I had a lot of fun participating in @renegadepublishing Fanfiction Writer Appreciation Day (FFWAD) this year!

The Witchhiker's Guide to Beltane by Teddy Radiator. This story has a lot of Spring (Beltane) vibes and I wanted to bring that to life in the binding of it.

This is an in-boards bradel bind. (My first) The paper is a lokta that's beautifully textured. The spine is made of green & purple color shifting duo "Skarabaus". The edges have been sprinkled with ink and the headbands are soie perlee thread. (That handles beautifully, I understand why it's a favorite now)

Sage by Lady Rhian. This fic was written almost immediately after Deathly Hallows. I read it at the time and wanted to have a copy in my library. 16 years later I bind it :D

I added a monogram on the spine with Hermione and Snape's initials. I'll start doing that with all the ships from the fics I bind. Placed the author's name on the cover, unfortunately, it lacked contrast.

Cover: Homemade book cloth made with cotton cloth; PVA-coated paper. HTV for titles.

Body: Cream bond paper of 90 grams. Sage leaves font for titles and Drop Caps. Garamond family for the body. 10 signatures with French stitching.

What's a SSHG plot idea that's living rent free in your head?

Ha! Which doesn't? XD Every plot I haven't written so far lives rent free in my head, every plot I have written, and most of the ones I've read. At least the parts that touched/impressed/amused/warmed/shattered me the most are always there. I think about Severus fighting and Hermione caring for him in 'Chasing the Sun' by Loten, I think about them talking on the phone in 'Semantics' by coffeeonthepatio (sadly it's not online anymore, at least not where the author intended it to be, so no link here), I think about how Hermione held him in my own story 'Medicus III', I think about Hermione saying 'I am the Ministry' in @cissykenway 's story 'The Minister's Visits', about how they love each other in spite of not even being of the same species in 'For the love of water' by corvusdraconis, about how well they come to understand each other in 'The Fire and the Rose' by MetroRhos, about how much I adore Severus's depiction in 'Do not go gentle' by @senlinyu, about Severus's point of view of my own story 'Red Passion and Pavlov's Dogs', about the two of them trying to figure out what happened in 'A place we were' by @morbidmuch, how much Hermione loses herself in 'A Game of Chess' by Kirinin because she's lost him, how thoroughly Aurette's 'The Tattered Man' destroyed me (and how much I still love it), about how dumb Hermione was in 'Pride, or What Goeth Before a Fall' by Toodleoo and how hilarious it's been, and how much 'Fruit Loops' by michmak made me laugh when I read it for the first time - in a German translation years ago because my English wasn't good enough to read the original. And there are so many more but I have to stop here or I won't get anything done any more for the next few days... ^^

Really, it's Hermione and Severus that live rent free in my head, not a single plot. At this point, it's a huge apartment complex and I go there and visit what I currently need. And it was so much fun wandering the halls just now to piece together my answer to your wonderful ask so thank you! 🥰

Fest mods will match you with a giftee. We'll tell you all you need to know about what your giftee likes and doesn't like in fanfiction and/or fan art.

You'll create a work for your giftee and submit it to the fest collection. The fest collection will open on AO3 when sign-ups go live.

Wait for reveals! Your job is to keep your gift secret. When it's time for gift reveals, you, your giftee, and other fest participants will see what's been created for you all.

Rules & Information

Do not create a work featuring your giftee's dislikes/triggers, and try to stick with ships/characters your giftee suggests.

All works must be kept anonymous until reveals. This means you may not tell people which work is yours, nor hint at it, until your name is revealed.

You may have one alpha or beta. Your alpha or beta may NOT be your giftee.

All Wizarding World characters are allowed, including characters from the Fantastic Beasts series, Hogwarts Legacy, and Hogwarts Mystery.

Visual arts (art and comics) may NOT feature characters under 18 in sexually explicit scenarios, even if reference models are of age. This is for legal purposes.

You may not receive any extensions. We recommend starting early.

FAQs

Help! I love angst but I can't go too dark. Be clear about this when you sign up, so the person gifting you a work can work within your likes and dislikes. This fest is for people that love angst or dark works. The only content we can't accept is tooth-rotting fluff. How dark does my work have to be? All themes must be angsty, grey, or dark. The level of darkness will be dependent on your giftee's dislikes and your own comfort level. Not all works need to be Dead Dove here; in fact, most probably won't be. When you sign up, be sure to tell us what you like to write and what you absolutely will not write. This will help us match you with someone appropriate.

What if I can't finish my gift work in time? If you cannot finish your gift work in time, you will need to inform fest moderators via Discord or email as soon as you know you won't be able to finish. Please do NOT wait until the last 48 hours to tell us. To ensure everyone gets a gift, we will have pinch-hitters trying to fulfill outstanding gifts, but they need time to create.

Can I create multiple works? If you would like to create multiple works, sign up for pinch-hitting. You may be able to save the day for someone who wouldn't be receiving a gift.
