I'm almost through season 6 of the queer EMT show and I have a couple of thoughts I really need to get off my chest.
Before I dive in I want to share an observation. It feels like there are two tiers of main ensemble cast and I'm basing this on the character development of each of them. Tier 1 feels like its Bobby, Buck and Maddie who have gone through the most dramatic character arcs, while tier 2 is Athena, Hen, and Eddie. I can't decide which group Chim is in tbh and this is hardly scientific so...
The point of all that is that everything else I'm going to say is based off my observation that Buck is more fleshed out and developed as a character than Eddie.
So now to the point!
First, Buck absolutely adores Eddie. Like is definitely 100% in love with the man. I'm only on episode 14 of season 6 so I haven't even gotten to the onscreen bi realization or the coming out scene outside of gifs on this here hell site. But currently, the way Buck looks at Eddie is so fucking heart eyed its ridiculous.
The hysteria when Eddie is in danger - the screaming at the mudslide, the absolute hard reboot at the shooting? Buck is completely beside himself at the idea of losing Eddie. He literally cries on Christopher's shoulder at the thought of losing him and Chris losing his dad.
This is not standard BFF behavior, I'm sorry.
And don't even get me started on the couch metaphor...I have too much to say about that to include it here.
But what I do want to talk about is the coma episode. Because I feel like that episode was a purposeful "no-homo" episode and here's why:
Buck is in an alternate universe and runs to Hen and Chim, sees Maddie and Bobby. But Eddie is literally just referenced once as "the angry guy" and his contribution to the entire episode is to bring Christopher to see Buck while hes unconscious. Which is weird!
Yes, Eddie rescued Buck and yes he tells the medical team to do better than their best, but compared to Buck literally hauling Eddie's limp body into an ambulance? It's a pretty vanilla response.
And then he doesn't show up in alternate Bucks reality. This is, i believe, one part writers trying to no homo the thing and one part writers implying that Eddie and Chris are a replacement for Bucks "real family" which undermines the entire guardian arc in a very weird way. So it definitely seems, during s6 at least, that Buddie was flat out not happening (again...I'm on e14 only).
So if Buck is in love with Eddie through narrative and acting choices (based on recent PR from Oliver S implying hes lowkey played Buck queer) where is Eddie at? What gives?
I'll tell you what gives.
Eddie is the most repressed motherfucker on the planet. Eddie goes to a call involving a vibrator getting stuck in a woman and he barely clocks that's what's happening.
This man has only had missionary sex for the purpose of baby making and it shows. I have definitely HC'd that Eddie is demi but he's also just locked down so tight. No wonder he spent a whole season beating the crap out of random strangers in illegal fights!
So, what's my point?
My POINT is this. Eddie may be queer underneath all that repression, but he has no idea. None. Zero. Zip. Eddie thinks he can't find a wife and mother for Christopher because he's BROKEN, not because he's maybe just not that into women.
And yes, Buck coming out might give him a clue. Tommy being gay might show him something he hasn't really seen in terms of what a gay man looks like. But that Catholic guilt ridden man has a LONG way to go before he will confess to the fact that he wifed up his bisexual BFF because of non-platonic reasons.
We'll see how the story pans out. But anyone who thinks season 7 is going to end in a Buddie romance is likely incredibly wrong. I mean I haven't seen the episodes yet. So give me a week. But it seems unlikely. Eddie's character is in a very different place than Buck.
Doesn't mean these two don't live together in marital bliss rent free in my head though 😜

A Shocking Farewell ~ Mackie Samoskevich (Part 1)
Warnings: Crying
Character Names: Maddie (Dylan’s girlfriend), Kira (Mackie’s girlfriend)
The final buzzer sounded, officially ending UMich’s season. Their trip to the Frozen Four was over and their National Championship hopes were crushed yet again.
The two girls turned to look at each other, weak smiles playing on their faces. “It was a good run.” Maddie, Dylan Duke’s girlfriend said.
Kira, Mackie’s girlfriend, returned the smile and nodded. “It really was.”
The girlfriends made their way down to the locker room to wait for the boys. Maddie and Kira looked over at Luke’s girlfriend who was being consoled by Ethan's girlfriend, as this was her boyfriend's last ever college game. In 2 short days he would be in New Jersey playing for the Devils, while she stayed here for 2 more years to finish school.
“I know I’m sad, but I can’t even imagine how she’s feeling.” Kira said, nudging her head in the other girlfriend’s direction.
Maddie frowned at her statement. “I know, they’ve been through it all together, and they’ve never been apart.”
“I’m so glad my boyfriend’s staying. At least for now.” Kira said, and Maddie nodded in agreement.
Finally, the boys started piling out of the locker room. Kira spotted Mackie, and made her way over to him.
“Hi baby.” She said, wrapping her arms around his neck.
He mumbled a “Hi” back as he held his girlfriend tight.
They embraced silently for a few moments as she let Mackie hold onto her tight for comfort.
They pulled away and Kira saw her boyfriend's red, puffy eyes, indicating that he had been crying.
“Aw baby,” She said, reaching up to wipe away fallen tears. “It’s okay. You guys had a great year, you’ll get another chance next season.”
At that comment, Mackie’s face fell even more, if that was possible.
He said not a word as he pulled her back into his arms, holding on for dear life.
“I have to tell you something.” He mumbled into her shoulder.
Kira pulled away and raised her eyebrows in confusion. “What, baby?”
Mackie took a deep, shaky breath, looking into her eyes.
“I got a call from Florida this morning. They want me to join the team.” He said.
Kira’s heart dropped the second that sentence left his mouth.
“Like, now?” She asked.
Mackie nodded his head slowly.
“Are you going to?” She asked, barely able to get her words out without choking on them.
Mackie said nothing as he nodded his head again.
Kira stared at her boyfriend blankly. She wasn’t sure what she was expecting him to say but it sure wasn’t this. Mackie had never mentioned leaving Michigan after this season, it was always in his plan to stay for at least a third year before going to the NHL.
“My coach called me before morning warm ups and said they wanted me once our season was over. I didn’t have time to think about it, Ki. They needed an answer right then and there.” Mackie said.
Kira still just stared, unsure of what to say.
“Please, say something.” Mackie said, his girlfriend's silence scaring the crap out of him.
Kira opened her mouth to speak, then closed it again. She felt tears welling in her eyes as she was finally able to find her words.
“I’m just confused, Mack. You’ve never once mentioned leaving Michigan after this season, you always said you were going to stay through at least your junior year. Why did they just now tell you this?” She asked.
Mackie shrugged and said, “I don’t know, baby. It was a shock to me too. I wasn’t expecting it.”
“But you agreed to go even after you’ve always said you were going to stay?” Kira asked.
Mackie shrugged again and shook his head. “This is my dream.”
Kira’s heart broke at his response. She obviously knew this was his dream, but why rush it? Mackie was already drafted, he didn’t have to fight for a draft spot, he could finish out college or at least this next year without having to worry about any of that. So why rush it?
While she also knew this was his dream, she couldn’t help but feel a bit betrayed. Like he was leaving her behind. He knew she couldn’t come with him, at least not yet. She had to finish school. They had talked about doing 1 year of long distance if Mackie decided to leave after next year, but 2 years? That was a huge difference, and something that they had never discussed. And for him to dump this on her 2 days before he would have to leave?
Heartbreaking and cruel.
Kira knew that the day would come eventually for her and Mackie to say goodbye for a little bit, but she was not expecting it to be this soon. And without any warning at all.
“Ki?” He asked, reaching out to grab her hand, but she pulled it back.
“So, you’re leaving? Like, in a few days?” She asked.
Mackie pursed his lips as he looked at her, slowly nodding his head.
Kira took a few steps back, as she felt tears slip out of her eyes.
“Baby-” He began to say, but was cut off by Kira putting her hand up.
“I need a minute.”
And with that, his heartbroken girlfriend was running off, needing a quiet place to process everything he had just said.
Maddie saw her close friend run off, and she looked at Mackie confused.
“I’ll be back.” She said, unwrapping her arms from around Dylan and making her way over to his best friend.
“Mack,” She said as she approached him. “What’s going on?”
Mackie huffed as he closed his eyes and looked up at the ceiling, letting more tears fall.
“I’m going to Florida.” He said, which caused Maddie’s eye to bug out of her head.
“What like now?” She asked, confusion evident in her voice.
“Yes. They called me this morning. I didn’t have time to think about it, so I said yes.”
Maddie was confused at his response, as she also knew Mackie always said he was going to stay.
“Why didn’t you tell them you wanted to stay another year?” She asked.
Mackie shrugged. “I’m ready, Mads. I feel good about this, and I’m ready to go. Plus, I didn’t know how they’d feel about me if I turned down the offer.”
“Uhh, if they’d change their mind about you for wanting to stay another year at the school you love with the team you love to develop more, then fuck them. Why didn’t you just tell them that?” Maddie asked, growing frustrated.
Kira and Maddie were best friends. After their boyfriends introduced them, they were inseparable. So Maddie was hurting for her best friend, and trying to get answers out of Mackie.
“I was on the spot, okay! I wasn’t expecting them to call me and I wasn’t expecting to be offered a spot so soon. But they did and I did so I accepted it! Why can’t you guys be happy for me? I'm going to live my dream.” Mackie exclaimed.
“Because the timing and how you did it SUCKS! You didn’t even bother to call your girlfriend when you found out to tell her, then you just dump this on her after a long, tough game and expect her to be happy that her boyfriend is leaving her in 2 days for 2 years?!” Maddie said, raising her voice a bit.
“I couldn’t call her! We had warm ups then the game! We aren’t allowed to be on our phones.”
Maddie rolled her eyes at his response. “I’m sure if you asked someone they would’ve let you off the hook for 5 minutes to call her. It’s the absolute least you could’ve done, Mack.”
Mackie shrugged and said, “Well I’m sorry I’m a terrible boyfriend and went about this completely wrong. Sorry for wanting to live out the dream I’ve had since I was a kid.”
Maddie was about to speak again, when Mackie cut her off. “You know, I didn’t see you guys giving Luke a hard time at all when you found out he’d be leaving Luke’s/GF/N for two years.”
Maddie’s mouth fell open as she looked at Mackie like he was stupid.
“I know you did not just compare this to that. That is COMPLETELY different. Luke’s/GF/N has always had it in the back of her head that Luke could go at any moment, and she knew for sure he was going at the end of this season. She’s known 100% that he was leaving since August. That’s 8 months, you gave your girlfriend 2 days! I can’t even believe you just tried to compare the two.” Maddie said, raising her voice at Mackie once again.
Mackie just shrugged and said, “It’s my decision and I’ve made it.”
Maddie nodded and pursed her lips. “Well then, I wish you the best of luck, Mackie. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go comfort my best friend whose heart you just broke.”
And with that, Maddie stormed off before Mackie could get another word out.
Dylan came over to Mackie after his girlfriend had walked away. He placed a hand on his shoulder as Mackie turned to Dylan, guilt all over his face.
“Well, now your girlfriend AND my girlfriend hate me. What a way to go out.” Mackie said.
“Kira doesn’t hate you Mack, she could never. Maddie doesn’t either, but you know how she and Ki are. They’re extremely close, of course she’s going to side with her. At least for right now.” Dylan reassured.
Mackie shrugged, trying to believe his best friend to make himself feel better.
“I need to talk to Ki, tonight. I can’t leave my girl like this.”

Chapter 1 Chapter 2
Chapter 3: Begrudging Redemption
The Fenton GAV screeched to a stop, leaving long, dark tire marks on the road. It careened around the corner at such reckless speeds that no one saw it coming until it slammed into Phantom. Jack poked his head out of the window and whooped as he thrust his fist in the air. “Oh yeah! We got ‘im Mads! Told ya that Fenton Ram-O-Rama battering ram was a good addition to this baby!”
Tucker and Sam stared at Danny’s unmoving body, their faces pure masks of horror. “Get up Danny. C’mon, get up Danny,” Tucker pleaded under his breath, but his ghostly body still didn’t move.
Sam took a step towards Danny, but Tucker grabbed her arm and gestured towards the Fentons as they stepped out of the GAV. Jack held two overly-large ghost weapons in his hands with another slung around his shoulder, while Maddie sported a more sensible blaster and a Fenton thermos. “We have to distract them. We can’t let them get to Danny.”
“But shouldn’t one of us check on Danny?” Sam asked, but even as she said it she noticed Dash running as fast as he could towards Danny. He skidded to a stop and dropped down to his knees to check on him. “Oh no, no we can’t let him do that.”
“Sam! Come on!” Tucker urged. “We’ll figure it out later!” He pulled Sam over towards the Fentons and ran right into their path.
Maddie stopped short as soon as she saw Danny’s friends…without Danny. “Sam! Tucker! What are you doing here? Why aren’t you in school?” she asked suspiciously as she raised an eyebrow.
“We…got sent on an errand!” Tucker lied smoothly. “We had to grab something for class. But then these ghosts attacked and–”
“Ghosts? You mean more than one?” Jack asked as he looked around the street for another ghost.
“Yeah, this giant bear ghost,” Sam added as she caught on. “We tried to run away, but it got Danny and–”
“What do you mean it got Danny?” Maddie shrieked as she dropped her weapons and grabbed Sam’s shoulders. “Sam, where’s Danny?”
As Tucker and Sam weaved a fake story about Danny being bear-napped to get the Fenton parents off Phantom’s trail, Dash tried his best to help Phantom–Fenton. He immediately placed a hand near his mouth to check for breathing, but he couldn’t feel anything. He pulled out his cellphone and placed it near his mouth, looking for a wisp of a breath, but nothing.
“Oh God, he’s not breathing,” Dash panicked aloud as he fumbled with what to do next. His eyes hovered over Danny’s glowing form when realization struck him and he hit his forehead with his palm. “Idiot, of course he’s not breathing! He’s a ghost! C’mon focus Baxter, focus.”
He couldn’t try to help him here. He remembered what Danny said about his parents not knowing and he couldn’t risk letting them get to him. He needed to move him and get him somewhere else. He ran a hand along Danny’s spine to check for breaks. When he didn’t feel anything, he shifted Danny slightly in an effort to pick him up. He heard a groan and took that as a good sign before he hefted him into his arms and ran off down the street. He kept running down random streets until he thought he got far enough away to lose them before he ducked into an alley between two shops. He set Danny down as gently as he could manage and tried to shake him awake. “Come on Phantom, wake up. Wake up.”
~*~
“Phantom!”
The shout jerked Danny into awareness. He instantly regretted it as his entire body flared with hot, white pain. The sharp agony barraged him from all sides. It consumed him and drowned out anything else around him. His head spun around and around and around to the point where he thought he might be sick. He closed his eyes as the siren call of the dark blackness of unconsciousness serenaded him with promises of numbness. That had to be better than this. Anything had to be better than this.
“No no, Phantom, stay with me!” the same voice yelled. Two strong hands lifted him back up into a sitting position. More pain raced through him and he choked out a cry. It unfortunately brought him back again and forced the world into greater clarity. He expected to see his friends or Jazz but instead he saw–
“...Dash?” he mumbled out. “What are you…what happened?” Stringing those words together took so much effort. The sheer agony of everything clouded out his thoughts and made thinking so incredibly difficult.
“I don’t know if you took a blow to the head, so you have to stay awake,” Dash instructed. “You were fighting a ghost and then–”
A gray shape slammed into his side. He flew through the air and crashed into the pavement with a loud crunch.
Danny blinked his eyes a couple times and looked at Dash who had stopped talking. He didn’t even hear the rest of what he said. “I’m…what? I didn’t–I don’t think I heard all that,” he said slowly as he tried to pull words through the molasses inside his brain.
If Dash felt annoyed at having to repeat himself, he didn’t show it. “Your parents hit you with a car.”
The gray shape. The GAV. The indescribable speeds his father drove at. The hit that threw him through the air. “Of course they did,” he groaned.
He managed to slump into a position that only mostly hurt. Every bone in his body throbbed with the echoes of pain, but they didn’t scream and blossom anew with fresh torment so long as he didn’t move. Thank god he didn’t have to breathe right now. “Are they here?” he asked after a moment.
Dash shook his head. “No, I think your friends stepped in. I grabbed you and got you out of there as quick as I could.”
Immediately the warmth of relief spread through his chest. He didn’t think he could evade his parents right now and he felt grateful he wouldn’t have to thanks to Dash’s quick thinking. “...Thanks,” he muttered. Much as he hated to admit it, Dash had actually helped him out and gave Sam and Tucker a chance to distract his parents. He owed him one, as weird as that felt to admit. He shuddered to think what Dash would ask as payment for this. More text messages? Joining him on a hunt? Somehow thinking about that made the pain feel even worse.
“Yeah man, of course,” Dash replied with a nod.
In an effort to not make him even more indebted to Dash, he tried to stand. He needed to find Tucker or Sam or get home or something so he could figure out why he was still in such blinding amounts of pain. He used his arm to push himself off the ground and immediately yelped in pain as his arm gave out and planted him into the ground. He fought hard against blacking out again as the searing pain consumed him. Tears poured down his face as he cradled his arm. He hated to admit that he cried in front of Dash of all people as he sobbed in agony. He waited for the tease or the laugh or something to come from Dash, but he only felt his hands gently guide him into a sitting position again.
“You really shouldn’t move,” Dash advised. “I think you dislocated your shoulder. You may have even broken it.”
Danny leaned against the wall and took deep breaths as he tried to ride out the pain. He didn’t really need to breathe, but the cool air seemed to help. The wall also felt surprisingly cool to the touch even though he felt like his body was on fire, and he took solace in that grounding sensation. “Great,” he grimaced through gritted teeth.
“I think you cracked a couple ribs too,” Dash added as he gestured to the lower ribs on the same side as his shoulder.
Danny tried to wave a dismissive hand with his uninjured arm, but it came across as barely a gesture. “Yeah, when aren’t they cracked? I can handle those.” Cracked ribs healed and broke themselves again all the time. The shoulder though…that was going to cause a problem, and it would be even harder to hide.
“I didn’t get a chance to look over anything else,” Dash admitted. “You hit the ground hard though. I don’t know if you hit your head.”
Danny closed his eyes as he tried not to feel overwhelmed. A head injury…would make sense. Something made it hard for him to process thoughts. Everything still felt too fast and at the same time too slow. He struggled to hold onto any thought other than the excruciating pain that shot through him. Maybe the pain alone and the shock could explain it, but he couldn’t rule out a concussion. “It’ll be fine,” he said, not sure if he was trying to reassure himself or Dash. “I heal fast. It’ll be fine.”
“You really should go to a doctor,” Dash suggested.
Despite the fog and the pain and the panic still gripping around his heart, Danny managed to level a disbelieving glare at Dash. “Dash, I can’t go to the hospital. I’m a ghost.”
“Well yeah, but not always,” Dash tried to reason.
He tried not to get frustrated, because he knew Dash didn’t know, but he didn’t have the capacity to explain this right now. God, where were Tucker and Sam? “I still have signs as a human. Ectoplasm. My core. Those don’t go away. A doctor would see them.”
Dash screwed his face up in thought. Was he trying to understand that concept or trying to problem-solve their situation? “Okay, okay that makes sense. Then I’ll do it.”
Danny raised an eyebrow. “Do what Dash?”
“I’ll fix it.”
He shook his head. “No no, I’m fine.” Absolutely not. He wasn’t going to let Dash give him some spotty medical aid because he wanted to be useful. “I just need to get home.” He tried to stand just using his legs and the wall for support, but his legs felt like jelly and he barely lifted his bum off the floor before he fell down again.
“No Fe–Phantom,” Dash corrected as he cast a quick glance down the hallway. Even if they couldn’t see anyone, he felt grateful that Dash was still trying to keep his identity secret. “I can do this. Come on, you can trust me.”
Danny leveled a glare. “Trust you?” Dash was the last person he trusted for anything.
A flicker of pain crossed over Dash’s face, but he clearly pushed it aside as he leaned closer. “I know I haven’t been someone you can trust. I know I haven’t earned any of this. But you can trust me now. I promise.”
Danny still eyed him warily. The only thing he could ever trust from Dash was a reliable shove in the locker or to be there at the absolute worst moment to rub his embarrassment into him further. On the list of people he would go to for anything, he fell below Vlad, and that was saying a lot. At least he knew Vlad meant well in his heart. Even if that favor came with a price, he at least knew what that price would be. With Dash, he had no idea what this would cost him later even if it did turn out.
But at the same time, hadn’t Dash already proven himself? He could have run. He could have abandoned him. But instead he took him away from his parents and watched over him. He touched him gently and seemed genuinely concerned about his well-being. He hadn’t made fun of him for crying or being in pain or not putting on a brave face. Maybe it was the head injury or the pain messing with his thoughts, but Dash had been there for him.
Dash must have sensed Danny’s indecision because he pushed on. “I told you I wanted to make things up to you. You said you’d believe it when you see it. Well how can you believe it if you never let me show it?”
He sighed as he rested his head back against the wall. How many times had he asked his parents to give Phantom a second chance? Or Valerie? Or the public? How many times had he asked for a second chance from his friends because he did something stupid? How many times had he given a ghost a second chance? And now Dash wanted one. Could he really say that as a bully Dash was completely irredeemable? Fundamentally he really didn’t like the idea that someone couldn’t be redeemed, and yet he’d set himself up in his mind that once a bully, Dash couldn’t be anything but a bully. It didn’t negate all the years of harm that he did and it wouldn’t make up for it, but if Dash wanted to try to come back from that, could he really get in the way of that attempt?
“...Fine,” Danny agreed. He thought he’d feel a stab of regret as soon as he agreed to it, but he surprisingly felt lighter, like he’d let go of some ill will he’d been harboring in his heart by giving this kid who’d made his life a living terror a chance.
Dash smiled wide as his face brightened. “You won’t regret this.” He pulled off his sweater and handed it to Danny. “I need you to bite this.”
…Or maybe he did regret it. “Bite it? Seriously Dash?” What kind of suggestion was that?
“I have to pop your shoulder back into place,” he explained. “Then we can see if it’s actually broken. It’s gonna hurt, so you bite this to muffle the screams.”
Right, dislocated shoulder. He’d seen this in movies before. It would hurt but it had to be done. He could see the logic in that, much as he hated the idea of experiencing more pain. “I thought the goal of your new redemption arc was to stop hurting me,” he joked weakly as he took the sweater with his good arm.
Dash rolled his eyes and positioned Danny so he had better access to his shoulder. He stayed surprisingly gentle, which Danny didn’t expect. He had always been so forceful and bold and brash that these kind movements felt so out of place.
“How do you even know how to do this?” Danny asked, both out of curiosity and as a way to delay the inevitable.
“I want to go into sports medicine: taking care of athletes and stuff. My dad got me into a summer program where I got to shadow a guy in soccer and I saw all kinds of crazy things,” Dash explained.
“So have you done this before?” If he had, he really should have led with that and it would have been a lot easier to trust him.
“Well…no. But I did see it done. I know what I’m doing,” Dash emphasized again, probably because he could sense Danny’s hesitation. “Are you ready?”
“No,” Danny admitted. He took in a big breath and let it out slowly. “But do it anyway.”
Dash grabbed Danny’s elbow and shoulder and pressed him into the wall. He bit his lip and hesitated for a moment before he pushed. He didn’t falter and he didn’t hesitate. He was quick and the whole process took maybe a couple seconds. To Danny it felt like an eternity. The bone of his arm grinded against the bone of his shoulder. It pulled and strained the muscles in directions they weren’t meant to go. His arm felt numb, like it had been disconnected somehow. His nerves burned. His muscles screamed. His bone throbbed. His entire perception of the world boiled down to his shoulder as the bone popped back into his arm.
He slumped against the wall partly in Dash’s arms. His head swam again in pain. This time when the blackness threatened to consume him, he gave himself over to it. Anything to escape the pain.
~*~
He shifted against something soft as awareness slowly filled his senses. Pain immediately chased that awareness. His shoulder burned and ached and he almost wished he could throw himself back into that darkness so he couldn’t feel it anymore. Unfortunately the pain blocked him from hiding in that sweet respite and he opened his eyes. Familiar sights surrounded him: his model spaceships, his poster of the constellations, his glow-in-the-dark stars on his ceiling. He was in his bedroom?
“Hey, you’re awake.”
Danny frowned because of all the voices he expected to hear, he never would have guessed that it would belong to Dash. “...Dash? Why are you in my bedroom?” Even saying it felt wrong, like a paradox he couldn’t speak or it would unravel the very core of the universe.
“Keeping watch,” he said simply, like that could explain everything. It didn’t, and left so many more questions. How did he even get here? How long had he been out? Why was Dash sitting on his bed like a concerned friend? “He’s awake!” he called out of the room.
Danny frowned as he reached up to feel his head. Did he actually suffer some kind of head injury and now he was in some alternate reality where absolutely nothing made sense? He noticed his scalp felt warm to the touch and he realized he’d transformed back to his human form. He must have really passed out this time.
Jazz threw herself into the room, her face filled with relief at seeing Danny awake. “Oh thank god, I was starting to get worried.”
“Wait, Jazz? How are you here?” Danny asked. Wasn’t she supposed to be at school? How did she even know he’d be in need of her help?
“I called her,” Dash replied. “After you passed out and turned back into Fenton I didn’t know what else to do, so I called Jazz to pick us up.”
“Wait you…called her?” Danny questioned further as he struggled to fit the pieces together in a way that made sense.
Dash shrugged. “Well yeah. You told me she already knew, so I figured it’d be safe. And I had her number from when she tutored me.”
Right right, he’d forgotten about that. Or rather, he’d purposefully tried to forget about that.
“He was right to call. Passing out twice after a possible head injury is reason to be concerned,” Jazz added as she walked over to his bed to check on his shoulder. He finally noticed his shoulder had been wrapped up in some medical tape. He cast a glance over to the side of his bed where his first aid kit sat open and now depleted of various medical supplies.
“Uh, it was technically only once,” he defended, though he didn’t know why that felt like something he needed to argue. “I stayed as a ghost the first time.”
“Oh, well that changes…nothing,” Jazz deadpanned. “You still passed out. And even though you dont have many brain cells left to damage—“
“Hey!” Danny protested.
“—you need to keep all the ones you do still have,” she finished, but with a teasing tone.
Dash stifled a smile in his elbow, but quickly forced his face back into its serious frown. Did Dash not understand the self-deprecating jokes that he and his sister engaged in? Maybe that just wasn’t for him? Or did he feel bad for laughing because he didn’t know how it would be perceived? It gave him pause to see further evidence that Dash was trying to change, and it still felt weird to see.
“Dash you did a good job with this wrap,” Jazz complimented. “I can’t say I’ve ever set a shoulder, but this looks good.”
“Wait you did this?” he asked Dash. He had just assumed his sister did it since she typically took the lead on first aid.
Dash shrugged. “It’s just part of setting it.”
“It’s better than I could have done. You might be able to get by skipping the doctor.” Jazz mentioned.
Danny shook his head vehemently. “No doctors Jazz.”
“I know, I know, but if Dash wasn’t here to help with this, we would have had to go to the doctor,” she insisted. “So really you owe him.”
Hearing Jazz echo the thoughts he kept trying to ignore made them ring even louder in his head. He’d never tell her this because it would go to her head, but he always trusted her opinions on things, so much so that whenever he gave voice to his conscience, it always sounded like Jazz. If she agreed with that nagging voice that he owed Dash, he knew she was right. “I know,” he finally sighed. “I do owe you one,” he said as he tried to regard Dash with as much genuine gratitude as he could.
Dash shook his head. “No you don’t.”
“No, pretty sure I do,” Danny repeated as he gestured towards his arm. “I don’t know how I would have made it off the street without you.”
“No really, you don’t owe me anything,” Dash insisted. “I’ve been a real jerk to you in the past, and that means I’m in the red, not you.”
The room grew awkwardly silent. Danny fiddled with the edge of his medical wrap while Dash traced the constellation designs on Danny’s bedsheet. Jazz must have noticed the tonal shift (because of course she did) and she slowly backed up to the door. “I’m going to give you a chance to talk,” she decided. He didn’t miss the knowing smile that crept onto her face as she closed the door.
If Jazz thought that leaving them alone to talk would fix the awkward silence, then she really needed to read more psychology books. He shifted awkwardly in his bed. The silence felt deafening as it pounded in his ears. Or maybe that was the concussion. But the pressure of the silence closed in around him, reminding him of all the things he needed to discuss but just couldn’t seem to find the words.
Finally he broke because he just couldn’t take it anymore. He opened his mouth and expected some lame joke or statement about the weather or something to come out, but not an actual coherent thought. “I have to ask, what changed? Obviously you found out I’m Phantom, but what really changed?”
Dash shrugged but refused to meet Danny’s curious gaze. “I dunno, I just…started thinking. About us. About what happened.”
“You mean with the teddy bear?” Danny asked as he raised an irritated eyebrow. That dumb teddy bear caused him so much grief over his school life, and he hadn’t even stolen it either!
“Well yeah, that and just how it got to where it did. A lot of it I don’t even remember. I was a dumb kid. But I just remember feeling powerful, you know?” He looked up at Danny, trying to gauge if he could understand his perspective.
And really, Danny did know. He’d heard the siren song of what he could do with his power. He knew how hard it could be to turn those thoughts away. Sometimes he was better at doing that than others. But he had Jazz and the conscience she drilled into him to help keep that at bay. He had Tucker and Sam who kept him in check. Did Dash have any of those things when he felt that tempting urge? He honestly didn’t know.
So Danny nodded slightly, and it seemed to be the gateway to get Dash to open up a bit more. He relaxed a bit on the bed as he shuffled his feet on the floor. “People laughed and I guess that made me feel important. Cool. And by the time someone told me it was wrong, I just didn’t care anymore.”
He stopped himself and held up a hand. “That sounds like an excuse. I’m not here to make excuses. It was wrong, and I know that. But you want to know what actually changed? I realized you were actually a cool person under all that loser. Phantom is that cool person, but if I didn’t see that, what else didn’t I see? And maybe I should give people more of a chance because other ‘losers’ might also be cool people inside too.”
He was pretty sure Dash still called him a loser, but he decided to let it slide. He couldn’t expect too much of him too quickly. Besides, was he actually witnessing Dash learn empathy for the first time? It seemed shocking that it took him until high school to understand the concept, but maybe it was better late than never?
“You know…that happens to me with ghosts,” Danny admitted. Jazz always told him that if he wanted to get a little in a conversation, he needed to give a little. “I assume they’re bad, and sometimes they’re not. Sometimes they help me out later. I’m not saying it’s the same, but I’m saying I get it.”
Dash shook his head. “I don’t need you to get it. I’m not trying to make you see things my way or forgive me or anything. But you wanted to know what changed and…that’s it. And now I just want to make it up to you. I want to be different.”
Danny looked down at his bedding as he fiddled with the comforter. He appreciated that Dash wanted to change. He really did. How long had he been hoping that Dash would suddenly decide that he didn’t want to be a bully anymore? He could honestly say he thought about it every time he wiggled his way out of his locker. And now that Dash finally wanted to make good on that hope and really change…he didn’t know how to react. Did he praise him? Did he forgive him? Did he just let bygones be bygones? He wished he could be the kind of person who just let it all go, but he didn’t know if he could do that.
He knew he needed to give him a second chance and an opportunity to prove himself. He’d really stepped up today and showed that he could be trusted. If Dash wanted a second chance to turn things around, he’d give it to him, but he didn’t know if he could give Dash everything that he wanted. There was too much of a history there and too much of a past. Just because someone wanted to change seemingly overnight didn’t mean he could do the same. He needed more time, and hopefully Dash could respect that without setting him back through all the progress he’d already made.
“I’m glad to hear that Dash,” he replied with a small, honest smile. “That’s a good thing. And I want to help you with that, I do, but this…this doesn’t make us best friends or anything. Like we’re not gonna start hanging out.” It felt harsh to say, especially after Dash had been so open, but he needed to set his boundaries. He could support his journey without having to go to the movies with him or eat lunch with him.
Dash shook his head and waved one of his hands in dismissal. “No, that’s fine. I’ve got my own friends and football and stuff. I just wanted to make things up to you. Help when I can.”
Okay, well that made him feel slightly better that he wouldn’t have to put up with social hangouts with him, but at the same time, trying to account for yet another person on ghost hunts stressed him out. He already knew he couldn’t tell Tucker or Sam to stay away from a ghost fight after everything they’d done, and by now they had a pretty good idea how to hold their own. Jazz started out wanting to be there for ghost hunts, but he managed to have a heart-to-heart with her about how much having another person there to protect stressed him out and she showed up to the actual fights less and less. He really didn’t want to have to take care of Dash too and show him the ropes. He actually felt like Dash could pick it up quick being so naturally athletic, but he just didn’t want to invest the time into training him.
“You know I can’t let you come with us to every ghost fight, right?” Danny mentioned. Dash’s shoulders sagged, and Danny knew he’d finally gotten at the core of what this discussion really entailed. “I know it probably looks cool from the outside and all, but it’ll draw too much attention. People ignore the three of us. We’re not popular and people forget about us, and that works in our favor. People will notice the star quarterback.”
Dash sighed but he nodded in resignation. “No, I get it.”
“But look, that doesn’t mean you can’t help. You can help keep the heat off of us. We can let you in on some of the excuse plans. Honestly, we were kinda running out of them.” They’d used almost every plan on every teacher by now, and really they were just hoping that enough time had passed that they could try the same trick on the same teacher (except Lancer - nothing got past Lancer twice; it barely got past him the first time).
Dash brightened up at actually being given a job and he nodded his head enthusiastically. “Yeah! Yeah I can do that! I come up with a lot of football plays, so I can work out a whole series of coordinated excuses for you!”
…Okay, that would actually be really helpful. He’d mostly suggested it as a way to make him feel like he was being useful but that…that was actually useful. Hard as it was to believe, this was actually working out better than he originally thought it would. “That would be great. Really helpful,” Danny agreed, and Dash preened under the praise. “And the first aid was really helpful too, so if it’s ever something I can’t handle, it would sure be nice to have someone who knows what they’re doing.”
“I bet I could take a first aid class too! Get even more training!” Dash suggested. He turned on the bed to truly face Danny and he could see the resolution in his shoulders. Man, was this how he got before football games? It was kind of intense to see the way his body just radiated with excitement and drive. It was almost exhausting to look at.
“I mean, if you want to,” Danny hedged. He didn’t want him to get too crazy about this. “And look, maybe we can call you in now and then too, like we do with Jazz. Not all the time,” he was quick to add as he saw Dash’s eyes grow wide. “But when we need you.”
“So like an Honorary Team Phantom?” Dash asked as he leaned forward, his face full of boyish anticipation.
“...Sure.” Dash’s eyes shined with so much hope Danny really couldn’t shoot him down, not after he’d been a surprisingly good sport about all this. Yeah that was maybe pushing a bit far, but it was a concession he could give…for now. And hey, maybe having something he could take away if Dash got too out of hand could be a worthwhile way to keep him in check and help guide him on his path of redemption.
Dash balled his hands into fists and punched the air with determination. “Yes! I won’t let you down, I promise! I’ll be the best Honorary Team Phantom member that there is!”
If this was what it felt like being on a sports team, then he felt grateful that he didn’t make it onto the middle school football or baseball teams. He really didn’t know if he could take all this aggressive goal-setting and celebration. Hopefully he’d calm down, but he had a feeling with a pang of regret that he probably wouldn’t. But if aggressive jock energy was the major downside to getting escape plans and free first aid…he really couldn’t be too upset with how this negotiation turned out. Tucker and Sam would hate it though.
“Oh by the way, what happened to Tucker and Sam?” Danny asked. It felt strange that they weren’t here yet to check on him.
“Oh, they were off distracting your parents,” Dash said off-hand.
“Do they know what happened to me?”
“...No. I don’t have their numbers.”
“Right.” Danny winced as he finally thought to check his phone and noticed a bunch of messages asking if he was okay, where he was, and if Dash had taken him away somewhere to exact revenge on him or stick him in some Phantom shrine. That last one pulled a slight chuckle out of him, which he instantly regretted as it pushed on his broken ribs. He typed a quick response that he was safe at home and immediately they messaged they were on their way. “Alright, they’re on their way.”
“Which means I should probably go,” Dash offered.
“You don’t have to,” Danny mentioned. Yeah he didn’t really enjoy Dash’s company, but he’d done a lot for him today and the least he could do was not chase him away.
Dash shook his head. “Nah, I should probably head back to school. Got football practice later. Besides, the way your girlfriend glares at me kinda freaks me out.”
“She’s not my girlfriend,” Danny groaned. How many times did he need to remind people of that?
“Uh-huh,” Dash chuckled. “Whatever you say.” He stood up from the bed and gave him a respectful nod. “Get better, ‘kay?”
“Yeah, I will. And Dash? …Thanks.” He didn’t really know what he was thanking him for: the first aid care, still keeping his secret, the offers for help that he gave, respecting his boundaries when he did lay them out - really it probably encompassed all of it.
Dash seemed to get it because he gave him a soft smile. “Thanks for giving me a chance.” He waved goodbye and headed out the bedroom door. He could hear muffled conversation that got quieter as they moved further away, which must have meant that Jazz decided to escort him downstairs. Of course she would, she’d want the gossip on what took place in that room. Come to think of it, she’d had an entire car ride to talk to Dash before he woke up…
He felt dumb for only now realizing that she probably guided Dash through what to say. Looking back, he could see Jazz’s guiding hand on the whole thing. He wanted to be angry at her for interfering like that, but honestly…he couldn’t be too mad about it. He felt a lot lighter and more at peace. Yeah things with Dash weren’t perfect, and he didn’t think they ever would be, but he didn’t feel the burden hanging over him anymore. He finally felt like he’d found peace in a war ten years in the making, and that relief washed over him like a warm blanket.
He knew it wouldn’t be without its challenges. He knew Dash would probably say something dumb or insensitive because he was still learning. He knew he’d probably lose his temper at Dash being around too much. He knew his friends would hate Dash being around more. But he could really see this being a good thing in the end, and if he could say that the time he spent on Dash made him treat other people differently going forward - well he’d count that as a win.
He settled back in his bed, content to rest until Tucker and Sam got here. He knew better than to close his eyes because Jazz would freak out that he fell asleep, but despite the pain that ravaged his chest and shoulder, he stared at the ceiling feeling content.
His phone buzzed in his hand and he looked at his phone expecting some kind of update from Tucker or Sam.
“So what happens when you suck a ghost in a thermos?”
For the first time, Danny didn’t groan seeing Dash’s text. He chuckled lightly and typed out an actual, thoughtful response this time. After everything he’d done, he’d earned some real answers, and honestly, he didn’t mind.
Hopefully these last two chapters added a little more fun to the story! While I still like how pithy and compact the first chapter is, I do think these final two chapters rounded things out a bit more. It was nice to give Dash more of a proper redemption arc, and hopefully I managed to do that while still keeping Danny's reaction to it realistic.
I definitely don't want this to come across as being a bully-apologist because bullying is horrible and I will never condone it, but I am also a firm believer that people can change if they want, but it has to come from inside them. Or maybe I just like to see the best in people.
Also, credit to my IRL best friend for the Fenton Ram-O-Rama name. It was beautiful and she deserves so much credit for that bit of genius.
Anyways, hope you had fun!

okay time for my final predictions for the finale.
1. We know that everyone is pretty split up during the collapse already (via the clips today) We are def gonna see future fire captain buck, I have a feeling he might even be offered it at 118 as part of usual season finale cliffhangers
2. Everyone is going to have a heart to heart with their partner at the end (or during, I'm looking at you madney) hen and Karen's won't be too much, Chim and Maddie's is gonna be emotional, and hopefully they don't pull a bathena and just elope. Buck and Eddie's is going to be more low-key, definitely a joke in there about the couch (specifically buck saying that he's glad Eddie is okay bc there's no one else's couch he'd like to sleep on *cue the couch cuddles (bonus points if Christopher joins them on the couch)
Bathena is going to go thru it this episode I feel. I think that by the end of it, there will be a conversation about Bobby retiring and saying that he knows now that he can leave the 118 in good hands (aka buck!!!!) That'll be another cliff hanger thingy.
3. I saw somewhere that the bridge collapse takes up the majority of the episode, so we shouldn't have to worry about the newest love interests making big waves (if anything, they could use them as an oh moment for the audience)
4. I feel like fox wrote the finale to end with enough cliffhanger/set ups for new storylines to have audiences wanting more, but I have a feeling that they knew season 7 wasn't going to be theirs. That being said, here are my predictions for cliffhangers/set ups for new storylines:
-bobby saying he wants to retire and offer buck the new captain position
-connor and kameron have the baby, no complications, no more fighting, and it leaves buck visibly conflicted bc he is realizing he is already a parent figure and he is more okay with walking away from conrons baby bc he has other people that he already takes care of
-to which it will transition into the couch grand finale, where buck goes back to the Diaz house, has his little convo, and the whole family is happy and together on the couch (nothing will be explicitly buddie, but to anyone who has paid attention this season, it will be obvious enough)
-madney will have a deep and emotional convo in the hospital (and someone will drop a big thing but idk what) also I have a feeling jeff will have a convo with chim
-i feel like hen hasn't had anything really set up for the finale, other than Nathaniel and Denny bonding, so I'm not sure what to expect there
Okay I think that's all. I'm tired but I wanted to get all of this out before I went to bed. We shall see if the Oracle has blessed me again or if my gift has failed me😂

It’s season 6 but Maddie is still missing!
Even though all of the main characters have returned for season 6, Maddie is still missing from scenes that include all of the firefam and Athena.
#1 of What’s missing from season 6.
Tumblr media
Since the first episode of season 6 aired in September 2022, one of the many complaints from viewers has been “It feels like something is missing from the episodes”.  All of the main characters are back but one of the many things that’s been missing is the presence of one of the first responders whenever the firefam and Athena gather at the hospital and when they are together for celebrations and parties.  First responders include the police, fire and rescue and dispatchers (Yes, dispatchers too and Buck explained how the ones in California became first responders in 4x11 “First Responders”) but on 9-1-1 those first responders are also “found family” and that is the reason why it’s GLARINGLY OBVIOUS whenever one of them is missing.  Maddie returned in season 5 after she had been gone for 8 episodes but her absence from 118 gatherings still exists.  Actually she hasn't attended any of the 118′s social gatherings since 3x18 “What’s Next?” and her absence is noticeable because of her connections to the firefam, i.e., both her brother, Buck and her significant other, Chimney are both firefighters.  During seasons 2 and 3 she always participated in firefam related activities; therefore she is the dispatch center’s first responder who has the direct connection to both the LAFD and the LAPD. While she was away during season 5, May and Eddie were the connections because May is Athena’s daughter and Bobby’s stepdaughter while Eddie is an LAFD firefighter. But now that May is in college, Eddie has returned to the 118 and Maddie has returned to dispatch, Maddie’s absence from hanging out with the firefam has not gone unnoticed because she was present for firefam gatherings during previous seasons.
Season 2
Maddie did a ride along with Athena and Buck introduced her to Bobby while the 118 was on a call in 2x5 “Awful People”.  Buck, Eddie and Chimney helped her move into her apartment in 2x6 “Dosed” and Athena helped Buck search for her after Doug stabbed Chimney and he took her hostage in 2x13 “Fight or Flight”. She was at Eddie's induction ceremony in 2x18 “This Life We Choose” and that was also when Hen introduced her to Karen.
Season 3
She was at the hospital with Bobby and Athena after a 9-1-1 call led the 118 and Athena to the scene where a victim's baby had been taken from her by a crazy woman and she was at Buck's welcome back party with everyone else until Buck got sick in 3x1 “Kids Today”. Maddie was at the 118 in 3x10 “Christmas Spirit” with the rest of the firefam and their families for the Christmas party and she went with Chimney to the bar the 118 hung out at in 3x11 “Seize the Day” after Albert arrived.  Maddie was also at Eddie's house with Buck and Chimney when Eddie told Chimney the 118 was the family he chose and Buck told Maddie that he wasn’t a guest at Eddie’s house.  Additionally, she called Hen in 3x17 “Powerless” after Karen and Chimney got drunk because Karen thought Hen was cheating on her again. She was at May's graduation party with everyone else in 3x18 but that was the last time she participated in a gathering with the rest of the first responders.
Season 4
Her absence from being around the other first responders during season 4 could have been due to COVID but Maddie lived with Albert in her and Chimney’s apartment while Chimney continued to live with Buck until Chimney finally decided to go home in 4x2 “Alone Together”. When Maddie and Buck’s parents arrived in 4x4 “9-1-1 What’s Your Grievance?” she was there with Chimney, Buck, Albert and the Buckley parents.  She went to the firehouse in 4x5 “Buck Begins” so that she could talk to Buck but she didn’t interact with anyone else while she was there. Maddie had a conversation with Athena at the dispatch center in 4x8 “Breaking Point” about her fear of giving birth. Her PPD storyline started in 4x13 “Suspicion” but she was still going to work at dispatch until she quit her job in 4x14 “Survivors”.
Season 5
Maddie left in 5x3 “Desperate Measures” after she dropped Jee-Yun off at the firehouse but she returned to L.A. in 5x13 “Fear-O-Phobia”.  Since her return, she's only been with Buck at his loft, Chimney and Jee-Yun at Chimney’s apartment and with her co-workers whenever she’s at work.  She got her own apartment (even though it was never shown in CANON) and Maddie had a conversation with Albert in 5x13 after she arrived at Chimney’s apartment to take care of Jee-Yun.  When she answered Chimney's phone in 5x17 “Hero Complex” she had a conversation with Karen about Hen and Chimney being taken by Jonah but after the police arrived, she told Buck that she was going to the hospital so that she could check on Chimney.  She was never shown in that hospital scene and it was very noticeable by the audience especially since she said that’s where she was going. Only Karen was shown comforting Hen after her and Chimney had been admitted.  Maddie didn’t attend Hen and Karen's vow renewal in 5x18 “Starting Over” which was odd especially since she’s friends with them because they are close with Chimney.  Maddie also knows how important Hen and Karen are to Chimney; therefore her presence would have been welcomed. Her absence at the renewal also meant that she was missing from the cast picture that was taken after the ceremony.
Season 6
Maddie’s only been ONSCREEN with Buck, Chimney, Jee-Yun, Magda and her co-workers at dispatch so far this season. She was in 6x1 “Let the Games Begin” and she took one 9-1-1 call from Athena during the blimp emergency but other than that she was only onscreen with Chimney and Jee-Yun. In 6x2 “Crash and Learn” she was at the dispatch center training Noah.  In 6x4 “Animal Instincts” she had a conversation with Buck about the self-help book he was reading at her and Chimney’s apartment, she continued talking with Noah while she was at work and she contacted a lawyer so that Lourdes and Claribel could get the help they needed.  Maddie learned her password had been stolen in 6x5 “Home Invasion” and even though Athena was at the dispatch center, she was only there to arrest Noah.  The rest of Maddie’s ONSCREEN time was with Chimney, Jee-Yun and Magda but she didn't attend Hen's congratulations party even though Chimney and Hen are best friends.  In 6x6 “Tomorrow”, she didn't go to the hospital after Karen was injured to support Chimney which was interesting again like it was in season 5 because Hen and Karen are important to Chimney.  Maddie only took one of the 9-1-1 calls in 6x7 “Cursed” even though there were a total of four emergency calls that pertained to Felisa.  Maddie wasn’t at the firehouse for Hen’s welcome back breakfast during that episode either.  Finally, in 6x8 “9-1-1 What’s Your Fantasy?”, she was ONSCREEN at Buck’s loft, in her and Chimney’s apartment with him and Jee-Yun and when she took the one 9-1-1 call from the man who thought he killed his boss.
Other than her apartment, Buck’s loft, the dispatch center and the food truck she met Chimney at for lunch, Maddie hasn’t been onscreen anywhere else for the remainder of season 5 and for the first 8 episodes of season 6.  Her absence from firefam events has been GLARINGLY OBVIOUS and JARRING for the audience and it's also one of the reasons why things still appear to be off this season like they were in seasons 5.  She wasn’t physically present for the majority of season 5 but since May and Eddie were at dispatch, their presence kept the dispatch first responders connected with the police and fire and rescue. However, now that Maddie is present for season 6, her absence from the events included above are contributors to things feeling like they’re off this season.  It’s not the only reason but it is one of the reasons.
While it’s possible the actress, JLH, has a special filming schedule since she had a baby in 2021, it’s also possible that something else could be contributing to her non-participation in those firefam functions.  Her absence is either being done strategically for something that could happen in 6B with Buck or it could be deliberate for some other reason.  Speculations based on the BTS picture below show how she could be at the hospital in 6B with Bobby, Athena, Chimney and Hen because her pink marker is on the floor with theirs.  Bobby’s is blue, Athena’s is red, Chimney’s is bright orange and Hen’s is yellow.  It seems like they will be standing together looking through a window that’s outside of an ICU or they could be standing outside of a patient’s room inside of a hospital. Both Buck's (green) and Eddie's (white) markers are missing which could mean one of them is in the hospital.  Also there has been a BTS video that included Margaret, Maddie and Buck’s mother in the background so if the first 3-episode titles for 6B remain unchanged, then it’s possible that something might happen that will cause Maddie to be with the 118 again like she was during seasons 2 and 3. Otherwise her absence is deliberate and it’s just not being explained.   Hopefully she will start participating in found family functions with the firefam and Athena again during 6B so that her absence will no longer be an issue.

Hi. I generally liked Pantheon but I found some elements of season 2 a bit lacking. Mainly because several characters I liked just disappeared from the story, like Hannah, Justine, and Cody. Also I was not a fan of the Maddie/Caspian pairing. Putting aside the fact that Maddie was 14 and Caspian was 18, Caspian impregnated Maddie and then abandoned her with the baby before he knowingly gave his life to fight Holstrom.
I can't watch Season 2 for personal reasons that would be irrational if I were to explain it out loud, so I can't review the whole season. But I did read some spoilers and I agree, I wish they would continue the stories of existing characters from Season 1 instead of introducing new characters on a whim. And I did expect romance between Maddie and Caspian, but not to that degree.

// My Rambling Thoughts on Episode 3x08
All right. Finale. Let’s go.
Ryan!!!! Hi, Ryan! Maddie needs threads with the half-brother. Like these two really need to have a conversation / bonding time.
OMG THE CONFLICTING PROTESTS.
Wait. Wait. Are they...was that to knock Maeve out...or kill her? THEY BETTER NOT KILL MAEVE.
I actually feel really bad for Soldier Boy. He looks so conflicted.
Oh thank god. She’s alive! GO MAEVE!
Bless Frenchie. Putting weapons in drugstore perfume bottles.
Oooooh he’s not doing well. I love how Ashley brought the Deep for back up. And to throw under the bus.
Noir’s back! With pissed off forest friends! Is there a petition to make Noir a Disney Princess. Because I feel their should be.
WHY IS NOIR SO WONDERFUL. He is def one of Maddie’s favorites. Even if does, occasionally, throw her junk food in the trash.
Oh, Butcher. Wanting to protect Hughie. But from WHAT???? WHAT ARE YOU UP TO, BUTCHER???
As FUCKED UP and TOXIC as Homelander is cause OH MAN is her a psychopath, he really REALLY just wants to be loved. Like to a psychotic amount and will do psychotic things to get the adulation he feels he is owed...but it gives me a LOT of feelings about him and Maddie. Because he would love her in her own way. And everything he did would be to protect her and see her carry on his legacy and yeah....
STARLIGHT CAME TO GET HIM.
Ahhh. He saved him from taking more V.
PIZZA ROLLS!!!! Now I want pizza rolls.
Hughie having revelations and apologizing to Annie. Good, Hughie.
MAEVE!!!!! Just chilling with Marvin. MADDIE WANTS TO HUG HER MOM SO MUCH. SOMEONE LET HER HUG HER MOM.
Damn, Kimiko.
Hughie, you precious cupcake. Determined to see the good in people.
I need all the threads with Maddie and Soldier Boy. ALL OF THEM. I need these two to meet.
Also I want to watch the Soldier Boy story. I love how in real life he was the anti- Steve Rogers. A rich boarding school kid.
Also Maddie would love to punch Soldier Boy’s dad in the face. Maddie would love to punch a lot of people in the face.
“I always assumed I had a few.” “I always wanted them.” LET HIM HANG OUT WITH HIS GRANDDAUGHTER.
Noir’s lines are pretty much his version of DID I FUCKING STUDDER.
Oh shit. This cannot end well.
Now Maddie wants to hug her Da...WHAT THE FUCK DID HE JUST DO???? THE FUCK. No. I do not accept this. Noir is not allowed to die. NO. Canon rejected.
AND THE SAD ANIMALS. WHY AM I ABOUT THE CRY.
FRENCHIE IS NOT GOING TO SHUT UP ANYMORE. (And now I need someone to play that song from the musical version of Heathers for him).
MAEVE, COME GET YOUR BABY PLEASE BEFORE THE TOWER BLOWS UP.
A-Train’s face at the whole ‘fucking an octopus’ thing.
I TOLD YOU ALL SHE WAS GONNA HAVE A BREAKDOWN.
I legit need LOST HIS SHIT Homelander with Maddie. Who at this point is probably locked in her room. For her own safety.
OH GOOD. SO MADDIE WOULD BE HANGING OUT WITH RYAN. CAUSE 2 GRANDKIDS TO HOLD OVER SOLDIER BOY’S HEAD.
Seriously, tho. Someone just let Maddie and Ryan hang out.
WHY IS THIS SHOW MAKING ME CRY. WHY.
Then they go and have Jensen call someone a pussy and I’m cracking up.
Well that’s a team up no one saw coming.
How are there still 20 minutes left in this episode. MY GOD. SO MUCH IS HAPPENING.
Notice how Maeve is the only person Homelander even hesitates to fight.
Soldier Boy was about to go John Walker on Butcher.
FLASHDANCE!
MADDIE DOES NOT APPROVE OF ANY OF THIS.
“Fuck you shiled, bitch!”
YEA, HUGHIE!!!!!!
WTF. WTAF.
NO NO NO NO NO.
NO.
NO.
NO.
DISAPPROVED. I mean, I knew it was coming because she announced she wasn’t coming back for Season 4. But DISAPPROVED.
RYAN MY PRECIOUS ANGEL. The amount with which Maddie loves her half-brother. I can’t even tell you.
BUTCHER!
I both reject canon and need threads with Maddie dealing with the loss of her mom. I will probably make canon a side verse. And keep Maeve alive in my main cause Maddie needs her mom.
So Butcher is dying. :(
MAEVE IS ALIVE!!!!! And normal. And with Elena. Okay. Screw that. I need Maeve and Elena taking Maddie away from all this. Allowing her to be normal. Basically give me all the variations of this ending. Maddie thinking her mom is dead. Maddie going with her. Maeve remaining with the Seven. ALL OF IT.
ALL OF IT.
THE PAINTING. I CAN’T DEAL WITH THE PAINTING. And the Deep eating his feelings.
OOOOOOH. So she’s gonna be VP...
And Homelander’s fans are still out there. “True Patriots”.
TODD NO! BAD TODD!
And yeah. The amt with which Maddie would have been paraded about...this kind of just proves that. Also no. NOT LETTING THE LITTLE BROTHER BECOME THE NEXT VERSION OF HOMELANDER. Nope. Not happening.

Alyssa Hunter's Pitch For Drag Race Puerto Rico + "Glamazon Prime" Recap (Issue #6)
The RuPaul's Drag Race Official Newsletter
In this week’s newsletter, we unbox the “Glamazon Prime” design challenge, reflect on a fiery Untucked, and share an exclusive interview with Alyssa Hunter. Don’t forget to subscribe so you can stay tuned for all of the latest Drag Race updates!
Michelle Visage’s online shopping cart runneth over, giving the queens their fodder for Drag Race‘s latest unconventional design challenge, “Glamazon Prime.” More than just packing peanuts, it’s an episode that sees the queens pushing themselves to stand out in the competition, stirring up emotions (including the season’s most shout-filled Untucked yet) and giving one queen a much needed win. My name’s Cameron Scheetz, and I’m here to review that Glamazon return policy with you. Let’s dive in…
Tumblr media
The Set-Up
After Jorgeous mopped the floor of the mainstage in the previous episode’s lip sync, the girls said goodbye to Orion, wiping away her short story of a mirror message. The conversations that followed nicely set up some of the key narratives of the week: Jorgeous is ready for redemption, Lady Camden is hungry for a win, and both DeJa and Daya are on edge, feeling like the judges haven’t been appreciating their drag. The mood is tense! Perhaps Kerri (who’s really become the MVP of the confessional soundbites) summed it up best: “It’s not personal, it’s drag. And we are not here to lose. Period.”
Despite Kerri’s wise words, RuPaul decided to get quite personal and confide in the cast about Michelle’s Glambien-induced compulsive shopping (all the queens deserved an acting Mini Challenge win for their dramatic reactions). In came the Pit Crew with dolly after dolly of Glamazon boxes containing Michelle’s unwanted orders: Umbrellas, highlighters, kiddie pools, cookie cutters, curtains, a sex doll, and so much more. As Ru explained, these were the materials the girls would be required to use for the week’s design maxi challenge! Without a specific theme or directives, the queens were left to let their imaginations run wild—and run they did, as they all dashed to unpack Michelle’s junk.
Tumblr media
With no Mini Challenge, the episode gave us plenty of time to gawk at the creative process, some queens working toward a specific vision and other queens assembling the materials they liked in hopes that a vision would come to them. No one dared speak the word “baby” around Daya, who laid claim to a babydoll silhouette as part of her effort to stop competing in RuPaul’s Best Friends Race and fight for that crown. And Carson and Ru’s Walk Throughs proved fruitful, allowing the girls to amend their design plans, but also ask what they can be doing to stand out more on the runway (in Lady Camden’s case, it’s as simple as bigger lips!). Later on, Jorgeous scrapped her difficult fabric and was back at square one, forced to pick through Angeria’s leftovers to whip up something quick.
The Looks
Category is: Glamazon Primetime! These unconventional materials design challenges are a personal favorite of mine, dating all the way back to Project Runway’s premiere when contestants were tasked with delivering runway glam using only what they could find in a supermarket. Let’s take a look back at how the queens fared, singing the praises of some of our favorite details from each:
Immediately the bar was set sky high by Lady Camden’s angelic look. The wings gave it the wow factor, but the way she laid those strips of kiddie pool to create a bodice with real movement… Brilliance! That eye for detail is really going to take her far.
Tumblr media
Jasmine Kennedie was really feeling her Samantha Jones fantasy, looking bangin’ in her Sex And The City 2 resort wear that once again proved she’s got the best breastplate in the competition.
It’s time to raise the curtain on Daya Betty’s Muppet Show! The queen really flexed her craftwork skills this week, taking inspiration from a goofy hand puppet to create a polished, well-edited look that would make Miss Piggy jealous.
Tumblr media
In her dress of many colors, Maddy Morphosis was the clown queen of the rodeo with a hunky man by her side. I’ve got to applaud her use of scrunchies here, which she used to create a floral illusion for her gown and Daddy’s corsage.
Miss Willow Pill had arms for days in this inventive, fashion-forward boogeyman look. It might be nightmare fuel for kids, but the piece looked like a dream on the runway.
Up until this point, we’ve mostly seen Bosco in warm colors or black-and-white, which made her cool blue pop-punk look stand out even more. And, really, I can’t get over those culottes—I’ll never look at a rain tarp the same way again.
As DeJa Skye told us in last week’s Serve-ey interview, she loves color-blocking, and the queen pulled it off beautifully in this Grecian, two-tone dress. She really knows how to bring a garment together.
It’s the shoulder fans for me! Angeria Paris VanMicheals looked expensive in a black peplum dress, putting a sexy, modern spin on a silhouette that’s decidedly ‘80s.
Tumblr media
If there’s one thing Jorgeous is going to do, it’s stomp the hell out of a runway. The shocker here is that the queen was able to turn around such a cohesive look in such a short amount of time, cookie cutter’d to the gods!
While Kerri Colby could’ve walked out in a cardboard Glamazon box and looked incredible, she served body in this asymmetrical piece that combined woven fabric with beads and umbrellas that perfectly complemented her ombré blue hair.
The Critiques
As the safe queens headed backstage, we were left with Lady Camden, Jasmine, Maddy, DeJa, Angeria, and Jorgeous, who, regardless of outcome, should count themselves lucky because they got to spend some more quality time with guest judge Taraji P. Henson (The P stands for “Pay Them Bitches No Mind”). Lady’s a clear standout with her structural stunner—with extra credit for the bigger lip!—while the judges drool over Angeria’s luxurious look (truly the track record to beat this season) and hand Jorgeous the win, to everyone’s surprise. Even Jorgeous looked shocked! DeJa’s gold accessorizing weighed her down despite high marks for her garment, leaving Jasmine and Maddy as the week’s bottom two, neither fully able to translate their Glamazon dreams to the runway.
Tumblr media
Which brings us to the Lip Sync For Your Life! In a rare move, the show flashed ahead to Untucked, teasing that some backstage drama has lit a fire under both queens. And I’m so glad it did, because they needed to bring it for “Suga Mama” and do right by newly minted Oscar nominee Beyoncé (we’ve had Destiny’s Child lip syncs before, but it’s important to note that this is the first time Drag Race has used a Beyoncé song—pretty major!). Maddy’s approach leaned more comedy and got stronger as the lip sync went along, but Jasmine was at a 10 the whole way through, busting out every movie in the book and looking damn good while doing it.
Tumblr media
With no gold bar to be found, Maddy Morphosis was asked to sashay away, thus ending the her(his?)toric run of Drag Race’s first-ever cis, straight male contestant. Honestly, she gagged us with some of those runways, and proved herself a real sweetie with her heart in the right place. I’m glad we got to know her! Maddy left her fellow queens with one final zinger on the way out: “I just want you to remember me by two simple words: It doesn’t matter which two as long as they’re simple.”
Burning Questions
Safe Words
How much “safe” can a girl take? More than any other season in recent memory, this cast has been taking safe placements quite hard. And I get it! While there’s relief in knowing you’ve lived to slay another day, the lack of anything from the judges can really leave your brain scrambling for answers—and that’s often where the Inner Saboteur can sneak in. We’re already seeing it get the best of Daya Betty who, push as she might, can’t seem to break through. But there’s also value in consistency and, in the long game of the season, that can count for just as much. Since her rocky premiere, Daya has yet to falter in a challenge, and I’d bet the judges have made a mental note of what a versatile queen she is.
Call Me Daddy
With their closest ally in the competition sent packing, Daddy Morphosis is at an interesting crossroads in the season: Will they step it up to serve charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, or is this where their performance really starts to… deflate? But, seriously, even though Maddy’s mustachioed runway prop might’ve distracted from the drag, everyone seemed to get a kick out of it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the sex doll stuck around as something of a running joke, a la Dahlia Sin’s “fierce brocc-ally” in season 12. This likely isn’t the last you’ll see of Daddy!
Tumblr media
Next Week: Emmy, Please!
Will the Television Academy bestow Ru & Co. with yet another trophy? Bosco thinks so, especially after next week’s group acting challenge, “The Daytona Wind,” which appears to challenge the queens to over-act in a campy, soapy send-up of Dynasty, a TV classic and one of Ru’s favorites. Also: Daya’s got some critiques for the judge’s critiques—as telegraphed by her face crack when Jorgeous was announced as the design challenge winner—and we are all blessed by the presence of guest judge Ts Madison on our screens. Hallelujah!
The Other Half Of The Story
You know the drill: If you’re not watching Untucked, well, you’re missing out, babe! Let’s shout out a few of the most notable moments form this week’s episode.
The Jasmine Vs. Maddy smackdown teased before the LSFYL was somehow even more heated than we imagined, and I loved every second of it. Voices were raised and shade was thrown, yet it never truly felt like these queens were going to rip each other’s throats out—it’s exactly why we tune into Untucked every week. Both girls were feeling con-fi-dent in their ability to smash the lip sync, and credit to them for refusing to back down. I think we all knew Jasmine had a flair for the dramatic (one of my favorite lines: “I’m not worried about you though, girl, because what you’re selling is not what I’m selling”), but Maddy’s performance here was the real gag, proving she does really have the nerve it takes to be a drag queen. Cue Lady Camden: “I love drag.”
But before the spat, the safe queens debriefed, sharing their confusion over who placed where (though they did seem certain Lady Camden was high). Daya could barely hide her frustration, focusing on the fact that queens who didn’t sew a stitch scored higher than her. Bosco’s reassurance? “If it gives you peace of mind, Jasmine is not in the top”
Speaking of Bosco, her reaction to the Jasmine/Maddy fight—legs over her head, wearing Daya’s big-eye glasses—is the stuff of Untucked legend. Just waiting to be gif’d.
Tumblr media
Oh, Taraji! The Oscar and Emmy-nominated actress is a breath of fresh air any time she’s on screen, and that’s especially true of her time on Untucked. Breaking the tension in the room, the queens are rightfully overjoyed to see her (she looked stunning, as always), and she had some genuinely great advice: This whole thing is a learning experience—there will always be more drag shows—so you can’t let the competition get you down. Bring her back more often!
Maddy leaves the competition having learned more about herself, the art of drag, and what Maddy Morphosis means to her. To her fellow straights at home, Maddy says, “[Don’t] take life so seriously, be yourself, do you—just live your life.” ’Til next time, bro!
The Serve-ey w/ Alyssa Hunter
Tumblr media
Each week, we’ll get to learn more about one of the queens of season 14 when they take our brief questionnaire, a.k.a. The Serve-ey. They’ll all get the same six questions, and then we’ll throw in one final “wildcard” question just for fun. This week: The definition of pageant material, it’s Puerto Rico’s own Alyssa Hunter!
1. In keeping with the season promo’s board game theme: What was your favorite game growing up and why?
I am a fan of the [Nintendo] Switch! And my favorite game is Mario Party because it’s very challenging, and there’s so many different kinds of challenges and games in it, and you can grab stars—I really enjoy that just like a little kid. And also I love Mario Kart. I’ve always been a big fan of Mario, like the Mario Bros. games, but also WrestleMania. You know, the wrestling, the fighting games are fun [because] the wrestlers are very big and very sexy. [Laughs.] So, I always played that as a little kid, but I always played it as the women—obviously, right? [In Mario Party] I always choose Princess Peach! She’s such a queen. I don’t know why I always did it as a kid, but now you can tell why. [Laughs.] But those are kind of my three favorite games of all time.
It’s funny what you said about Mario Party—with all of those different mini games and challenges, it’s almost like Drag Race!
Yeah! Well, they have the [Drag Race] board game already. And they have an app game, too, with cartoons of past seasons’ queens, like Valentina and Bianca Del Rio. So I think it’s going to be great if they do, like, “RuPaul’s Party Race.” [Laughs.]
2. How would you say the city you’re from helped define your drag?
I am very proud of where I come from, Puerto Rico. Because, when you go to Puerto Rico, you’ll see it’s a huge gay scene over there! Even though we are a little island on the map, there’s much going on over there—you can’t imagine! And, yeah, I think I [was able to] explore myself over there. Since I was 16 years old, when I started doing drag—thank you to the gay scene in Puerto Rico, and the love of the fans over there. With all the things that have happened to me since I started my career as an artist, Puerto Rico is my inspiration to be in drag. And I’m very proud to be part of this generation that comes from Puerto Rico, because we are really polished, very talented, and very versatile. So I just feel so proud. I always use Puerto Rico as my inspiration, definitely.
Right! Like in your Spring Has Sprung runway you shared on social media. That look is incredible.
Yeah, that costume actually was [inspired by] how I represented my island in the Miss Universe pageant. So, it was a huge deal to bring that to the main stage—well, I was just this close to bringing it to the main stage. But I broke the internet with the photos, so bye! [Laughs.] And that’s what matters.
And I’m sure we’ll continue to see amazing looks from you throughout the season, because you always bring it to the runway.
Even though I’m not in the competition and you won’t see me on the TV, you will see me like I’m competing! Because I’m going to post every single fierce look that I brought to the competition, every single Friday or Saturday. Because I spent the money, and I deserve to show the world my talent and my fiercest looks. So, you will see it all!
3. With this season’s candy bar twist, I’m curious: If you were a piece of candy, what kind would you be?
I think this is maybe dumb but I love Gummi Bears—they’re so good! They’re colorful and so tasty, so I definitely choose Gummi Bears.
And, fun fact: I am not diabetic, but I am hypoglycemic—you know, which means that I need sugar in my system. So always, before I start my show, I have my gummies backstage, and I take a few of them so I can have the energy that I need to perform. Yeah, in every single show, I brought my bag of gummies with me. So I literally enjoy that candy, but also for me it’s very helpful.
4. What can you tell us about your “confessional” interview look? How did you decide what to wear? What do you think it says about your style out of drag?
Oh, so mine is not a shirt, it’s a romper! It’s a romper that I wanted to show in the Werk Room as a boy because, you know, they show your entire body. I was supposed to wear this futuristic jacket for my confessionals that one of my friends made from Puerto Rico—oh, it’s the one that I used in my last episode, in the Werk Room when we are doing our scripts! It was neon green. But they have plastics [on the shoulders] and the reflecting wasn’t working [for the cameras,] so I needed to change the outfit. But I wanted to wear the romper in the Werk Room because it’s so sexy and I can show my legs! But they love the romper, and it has a great contrast with the background because it’s pink and the outfit is yellow. Oh, and it’s tropical and I’m from Puerto Rico!
Well, it looks great from what we can see on screen!
Yeah, that romper is from a designer who is one of my best friends from Puerto Rico. And I love it! I love it. I have a photo on my “boy account”—because I have two accounts: My artistic one and then my “trade account.” [Laughs.] So I have the photo with the entire outfit there.
5. What’s a fun fact you can share about one of your season 14 sisters that might surprise the fans?
Oh, this is great: So, Kornbread—obviously, it was a split premiere and Kornbread was in my premiere, we were the first ones to arrive. So that was the first episode, and then in the second episode, when we were going to do our runways, we were in the van that took us to the studio that morning, and Kornbread gave us these rocks. They’re kind of like lucky rocks, for good energy. And she brought a few of them, like in different colors, to the van, and she gave them to all of us. I remember that I choose a black one, and I still have it in my house. But they don’t show it on the camera because, as she said, “I don’t want to do it for the camera, I just want to do it because you are my sisters.” So, yeah, nobody knows about that yet—actually, I need to take a picture and put in on my story so the fans can know that! So, yeah, Kornbread is such a sweetheart.
6. Here’s a chance to shout out another drag performer, designer, hair & makeup artist, etc… who really helped inspire you or prepare you for your journey on Drag Race.
I’m a big fan of Miss Universe pageants, ever since I was a little kid. As you already know I told my story that my mom competed in the Miss Puerto Rico pageant in 1994, and I was born in ’95. So I used to play with my mom’s dresses and wear my mom’s heels. And I’ve watched the Miss Universe pageant since I was a little kid. And I think that was the biggest inspiration to do drag, and to be the artist that I am today. That glamour and that feeling that Miss Universe [contestants] have to compete—like, when they cry and all those things, I love it. And I love that all the Miss Universe candidates are very proud representatives of their countries.
And the other thing that I watched is a lot of America’s Next Top Model. I love modeling and that’s why I’m a runway coach. Project Runway, America’s Next Top Model, and Miss Universe—when you combine those three things, it’s me. I love all that: Modeling, runway, the lights, being the diva of the night! [Laughs.]
What else can you tell me about the pageants your mom competed in?
In Puerto Rico, she competed in Toa Baja and she won, so she represented that state in the Miss Universe Puerto Rico [pageant]. She didn’t win the Miss Universe crown, but she was in the top 10. So I feel proud for my mommy! Yeah, she made it! And I have a gay father, so that’s the reason that I’m very—I don’t know, I was like born to do this because of my mom and my dad. You know, a gay father and a pageant queen mom, it’s, like, quite a coincidence. [Laughs.]
7. Wildcard: You’re one of so many amazing queens from Puerto Rico who have competed on Drag Race. Do you think Puerto Rico should have its own version of Drag Race one day?
Yes! Actually I was thinking about that! That [would] be great. Because there are so many talented people in Puerto Rico, but not all of them speak very fluent English like me. Even though the language is not an obstacle to achieve your dream—look at me, I made it to Drag Race, the first, original Drag Race, and that’s a huge deal!
But, yeah, if we had the opportunity to do the show [in Puerto Rico], baby, I will be the RuPaul of the competition! [Laughs.] One of the challenges that I really want is to go to the beach and do a photo shoot there because Puerto Rico has the most beautiful beaches. Yeah, challenges like that, outside. And we have forests, so we could photo shoots that are very tropical. But, yeah, we could grab some of the best things for every franchise and make it work! We should definitely do it in the future because it would really help the gay Puerto Rican scene.
The Looks You Didn't See
It’s practically tradition that eliminated queens will take to social media to show off the stunning looks they didn’t use on the runway. Every week, we’ll reserve this space to shout out our favorite “unseen looks.“

Thank you, Next
Eddie x Reader / Buck x Reader
Genre: Fluff, slight angst
Warnings: mentions of blood, the fire truck crash from season 2, basically injury, creepy perverts, being locked up (small mention of it)
Taglist: @enterprise-medical
It was a stormy night in LA as Buck navigated the firetruck back to the fire station. He had taken it out for a ride, with Bobby’s permission, after you had called his sister saying you were stuck in some creep’s apartment. Maddie had befriended you after you opened your café again despite usually closing half an hour ago. So Buck didn’t really expect that you would look so cute while cuddled up in his jacket, something he normally wouldn’t give it away, but you seemed so helpless and like you were freezing in just your underwear. Besides, he promised his sister that he would take care of you as he brought you back to the station, where she was going to pick you up.
Jumping out of the door, Buck closed the door as quietly as possible before shushing everyone in the firehouse and only getting your sleeping form out of the truck after everyone quieted down. Maddie watched as her baby brother carried her sleeping friend up the stairs, trying not to smile or squeal at how cute the scene was. She had tried to convince you repeatedly to go on a date with her brother, though you would always decline stating that hot firefighting fuckboys simply weren’t your type. But apparently “I-am-cute-lemme-lock-you-in-my-room” was your type or well at least seemed to be your type because this was not the first date that went horribly wrong that Maddie witnessed you having, usually having to find some way to bail you out. Although, it has never gotten this bad.
“Earth to Maddie,” Buck grumbled, waving his hand in front of Maddie’s face as he tried to get her to come back to them instead of being lost in her own little world. Shaking her head to regain her vision, she chuckled as you sat up to wave at her. “Looks like sleeping beauty is awake and waiting for their prince charming,” she teased you and wiggled her eyebrows while glancing in Buck’s direction, earning a groan and the bird from you. “I am never ever going to go on a date with anyone again. Nunca!!” You grumbled, hiding your face in a pillow as you did kind of feel bad for making someone steal a firetruck just because you were incapable of reading a person. “Qué pena.” Eddie stated, walking past you and sending you a wink when you look up in shock. “Habla Español?” You asked, not having expected it. “Sí.” Eddie nodded and send you a cheekish grin before handing you a bottle of water. “Do you feel a bit better? You seemed quite out of it when you arrived with Buck.” He continued, immediately checking your vitals and reactions to make sure that you were actually doing alright. “You get locked in an apartment by a creepy guy in his 40s and then tell me you wouldn’t be out of it.” You retorted, sticking your tongue out at Eddie causing him to poke your sides to see if you were ticklish. Squeaking, you jumped up and tried to run away from the firefighter, not wanting to get tickled. However, Eddie’s reflexes were a lot quicker than yours and he immediately started chasing you, quickly managing to catch you and pick you up.
The rest of the Firefam, including Maddie, just stood there watching you and Eddie. When Buck had brought you in, they had agreed that you seemed more of Buck’s type than Eddie’s as the older of the two was known to be the more serious one of the two. Yet somehow you managed to light him up in a completely new way, something they had never seen before and slowly they changed their minds on who’s type you really were. Even if Buck did not look pleased while watching you two, after all, he had “stolen” a firetruck and almost broken a window just to save you from some creep, yet instead of thanking him properly, you were playing and laughing with Eddie. “They are really cute together,” Hen stated, a smile playing on her lips though quickly putting on a stoic facial expression upon seeing Buck’s glare. “Well they are, though I still think she would suit you better, Buck.” Maddie whispered to her brother before ruffling his hair.
A few months have passed since you had met Eddie and to say that you two have gotten close would be an understatement. You had actually shared his bed with him on multiple occasions now after a long day with him and his son Chris, who you immediately adored after meeting the first time. At first, it took some time for Chris to warm up to you, however, now he seemed to always be attached to your hip whenever you were around. Sometimes, Buck would hang out with you three, though he would have a bitter expression on his face whenever no one was looking.
Right now, you were sitting on the couch in the firehouse when the news hit that the firetruck was crushing Buck’s leg and your heart froze watching the pained expression on Buck’s face. You tried to see as much as possible of the scene, scared that any of the other members of the firefam were injured but the camera simply did not have a good view. So without another thought, you grabbed your car keys and raced to the scene, terrified for Buck’s and the other’s fate.
When you arrived at the scene, they would not let you close as there was still a bomb threat. As soon as Bobby took care of the threat, a frown on your lips as you watched the young man who felt like he had lost everything, and the crowd ran to help lift the truck, you ran with it. However, instead of moving to lift the truck, you dropped on your knees right in front, cradling his face in your hands. “Hey beautiful, come here often?” Buck asked you, a small grin on his lips as you giggled, shaking your head a bit at the young firefighter. Always such a flirt, even in a situation where he could lose his leg and possibly never work in the job he loved ever again.
All throughout Buck’s recovery you stuck to his side, cooking him meals, and coming to all of his doctor meetings with him. You would be lying if you said that you two didn’t grow closer during that period of his life, even sharing a drunken kiss. He had initiated it after one too many beers and you just melted into it, not wanting to upset the already broken firefighter. Yet at the same time, it certainly had been one of the best kisses you have shared with someone. And you could now proudly say that your gaming skills have improved, while Buck’s baking skills improved as well, due to you dragging him along to your little café and allowing him to bake as many goods as you wanted. You even ate them willingly once they stopped coming out of the oven looking like a piece of charcoal.
Soon enough, he was cleared to go back to working as a firefighter and despite feeling slightly upset that you would no longer be spending your days with the sweet, smart and cunning young firefighter, you were happy to see the light return to his eyes. But then the party happened, he coughed up blood, because he was pushing himself too harshly and you had to watch the light fade again. After Bobby told him that he was clearly not ready to be in the field yet, you stood by Buck’s side as rage took over his whole being and he decided to sue the city and Bobby, leaving you to be stuck between a hard place and a rock.
Now you were standing in front of Buck and Eddie after they had a big fight and they were expecting to choose. Will you choose Buck and stick by him as he destroys all his relationships for his job? Or will you choose Eddie and leave Buck to fight this battle all alone?

Trigger warning: A little bit smutty but just really intense passion!!
Word count: 1,226 words
Y/N just got the role of her lifetime, starring beside the cast of Outer Banks in the second season as JJ’s love interest. It’s a dream come true and gets even dreamier when she meets Rudy Pankow her alleged love interest. Lines start to blur between reality and film and Y/N is left wondering if taking a leap of faith is worth risking her career.
Tumblr media
Your whole body felt like it was on fire and drowning in ice-cold water like-wise. You couldn’t remember the last time somebody made you feel like that. The thought that this wasn’t actually real was pressed to the very corners of your mind as you stared into Rudy’s eyes, his shirtless form hovering above you. God, he was gorgeous. When he looked at you like that and touched your bare skin with his slightly calloused warm hands, it was too easy to forget all the cameras and people around you. But all this was just in your head and you were playing your part just as he did. How you wished in that moment it would be true.
When you got the call that you got the role for JJ’s love interest in the second season of Outer Banks you were ecstatic. You had watched the first season in a couple of days and already fell in love in it and when your agent had mentioned that you might be considered for a part in the next season you couldn’t contain your joy. A couple weeks later you were on set and met the rest of the cast. They were all lovely and welcoming to you but you couldn’t help but feel like a bit of an outsider since they had already grown close to a real family in the first season. But you made the best of the situation and couldn’t be happier to be surrounded by all these amazing human beings. You shared an apartment with the Maddies in Charleston and you girls had the most of fun after shooting was over. The boys were just as lovely and sweet and you couldn’t believe how you got so lucky.
And then there was Rudy. Already during your chemistry read, the tension could be grasped all through the room. It was clear to all the casting directors that you would be a perfect fit. Rudy and you hadn’t spend a lot of time together outside of shooting except when the others were around too. You got along great though, a bit too great.
Every time the two of you ended up alone you couldn’t help but feel nervous and your heart was beating three times as fast. You told yourself that it was just a crush, seeing that he was ridiculously handsome. You both were professionals after all.
When you started filming romantic scenes however the feelings got worse, way more intense. You were sure he felt it just as much as you did. After every screamed ‘cut’ you couldn’t even look at each other because the tension was running too high.
You knew he was just playing JJ and you were playing Y/C/N but it all felt way too real when he stared deep into your eyes with his baby blues.
You kept it friendly and platonic all through shooting but today would be yet another challenge. Today would be the first kiss scene that would quickly lead to a more intimate scene in the bedroom. You tried to not let it bother you too much but your nerves were running high nonetheless.
“Okay Y/N, Rudy! You just had an emotional fight, your feelings are simmering right underneath the surface, you’re screaming at each other and then…” Valerie Weiss made a dramatic pause, “JJ kisses Y/C/N passionately!” She grinned at the both of you.
You took a deep breath and gave Rudy a hesitant smile when the two of you got into position.
“You okay?” He inquired kindly and squeezed one of your hands softly.
“Yeah…” You sighed and smiled genuinely, “We’ll rock this, right?”
“Oh absolutely,” He grinned and winked at you playfully. This didn’t really help the butterflies erupting in your stomach.
You nodded and waited for the ‘action’ and acted out your scene flawlessly.
“I’m just trying to understand, JJ! Why do you always push me away?” You screamed at Rudy, or JJ in this case, and tried to convey as much desperation as you could.
“It is none of your business Y/C/N, that’s why. You can’t fix everybody, you know? Especially not me!” Rudy screamed right back at you, tears prickling at the corners of his eyes and you had to admire his acting skills.
“I don’t want to fix anything. When are you gonna get it into your thick stubborn head that I care about you?” You were moving close to him, hands fisted in his shirt as you tried to get him to look at you. One hand went up to his cheek, “JJ, look at me,” You whispered softly and could feel your own tears rolling down your cheeks.
Rudy’s eyes met yours, the colour of the ocean looking back at you with such intensity that your breath caught. It felt like time stood still as you stared into each others eyes, like you were the only two people in the universe. Damned be all the cameras around you and people on set.
He nodded once, as if preparing himself for what came next. Faster than you could process his hands were on your cheeks and he pulled you close to him.
Lips crashed on lips and you could feel the sparks literally igniting between the two of you. Your mouths moved desperately, always trying to get closer and closer. Your hands wandered around his neck, into his hair and pulled slightly. His mouth opened and his tongue slipped out to caress your bottom lip to silently demand entrance which you granted.
Kissing Rudy was like feeling fireworks in the place where your heart should be. He tasted of sweet lemonade and mint gum that the both of you had chewed before the scene, joking about it. But this, this was no joking matter anymore. This was a feeling you had longed for all your life and you couldn’t believe you had finally found it. Kissing Rudy was pure ecstasy.
“Guys! Guys, I said cut!” The director’s voice roped you back into reality and the two of you finally broke apart, catching your breath.
You were still entangled in each other, hands everywhere they should not be in this second, and breathed heavily as your foreheads rested against each other, eyes locked.
Rudy’s pupils were blown, darkening his usually so bright eyes into dark dangerous hues, and his cheeks were flushed a beautiful rosy red. You were certain you must’ve looked quite similar.
“Well, if that wasn’t a kiss!” You heard Chase celebrating from the side and the both of you finally broke apart.
Too late you realised that you hadn’t even heard Valerie when she screamed ‘cut’ the first time. The embarrassment of the situation slowly crept up on you. But this time you didn’t look away from Rudy, quite the opposite. And he was staring right back at you, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape.
“That was sheer perfection! I think we actually already got it!” Jonas stated after a discussion on the scene.
You weren’t sure if you were happy about nailing it on the first try or sad because that meant no more kisses for now. All you knew was that you craved Rudy’s hands back on you and his lips locked to yours. By now you realised that you were entering dangerous waters.

YR Season 2 Predictions
Thanks to @levok for creating this quiz
The rules are simple: copy the questions into a post and answer them to the best of your ability. Tag other people to join, if you want to, and remember to use #YR2quiz (important so your quiz answers wont get lost). Enjoy, and have fun. May the best fortuneteller win!
1. What month will season 2 be released?
I’m thinking late August or early September
2. What episode will Simon and Wilhelm have their first s2 kiss (who will initiate the kiss)?
If we’re lucky the end of episode 2 again (we’d love the parallel), but more realistically I’m thinking some time in episode 3.
3. How will Simon find out about August being behind the leak?
Honestly praying that Sara will be the one to tell him, but I have a feeling that’s not gonna be the case. I think he’ll find out by accident either from Felice or (if Lisa wanted to be really dramatic about it) Simon overhears Wilhelm and August having a fight about it (probably cause August wants to get back on Wille’s good side).
4. Will there be snow in s2?
God I hope so; yes. Especially because Lisa (I’m pretty sure it was Lisa but I couldn’t find it on Twitter) said she loves the idea of a kiss in the snow
5. Will there be any physical fight (if yes who will be involved)?
I don’t think there will be, just a lot of yelling if there is a fight. If it does get physical I think it’d be between Simon and August because of what happened in episode 3, but again I don’t think it will get physical. I think Rosh’s “this isn’t you Simon” speech really got to him
6. Will Wilhelm abdicate?
No cause he’s gonna start a fucking revolution
7. Will Wilhelm make a new public statement about his sexuality?
I don’t think so. I think his “statement” will be just living his life and not hiding his sexuality/ who he loves anymore
8. Will there be introduced another queer character (can be a s1 character- if yes who)?
Yes, Maddi or Rosh. It’ll be established really casually too, not a big deal will be made about it
9. Will Sara become a boarder student at Hillerska?
I feel like she’ll get ✨this close✨ to becoming a boarder student with August’s help and then he pulls the rug out from under her because he thinks she told Wille. Then she’ll go to Felice for help cause Felice is actually a good friend
10. Do we get a forehead kiss between Simon and Wilhelm (if yes, who kisses who)?
Yes- god yes. We need it, plus both Lisa and Sara know how much we want it. However, because they like to twist things in Young Royals I think it’ll be Simon giving Wille a forehead kiss. My head cannon is that it happens after Simon helps Wille through a panic attack.
11. Will Simon and the queen exchange any words (if yes, who will speak first)?
Yes, Simon will speak first cause he’s a little rebel child 😈
12. Will there be clothes exchange between Simon and Wilhelm (if yes, what item)?
Yes, the purple sweatshirt. If this doesn’t happen I’m going to sue lol
13. Will Sara speak any Spanish?
No
14. Will Simon become aware of Wilhelm’s anxiety?
Yes. Again I think there will be a point where Simon has to help Wille through an anxiety attack because all of Wille’s other coping mechanisms won’t be enough (poor baby)
15. Will Wilhelm break the 4th wall at some point?
Hell yeah. Is it really Young Royals if he doesn’t? Like imagine the anger in his eyes at the start of s2 *chills*
16. Will Alex get some sort of revenge (if yes, how)?
Yes, with the new character we’re getting (Lars, lol). I’m not sure exactly how, maybe manipulation or threatening to expose a huge secret.
17. Will Erik appear in any form (letter, flashback, etc.)?
Yes- not physically, but definitely his voice. We’ll hear him to show Wille’s inner thoughts to show how much of an influence his brother had on him. Kinda like we head his voice at the beginning of episode 4
18. How many characters will cry (with tears)- who?
Literally everyone. Edvin and Omar said they wanted more drama in s2 and I think that’s exactly what we’re going to get. Everyone has a reason to cry lol
19. Will Simon and/or Wilhelm say ‘Jag älskar dig’ (if yes, who says it first- will they both say it)?
Yes, the both will, but Wille will say it first (again). It’ll take Simon a while to actually say it, but we already know he does love Wille
20. How many times will we see Simon eat pasta?
At least 3 and I will gag every time I see him eat it with ketchup (I’m being dramatic, but you get the point)
21. Who will have the first kiss in s2 (named characters)?
Realistically, Sara and August. If it’s not them I think we’ll get a flashback of a Wilmon kiss from s1, but that’s the only way I see Wille and Simon having the first kiss in s2.
22. Will Simon and Wilhelm have any PDA (if yes, which kind)?
Yes. Hand holding and a hug from behind. I think they’ll be too scared/ not ready to do anything beyond that.

Alright, can we talk about how Eddie could have had 4 different other female love interests (other than Shannon and Ana of course) and the show chose not to pursue them despite any chemistry that may have been present between the actors?
1) Lena Bosko:
Tumblr media
Granted, Ronda was only on for a couple of episodes so tbf pursuing any type of romantic story line for a main character and a guest star for a very limited run would have been ridiculous. Especially, since it wouldn't have made sense for Eddie's character and where he is emotionally when he meets her. There still could have been some flirting or a very obvious attraction, but the show chose to veer away from that altogether. Instead, they made it very clear that she becomes an almost stand-in for Buck (when she's with the 118): Eddie calling her to bail him out of jail, her taking Eddie to the fights so he could have a healthy outlet for his anger, being partnered with him during the shopping trip -- all of it. I won't get into why I think they did this right now, but the point is, they did it. They chose to keep it at a surface friendship level, rather than allow anything to occur between these two characters. Lena had a purpose to serve and she served it. (though I will admit, I wish they would bring her back for a couple of episodes, I loved her)
2) Marjan Marwani:
Tumblr media
When the crossover happened, Ryan and Natacha had a lot of chemistry. I won't lie, when watching it the first time, I started wondering if something might develop between them, even if it was just a simple flirtation (until we saw his goodbye scene with her). Tbf, it would be ridiculous and extremely challenging to both characters' arcs for anything to be pursued for them other than a friendship. Eddie has his own story, and so does Marjan (as we see after the crossover, she wouldn't have been available at that point in time) on two different shows. It's not impossible but it would be especially difficult to maintain something like that unless they were going to be crossing over repeatedly and frequently. I did enjoy their scenes (I LOVE Marjan so much btw) and I look forward to more if we get additional crossovers, but bottom line is, they chose not to pursue anything here, even a simple attraction. Instead, they parted as friendly acquaintances who held respect for one another.
3) Maddie Buckley:
Tumblr media
I know, I know. It feels like I'm committing some great sin even by putting her on the list but I've got to talk about it, just for a second. I'm so sorry, Chim and baby Jee, I'll make it fast I promise.
We all remember the scene where Eddie and Buck shared one brain cell between them about carrying the couch into Maddie's new apartment in season 2. We see that Maddie looked at those two and was like "oh right, one brain cell" and went back to being cute and very obviously into Chimney. When she mentions Chim being cute, we see Buck thinking she's talking about Eddie. The show could have definitely have gone in that direction, if you think about it (just for a second, I promise!). Then this would have cemented the brothers aspect of the Buck and Eddie relationship as well as keeping it purely platonic and familial. Maddie could have completed the Buckley Diaz family (and they could have even kept Buck involved) and she would have been a great help with Christopher. She could have been someone Eddie could rely on and someone who absolutely could have made him feel like he was enough. As their relationship developed, they could have been a great emotional support for one another and a solid family unit would have been formed. Tbf, Maddie and Eddie were nowhere near where they would have needed to be for this type of relationship to happen had the show pursued it, where they were both emotionally in the story line at that moment. But there still could have been a flirtation, an attraction, something that could have grown over time. We could have easily gotten that kitchen scene in Eddie's house where Buck brings cookies to be different, where Maddie is hosting instead of being a guest as well. Instead, they chose to veer away from that altogether and eventually we got Madney (which imho was the absolute right call, I love those two, they're perfect for one another).
4) Ali Martin:
Tumblr media
I'm not going to lie, I didn't see chemistry between her and Buck during the earthquake episodes, not enough to bring her back and make it a thing anyway. (though obviously the whole "My name is Ali, not Abby" line makes more sense now) But when she came back and they pursued it, and there was some chemistry between them, I was like "alright, let's see where they go with this" and I did like her character, but I digress. My point is, she and Eddie could have just as easily become a thing. Granted, in the story line when she does come back, Eddie is not in a place to get into another relationship, emotionally or literally. At the time she comes back, Shannon has re-entered Eddie's life. So I get them not pursuing her as a possibility and instead bringing her back for Buck's story line. But the point is, they could have gone that way and they didn't.
And not mentioned on this list is any other possibility that they could have had Eddie attracted to someone else that they meet during a rescue, or times at each other's houses, another lady firefighter, just some random character he bumps into on the street, but they don't. Not only does that not seem to suit Eddie's character (since he talks about how dating is complicated as a single dad) or fit into his emotional landscape at certain times during his story, but the show purposely kept it this way.
Instead, we get two official love interests the entire two seasons he's been on the show:
1) Shannon Diaz:
Tumblr media
Listen, I won't lie, I loved Shannon. She wasn't perfect and she had made mistakes, but one thing I never doubted when she returned, was how much she loved Christopher and how much she wanted to make things right between them. Even though she and Eddie get involved again, and I am sure she still loved him and always would, her focus was Christopher and herself. I think they brought her back to not only give Eddie closure, but also for her character as well. Sadly, I think the only person who didn't get closure from this return was Christopher, and it breaks my heart for him to think about it, but I'll get back to the point. Eddie loved Shannon; Shannon loved Eddie. Eddie wanted to try for a second time which Shannon truthfully tells him that she's still getting used to being someone's mom, and maybe someday she might be ready to be someone's wife, but now is not that time. She's focused on Christopher and herself. It doesn't mean that she doesn't love Eddie or care for him, she obviously does, but just like Maddie was trying to start over, so was she. The way her story ended saddens me greatly, not just for Christopher and Eddie, but also because here she was, on the cusp of moving on and rebuilding her relationship with her son, and boom! That's it. Regardless of any mistakes she made, regardless of how much her rejection hurt Eddie, that is just tragically sad in itself. And one of the reasons I love Eddie's character so much is that while he was hurt, while he was trying to do right by Christopher and put his family back together, he never lost sight of the fact that he made mistakes just like her. He says it right to Buck in 2x10. He says it to Bobby in 3x08. He even stands up for her when we see the flashback scene in 3x15. So while I appreciated that and I do kind of wish they had let her live her life, this is how the show chose to end things between them, before she died.
2) Ana Flores:
Tumblr media
I think the show has dropped a major hint (in 4x13) as to where this relationship might be heading or at the very least, what's going on beneath the surface. Ana has become another Shannon for Eddie. Not that Ana is planning on leaving, not that she wouldn't willingly co-parent Christopher (if it came to that), but the show purposely chose to let the audience know that Eddie is going down a similar path with Ana, that he had already gone done with Shannon and was willing to go down with her again before she mentioned she wanted a divorce. He is pursuing things romantically with Ana for Christopher. Carla basically says as much with "Just make sure you're following your heart, and not Christopher's, okay?" It doesn't mean Eddie wasn't attracted to Ana or that he didn't even like her, but his heart isn't in it. Which is cemented by Eddie's expression when he watches Christopher and Ana laughing together as he's lighting the candles on Carla's birthday cake. The show is having Eddie realize this early in his relationship with Ana in order to alter the course he's currently on because it's deja vu all over again.
Not to mention a few obvious parallels:
Eddie contacts Shannon to help Christopher get into the new school; he meets Ana at the new school where she's Christopher's teacher
Eddie talks about how it's nice when he, Shannon, and Christopher are at the beach which is followed by Shannon asking what they are and if her being Christopher's mother is all she is to him; when Buck asks him how the date with Ana went, Eddie says it's nice, she taught him math; when Carla asks how Eddie feels about Ana, he says it's nice, it's easy being with her
Eddie tells Buck in 2x08 that he's confused and not sure if he's letting Shannon back in for Christopher or himself, after Buck suggests he let Christopher see Shannon since he's let her back into his own life; Carla tells Eddie in 4x13 that he should make sure that he's following his heart and not Christopher's
Eddie never gave up on Shannon and their marriage/family once he returned from Afghanistan, he didn't push Shannon or run after her, but he always hoped for her return and did everything he could to keep her around after she comes back into Christopher's life; Eddie has the webcam conversation with Ana where she says (due to Christopher's reaction) if they need to take a break, she'll understand & Eddie immediately tells her no, he and Christopher will figure it out and "In the meantime, I don't want you going anywhere. Got it?"
Where it all leads? I couldn't with a 100% certainty tell you. I, like many of you, think I have a pretty good idea of where it's headed
Tumblr media
The show has been going back to this relationship time and time again. To the point, where it's right in front of your face and extremely hard to ignore, where people who hate this ship have to cry "queerbait!" which of course it's anything but (SPN veteran here). This show has excellent representation and even continues that in its spinoff (Lonestar). While the show may have figured out that the Buddie ship is one of their most popular pieces and are milking it for all its worth when it comes to promotion and ratings, that doesn't change the fact that the writers/show have/has been going there with these two characters before the obvious shift in season 3. They literally have been showing them as a unit and testing the waters with them since Eddie's arrival in season 2. For example, the scene where Eddie talks to Buck after Maddie is taken and Buck takes Chim's phone from the crime scene, that was an obvious testing of the waters and they absolutely passed. But then when Shannon dies, we don't see Buck being an emotional support in the scene where Eddie walks through the hospital waiting room and goes right to Bobby. We see Eddie and Christopher there for Chimney in the hospital but neither of them there for when Buck's leg is crushed. We see Buck being the one to give Bobby a heads up so Christopher could be at the firehouse. We then even see the shot where Chim and Hen (partners) are at the top of the fire pole, sliding Christopher down to Buck and Eddie (two eventual partners) who catch him together. And that was just the fourth episode of the season. Testing the waters. Not to mention, while Buck likes Christopher and we've seen them interact, their relationship develops further once season 3 starts, beginning with the card scene. This is also where Buck and Eddie's relationship also begins to deepen (the whole "get up" scene, showing more of Eddie's reactions to dialogue and events relating to Buck) even before the tsunami happens.
When I started to watch the series, I fully went into it unbiased and let the story take me where it wanted to take me. But soon it became pretty clear that the Buck and Eddie relationship has become something more than a simple partnership, more than a friendship or brotherhood. These two are literally co-parenting Eddie's son, and that's before the legal guardianship conversation. They have formed a family unit that the show just double downed on. Everything Eddie was looking for emotionally in Shannon and then in Ana, he has found in Buck. And regardless of whether Eddie realizes some deep-seated feelings he might have or not, the show purposely brought Taylor back into the picture because Buck is still not where he needs to be emotionally for anything to develop further between the two characters or just them as a family unit. These guys' relationships/dating has been used to advance them forward in their story lines. First we had Buck 1.0, then he gets with Abby, then we have Buck 2.0 who is the version Eddie meets. First we had a still married Eddie who eventually gets involved with Shannon again, then we have widower!Eddie, then we have dating again!Eddie. They are literally progressing these characters forward, from stepping stone to stepping stone, to end up in the same place, crossing the same finish line.
Plus, there is one big parallel that I think foreshadowed the similar emotional journey these guys would find themselves on: Buck waited for Abby, even though Abby was obviously moving on, and he remained faithful to her the entire time. Only when he was forced to look at the situation did he move on. "I have to figure out who I am without you." Then Abby returned in 3x18 and gave Buck closure, when she had been in Phoenix vs LA for the past year -> Eddie literally did the same thing with Shannon (who left him in El Paso and went to LA) until she returned and eventually made it very clear that they were done and she was moving on
But to be fully objective, I have to entertain the possibility that maybe Buck is not the person Eddie's journey is leading towards (which to me is just ludicrous considering all of the time they've spent setting this up in both Eddie's and Buck's arcs separately never mind together). Regardless, the point is Eddie has not yet had a canon love interest that will provide him with everything he is looking for, everything he needs, for him and for Christopher both. Considering that the show ended Eddie's story for this season on this high and very tense point (surviving the shooting & the question surrounding his relationship with Ana), it will be very interesting to see where they take his story moving forward. Especially since there seems to be something for him on the horizon that we don't quite know what it is yet and he has yet to have someone who he not only develops a close emotional relationship with but also provides stability, security, love, strength, teamwork, support, and overall acceptance.
Oh, wait *facepalm* he already does:

Note
give me your pokemon hot takes and be MEAN
1. Sword and Shield are boring, hand-holdy, regressive, annoying, awful excuses for games and $30 of DLC in addition to the $60 base game do not make up for that. I don’t care what features the DLC brought back, I don’t care what new shit it added, you still have to slog through that main game just to get even a whiff of maybe passable content. Also if you’re a Hop uwu baby boy defender I hate you, you are the reason we’re going to get stopped every 5 steps by some stupid NPC in every future game
2. I really thought this would be a popular opinion but tumblr has proven me wrong so: Incineroar sucks, it’s pseudo fire/fighting furbait. I get the fucking theming, I get that it’s meant to be a wrestler heel, but it doesn’t change the fact that Gamefreak got my hopes up with a fire starter staying quadrupedal in its 2nd stage for once, and then completely killed it with the final form. I cannot stand unnecessary bipedal Pokemon and I will die on the hill that Decidueye deserved the Smash slot that this thing got instead
3. Robin is gonna kill me for this one but. Gates to Infinity is like.. bad to me instead of awful. I hate what it did to the future of the PMD series, I hate the slow text speed, I hate the lack of starter options and Pokemon in general, and I especially hate the dumb, Danganronpa-esque plotline of having to overcome despair and having to read these long fucking spiels from dogs and bugs and rats about how life isn’t worth living because someone sent them a letter saying that they don’t want to be friends anymore.
But there’s actually a lot of stuff I like about it that I wish were in a better game, like I like the group dynamic and the fact that you and the partner kind of cobble together this bunch of Pokemon that all have different strengths and relationships and form a bond together. I like the idea of Pokemon Paradise even though it’s unfortunately mostly useless. I love the music, and I really love the fucking glacier dungeons, those still hold up really well graphics-wise. Don’t get me wrong, this is still the worst main mystery dungeon in the series and coming off the heels of Sky it never had any hope of competing especially with all the corners they cut but I don’t find it completely unenjoyable. I can’t recommend it at all but yeah I actually have some nice things to say about it (sorry)
4. Pokemon Rumble and Rumble Blast are some of the best side games Pokemon has to offer. It’s satisfying to play, the music’s pretty good, and the wind up toy aesthetic is just so fucking fun and cute. Half the fun for me is recruiting new mons and seeing what their squished-ass chibi forms look like, I love it. I’ve seen a lot of people call this series repetitive and same-y, and like yeah sure the first game was a WiiWare title, it wasn’t exactly made with longevity in mind, but I still think they are very fun and enjoyable if you just feel like beating Pokemon up for a while and laughing at how tiny their arms are in this art style
5. The 4Kids dub is good and it won’t kill you to call the characters by their dub names. Rachel Lillis, Eric Stuart, and Maddie Blaustein absolutely make the Team Rocket dynamic as good as it is. The only thing that bothers me about the dub is that after the first season, they stopped keeping in all the original BGM which sucks cause they have a ton of bops. Other than that, it’s a perfectly enjoyable watching experience (until the VA’s changed in season 9 but that’s a whole other can of worms)

Amphibia characters family make up
With True Colors about to come out the Amphibia fandom is alive with a buzz on the characters and I want to talk about one intrstesing topic that has played a role in the characters. That is the make up of thier families back home.
Anne  Boonchuy: We know that Anne is Thai American. Her parents own a Thai restaurant and have taught her to cook many of their dishes, I imagine that she helped out in their restaurant back home. In season 1 it is implied that her parents are still together, but in season 2 she mentions her mom a lot more than her dad, even going as far as to figh in a derby challenge to win her mom a souviner. This could hint to Anne being a mama’s girl back home, and just having a closer relationship with her mom than her dad. One final member of her family is her little rescue kitty domina, whom Anne definetly see’s as her baby, and was the first family member she admitted to feeling homesick for.
The Planters: We have all noticed that Mom and Dad Planter are nt around anymore. Given the mosters and dangers that roam amphibia it was pretty hard to imagine that they were just away n buisness trips. After The Rain confirmed that they were killed and eaten by a pair of Herons that invaded Wartwood a few years back. We also learn that during this attack Hop-pop was away on a trip. Because of this Hop-pop wrongly blames himself for the lose of his son and daughter in law, feeling like if he had been their he could have doen something to save them. Likely he would have eaten as well and Sprig and Polly would have been left with no one. Regardless this played a big part in how he raises Sprig, Polly, and now Anne. Why he has so many rules, acts overprotective most of the time, and why he t times struggles to allow hem to take the risks they need to.
The Flour’s and the Sundew’s: It is also worth mentioning that Sprig and Polly are not the only frog children to lack parents. We have seen no sign of Maddie and Her sisters Mom, or Ivy’s dad (all though one brief scene in Ivy on the run where Wally shows up right after Ivy’s mom mentions meeting her father on a trip had a few people wondering). It is possible that both these frogs were also caught by the Herons. IF so it could explain why Felicia takes her daughters “Training” so seriuosly, and why Maddie’s sisters are so attached to her and obsessed with spening time with her, as she could be the only other female in their lives.
Captian Grime: Or Grimithoy. In Barrel’s Warhammer we learn that Grime has a sister Beatrix. Beatrix controls the Western Toad Tower, while Grime until recently controlled the Southern Tower. This means that Grime and Beatrix are both very high up in the Toad Hiarchy. Like for all we know the Newts are the only ones above them. We also know Grime earned his rank for feats of ferocity he showed during his time as a Gladiator. Maybe Beatrix was one too, Toad females are shown to be warriors just like the males. It is also hinted that Grime and Beatrix have a rivalry going between them. IS it wrong that I want to see them have a match? Not to the death obviously, just to see whom is the tougher toad.
Sasha Waybright: We have gotten a good look at Sasha’s complex in the last few episodes. We know that her obsession with control stems from being afraid of losing control/having no control. We also see that despite the two of them clearly loving her, she is worries that if Anne and Marcy will not want her as a friend, should they stop needing her to get by. A lot of people have thoerized on how this relates back to her home life. She is hinted to be rich, she is mentioned to have a pool at her house. But some people have wondered if she suffers from abuse, a lack of love. That is a bit extreme though. Honestly what seems likely to me though is that Sasha is a child from a broken marriage, and that maybe she hasn’t really seen one her parents since the divorce. Nor being able to make her parents stop fighting could be where her fear of not having control comes from. Likewise if one of her parents walked out on her she could see that as “They didn’t need me so they left me”.
Marcy Wu: We know nothing about Marcy’s family back home. She hasn’t mentioned any of them and the many flashbacks we have seen of her life on earth are always of her losing herself in a game. Think about that, her whole life back home is losing herself in games and imaginary worlds, Marcy is also the one who has seemed in the least hurry to go home. Is it really any wonder fans theorize that she might betray Anne and Sasha to have them all stay in Amphibia forever. Anne and Sasha are the only people she is even implied to have missed, and as of the third temple she has them back while still being in her dream fantasy world.

Season Finale Titles Meta
So we finally got a reveal on the title for the Season 5 finale of 9-1-1, “Starting Over” and thanks to this lovely post by @tawaifeddiediaz, listing all previous finale titles, it made me think...
The season finale titles are a preview of what the next season will hold, rather than direct descriptor of the finale itself.
Here me out as I go one by one:
Season 01, Episode 10 “A Whole New You”
This episode notably has Bobby and Athena going on a date after Bobby makes it a point to put himself back out into the dating game. Abby leaving for Ireland after the passing of her mother. Hen reuniting with Karen after the affair. Chim beginning to understand what he has to offer as himself, and Buck being accused of cheating on Abby, however we find out his face is being used to catfish people by someone else.
The theme of A Whole New You is a teaser of what is to come in Season 2 for the 118. Bobby and Athena make something new together, and Bobby realizes how far he has come on his road of sobriety after it is tested (2x06 “Dosed”). Buck realizes he can stand on his own after Abby as the new and improved Buck 2.0. Henren decide to have another baby. Chim finds a new relationship in Maddie. A Whole New You is just the beginning. In the finale they take the first step into this new journey, taking what they’ve learned through hardship in Season 1 and becoming who they need to be.
Note: Athena says in the finale while at the church with Bobby “oh what a life we chose” which is interesting. Now I wonder if all final season episodes mention the title of the next seasons finale...
Season 02, Episode 18 “The Life We Choose”
In this episode, we have the conclusion of the serial bomber with Buck being severely injured in the process. Bobby getting reinstated as Captain, as well as, him and Athena eloping. Chim and Maddie officially become a couple, and Eddie finishes his term as a probationary firefighter.
Again, I see the theme of The Life We Choose as a preview in this episode, with Season 3 being what happens when those choices play out and how the firefam tackles them. Where that is most apparent is with Buck and Eddie. Buck choosing his job (in his mind, his family) has him undergoing another operation before he is fully healed causing him to relapse at the beginning of season 3, and those choices flow on to the lawsuit arc as he fights to get back to the life he chose. Eddie choosing to stay in LA against his parents wishes is almost immediately ridiculed by putting Christopher and Buck in harms way in a tsunami and then as Eddie tries to bury all his hurt from Shannon passing away the previous episode (2x17 “Careful What You Wish For”). In Season 03 it’s like it’s saying, these are the consequences for the life you chose.
Season 03, Episode 18 “What’s Next”
Quick recap: There is a train derailment. Abby returns and offers Buck some closure. Hen and Karen decide to become foster parents. Maddie is pregnant. Christopher goes off to summer camp. Athena is in denial about her recent attack.
This episode has implications about moving on, but sometimes “What’s Next” is a term used to brush off the current problems and move towards the next thing in order to keep pushing. To forget, distract, or just persevere in the moment. You see how this finale is a precursor to what will be delved in deeper in season 4. What is next for Buck, he enters therapy and tries to reconcile all he has been feeling. For Maddie, even though she is pregnant what is next for her is dealing with the fear of what being a parent means. After what happened with Eddie in Season 3, what is next for him and is how does he best provide for his son. For all our characters, again, the finale title is all about the beginning of a journey being explored in season 4.
Season 04, Episode 14 “Survivors”
In this finale, we have Buck rescuing Eddie after he was shot. Maddie comes to terms that she may have PPD and asks Chim for help. Buck once again puts his life in danger so others don’t have to. Taylor kisses Buck. Albert becomes a firefighter. After some marital issues are revealed, Bobby gets shot and Athena rescues him. Eddie reveals to Buck that a year ago he named Buck as Christopher's guardian in the event of Eddie’s death.
As much as this episode may have an uplifting title as Survivors (as if making the statement that if we persist, we thrive) you see it play out in Season 5 so much differently. Survivors becomes much more about putting one foot in front of the other and making it day by day. And how the strategy of just pushing it down and moving forward, does not work. Yeah, Eddie literally survives a sniper attack and Bobby literally survives being shot, but it goes so much deeper than the immediate. In Season 5, you see the consequences of just running away from your problems in order to survive. Eddie has panic attacks. Maddie leaves town. Athena overreaches her power as a cop in her quest to reconcile her emotions over her attack. Survivors sets us up to show that surviving is not about stuffing down the bad until it can’t hurt you, but about tackling your demons until you are on top.
Season 05, Episode 18 “Starting Over”
So here I can only speculate, and if we go based on my conclusions that season finale episodes are a preview of what next season will hold, here is my theory:
Starting Over will set up each character to hit restart on certain parts of their lives. For Hen it will be the beginning of her new career path. For Maddie and Chim, will be the fresh start they need to become this new family - I believe if we don’t have a proposal by the season finale or a talk of wedding, it will happen by mid season 6. For Buck, it means no more chasing after something/someone who doesn’t love him unconditionally. And for Eddie, it is the realization that he can go after what his heart truly wants, not just what is the best for Christopher. And maybe, just maybe, they are one in the same.
So then in Season 6 we will look at in detail what Starting Over looks like for each of these characters.
Okay, if you’ve stuck with me through all this rambling, I appreciate you. Let me know what you think!  Am I onto something here? I think so.
