What's Shae Weekend 2022?

Shae Weekend is a mini birthday fan event in honor of the lovely Shae Féarglas! Basically, it's a fan event for fun to create fanworks & celebrate Shae's birthday!

The event spans four days from Friday to Monday. Each day, we'll release an optional theme to follow, ending with a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY for our favorite green-haired sweetheart

Use the tag #shaeweekend2022 for all your stuff or go ahead & tag @officialshaefearglas

Who can join?

All Shae fans, lovers, and general enthusiasts! If you wanna show your love for Shae, then this is the event for YOU ✨💚

What content is allowed?

Just about anything really. Fanart, fanfiction, fan edits, mood boards, whatever you  want, as long as it includes Shae in some way! The rule is to have fun and enjoy yourself

Please don’t forget to add any content warnings if they’re applicable

Can I still participate if I’m late/do themes on different days?

Of course! The themes and dates are more of a suggestion to help spark inspiration. Don’t feel restricted by them, and definitely no worries on being late.

The blog will still continue to reblog & share Shae Weekend content even after the event is over

Hello all! It's currently 30 minutes until it turns over to Shae's birthday in my timezone, and in honor of the event from last year, I thought I'd hold the fort until Mims can take the reins again by holding a Shae-themed event for their birthday!

Welcome to Shae's Birthday Bash 2023!

You'll notice that I don't have dates with any of the prompts. That's because the prompts can be done in any order from July 4th, 2023 to July 8th, 2023! Do what strikes your fancy during the festivities: whatever length, amount, activity type, etc., anything and everything is welcome!

Hey, that's fine! I know that, compared to FlanFest 2022 and the Shae Weekend 2022, I'm springing this on people somewhat out of nowhere and I know that this year, this event falls during the usual business week. Do what you want, what you're comfy with; you're a-okay and nobody's gonna judge you.

Hey, hey! Did you guys know my girlfriend is the best?

Shae lives two hours away from me, for context.

I’m currently at work and ordered Jimmy John’s for dinner. I accidentally hit pick up instead of delivery, and when I realized it, I called to ask if I could change it. They said no, and if I didn’t pick it up, the most the could do was void it, but I wouldn’t get a refund. Whatever, guess I’m not having dinner.

I rant to Shae about it and she’s like “what did you order?”

I see what she’s doing a mile away and tell her not to bother, it’s fine, I can hold out till I’m done at nine.

“No, that’s too long for you to go without dinner. Let me do nice things for you. I’m getting you a sandwich whether you want me to or not because I love you, so you should probably just tell me.”

So here I sit with my bootlegger club and soda and nearly crying because I love this woman so much and everyone needs to know it.

If your OCs were dogs what breeds would they be?

This ask is from months ago but I wanted to wait until a time when I could research breeds~

I couldn't decide whether to choose these based on appearance or characteristics...so I tried to go with a mix of both.

Under cut because it’s a long post!

Alex - Definitely a large dog with dark fur. I should pick something aggressive for him but I don’t feel like it...his anger is a bad coping mechanism he’s unlearning, not his personality. So instead...something territorial but loyal and sweet. How about Newfoundland?

Arinn - something lithe and sleek, affectionate and determined. Medium sized, medium to light fur color. Hungarian Vizsla?

Emmeline - as soon as I thought of her I thought of Lady from Lady and the Tramp, so, Cocker Spaniel!

Liv - seems tough and off-putting but can be a real sweetie around the right people. My BAE, the rottweiler

Daero - skinny and timid...a Greyhound!

Rhyss - Something bright and happy and energetic. Curly hair. A Boykin Spaniel!

It was a fact that when Scanlan was in a bad mood, there was three things that could cheer him up. One: sex. Two: music. Three: Vax. 

“Hey, just go check on your boyfriend,” Pike said over the phone. “He’s... I can’t handle him right now. Please. Thank you.”

When he got to the apartment that Pike, Scanlan, and Grog shared, he could hear the frustrated piano notes pounded out like music had personally offended Scanlan. He let himself in with the spare key, and found Scanlan slumped against the piano. His head hit the keys with an ungodly noise, and Vax couldn’t keep himself from chuckling.  

He didn’t even lift his head to say, “leave me here to die.”

“Afraid I can’t do that, old friend,” Vax said. 

“Please,” Scanlan whined. “I’ve been working on this song for a month, and I’m no closer to finishing it. I’m pretty sure I’m moving away from finishing it. I think I have to scrap it entirely. It’s shit. It’s garbage, just like the rest of me. I’m a one-hit wonder and I’ll never amount to anything ever again.”

Vax crossed their living room and sat down next to Scanlan. He didn’t contradict Scanlan right away. There wasn’t any real use to that yet. He was still in the wallowing stage. Instead, Vax set his fingers on the keys and played a soft melody that his mother had taught him once, a simple song. It always soothed Vex’ahlia, reminded her of their mother singing in the backyard as she hung the wash up on the line to dry in the breeze, of simpler times.

Scanlan lifted his head off the keys, and watched Vax for a moment before he picked up a harmony and played alongside Vax.

“You’re not a one-hit wonder,” Vax said. “You’re talented. You’re full of ideas, of creativity. So, this one song is a little stubborn. So was I, and you finally convinced me.”

Scanlan laughed.

“You’ll figure it out, you just have to give yourself a little bit of time. Stop being so hard on yourself.”

“I don’t know,” Scanlan started and Vax reached over to take his hands. 

“Listen to me, Shorthalt,” he said. “You are worth more than a song, more than the music you can create. You’re sweet. And loving. And loyal. You take care of me on very bad days, and keep me afloat. You helped me out of the darkness, and you keep me going every day. I don’t care if you create another song ever, because at the end of the day, you’re the man I love, and that’s worth so much to me.”

He moved his hands to Scanlan’s jaw and turned his face so they were looking at each other. Then, Vax leaned in and kissed the tip of his nose quickly.

“Besides, we all know you create better after a fuck,” he said, standing and heading towards Scanlan’s bedroom. He left the door open, and heard the slam of the cover over the keys as he kicked off his shoes. “So predictable, Shorthalt.”

I'm interested in the young gods AU you're doing!! What's that about? Is it inspired by the song?

The young gods AU is my shameless nonsense AU inspired entirely by the fact that I shipped Tibbet and Chase in Overlord and both Iain de Caestecker and John Magaro have played “villains” with “professional” monikers in comic book shows - or, in John’s case, it’s heavily implied that his character in Umbrella Academy was based on The Conductor from the comics.

YGAU is the first DoctorConductor AU I plan on writing, and it will be sad and it will be chaotic and full of my two favorite broken boys with daddy issues. I have joked about this AU for coming up on 2 years now, I have hardly written a thing, and there’s a good chance that won’t change any time soon because *gestures toward life*

It’s called Young Gods because the Halsey song was the first thing that went on my ship playlist for Leopold and Leonard, and it’s going to eventually play with the lore from the TUA show verse. I have actually created an aesthetic for this AU, which has some minor spoilers for Leonard’s backstory in canon, but the basic summary is this:

Instead of going to prison in his teens, Harold Jenkins is recruited by the Commission, where he changes his name and trains to be an assassin. For a few years, he’s a solo agent using the codename The Conductor, being sent through time to complete his missions. Leopold is recruited from a timeline where Alistair was a part of his life, basically following Framework backstory, with the promise of being allowed to “retire” in any time or place he wants - in exchange for 10 years of service to the Commission. He’s allowed to use his title as the Doctor for his codename, and is paired up with the Conductor for the duration of his employment. At first, they’re reluctant to work together, and then they become friends, and maybe more. the third wheel on most of their missions is the sexual tension

7. What are you most proud of? This is a ship I haven’t written for before! Normally when I start writing for a new ship I start with something small, like a drabble or oneshot, so diving headfirst into something longer is an exciting challenge and I’m proud of how well it’s been going so far!

9. How would you describe your writing style? Every time I get this question I have an existential crisis. There’s words? I tend to favor dialogue over description and talk a lot about feelings and things. I feel like people who read my writing are more equipped to judge my style than I am 😂
