. Please understand that. It wasn’t even the clichéd idea that we vampires moreso celebrate the dates we were sired…
"Though celebrating birthdays for hundreds of years can get confusing and tedious," Angel seemed to add as an afterthought.
"Though that's still not the main reason you left me in the dark?" Buffy asked, drawing circles on Angel’s red, silk shirt with her index finger. She wondered if it had to do with his birthday being on Halloween: the day demons never went out on, because they hated how commercial everything had become. Had Angelus feared everyone would think he was somehow commercial, if they knew when his birthday was?
Sighing heavily, and looking everywhere but at Buffy, Angel admitted in a voice that was small and very out of place for him, "Once my father had deemed me a disappointment in his eyes, he said it was only fitting I'd been born on Halloween, the devil's day and all that… and he was right."
Buffy knew she must have heard wrong. She had to have. Because while she knew that there hadn’t exactly been any love lost between Angel and his father, for a parent to still say that to their child… Even in much harder times, Buffy couldn’t make sense of it in the slightest.
And even Angel himself! Buffy knew that he could brood with the best of them, but he was working so hard for redemption and to prove that he was worth something. Even on his worst days, how could he ever believe something like that about himself? Buffy wanted to believe that he didn’t. But taking one look at how he was so still now, that Buffy knew could actually be the sign of an anxiety attack, she knew it was the truth.
"Angel, that's horrible! I can't believe your father would say that to you! He's dead wrong! He's always been dead wrong about it!"
"How can you say that, Buffy?" Angel countered, turning beaten, tortured eyes onto her. "Look at what I ended up doing to them. He must have-"
While Buffy had gone to just laying on top of Angel before, she was once again straddling him now, and leaning above him so she could peer directly into his eyes. Running a gentle hand over his face as she tried to sooth him, the Slayer whispered the following—as a warm glow from the fireplace settled on the both of them, "Don't you dare tell me he must have somehow seen the future and known you would become Angelus, Angel. That's just impossible. He was being abusive towards you. And you're taking something a demon did, that you're making up for every day, to try and justify those unfair words spoken to a child.
"From now on, we are going to celebrate your birthday on Halloween. And aside from this Sailor Moon costume that I'm totally wearing for you and not because I got roped into taking kids trick-or-treating by Snyder again, notwithstanding… what would you like for said birthday?"
It was clear that Angel was thinking about it—whilst he squeezed Buffy’s hip tightly and seemed to purposely smooth a careful kiss onto the little crescent moon that was on one of her red choker--but the moment that Angel got a guilty look into his eyes, Buffy knew what her vamp was going to try and articulate here. Before he could, Buffy pulled away from him the slightest bit and snapped, "And don't dare say you don't deserve anything from me because of last year, when you weren’t yourself. Or that I give you enough already, as sweet as that would be."
Angel laughed for Buffy’s sassiness for just a moment—something Buffy definitely appreciated—and then pulled her into a kiss that instantly had this Serena melting for her Darien (2). It had been far too long since the two of them had been together like this, Buffy thought, as she tried to not get too lost in the feeling of Angel's claiming kiss, and home. The two of them tried so hard to be virtuous, and not do anything to bring about Angelus. But how could those actions be deemed good when this was so right? Buffy wondered, just as Angel nibbled on her bottom lip once and she moaned.
But all too soon he was pulling away from her and getting up, even—removing temptation, Buffy suspected—and rifling through one of his drawers. If she peered closely, she thought that maybe he was looking at some of his drawings in them?
"I would like for my birthday… a thing of post-it notes."
Buffy stared at Angel for a long moment, thinking that he had to be joking with her, of course—even though her Angel was usually so sober—because who would ever ask for that for their birthday, but while he continued looking at her expectantly, and then in a bashful way, Buffy realized he must have been serious.
"Angel… I know you probably haven't really thought about what you'd want as a gift for a while, but I swear I can splurge way more than tha-"
But thankfully, Angel cut Buffy's somewhat insulted words off with a finger to her lips. "There's a part of me that's always wanted to try my hand at animation… Though to do that, you need to know how to use a computer, which I really don't. But you can somewhat imitate the affect with post-it-notes: in making a flipbook and I'd like to try it. And it would mean a lot to me if you could help me make that dream come true," Angel told her earnestly, dear God, almost doing the puppy dog pout, so that Buffy couldn't refuse him.
This still hardly seemed like enough of a gift for him to Buffy… Even if she went to an art store and asked if they had special post-its for artists, or anything like that, she was still skeptical about it, but she couldn't turn this dream of Angel's down, now that she knew it was a dream of his. But maybe she could do more with it.
"In the name of the Moon, that’s how I’ll heal you," Buffy promised the love of her life… And okay, she somewhat hated the cheesy words as soon as they were out of her mouth. Maybe the DIC dub of Sailor Moon wasn’t that great. Though in its defense, she didn’t think even it had ever been as silly as what she had just said.
But Angel didn’t seem to mind. If anything, he seemed charmed by it all and sealed their promise with a kiss. And being a girl very much in love, Buffy loved it when he ran his hands through her hair as they made out:
Buffy hadn’t actually bought a wig for this costume, but had rather done her hair up in meatballs as best she could. And while her hair wasn’t nearly as long as Serena’s at all—if anything, it was as long as Rini’s—Angel seemed to love her just the way she was, like he always did. Like she did him.
Buffy did make good on her promise to Angel, but she did something else, too. Though she knew she was probably the world's most terrible artist, she thought she might get points for effort. So, what did she do? She made her own animation flipbook… it was supposed to depict when she gave Angel a bracelet when they'd been fighting the Sons of Entropy (3), but Buffy thought it probably looked more like a stick figure attempting the hula.
"I don't know," Buffy explained lamely, as she handed him both presents, as they both stood in front of the fire at the mansion. "I just thought that maybe, for your birthday here, it might be nice to reference both presents I've given you so far. It seems really stupid now. I know my drawing sucks," Buffy said all but depressed.
The next thing Buffy knew, Angel was moving in her direction. And her Slayer senses were going absolutely crazy for it, thinking that an angry vampire was trying to attack her—and she nearly prepared herself to go on the defensive—but then she was in his arms as he was trembling. And Buffy remembered where she was, and just how vulnerable the creature in her arms was and just how much she loved him.
"Angel?"
"Thank you, Buffy. Just thank you. Whenever I think I can't love you any more than I already do, you prove me wrong."
"And I’ll always be here to do that for you, Angel," Buffy said gently, kissing her vampire’s ear. And she embraced him a moment longer, before they both sat down in front of the fire to examine Buffy's little animation together.
Before Angel left, he drew his own one in the post-its that Buffy had given him: the time that he had given Buffy her claddagh, thinking it was only fitting that since Buffy had drawn the time she had given him a bracelet that said "always," that he depict when they'd shared rings and promised each other forever. He'd given this to Buffy; and as she'd looked over Angel's gorgeous line work and colors as they moved, she imagined she'd never loved a possession more.
And, yes, even in the long years that she was temporarily without him, did it give her comfort.
Author's Note: (1) That happens in one of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer High School Years comics.
(2) I know that their names are Usagi and Mamoru… but in the time the Buffy seasons take place in, Buffy would most likely know them by what the DIC dub called them: Serena and Darien (and their daughter from the future as “Rini”).
(3) This is a reference to the Buffy books “The Gatekeeper Trilogy,” and Buffy did give Angel a bracelet there.
This whole thing is based on how in Buffy The Last Vampire Slayer, Angel’s birthday—on his wedding certificate to Buffy—is written to be on Halloween. I may not like quite a few things about that series, but that’s cool. And it got the muse inspired to write this whole thing.
For a while now, I’ve thought about Buffy dressing up as Sailor Moon for Halloween, mainly because they have so much in common. And then it combined with the above idea and this fic was born.
I also feel like Angel would know about Sailor Moon, perhaps (which I clearly went with here), because he read a lot—so maybe he’d come across the manga—had been to Japan in the past (so I feel like he maybe knew Japanese, like he knows so many languages—so perhaps he could even be reading the manga in its original language)… and, well, Sailor Moon is so like Buffy. So, if for whatever reason, he ever started the first volume, I feel like he would continue on, because he’d be like, “Oh my gosh, she reminds me of Buffy.”
I do have an idea for a sequel to this, I think, so hopefully we’ll see that soon!

"The Gummi Ship was gliding along again through the Other Sky.
'I wonder if Riku's okay...,' said Kairi, gazing fixedly out the window.
'I bet he's fine,' Sora replied. 'He's pretty tough.'
'...Yeah, you're right.' Kairi nodded.
Sora stood behind her, looking out the same way. 'Hey, Kairi... Have you ever seen anything like this before? The first time I was on this ship, I was thinking how I wanted you and Riku to see it.'
Kairi put her hand up to the window. Whether they were stars or just pieces of drifting space rock, all the things out there sparkled. A view they'd never seen before—that was what she and Sora and Riku had wanted to see back on Destiny Island. 'It's so beautiful...'"
I thought I'd try my hand at creating the Sora and Kairi scene in the Gummi Ship that was added to the Kingdom Hearts 1 novel:)

It's not perfect, but here's my late RokuShi Day manip. It's supposed to be a remake from a moment in the game (but I included Roxas in the "screenshot").
In the game, there's a lot of Cave of Wonders puzzle shenanigans. At one point, you find this one gem as, like, a key and Xion puts it in something to unlock the next part of the Cave.
Tumblr media
But here it's supposed to look like Roxas doesn't want her to do that, because he's worried about what might happen if she does. And I don't entirely blame him, since the Cave can be quite temperamental at times.
Anyway, happy late RokuShi Day, everyone!
Hopefully we get a Days Remake someday!

I made a manip! And you know what? I'm pretty pleased with this one!
As many people know, Dark Angel is one of my favorite shows of all time. And around Christmas time, if one of my favorite shows had a Christmas episode, I'll often use a picture of it for my blog for that month or just reblog stuff from it in December in general.
Dark Angel didn't have a Christmas episode. But in the book "After the Dark," that continued/finished the series, they did celebrate Christmas there. And one year, I did take pictures of all the Christmas references in the book and posted them. But this year, I wondered if I could create one of the Christmas scenes from the novel, and I think I did a pretty good job at it here.
This is when Normal has brought a Christmas tree for everyone in Terminal City--and put it on the roof--but it starts to fall off, and Logan goes to catch it and begins tipping over the edge himself. Max catches Logan and saves him and the tree, but in the process accidentally touches him with her skin. And at first, they both are mourning this, of course, thinking Logan is going to die.
Then the couple ends up spending what they think will probably be their last hours together holding each other (Logan telling Max that she's already touched him, so what harm can more do now? If he's really going to die, he wants to spend his last hours with her). And it's sad yet romantic.
But hours pass and nothing happens, and they end up realizing the Virus has been cured.
Anyway...

Parallels
Summary: Sora finds himself missing Kairi while in Quadratum. Canon compliant. Based on the KHIV trailer. Oneshot. SoKai.
When Sora first awoke in Quadratum and got his wits about him enough to sit up, get to his feet, and go to another room to see if there was anyone with him in this strange new place that he found himself in, found himself meeting Strelitzia… his first thought upon seeing this new girl and not Kairi was disappointment.
And he knew that that wasn’t fair in the slightest.
For one thing, Sora knew he should have been thankful to this kind, smiling face explaining everything to him so nicely. And to meet someone who had even taken care of him while he was out.
Sora also, for the record, wanted to say that he wasn’t some creep, or single-minded person who thought every ginger he met was Kairi or anything like that.
But there had been something about Strelitzia’s smile and mannerisms that reminded him a bit of when Kairi had woken him up on the beach all those years ago, and when he’d noticed that he hadn’t been able to help from feeling sad. And then there had even been a little bit of anger that fate had torn him and Kairi apart again.
Though in not wanting to seem rude to his new friend, Sora had tried to wave these feelings away, as he had gone out on the balcony with the orange-haired girl to get a better look at the new city that would be his home for a while, it seemed… this large, bustling city that was much like San Fransokyo, that now made him sick.
It wasn’t until later—when Sora was getting a shower, to try and clean off some of the battle with the Darkside that he’d just had—that he let himself return to some of the depressing thoughts he’d been having earlier (and how out of character that was for him, too! Usually Sora tried to think positively).
It just… it just wasn’t fair, the Keyblade Master decided. He’d finally realized he’d loved Kairi (in seeing her act of true love for him, and realizing in that moment that what he’d felt for her before had only been a crush, but he could most certainly house feelings of love for her now), only for them to be ripped apart from each other again and again and again, the moment the most beautiful feeling one would ever know began to bloom in his heart. What had they done to deserve such a fate?
More than anything, Sora dreamed of them running into each other’s arms now, once they found each other again.
Kairi had run into his arms once… and he had reacted like a poorly programmed robot, that didn’t know what to do—as guilt had eaten away at him, in thinking that Kairi had deserved so much better than what he was giving her then: to be embracing her best friend in an enemy’s lair, all because she’d gotten kidnapped because of him.
But Sora knew that if he would be so lucky as to see her again, it would be him running towards her this time, and never letting go.
There was just so much he wanted to tell her.

“A person isn't who they are during the last conversation you had with them - they're who they've been throughout your whole relationship.” - Rainer Maria Rilke
This isn’t perfect. I’m definitely not a graphic maker, but I wanted to make something for Best Boy Sora’s birthday. I hope you all enjoy!
The idea is that Kairi’s hurt by Sora telling her to stay behind in KH1, essentially, but she knows that that’s not who he really is, of course (hence the quote and all the great Sora moments I’ve shown here: like when he lets her fight alongside him in Re:Mind with their “One Heart” special attack together).

Video
youtube
Edit: Note that you want the volume all the way up, to be able to hear the audio for some reason. Sorry:(
I have to say: I'm quite pleased with this video. It might be one of my best edits, in my humble opinion.
Since it was such a short edit, I thought I really needed to spice it up. So I really went ham with a bunch of effects that I'm usually too lazy to mess with, tbh. And I'm glad I did, because I think it's pretty spectacular. I hope you guys agree:)
I've also wanted to vid our Kairi to this song for ages, so that's also a win.
I hope you guys enjoy!
HAPPY KAIRI DAY!!!!
